tell me some train facts... one of the transport ever tbh... never rode a fancy train tho just normal trains but i love em

anyway im not super knowledgeabke abt trains (I got evil train autism not regular train) HOWEVER i do know ONE FACT !!!

train wheels are shaped slightly like a cone, witht he larger part on the inside of the tracks. Along with this are flared edges on either side. The cone shape helps it to turn smoother + go over sharper corners. Think abt jt- if thewheels were flat in the center, whenever the train took too sharp a turn the flared edges would get caught and cause friction. However, with the cone shape it can tilt more, allowing better turns and preventing too much friction.

thats ALSO why it can feel like trains are shifting side to side when moving !!! Its because they are!! throughout the ride the train is contantly going one kn one side and up on the other, then the opposite way. It doesnt fall off bcs the edges of the wheel keep it locked onto the tracks.

It's actually really fascinating!! theres a lot of yt videos thay visualize it if ur confused on what I mean, I highly recommend them
