October Almost-Drabbles 10/13: Maze
Pairing: Steddie, implied Eddie x Chrissy (for like a SINGLE line)
Word Count: 1,027. God fucking dang it.
Additional tags: modern AU, single dads, implied meet-cute, Max is a lil shit and also Eddie’s daughter, Dustin is a sweetheart and also Steve’s son, Max’s POV
Side note: I TRIED TO KEEP IT SHORT. I SWEAR I TRIED. But as you can see, I failed, so this one goes under a cut, lol. The maze aspect was just a jumping off point, so I’m sorry it doesn’t play more of a part. Most of these prompts are of a similar nature for me - inspiration, though I may go off the rails a bit in the actual execution.
Anyway, enjoy!
———
“Our dads are gross.”
Max looked back at the two men trailing behind her and Dustin. She couldn’t hear what they were saying, but she could see their expressions just fine, thank you very much. Her dad, always animated with his hands, was talking and gesturing wildly. She could see the flash of sunlight against his rings. Dustin’s dad seemed to be listening intently, smiling. And blushing. Every now and then he’d interject, probably asking a question about the story. They were both making absolutely ridiculous goo-goo eyes at each other. Ugh, disgusting. She made a gagging noise and looked away.
“Super gross,” Dustin agreed. The path split a few yards ahead, and the kids decided silently as a unit to continue together down the left side.
“Don’t get too far ahead, Dust.” The boy’s dad called out. They were following at a respectable distance; close enough to keep an eye out, but far enough to give the kids some measure of independence. Dustin slowed down a little, giving a thumbs up. His dad visibly relaxed. Max saw her dad give the other man a comforting arm squeeze. In a touch that, in her opinion, lingered a bit too long.
She scowled. “D’you think we could lose them? In the maze?”
“We shouldn't.” Dustin looked nervous. “My dad gets really worried about stuff like that. This one time, my friend Mike and I got separated from him at the mall, and he totally freaked out.” He shuddered. “Never seen my dad cry before that.”
Max shrugged. “My dad cries all the time. Shoulda seen him at the last Disney movie we watched. He cried more than me. I didn’t even cry when I got this!” She waved her arm, in a cast from wrist nearly to elbow. “But before that, before he found you, was it fun? Hanging out without him?”
“I guess,” the boy was looking at his shoes. “But I don’t think it was worth it.” He glanced back at his dad again. “He seems happy.”
The two men walked comfortably side by side. Their arms were brushing as they moved, and if Max knew anything about her dad, he was actively fighting the urge to take his new friend’s hand. Just then, to her horror, he did. The other guy looked surprised, but then… he grinned. And now it was her own dad’s turn to blush.
“Gross!” She called out.
Her dad waved her off. “Don’t mind her, Steve. Ten years old and already a little adult. I’m going gray before my time.”
Dustin’s dad laughed. “You look fine to me.”
At that, her dad raised an eyebrow. “Oh, ‘fine’ is it now?” He leaned a little closer. There was a very particular gleam in his eye. One Max recognized at a distance, though she might not have known exactly what it entailed. Whatever it was, it was probably more Disgusting Adult Stuff. If they actually kissed, she was going to puke.
Luckily, somebody must have been looking out for her, because as they rounded the next bend…”
“We’re out!” Dustin cheered, making a break for the entrance/exit of the maze. Max ran after him, missing her dad’s quietly disappointed “damnit.” The adults still walked out hand in hand though.
“Did you have a good time?” Dad asked her later, while they were getting settled in the car.
She shrugged. “It was okay, I guess.” He snorted.
“A ringing endorsement.”
Her eyebrow raised in a perfect imitation of him. “What about you? Have fun slobbering all over Dustin’s dad?”
He chose that moment to start the car. “What? Sorry, can’t hear you!” He yelled over the sputter and roar of the engine. One of these days the whole damn thing was gonna fall apart. That’s what Grandpa Wayne said whenever he took rides with them.
“Whatever,” she rolled her eyes. They pulled out of the maze parking lot, and began the long drive back to Hawkins. After a few minutes of silence, he spoke up.
“Say, Max… how would you feel about me inviting your new friend over for lunch sometime? Might be fun.”
“Yeah, or you could just ask his dad out on a date or whatever. Dunno why you’re using us kids as an excuse.” She saw him stiffen a bit out of the corner of her eye, but kept her gaze out the window, watching familiar passing scenery.
“What? Me and Steve? A date? Nah, come on.” He tried to play it off, but his face was too pink for her to really believe him.
“Did you at least get his number? Because I remember when you and Chrissy broke up-“
“Hey now-“
“-and that was a freaking nightmare. A solid month of nothing but gross pining.”
He gasped, indignant. “I don’t pine!”
She gave him a flat look.
“It wasn’t that bad!”
Her expression didn’t change. He sighed, resigned.
“Okay, fine, it was bad. But I can’t help it, Max - I’ve always been this way. Big feelings, you know?”
“Oh I know. ‘S why Papa tells me he’s glad I got my mom’s temperament. ‘More than two of you’d be sending me to an early grave, and not a moment too soon.’” That last bit was said in a gruff imitation of Wayne’s voice. Her impression improved every time she did it, and never failed to make her dad laugh.
“Point taken, you little menace. And to answer your question: yes. I did, in fact, get Steve’s number.”
“Gross. I bet you gave him a super cute, disgusting nickname in your contacts too.”
He coughed and focused back on the road ahead. Max smirked. Bullseye.
“Just promise me one thing? Don’t call him as soon as we get home? It was embarrassing enough to watch you guys flirt back there. At least wait until I’m asleep. Or at the skate park. Or anywhere that’s not at the trailer.”
“Deal. Easy. I’ll bet you like ten bucks I won’t even think of calling him until tomorrow!”
And Max immediately agreed, knowing that she’d be ten dollars richer by the end of the day.
He barely held out for an hour.
———
(The nickname was “Pretty Boy,” by the way. In a few months, it’ll get changed to “Sweetheart.” It was “Babylove” for like a day. But then Max borrowed his phone, saw it, and demanded he change it because GROSS, DAD.)

your fic “obviously” is my literal favorite!!! could you do one that would be surrounding the idea of the triplets and y/n decide to do a corn maze and y/n partners up with nick but nick runs off and leaves y/n behind and when chris & matt get out they see nick and matt starts to worry about y/n so he goes back in to find her?? add your own little spin on it if you’d like but it would just be so cute to see how much he really cares for her through the worry he has🥹
maze ⮕ m.s.
Tumblr media
word count: 1.2k
warnings: swearing, worry, anxiety
summary: you and nick decided to go through a corn maze, and when nick leaves you behind after a particularly heart-stopping jump scare, matt goes in to find you
a/n: i changed it just a little bit 🤏🏻 hope you enjoy 💓
everything written is completely fictional. the people i write for are written with characteristics and mannerisms that i made for them, this is in no way depicting what would actually happen in real life.
Boston was perfect for the fall.
The brownish red leaves crunching under your feet, the brisk air pinkening your cheeks and the tip of your nose, and especially the fall festivities. You and Nick went absolutely ballistic for anything fall related, which is why the two of you got along so well. Matt and Chris loved fall as well, but not to the extent of you and Nick.
It was your idea to go to a scream park, the three boys hesitant but they agreed anyway. The four of you had been walking around the park, laughing and flinching at every one of the scare actors.
“You guys, we have to do the corn maze.” You said, Nick’s eyes widening as he shook his head. “Oh, come on! You won’t even do it once? Just for the experience?” You pressed, Nick sighing and running a hand through his hair.
“I guess, you two down?” He asked.
Chris scoffed and shook his head. “Yeah, right. Not a chance.” You looked over at Matt, who was already shaking his head.
“We’ll wait here for you two to get out, but that’s about as far into a maze I’m going.” Matt said, holding his hands up in defense.
You sighed and shrugged your shoulders, looping your arm in Nick’s and walking towards the maze. “I have a feeling it isn’t going to be that bad.” You said. Nick looked over at you with raised eyebrows.
“Yeah, okay.” He grumbled, his grip on your arm tight.
The maze was decorated with crime scene tape, signs saying different things covered in fake blood, and scarecrows around every corner. Nick was convinced the scarecrows were going to jump out in front of the two of you, but it had yet to happen.
“Nick, you’re being dramatic, just chill. Besides, if you’re not scared, the scarers leave you alone.” You said, Nick scoffing. He opened his mouth to speak, but a scream ripped through his throat as someone jumped out of the corn and ran past the two of you.
Nick’s arm was ripped from yours and all you saw was him sprinting into the darkness ahead of you, completely leaving you behind in the middle of nowhere.
“Well, fuck.” You whispered, slowly walking through the maze by yourself, flinching at every swish of the corn and every flutter of nearby birds. It somehow seemed darker now that you were alone, your nerves heightened as you turned different corners.
Matt and Chris were sitting on a bench right outside of the maze, scrolling on their phones and occasionally showing each other what was on their screens. Nick burst through the exit of the maze moments later, his breathing heavy and his eyes wide.
“How was the maze?” Chris asked, locking his phone and sliding it into his pocket. Nick shook his head. He bent at the waist and rested his hands on his knees.
“It was fucking terrible, never let me do that shit again. That was a bad idea.” He said, his breathing finally level enough to stand up straight. Matt and Chris shook their heads and laughed, talking to Nick for just a few minutes before Matt stopped and looked behind Nick. A few couples had walked out of the maze exit, but you were nowhere in sight.
“Nick?” Matt said, Nick’s attention turned to him. “Where’s Y/n?”
Nick turned to face the exit, his entire body rigid as he looked back at Matt with wide eyes. “I lost her about halfway through, that’s when I ran.” He said.
Matt’s jaw dropped. “You left her in the maze? Nick, what the fuck?” He asked, Nick holding his hands up in defense.
“I didn’t think she’d get fucking lost!” Nick said. Matt scoffed and shook his head.
“I’ll go find her, Jesus.” Matt grumbled, walking into the exit of the maze. Matt was never a fan of mazes, especially when it was too dark. He turned his phone flashlight on, walking past the people walking in the opposite direction as he searched for you.
Once he got a good distance away from the exit, there were less and less people. He grumbled under his breath, just wanting to find you and get the fuck out of here. He tried calling you, but it went straight to voicemail. Jesus Christ, he hoped you didn’t try to cut through the corn or something, because then you could have been anywhere.
Okay, shit was starting to get scary.
You couldn’t see anything, and your phone died about ten minutes ago. You’d lost sight of anyone a few minutes before, and you were freaking out. You kept one hand out, brushing against the rough stalks of corn to make sure you were going the right direction. Your other hand was shaking in your hoodie pocket, gripping your phone like a vice to keep you grounded. If it wasn’t for you, you wouldn’t have been in this situation to begin with, and you’d probably be eating elephant ears by the fire pit and joking around with your friends. But no, you had to be an idiot and get lost in a corn maze.
You turned a corner, a light blinding you as your stomach dropped and you screamed, nearly flying into the corn next to you.
“It’s me, it’s me!” The voice said, your heart pounding as your eyes finally adjusted.
“Matt? Jesus Christ, you scared the shit out of me!” You said, your hand resting on your chest as you caught your breath.
“How the fuck did you get lost? There’s one path.” Matt said, turning around and heading the opposite direction.
You rolled your eyes and fell in line with him, flinching when the corn rustled next to you and bumping into him. “I slowed down when Nick left me for dead so I wouldn’t trip and faceplant.” You said, Matt scoffing as he held his phone out in front of the two of you.
Before he could say anything, another scare actor jumped out of the corn right in front of you, your arm looping with Matt’s as you hid your face in his shoulder. You wouldn’t have flinched so hard if your nerves weren’t already so high. Matt flinched of course, but he just kept the two of you walking, letting you hold onto his arm and press your face into his shoulder.
“We’re almost there, I promise.” He said, you nodding against his hoodie sleeve and mumbling a response. Matt chuckled and shook his head, leading you through the maze and finally out of the exit. “We’re out.” He said, your head lifting from his shoulder to see Chris and Nick, Nick’s face contorted in a sheepish smile.
“Sorry.” He said, you smiling and shaking your head.
“It’s fine, scaredy cat.” You looked over at Chris, his eyebrows raised. You stared back at him. “What?”
Chris shook his head, an amused smile on his face. “Oh nothing, but you do realize you can let go of Matt now, right?” He said. Before you could let go, Matt’s hand entwined with yours.
“She can hold on to me for as long as she likes, considering I’m the only one that went after her in the maze.” He said matter of factly. You ignored the way your face heated up, lightly squeezing his hand in thanks.
Chris scoffed, his jaw dropped. “Dude, you went before I could even process that Nick fucking left her in there!” He countered, a laugh leaving your lips as the four of you started walking to one of the food stands.
“Excuses, excuses.” Matt said, looking down at you and winking as the four of you stepped into the line, your hand still encased in Matt’s, warmth radiating through your entire body.

👹 what's the craziest thing you've done on halloween?
(For everyone! Have fun and happy Halloween!)
Faelen:
"Possibly the time Ashe took us to the abandoned, haunted castle. We didn't know others would be there and everyone ended up scaring each other on accident several times. It really is a maze in there, but it was pretty fun and we had a good laugh after we all ended up in the courtyard together and realized what was going on."
Ashe:
"Agreed. Most definitely the haunted castle. I swear we ran into literal demons in there. It was terrifying."
Cerelia:
"Accepting an assassination scheduled on Halloween is most definitely the craziest thing anyone could do... A few vampires that didn't necessarily need to die went back to their coffins early that night."
Kuro:
"Letting Shiro decide which haunted castle we were going to visit."
Shiro:
"I tried to pull a prank on Kuro and spook him... I forgot his answer to fear is violence and he stabbed me..."
Azure:
"Once I tried to carve a pumpkin, bake pumpkin pie and make a halloween party cake all in one day... The pie caught fire and I couldn't get the cake in because we needed to clean the oven but Sebastian though the whipped cream was still tasty."
Aria:
"I stayed out after dark once and didn't get turned into a pumpkin!"
Ian:
"My sister and I tried to see who could fit the most candy corn into their mouth without choking. Dad also decided that would be the perfect time to try and scare us. Mom wasn't too happy with any of us, but no one died."
Mun:
The craziest thing I think I ever did on Halloween was decide to date my ex. Ah, silly teenage me. That was many years ago.

Virgil ran a corn leaf through his fingers.
It was the depth of summer and the sky was brilliant with sun, the corn silks drying and brown above swollen husks while the giant flower heads at the top of each plant danced in the wind.
Ever so tall.
Cornstalks rustled as if speaking to each other, whispering his name.
He couldn’t see out of the field. It appeared to go on forever and he didn’t know how he had ended up in the maze in the first place.
Scott had been yelling his name. There had been pain and movement and Grandpa urging him on.
But now there was just the cornfield.
The wind hissed.
They weren’t supposed to play amongst the corn. There were snakes in the field and Grandma did not like losing sight of her charges.
Of course, Scott had dragged him in once.
Only once.
The field was mysterious and exciting. They hadn’t gone far, but Grandpa had discovered them and the fallout had been extensive.
They both learnt that day exactly why they shouldn’t go into the cornfield as Grandpa had found a snake, showed it to them and then listed off exactly what happened to someone who was bitten.
Scott hadn’t been a fan of snakes ever since.
Of course, Grandma followed that lecture up with some extensive first aid training for what to do if you were bitten by a snake.
It had been a long few days after that.
They never went into the cornfield again.
Until now.
And Scott wasn’t here.
Virgil shivered. He wasn’t a kid anymore and had faced far worse dangers than a snake infested cornfield, but there was something more going on here.
He knew it deep in his soul.
His IR uniform was gone and in its place his comfortable flannel shirt, jeans and boots were a stark contrast against the green stalks.
The leaf was rough between his fingertips, silica strong, almost like wire, but sharper, prone to those thin slices like paper cuts.
“Virgil.”
He startled. His name was sudden, yet as whispered on the wind as the rattling leaves.
“Gordon?”
The wind shook stalks and continued to whisper unintelligibly, ignoring him.
Two hands landed on his shoulders.
His gasp was swallowed as those small hands gently turned him around on the spot.
Eyes dark and so like his own looked up at him with so much love any remaining fear evaporated and fluttered away.
“Mom?”
-o-o-o-
Scott stood in a hospital doorway still wearing the suit he wore for the press conference yesterday.
He felt grimy and he was sprouting stubble on his chin to match his lack of self care over the last forty-eight hours or so. He wasn’t sure of the exact number.
Numbers hurt.
The door he was standing in wasn’t Virgil’s. No, he had left his brother for yet another necessary task as the eldest, the protector of his family.
John had offered to do it for him, but Scott felt an irrational and driven need to see that what his brother had given everything for was worth it.
Of course, every life was worth it. That was the Tracy motto.
But Scott was human. Ever more so now he was in pain. And he felt the need to make sure...it was worth it.
The paediatric ward was brightly painted. A stark lie to the children it contained in an attempt to distract them from the pain these halls actually contained.
The tiny figure in the bed was quiet, strawberry blond hair falling over closed eyes. He looked much more peaceful now he wasn’t bleeding.
Scott was grateful Virgil had succeeded in saving the little boy. His name was John and he did look a little like Gordon.
Toddler Gordon.
Despite everything, Scott did smile just a little. At age three, Gords had been an absolute terror. Virgil, for whatever reason, had taken it upon himself to prevent the little brat from killing himself or others and the resultant hilarity of watching his twelve year old brother chase after the three year old was legendary.
Until the day Virgil actually did save Gordon. Fish baby or no, a dam on the farm was no place for a three year old.
Although this was not Gordon, this little boy was just as lucky as Scott’s little fish brother, even if it took the rest of the Tracys to finally get him out from under that building.
Little John had two broken legs, some nasty bruising, and had inhaled far too much concrete dust and fumes. This last coupled with some internal bleeding and a three year old’s tiny body had made it very touch and go. Virgil had protected him as much as he could, but there had only been so much his critically injured brother could do.
But the doctors had saved him and although he had a tough path ahead, Virgil hadn’t risked himself in vain.
It was worth it.
Worth the lax and non-responsive figure in that too white bed on the other side of the hospital.
Scott swallowed hard.
Focus.
The boy’s mother finally caught sight of him and he forced himself to straighten up and feign presentability.
“Mr Tracy!” She hurried over, eyes wide. “Ohmigod, I don’t know how to thank you enough.”
Something must have shown in his eyes because hers widened and she held herself back.
“Come in, sir. Have a seat.” She stepped away and offered him one of the same plastic hospital chairs he had already spent a good part of the day sitting in on the other side of the building.
He held up a kind hand. “No, no, I’m only here for a moment. I just wanted to see how little John was doing.”
The woman’s breath was harsh at the mention and he prayed she wouldn’t burst into tears because he did not have the reserves right now and would likely join her.
She glanced at her son. “The doctors expect him to make a full recovery thanks to your brother.” A pause and he knew what she was going ask. “How is he?”
The image of Virgil lying ever so still, head swathed in bandages from literal brain surgery coupled with a belly full of even more stitches...
“He’s...” Another harsh swallow. “...hanging in there.”
The gentle hand on his arm nearly broke him.
He drew in a breath and mentally shook himself. “Um, I came over here to give you this.” He held out the piece of paper he had signed himself not twenty minutes ago. “When...” He tried again. God, he was tired. “When people heard Virgil was injured he was sent gifts and money.” They were still coming in. His brother was truly loved by the general public. Virgil Tracy and his giant flying green machine. Virgil would smile and wave it off, but really, people loved him. “My brothers and I know that Virgil would want you to have this, to help John in his recovery.” The cheque had a considerable number of zeros written on it.
Her eyes widened as she read them. “My god.” She blinked. “Thank you. I can’t lie. We need this. But...but what about the others?”
“Virgil saved the rest. There were some minor injuries. They’ve all been seen to.” He glanced at the bed. “John was the last one.” Scott blinked rapidly. John’s babysitter hadn’t made it, killed in the initial collapse. John had been very, very lucky.
“Thank you.” And her hands were clutching his arm again.
Scott looked down at her. Virgil would definitely want this. He dropped his hand over hers. “You’re welcome.” Now he had to leave.
She nodded and let him go. But she didn’t step back, only staring up at him.
“Mr Tracy, all my hopes for your brother...”
Scott nodded abruptly, but had no more words. A dip of his head as he backed out of the room and stalked down the hallway.
All his hopes...

Parkner Writer’s Spotlight!
Hi y’all it’s your favorite time of the week!
This week’s Writer’s Spotlight goes to @michellejones-stacy, who was nominated by anon.
Tumblr media
They are known for some amazing fluff pieces and bring some interesting tropes to life. Their works are magically and spectacular. They have brilliant ideas and some incredible works that are always a pleasure to read. Give it up for michellejones_Stacy!
Here are some of our fic recs for them:
i'm standing here wondering - This particular incident was weird because Peter’s shoe was brown. Literally. The shoe was brown and soaking wet, looking to be caked with mud. And so was Peter himself. Harley couldn’t help but feel a little thrown off because Peter was cute. And, more importantly, he was covered in mud and dirt. His brown hair—or, Harley was guessing it was brown, as it was hard to tell with the - mud—was plastered down his forehead and the top of his head, and his face and neck were streaked with dirt, and his clothes were downright filthy, and yet he was grinning happily like it wasn’t bothering him. And, yeah, Harley was kind of interested at that point. or Harley and Gwen go to a fair - complete with a corn maze - and they run into some of Gwen's friends from school. One of them is Peter Parker, and Harley immediately wants to hug him. Or hold his hand. Or both.
Sweet heart of yours - "Oh, you're my floor neighbor," Harley said casually. All Cute Guy did was nod, his face a flaming red. Harley let him out of the elevator first, slowly making his way to his own apartment. He watched as Cute Guy unlocked his door and then practically ran into his apartment, slamming the door shut behind him. Okay then. or Peter and Harley live next to each other, their friends are meddlesome but well-meaning, and Spider-Man, apparently, likes to get involved in the lives of strangers who find him bleeding on their bathroom floor. CW: blood and injuries
feeling this way - Harley threw his head back in laughter, and Peter was helpless to do anything more than let his eyes trace Harley’s jaw and the line of his throat, and let his mind focus on the way his eyelashes rested against his cheeks as his curls shifted backward to match the strong tilt of his head.
This was big. This was so big. This was the universe contracting to fit inside the cavity in Peter’s chest, filling his sternum with warmth and love and home and filling his thoughts with Harley, Harley, Harley. or Peter and Harley (along with the rest of the family they've forged together) are on a road trip to Rose Hill, Tennessee. And that would normally be fine, but there's one very important thing Peter didn't account for: He's in love with Harley Keener, and he is really bad at dealing with it.

halloween with skz
a/n : wow we do be soft rn ( rare ) also written at 4 am and not edited damn i really need to start sleeping-
warning : uhh suggestive when it comes to changbin but we cool otherwise
summary : so basically a halloween/fall with the boys, with a four-ish sentence pov :D
ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ•̫͡•ʔ
chan : hot chocolate drinking and watching a movie in your pajamas. chan would love to cuddle up on that cold night and just be with the love of his life.
- you sighed with happiness as you curled up against your boyfriend's warm, safe body. he finally had some free time, and immediately used it to cuddle with you. you smelled the spices from the hot chocolate and smiled as chan wrapped his arm around your shoulder. you really were the happiest person alive.
minho : tping a bitch's house. minho would love to feel the adrenaline that comes from tping another's house (i wouldnt know pshh) and would probably kiss you on the spot.
- you felt the cool wind on your face as you took off on a run with your smirking boyfriend. of course this had been his idea of "some fun." nevertheless, you couldn't stop yourself from whooping with joy half way to your car. you couldn't tell what was better, the smile on minho's face, or the white tp that was standing out against the dark of the night. "a fucking masterpiece."
changbin : get lost in a corn maze. changbin would love to be alone with you, stuck in a maze. he would get flirty, but pout as you walk away, trying to actually get out of the maze. but then he would make you pay attention to him ;) are you lost babygirl ykyk
- "pay attention to me!!" changbin whined as you kept walking towards each exit. for the last hour, your boyfriend and you had done nothing except get stuck deeper into this maze. changbin crossed his arms as you turned around to kiss his still pouting lips. you wouldn't have it any other way.
hyunjin : go apple picking. hyunjin is a tall hoe and so would love to show off his "apple picking skills". in truth, he would probably scream whenever an apple accidentally fell, and would sheepishly grin at you when he ran towards you to protect himself.
"almost there..." hyunjin whispered to himself as he stretched his long arms towards the perfect looking apple. "come on..." that's when three apples came tumbling down at him immediately. giving out a shriek, hyunjin ran towards you, wrapping himself around you like a koala. "i think im scarred now..."
jisung : jumping in leaves together. we all know jisung is a chaotic baby, and would literally smile so hard seeing you jump in crunchy leaves. might laugh if you trip though
- "badada~" jisung hummed as he grabbed your hand and squeezed it. You were outside, proudly standing in front of a huge pile of leaves. No one was around to judge you or anything. You looked at jisung tentatively for a second, and jumped into the crunchy leaves, giggling happily.
felix : pumpkin carving. felix would love to bond over something as simple as pumpkin carving, and would coo over how adorable your pumpkin is.
- "oh my fucking god..." felix whispered with love as you showed him your absolute gremlin of a pumpkin. it had been cruelly stabbed into a smiley face, and compared to felix's pumpkin, looked like trash. you scratched the back of your neck awkwardly as felix's smile grew on his face. "that's so fucking cute..."
seungmin : scaring the absolute shit out of people. seungmin would dress both you and him up and drive around the neighborhood trying to scare people. you would have a race to see who could scare the most people, and the loser would have to try and scare minho.
- "shit!" another person screamed as you and seungmin turned around slowly, smiling at them like the clown from IT. you pumped your fist in victory as seungmin reluctantly drew another line on your side of the scare-o-meter. there was no other way to celebrate halloween, period.
jeongin : trick or treating, but just for himself. doesnt matter if you like it or not, hes getting that candy. he would probably count out all of his candy and then yours and end up sharing anyway.
- "y/n!!" jeongin pouted as he counted your candy again. out of all of the days of the year, this was the one where he acted most like a baby. you found it adorable.

Taxi camila cabello
It’s funny how they only relate the song to matthew because of the line english man and yet discarded the entire lyrics of the song:
1) during their PR, the two could barely be seen separated. It’s like they were glued to each other. In taxi’s lyrics - “we ran out of time again tonight. And it happens everytime.”
Sounds like camila is spending time with someone on a very limited timeframe. Like camila is exasperated that their tender moments must cease until their next encounter. Yeah, these two lines clearly speak of matthew. CLEARLY! No arguments here! Enough camren shippers! *sarcasm* (disclaimer: sorry need to emphasize the word sarcasm here. Since people are in the virtual world most of the time, there has been incremental reports in the decline of people’s ability to detect sarcasm)
2) “Darling, I think that this might be the greatest love story. That's never been, never been, never been, never been easy”
oh yeah again totally proves it’s about matthew. Like liven people! Are you blind? I totally see it. The greatest love story is about a man and a woman that has never been easy. No wonder i see men and women couples everywhere. Like my dad and mom, my brother and his wife, my officemates and their respective husbands. Oh yeah and the wedding rate between a man and a woman across the globe is quite phenomal too. Ok, so what’s so great about a love story that i see as common as the sky is blue? And what is so difficult about it that everyone around me could do it? Is it classified as great that it’s legendary? (Do i need to insert another disclaimer here? I think by now i don’t need to right?) Oh i know. It’s so legendary that they could not contain themselves and ended up breaking the relationship. Quite right. Moving on, shall we?
3) “Where the hell have you been hiding?” Probably from the damn public or the management. Who knows really? But who am I kidding? Who am i really referring to? This song is about matthew. What’s he hidding from? You both didn’t bother to hide when you were lip locking in the damn park! Oh i get it! He’s hidding in the trunk of the taxi cab that’s why camila titled the song as taxi. She found an english man hidding in a taxi cab’s trunk. And that’s how the greatest love story has been foretold.
“We'll tell the moon when we're old” ok let’s throw a bone to my fellow delusional camren shippers. We have to wait for century until they confirm it. We all heard it straight from the horse’s mouth. They’re only going to tell the moon when they’re old. So prepare for launch off people it’s going to be a long bumpy ride.
“The greatest love story that's never been told” if it’s love between a man and a woman which is so special, so legendary, so great that’s never been told because almost the entire population of the world has been doing it, why was it never been told again? Unless... ok stop, stop, just stop right there! This is about matthew! Sure... I get it. It’s never been told because everyone’s doing it and getting married and having children that really there’s no need to tell. Everyone already knows it. So cliche man. Let’s carry on even i’m getting bored.
4)
5) were you waiting for number 4? It has never been told before remember? So let’s just move on to number 5 shall we?
“Funny how no one knows all of our inside jokes (ah! Now we know why whoever that person is laughed at all of camila’s jokes... wait, wait, wait, wrong person. I’ll just pretend i did not write this)
You know my demons by name, I know your beautiful soul (is this why both of them speak of healing? Like they both are in therapy? Wait, who are we talking about again? Or why they have these secretive looks that held KFCs secret spices *cough* getting side tracked here)
All of the secret we keep, you know that I'll never leave” (hmmm... more secrets locked away in vaults.... you two and all your secrecy. Sure you’d been so secretive that the park incident just kind of happened right? Just to be clear, like i’ve written there has been steady decline in the ability to detect sarcasm and i might be suffering from one as well, we’re still referring to matthew here right? So the public news of your break up was a setup? How could you?!)
Just a question here: have any of you ever heard matthew laugh at camila’s jokes? No really? I’m serious this time, or not. Either way... it’s never been told. Carry on.
6) “And yet, there's still so much left to unfold
The greatest love story that's never been told” ah so matthew and camila pretended to break up publicly, so camila could pursue another public relationship with shawn and then.. ok, what is the point again? Because there is so much left untold for couples who broke up? Is that it? Because again the greatest love story that’s never been told is about a couple ending up being torn apart right? That was what camila is saying here right? Ah i see where this is going. She never got the chance to talk about the break up. Yup! She was salty about that. Did she even address it directly? I can’t remeber. Maybe she also wanted to make a remake of the movie the break up. Who knows really? Last i heard camila’s brain is like a corn maze only the deserving ones could run through it and crack the code.
Now, that we’ve proven that it’s all about matthew. I think it’s time to speak to my fellow delusional camren shippers again. This outro part is what we call a point retention if the song lyrics was a speech. The purpose of point retention is quite literal. It’s an emphasis for us to retain the sole intention or meaning or message behind the speech or in this case song. I’ll just highlight it. There is no need to go in deep with camren shippers. They know how to read between the lines: “And yet, there's still so much left to unfold. The greatest love story that's never been told”

📚 - corn maze (I know it's two, but I think Ronnie would have some amusing stories to share :D)
lol i love that hell yeah!! thank you doll 🥳💙💙 i've got a good idea for this lolol
Stalks of corn rustled quietly as Veronica and Hana made their way towards the peggie outpost on the outskirts of the cornfield. They'd been chatting, but with a noise in the distance they'd gone quiet.
When all was silent Veronica murmured to her companion, "You know... being in a corn field gives me the heeby jeebies."
Hana paused her gait to glance at Ronnie with a questioning smile, asking "You're scared of the... cornfield? Not the mass of jacked cultists up ahead?"
She pondered it for a moment and then confirmed, "Cornfield. Definitely." When the brunette said nothing, she continued. "Once when I was in college, me and this guy were out with my group of friends, drunk as shit. We decided to do something spooky for October and we drove out to this haunted corn maze." She crouched down as she spoke, signalling that they may be there for a moment.
"Fast forward to a couple hours later, me and the dude are lost in the maze alone. So what does he say? 'Hey Ronnie, let's make out, there's no one around!'" As she imitated her past fling, V adapted a gruff, low tone. She cleared her throat before moving on, "Well this was one of those mazes where there are people that jump out and scare the fuck out of you, but we hadn't seen one in a minute and we were being quiet... so we get down to it."
At this point Hana had crouched down as well, holding her rifle loosely. She listened intently, her lips curved in an amused smirk.
V leaned in conspiratorially- "He definitely knew what he was doing, and I'll admit.. I'm kind of loud." She chuckled lowly, remembering the encounter fondly. Her face turned as she sighed. "So the next part is probably my fault. Things were just getting hot and heavy when we heard a growl. And shortly after the growl, and I'll never forget this, a man in a scarecrow outfit (scary mask and all) jumped out from behind a row of corn. I jumped back, and when my guy saw him..." She grimaced as she told it, "He literally ran away screaming. And I think he left the town entirely, because I never saw him again."
Hana's mouth dropped open, and she stifled her laughter... unsuccessfully. "Never again?" She gasped.
"Never again!" Veronica nodded, laughing to herself. "So I guess the moral of the story is... cornfields are not the place to be."
The pair laughed together for a moment, but were quickly silenced when they heard a rustle just ahead of them. Both deputies became still as they listened intently.
Suddenly- a peggie jumped out of the corn and into sight, growling "Sinners!"
Without hesitation the women rushed forward with a shovel and a baseball bat respectively, bashing the cultist on either side of the head. He swooned a moment before crumpling to the ground- where they finished him off easily.
Both breathed heavily for a moment before each regarded the other with a smile. With a look of renewed understanding, Hana nodded to Veronica, "Fuckin' cornfields!"

Apple Picking

Gadreel and the reader drabble for Gadtober!
Tumblr media
Before now, you didn’t have a favorite season. How could you, when every season was just as full of monsters as the rest? No matter if it was flowering, green, orange or frosty, there were always things waiting around the corner, more hunts to go on, more lives to save. So you’ve never paid attention to the changing season.
Until now.
It started with the fact that the chances of finding a hunt were becoming slimmer recently, much to yours and the boys’ pleasure. It was nice to finally have free time and you took advantage of it while it was here, but it soon became too much. Everyone was experiencing major cabin fever, especially Gadreel. The poor angel wasn’t built for the indoors, really. He was literally created for the garden of Eden- someplace green with lush plants and fruit trees and flowers and fertile soil- not some dark underground bunker. He was getting homesick, being cramped up in the bunker, you could tell. He was quiet and always had a far-off look in his eyes.
So you decided to take Gadreel out. And what better place to take an angel who missed his home than to a cute little orchard for apple picking in the heart of fall?
It was the perfect date. It was October, and the weather was getting a bit chilly, but you wouldn’t want to be anywhere but here. The sun glistened above the apple trees, warming you in the otherwise cool afternoon. It was so green, so lush and beautiful and speckled with red and yellow-green gems of fruit. Small step ladders sat next to each of the taller trees, granting access to the delicious treasures.
“Look at all this! Isn’t it so cute?”
Gadreel looked down to you, a look of contentedness on his face. “I do enjoy this. Thank you for bringing me.”
“Of course. We needed to get out of there, don’t you think?” You sighed, taking in the beautiful surroundings. “Alright, let’s pick some apples!” You handed Gad one of the baskets you’d been carrying and moved over to the closest tree, hopping up the step ladder. Gadreel was silent for a moment, glancing back and forth between the basket and the apple tree.
“Why do we need to gather fruit if we already have sufficient food at the bunker?”
“Because it’s fun. And anyway, we don’t have any fresh fruit at home.” You smiled, plucking the first apple from the tree. “Get up here and help me.”
You picked apples until your baskets were full and the sky was turning gray and cloudy, and sat perched on top of your step ladders, teaching Gad of other fall traditions. "Ooh, we should go to a corn maze, too! Maybe I'll make apple cider when we get home!" You picked another apple from the tree and took a bite out of it, not caring about the juice running down your chin. "Mmm, wow. It's been so long since I had such fresh apples." You saw Gadreel take a look at one curiously before picking it up.
"I have never had any Earthly foods."
"Never?"
"When I am in my celestial form I cannot consume subsidence, nor do I need it. I have heard from Castiel, though, that human food is too processed and just tastes like molecules."
"Well, this is natural, right? Not tampered with by us humans. Try it." And he did. You watched as he took a cautious bite out of the shiny red apple, not used to the crunch it made and the juice that ran down his face. He wiped away at his mouth and continued chewing his first bite, eyes lighting up in interest.
“It… tastes familiar. It tastes like my memories of Eden”
“So you like it?”
“I do.”
“That’s good.” You sat gazing at him for a while longer, just watching the melancholic look in his eyes as he ate. But you were pulled out of your trance at the low rumble of thunder in the distance and the drip drip drip of raindrops on the leaves above you. “We should probably go before it starts-” On cue, a soft drizzle set in. Rain is beautiful, sure, except for when you’re stuck in it with nowhere to run too. But, you know, you’re already wet so what’s the point in trying to rush out of it? You jumped down off of your perch with Gadreel following behind you, grabbing the basket of apples and smiling.
“My light, are you not cold?”
“Yeah. But it’s worth it.” You grabbed ahold of his hand and leaned up to meet his apple-flavored lips. “Come on, let's head home, angel.”
So yeah, even soaked to the bone in the chilly October air, shoes ruined with mud, you were sure that this was still your favorite season.

Hi can I have a Jojo x Reader where she is really quiet and he's really outgoing and she really likes him a lot and she doesn't know that he likes her back? (your Finch soccer fic has my dead I love it ❤️)
(Dude, thanks.)
The perks of going to a cider mill in the fall included, though were not limited to: pumpkins, corn mazes, apple cider, those cute little gourds that you saw kids carrying around, friggin’ bomb donuts, and the fact that JoJo was going to be there.
The rest of your friends, too, but JoJo.
The major downside to going to a cider mill was the fact that pretty much everybody in the country enjoyed all of those things, so you had to deal with a bazillion other people in the process.
“This is heaven,” JoJo said.  “It’s my favorite thing.”
“Totally.”
“If I see one more little kid in a giant sweater, I might actually die of happiness,” he said.
You grinned at him.  He had been stoked to come, but his delight only increased the longer you stayed.  He ate too much, bought too much, and smiled too much.  It was hard to be uncomfortable about the crowds when he was walking with you.
You looked back toward the corn maze.  “Do you think Race and Albert are out yet?”
“No,” he snorted.  “They won’t finish unless they cheat.”
The boys had never managed to get out of the maze without cutting through the rows of corn, but they were convinced that this was the year.  This was the year that they would actually win the maze, and it would be purely aboveboard.
You and JoJo had finished a half hour prior, and the boys hadn’t come out yet.
“We should go through again,” you said.  JoJo gave a slow, deliciously sly smile while you continued.  “I want to lap them.”
“I love it,” he said, and dragged you back to the entrance.
Race, JoJo, and Albert had always been as thick as thieves.  Since most activities were better suited for two people than three, you often tagged along on whatever fun they had planned.  Realistically, you knew that you were there to keep someone from being left out.  In practice, it was easy to pretend that you had been included on merit alone.
You ended up with a different boy in different situations.  Race would grab you when he needed somebody to make him look less problematic.  Albert was as suspect as Race was, and JoJo’s smile could convince anybody that some master plan had been executed.  If Race was standing by you, he just might get away with something.
Albert liked working with you academically.  Even if the two of you couldn’t figure out how to do the work, he stood a better chance at paying attention if you say with him.
JoJo stood with you during social situations.  It was strange; he absolutely adored socializing, and you always felt a step behind in large groups.  It would have made more sense for him to hang out with people who loved public situations, but he always ended up with you.
Maybe it was a pity pairing.  Maybe he just liked you well enough to choose you above all others.  You wouldn’t complain either way.
You ran into Race and Albert about halfway through.  “Hey, guys.  Having a rough time?”
Albert gave a relieved sigh at the sight of you.  “Man, it’s harder than usual this year.  I don’t know how they can expect kids to figure this out.”
JoJo gave a small squeak in his attempt not to laugh.  “Totally.  How long have you been at it?”
Race checked his phone.  “Over an hour.”  He frowned.  “What do you mean?  You’re still in here too.”
JoJo looked at you.  “This is, what, our sixth time through?  Seventh?”
You squinted at the sky.  “Let’s see - there was the first time -”
“The time we did it blindfolded -”
“Hopping on one foot -”
Albert took off his beanie and smacked you with it.  “You guys are the worst.”
JoJo laughed.  “Just because you guys don’t know how to read a map -”
“Using the map is cheating,” Race said haughtily.  “That’s why you guys finished so fast.”
“Well,” you said, “we didn’t use it the time we were blindfolded, so there’s that.”
JoJo linked his arm with yours on the way out of the maze, and you thought you could understand why couples liked going to cider mills together.  It was easy to imagine loving someone in a place like this.
It was just as easy to imagine loving him later that night, when the atmosphere was different and JoJo was the same.
The fact was, JoJo was easy to like.  He smiled a lot, and laughed at most of your jokes.  He made you funnier.  He made you feel smarter.  He made you feel like you could probably talk to people more, if you really wanted to.  He made you feel like a much better version of yourself, and that was a dangerous was to feel.  Feeling that way was addictive, and hard to come down from.
“I’m telling you, we could be the best cryptid hunters,” JoJo insisted.  He made the pitch every few weeks.  After graduation, he said, the two of you ought to buy one of those Mystery Machine style vans and scrounge North and South America for creatures in hiding.
If the suggestion hadn’t always arisen after he thought about things like college and careers, you might have taken him a little more seriously.
“You just want to be like Buzzfeed Unsolved,” you said.
He shifted in his chair to look at you directly.  “We’ll be better than that.  We’ll be straight up Ghostbusters.  But, like, without capturing the cryptids.  You know what I mean.”
You did.  “Which one would you be?”
“Which one is the cutest?”  He laughed when you threw a pillow at him.  “We’ll be our own thing.  No comparisons necessary.”
JoJo would be Bill Murray.  He would be the one who had no trouble talking to people, who people wanted to have answers for.  You wouldn’t be so good at that, but it was fun to imagine a life where you were.  If that life included traveling the world with your best friend, even better.
“Let’s do it,” he sighed again.
“Alright,” you said.  “You buy the van.  I’ll handle snacks.”
“That doesn’t seem fair.”
“If we do it long enough, I’m sure that I’ll match your expenses.”  He rolled his eyes at you, so you made a sound of defeat.  “Alright, I’ll design and buy our t-shirts, too.”
“Oh, big spender,” he teased.
“Your plan, your losses,” you said.  “You’ll be lucky enough to have my company.”
“That’s the truth,” he said.  “JoJo and Y/N, dream team.  No doubt.”  When he said it like that, you believed him.
You went to grab a drink from the kitchen, hoping that the break in the conversation would remind you that it was only ever like this when nobody else was around.  It wasn’t realistic to imagine a life with JoJo being exactly the way it was when it was just the two of you.  There would always be other people.  There would always be other plans.  JoJo would end up with somebody more like him, and you would end up hanging out on your own.
“You’re very quiet,” the old woman said thoughtfully.
“Yeah,” you agreed.  You weren’t sure that there was a good response to that.
“You should smile more,” she said.  “People won’t mind as much if you smile more.”
You winced.  There definitely wasn’t a good, kind response to that.
JoJo took a step forward, positioning himself so he was almost more of a part of the conversation than you were.  It was a relief to step away.  “Y/N only smiles when there’s something to smile about.  She’s great that way.”
The old woman made a few polite, mildly appalled sounds before excusing herself to talk to somebody else.
“Jesus Christ,” JoJo said, nearly impressed.  “Family friends are the worst.”
“Preach.”
“Old people birthday parties are supposed to be cute,” he said.  “She wasn’t cute at all.”
You laughed.  “She really wasn’t.”
“You aren’t too quiet.”
“I know,” you said.  That wasn’t quite true; you probably were too quiet, at times.  It just seemed like no matter how much you talked to people, you never got much better at it.  Your friends were some of the only people who made talking feel like less than a chore, and that was hard to explain.  It was easier to sit back and let other people lead.
“And you smile often enough,” he said.  “As long as you’re smiling at my jokes, you’re filling the quota.”
You nodded, nearly rolling your eyes.  “Totally.  As long as I hang out with you all the time, nobody can ever say that I’m not smiling enough.”
“Easy enough,” JoJo said cheerily.  “We’ll have to hang out more.  We’ll have to be literally attached at the hip.”
“Literally?”
“Literally,” he said solemnly.
“That’s gross,” you said.
JoJo laughed, and nobody could have said that you weren’t smiling enough.  Nobody would have thought that you were too quiet.
“Race is probably gonna, like, be one of those high school teachers that pretends that he can be best friends with the students.”  Elmer was laying on his back, taking his shot at imagining what everybody’s future would be like.  “The one that tries to use cool slang and rag on other teachers, you know?”
Race made an appalled sound.  “I would never be a teacher.”
“But you won’t deny the fake cool thing?”
“I would never be a teacher,” he said again, and you laughed.
Everybody thought that Davey would be one of those professors that had elbow patches.
Mush would own some sort of business, and his workers would be grossly overpaid because he’s too good for the universe.
Katherine would, of course, be a writer.  A scathing, world changing writer.
“JoJo and Y/N are probably going to get married someday,” Katherine said dreamily.  She took one of the cookie pieces off of her Oreo, careful not to peel up any frosting in the process.  “They’ll have normal jobs, and normal kids, and be the happiest of all of us.”
Jack applauded.  “Way to go, guys.  Mad props.”
You gave an uncomfortable smile, careful not to meet JoJo’s eyes.  “Yeah, no, I don’t think JoJo and I would work out.”
“That’s ridiculous,” Katherine scoffed.  Some of the guys agreed, and Katherine raised her eyebrows at you as though the consensus alone proved that you were wrong.  “You guys would be great.  You always make sure that the other person is happy.  What more could you want?”
“That’s not - I’m not saying that we wouldn’t make each other happy.  JoJo is my main man,” you said.  You grinned at him; maybe most of the words weren’t happy ones, but JoJo being your friend would always be a happy thing.  Whether you were satisfied with it or not, JoJo was always a source of happiness.  “He’s the best.  But we’re really different.”
JoJo leaned forward in his seat.  “How?”
“Like, you really like being around people.  I don’t like that at all,” you said.
“You’re people,” he pointed out.  “I’m just as jazzed when it’s the two of us as I am with thirty other people.”
“Everything makes you smile.  I’m hardly ever as happy as you,” you said.
He shrugged, nearly letting soda slosh over the rim of his cup.  “If I make you smile, that’s good enough.”
You threw your hands up, defeated and a little annoyed.  “If you’re so hellbent on proving me wrong, let’s just date.”  There was something scathing and sarcastic about the way you said it, but JoJo was unbothered.
“Okay,” JoJo said.  “Let’s date.”
A hush fell over the room.  You gaped at JoJo, and he stared back with no trace of humor on his face.
“Let’s give them some privacy,” Katherine said.  For once, nobody fought her.  For once, all of your friends managed to keep their heads out of everybody else’s business.  They left the basement, and you were alone with JoJo.
“I like you,” JoJo said.  “A lot.  I’m not saying that you have to agree to marry me now, but I think that you and I being You-and-I is worth a shot.”
“I had no idea that you liked - that you wanted -” you croaked.
“Everybody else did,” he said wryly.  “Seriously, everybody else knows.  People in China probably know.”
You didn’t know what to say.  This wasn’t how you imagined things going.  Really, you hadn’t imagined it much at all.  You hadn’t ever thought that there was a point to imagining this.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to,” he said seriously.  “I know that the whole cryptid hunting thing is never going to happen.  If you don’t want to be together like that, I won’t be upset with you.”
“I really want that,” you said.  That, at least, you knew for sure.  “I do want to be together like that.”
“Really?”
“That would be my favorite thing,” you said, and he laughed.  He laughed, and you thought that maybe the two of you weren’t too different after all.

Ravenclaw!Hyunjin PT 2
Ah, finally for the very requested part 2 of my Ravenclaw!Hyunjin hehe
Enjoy the very last Hogwarts AU i will write cuz i am not doing anymore part 2′s for this lmao XDD
Read pt 1 first!
Soon enough, the last event of the Triwizard tournament was around the corner. Anxiety was constantly bubbling behind my strong facade, but as a winner was to be announced by the end of this week, I couldn’t hide my anxiety much longer.
“Why are you just standing there?” I heard a voice ask, making me jump back.
“Agh!” I exclaimed lamely, not knowing there was anyone in the same room as me. The girl scoffed, giving a slight smirk.
“Tsk tsk, this isn’t how a Triwizard champion acts, Hyunjin. You’re supposed to always be on guard, I thought we learned that when our friends were literally snatched from our sides and placed in the water.” My mood darkened, remembering how I felt seeing Jisung bob in the water like a statue.
“This thing is crazier than I expected it to be.” The girl laughed loudly, making the noise jump off walls. And laugh caused quite the ruckus in my heart.
“You’re telling me, I didn’t even sign up for this shit.” She cursed, making me laugh.
“Well, maybe it was just meant to be.” She shrugged, making me feel nervous. Throughout these past weeks of the tournament, we got surprisingly close. Well, ok, closer than I ever thought we would be.
“Still, I mean-” The girl sighed, making me worry. I slightly grabbed her arm to turn her around.
“Hey, what’s the matter?” I asked. She plucked my hands off her arm and frowned.
“It’s just.” She scooted closer to me, so close I could feel her breath on my neck.
“I have a bad feeling about this last event, I don’t know why, but my gut is never wrong. Just, be careful.” She warned, leaving my side. This girl was always leaving me with mysteries. Yet, my heart warmed knowing she cared to talk to me about this.
The day of the event came faster than I thought and soon I was gearing up for battle in my Gryffindor gear.
“Listen champions, you will go through this maze and the goal is find the Triwizard cup, sound easy enough?” Y/n and I glanced at each other, we haven’t said a word yet.
“Well, if you thought that, you are wrong. This maze moves, it will try to hurt you, not everything is what it seems in there, ok? We expect you to not mess around and just go and find the cup as soon as you can, got it?” We all nodded in unison. The man smiled.
“Good.”
I heard the band playing, the students cheering, and the wind blowing which added to my anxiety. I took a deep breathe and closed my eyes. I heard a soft chuckle from beside me, making me open then.
“Don’t get scared yet, pretty boy. We haven’t even entered yet.” She mumbled as Headmaster was giving the audience a speech. I chuckled, giving the girl a soft smile.
“That’s why I’m scared, ‘cause I'm surrounded by a bunch of fangirls yelling my name and squealing.” That made her laugh. I loved making her laugh.
“Hey, the boys are screaming for you too, don’t you worry.” I laughed with her, but then the atmosphere turned serious.
“Now, we will let the 4 enter and the finale of the Triwizard tournament will end tonight!” Cheers erupted and the band started to play again once Headmaster stepped down from his podium. He walked towards us and gripped our shoulders.
“I am counting on you too, be careful out there, and please, watch over each other.” He looked at y/n directly and she shrugged at me.
I took in a deep breath right before I entered the maze, almost feeling like I Was going to run away.
Then, I felt a hand squeeze mine, making me flinch in surprise. I looked over to the person and saw y/n smiling at me.
“Don’t freak out man, this is for my own benefit too.” I gave her a small smile while a blush covered my face.
“It’s time.” Headmaster said. I nodded, staring intensely at y/n. She nodded.
“Y/n gets to go first since she won the last round.” I squeezed her hand tighter, but her grip fell once she walked forward.
“Awesome, see you there, pretty boy.” And then she was off. Headmaster looked at me.
“Listen to me Hyunjin, the maze changes people in there, if y/n happens to become on of those people, you are to leave her and go to the cup. I said the same thing to her so she will expect the same thing from you. But I will tell you now because I know you wouldn’t have been able to handle it before.” He slapped me on the back. “Now go, you were second last time.”
I calmed my mind and entered the maze.
It felt like a very gloomy corn maze you would go to as a child to get a pumpkin or something. The clouds above us were dark and stormy, adding to the creepy effect. I took a deep breathe and started running; I didn’t know where I was supposed to be going, but I knew I had to get somewhere fast.
Despite the maze being somewhat small, I didn’t run into anyone. I was alone for what felt like hours, just staring at tall corn stalks. I groaned, getting irritated at staying in such a secluded place for so long, and I wasn’t even doing anything.
I took a right turn, then took a left, following my instincts that I hoped wouldn’t fail me right now.
Then, as I turned a corner, I knocked into someone. I felt on my butt, yelling at myself for being so clumsy. I looked up and saw Mark from Durmstrang.
But, instead of the nice boy I’ve come to know, he was march towards me, wand raised.
“Hey, hey hey! Mark, it’s me, Hyunjin!” I yelled, trying to get through to him. So this is what Headmaster meant.
I ducked from his fire and ran. I didn’t want to hurt the boy, but if he got in my way, I would have to defend myself. I saw sparks flying and I ducked my head, trying my best to dodge his shots.
“Expelliarmus!” I yelled, firing my wand in his direction. I kept seeing sparks, so I know I missed.
“Dammit! Where is the goddamn cup!?” I scream, my stamina already running low.
I felt his spells become more rapid and then I bumped into someone else.
“Ack!” I yelled, falling on the ground. I didn’t have time to think too much before I had to roll out of the way to not get hit.
Then, I looked up and saw a gray-eyed Doyeon, similar to Mark. “Ah shit.” I exclaimed. She lifted her wand and I immediately knocked her over, knowing that would hurt less than a spell. But then I saw Mark raised his wand and hit me with a spell that made me fall to my knees in pain.
“Stupify!” I heard being yelled from a distance, making the two fly back and even knocking me on the ground. The whole world went dizzy but I felt myself being pulled up.
“Oh hell no Hyunjin, you’re going to have to get up and run!” I heard a familiar voice yell. I gasped for air, not feeling any enter my system. The whole world was titled and a dark gray, making me confused.
“Hyunjin, we don’t have time for this, I didn’t use that bad of a spell on them!” I heard a frantic voice yell. Huh, who is that?
Suddenly the person stopped moving then grabbed my face and I recognized those eyes.
“Please Hyunjin, I’m not going to leave you behind! Someone put a very powerful spell on Mark and Doyeon, and they’re going to come for the both of us if you don’t stop bitching and buck up!”
At those words, I felt feeling come back into my legs and my vision clear. I smiled widely.
“You’re not going to leave me behind?” I grinned dumbly. Y/n growled, still dragging me through the maze. I felt leaves whip past me and random things hit my body, but at least I was running now.
Then, the girl turned the corner, and gasped.
“What the fuck!?” She yelled, making me snap back to reality.
“What?” I asked with a husky voice. She groaned.
“The cup! It’s not there!” She said with a frantic voice. Then, all hell broke loose as two other wizards appeared. Y/n dropped me on the ground and yelled things I could barely hear over my own heart pounding from fear and pain.
“Locomotor!” I heard being yelled and then the two fly up in the air. Y/n tossed them to the side like dolls and then picked them up again.
“Accio!” She yelled once the cup suddenly reappeared.
Then it all went black.
I woke up surrounded by blurry bright white. I groaned, shifting slightly in my bed. This was it, I was dead and thankfully in heaven.
“Haha, I wish. I carried you all the way to the infirmary.” A harsh, yet girly voice side. My vision cleared up and I saw the dark hair of the Slytherin girl I’ve had my eyes on for the past few weeks entered my line of vision.
She was dirty and battered, dirt covering her arms and face. Even blotches of blood which made me jump up.
“You’re bleeding.” I said, my voice laced with concern. She laughed.
“Funny because I was the only person who came out of the competition not bleeding.” I gave her an empty stare.
“You don’t remember, do you?” She asked, a smile on her face. I shook my head, then groaned when it hurt. She leaned back in her chair.
“Well, I won, just saying. I don’t mean to brag, but that’s what happened and-”
“Yeah, I got it, y/n.” Even though my words were bitter, my tone was light. I was proud of the girl. She laughed, scooting close enough for me to figure out her vanilla perfume was still working.
“And then you got hit my Mark’s wand, he says sorry by the way. Mark and Doyeon were both charmed and I saved you from them, yay. Your arm was busted up so they brought you here ‘cause it was a pretty bad spell.”
I sat in silence at her story, really not remembering anything after the event. Then I realized something.
“Wait, did you say you carried me to the infirmary?” I asked surprised. I glanced over at her face which now was light pink. I choked out laughter, hiding my face. She growled.
“Yes, I did carry you. Which you shouldn’t be even laughing at ‘cause it shows how strong I am.” Her blushed deepened, but I could tell mine was too.
“Why did you even carry me? Don’t they have like, I don’t know, like real doctors to do that? Or Hagrid?” She went silent for a bit, her expression falling.
“You weren’t breathing.” She whispered. I grew confused at her words.
“What?”
“You weren’t breathing, dammit Hyunjin.” She stood, knocking over her chair.
“You weren’t breathing and I checked for a pulse and you had no pulse. I thought you were dead.” I felt emotion running through her throat, her words sounded clogged.
“Hey, look at me.” I whispered. She shook her head. Ugh, this girl always gives me a hard time.
“Y/n, look at me, please.” She turned and faced me, tears falling down her cheeks, making me feel terrible for not breathing. I extended my good hand to her.
“I’m here, ok? I’m fine now. I’m alive.” I spoke softly. I carefully sat up in my chair and her eyes widened.
“Hyunjin, what are you doing? Stop?” She exclaimed worriedly, touching my shoulder slightly which sent shocks through my body.
“Why are you sitting-”
“Because, I wanted to be at least sitting up to do this.”
I gathered up all my courage to lean forward and kiss her... but I couldn’t. I chickened out last minute.
A blush was spreading across my cheeks, making me feel embarrassed that I couldn’t even kiss her.
“You’re such a baby.” She pulled me in close, finally letting our lips meet. I sighed into the kiss, carefully pulling her closer to my mouth. I entangled my fingers in her hair and she gripped my shirt.
She then pulled away, making us both gasp for air.
I smiled at her, falling back on the bed, my chest going up and down.
“Definitely worth dying for.”

LOST IN TRANSLATION → KALFAB
TAGGING → Fab Pepikrankenitz (@itzfabi) & Kalasin Ambrosius
TIMELINE → Monday, October 23, 2017
SETTING → Halloween Festival Corn Maze
SUMMARY → Being lost in a corn maze is like a bad dream. Being lost inside with your ex is like a full-blown nightmare.
Kalasin had thought that she could get through Halloween without being overwhelmed by it all -- just take deep breaths, pretend that it was some crazy commercialized mortal holiday and not something that witches and wizards more like her sister and father took super seriously, forget it was the first holiday where she wouldn't have an other half to dress up with... She didn't know why she thought it would be easy, but after a couple hours of fun at the carnival it seemed like every little thing started to be a trigger. The couples strolling arm in arm, winning each other carnival prizes, the people dressed up as weird mockeries of witches, it was like she couldn't escape, until finally she ducked into the corn maze, figuring some time alone inside would clear her head. Kally had been inside for nearly an hour, and it was helping, actually -- or it had been, until she turned a corner to what she thought was the exit and found herself faced with another dead end instead. "No, seriously?" she whined, huffing as she turned around to start retracing her steps... only to find herself face to face with Fabi, of all people, and her heart dropped into her stomach.
Fab had decided to hit up the carnival for the food, mostly. He wasn't really a Halloween kind of guy -- costumes didn't really appeal to him unless they were funny, and candy wasn't really his thing (all sugar, no flavor usually). But food was something he could deal with -- caramel apples, wild popcorn flavors, fun spooky-themed snacks. They were all enticing to him. So, wearing his jack-o-lantern t-shirt just to be festive, he went to the carnival alone. This was his first Halloween in Walt as a single guy. He should have been excited to go to costume parties and hook up with girls or something. But he was mostly just emotionally eating everything he came in contact with. He'd ducked into one of the corn mazes with a large bucket of popcorn to be alone with his thoughts and, after a while, realized he was lost. Fabwas about to call one of the attendants for help, but then saw the familiar brown curls of his ex. He was fully prepared to dive behind the nearest cornstalk and hide, but it was too late. She saw him. Locking eyes with her, Fab sucked his teeth, trying to wriggle any popcorn kernels out of his gums before smiling a slightly-forced smile. "Hey," he said. "You lost too? I tried to do the 'put your hand on the wall and let it lead you out' trick but I think I did it wrong."
Kally nodded her head, at a loss for words. If it weren't for Fairy Godmother making sure magic didn't work inside of Walt, she might have thought she'd accidentally drawn him to her, for all the thinking about him she'd been doing today. But that was impossible; it was luck, probably of the bad variety, that had brought them together, not anything of her own doing. "Hey," she echoed back, scuffing the toe of her shoes along the ground, trying to keep her eyes focused on him instead of awkwardly dropping them down towards the ground. "Yeah, I guess I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going, it was so quiet in here and everything outside was... too much." She shrugged, swallowing a lump that had formed in her throat. She didn't know how to talk to him anymore -- that was probably the hardest part of all of this, although it felt like she was changing her mind on what the hardest part of not being with him anymore was on a daily basis. "I haven't tried that yet, but I was hoping maybe if I looked at where the sun is I could like, guess which direction the exit should be in." She shrugged, feeling like there was no real polite way to split up now, and she awkwardly mumbled, "Um, should we try to find the way out together? Two brains are better than one."
Fab wondered if this was some kind of sign. It wasn't every day a guy got literally trapped with his ex in the middle of a corn maze, unable to escape. It was funny -- Seven months of weirdness seemed to overshadow five years of togetherness. It was almost impossible to figure out what to say when he'd done it with such ease for nearly half a decade. "I get that," he nodded, noting that the scarers and performance stuff the fair had to offer was a lot less fun by himself, and he figured Kally could relate. "Interesting technique!" Fab tried to say enthusiastically, and it maybe came out a little too enthusiastic for his liking. His mind was probably trying to overcompensate for the way he was feeling, which was 'awkward'. Clearing his throat, he nodded coolly at Kally, thinking her plan was a good one. The more brainpower they had, the faster they could get out of there and out of this situation. "Sounds like a plan," he said as he began to walk in the direction he came from. "So -- who you here with? Dagny?" he asked, knowing that if she knew he was there alone he'd look kind of pathetic. But Dagny was their mutual friend, so if he lied and said he was with her when she was actually with her, she'd know he was lying.
Kally tried to smile in response, but she knew that it didn't meet her eyes, and her cheeks were probably puffed out -- a usual tell that she was faking it. He knew that about her, too; she was sure that she couldn't fool him, even now when it felt like they were practically strangers. Her memories hadn't just washed away like a sandcastle hit by high tide, and Kalasin had to believe that his hadn't, either. If they had, life was just playing a cruel joke on her, making her remember everything while he was allowed to forget and move on first. "It probably works a lot better on like, a regular hike and not one through man-made walls of corn, but it was the best I had," she said nonchalantly, missing the days where they might have tried something sillier or more off the wall to get out... or better yet, they might not have even minded being lost, so long as they were together. She walked a few steps at a quick pace to catch up with him, jamming iher hands in her coat pocket to resist the old muscle-memory instinct to reach out and take his hand when they were side by side like this. "Dagny? Yeah, I'm -- " she started to lie, then shook her head, saying, "No, not Dagny. I'm with, um..." More lies rolled around in her head, ones to make it seem like she wasn't just kind of pitiful and lonely and unsure what to do with all the time she'd used to spend with him. But what was the point in tossing out names like Napoleon and Nate and Toby and anyone else when it wasn't true? "Just me. I'm with just me," she admitted, asking with a barely concealed hint of curiosity, "What about you? Your cottagemates seem nice."
Fab took note of the way Kally smiled at him. It was...different. Not exactly something he was used to seeing from her (at least not pointed toward him), and he didn't want to make any judgments but it didn't seem genuine, either. Maybe she was nervous around him -- it made sense that she would be. Or maybe she'd changed. He knew he had. Fabi gave a nod at her words, popping a fistful of popcorn into his mouth to avoid saying something stupid. What that was, he wasn't sure, but he wasn't about to wait around til he found out. "The corn is man-made?" he asked instead, furrowing his brow as if serious even though he'd always had a suspicion that it was. He just felt like joking...maybe finally breaking this tension. Fab had never felt so claustrophobic around Kalasin...It was so odd. From their first day as friends, it was like instant comfort. And now? Instant discomfort, sweating, and nervous-poop feelings had taken the place of that. He started to be very thankful that he hadn't said he was with Dagny when it seemed like Kally was. But then she fumbled over her words a bit, before finally admitting to being alone. Like him. He knew that little fumble was her trying not to seem alone, like him. Shrugging nonchalantly, Fab answered. "I'm with 'just me', too." There was a sadness in his voice that he hadn't expected, despite the fact that he was trying to show solidarity with her -- there was no shame in being alone. "I would've come with Kale or something but he's got his friends. Other than that, I didn't have many options to go with and I really wanted to try the food."
Kally nodded her head vigorously, curls bobbing up and down as she realized that for a change, this was a topic she felt fairly at ease talking about with Fab -- one that wasn't filled with painful memories or awkward tension, just something she felt comfortable giving an opinion on, something neutral enough that the weight squeezing on her chest made it feel like she could actually breathe again. "Yeah! At least, I'm pretty sure -- I mean, there's one too many suspicious 'don't eat the corn!' signs around for it to be real. And it's not like they just ran around sprinkling seeds and grew it up overnight... if it were back home where Gani could like, magically grow it, maybe, but here I'm so sure there's got to be an element of fakeness to it." She liked that, though; Kalasin took comfort in all the hokey mortal things that people did to celebrate Halloween, just like she took comfort in the fact that she had just said a few whole sentences without overthinking or second guessing. Baby steps, right? Maybe someday they could even both hang out with Dagny at the same time again... but her stomach was straight back to being in knots, trying to imagine something that still felt so far off and hard to picture. Still, her smile seemed a little more genuine after that, and she nodded. "The food's all right... I just come because it makes my sister mad, how inauthentic it all is. And I wouldn't be a good little sister if I didn't deliberately do things to aggravate her every once in a while, right?" she joked, finding it was easier to talk when she was staring at the maze walls, peering for holes or... clues, peering at anything that wasn't Fab's stupid, cute, distractingly sad face. "If we ever get out of here, are there any foods I should make sure I try before I go home and marathon weird claymation movies while I finish making my costume?" Kally finally dared to glance back at him, although she ducked her head back to look at her feet again almost instantly; costumes were like another gaping wound, since it was the first time in years she'd had to make something without him there as her matching other half.
Fab laughed out loud when she pointed out the signs. He hadn't really noticed how blatant they were, nor had he put together the dots that that meant the corn was fake. "Well, I guess it's a good thing I'm not a thief who was planning to make creamed corn tonight! I would've been in for maybe the worst surprise, ever," he chuckled, feeling his tense body relax just the slightest bit. Joking felt nice -- Maybe not with the same comfort as before, but not mortifyingly awkward either. "How I wish I had a sibling around to annoy!" he exclaimed, calling out into the sky with hopes of somehow shaking the cornstalks with his volume like it would in a cartoon. But it was looking like not even a Bugs Bunny-style gag could get them out of there, now. "How is Gani, by the way?" he dared ask, hoping that the question didn't stir the awkwardness back up between them -- it felt rude, to have been pretty much part of the family for so long and not ask how her sister was doing. "I mean, aside from you going out of your way to annoy her," he smirked. Fabi cocked a brow at Kalasin's question, his heart doing some weird flip when he realized she'd asked him about food. She still valued his opinion on food. "Ahh...Nothing to die for, really." Ba dum tss. "Except maybe a candy apple. Nothing special about them, except they're kinda cute for your Instagram or whatever," he chuckled, feeling a heat rise in his cheeks when she mentioned her costume. "What are you gonna be?" he felt himself blurt before he could really think about whether or not he wanted to know the answer. Either way, it was going to be without him.
Kally shuddered at the idea of Fab just eating melted down plastic corn for dinner; it sounded like a surefire way for a person to end up in the hospital for like, toxic chemical ingestion, and even though it wouldn't have done any good inside of Walt, thinking about the chance to protect someone she loved -- or had loved, at least -- from that kind of unfortunate mishap was one of the rare times where she wished she was brave enough to conquer her fears and learn to use her magic to help people. "Good thing you've got something better on the menu, then," she replied meekly, blushing when he asked about Gani. It had always felt okay to rant about her sister when they'd been together, when she could trust him with anything that crossed her mind, but now she scrambled to try and put together the polite version, the kind that you told to a stranger on the street who didn't really care how you were doing, they just asked as a pleasantry. "She's good, she started working at Le Pub right when she turned 21 and I think she's having fun with it," Kally guessed, although she was pretty sure her sister spent more time upset she couldn't take her cat or brew things magically than she spent having fun. "And, um -- yeah, she's good," she concluded, feeling lame as she pulled her hands back out of her pocket to hang awkwardly by her sides instead. "Have they set up stations to decorate their own yet? I've been saying they should do that since like, freshman year of high school," Kally blurted out without thinking, although she always felt like she'd stuck her foot directly in her mouth when she mentioned happier times like that. "Oh, um -- I'm going to be a cereal killer," she explained, adding for clarification, "Like, wearing cereal boxes and stuff. Um, what are you going to be?" she asked to be polite, fear flitting through her when she realized she was dressing up completely on her own and he might have a squad or even a new girl to dress to match instead.
Fab gave a shrug, matching her meekness with his own. "I always do," he offered. Maybe he meant that he literally always had something better on his menu -- because he did, and creamed corn was actually pretty gross to him -- or maybe there was some weird subtext to it that even he didn't quite understand. Despite all they'd been through lately, Fab still wanted Kally to know that he was doing okay. Not that he was in any way better after their breakup, but he wasn't doing bad. He always found a way to be okay. Nodding, he couldn't help but chuckle at Kally's update on her sister. "Sounds like Gani -- conjuring up drinks behind the bar seems like a great way to get out her witchiness here." He finished his popcorn and crumbled the paper bag between his hands, not exactly sure where to toss it, so he just kept the trash in his hand, hanging at his side. "No! I think they just don't want anyone to show them up on their treat-making skills." Fab shook his head with disdain, but also a bit of amusement. Because he agreed -- DIY was always more fun, and he could decorate a candy apple better than anyone at this carnival. Raising his brows at Kalasin's answer, Fab couldn't help but let out a huge laugh at the hilarity of the pun. "That's so good! I think I'm gonna borrow a prop stroller from one of the drama clubs and put a bag of sugar in it -- Sugar Daddy," he shrugged with a smirk, a little proud of his own pun.
Kally nodded, chewing on the inside of her cheek as she wondered if she was reading too much into Fab's statement or not. Did that mean he was better off without her? Did that mean they were literally just talking about food? These were all the kinds of thoughts that drove her crazy if she started to let herself think about them too much. Instead, she tried to force the smile back onto her features, but she was sure it faltered as she said, "Here's to hoping that whatever happens to her, she isn't bartending on my 21st birthday, I'm sure she'd try to slip something into my drinks that would like... force me to go back home and resume magical training instead of staying in Walt." She made a face, both because of the thought of her sister's pressuring and because she wasn't sure if she'd started to veer into saying too much, and she wished that she could go back to the casual conversation -- it hadn't been that hard, had it? Maybe she just needed to stick to safer topics like food and the carnival and whatever else. Or even just on getting out of this maze; she'd help up fairly well by normal standards, but it was far from the best conversation she'd ever had with Fab in her life. Kally kind of assumed that no conversation they ever had again would be all that great, and the thought depressed her all over again as she stepped closer to the corn wall, trying to hear the sounds of the outside of the maze or something that would get them out of her sooner. He caught her off guard, though, and she was shocked to hear the sound of her own laughter, bursting out of her at his costume. "Oh my God, Sugar Daddy's fantastic, you're going to have so much fun with that," Kalasin told him, and just like that there was another flash of the normalcy that she craved so much. Without thinking, she blurted out, "I miss talking to you like this. About like, normal stuff, you know?" Maybe it wasn't quite true to say they'd been friends firstwhen they'd jumped into a relationship fairly quickly when they'd gotten to Walt, but Kally knew that they'd been friends too, like any good boyfriend and girlfriend should be -- and maybe they hadn't been great at the end, but they had been once upon a time. "Do you think we'll ever be just like -- not weird anymore?" she asked bluntly, figuring things had already been awkward enough, she couldn't make it that much worse.
Fab let out a laugh. He could imagine weirder situations than being bartended by your sibling on your birthday, but knowing Kally and Gani’s relationship, if she did decide to go to Le Pub, that birthday would be a memorable one to say the least. “Hey, no spell or potion like that would work here. You can hide from the magic all you want out here and no one can stop you.” He never understood why Kally was the way she was about her power — he always thought it was cool. But that was, of course, an opinion coming from a mere mortal. He didn’t know what witches went through, or what kind of pressure they were under, so he always supported her. Besides, the best parts of her had nothing to do with her powers. He was happy to hear her laugh when he shared his Halloween costume plans, her smile eliciting his, as well. He mirrored her amusement, a bit of heat rising in his cheeks as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Thanks, I try...” Fab offered, before Kalasin finally addressed the elephant in the room — er, the elephant in the corn maze. The heat in his cheeks burned harder, but he was still smiling nonetheless. He agreed with pretty much everything she had to say. “Gosh...” he sighed, shaking his head, “Same. Like, it’s weird that I don’t have anyone to laugh with like this.” He gestured between the two of them. Sure, he had friends like Dagny and Kale, but Kally had to know that what was between them was different, romantic or not. “I mean...I really hope so. I miss you,” he shrugged, downplaying his own honesty. “But I think we will.” He nodded. Now that they both were on the same page, they could certainly try to make things not-weird.
Kally pursed her lips together, trying to stop herself from saying more about Gani or about her magic or about all of the things that felt too personal to blurt out to her ex boyfriend in the middle of a corn maze. They were definitely a lot harder to deal with these days without him there as her support system, though; even when they weren't talking about what was on her mind, it had been reassuring to just know that he was on her side when she needed him, and that even if he didn't get it he cared about how she felt about things. "Probably a good thing, I might have like blasted this corn maze down and ruined the fun for everyone by now," she grumbled, although things were starting to look familiar again to her... Maybe? Who could really tell when they were just surrounded by green and yellow stalks and treading indistinguishable dirt trails. She kept walking forward anyway, though, because it was better than stopping and dragging out the awkwardness any longer. Kalasin wrung her hands together as she listened to Fab -- and even as he mimicked back words similar to her own, she waited for the other shoe to drop, for some kind of but or reason that they could never be even close to the same. She had to swallow the nervous lump in her throat to even speak again, tucking a stray strand of hair that had been blown by the wind behind her ear. "Laughing's good," she agreed, remembering when his laugh had been one of her favorite sounds in the whole world. "And I miss you, too, I just... get so lost in my own head, thinking I'll do something to make it worse or make it weird and then I don't do anything and..." Kalasin sighed deeply, saying, "Maybe if we ever get out of here we could just try to do something like... normal sometime. I don't know what, but I'm sure we could figure it out, right?" Her brain screamed at her that that was asking for too much too fast, though, and Kally's hand went right up to the cornstalks, tracing gently along the maze wall and quickly rambling, "I feel like there's starting to be more like air coming through? Maybe that means we're getting closer to the outside."
Fab noticed the change in Kally when he'd started talking about her magic. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything -- he knew it was a sore subject, but he just wanted to show her he was still supportive. She must have felt all of the pressure from the entire world wanting her to be more into her magic, but he never expected that of her, and never would. He was always on her side with that. "Okay, ruin the fun maybe, but at least it'd get us out of here," he chuckled, inspecting their surroundings for what felt like the millionth time. Every cornstalk was starting to blur together to him, he couldn't keep track of where they'd been, so he just followed her lead. He never expected to be reconnecting (he used the term loosely) with his ex in such circumstances, but maybe it was some kind of sign. Fab had felt incomplete or something without her companionship, romantic or not. Maybe this was the universe's way of letting them know they belonged in each other's lives regardless. Exes did that sometimes...right? "Me too, like, I'm always thinking 'is this okay to say?', 'is this crossing a line?', 'can exes act like this together?'" He spoke fast, though it overlapped with Kalasin's rambles as well, so Fab was almost certain that he didn't really hear what she'd said anyway until she swiftly changed the subject. ".....Normal! Normal sounds good. We could get Dagny and go grab ice cream at Elsa's or something," he shrugged. That was something they used to like to do, as one threesome instead of two twosomes. "I think Dag would appreciate it." He rolled his eyes a bit, acknowledging the fact that Dagny was kind of their 'child of divorce' in this breakup, and it was silly that they let it shake their friendship dynamic for so long. Knitting his brow, Fabi felt the breeze Kalasin was talking about and nodded his head eagerly. "Yeah! I think so, too," he smiled, walking faster with his hand along the wall of corn. "Eureka!" he grinned, finally seeing the way out in the short distance before them.
Kally let out an annoyed huff at the maze and the way it never seemed to end. "This is even worse than freshman year when we got lost for a little while and I had to go to the restroom, but everything was still like... new, and I didn't want to admit that's why I was in such a hurry," she laughed; she'd nearly forgotten about that until right now, and she hoped that it would be an amusing anecdote instead of a weird one. She was never sure anymore, though; she hated that she was never sure, so instead she kept talking a mile a minute, like if she didn't give him much time to react it would be as if she'd never said anything at all. "Note to junior and senior year me: it might be time to let the corn maze craze die and not go inside." Kalasin let out a breath of air she didn't even know she'd been holding in when he said out loud all the things she'd been thinking; it was almost as if he'd read her mind, or could see inside of her heart into exactly how she was feeling. But they didn't do that anymore, right? He was just feeling the same things as she was, and it already felt like she could breathe a little easier. Even if it still took some time to adjust, maybe some good would come out of this stupid maze after all. "Uh huh, you're just saying that because you think I won't steal your ice cream anymore, but that totally doesn't go away just because we're just friends now," she warned, and though the words stung a little bit still they didn't have the same bite to them that they'd had since February. "But I never say no to ice cream, and I'm sure Dagny would be relieved that we're not like... splitting custody anymore, I felt so bad," she admitted, her smile brightening at the sight of the maze exit. Although she was glad to be out, she was also kind of glad she'd been trapped long enough to finally say what had been on her mind for months now to Fab. Maybe things worked the way they did for a reason; life didn't need magic to work in mysterious ways. "Well, uh -- I should probably get home so that my cottagemates know I'm not dead, but we'll do that ice cream thing soon, right?" she asked hopefully as they crossed out of the maze and back into the open air of the festival.
Fab couldn’t help the laugh that burst through his chest when Kally reminded him of Freshman year. “Oh, God — That’s why you wanted to get out of there so bad?” He clapped his palm over his face as he laughed harder, now pairing that new knowledge with his own memory of the event. They were so new then. And by the time the most recent Valentine’s Ball had rolled around, they had felt bored with each other and their new lives...But it seemed like he was still learning new things about her, even now. He waved off her statement, still a wry smile on his face. “Nah...If you stopped going in these things you wouldn’t have these kinds of adventures anymore,” he teased. Wrinkling his nose at mention of Dagny, Fab nodded in agreement. “Yeah, it’s so not fair to her. What were we thinking?” He sighed, realizing now that the last few months he’d been so consumed in his own feelings, he hadn’t considered his friends’. As they neared the exit, Fab sped up his walking a bit to reach the fresh air as soon as possible, and inhaled a breath that he was sure he needed after the incredibly awkward few minutes they’d had in there. “Yeah! I’ll text you or something,” He starter to back away from her, hugging his arms in defense against the slight breeze that he felt. The chill in the air said it wasn’t really ice cream weather, but he would be damned not to accept this little slice of normalcy.
Kally felt like a gigantic weight had been lifted off her shoulders, being able to see Fab laugh like that again around her. Maybe in the grand scheme of the hundred or more years she'd live it wouldn't be a big deal, but right now someone being a huge part of her life for the last five years meant a lot to her, and she wasn't ready to give him up yet. She nodded her head to his question, laughing along with him, glad that for the first time she really did see a sliver of hope that they'd be able to stay friends after all. "Ugh, you're right, I'm sure I'll be back next year -- who knows, maybe next time we'll bring Dagny and she'll make sure we never get lost in the first place, I trust her sense of direction more than mine." She didn't really have an answer to what they'd been thinking, putting Dagny in the middle like that; Kalasin still didn't have a lot of answers for things, but right now she felt like she didn't need them. "Well... see ya," she offered him a genuine smile this time, resisting the old temptation to hug him goodbye as she waved instead, feeling lighter than she had in months as she walked back in the direction of her cottage.

The BIG 4-0, Kansas City, MO, 1/18/19 - 1/20/19
Let me hit you with 40 un-interesting facts about my 40 years on earth!
I’ve woken up and gone to bed 14,600 days in my life.
I’ve put shoes on at least 50,000 times.
I’ve traveled to 31 of our 50 states.
I can’t drink more than 3 beers without waking up to a terrible headache.
I’ve purchased 1 mattress in my lifetime.  For as much time as you spend on them, good ones are worth every penny.
I have a pile problem.  I have piles of laundry on my floor.  I have a pile of mail 4 months old.  I have a pile of paperwork on my desk that stresses me out to look at.  I have a pile of junk in the glove box in my car.  I have a pile of fishing tackle that I swear will one day be organized in tackle boxes.
I have owned eight cars in my lifetime: 1987 Pontiac Grand AM, 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, 2011 Ford Explorer Sport, 2005 Ford Explorer Limited, 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 2011 Ford Explorer Limited, 2012 Jeep Wrangler and 2017 GMC Sierra.
I have called nine different cities home: Kansas City, MO; Raytown, MO; Waseca, MN; Duluth, MN; Bismarck, ND; Bloomington, MN; Eagan, MN; Rosemount, MN and Apple Valley, MN
I’ve broken five bones in my life: both arms, nose, foot, ankle…
…and only the ankle hurt on a similar level to my torn ACL/MCL.
My first day working at Blue Cross Blue Shield was September, 11, 2001.  What a memorable day that was.
My starting salary was $31,000.  I turned down a competing offer to work at a Plymouth small B2B business that essentially lined up     maintenance companies (heating, plumbing, electrical) with businesses that needed urgent maintenance at their facilities.  That job paid $40,000/year.  I would have accepted it on the sole basis of salary, but Mom and Dad recommended I take the job at the stable company, BCBS instead.  Which was a great recommendation.  The other company went out of business 6 months after offering me the job.  Thanks Mom and Dad!
I’ve spent nearly 50% of my life (18 years) working at BCBS.  In those 18 years…
…I’ve had  19 bosses at BCBS: Marv, Karla, Rob, Cheryl, Phil, Kevin, Gary, Mary, Terri, Shawn, Deb, Patrick, Rajat, Jim, Zachery, Maggie, Karen, Janet & Jay
I used to manage a team.  I used to want my boss’ job, and the job of my boss’ boss.  No more.  I love being an individual contributor. I love the flexibility to be a Dad whenever I want or need to be a Dad and not be     tied to the office.
I’ve enjoyed video games since Dad got us an Intelevision with Dungeons & Dragons, Baseball and Racing.  As video games have advanced in technology, I’ve played some pretty awesome games.  My favorites over the years were Super Mario Brothers 2 (which Dad apparently waited in a long line for at KB Toys), Starcraft, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Black Ops 4 (Blackout).
My back, knees and feet hurt all the time.
I always order the same thing off of a restaurant menu, never changing up the order.
Unless I am going to the lake, I have the hardest time getting out of bed in the morning.
My favorite cereals now are the same cereals that were my favorite as a kid – Corn Pops, Apple Jacks, Sugar Golden Crisp.
I prefer to have Diet Pepsi over any other beverage, even if it’s warm cookies or breakfast food.
Due to #18 & 19, I’ve put on an unwanted 20lbs in the past 5 years.
I have been planning the 12 Bars of Christmas for 35% of my adult life.
I love the smell and look of a freshly mowed yard.
I watch the stock market daily, and usually make poor investment choices that are based on my gut feeling (e.g. I saw a huge line at Home Depot this weekend, so I better buy some HD stock!)
I enjoy vacations so much more now then I did 20 years ago.
It took 17 years, but I am finally student loan debt free as of 2018!
In 2011, I ran a half marathon in 2 hours and 1 minute.  The day after making that run, I found out I had caused a stress fracture in my right foot.
Dyan and I posed in this picture together 6 months before we ever met.
On our first date in November, we went to Carbone’s in Rosemount.  We both ducked out of work a couple of     hours early (nobody would notice, right?).     We sat at the bar, each sipping on a drink.  She only had one drink before switching to water.  In my head I was thinking, this must not be going well if she is done after one beverage.  We continued conversing but I couldn’t focus on any of the conversation because I was being     blinded by the sunset as it’s shine was perfectly aligned with me through the front door.  I am sure my ugly squinting was a very attractive first impression.  I left the bar less than 2 hours later thinking I’d never hear from her again….
A few weeks later, she came to 12BoC with me.  The rest is history.  I’ve have checked off some bucket list fishing destinations such as Caddo Lake in Texas/Louisiana, Lake Fork in Texas, and the Atlantic Ocean in the Florida Keys..
...and the biggest bass I have caught to date came from a a small lake (Lake Marion) just 5 miles from my house.  This largemouth was a whopping 5.25lbs.
I’ve been on the losing end of fishing tournaments WAY more than the winning end.  The only tournament I’ve ever won was the Twin City Fishing tournament on Shields Lake in 2013.  It was my very first tournament. Aaron and I weighed a giant, 21lb, sack of fish that only won by mere ounces.  This might be my most favorite fishing story to tell.
If I could be in a different profession, my #1 would be a lawyer.  I think I also would have made a good weatherman, pilot or engineer.
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and crave a Diet Pepsi.  I will literally chug the entire can of pop at 3AM.  Oh, the burn is so good!
My favorite guilty pleasure is playing video games with Josh.
My ideal retirement would be Arizona for Jan-Mar, and a cabin on a MN lake from Apr-Dec.
What does all this mean?
I AM GETTING OLD!
I complain to Dyan about 40 times per year about how much I miss seeing family and how little I get to spend with them.  So for my 40th, Dyan planned a trip to KC to spend the weekend celebrating with my family!
Traveling from Minnesota to Missouri in January. What could go wrong?
Only a big ol’ snowstorm.
Tumblr media
Great.  We decided we’d get on the road early.  Like 4AM-early.  Based on the forecast, if we hit the road by 4, we should be just on the leading edge of the snow before it hits southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.  So, here was the radar when we left Apple Valley vs. the radar when we hit Mason City.
Tumblr media
We beat the storm!
We arrived in Kansas City early, around 11AM and spent some time bumming around at Bass Pro Shops so the kids could stretch their legs a bit.  Daddy had to get a couple Alabama Rigs for the April tournament in the Ozarks.  We then made a quick stop for lunch at Carrabba’s Italian Grill where mom and dad joined up with us.
After lunch, it was back to Bass Pro for some target shooting.  Grandpa challenged the kids to some shooting with the laser rifles, which was a hoot.  Next, we decided to see if we could check-in to our Airbnb.  We had never rented a house through Airbnb, but Dyan suggested we book a house on this trip so that my parents and us could all stay in the same place.  The Kansas City area had some unique rental homes, but we fell in love with pictures of The Fillmore Manor on the grounds of Unity Village.  Neither of us had ever stayed in a house that had an official name!
Tumblr media
From the moment we spotted this beautiful English Cotswold style home nestled among the gentle hills of Unity Village, we knew we had made the right decision. What a gorgeous setting for a beautiful home.
The kids made quick work of staking claims on beds and exploring the winding passages through the house.  Josh and Melanie met up with us that evening and we all went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, where yes, I got to ride in the birthday saddle while the restaurant sang Happy Birthday to me!  Later that evening, we began assembling a very challenging 500-piece holographic puzzle.
Tumblr media
On Saturday morning, we had breakfast at Unity Village (which was unexpectedly good) before heading back to the house for some more puzzle time.  And we finished!
Tumblr media
We lounged around most of the morning while the kids overloaded on Melanie’s birthday cupcakes and Mom’s World Famous ALL-CRISPIX Chex Mix and Scotch-a-Roo’s. Then we split up.  The boys went to play Call of Duty at Josh’s house, while the girls went to the Trampoline Park.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently, the trampoline park was a stitch!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And tuckered everybody out!
Tumblr media
Around 1PM, we all met for lunch at Jack Stack BBQ, which was AHHHH-mazing.
Tumblr media
We then returned home for some Scabble and an unsuspectingly fun game called, Farkle.
Tumblr media
With as much Farkle as we played over the weekend, we’ve decided we need to own this game at home!
Tumblr media
We spent a few hours that evening at the arcade having some drinks while playing laser tag, air hockey and video games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We all had so much fun!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, the following morning we all had to say goodbye, and hit the highway for our homes.

500 Follower Ask Celebration :)
welp, here we are with 500 beautiful lovelies reading our fics. when we first started this blog, we never imagined such a wonderful response. everyone is the nicest & we both can’t express how grateful we are for every one of you.
thank you so much for sticking by us, even during our rough times. your support means the world to the both of us, & you all keep us going more than you think. you all inspire us every single day, & never fail to make us laugh.
you, yes all of you, are the best followers in the whole damn universe. you’re all irreplaceable & extremely dear to us. we love you guys so much. words can’t begin to describe how we feel.
and so, since we literally can’t come up with anything else to do on this momentous occasion, our original plan for 500 was to reblog a long ass ask list for you guys to send in numbers, but since that would all be complicated on the matter of the two of us answering, we decided to just answer all these 45 questions.
you’ll find the questions and our answers under the cut! enjoy!
um she’s really lovely and sympathetic and true and magnificent and her name is summer and the most annoying thing about her is that she’s not annoying at all. -v
pretty much the fact that vic is better than me at  e v e r y t h i n g . she’s so much more caring and generous and beautiful and she’s always there for me whenever i’m having a bad day or if i’m just lonely or whenever i need someone to talk to. she’s also super polite and hilarious as hell. -s
2 • least favorite tv shows?
oops sorry if i offend some people but i really don’t like vampire diaries, thirteen reasons why, gossip girl, or the uk version of the office. -v
i don’t, like,,,,, watch tv much so all honesty, i can’t really have an answer for this? sorry?? -s
3 • favorite moment with your best friend ( s ) ?
oh omg i was texting summer a few weeks ago discussing and finalizing which fic requests we were each going to be taking and we had that one request asking for a connor imagine in which him and the reader take zoe to get her wisdom teeth out so i said something around the lines of “i can take connor and the wisdom teeth” and i literally froze before following that up with “omg that could be a name for a band”. summer freaks out and we’re both laughing hysterically over text and we stop everything and just spit out crappy band names that include connor and various body parts like “connor and the tonsils” and “connor and the funny bone” and even “connor and the fractured pelvis” and we’re absolutely dying because we can’t stop cackling at this stupid thing i brought up which made me laugh out loud a hundred times and i ended up scaring my own grandmother when she saw me giggling crazily with my phone. she ended up cutting me a slice of pie because she thought there was actually something wrong and the pie might help me calm down. so if the person who requested “connor and the wisdom teeth” is reading this right now i just wanna say thank you for requesting and your idea is amazing and your fic will forever be iconic ily. -v
oh my god, i was literally going to say the exact same thing vic did, but i guess i can choose a different memory.  one time vic posted a pic of a turtle on her sc story and i was like “girl omg” and she remembered that time she played the character Turtle in her school’s production of The Westing Game play and then we started reminiscing on our old nerdy memories like when a projected video didn’t work for her and she had to just say all the audio backstage, or the time after my school’s cheap ass production of the Wizard of Oz during curtain call i tried to quickly change from my farmhand costume to my tin man costume and i forgot to put my shoes on and i slipped and fell on my ass during curtain call (i also forgot to bow but unimPORTANT) and it was just so sweet and cute but honestly every moment with vic is the bEST. -s
4 • what’s one quality you would like to have?
hm i’ve always wanted lighter eyes, mine are this boring brown color. whenever i’m in sunlight, they become shot through with these bits of gold and amber and it’s super pretty and that’s the only time they really lighten up. it would be really nice if they were like that all the time. -v
my big nose and thin hair have been the #1 qualities i’m most self conscious of, so i would really like to either have a smaller nose, or thicker hair. my face is already super oily as is, but my nose is the worst part, and i’ve always hated how my nostrils are almost as big has my eyes. as for the thin hair, you always have to be cautious about what you do with it, because there’s so little of it. like, i’m hella prone to sweating, which sucks, so if i sweat too much, my hair can easily build up enough grease to look like i just got out of the shower in a matter of minutes. or if i sleep on it the “wrong way”, and portions of are crinkled awkwardly or sticking out, then that’s how it’s going to look the entire day. and i can’t do any cute hairstyles with it because it all will fall out. -s
5 • name three people of the same sex you would kiss, marry, or fuck.
kiss rachelle ann go, marry pippa soo, and fuck laura dreyfuss oops. -v
kiss pippa soo, marry eva noblezada, and as for the other one,,,, i’ll get back to you on that.. -s
6 • do you like your full name?
hell no it sounds so boring and standard. -v
hahahahahah, no way. -s
7 • tell me your most embarrassing memory.
erhm so many? how do i choose? i’ve tripped in front of crushes hundreds of times, i spelled a word wrong in a spelling bee that i really did know how to spell but my anxiety acted up and i panicked so badly, i ran into a sliding glass door literally yesterday, when i was little i sang in a public bathroom and everyone heard, i also fell out of a tree? does that make me evan hansen? -v
oh n o. there’s too much there, i swear. um, i got so nervous when someone asked me what my name was, i told them i was “helen”, but i think that was because i accidentally said “hell” too loud and tried to cover it up. i’ve tripped so many times on a flat ground. once i was crying in a public bathroom and a kid started banging on the door and told his mom that no one was in there, so before they got the staff to open the door, i panicked and hid my face in my sleeve as i ran out of there. omg there was also one time, a long ass time ago, someone asked me who my favorite member of one direction was and i didn’t know who they were because in my house we don’t listen to (at the time) contemporary music. not to mention anything in english?? but anyways, i’d heard of them but nothing about them, so me, trying desperately to fit in said “i like all four of them”. and they told me “there’s five”. there was also a time i was invited to this girl’s retreat thing in her youth group when we took a field trip to this pumpkin patch and they had this corn maze and we tried to go through it, but i got lost and nobody was around me and for some reason i thought everyone just left so i was terrified and crying and just started running straight through the corn. but then one of the other kids saw me and called me out to everyone and i was too embarrassed and anxious to say “i got lost”. there’s probably so many more memories and probably worse ones too, but in short, my life is a huge embarrassment. -s
8 • favorite color to wear?
pastel baby blue is my number one. i have this off shoulder blouse that’s this pretty sky blue color and white and i think it’s my favorite item of clothing. -v
i can’t make a lot of colors look good on me so usually i turn to black, gray, or any dark shade. -s
9 • favorite restaurant?
there’s a vietnamese place called “saigon diamond” in my city and it’s absolutely wonderful and i would go there every single day if i could. -v
i love this little place, it’s called “cafe vie” where they have boba tea, spring rolls, phở, all sorts of vietnamese food and it’s just so quaint and the food is the best there, honestly. i’m so hungry now. -s
10 • what would be a good first date for you?
take me to a broadway show and then dinner and i will be the happiest girl in the world. -v
vic pretty much took it away at “broadway show” for me. and dinner is hella important, food is so good. i don’t have high standards, but if you really want to make an impression on me, then i’m literally the biggest sucker for romantic gestures. -s
11 • are you a good wrestler?
thumb, yes. arm, no. full body contact, idk about that but i do know karate so i will fight you. -v
lmao, no. -s
12 • are you allergic to something?
up until the time i was five or something i was allergic to grass and i had to wear pants whenever i went outside and it was honestly horrible because i couldn’t play tag or run around like other kids my age. -v
i honestly don’t know but most bug bites i get can get hella blisters and really gross even if i don’t touch them. -s
13 • would you be a good singer?
i’ve been singing pretty much my entire life but it was only this year that i started gaining confidence with my voice so i guess i consider myself a good singer? i’m not completely there yet, though. -v
i really hope so. i’ve been a big choir nerd since i was 7 or 8 and i’m really passionate about singing, but that really has nothing to do with skill, i guess? i don’t really like the sound of my voice, but i’m pretty decent at harmonizing. -s
14 • who’s the last person you said “ i love you ” to?
summer aka the shining light in this dark world. -v
victoire aka the actual light of my life?? love you, vic -s
15 • what car would you buy if you had enough money?
um a porsche obviously because that shit is prime. -v
literally any car that doesn’t break down. as long as it can transport me from point a to point b without any troubles, then i am set. -s
16 • favorite cover of a song?
currently it’s that cover of ben platt singing “ stay ” that’s floating around tumblr rn and i think i had an eargasm when i listened to it the first time i was so shook. -v
i can’t pickk a favv omg. everyone is so frickin talented it makes me actually want to curl up and yell. -s
17 • what was your last conversation about?
coincidentally it was summer telling me we hit 500 and me proceeding to flip out. -v
hah, i don’t remember who it was with but i went around telling a couple people that my dad took my phone and i can only contact them from my crappy chromebook. -s
18 • where were you born?
good ol’ michigan in the usa where i still live today. come visit us because we have chocolate fudge, cereal, and eminem if you like that kind of shit. we also have lots of lakes and pretty places and we’re so cool we’re shaped like a fucking mitten. -v
kansas, where i also still live today. maybe i don’t get out much, but it’s kinda boring here,, -s
19 • least favorite app?
there’s this app on my uncle’s phone called “ chicken scream ” where this chicken has to jump onto platforms but to do that you have to scream and the octave of your voice determines how high the chicken jumps. seriously fucked up and i hate it but it’s hilarious watching people play it. -v
anything that can’t entertain me for more than two minutes. i have such a short attention span -s
20 • tell me two facts about the country of your birth.
um we have the largest air force in the world and we sell enough pizza every day to cover one hundred whole acres and no i am not lying i read this in a book ok bye. -v
uhhh… its abbreviation, “USA” stands for the United States of America, and it’s made up of 50 states. -s
21 • do you like wearing sunglasses?
actually i hate wearing sunglasses because they get tangled in my hair but if a pair looks good with my outfit then i will wear them for the sake of fashion. -v
i don’t wear sunglasses really at all, so i guess i can’t really have an opinion on them? -s
22 • when’s a good moment for a first kiss?
goodbye kisses are the best, do not tell me otherwise. walk me home and then kiss me goodbye at the door and i will be thinking about you all the damn time and i’ll can’t wait to see you. -v
i think for a first kiss it should be a very important thing, so whoever you have it with should be really close to you, and someone you know that even if things don’t work out, you can always look back on it as a positive memory. but what would i know? -s
23 • what are your nationalities?
i was born in america to immigrant parents who came from the philippines. along with the filipino blood, my great grandmother on my dad’s side was chinese, and my great grandparents on my mom’s side were spanish. -v
i was also born in america to immigrant parents, but they were from vietnam. my great grandparents on my mom’s side were chinese. -s
24 • what would make you drop college / university?
ha are you kidding me if i ever dropped out of any sort of education my strict asian parents would probably disown me and mushu the dragon would appear out of nowhere and give me that whole “ dishonor ” speech. -v
^damn vic, i couldn’t have said it any better. -s
25 • a crossover between two shows ( any shows ) you would like to see?
idk about any of you but a crossover between riverdale and doctor who sounds hella awesome. i’d definitely watch that. -v
frick;; i don’t watCH TV at like,,, all?? -s
26 • long or short hair?
on me? honestly i prefer to have long hair but i’ll go shoulder length if i’m really feeling brave or something. when i was little i had super short hair with bangs so i was basically an asian dora the explorer. -v
short hair, for sure. i used to have hair down to my waist when i was younger and that was probably the grossest thing about me because it was so disproportionate to my head/face and made me look like if E.T. had two long strands of black yarn on its head. but even before that ofc i had a bowl cut. what asian kid doesn’t have a bowl cut, honetsly. although, over the summer i don’t cut my hair so i can dye the ends, then have it cut when school starts. the farthest it goes down is barely past my shoulders. -s
27 • a character from a book / tv show that shouldn’t of died?
max lightwood from the mortal instruments book series was the purest bean, and he wasn’t even ten years old yet and that definitely broke my heart. as for tv characters, i sobbed for days on end when arthur from the bbc show merlin died. -v
um,,, crap idk. -s
28 • favorite movie scene?
pitch perfect two where ben platt’s character benji musters up the courage to kiss emily before the bellas go on. idk why but it’s so cute? maybe it’s just ben? -v
sidenote: vic, i love that scene. anyways, maybe that final scene in heathers where martha gets her one line. idk. -s
29 • do you ship more fictitional characters or real people?
fictional characters of course. who would i be without my otps? -v
definitely fictional characters. -s
30 • favorite country song?
i seriously despise country music. i just don’t like it. it’s bleh. i don’t really know half the artists or their songs so i can’t have a favorite. -v
frickin “your man” by josh turner. i’m seriously kidding. i don’t listen to country music efiouhadjhdsilvb -s
31 • favorite john green book?
it’s tied between “ paper towns “and ” looking for alaska “ because both are equally cryptic and beautiful at the same time and i love when books are like that. -v
heck, i really like “looking for alaska” -s
32 • least favorite ed sheeran song?
oh come on. i love ed. you can’t expect me to pick a least favorite. but when it comes to the song i skip over most of the time it has to be ” even my dad does sometimes “ from multiply ( x ). -v
uhhhhmmmm… hell if i know -s
33 • favorite ship?
malec from shadowhunters will always be my otp until the day i die. the ship is so diverse and has so much chemistry and if you read the books magnus and alec are so in love i can’t handle. -v
i don’t frickin knowwww. i’m honestly feeling so attacked right now. i’m so sorry if all of my answers are like this, i’m literally the most indecisive person in the actual world. -s
34 • how do you deal with sexual tension?
uM -v
uM -s
35 • name a celebrity who died that you miss.
our queen carrie fisher. i grew up with star wars always on my tv and when i heard of her passing i cried and rewatched ” the force awakens “ with blankets and two boxes of tissues. -v
there’s really too many to choose from, and thinking about all of the happy memories they’ve brought to me and everyone is just getting me so emotional. -s
36 • favorite harry potter spell?
i’m really fucking basic but ” lumos “ is the best. it’s so simple. it’s light. and idk why that resonates with me but i just think everyone needs a little light these days. -v
i literally said “lumos” too, but now i’m going to choose “riddikulus” because turning boggarts into something funny proves that anyone can find humor in their biggest fear. -s
37 • something you are scared of losing?
my family. there’s no way in hell i’d make it through life without my little brother or my grandparents who are there for me. -v
i’m terrified of losing the few friends i have. everyone i used to know didn’t have a single hesitation in forgetting me or even trying to lose contact with me. -s
38 • someone you regret meeting?
i could make you a list and tell you what each one did to make me regret even looking at them but i don’t wanna go out on a full on bitch rant about these people who ended up wasting my time. but i’ll just say i’ve met my share of shitty human beings. -v
too many. there have been too many people who’ve hurt me or betrayed me or have honestly made me feel like a horrible person, and i really wish i could forget every last one of them. little tip: it doesn’t matter how long you’ve known a person, it doesn’t excuse any sort of bullshit or betrayal they’ve done. -s
39 • have you ever been hurt by someone you thought was your friend?
yes and it’s caused a lot of emotional and mental issues. i’ve been backstabbed and used so many times and i just wish i could stop being stupid and blind for not seeing it in the first place. -v
god, yes. i wish it didn’t take me this long and this much damage to realize i shouldn’t have been throwing around my trust or my yearning to be accepted so lightly. getting hurt by the people you thought cared about you most is the most awful feeling, especially knowing that every single act of kindness and sympathy and love to them meant nothing. -s
40 • do you easily open up to people?
yes and no, actually. it ultimately depends on the person and whether i have a connection with them. -v
it’s really hard to open up to people in real life because i don’t know if they’re confidently lying to my face or will use my own words against me to people who also know me irl. but online it’s easy to open up to my friends there because i can find people who understand shit i go through and actually take the time to give a crap. -s
41 • what is a gift you love receiving?
hugs. i love hugs. gimme all the hugs you got, boo. -v
damn, v knows exactly what i’m going to say. i love hugs so frickin much, but honestly any sort of affection is all i need, like, smooches? yes?? compliments? absoLUTELY?? cuddles??? MARRY ME?!?! -s
42 • what is something you could leave easily?
erhm maybe my notebooks? i usually journal in them but not that often anymore. -v
probably hair clips. i really can’t do anything with them, and on me they’re really tacky. -s
43 • rant about what’s eating you up.
i’d really rather skip this one if anyone doesn’t mind, i’m sure i’d go on for a hundred paragraphs about my stressful life plus i’m sure it would annoy you. and my problems are the kind of personal ones i’m not comfortable putting out in public yet. -v
i really agree with vic here, i don’t want to be a huge bother to y’all and it’s really a touchy and personal subject here. -s
44 • if you could make a phone call to anyone right now, who would it be and what would you say?
i’d call ben platt, tell him how much i love him and how much i love the show and whole cast, all while screaming and shaking. -v
i was going to freaking say ben platt too, seriously. i wish i could thank him for how much his representation of evan and the build up of his character has made me find something to relate to and learn to appreciate myself more, even in the slightest. i’d also love to tell him that he shouldn’t have to feel apologetic for doing the things he does to take care of himself physically and mentally, and his fans should be more than supportive of him taking care of his well-being. i’d also ask him to tell the rest of the cast, creative, and standbys how much i seriously appreciate them, but honestly i’d be speechless if i knew he was on the other end of the line. -s
45 • are you easy to love?
aw yes. people say i’m lovable. i’m been compared to a teddy bear before. it’s happened, trust me. -v
i should hope so, but not very many people like to stick around me. i mean, i try to be someone worth loving and i’m more than happy to spill out all of my love to anyone who just asks politely <3. -s
