about hua cheng re: that conversation w xie lian about his “true appearance”, and why hua cheng freaks out when xie lian’s asks to see his real appearance — like san lang is basically his normie appearance. whereas he usually prefers to be full makeup platform heels acrylic nails. but when xie lian asks the question, he wonders if xie lian would consider his “true form” as his ugly self. (after all, that’s what most people mean when they ask for someone’s true form — they mean their original human appearance). but the way xie lian phrased it makes it clear that it’s about being open and comfortable with each other, not about some demand for truth. which reassures hua cheng not only that xie lian will like him no matter his true appearance, but that he would accept hua cheng’s chosen appearance as his “true self” because it’s how he truly sees and portrays himself, rather than his original appearance. xie lian’s words assure him that it’s not the Honesty or the Original appearance that matters, just that he’s aware that san lang is a facade for his benefit and he’d rather see hua cheng the way he prefers to appear.

Fun fact: a lot of the story ideas I have came from the world I designed for an Apocalypse World game, and at the time I was reading @attollogame and loved Sysba and wound up making a character with a similar premise of being a god banished to live in a human body. That character took on a life of their own and became like everybody's favourite NPC. But they were really specific to that game's story at that point and were very fultifaceted, so when I started writing Signal Hill (which has a totally different plot) I decided to split their role in the story into two different characters, Yvette and Aldrich.
In other words, if you trace it far enough back, 1/3 of my main cast is just Sysba from Attollo

i know i put angels and demons into a lot of my work but i will be real with you this has absolutely nothing to do with the religious trauma. angels were never a religious thing to me they were just guys with wings. people try to point at my angels and demons like "look see you are putting religious trauma in there" and i'm flattered you think so but i don't think you know a thing about me and my trauma. i put demons into my stories because the word "monsters" is usually used for a separate thing and i need a word that tells you right away this is some kind of creature that is by nature a bastard whether they want to be or not. cause monster is not a strong enough word for me. so they're demons

My brain’s been thinking of like, a Cookie Run/Undertale au, just for fun, I don’t actually plan on making anything of it
Mainly my first thought was that Dark Cacao could stand in for Asgore. And Pure Vanilla might make a good stand in for Toriel. And I suppose Dark Choco could work as Asriel
I think a good stand in for Alphys would be White Lily, given they both are involved with experiments dealing with making their kind stronger
For Undyne, I’m not sure whether it should be Hollyberry or Golden Cheese. I suppose Hollyberry would be the more fitting choice, but also I’m not sure what to do for Golden Cheese. Plus she ha a spear like Undyne
Unless of course, Undyne is instead replaced by both Hollyberry and Golden Cheese, and the Alphys/Undyne scenario is just them trying to add White Lily to create a polycule
Oh wait I suppose Mettaton could work for Golden Cheese. And like, Mettaton’s square form is Golden Cheese as a talking cheesebird while his EX form is her normal look
I dunno, just something random I thought would be neat

im not sure if this is correct at all but ive been thinking
arachne created demon weapons 800+ years ago, meaning she also was responsible for creating ragnarok. but medusa melted him into a vat of black blood in his weapon form during the 800 years of her sister's absence and barely survived
and then that black blood was placed inside crona, swapping out their regular blood and giving them the weapon partner ragnarok. but since he existed possibly prior to and definitely during arachne's disappearance and got melted into black blood during the 800 years, wouldn't that make him the oldest weapon partner to any meister, in comparison to say soul or tsubaki, who were born way later and only discovered their weapon abilities during childhood?

Alright folks, I think the time has finally come to officially introduce the main characters of Oasis to Oakwood, starting with Hailey here :P
Heads up: pretty much all the main characters are going to be retooled versions of my AU characters, with Hailey herself here being based off my AU version of Hat Kid. Though as you can tell, there are definitely differences, heh. I think her story is more or less self-explanatory :P Also, I'm going to be doing these character intros in the form of entries in her journal, hence the reason I did these drawings the way I did.
Strap yourselves in folks, Oasis to Oakwood has just begun!
Text for those who can’t read it:
‘So I’m a cryptid now?! I have no idea what happened--one night I’m just Hailey King, average kid, then suddenly BOOM! Moth Girl! You can imagine how thrilled my family was...
Lucky for me, I was able to make some friends (?), so hopefully I can figure out what happened to me, and go back to normal. Maybe that ‘Oakwood’ place will have my answers...if it’s even REAL.’

Sad take on Zion being rescued from her fate by Yue and being given a true chance at humanity as inspired by The Last Unicorn when Schmendrick turns her human and Yue and Azula and Zuko and the crew are happy but Iroh is like 'what have you done?! She'll go mad!' And Zion wakes up and she's... still there on earth. And the first words out of her mouth are 'what have you done to me?'
