btw I did very much tell you all that I was going to get back to being annoying now that season 4 is in the foreseeable future... so I wanted to rant a bit about how people in the Shadows fandom are inevitably going to start throwing the word “queerbaiting” around and I just want to say, jesus christ please do NOT... I’m so excited that they’re going to make Guillermo canonically queer and I don’t care with whom, I’ve been thrilled to see Guillermo’s personal life outside the vampire house for ages (the episode with his family???!!???), I’ve wanted him to have romantic interests outside the house forever, and I’m genuinely sincerely excited to see him as a canonically queer character. and Harvey Guillen has been absolutely lovely about the whole thing so if I see ONE GODDAMN PERSON try to give him shit about shipping-related things... don’t be an asshole, and on a more selfish note, please don’t give everyone on earth more reasons to talk about how cringe fandom shippers are all insane sex-crazed stalkers or whatever
however if we as a fandom ARE going to toss the word “queerbaiting” around, can we talk about Nadja, because it’s high time that one of her rotating cast of side pieces was a woman. I absolutely will become an insane sex-crazed stalker about that, I take back what I said five seconds ago

season 3 tidbits from rafe at the nycc panel (nothing surprising, but interesting to hear nonetheless)
he said again that season 3 really focuses in on TSR and that it was nice to be able to focus on a single book this season, especially since TSR is one of the best books in the series (my personal opinion is that this still doesn't mean we absolutely won't see ANY elements from other books, though, but who knows!)
rhuidean confirmed as a location we will see during the season
there is a forsaken who has been cast and filmed stuff for s3 whom we haven't seen yet in the first 2 seasons (i'm guessing he means asmodean; but there could be more than one brand-new forsaken in s3 for all we know, he didn't specify that there's ONLY one new one)
s3 dives deeper into tel'aran'rhiod and dreamwalking (he specifically mentioned learning about dreamwalking with the aiel)
we'll know very early in season 3 what liandrin has been up to recently
and a fun season 2 behind the scenes fact, he said that donal had been filming a different project in morocco when he got cast in WOT (i'm assuming SAS rogue heroes is what he was filming - great show if you haven't seen it!) and that when they were filming the heroes of the horn scene in the finale, donal seemed emotional so rafe asked him if he was okay, and donal said that that wall was THE VERY PLACE HE WAS STANDING ON when he got the call that he'd been cast as mat!!!! i'm sobbing!!!!

"The one who reduced me to what I am now is you"
So @impish-ivy asked me to look at the English and Japanese versions of Solomon's and Nightbringer's conversation in 10-A, and there are two things in particular that I'd like to highlight a little (if you want to compare the two versions yourself, I've included the Japanese version, my translation of it and the English version of their entire conversation below the cut)
The first one is about this:
Tumblr media
The Japanese version actually more closely translates to "The one who reduced me to what I am now is you" (aka the title). It's a small difference, but it adds a lot more malice to Solomon's words + it also slightly reframes that agreement of theirs that Solomon was talking about to imo
I still wish NB would focus more on its namesake so we could figure out what the relationship between Sol and NB is and what exactly happened between them but oh well.. We still have 6 lessons to go for this season, so maybe we'll get lucky and they at least drop a few hints for us
Anyway as for the second one:
Tumblr media
"If you had chosen this, it would have been easy". The "this" is what I want to focus on real quick
Given that right before their conversation, Solomon was asked to choose between demons and angels (tho he ultimalety ended up chosing humanity), so it would make sense to assume that that's what Nightbringer is referring to. But since the meaning of "this" was never specified, it could also mean that the actual purpose of the test might have been to see if Solomon would be willing to abandon humanity instead
Considering that Solomon has now repeadetely asked MC to side with humanity, and how there's also been some emphasize on how demons and angels do not see humans as equals, it's definitely possible, at least
Anyway, translations below the cut for anyone that wants to read through them!
This is how I've structured it:
[speaker]
日本語バージョン (Japanese version) [my translation (I tried to stick as close to the original meaning as possible)] English version
???
......困った人だ [...you're a difficult person] ...You always have to be difficult.
???
いや、面倒な人だ、あなたは [No, a troublesome person is what you are] Or perhaps difficult isn't the right word. Troublesome is what you are.
???
もしくは、その両方ですね [Or both] Actually, I suppose both are true.
???
こちらを選んでしまえば、楽なのに [If you had chosen this, it would have been easy] If you'd only chosen our side, it would've made things so much easier.
Solomon
あはは。ご期待に添えなくて悪いね [Ahaha. I'm sorry for not meeting your expectations] Ahaha. Sorry to disappoint you!
Solomon
俺がそうしないことは、君も知ってるだろう? [You knew I wouldn't do that, no?] But you must know I wouldn't do that, right?
Solomon
どうして今さら俺を試すようなことをするんだ? [Why are you testing me now?] So why are you testing me? Shouldn't we be past that point?
Solomon
俺の信念が揺らいでるようにでも見えた? [Did it seem like my believes were wavering?] Did you think I might be questioning my convictions?
???
揺らいでいる、とは思っていません [I don't think it's wavering] Not at the moment, no.
???
ですがー [But...] However...
???
あの方......。 可愛い弟子のあの方が巻き込まれても [That person... Even if that cute apprentice should get involved...] What if your adorable apprentice were to get caught up in all of this?
???
あなたが揺らぐことはないのでしょうか [...would you never waver?] Perhaps then you might reconsider your convictions?
Solomon
それは脅しかい? 悪魔みたいなことを言うんだな [Is that a threat? You sound like a demon...] Is that a threat? You know, you sound just like a demon...
Solomon
でも大丈夫。MCも俺と同じ気持ちだからね [But it's alright. MC feels the same way as me, after all] Still, it doesn't change anything. Because MC feels the same way I do.
???
あの方の本当に望むことを、自分なら 理解していると?過信しすぎでは? [Do you think you can understand what that person really wants? Are you overconfident?] You think you know what it is your apprentice truly wants? That you can see inside the heart of another? That doesn't strike you as overconfident?
Solomon
そうでもないよ [Not really] Not at all.
???
その傲慢なほどの自信は いったいどこから満ちてくるのか...... [Where on earth is that arrogant self-confidence coming from...] You have confidence to the point of arrogance. Where exactly does it come from, I wonder...
???
あなたこそ、悪魔のような振る舞いを しているのでは? [Aren't you the one acting like a demon?] Have you considered that you're behaving quite a bit like a demon yourself?
Solomon
悪魔のような振る舞いかあ。 でも考えてみたら、仕方ないことじゃないか? [I'm acting like a demon? But if you try thinking about it, isn't it inevitable?] You think I'm behaving like a demon... Well, if you think about it, that's to be expected, right?
Solomon
だってさ [Because] I mean...
Solomon
今の俺を減らしたのは、君なんだから [The one who reduced me to what I am now is you] You're the one who made me who I am today, after all.
Solomon
そうだろう? 「ナイトブリンガー」 [Right? "Nightbringer"] Isn't that right, Nightbringer...?

Pick a card - Describing your beauty 😍
A reading that can help bringing you positivity. Let me attempt to describe your beauty. I may also provide some advices to enhance your beauty in some piles.
As always, this is a general reading, so just take what resonates, and leave the rest behind. Also, this reading is aim to provide positive vibes. If you find the messages offensive, then the message may not be for you. Maybe you are not ready for the messages, or you can try pick another pile.
👇🏻 Pick a heart emoji that you feel drawn to 👇🏻
Tumblr media
And find the corresponding reading for you below!
💜 Pile 1 💜
People feels that you need to be seen more, because they want to see your beauty! They can see the glow of you, even when you're trying your very very best to hide it. Besides that, people also see that you're visibly hurt, so they want to help you with the healing.
Yes, I can see that pile 1 is definitely going through some shit. It's more apparent in the way you push people away, or hurt people with your words. I can see that you don't do this because you like to hurt others, but it's due to you not feeling yourself worthy enough to be loved 😔 You seem to be pessimistic, due to the intense suffering you've been through. I can specifically see suffering inflicted by male or religion here.
You may not believe it, but people feel that you're a royalty, as they can't help but admire how you go through so much shit, while still be able to remain a good person. The color you picked, which is purple, is a color of royal too. Also, 3 of the 4 queens have showed up in your reading. The only one missing is the Queen of Cup, which indicates you should try to be more open to the idea of love. Let people love you. Believe that you are loveable. And more importantly, love yourself.
Give yourself a chance, to be open to more people. This time it's not the same, as you're stronger than before, and also not all people is as horrible as those you've met before. Be open to the love and kindness of people. Let them help you, and most importantly, let us see your beauty and your glow. I feel that you're now living in a shell, but not even the shell can fully cover your brilliance, no matter how hard you try to shut it tight.
(I don't want to specify the events, but I really feel that you've been through some tough things. Songs about toxicity and violence keep showing up in this reading. Your pain is valid, but don't let it define you. Things will definitely get better. ❤️‍🩹)
🩵 Pile 2 🩵
I feel that you have a dark vibe and a retro style. Your beauty feels timeless, which reminds me of Lana Del Rey and Dita von Teese. You probably like black, and maybe blue too.
Your beauty is intimidating yet breathtaking. You make people just want to stop and admire you, and be with your vibe. The vibe of yours is dark yet very soothing, making people feels like everything will be ok if you're here. Some also find your style very inspiring. I cannot accurately describe why but I can come up with an example. It feels like people spend hundreds of dollars to buy an e-ink tablet, so that their eyes won't hurt by the light of the screen, and one day you remind them that paper book exists. 💥📕
I didn't forget about the intimidating part of your beauty. People knows that you look fine but they also know that you are not the one to be fucked with. Just looking at you, they can imagine what will happen if they make an unwise move on you 💀 You feel dangerous, but it only makes you dangerously beautiful. Must be the dark vibes that you exude. Reminds me of "Jiraikei", a Japanese style which looks really cute, but can be very destructive. As the name, "jirai", which literally means landmine suggested, people will be shred to pieces if they're not careful. But there may be some people who purposely mess with you, because they want to be screwed lol 💀💣
❤️ Pile 3 ❤️
Man. You probably an air sign. The energy is so air sign. Or maybe you aren't because I am not an air sign, and am not experiencing the air sign experience firsthand.
You feel so elusive. Looks like a fairy that doesn't belong in the human world, and is super rare. You looks beautiful, but at the same time you feels like you don't belong to anyone exclusively. This makes some people want to catch you, and own you. (And then they failed lol) Some people will try to make you commit in a relationship with them, just so they can see you more often. (I guess they also failed too lol 💀)
The way of your speech also has a charm to it. You can say something that makes zero sense at all, rambling bs, and people still listen the whole thing, or even believe in you. You may find this a bit amusing sometimes. However, there may be some people thinking that you're shallow, and untrustworthy, because of the way you speaking.
You probably surrounded by people. I feel that you're quite popular, and may even have multiple people crushing on you. They really be like moths to the flames. This makes you feel overwhelmed, and makes you want to hide from people sometimes. It also makes you a bit confused about who you should spend your time with. This makes you hop from people to people, one thing to another thing, which contributes in your elusive vibe.
Although you know that you're liked by people, you still find yourself comparing yourself to others. You make changes to yourself from time to time, which is a nice thing. However, some changes are unnecessary, especially those you made just to please others.
I heard an example that sounds quite contradictory, but if you get it then maybe it's a message for you. Some people may think that you're so hard to keep up with, and they want you to be more grounded. However, when you try to be grounded, you lost your charm and find yourself struggling. You have to acknowledge that your unpredictability is a part of your beauty, that should not be changed. You have to know that if people find it struggling to deal with you, that means that you're not for them, instead of you being the problem. 🥴
(This is one of my favourite songs. Also Prince was a Gemini. More air sign energies. He was not afraid of speaking up and changing things up. And he was always changing musically. There's a quote from him, saying that making music is like meeting a new friend, which made him want to make something he had never seen before.)

invisible disability? it's rather visible to me.
summary. baizhu knows the struggle of maintaining a job while being chronically ill; as such, he is willing to offer an accommodating work environment for others who struggle like he does.
trigger & content warnings. angst (at first... it gets better i swear /lh), ableism, etc.
tropes, pairings, fic length, & other notes. hurt/comfort. baizhu & chronically ill!teen!reader, qiqi & reader. 1.7k words. they/them pronouns for reader.
author's thoughts. he's out of nonplayable prison ygs!!!!! can't wait to see his character stories for..... personal reasons..... anyways i want to specify that i am chronically ill. i am constantly fighting with my genetics to be healthy, its ridiculous LMAO
Tumblr media
imagine baizhu employing a chronically ill, visionless teenager.
baizhu can easily say he's known their family for a long time, so he of course knows that they have trouble keeping a job. they often mention little things like that about their life during their visits with him. never once has he found anything wrong with them; they're always in virtually perfect health.
that doesn't change the fact that they're very clearly struggling. he's observed just how much they overexert themselves in a desperate attempt to actually keep a stable job, simply to help support their family, but all the exertion only seems to make their invisible issues worse.
also... they've been in his care for heat stroke more than once in liyue's warmer seasons. the heat is just far too much for their body to handle if they aren't careful.
"What the hell is wrong with me?"
Their voice was so quiet and whispery that if Baizhu hadn't been attuned closely to them at that moment, he might have missed it. They half wished that he would have. Based on the brief glance he spared in their direction, they knew he was listening. Oh well.
"I mean... really. This is ridiculous," they murmured, knees drawn up against their chest. "Everyone thinks I'm just dramatic. I'm not. I do fine for the most part, but then it just... gets bad for no reason at all... how am I in perfect health?"
By that point in their rant, his undivided attention was on them. Though his gaze was thoughtful, musing, they interpreted it differently and winced slightly.
"...Sorry. I really shouldn't be complaining like this in front of someone who's chronically ill."
"No, it's quite alright. You shouldn't minimize your pain. Your struggles are as valid as mine. I find your trust, your ability to confide in me, quite endearing, even," he reassured, unbothered, to which their shoulders seemed to lose some of the tension they harbored. "In fact... I've been thinking about this for quite some time now. Chronic illness may show itself in a variety of forms. Sometimes it may show itself in the form of your symptoms. Would you like to learn how to manage your energy better?"
the liyuean doctor basically hired them right then and there, but they don't really realize that for the first few weeks.
in the beginning, they're just... spending time at bubu pharmacy, learning how baizhu manages his own limited energy and applying those techniques to their own life (it works shockingly well). that's all!
it slowly turns into them helping out where they can—packaging herbs, learning what exactly each one of them does, delivering prescriptions to those who cannot physically get the medicines themselves... even when people start to question if they've found a new job, they remain oblivious.
it's one day while helping mince herbs that they realize they're basically a junior herbalist.
A soft hiss left their lips when the knife nicked the pad of their finger. They were quick to put pressure on the little cut, pulling their hand away from the countertop to prevent any blood from dripping onto it.
"It's best to get rid of those herbs," Baizhu reminded, stepping away from his own work to gently bandage their wound.
A small pout graced their lips. "I didn't get any blood on them, though..."
Amusement and the vaguest hint of fondness twinkled in his gaze. "We don't know that for certain, do we, now?"
"...Wait a minute." Their eyes narrowed suspicously at him, drawing their freshly-dressed hand back once he was done. "This isn't about energy management anymore, is it? Have I been... I've been working here this entire time. These tasks are very employee-like."
"Come, now. Don't look at me like that. You were looking for a stable job, and I am more than willing to accomodate your needs."
"You could've at least said something to me. I've been doing free labor all this time, and as a child, no less! Hmm... now, I do believe that is illegal in this part of Teyvat~ It'd be shame to get Ms. Yanfei involved~"
in the spirit teaching them to manage their energy, he often takes them on house calls with him, starting off to just homes in liyue harbor and later to homes all the way in qingce village. it's a good way for them to gain stamina and get a better understanding of their job.
baizhu has a tendency to smile through his own pain for the sake of his patients.
this habit slipped by unchecked until [name] came around.
whenever they feel like he isn't doing very well, they'll take over for him regardless of what he has to say about it.
herbalist gui is very thankful for them—baizhu hardly ever listened to him, but he does take better care of himself for [name]'s sake.
(he swears that baizhu is oddly parental when it comes to them, but he wouldn't dare mention the doctor's blatant affections to his face.)
"welcome to bubu pharmacy," they'd greet with a kind smile after unceremoniously shoving baizhu towards the back of the pharmacy where he could rest undisturbed, "unfortunately, dr. baizhu is currently out of commission, but herbalist gui and i would be glad to take care of anything you may need."
sometimes changsheng can be seen wrapped around their arm! usually it's their dominant arm, which is terribly inconveniencing. still, it would be an honor to be Chosen™ by their loved one's pet... if only she wasn't so mean to them.
"Hmph. You're terrible at cutting herbs. It pains me just to watch."
"Okay? Go back to Dr. Baizhu then? I'm not holding you hostage, Changsheng. You came to me," they huffed. "Also... maybe I'd be able to cut better if you weren't strangling my dominant arm. Just saying."
It's a few moments later that they're sulking, murmuring curses as Baizhu disinfected their fresh snake bite. Changsheng completely neglected to apologize until Baizhu had prompted her to.
(They would complain that he found that incident a little too funny if anyone were to ask them. It really hurt, you know!)
changsheng bullies them lovingly <3 she bites them affectionately <33
(not that she'd ever say that, though. baizhu knows. he just chooses to let her believe he doesn't know.)
qiqi becomes very attached to them very quickly, i think. she'd like having a nice older sibling around and would address them as such without even thinking about it. "jiějiě," "gēgē"... she can't really tell what gender they identify closer with and doesn't remember to ask, so she tends to bounce between the two terms of address.
she has an entire page in her journal dedicated to little things about [name] that she deems to be important. she notes down things they seem to like, things they seem to dislike, their birthday, other important dates, defining features...
she also keeps important warning signs related to health episodes of their's jotted down, like how when [name] stands still a little too long, qiqi should urge them to sit for a moment because they're probably either dizzy or having vision issues, or how when their hands begin to tremble, qiqi should share a sunsettia with them.
she does miss these signs sometimes... she does her best, though! qiqi only wants to help the sweet junior herbalist that braids her hair and accompanies her on her herb-picking trips and hugs her and says "i love you, please stop this task, you might get hurt" with so much genuine affection that it often overwhelms her :(
it's rare, but sometimes, there will be a customer or patient that has little tolerance for their disability-induced weakness or slowness.
because their illness(es) is(/are) invisible, very few people take their struggles seriously.
some people take this as an excuse to verbally and even physically abuse them.
baizhu does not take kindly to people abusing his employees, especially not his chronically ill teenage employee. especially not them.
"Is there an issue I can help with?"
They didn't mind being the only one at reception during the days Herbalist Gui was out, Qiqi was herb-picking, and Baizhu was otherwise occupied. It wasn't a big deal, really.
At least... not until someone particularly impatient decided to make their job difficult.
Baizhu never took kindly to such incidents; this one was no different. Based on his tone of voice alone, it wasn't hard to guess that he was livid, golden irises alight with rage. Even Changsheng had hissed in their defense at the sight in front of her eyes.
He'd come back just in time to see them flinch away from the raised hand of some foreign adventurer.
"This one—"
"And who said I was asking you?" he scoffed, sliding behind the counter and checking them for wounds. They were shaking, he noted, gingerly supporting a fraction of their weight in case they were to collapse. "I was asking my herbalist, [Name]."
Baizhu was a man of patience and, really...
He wasn't all that confrontational. Despite that, any semblance of the supposed cowardice he harbored was gone in an instant.
His scarred fingers drew soothing shapes on their upper arm as he led them into the back of the clinic, guiding them to sit on one of the beds before their legs could give out.
"Are you alright?"
baizhu takes very good care of them after stressful encounters because he knows very well that such high-stress emotional experiences will take a toll on their body.
whenever a wealthier patient comes in, they've learned to overcharge them on purpose even if it's for the most ridiculous of ailments; oh? you say you have been sneezing quite a lot and are having a hard time breathing? no, no, it's not springtime allergies, who told you that? it's quite dire, in fact, and the treatment price will be awfully expensive... oh? you'll pay it? wonderful!
^ herbalist gui says that baizhu is a terrible influence on them sometimes.
in their defense, they get hefty bonuses every time wealthy people pay ridiculous prices for typically rather inexpensive herbs (like a certain ginger harbinger did one time! they still giggle at the memory of him paying so much for so little). the more wealthy people pay, the bigger their bonuses (fatui harbingers are very wealthy...).
simply put, they make more mora than the majority of their family put together because of this morally dubious behavior.
baizhu, gui, qiqi, and [name] are a chaotic found family but yk what? they all make it work <3
please consider reblogging, it helps me out quite a lot!

Public Shock as Megumi Fushiguro Refuses to do Promotional Video
The Jujutsu Kaisen star says he “doesn’t understand” why he was “suddenly grouped differently” for the interviews
The entertainment world was shaken on Monday when the Jujutsu Kaisen official twitter account announced that they were cancelling their planned promotional interviews due to “lack of participation” on the actors’ parts. While fans were outraged and demanded to know what happened, Megumi Fushiguro took a leap, stepped out, and took the blame.
“Stop sending hate mail to the cast,” he tweeted. “I chose not to be part of the interviews, and my friends stood with me. There were some problems, but we’re working through them.”
Tumblr media
The star went on to explain via replies that he felt the groupings for the interviews were problematic, and that there was a simple solution that he’d like the promotions team to employ.
In an interview with Electric Magazine, he said, “I don’t understand why I was suddenly grouped differently. For every other interview I did, specifically those for season one, I was grouped with characters and actors I was connected with – Yuji, Nobara, Satoru, whoever. Season two has brought in a few minor characters, including my character’s biological dad… I just don’t think my character should be grouped with his biological dad over his friends.
“Promotions thought it was a good idea to group our characters together because in the show, we’re related. But it doesn’t work like that. My character hates his dad, why are they putting us in an interview together?”
Fushiguro also specified that he meant no hate towards Toji, the man who plays his character’s father in the show, but he thought it made little sense for their characters to be in the same interview.
Other cast members also stepped in with messages of support for Fushiguro, including co-star Yuji Itadori and adoptive father Satoru Gojo.
“Biological relations mean nothing when someone has been abandoned. This may seem overdramatic to some, but these interview groupings are an insult to adoptive, found, and loving family,” the famous actor wrote.
Tumblr media
“No-one should have to bring up their personal life in public to have their voice heard. Everyone who has a brain would know these groupings are completely wrong. Stay strong Megumi, you’re doing the right thing,” Shoko Ieri replied to the emotive post.
“good for you megumi. stand up to those ignorant idiots,” Nobara Kugisaki tweeted, complete with a picture of her and Fushiguro together.
“Megumi’s character already has a dad. Biological does not mean family. Things will never be right until the producers understand this,” wrote Itadori.
“I will not being doing the interview until Megumi can do his,” was Kento Nanami’s bold stance.
Amongst a split and conflicted fanbase, the official twitter simply tweeted, “We did not realise our actors would feel strongly about their interview groups and we had no intention to offend. The groups will be fixed ASAP and hopefully the interviews will go ahead.”
Many viewers felt this was an unfeeling response to Fushiguro’s genuine problem, with one even replying, “This just proves that the industry doesn’t care. It’s not about whether the interviews can go ahead, it’s about why it was deemed appropriate to group Megumi with a minor, unrelated character in the first place.”
Outcry against the producers and promotions teams seemed endless, with #jjkpromo and #staystrongmegumi trending for weeks across all platforms. Most felt that it had been a stupid decision from the start, since Megumi was a main character and should therefore be with the other main characters regardless of who he was related to. Others felt that extra sensitivity was needed due to Fushiguro’s own background, which was clearly the root of his ‘interview strike’.
“Yeah, I’m adopted,” he told Electric Magazine. “And yeah, that’s probably why I care so much. But the point stands. This character is unrelated to mine; this character is a minor, abusive father who my character despises. It’s not okay to normalise healing those relationships or still associating these people together.
“If I was someone who was abandoned by an abusive father – and I’m not, but many people are – how would I feel to know that the media still considers us family? How would I feel knowing that society prioritises that biological relationship over the connections I’d built with my friends?
“I guess this could be seen as overdramatic. It’s just an interview. I know. But it represents so much more; it’s a signal flare from the media and I’m not willing to let it go past me.”
Eventually, even Toji stepped forward, tweeting, “I’ve been quiet because I don’t know what to say, but I see I need to say something. Megumi is right to protest this grouping. I thought it was odd that we were put together as we don’t even share any scenes, but I see know it could have become weaponised. #istandwithmegumi.”

Electric will keep updating as events unfold.

Mag 81 A Guest for Mr Spider
FUCK FORMER HEAD ARCHIVIST
Wait I need to check the timelines - this was 2 days after leitner's death
New spooky music???
My man is so fucking dramatic I love him so much "grand of sand behind my eye" love the way he speaks
Yeah FUCK JURGEN LEITNER
Omg the greying hair is canon??
Child in the 90s makes him at most 27 GOD DAMN. I was imagining like mid 30s...can you imagine a fucking 27 yr old using words like "ilk" when talking to you
Oh shit he's an orphan poor guy
Yeah ok a lot of his personality seems to make sense if you realise he was raised by his grandma
You know those memes that are like people raised by their grandparents are exceptionally polite but in a brisk way, talk fancy and are super posh? Yeah that's him.
Getting such neurodivergent vibes
Yeah he sounds like a main character from the start Jesus Christ he's such a kid who got traumatised and then grows up to be a horror protagonist vibes
My First Leitner lol like kids had to be introduced to them at a young age like those my first toys
He's so funny I can just imagine him as an 8 yr old getting super like affronted at this like how dare my grandma think I am of subpar intelligence he's such a little bitch from the start
"The eponymous Mr spider" even talking about his childhood trauma he's busting out the vocabulary
Fuck that story actually kinda rattled me I had my hand over my mouth in shock for most of it
I think it was the bit where the horsefly brought his son and they were both crying that got me, I could definitely imagine it scaring an 8 yr old
The way it drags out as well, with the pages of the same scene it really heightens the suspense
Is his childhood bully someone we should keep track of?? Love how he says Michael probably cause he sees him as a bully lol
It's interesting how despite him bullying him (quite badly seeing as though he beat him up) he's still like yeah but he saved my life and that means he deserves to be remembered
My bro didn't save your life on purpose, he was just trying to make it worse and happened to come to a terrible fate cause of that
I guess underneath it all he was still a kid who watched someone die, knowing they'd get eaten by a fucking spider, he still held him in some regard
The way he specified the guy was his bully even after he was being eaten though lol
He was desperate to get the book back? That's a leitner thing I guess, the book makes you want to keep it so it can finish whatever it wanted to do to you
On my relisten (which I will do once I've finished the series I'm sure of it), I'll have to look out for any reaction of leitners name
I wonder why Jon didn't react more to Carlos vittery's statement, like it must've terrified him? I saw a post a while back explaining Jon's thoughts and IT WAS GENIUS it was like of course he doesn't react, he must be terrified that someone knew about his experience and somehow did this to mess with him or it was a joke and he can't let anyone know that the Head Archivist is not Good at This ugh it's so good I'll tag it if I can find it
AHHHHH HE REGRETS DISMISSING THE OTHER STATEMENTS AHHHHHH

It's so funny that an apparent supernatural cynic dated a ghost podcaster

Ok so after a bit of me actually taking time to think about the collectors situation this is my sort of realized opinion: (warning: it is very long)
As I saw someone else state, the collector was previously imprisoned for like hundreds of years on the isles. Probably not a nice memory to have. Although, it was pretty much only with you know who, so it’s not like he’s gotten sick of or holds a feeling to flee the entire demon realm itself. But I dont feel bad if he wants some space (haha)
Aside from his siblings, there wasn’t really a specified thing for him to dislike the stars in any way. If anything he felt more comfortable there. he probably misses it a little bit, given the starry aesthetic of the archives and stuff. NOW don’t take this as me saying he is better off there. If anything, I am still a little nervous about the whole situation. The ambiguity of “the stars”, while I like in a petty fashion, doesn’t give much confirmation on what he’s actually dealing with. It is something familiar at least, but we don’t even know if it’s literally space or just another realm (parallel to the demon realm or human realm). If I had to hope of anything though, that if they meet their siblings, he beats them to a pulp. Fuck them. I don’t think he’d get tricked by them again, since he’s clearly figured out their shit even before season 3. Overall, I wish they elaborated on the realm before having him just whizz off there at the end. It could be good or bad, but in the end we do sort of have a reason to feel “wait wtf come back” and “where are you going??” In a way.
NOW the other thing! That people who are angry about this situation are bringing up (and that I mainly agree with). Which is the whole “found family” message of the show, and also the “nobody argued” line. Now, thinking about it from the shoes of Luz/Eda: powerful being who sort of just brainwashed (? Idk what to call the puppet situation. Controlled..? Eh, you know what I mean) a shit ton of people and doesn’t seem to care about their well being. Face-value. BUT!! (Big but) They also see that this being is a child that genuinely does want normal things like love and truth, but doesn’t understand concepts like death and friendship. They see a kid that is really upset, but trying their best to make others perceive themselves as “approachable” and/or worthy of their time (oof). Overall, trying his very best. Luz specifically sees all of this, and even makes an effort to congratulate the Collector when he attempts to take what she said into heart. He IS perfectly capable of expressing himself in a healthy way, he really just needs a proper parental figure to help him out. (Stares aggressively at Camila until she burns up). He’s not “uncontrollable”, he’s just lived the past few years with a crusty old puritan and has essentially learned the exact opposite of what he’s trying to accomplish.
Then, we get to the scene where the “nobody argued” line hits. Oog. I can understand that they think he should take time to himself after all of… that. And they probably respect his choice to mature too. ALTHOUGH. Like, after everything I’ve previously pointed out… wouldn’t any of them be a t i n y bit concerned about him going off all alone again? His whole ordeal these years has him being afraid of being alone!! He is ofc welcomed to the owl house, and can return whenever he likes, but, just like us, we don’t know crap about the star realm. The only things they know is that out there, he has shit siblings that fucked him up. Wouldn’t at least some of them be concerned? I do have a feeling he is going to be fine (we “sort” of see him in the credits so he’s alive which is to be expected). But still, in that moment, it would be weird that “no one argued”. All I would have wanted was someone to say “but will you be ok alone?” And then saying “oh yeah! I like it there, I know how to get around/ I have people there that I am cool with 👍” and then that. Like a little thing… idk. I do like that idea that after a few days he comes back because he realizes “actually I am mentally 9 (and possibly autistic) I don’t know how to figure out social cues on my own.” Like again there could be star people who are cool and will fill that place, but that’s only speculation. This whole time they were building up the idea that he shouldn’t be alone and needs others to figure stuff out! Because he was with Luz, only for a little bit, he absorbed the idea that giving kindness, when it’s deserved, is a better way to make friends than forcing people. And because he was with Luz, he learned (the hard way) how scary and forever death really is. Then in that ending scene with him, he just… figures he will be cool without them for a bit, and they agree too. (?) rehghfjk. This wasn’t a totally terrible decision, but the ambiguity of it just!! Makes it reasonably to feel ok with. How long will he be gone at a time? Are there other people he will be with? We aren’t exactly given an answer. We get allusions, but that’s it.
I am at least glad that King, of all people, would tell them that he wishes the collector would come back soon. (Was that another way of them saying he would come back sooner than later? It’s not confirmed so idk) I like this because, well, King was essentially the person that the Collector was closest to. (Besides Belos but he was the exact opposite on the spectrum of cool people to hang out with) King, as a kid himself, would relate most to him. He says that himself in FTF. He is understandably pissed at the whole puppet thing, but he understands that “I should address this but also acknowledge he doesn’t know better to an extent”. King would want to treat the Collector as he would himself, and how he knows how important having a family, whether it is blood or found, is important to oneself. King wouldn’t be half the character he is nowadays if it wasn’t for Eda and Luz to accompany him. When he told the collector “I hope to see you again” that makes sense; he knows that the collector would benefit from having people like how he did, and it would be beneficial, regardless if the collector does get proper parental figures in the star realm, if he would see them often. And ofc, he would probably genuinely want to hang out with them as well. He was glad to be their friend, to an extent. He was never totally unhappy about his situation in FTF. Also, him giving the Collector Francois at the end was really cute. Just in case he needs a buddy until he gets there. As far as we know, the collector needs Francois more than King does. And I think King knows that.
Ok so I think that’s it for my thoughts. If I suddenly remember something I will add it in. I’m not saying that I’m right or wrong, this is just how I genuinely feel. Feel free to comment your own opinions!! I am open to have my mind changed. In the end, I guess I just want the best for my little blorbo. Can you blame me…??

“You cannot fix everything, child.”
A frown creases at your brows as you work on the rip you had caused in Fruzsi’s kefta during a sparring session of which she insists you had cheated. She hadn’t specified a no knives rule and hiding a blade up your sleeve has become a new habit of yours.
The frown on your face isn’t a result of the kefta, which knits itself back together neatly as you smooth a circular motion over the fabric with your palm. The frown is because the workshop is empty, meaning you are the unlucky target of Baghra’s scorn – something you thought you could live the rest of your life without.
“It’s a kefta, Baghra. I learnt to make these when I was twelve.”
She scoffs.
“I’m not talking about that measly scrap of cloth. I’m talking about your beloved General.”
Fruzsi would certainly be offended by that comment about her kefta and something inside you cringes at the old woman’s sneer at the word ‘beloved’.
Doing your best to ignore Baghra, you trace your fingertip over some of the frayed embroidery, using your power to weave the deep blue tidemaker pattern back into place amongst the glossy silk.
“The merzost is poisoning him, and there is no cure.”
Without looking at her, you muse quietly,
“No cure, yet.”
She hums mockingly, the corner of her mouth lifting into a smirk. Her clothing shifts against metal bars as she leans backwards on her stool.
“A little optimist.”
Rolling your eyes, you glance over at her.
She’s been playing the weak old woman act whenever David or Vladim have been in the workshop, hoping to incite some pity from them. After all, neither of them had been subjected to her lessons, unlike you, they don’t know what she is truly like.
“I know what you’re doing. It won’t work.”
She holds your gaze for a long moment. Baghra certainly isn’t afraid of you, but something makes her fidget with the bandage wrapped around the remaining stub of her finger.
Then she calls out,
“Stop lurking, boy.”
Turning your head, your eyes lock with the General’s as he steps into the workshop. His expression shifts as he looks away from you to glower at Baghra, his voice terse as he speaks,
“Mother.”
Finished with mending Fruzsi’s kefta, you stand up slowly, hoping not to draw attention to yourself. As you pick up your book of folktales, tucking it against your chest as you fold the kefta under your other arm, you feel the weight of the General’s eyes on you.
Giving him a small nod, you move towards the door he had just stepped through.
“I’ll leave you to it,” you say quietly.
He inclines his head as you walk by him.
At the sound of your name, you turn back with a small frown. For a moment the General doesn’t seem to know what he was going to say to you.
“Any further developments?” he asks, gesturing lightly towards the table beside him where Vladim has curated an extensive collection of ingredients.
The search for the fox amplifier meant that you now spend a lot of time out in the woods, and as a result Vladim’s desk has new additions on a regular basis. Whenever you find a plant that could be useful, you retrieve some leaves or seeds to aid him in his experiments – and hopefully improve the General’s condition.
“I made some adjustments to Vladim’s tonic,” you tell him, fiddling with the spine of your book. “Added bramble leaves which should help with your throat and the fatigue.”
As you’re speaking, your gaze flickers over his shoulder, landing on Baghra who stares at you with a pointed look that makes you bristle as if you can hear her thoughts.
There is no cure.
Almost instantly, you have a determined response. Not yet. But there will be.
He nods in acknowledgement, his eyes skimming over the cordials and glass bottles perched on Vladim’s desk.
“Thank you.”
There’s a pause between you both, as his gaze flickers over to meet yours and you offer him a small smile. For a moment you think the corner of his mouth moves to return you smile.
As the silence hangs, you step back.
“I should go.”
He nods again before he turns away and you step out of the workshop, making your way down the corridor towards your room to change out of your kefta and into your walking clothes.
»»---------------------►
Dampness hangs in the air, making the horizon hazy with mist as you walk through the trees, boots collecting dew from the grass you trek over quietly. Birds chirp overhead, providing you with some comfort. If the birds are here, then it must be safe.
Walking alone in Ravka is becoming more and more dangerous these days, especially for Grisha. First Army patrols change course regularly in an attempt to find the General. There’s been rumours of Grisha hunters – Ravkan not the Drüskelle – tracking down Grisha that had gone on the run.
The General doesn’t allow many people to leave the Sanctuary and he has increased the number of Grisha patrolling during both day and night to ensure the house is well protected.
Alongside Fruzsi and Fedoyr, you make up the small council that the General keeps, the four of you meet regularly to discuss patrols, rescue missions, and general housekeeping for the Sanctuary.
It feels strange, to have suddenly gained such importance for your people, but despite the pressure you feel, it’s much better than whatever meagre task you might have been doing if you were an ordinary durast.
A snap in the distance has you freezing in place, eyes scouring over your surroundings to seek out any threats. If only you were a corporalki, all you can do is clasp your hands together and search for any nearby metals. But there’s nothing. No armour, no swords or guns, no knives – aside from the one up your sleeve and at your waistband.
Then a flash of red catches your attention.
Hazel eyes lock on yours and the breath stutters in your lungs.
The fox. You’ve found him.
He moves slowly, gaze unwavering as he studies you intently. Halted mid-step, he places his paw down in front of his body, edging his way towards you slowly.
When you had heard that Morozova’s stag existed – a towering white stag with huge antlers – you had expected all amplifiers to be large and majestic. But the fox looks like any other you might find in the woods.
Except his eyes. There’s a cunning edge there that reassures you that this is the fox you’ve been searching for. Power glimmers in each strand of fur, dewy from the raindrops that cling to the tall grasses surrounding him.
Above you, the birds flee, and you immediately look around, hearing voices in the distance. Heart pounding, your gaze whips back to the fox, but he’s already gone.
Right now, your priority is getting back to the Sanctuary safely, without being seen.
»»---------------------►
From that moment onwards, you visit the fox regularly, bringing gifts of berries and dried scraps of meat whenever you can. His bright hazel eyes always watch you intently, a peaceful presence by your side as you sit in the long grass.
The first time you trace your fingers over its thick fur a shiver runs through your body as you feel the fox’s power sing in your bones.
The theory you have is that if you can bond with the fox before claiming its power then it might be easier for you to merge forms. In all honesty, you have no idea how Grisha of the past had managed to execute such a feat.
Perhaps it isn’t even possible. But you have to try. Not only would becoming one with the fox allow you to use the full extent of your power, but it would also give you an advantage over any opponent you might face.
The General hasn’t asked you about the fox recently, though you often spot him watching you intently as you train, finding new ways to use your power to fight. Maybe the fox’s power lingers inside you, even when you return to the Sanctuary, because your power seems to flow within you better than ever.
Perhaps it isn’t about you claiming the fox, maybe the fox is the one to claim you.
Nevertheless, you find yourself enjoying your days, even with the threat of civil war and the General’s worsening condition dangling over your head.
»»---------------------►
Whilst the tidemaker’s mist keeps the Sanctuary hidden, it also makes the air chilly, and the lingering moisture in the air clings to your kefta as you rub your fingers together in an attempt to produce some warmth.
A peaceful quiet has settled over the grounds, in this moment where sunlight has risen over the mountains but very few people are awake. Soon enough, training will begin, and Grisha will be bustling about as they hone their abilities in preparation for whatever your next move will be.
Confrontations with the First Army have been increasing and you’ve heard rumours of Grisha being executed by firing squad.
The small refuge built here by the General feels more temporary by the day. East Ravka isn’t a large country. It’s only a matter of time before someone finds the Sanctuary.
Shifting slightly, you attempt to ease the ache that has settled into your legs from sitting on the edge of the low stone wall. Tucked away at the back of the house, your position allows you to see into what was once a small garden.
Now, the rose bushes are overgrown, and the stone plant basins are cracked and crumbling, but watching the rabbits explore the undergrowth provides you some entertainment, drawing your attention away from the book of folktales sitting in your lap.
The sound of wood creaking has you turning your head slightly, as the door behind you opens and the General steps out onto the smooth stone paving that makes up the worn out patio.
The dark circles under his eyes appear more defined this morning, the symptoms of his merzost use must have been keeping him from sleeping. Perhaps you should suggest another cordial, something for him to drink nightly, to ease his symptoms and allow him to sleep somewhat soundly.
The corner of his mouth lifts into a small smile as his eyes meet yours.
“Good morning,” he says softly. “May I join you?”
You nod.
“Of course.”
Bundling up the excess of your cloak, you edge your way closer towards the garden to give the General enough space to sit beside you.
“I read through your proposal.”
His voice is low, and he doesn’t look at you as he speaks. Looking down at your feet, you trace the toe of your boot through a dewy patch of grass.
“You think I’m insane.”
At the corner of your vision, you see the General shake his head.
“It has been quite some time since I last met someone whose ambition rivals my own.”
For some reason, his words bring a smile to your face. This man has done terrible things, dabbled in forbidden magic that is slowly corrupting his body, stealing his health from him. But the thought of being just a little bit like him makes a warmth settle in your chest.
Less than a year ago, you were an inconsequential little durast, tinkering away in the materialki workshops, making corecloth for the war effort.
Now you’re sitting beside the General, feeling a strange kinship with him.
“You wouldn’t have looked twice at me, back at the Little Palace,” you remark quietly, keeping your gaze away from his.
Two rabbits chase one another in the distance, weaving among the grass and leaves, kicking up dirt as they scurry about. It’s only once the silence has dragged on that you find the courage to look at his face.
His eyes scour over your features, studying you intently as you wonder what he’s thinking. His expression doesn’t change as he says in a low voice,
“Perhaps. But I’m looking at you now.”
»»---------------------►
The woods are quiet today, which unsettles you. Something in the back of your mind is warning you about something, but you continue along the familiar route towards where the fox likes to roam on sunny days like this.
At the sound of horses approaching, your heart hammers in your chest, and without a thought you take off running towards a mound of rocks where you know there’s a small cave.
Skidding as you near the entrance, you practically throw yourself down into the cave, pressing your back against hard rock as you strain your ears for the sound of horses or their riders.
Voices echo in the distant, but you can’t tell if they’re moving towards or away from you.
Clutching your knife in your hand, you attempt to slow your heart down, annoyed by the sound of it rushing through your ears and hindering your awareness of any oncoming threats.
At the sound of movement at the entrance to the cave, you retreat further into the stony depths, hiding in the shadows. The sight of red fur glistens in the low light and a pair of hazel eyes find yours.
Sighing in relief, you allow the knife to slip from your fingers, dropping to the ground as the fox approaches and you extend a hand towards him.
He moves over towards you without hesitation, stopping briefly to duck his head down by your feet before he nuzzles against your legs.
“You know what it’s like to be hunted too,” you muse quietly.
As you stroke your hand over the white fur at his chest, you realise what’s in his mouth. Your knife. Eyes flickering up to meet his hazel ones, you find an almost determined glimmer amongst the swirling golden browns and blues there.
Leaning back, you settle yourself down onto a chunk of rock, and the fox drops the knife in your lap, nudging your hand with his nose. Slowly, you curl your fingers around the hilt of the knife, eyeing the fox with a small frown.
“You’re sure?” you ask softly.
His eyes don’t waver from yours.
Tightening your grip on the knife, you look down at the blade as it shines in the low light. He licks at your knuckles, almost reassuringly. This is what you had wanted, the opportunity to become more powerful than you ever thought possible.
With your abilities amplified, you could protect more Grisha, perhaps you could even save the General. The theory you’ve been working on, balancing the merzost in his body, will require a powerful durast.
One of the reasons why you had been attempting to master the Cut was so that you could ensure that the fox’s death would be painless, but you hadn’t managed to do much more than a scratch with your power. The knife will have to do.
The creature’s claw should be a suitable material to create the connection between you both, and being a durast means you can fabricate your own amplifier as soon as possible.
Steadying the knife in your hand, you straighten your shoulders, breathing out a smooth exhale as you press the tip of the blade over the fox’s chest. Power thrums through you as you feel the metal of knife, poised to sink into flesh, the angle you’ve chosen will ensure it is unhampered by the bones that will amplify your abilities.
“Thank you,” you whisper.
The knife sinks downwards.

Some Interesting Stuff About the Development of Turlough
I was seriously tempted to call this post "Vis-lore Turlough". I am so fucking normal.
Anyway, I found a website via the TARDIS wiki that goes into detail about the concepts behind and making of Doctor Who episodes. For Mawdryn Undead, this means a discussion of how the character of Turlough was developed.
It started with JNT and Adric not going according to his vision. He was supposed to be a companion you couldn't quite trust, but that didn't really work with him, so it was decided that they'd try the idea again.
Tumblr media
Honestly, the "untrustworthy" thing didn't work with Adric because of his age. He had an innocent vibe to him and tended to work best when the fact that he was just a kid trying his best was emphasized.
He'd often sort of go rogue, trying to save the day in his own way, often with some lying and stealing involved, but this seemed to confuse people. Adric became infamous for taking the villain's side, something he only did once. He pretended to take the villain's side in two other stories, but it was a fake-out. In Kinda, since the villain he pretends to side with is obviously insane, the fake-out is also quite obvious. I've seen reviews of State of Decay that don't seem to understand that Adric was supposed to be faking, however. There was also Castrovalva, where Adric was forced to work with the Master, and there's a scene or two where he pretends to cooperate willingly, but it doesn't last very long and it's always clearly a fake-out. Honestly, Adric is actually a pretty bad liar. I'm not sure if he was supposed to come across that way, but it's what we got.
Turlough was an attempt to start over and try the idea again, but with a clear story arc behind it that would make the writers keep that element consistent. Notably, for a character meant as a replacement for Adric, and a character who'd later be introduced as a schoolboy, the original plan for Turlough doesn't seem to specify his age. He's an alien working for the Black Guardian.
Tumblr media
Unlike Adric, Turlough wasn't really meant to be a teenager. He originally wasn't going to be introduced as a schoolboy at all. The planned third story of season 20, where he'd be introduced, was The Song of the Space Whale, but the story fell through, eventually ending up as a Lost Story audio with 6 and Peri.
Tumblr media
Since this was a last minute change, Turlough wasn't actually aged down. According to Mark Strickson, Turlough is supposed to look like he doesn't belong in the setting, and one of the ways he doesn't belong is by being obviously too old. It's never directly explained to the audience that Turlough is older than he was pretending to be, though it is implied. When given Adric's old room, he complains about it looking like a child's room, because he's had enough of children. So, the clearest answer we get to Turlough's age is "older than Adric".
Having Turlough be a bit older makes the more morally ambiguous part of his character seem more convincing. He's also given a more clear motivation for it. Adric had kinda sorta been an outsider on his homeworld who learned to steal things, but he stole because his big brother did. Adric sort of latched on to any role model he found, so simply traveling with the Doctor would change his moral attitudes to better match him. He's still young enough that his worldview is shaped by adults. Turlough is old enough that, even if he respects and admires someone, he's developed his own view of the universe through his own experiences with it.
Another reoccurring point in Mark Strickson interviews is that he wanted Turlough to be more independent than most companions. He's from an advanced civilization, so he knows how all the tech works. He's familiar with alien species. He doesn't need the Doctor to explain everything to him. But, the show kind of forced the companions into a simplistic role. JNT believed that at the end of the day, the companions were there to ask "what's happening, Doctor?" even in situations where they should definitely already know. They had to stand in for not only an audience of ordinary humans, but an audience primarily of children, so even things that a regular human adult could figure out would sometimes have to be spelled out to them.
Janet Fielding also had a problem with this for feminist reasons. Tegan wasn't supposed to be stupid. This led to a period of time where everyone was going rogue. You had two actors playing their companions as intelligent, independent adults when the script needed the opposite.
I'm calling attention to this because I think it's interesting that this was happening with Five's companions specifically. Five's main fandom characterization is as a dad with all these adopted queer youths. Five does often act like that, but it would be interesting to really look at that in the context of companions that probably wouldn't want to be treated that way. Adric and Nyssa were both introduced as teenagers, though Nyssa seemed to grow up over time. They sort of were his adopted children.
But, Tegan and Turlough enter the TARDIS as adults. The actors' frustrations could actually fit in-character. Tegan feels like she's being talked down to because she's a woman and Turlough had to pass himself off as a schoolboy but is sick of it. Why he doesn't change out of his damn uniform makes no sense with this in-universe. Out of universe, 80s Doctor Who characters were often given limited selections of outfits so they'd be more recognizable. In Turlough's case, he was dressed in black to contrast with the Doctor's white and beige and Tegan's more bold colors. It represented the personality of each character: The Doctor is mild-mannered, Tegan is bold and tends to stand out, Turlough is somber and cynical.
So, over time, Five's companions grow up. Nyssa is with him long enough that she literally comes of age while traveling with him. With Adric and Nyssa gone, we're left with Tegan and Turlough as two adult companions. Five spent years alone with Nyssa, basically acting as her adoptive father, raising her to adulthood, when she decides to leave home. He's not sure how to relate to his companions as adults. They haven't been in quite a while.
In comparing 5's companions to older companions, Adric and Nyssa are more like Susan or Zoe, very smart, but still kids. Tegan is more like Sarah Jane, limited in scientific knowledge by being a 20th century woman, but still clever and not fond of being talked down to. Turlough is more like Romana, another intelligent alien that the Doctor could communicate with as an equal. At least, that's how I would've thought of it if I'd been given these characters
This has devolved into rambling now. I just wanted to analyze 5's companions and "dad" status. I've run out of things to say.

Hello again I was the one who asked u the s3 question and now I have finished watching the finale and tbh I have so many emotions going on right now but the main thing I want to know is - was Will aware that shit will go that way or did he plan Hannibal escape or he was just going with the flow?? What was the endgame he wanted to have ? I am confused because his plan doesn't seem like a solid plan. He also warned Bedelia before all that . So like what was happening in the finale 😅😅😅
I think we can't try to rationalize actions that were bordering on insane. Bedelia clocked that when she said "what you are becoming is pathological". She is arguably the most intelligent and perceptive character in the show, so we know she's absolutely right about this. "You found religion", she says. Will is not close to normal or sane in this last part of the series, and this show has that element of "long term foreshadowing", so things that happened in season one, only made sense in season two and so on, and unfortunately they were almost certain they'd be getting a 4th season, so I'm pretty sure most questions would be answered there :/.
But, I think it's safe to say they were prepping us for a completely insane Will Graham, since Fuller said in season four it would be "Will Graham's broken mind".
I believe his actions were already mirroring this brokenness, so it's hard to try and make sense of them, he was acting carelessly.
But we do have interesting insights from the script that could help us answer your question:
Tumblr media
Here we see that Will is shattered and incomplete. This is when Francis gets him in the hotel room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we understand that Will is mirroring a scene where Francis burned down his shrine. Both he and Hannibal are lighting up votive candles. This isn't random, no writer would waste time putting such specific detail and then making sure this was on the scene, for no reason or aesthetic reasons (aesthetics would not be on the script unless it had symbolic meaning, notice how they never write the coloring of the show, the way they light up Mads' face to look like a skull, etc, those are aesthetic choices and do not need to be specified on script in such detailed manner).
VOTIVE in all caps is very meaningful, too. For those who don't know, this is what votive candles mean:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both of them are lighting votives. At the altar.
Then, we have this line that Will says to Reba, about Francis:
Tumblr media
This is basically foreshadowing of the cliff scene/dragon fight. This is exactly what both Will and Hannibal feel about one another.
And just before he executes the plan, we have this great exchange with Bedelia:
Tumblr media
He had no clue what he truly wanted. All he wanted was to free Hannibal. The rest was just happening. To him, Hannibal could've simply escaped after Francis shot the police. He asked Will to come. Will had no idea of the existence of the cliff house or anything like that, so he couldn't have predicted exactly what happened.
It's the exact same picture of an addict. If you spend a long time in abstinence, then you use, it hits harder than before and the recovery becomes even more difficult. He spent three years without Hannibal, "was it good to see me?", "Good? No." It was not good, it fucked him up. He was losing his mind and we see that in scenes where he's beginning to hallucinate again and is gradually being more affected by the Dragon's "energy"/idea.
He also threatened Bedelia, "I'd pack my bags if I were you". He had the intention of releasing Hannibal and all hell breaks loose after that. He had no specific plan other than setting H free and watching everything burn down.

So yes i understand that The Dragon Prince Season 5 came out not long ago (like 7 hours) But i have already over analyzed it and it is my time to rant/talk about it Sooooo
SEASON 5 OF THE DRAGON PRINCE SPOILERS AHEAD
IM WARNING YOU MEGA SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING OF THE SEASON⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
Okay, You have been warned😎
Basically in the last few minutes of Episode 9 of the season a-lot happens as it wraps it up.
One of these things is very important to Virens Character as Viren is one known only to go the route that gives power and/or what he “believes” is best for his family. So in the final moments of the episode Viren realizes that he is going to die and that he has to accept that he didn’t win once again, and that all the power he believed he had is now gone, which is so important for him to do. As the he lies on the sand, Aaravos’s words go through his head, they are the words “Tomorrow the sun will rise. And you will not.” as those words rush around his mind, we are shown only one of his eyes as it wells up with a tear, all the while he stares up into the sky. This event and moment is so momentous for his character as he finally accepts this fate that as he had mentioned to himself in a dreamscape, had already been written and it cannot be changed, as he looked to his younger self. So all in all this scene is very important for his character. (i genuinely didn’t know how to end this off as it is kinda bleak but it is what was needed for Viren as a character)
Now knowing from what you read above, Viren is known to likely be dead the next time the sun rises, as said by Aaravos, and Claudia (his only daughter) knows this. Before the scene where we see Virens acceptance, we see Claudia, and she is obviously not well. She has finally realized that all the tiresome work and power she had put into trying to save her dad, was not worth it. As she realizes this she is just barely surviving from drowning and she is washing up on the beach, where her boyfriend Terry (i have mixed emotions for this man) rushes too her and she collapses in a mix of tears and exhaustion.
As this is happening Terry notices Claudia only has one leg, as due to the octopus breathing spell thingy she lost one of her legs. So im guess this means next time we see present time Claudia she wont have a leg (im specifying present time just incase of dreams, very common this season, or flashbacks happen later on in the show) So ya girly is missing a leg, lovely jubly.
The final thing I wanted to write about was how we finally learned what Aaravos did to Janai’s Grandmother. Throughout the season we are shown very similar scenes of a dream of Janai’s that basically puts her in the place of her sisters death. It is a very trauma-induced dream, which from what I can see seems to happen in scenes after anxiety induced events. So, in the last few minutes we see this dream for a final time, but unlike the others in past times, we actually are able to hear what Aaravo’s whispers to Janai. What he whispered genuinely shocked me, he said that he swallowed her grandma. Honestly giving crab guy from Moana, but yk its okayyyy. I think. Who knows. BUT YA BACK ON TOPIC, Janai wakes up from the dream terrified and upset as normal and the scene ends with Amaya calming her down and its super cute and gay and stuff, lovely gays.
So ya, that’s basically what happened and i needed to rant and tumblr is the place to talk about fandoms so i did! Byeeee! (i started this at 10:50, it is now 1:43am😭)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've seen people mention that Crowley and Aziraphale might be swapped at the very end, but I really think they were swapped for the entire final 15, it doesn't really change anything other than the context under which the conversation is happening, but it makes more sense. They're a lot of little things that I'll list below but I'll put the three biggest things at top
Tartan collar: they are wearing the outfits they wear when switching in S1 and "Crowley" appears to have on The tartan collar ( This can be seen by pausing S2E6 at 36:27 it is red earlier in the same episode at as well as in the prior episode the first picture where it's red is when he was coming back from taking Nina and Maggie to the coffee shop)(you have to pause it as Aziraphale and the Metron are leaving the shop to be able to see it is not red)
Crowley gives away a book which we've established he would not do, but Aziraphale has in this season.
Crowley mentions a conversation that happened between Aziraphale and Maggie, not Crowley.
This is everything:
After seeing the metatron talk to Nina we come in to the middle of conversation showing we have missed something.
Azira seems stoic while being threatened (How Crowley portrays him when switched)
Crowley stops walking like Crowley after they (Met and Azi) leave ( He takes a few steps then starts to walk with less sway) then sees Muriel and is startled. (Becuase he was caught out of character?)
Crowley More sarcastic/unnecessarily cruel with Muriel (See swap in S1 Aziraphale plays Crowley as more sarcastic)
Crowley gives away a book (established earlier in season he would not however Azira gives away a Doctor Who Annual and allows Maggie and Nina to throw encyclapidias)
Gives Muriel the crow road. They said they want a book because books are like people but portable, He gave her a book about life, love, death and being human. And says "here you'll like this one" which comes off as a snarky remark (Or is this Azira breaking character to give a book recommendation because he just can't help himself?)
Crowley mentions seeing Maggie crying (only Azira saw this, and when he told Crowley the reason for helping her he did not mention it)
He says he was meddling because Nina needing saving the audience assumes they mean from her relationship but the ineffable idiots never found out about her relationship they would be talking about saving her from demons but that occured at the ball (Crowley tried to get them together before that so it doesn't make sense to say that's when he started meddling, but the ball is when Aziraphale started meddling)
Azira's voice in a higher register during scene (Azira's voice goes lower usually when upset or making a point (correcting Furfur, quieting fighting demons/angels, telling Shax they can't come in) Crowley's normally goes higher)
Azira has spent this season reflecting on the cruelty of heaven and his feelings for Crowley (sudden change from the rest of season does not have narrative flow)
Crowley has spent the season focused on protecting/saving
Opposite sides (through the season as they have changed focus the sides (Crowley on the left Azira on the right) have changed but now they are changed back. It seems normal but is still a juxtaposition from what we have seen in the season) IE in this season the person on the left is the one who wants their needs over the needs of humanity person on the right is the protector.
Azira has been reflecting on the cruelties of Heaven and would know Crowley does not want to go back (Crowley says so multiple times in s1) but looks surprised that he says no. (If they are switched Crowley would not know Azira has been reflecting on this and would be surprised the he said no)
Azira saying I can make a difference (the other angels have beat him down and shown him he can't so many times I doubt he believes that but Crowley does)
Azira specifies Crowley will be his second in command (there is no reason for him to specify this but if it is Crowley he is telling Azira that he is not up to anything and will answer to him)
Crowley says you are better than this (means very little unless it is the other way around Azira has spent the whole season reflecting on Crowley being better than heaven)
Crowley confessing does not move the narrative he has said all of that before in S1.
Crowley says you are always there for me (Crowley always saves Azira)
Crowley says they pretend not to be a team (Azira pretends they are not a team Crowley always says they are.)
The confession mirrors pride and prejudice, (aziraphale is loves with pride and prejudice.)
Crowley says if Belzebub/Gabriel can do it we can (Crowley suggest they running away together in S1 he already knew, Belz/Jim's story didn't change things but Azira can be seen in the background excited and reaching for Crowley when they confess this is when HE realized they could be together)
Azira is shocked Crowley is leaving (Every time they fight Crowley leaves until he calms down and comes back and Ariza waits, this is the normal dynamic so why is he suprised, if they are swapped it would be weird for Aziraphale to be upset and leaving especially in the wrong body)
Azira uses some of the same language Crowley used to convince him in last season. (Azira using Crowley's speech patterns)
Crowley has at least seen movies with kissing and would know not to kiss like it was a fight (if they are switched Azira is drawing from experience of their past for how he should kiss while still looking like Crowley and this looks like the scene where Crowley pushes Azira against the wall for calling him nice(Also that's probably been in his head for a minute))
Azira seems shocked but has been trying to work towards something like this all season (Crowley would be shocked)
Azira holding his lips and looking shocked (if they are switched Crowley not realizing that Azira was confessing but thought he was pretending to be Crowley did not realize until this moment)
After a fight Crowley always runs and Azira always waits (Crowley is waiting by the Bentley)
The Bentley can tell them apart and plays modern not bebop music and drives away slowly
After the credits roll Azira smiles and the smile doesn't look like how Azira smiles but it looks like Crow as Azira in the hell fire scene in S1
Neil gaiman repeats/forshadows earlier in this episode Azira is waiting for Crowley to save him from demons and Crowley comes back after because he left to go to heaven.
Neil repeats/ shell game mentioned multiple times they make similar movements in the intro
Crowley knows from the Gabriel docs that Armageddon 2 is in plan and would have a reason to go back to heaven Azira would not necessarily know this yet or have a reason to go back especially if he had already said he was not going.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Go Rush!! Episodes 104 Sub Release
Torrent
Support us on ko-fi
Please make sure to read the FAQ if you have any questions.
There are translation notes below, so spoilers ahead.
-------------------------------
Sabyuas' speech
So you may notice that a lot of what Sabyuas says kinda doesn't make sense! This is intentional and present in the original Japanese as well.
He doesn't say exactly what he means, but instead embellishes it to such a point that it's hard to understand what he actually means. For example, the line of dialogue about how he "observed" the ship whose people "lived outside of shadows" - it's just flowery speech for "I've never seen a non-Darkman before".
Same for "the silence was unable to be kept" - that just means "I couldn't help myself from making an appearance". He quite literally just speaks like this and it's a quirk I've chosen to keep since it's part of his character.
I've translated his words into English. Now you have to translate them into common sense! Translationception!
サ sa Sa
Sabyuas uses this as both his personal pronoun as well as a sentence prefix (where a pronoun would be unneeded/make no sense to put there).
I don't quite know how to handle this yet. For now, when he says Sa, I've kept it in the sentence since his bio also states that it's one of his quirks. I don't see a reason to change, but who knows.
キ ki 'Ya'
This is another of Sabyuas' weird speech quirks. Instead of addressing people by 君 (kimi), he instead says キ (ki). I tried to make it work in English as best I can.
I initially wanted to leave it as Y or Yu, but it was pointed out to me that people may mistake it for him saying 'Yuuhi' when he's not, so I made it 'Ya'.
Translating Sabyuas has been terrible...
ダークメン Darkmen
Thanks to this episode, we now know that "Darkmen" or "Darkman" is not actually the name of a person, but the name of an entire new species of... whatever they are. I can't say alien because Sabyuas' official bio (and Yuuhi's hair in-show) say that he doesn't quite seem like an actual alien.
Anyway, I will be switching between plural and singular as it makes sense for English. Japanese has no concept of a plural conjugation like English does (like ways to make words specify 1 or more, ie adding -s at the end of words), so they will keep referring to the species as Darkmen even if they only mean one of them.
Dark Matter
I just want to clarify that when Sabyuas is talking about how cards are letting him add "Dark Matters" back to hand, that's not actually what the cards say.
Sabyuas himself is twisting the card effect and says only Dark Matter, but the cards themselves say any DARK Galaxy.
Putting this here before we get people asking about if Rush is finally doing archetypes like OCG/TCG is. The answer is no.
-------------------------------
Font changes!
Season 3 has kicked off, so there's a couple things I'll be changing as the season goes on.
The fonts used up til now I decided to use back when the show first started and it fit the whimsical mood of Go Rush a lot more. Obviously Go Rush has grown a lot in that time, so I'm re-evaluating font choices for the series.
To start, in this episode:
Default: Rubik Medium -> Sephora Sans
Yuuhi (+Yuamu): Baloo 2 -> Pikolo Regular
There may be some other changes as characters come back or duel. Yuudias' font may be changing as well (I know he already had a duel, but).
Just a heads up!

Was thinking about this in regards to Ibis and Claudia - because as he says, he’s one of the most powerful Sky mages in history and given that he’s Zubeia’s chosen mage for the Sky Nexus, I’m inclined to believe him - but can also apply to “Viren and the Dragonguard” stuff I guess, which is to say:
Elves get bodied by dark mages because they have no practice fighting them.
This is something I remember reading meta about years ago in ATLA, but there’s an in-universe reason Aang wins just about every fight he picks, ultimately. Not only is he a very young and naturally talented (and hardworking) master airbender, but no one’s studied his bending form in a hundred years. Not a single firebender he comes up against has fought an airbender until then. Now, he doesn’t always win because of throwing blows (he loves to evade / avoid / dodge and does so very effectively, most  notably with Zhao) but he does escape most fights unscathed or victorious. That’s why losing at Ba Sing Se is such a big deal.
So you have elves, right, who
Outside of assassins, have little to no reason to venture into the human kingdoms.
Who largely refuse to use, never mind study, how dark magic works
We don’t know enough about either primal or dark magic to say so definitively, but it seems like dark magic can do things primal magic decidedly can’t (and vice versa on some level). We also know from both Viren and Claudia that, with access to it, that it’s common for dark mages to study all branches of magic, primal included, if they can.
The very first present day dark magic spell is also something we see that can hurt people but that which cannot be hurt back by blades (rendering Lain and Tiadrin’s and similar weapons automatically moot).
Tumblr media
It also speaks to Tiadrin’s exclamation when she sees Viren perform dark magic on Lain: “What are you doing to him?” Not stop what you’re doing to him, but what, like she’s never seen it before. And given that Claudia specifies “I have a dark magic thing-y that can literally steal your breath” in her bag in S4, it seems to be a dark magic specific spell, too.
Then there’s the fact there’s only eight Dragonguard in the first place. Presumably supposed to be two from each of the well known elven races, as Tidebound are recluse and Startouch too rare, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more Moonshadow or Earthblood guards compared to say, Sunfire (as they have loyalty to their own royal family first and foremost).
So discounting Lain and Tiadrin, that leaves six. I could picture one fleeing upon immediately seeing what was largely regarded as the most powerful creature in the entire world being turned to stone, especially when S4 also has Rex Igneous confirm Avizandum regularly took on and levelled human armies for fun. So we’re down to five. That means 2-3 died, with the remaining 3-2 respectively fleeing. I’m tempted to say two died, as Hendryr (skywing elf) says “All the others have already fled,” which indicates a majority of those remaining, even if it’s not all the dragonguard like those implied.
There being actual bodies at the Spire also helps explain why, beyond just good ol’ Moonshadow / Xadian “one strike and you’re out” system, they assumed Lain and Tiadrin had died. If they had stayed and fought, why wouldn’t their be bodies be there as well, after all?
It’s also worth noting that most mages, particularly dark mages, do better in long range formats. Viren only starts winning his fight with Lain and Tiadrin once he has some space from them. Most of Claudia’s most powerful spells (2x03 tentacle arm, 2x07 ballista shot, 3x09 bomb, bat wings spell) are used to work with distance and aim true, like a deadly archer. It’s not surprising to me that she, likewise, starts losing her fight with Ibis once it gets close range. We see this be more true of Callum in 3x09, where the height of the mountain and the high ground gives him useful range that he struggles to maintain when Kasef lunges at him. In season four we don’t get to see him really in combat, so maybe that’ll change in s5 onwards.
Basically; I have very little problem picturing Viren taking down 2-3 elven guards when they have no familiarity with fighting dark magic to begin with. If anything, it makes me wonder why the Dragonguard wasn’t a mostly mage force, or whether they thought they needed more security against fellow elves in general (mage or warrior) after all the Xadian focused unrest in the fallout of Queen Aditti’s life in general, than thinking humans would strike at the heart of Xadia in the first place

Post-Hoot for King’s Tide!
Let’s go over the lore (and some fun trivia I picked out) for the King’s Tide Post-Hoot!
Gus’ palisman is named Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo, after some Season 2 writers (presumably Emmy Cicierga, Madeleine Hernandez, John Bailey Owen, Zach Marcus, and Mikki Crisostomo)! She would’ve been named in Any Sport in a Storm but the line was cut out for time; When Gus says “My way is better!” he would’ve added, “Right Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo?” He calls her Emmiline for short… The original line took up TEN SECONDS of runtime, which is why they had to cut it out.
Dana mentioned that the in-between realm is “where all dreams form” and described it as a “cosmic glue”, presumably one that holds the worlds together and connects them! Hence the cubes allowing Luz to peer into the human and demon realms, and possibly the force that the Portal harnesses and relies upon to traverse! I wonder if this means that Titans themselves have a connection to this in-between, and if the in-between is ONLY between the human and demon realms, or at least not all of them by default, hence why travel is particularly easy and common with the Titan’s blood rifts, which can evidently sync up through the in-between; This may have been how the Titans accessed the in-between to seal away the Collector!
This one is really funny… When asked to name Lilith’s palisman, chat was split between Mike and Socks respectively; Can attest that Mike comes from a TOH server I’m a part of, and we’ve had that name for about a year… And it’s short for Mike Ass Fungus. And now it’s partially canon; Dana decided that Lilith would name her palisman something super-extravagant after some obscure historical figure, and Rebecca told us to check Dana’s twitter in a week or so for the final name. But so far it seems Dana is going to incorporate “Mike Socks” into the name of Lilith’s palisman; Probably making it short for the actual name itself!
Dana confirmed that Belos tried naming the other Grimwalkers names besides Hunter, but evidently he wasn’t the only one to have that name; And yes, Belos was totally the person to laugh at his own sick joke, naming Caleb’s clones after “witch hunter”. As she said, Belos is after something unattainable, even if his other goals were attained; And when she saw people calculating the low-balled numbers from Hollow Mind, she could only cringe knowing we had a BIG storm coming in the season finale…
Also this is just a sweet bit, but Dana reiterated that the other Grimwalkers aren’t failures in HER heart, despite what Kikimora says! She also said that a tragic backstory might happen but it doesn’t justify things, in regards to Kikimora, who she confirmed acted purely out of spite; So I wouldn’t hold your breath on a redemption arc!
Raeda is Dana’s OTP, Raine is one of her faves. Not much else to say here but like… For those Raeda fans who enjoy the validation!
Dana also reiterated that ALL members of the Emperor’s Coven have sigils. While Lilith hadn’t been brought up in the context of this, we know Rebecca was looking at different questions in the comments, so I assume this is what prompted that; So this points us towards Lilith having a sigil! Its absence may really just be an animation error, or it’s elsewhere on her body… I hope her sigil didn’t agitate the curse; But given what Eda said about Lilith not having hers as long, it probably didn’t react as severely and thus didn’t necessitate any amputations. This would track with Lilith still being able to summon an ice cube at the beginning of Season 2, compared to Eda who only had a crumbling spell circle.
Dana described Darius and Eberwolf as having a younger, older brother dynamic, although she didn’t specify which; Eber is the chaotic one, who always knows how to tick off Darius, but there’s a real bond and trust between the two. Eberwolf is referred to as He/Him by the crew, but Dana said she’s open to They/Them for Eberwolf as well! We would’ve indeed explored Darius more had Season 3 not been shortened.
In regards to neurodivergency in TOH, Dana said that she and the crew wanted to write with different mindsets and ways of thinking, drawing upon their own real-life experiences; She says she doesn’t quite have the language to express specifically, but she’s open. This kind of representation of people who are different but all have something to offer was indeed important to her; THAT much was intentional at least.
         Adrian Graye’s name is confirmed to be a reference to Dorian Gray! And speaking of which, we have some names on the Coven Heads, with Rebecca clarifying the spelling in a tweet (same for Gus’ palisman Emmiline);
Bard- Raine Whispers
Abomination- Darius Deamonne
Beastkeeping- Eberwolf the Huntsman
Plant- Terra Snapdragon
Illusion- Adrian Graye
Construction- Mason
Potion- Vitimir
Oracle- Osran
Healing- Hettie Cutburn
Dana explained that Darius’ surname is French, and that Mason, who we saw back in S1, actually got promoted since then to Construction Head; So he presumably wasn’t the first head of the Construction Coven, or at least wasn’t one at all until some time after Covention! According to Dana, they were figuring out the designs for the Coven Heads, and suddenly decided, you know what? Mason is promoted now, good for him! I guess Ulrich was a deleted concept for a name, a placeholder, or intended for some other chap who looked like Mason.
Hettie Cutburn is also a favorite of Dana and the crew’s; She said they would’ve explored her character more, had Season 3 not been shortened… Dammit.
Anyhow, I’m planning to get caught up on the previous post-hoots I missed out on (all of them), so if you see more and wonder why King’s Tide is out of order, this is why! This was the only post-hoot I watched all of, so I’m gonna go back and scour them for lore!
