Ladies, I have a movie recommendation. It's called 7 Women and a Murder, an Italian movie that came out in 2021.
This movie's got everything. Zany antics. A great color palette. Random bisexuality. A Joan Rivers look alike. Fucked up women with secrets. A makeover. Women eating ravenously. A twist ending that I genuinely didn't see coming. Men are only onscreen for a little bit at the beginning and the end. Some of the last lines are "Women should help one another, not wage war" "not even if a man asks you to?" "Especially if a man asks you to" and then the women decide to all live together.

Where is Subaru's apology video for characterizing Ram as lazy when in reality taking on HALF of the pain she's constantly in was enough to make him almost collapse? Show some fucking respect, if she can get up and clean a mansion, even sloppily, with that level of chronic pain+fatigue she's got more work ethic than the rest of the camp combined. We're not taking this from a guy who learned how to do chores at 18. Say sorry.

Y'know, I see a lot of people argue that like, Jay is ugly. Why does Jon like him? And I've made it clear I disagree, because, like, cmon:
That is OBJECTIVELY a handsome man, and I'm a lesbian, lmao.
But like. If he was. ... So?
I actually think it's pretty cool that DC was like, yeah, Superman fell in love with a guy who cuts his own hair with dull scissors and dresses like oscar the grouch. He's a little weird to look at, maybe he's not the most conventionally attractive dude, but SUPERMAN found him wonderful and wanted to kiss him on the mouth.
That's... great? Like that's great. There's no universe where that reading of the text isn't awesome and empowering. Queer love should transcend looks and social status, and a huge part of queerness is finding beauty in the 'odd', anyways.

Looking at a lot of Loustat shippers and how they view/talk about Louis, is making me think of the BtVS fandom, the first fandom I joined when I was 16/17.
Anyway, a lot of the Spuffy shippers were out there calling Buffy derogatory names, saying SHE was the actual abusive one in the relationship, writing the most vile essays/fanfiction about her needing to be brought down a peg and admit she was wrong and Spike was right, saying the show was boring without Spike, despite Buffy being the main character, could not talk about Buffy as a character separate from Spike, propping up James's acting skills over Sarah's, made it sound like Spike was a better parent to Dawn than Buffy was (?), saying that the other men she was in romantic relationships with were much more abusive than Spike, excusing Spike for basically all of his actions and woobifying him because of his trauma....
and then you'd have the more critical Spuffy/non-Spuffy shippers (mainly woc) pointing out the blatant misogyny and victim-blaming in this way of thinking, pointing out how Spike represents some of the worst aspects of racism and the patriarchy, both textually and subtextually, even providing scholarly articles and literature to back up their claims, and asking why do you even ship Spuffy if you hate Buffy? Which of course received extreme backlash and harassment from people racing to defend Spike themselves, saying, no of course they didn't hate Buffy, but Spike is more complex than you're making him sound, and no he's not a racist or hates women, he's actually a feminist and a punk/anarchist and doesn't kill based on race, you're just a vile sjw and an anti who loves ruining everyone else's fun.
Anyway. Why do you even ship Loustat if you hate Louis?

so as a former employee of RMS Titanic Inc, I have some thoughts I need to get out about this whole current situation, or I will literally explode.
for context, I worked for RMST Inc. for a year and a half as a tour guide and artifact specialist. The company owns the salvage rights to the wreck site, and partners with Oceangate and other companies to retrieve artifacts. the artifacts are used for educational purposes only, in the museum that I worked at, although they weren’t above selling little bits of coal from the Titanic in stupid little tchotchkes like snowglobes and hourglasses.
i dedicated so much of my life and passion to that company and that museum and was treated like absolute dirt lol. and I didn’t even get the worst of it, I had friends and coworkers whose safety and wellbeing was consistently disregarded for the sake of profit, fighting desperately for corporate to stop pretending to care about the legacy of Titanic when all they really cared about was making money
so despite my initial shock at reading about what was going on with the missing submersible, I can’t say I’m surprised. This is what fucking happens when you cut corners and put profit over everything else. If only there was some big historical event that we could look to that would show us just exactly how dangerous that can be... oh wait.
Jack Thayer, who was 17 when he survived Titanic, said that “the world woke up on April 15, 1912″, which pretty much sums up how SURE people were in 1912 that they would never make those same mistakes again. They realized had gotten complacent and swore things would be different. They enacted safety laws, pointed fingers at survivors, created conspiracy theories to try to explain what happened, all out of fear of it happening again. And yet, history always repeats itself
and now people are fucking OBSESSED with the Titanic, they find it fascinating, they won’t fucking leave it alone, and the company I worked for, and Oceangate, and others, capitalize on that because they’re greedy and want to make money off of it. all they care about is how to profit off of it. they PRETEND to care about Titanic but they don’t. They never did.
I also actually have a personal connection to one of the five members of the team in the submersible. I met P.H. Nargeolet at the event our museum did commemorating the 110th anniversary of the sinking, I spoke to him and heard firsthand some of his accounts of dives to the wreck site, I even took a picture with him. He cared, he cared so much about Titanic and its legacy, and so do I and so did so many of my friends I worked with. The company we worked for took advantage of our caring, it took advantage of how passionate we were about it in order to line its executives’ fucking pocket
I’m horrified, I’m devastated, I’m vindicated.
on the one hand, I hope this ruins them. i want to watch the company die. there’s a satisfaction in that. but the shitty thing is how much suffering has to happen for things to change. i just wish good people didn’t have to die to make change happen. I wish people cared first, before tragedy strikes. I wish our world wasn’t so fucked up and shit like this didn’t happen. But it did. And it does. And money won’t save any of those people any more than it saved John Jacob Astor or Benjamin Guggenheim, or any of the other rich greedy assholes who died on Titanic. I’m not celebrating their deaths. But I won’t ever forget who suffers the most. The coal trimmers and the stewards and the minimum wage guest service associates at the museum I worked at.
I’m glad I don’t work there anymore. But some of my best friends still do. And I don’t want them to suffer more because of this. All I can hope is that it enacts meaningful change that actually lasts. But I know that’s just wishful thinking.

Yeah, I see people saying Essek's comment was flirting, but I'm like, 'Essek's demi, and him and Dorian barely talked'
I didn’t personally see the heartbreaker comment as particularly flirtatious, or at least not a serious flirtation. I don’t think Essek has a crush on Dorian or Dorian’s going to get absorbed into Caleb and Essek’s relationship or anything. It seems like Essek was just saying, “hey you’re handsome and charming.” I am demi/gray-romantic and extremely asexual, and there are people I think are handsome and beautiful and charming without any real attraction attached to that (see: the entire critical role cast).
but yeah I mean, fandom’s gonna fandom whaddya gonna do. I don’t think everyone—or even most people—are being necessarily dismissive of Essek’s demisexuality by doing eyebrow wiggles at the prospect of dorian/essek (/caleb), but I also get the feeling of frustration because tbh I’ve had similar frustrations with a number of essek/shadowgast fan stuff since I got here.
But really, if it bothers you, don’t engage. I have so many terms and tags blocked because I know I can get sensitive about things, especially about ace topics, especially as they pertain to essek and shadowgast. I do my best to avoid stuff that upsets me, and I recommend you do that too. Much easier said than done, but better than not trying at all.

One of my favourite little details in Dungeon Meshi is the term "tall men," instead of using the term "humans" for Laios/Falin/Shuro/etc. I love that they get their own special name just like half foots and dwarves and elves. It really highlights that they’re just one type of human instead of being the “default” and I find that very very fun.
