before i start, i want to let everyone know that i am bi and as a bisexual, i notice uzi seems bi coded to me. not sure if any other bisexuals notice or think the same, but these are my thoughts and my perspective

• bi lighting

bisexual lighting are used where bisexual characters are portrayed under the colors of pink, purple and blue to show they’re bisexual

uzi is in a lot of bi lighting, not only once but many times. i take bi lighting very seriously bc it’s not that the lights are bisexuals themselves but it is to show and portray bi characters (there’s more than these but i can’t add more images)

in the knife fight scene from nuzi, the lights are all colorful and flashy, but the moment they had their personal talk, it stopped to a specific color (pink, purple, and blue). when n throwed uzi, the colors went back to being colorful and flashy

in ep 6, when the sentinels flashed at nuzi, you can see there is pink, purple and blue (i can only add one video so when you go rewatch the scene, you will get what i mean). the colors from the sentinals eyes and flash is like blue/white, and notice that there isn’t any pink and purple when looking around. there’s a ss of a sentinals flashing the light towards the audience

which should’ve been the same when flashing towards nuzi but it didn’t, pink, purple and blue appeared. i could also say n is also under those bi lighting bc bi lighting appeared when they’re together, so he seems bi coded to me as well.

• attraction

now, i know ppl will say “but we don’t see uzi blushing to any women characters” not every bi characters have too. bi characters can be confirmed bi and that’s it, it’s still a rep. bi ppl don’t have to date/blush ppl of every single gender to be bi and this happens to canonical bi characters too (luz, marceline, sasha) about how it’s not enough for ppl. it’s always bi characters having to “prove” or not “bi enough” for ppl to accept them as bisexual. mind you, hunter from the owl house is confirmed bi and we don’t see him blushing or dating any guys, however, have a bi patch on his jacket and bi colors from dana’s art. sasha from amphibia only have a bi sticker and is confirmed bi. this can happen the same with uzi (and n) by the lighting and uzi seems to have men/masculine preference. “i don’t feel any sapphic vibes from her” is being bi not sapphic to you? even if bisexuals date the opposite gender, it does not take away being wlw/nblw. bisexuals are still sapphic no matter who we date bc sexuality is about attraction and not dating history. i really need ppl to get rid of that biphobic mindset that bisexual ppl (including characters in media) needs to “prove” themselves that they are bi. most of you don’t even understand bisexuality at all.

we only have 6 episodes and s1 is still not over so don’t expect this to be long. anyway, uzi is bi with men/masculine preference and n is also bi, so nuzi is bi4bi (we need more bi4bi in media). i don’t want ppl to use uzi as a robot as an excuse to be biphobic. “uzi is binary code, her love interest in male, etc.” this is a series called murder drones, all drones have personality, have thoughts, feelings, families, etc. uzi grew WINGS and TAIL, so why can’t she be bi? and n is her love interest but it doesn’t mean she can’t be bisexual. again, bisexuals don’t have to prove to date the same gender to be bi. what’s funny is ppl think she can’t be bi and yet, assume she’s straight (when she has no confirmed sexuality) bc ppl see straight as a default.

2022 Favourites

In no particular order. This is content I've read and watched in 2022, not necessarily content released in 2022.

Books

1. A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland: m/m heroic fantasy + non-binary characters. This was one of my most expected novels of the year and I was fully satisfied with the result. One of the protagonists suffers from severe anxiety.

2. [French] L’Héritage des Rois-Passeurs by Manon Fargetton: portal fantasy with a lesbian protagonist. The French language in the secondary world is different, but I don't know if the author invented the variations or based them on something real.

3. Sword Dance by AJ Demas: m/nb historical fantasy. This trilogy takes place in a fictional world based on Ancient Greece. It's a delightful mix of intrigue and domesticity shenanigans.

4. The Hollow Star Saga by Ashley Shuttleworth: f/f and m/m urban fantasy (YA). This series about the fae also includes a touch of Greek mythology. I care a lot about all the characters.

5. Youngblood by Sasha Laurens: f/f urban fantasy (YA). This is my favourite queer vampire novel. It's an excellent mix of vampire lore, romance and mystery.

6. The Magic Between by Stephanie Hoyt: m/m magical realism. The characters have superpowers, but it's not superhero fiction. It's a fun bi4bi romance.

7. One Verse Multi by Sander Santiago: m/m/m science fiction with a trans male protagonist. This is my favourite read of the year. I loved the science in this story and how the author played with the Mandela effect (false memories shared by many people).

8. Safe and Sound by EM Lindsey: m/m romance. This is a very moving hurt & comfort novel. This author always does a great job with the intersectionality of queerness and disability, deafness and vertigo in this case.

9. If You Still Recognise Me by Cynthia So: f/f romance. This novel is about identity (queer, but also British and Cantonese) and fandom.

10. [Spanish] Anne sin Filtros by Iria Parente and Selene Pascual: f/f/m romance with a trans male protagonist (YA). This novel is also about queerness and fandom. I've read several books by these authors and this is my fave.

 TV shows

1. Ancient Detective: murder mystery/wuxia with BL vibes + a non-binary character in the last few episodes. While this c-drama is mostly m/f, I appreciated the queer touches, as well as the complex plot.

2. Legend of Yunze: GL wuxia. This c-drama is a quick watch, with episodes that are only a few minutes long. What's nice is that the f/f is not very censored for a Chinese show.

3. The Lost Tomb/DMBJ franchise: adventure/fantasy with BL vibes. This c-drama franchise kept me busy for a good part of the year and I estimate that I've seen about half of it. It covers a genre that is relatively rare in Western shows.

4. Bulgasal: urban fantasy with a queer-coded villain. Sure, queer-coded villains aren't the best form of representation, but the one in this k-drama is very well-written. The reincarnation plot is fascinating as well.

5. Vampire Academy: urban fantasy with some f/f and some m/m (YA). I loved the movie way back and I'm glad that they've added queer representation to the show, even though it would have been even better if they had made the Lissa/Rose subtext canon.

6. Wednesday: murder mystery/urban fantasy with a probably a-spec protagonist (YA). This is a delightful adaptation of the Addams Family, true to the old movies.

7. Love in the Air: BL romance. This addictive Thai drama is my favourite show of the year. Payu/Rain are my fave couple, they're so playful and loving. For Prapai/Sky, there's a lot of hurt & comfort, which gave me so many feels.

8. Semantic Error: BL romance. This k-drama's protagonist is on the autism spectrum. It's enemies-to-lovers, or rather annoyances-to-lovers.

9. She Makes My Heart Flutter: GL romance. This k-drama is a quick watch. I love that it mostly focuses on sapphic friendships.

10. Heartstopper: m/m romance with some f/f and a trans girl (YA). I love the webcomic and the adaptation is really well done. It's such a sweet story.

L can play piano and misa is obsessed with it. sometimes they play together and/or misa writes songs for him to play

they’re bi4bi, i will NOT be taking criticism

when they get married, they have a small private wedding at wammy’s with a few close friends. misa has a blast picking out decorations, flowers, and everything and L loves it

misa’s been in a lot of relationships before meeting L, but this is her first healthy one. L helps her undo the harmful mindset she’s been given by the other people she’s dated *cough, cough* light

they spoil each other SO MUCH on valentine’s day. L always spoils misa in general but they would go all out

misa helps L get into much healthier habits than he has before. the biggest example being that they start to take baths together (not sexually) and wash each others hair 🥺🥺🥺 this is just my excuse to not have to deal with the human washing machine lmao

because misa canonically has a cat, i love to think of L either getting along with it as well as a disney princess gets along with woodland creatures OR the cat just hating him for literally no reason lmao. think suzaku and arthur from code geass. i just like to project them onto suzaeuphy

It is very wrong of you to assume that Eddissy shippers aren’t queer too. In fact the vast majority of Eddissy shippers are lgbt+ and see Eddie x Chrissy as a bi4bi relationship. They’re not ignoring the queerness of Eddie. In fact it’s Steddies who will happily erase Eddie’s bisexuality. Bisexual erasure is so harmful and alienates bisexuals who already feel like outcasts in the community. It falls into the stereotype that bisexual men are just secretly gay men who just haven’t come out yet which is so wrong. Canonically, Eddie had a crush on Chrissy. He’s had a crush on Chrissy for a long time. Joseph said there was a potential for romance between them and to erase that or to ignore that is to say that Joseph is a bad actor because his intent didn’t come across. Joseph hasn’t said anything but ‘people can dream, I guess’ about Steddie. Yet, Eddissy shippers don’t ignore the potential for Eddie to be bisexual. Bisexual men can still participate in the hanky code and can be into BDSM (even though the costume department already explained that Eddie was using the handcuffs to add accessories to his outfits and the hanky in his back pocket is about following the fashion of metal bands) (You are also giving the Duffers and writers way too much credit when they forgot Will’s birthday). If Eddie is lgbt+ then he falls under the bisexual umbrella. Please don’t be part of or participate in the group of people trying to silence Eddissy shippers by calling us all straight or cisgender, it’s hurtful.

again with sentinels, their eyes are blue/white and it would’ve flashed to those colors when they flashed on nuzi, but instead pink,purple and blue appeared. those colors usually appears when nuzi are together and how the first one flashing to the audience would’ve been like that on nuzi, but didn’t

• attraction

i received biphobic replies on twitter from my uzi tweet which is very upsetting to see ppl not understanding about the attraction part when i explained on it. ppl still bringing up “uzi doesn’t show attraction to any women” and “uzi have no good relationship with women so therefore she can’t be bi.” uzi doesn’t have to show attraction to the same gender. not every bi characters have too (either same, opposite or other gender). also, no good relationship with any gender ≠ no attraction, we can have bad experiences with any gender and still be attracted to them. uzi have bad experiences with both men AND women until n, thad and v (warmed up to her) came along.

now with n, we know his love interest is uzi but he does show attraction to men by ep 2 when he gave the guy an apology drawing note. he first look at the guy hanging the apology on the door and blushed, but then he looked straight down at him and he is STILL blushing

i really don’t want anyone to use n and uzi are robots as an excuse to be biphobic. robots in md are nowhere close to resembling actual robots. the drones have hair, feelings, personalities, etc. they are sentient. why is it any different of them having sexualities?? let’s not forget about lizzy and v. so i don’t want to hear any “n and uzi are binary code.” anyway, n and uzi are bisexuals and we need more bi4bi in media
