I dont play around with the lines and shapes usually because when i do the lines looked all gross because of the pixel style, and i swear to god its infecting the way i draw him normally. I DONT WANT him to look rigid!!! Hes blocky yeah and hes been puppetified but i save the rigid hollow look for NEO... thats on purpose. I dont want him to look like that regularly though :-( I want his shapes and i keep accidentally making them stiff and boring in an attempt at consistency.. but i can be consistent without that. And i know that. Because i literally have been. His teeth especially kick my ass, theyre sometimes way too disporportionally big or too tapered... and i dont ever like,, play with the shapes they can do. i dont have to follow realistic logic because hes not real obv. I can use cartoon logic for him especially because hes that type of guy. You guys probably have no clue what im talking about lmfao it probably looks the same. Ggrrrgghhhhrghh. I am genuinely contemplating switching it up to either a larger canvas size again or just.. not making spam himself pixely. I still do like the pixel look because i wanted it to mimic the shop sprites and i think thats also a really unique feature of the askbox but... idfk. Lucky being an immortal that loved the mortals and was loved back. She never cared much for grand displays or offerings, so little was actually known about her

Many people praised the same god without knowing, having their own interpretations of Lucky. Unfortunately, this also caused misunderstandings, believing that their god was superior when theyre LITERALLY PRAISING THE SAME GUY

Heartbroken by his followers turning against each other, he went down to the mortal realm to try and sort it out, which wasn't allowed and risked the loss of your immortal status

It did not work lawl. Because Qi Shiyi, another immortal, was sent down to correct Lucky's wrongdoings. By that, she was the one to dish out her punishment. I love doomed yuri ❤️

Qi Shiyi and Lucky met on the battlefield. Lucky, knowing what she came here to do, accepted his punishment.

Qi Shiyi was originally going to just bring him back, but Lucky loved his people too much to leave them and asked to be stripped of his immortality instead

Reluctantly, Qi Shiyi did as she asked and accompanied Lucky in the battlefield to help resolve the war, since it was greatly affecting other immortals too

FAST FORWARD TO HOW MANY CENTURIES LATER!!!

Many myths and legends were made about Lucky's story, of course with different variations. But all of them ended the same: with him in the arms of an unknown immortal as he took his last breath

Edgar Valden, a rising painter, got a job at a museum that wanted to use the different texts about Lucky to (hopefully) create a more accurate depiction of him

At first Edgar did NOT want to take this job, past is past or whatever, and the curator has fired multiple painters before. She was said to be a strict woman, who dedicated her whole life to preserving whatever was left about Lucky.

But the more Edgar read about Lucky the more he became enamored with him

It's silly, to have fallen in love with a myth. But the vision of Lucky that Edgar created in his mind had completely consumed him, and he obsessed over every word, every single detail he could get about the unlucky immortal

The curator of the museum would come visit sometimes to check on his progress, as well as choose which of his paintings would be included.

She often ordered Edgar to change certain parts of his piece or redo it entirely. Edgar complained about it at first, until he realized that this gave him a chance to become "closer" to Lucky

He wants his painting of Lucky to become his ultimate masterpiece. His magnum opus.

But for some reason, the curator was never satsfied with Edgar's works. Sending back each piece with harsh criticism, and making Edgar fall further down his obsession

He needed more. More about Lucky. The texts the museum supplied him with wasn't enough. So he did his own research

Edgar came up emptyhanded, and went to the curator to see if she had any more about him. She acted defensive for some reason, but eventually, after seeing how dedicated Edgar was, let him see texts that she collected and kept private from the public

For some reason, these texts were a bit too...personal?? There were letters between Lucky and the immortal (at least Edgar assumed it was them) that was with her in her last moments, scripts of characters that were written over and over again, as if the writer couldn't differentiate one from the other

But hey!! Who was Edgar to complain? He ate it all up and used it as inspiration and motivation to finish his piece

When Edgar presented his final canvas to the curator, she went pale before ordering that it would be presented in the museum as the main piece, the rest of Edgar's paintings included as well even though she rejected them before

Finally, Lucky's gallery was open to the public. Many people far and wide came to visit and admire Edgar's paintings.

One of them happened to be a young man named August, or as his friends liked to call him, Lucky.

hey not weird at all! triptracks very literal, theyre on a trip and multiple people are tracking them down & thats all ahah

paperteeth made more sense in the pre canvas version of paperteeth in which a character called avery (who is not the same as avery grey theyre different characters they just have the same name and aesthetic bc im lazy/ i could go on and on abt why putting avery1 in the role of mc was a bad idea and why that characters returned to a side character if they even still exist at all) who used to be a vampire hunter returns to work at a vampire hunting organisation to do their paperwork. shenanigans didnt ensue bc it lasted 6 pages before i decided to overhaul it with new characters, plot etc. theyre not very alike at all, only chars that cross over are alderich. anyway now its more so omg no these teeth r just paper.. but it doesnt rly have much meaning compared to before (should probably have given paperteeth a different name lol)

canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?

Du Vide, unless im misremembering, is my only oc with tattoos. They span his entire body, neck to toes, and he did them himself, sewing needle stick n' poke style. I doubt he'd have trusted any one else to ink them.

Since du vide is an upcoming ttrpg character and my fellow players follow me i wont go into detail regarding why he has them by he definitely has them for a reason, relating to his work in experimental machinery/technology. Any good mad scientist tests things on themselves first, obviously.

As for covered up or not, he doesn't make any real effort either way, due to the size of the tattoos. he's usually pretty covered, but he doesn't care if they get seen, theyre not secret. as for why they don't show up in the art usually is because i hate drawing them. weeps

wardrobe: How big is your character's wardrobe? Do they wear things threadbare, or can they afford new clothes often? Are they any good at mending and repairing their own clothing?

Courtland is a notable character wardrobe-wise because i designed him to be so unredrawable due to my madness

Courtland's wardrobe is relatively large but most of his clothes look the same. The clothes he's wearing up there are his work uniform, so it's what he's usually wearing day to day with a few changes.

however he does have other clothes in line with what you'd expect from an aristocrat, like day clothes, outing clothes, outrageous party clothes, etc. Courtland's got *very* extravagant party clothes. he doesn't get the opportunity to wear them often and isn't very fond of them anyway.

as for when his clothes get fucked up, he's very good at repair. sewing and the like is one of his favorite hobbies!

when it comes to AUs, the one i end up landing on a lot for the earthshakers is the classic "what if it all never happened"/"what if they lived"

theres exactly one post on here (or the art blog i dont remember) explaining what the deal is with purgatory so heres a quick rundown: In the spaces between realities exists a vast, wild, metaphysical plane referred to occasionally as purgatory, which is a roiling melting pot that chews people up and spits them out as fantastic monsters. getting there is extremely difficult, but the hands down easiest way is to die, and fall through a weakness or crack in your reality when transitioning from life to afterlife.

Since the creatures in purgatory are always changing to suit their needs and there is no true ceiling for what can happen to you, occasionally a particularly strong-willed individual will grab unmatched, omnipotent power and become something called an earthshaker, the highest most feared echelon of purgatorian life. not gods, but damn well close. The earthshakers i've designed are Wellium (aka Lux, or the White Light), Videns, and Seleen.

(psa: this is a creative project? headworld? thing? ive been working on for literally upwards of 6-7 years now. I consider it my special interest, but its kind of nebulous and wordy and i get Too Excited about it so i end up rotating it around in my head a lot instead of talking about it)

Each of the three come from wildly different places/settings, and each has a grisly death, leading to their conquering of the endless voidplane. It's a fun thought to think about, about where they'd be if they just never died at all.

Wellium was once a soldier, a test tube baby/experimental weapon used in an intergalatic war. Eventually after a life of training to kill the unfamiliar, her life was considered inconsequential enough to be selected to guide and activate an experimental bomb to attempt to wipe out their enemy. Videns was a child born with select supernatural powers, and out of fear and superstition was drowned in a river by a mob of villagers after a life of living on the run. Seleen, a magician, was born with too much magic, and died when her body couldn't handle the strain anymore.

like. Videns could have found a place where she couldve flourished and been accepted. Seleen couldve pursued other paths in life instead of obsessing over her own impeding death and the use of the very thing that doomed her. Wellium couldve gone home.

their deaths are tragic, but theyre what set them on the path to kinghood and make them the creatures they are now. however, due to the way their universes work, there are realities where they did live, and lived full lives. got the chances to become people. its fun to think about!

finally took off the limiters (read: plugged in my tablet instead of just drawing on my phone) so i got to use layers and select tool and an actually workable canvas size so i started with hc/design stuff for the captain. chickenscratch transcriptions and elaboration under the cut. (this old agent 3/captain's name is typhoon and they use they/he!)

it is once again a late-night drawing/posting moment where im choosing to post immediately instead of potentially just not releasing anything bc i got cold feet after waking up the morning after. i'm making an effort to make sense but if anything is not comprehensible or you just want more details, the ask box is open. i'd love to talk about what ive got for any of my characters so far! moving along in about the order i drew/wrote things in, let's start here

i started off drawing them doing The Thing that is captain's idle pose for the majority of the game but i didnt like the first sketch so i was like "okay i want a Good line of action and then im gonna build around that" and this is what came of it. they just like extremely twisted around and would absolutely be destroying their spine if they had one bc that was just the flow of the sketch apparently. i was gonna also color this but i didnt really like how it was going and i started losing the details of the pose the longer i went (i dont really like how the look of the clothes came out and it probably shows) so i just kind of left it.

ive been doing a lot of jumping around fleshing out my splatoon ocs (which currently consists primarily of my agents) and like essentially reentering my splatoon mind. to start with, each of my player agent ocs were on some level self-inserts of differing amounts (i mean theyre literally like. inkfish you to a certain extent. like in many respects theyre pretty much blank slates by design (or lack thereof as promo material just uses one of the default options which are by no means mandatory given the whole player settings screen existing and yknow. being acknowledged. you get it right)) but by now they're pretty separate. there are some more overarching themes to them though that im keeping in, like a sort of longing for identity in the transition from teenager to adult where others seem to be more realized. if that makes sense. finding and wrangling with one's senses of identity and purpose so far is a thing for all of these guys. gee i wonder where that came from. anyways the thought i had to like cut out for flow is actually not going to be that great to do that to bc i was thinking i'd segue into that but i didnt like this next part is more of a design thought

¹my current working hc which informs the designs of my splatoon ocs so far includes the idea that ear shape is something that can vary not just from person to person but also with age and that the thinner, pointed, more traditionally "elf-like" ear (seen in the squid sisters, grandpa cuttlefish, and frye, as examples) might be more common the older an inkling is, compared to the blunter, more equilateral triangle-ish shape from the younger player inklings and others. of importance, this isn't hard and fast, not even to typhoon's design, as i can also very easily come back to it later and be like "hm. yeah i dont actually feel like doing this for them", but i was thinking about the ear shape from that inkling development chart from however many years ago and was like .. okay actually i don't remember what i thought in detail im really about to conk out honestly. but for example, dallas (my agent 4), who's just 2 years younger doesn't have the elf-y ears either (well hes not supposed to, but i dont think it really showed last post 💀) because that's just not how his ears look or will look (likewise for a less fleshed out non-agent character who is also an inkling and of a similar age). not to mention, of course, the many band members who are inklings with the triangular ears, as the idea is again that the elf-ear look becomes More common with age, not that it Is common immediately. even still, though, typhoon's ears arent the exact same shape as callie and marie's either, but more sort of in between them and the player inklings. all this to say, my goal is in part to have some variety more particular to splatoon than just general humanoid frame things outside of the hairstyles bc thats something that i have struggled with and so as it stands im basically tossing things at the wall to see what sticks and either working from there or tearing it all down and starting over.

anyways i like to also draw typhoon's tentacles down. the shapes are fun. sometimes they want them away from their face but sometimes they don't care

i dont know why i started going pokedex mode there but i do know it was before 1am when i wrote that. i have a Bunch of shit written down in various places (personally. i don't have very much more than the barest introductory stuff up yet bc of the fact that im still ironing out a bunch of these things) and it was at this point that i realized i cant really distill it into notes but i'll explain a little bit. splatoon 1 was huge for me as a budding artist and someone like. beginning to actually Think about things? it was the first thing i really found myself world-building with, it was a huge factor in me having realizations about myself, and even if retroactively so (after all, taunt parties were a thing in brawl and i played the shit out of that), got me thinking about video game communication and (likely not the right term) pseudo-languages and a whole bunch of other things. some of these don't directly relate to typhoon's development but what does relate to it is .. oh the train of thought literally disappeared actually. uh.

the thing that i dont get about digital art / AI comparisons (saying theyre both "cheating" in the same way, which ive seen a few times from both pro-AI and anti-AI people) is that in AI the only input is like... the text. it doesnt just make things easier or faster, it completely removes your creative control over a piece and automates the entire process. it's like... typing your essay out on google docs (easier and faster than writing by hand, you have access to spell check and dont need to erase or scribble out words you want to remove, formatting is much easier, etc) vs just inputting a prompt into chatGPT. do you understand the comparison im making here? it's literally the exact same concept, except i've never seen someone say that typing your essay on a laptop is cheating because "it's easier which makes you lazy and not a REAL writer, you're the same as the people trying to pass of chatGPT as their own writing".

also, if we're going there... all of the "cheats" you can do with digital art are entirely possible in traditional art (minus stuff like animation which are absolute HELL to do traditionally, especially 3d animation, but that's besides the point). so i don't even get the art-purist "you-can't-call-yourself-a-true-artist" pretentious argument here. YES, traditional art takes longer and costs more to make (you can buy a tablet once for 200 dollars, and connect it to a laptop which most people already have (or just use your phone/tablet which is even cheaper), and then have that be your only expense for YEARS except for replacement pen nibs and cables. meanwhile, sketchbooks are expensive and you need to constantly buy them, colored pencils are expensive if you're serious about it because you need a lot of different colors, paintings are on another level when it comes to materials cost, etc). i genuinely respect traditional artists since that shit is tedious. HOWEVER... saying that digital art is "cheating" kind of reveals to me that you're just unaware of all the potential "cheats" in traditional art. yes, theres some skills you need to learn, like coloring evenly with colored pencils or alcohol markers, or learning brush techniques and blending, color mixing, color matching, taking good photos of your art if you are someone who wants to post on social media, but there are ALSO unique skills you need to learn in digital art, such as managing layer types, learning to disconnect your eyes / hand (if you don't have a screen tablet), optimizing the image for digital viewing, color choosing (WAY HARDER TO DO DIGITALLY THAN TRADITIONALLY). they're equivalent in this way.

however... layering? use a light box and separate your sketch and coloring / lineart layers. undo? use a light box. quickly change colors? plan ahead better. physically paint over part of the piece. want to make multiple colored versions of a piece? cut out a lino block and use different colored ink to make prints. scan the drawing, print out more and color over them. tracing? fucking put the piece of paper over your laptop screen and trace it (we were expected to do this for practice in my high school art classes). mirroring / "flipping the canvas"? hold drawing up to mirror. if youre drawing on paper, hold it up to the sun or use a light box and flip it. symmetry? you can buy tools for this in which you hold a physical mirror up to half of your drawing and trace the reflection. we also used these in art class. you can also use tracing paper for this- it's my preferred method for making symmetrical traditional art, and for redrawing parts of a sketch / full piece that i want to move around or replace. color picking? any method you use digitally you can also use traditionally. the only trouble is IMPLEMENTING said colors in a full piece... but you also have to do that digitally. the biggest hurdle in color picking for traditional art is just... not having the resources to create a certain color easily, but that's a "can't afford a lot of paints / colored pencils / markers" issue, not necessarily a skill issue. even photobashing reference images or rearranging a piece is possible traditionally if you like... cut the sketch out and rearrange it physically before tracing over it, or physically making a reference with the same method. it is not hard and i have done this traditionally before. you can also use tracing paper for this. line stabilization is the only thing i've seen that's actually unique to digital art, but you can mimic this in traditional art by just... weighing down your art tool or having to redo the lineart a few times with the light box method (time consuming, yes, but not necessarily skillful. it just takes longer if you're bad at it, but the SAME results are possible). different layer types? just do the "math" in your head and figure it out. ive literally mimicked multiply layers before without actually using a multiply layer just to see if i COULD, and the results were the same. the only fully 100% true comparison i've seen is that stuff like AI-generated coloring and shading applied to digital art are "cheating" but that's... not digital art at that point... you're just making an argument again AI specifically because they are separate... it's closer to someone recreating an AI image themselves, or editing an AI image to make it look more realistic, which are, again, separate topics. also you can literally shade and fix traditional art with AI too if you take good enough photos of your art so this isn't even really a good argument against digital art specifically, it's an AI issue.

the only argument i see that makes sense is that traditional art, digital art, CGI animation, and AI art are all their own mediums that all require different skill sets (though i'd argue that traditional art and digital art are much more similar to each other in what skills you need than any of them are to AI art, but whatever). which i honestly kind of agree with? or i would is AI art was more ethical and not used in really dumb ways. but i personally think the AI slop is ugly, and my main gripe with it is that people try to "trick" others into believing AI art is real art by refusing to label it, or even labeling it maliciously incorrectly by naming fake artists as a credit for the image. you can't really do this with digital art since it's... pretty obvious when someone is creating something digitally. you know exactly what you're getting.

i think its fine if you want to say that traditional art is better or that you respect it more, because you're allowed your own opinion (even if i think you should at least experience drawing digitally before making a snap judgment). but its not "cheating" and its certainly not comparable to AI

genuinely wondering if id like slugcats as much if they werent from rain world. its kinda funny bc theyre quite literally the definition of a blank canvas. you can shape them almost any way you want, so long as it has a worm body+tail, short muzzle and big eyes, plus the nubby ears thats all you need

it kind of dawned on me because you can replace slugcat's tail with a lightning bolt and you get almost the same creature as pikachu. its a fun kind of simpleness but still somehow unique enough despite that? well technically all animals are like that if you stylize them enough..

i didnt answer this ask yesterday, im sorry...

okay, so. when i paint with oils and acrylics, i often incorporate different materials as well to add extra texture to my paintings. i like to just... go to a hardware store and buy stuff there. ive tried many different materials, and through trial and error found those that are effective and cheap

main one for me is, acrylic caulk. it is paintable, and unlike many materials commonly used for putting rough+thick texture underneath paint, its elastic when dry, and thats very important when you paint on a canvas, because otherwise you just end up with stuff crackling and falling out. it's very durable. and it's very easy to mold into all kinds of shapes, and you can put down a very thick layer. with the nozzle you can get these stringy effects. i use it for stuff like this (details)

its main downsides i would say, are that because it's smooth, if you didnt thoroughly prime your canvas, the difference between it and the fabric is going to be very stark, seen through the paint; as well as the fact that if you put down a very thick layer of it, it can retain some stickyness when compressed, for example if you store your paintings in a way where theyre touching each other. for this reason and just because it makes everything look better, cover it with a layer of, preferably acrylic paint, in a neutral color that works with your project, before you start painting on it proper.

now.... sometimes its a good idea to just stick random stuff to your painting. now there are very lightweight/flat stuff you can attach: crumpled up paper towels (not toilet paper! paper towels dont fall apart with moisture), small pieces of string, dry leaves, scraps of fabric, and such. and how you do it is simply soak it up a little, then soak it in acrylic paint, and then put it on the canvas where you want it, and then smooth it in with a brush loaded with acrylic paint, basically locking it in place by painting over it. you see, it is easy and fun:

as for a llittle bigger objects: crumpled up fabric, stems and sticks, thicker string, various pieces of something, well you're going to glue them on. and i recommend a water-based assembly glue. make sure you pick the kind that doesn't reject paint, and is moisture-resistant when dry - check the label!

now. if youre using such materials, its likely that youre gonna want a very opaque layer on top of them. like, if youre using a piece of umbrella, and could only get a polka dots one, and dont want the polka dots to show through, you know what im getting at (although if you want the polka dots to show thats awesome too). for this, definitely use wall/ceiling paint. it's highly pigmentated and opaque. you likely dont wanna buy an entire can, so get those little sample thingies from the rack.

youre gonna need all kinds of tools for this, and i will say, tiny little precision palette knives for oil impasto are one thing, but buy brushes and scrapers and spatulas at the hardware store too. of course, again, if you need a high quality natural hair brush for watercolors or precise oil/acrylics application, well you gotta get those, but most of the time? dont get scammed. get your brushes, especially thick bristle brushes and especially wide brushes, at the hardware store. if you wanna work with big canvases and other surfaces, these bad boys are a must

(the bendy one is for radiators, if you need to ask an employee where to find one!)

this will simply save you a lot of time and money... i encourage you to try things for yourself and see what works best. to sum up, my final message.... go to the hardware store, many useful supplies for your art to be found there. turpentine will be a lot cheaper too and its literally the same stuff

and listen! this isnt just for abstract stuff, or still life subjects. you can incorporate such techniques very effectively in landscapes, portraits, scenes, genre paintings, cityscapes, seascapes, and so on! i find that its rly good for depicting foliage, rocks, all kinds of natural textures that sometimes simply need that additional Chaotic Element, that maybe cant always be conveyed through paint alone. try it!

tumblr tips & things!

after growing rlly fast, i just wanted to provide some maybe helpful tips + things you could do if you’re a smaller blog! i am in no means an expert, I am still learning but this is what i’ve learned, specifically abt the mcyt tumblr community

disclaimer you DO NOT have to follow these, these are what ive learned and my opinion, but i think most writers can agree on this

its a lot of info im sorry ajdba but feel free to reblog and add ur own info!

1. tags!

theyre superrr important if you want exposure for your works + writing pieces, just make sure to tag accordingly

meaning: do not cross tag, or main tag, (ex do not tag just dream alone) keep ‘x reader’ content under the ‘x reader tags’

^people get uncomfortable with x readers and sometimes they slip through the filtered tags

my go-tos for tags are mcyt or cc name then the following prefixes- x reader, x y/n, x you, fanfic, fanfiction

if you have a fic for dream, DO NOT TAG george, it makes it confusing

also tags for ur random posts r super helpful because if someone doesnt want to see it, they can filter it out (my talking tag is basilly blabs)

adding a tag for the ppl you interact for! i like doing this cuz i can easily search a tag on my blog to see my prev interactions w/ them (ex. if i interact w/ userA then i tag userA’s username)

2. create some sort of brand

of course u can switch it up, but using ur own theme makes ur work recognizable to others

like mine is my banner- i use it on every of my works + important posts, so ppl can recognize me

banners can be found on the internet or twitter (but pls credit the artist w/ permission) i found mine on google

for super thin page dividers, i use ibis paint (mobile app) and made a super thin canvas (3405x57) and filled it w/ my theme color

3. plspls dont beat yourself up for rejecting requests or feeling uncomfortable

you are not forced to write requests, if they make you feel uncomfortable you can decline

also if you’re not happy with the work, you can spend the time to revise + edit, we will wait for work you are happy with!

+ if you are stuck with some details on writing smth, ask a mutual or others! more brains and more ideas!

4. same goes for writers block & health issues

we all get it sometimes, no one is pressuring you and if they are, its your blog, you decide. and your health matters more

5. the mcyt tumblr community is SUPER NICE

if u wanna be moots aka mutuals (follow each other) literally shoot them any message and they’ll respond so kindly

ive talked to so many incredible moots who I absolutely adore theyre so kind

also interacting w/ moots: they can reblog your work, creating exposure but do not expect reblogs, and same to you we are not expected to reblog

6. please check a cc’s boundaries before writing

@/smp-boundaries has a majority listed, and if not, ask!

7. if u have any questions, just ask!

lots of ppl will not even mind that much, like i said theyre super kind

8. navigation + masterlists!!

super important for everyone to see your rules, works, all put into one spot, it makes it 10x easier

9. backup ur works + asks

tumblr can be glitchy so its always helpful to back up works on google docs or smth similar

having ur whole fic deleted is not fun and demotivating

asks can be backed up by sending them to ur linked email- this has helped loads for me

10. dont worry too much abt likes + follows

all blogs start out small and as you go and keep persisting, ppl will start noticing + following, its all abt perseverance + trust the process

even when fics r rllllyy good, tumblr has its own bad days and u get low notes- dont let this discourage you

11. anonymous asks!

some ppl get nervous and request on anon! personally think theres more requests that way

12. small text or read mores!

internet is a great help w/ this and itll give you guides and step by step instructions

mobile also is a lot harder to make an aesthetic blog, so a laptop or pc or chromebook is super helpful

13. for max notes, post at ‘prime times’

i think the queue tells u when the prime time is to post for ur time zone, but also a google search is super helpful

or, guess and check! trial and error- i did this and found the best time to post for me

once you find it, you can schedule or queue your work so it posts for you!

14. if there’s sensitive topics pls add TW and CW

as writers yes we try to cover some topics that ppl request but we dont want to trigger others, so at the top include TW// (trigger warning) or CW// (content warning) and add a cut or read more

do not put CW or TW on content creators- no matter how bad they are, its rude and dehumanizing

15. Formatting is SUPER important!

if you do not separate your lines of dialogue or paragraphs, chances are people WILL skip over it. it makes it hard to read and sometimes it is’t worth people’s time

rule of thumb is make a new paragraph every time someone speaks and indicate who is talking or make is distinguishable!

if your fic is over 500 words, id add a cut as well! if you dont know how:

on mobile: type :readmore: in a new paragraph and hit enter w/out a space after the readmore

pc/laptop: new paragraph, three dots far right

Smut also def has its own set of rules but i am not a nsfw blog- main things i can say is please add cuts and check for cc’s boundaries

not everyone’s experiences are the same but this is whats worked and happened for me and what i found to be useful, i hope this helps you as well, if it doesnt, thats fine too!

nuniq holds astra's metal arm a lot. especially after missions. she makes sure to check for wear and damage. nuniq knows astra is mindful of when and when not to use her powers, but it's a habit to make sure she doesn't overexert herself.

when she does notice damage, she worries. she understands that astra's radiance is extremely powerful and, in that same sense, extremely taxing on her body. astra, being the little ray of sunshine she is insists that she's just fine and she'll heal eventually

yknow how in astra's character art you can see that her lips are a little red?

yeah this woman wears lipstick for sure and has bomb ass makeup skills (coming back to this later)

that bright shade of red really shows when they're kiss marks on nuniq's cheeks

and most of the time nuniq is unaware of them until you call them out lmaOOOOO

cue her being all flustered, trying to rub it off with her fur hood

she secretly enjoys it guys dont worry

nuniq doesn't really wear makeup a lot. the most she's worn is lip gloss, but that's about it

astra sees nothing but a perfectly blank canvas for her to work her magic on

so yeah, downtime where they don't really have to worry about missions,,, astra breaks out the kit and starts painting tf out of her face

nuniq isn't opposed to makeup actually and enjoys letting her gf be all artistic

speaking of artistic, astra's notebook probably has a whole page (..or two) just filled up with doodles of nuniq

nuniq has no idea how astra does it. she always finds a way to cheer her up, keep her chin up even in the worst scenarios. she knows astra won't ask her to pay it back, but she tries to as much as she can

1. let me also add that it's a bit rich rachel tries to claim plus sized representation for persephone when she's literally the ideal body type? she's designed exactly like the idealized hourglass figures that have been in style for literal decades now and she's even a size small in universe. randomly adding white stretch marks this late in the game does not count as representation tbh. her having big boobs and butt doesn't make her "plus sized". that's how horny male artists do it too.

2. judging off how hera, even after marrying zeus and having at least four kids with him, still had a several centuries long affair with hades and him purposely putting off marriage as long as possible gives off the impression they want each other instead, but current circumstances wont let them be together. they seem like a tragic "what if?" romance and theyre just watching each other be with people they shouldnt be with, with persephone just kinda being there and zeus just being a dick.

3. What annoys me is Webtoons itself. There are countless series both on Featured and Canvas with great premises, fantastic writing, and stunning art who are all left in the dust just so they can keep pushing the same lackluster products like LO. What happens when LO ends? Why aren't they promoting what they already feature so they too can be big media product as well? Because there's a lot of comics who work so hard just to be ignored bc they only focus on LO. It can survive on its own by now.

4. can we talk how Rachel butchered artemis for a second? the introduction to her is literally making sure artemis is super sexualized, and her remaining appearances are being clueless about persephone, being a bad friend, blindly supporting her brother, and being abused by her mother. she's also talked down to by others. hera and eros especially demean and insult her and she just puts up with it? she's also made super stupid and irrational because she doesnt like hades. why would RS do this to her

5. oh i am definitely under the impression lo hades and hera are a way better match. they have a history, a better dynamic, a close bond, and even after being married and having children and him seeing others, they still went back to each other to have a long running affair. even hera trying to hook him up with persephone lowkey seems like her "apologizing" for not being with him. i agree i think rachel just added it for drama, but it ends up making more sense than the actual lead couple.

He's v calm and chill unless u offend him/his friends. He'll take revenge in some unfathomably roundabout, clever way so you don't even realise he's doing it, and he'll be totes normal looking and like nothing is wrong.

His family owns a big hotel in uptown Tokyo so he's the sugar daddy of the group.

His parents r the really competitive-and-projects-on-their-child kind, so he went to a bunch of extra curriculars and is like, creepily good at everything. Sometimes he's even good at things he's never learnt.

He's the top of his class at college, where he's majoring in History with a minor in Japanese lit

The other three are pretty sure he sold his soul to be good at everything (they're right), but he's their bestie and pays for everything so they don't care

Heart

Heart didn't go to college and is a waiter at a restaurant, but he has some other, very irregular source of income and no-one knows what it is except Skull.

It doesn't happen often, but he sometimes disappears for hours at the weirdest times.

He's actually a hired assassin, but he only kills like, rich assholes who r exploiting others, and only accepts payment if whoever's paying can actually afford to pay. If they can't, he works for free. Think Robin Hood but murder.

His family was poor so he always hated people who exploited others for money. Star's fam is a very honest and kind rich family that helped his fam out often, and he doesn't attack those kind.

He had secretly dreamed to be an assassin since he was a kid. At first it was just a kid's fantasy but as he grew he started taking it seriously. He began at 19.

He's a really fun, outgoing and bubbly guy. He's v popular, everyone likes him. And he's not the assholey kind of popular. He's just really friendly and warm to be around. Which is why noone even thinks of "assassin" being his other job

Despite his popularity, his two friends, his twin and his parents are the only people he really cares about. He's a crazy loyal, ride or die kinda guy for these five.

He's an amazing painter, but he never learnt professionally cuz he would much rather do whatever he wants on a canvas for fun. His art style is very impressionistic and Monet. Draws a lot of nature

He's a Fine Arts major in college, the absolute top student. The red stuff on his face is paint i promise :) He mostly paints in classical styles like baroque.

He's bi and has a boyfriend whom he loves very much. He's planning on proposing soon!!

He's very intimidating and has "stay away from me" energy. People find it hard to believe he and Heart are related, but they're actually extremely close.

There's a rumours that Skull is a mafia gang leader, that he once killed someone, etc. None of these are true, of course.

He does help his brother plan his murders tho. He's really good with planning and organising, Heart is not. He shares the same hatred as Heart. They're a duo, always working together, Skull planning and Heart carrying it out.

His boyfriend knows all this and just reminds them to be careful.

The only people who can get him to laugh regularly are his boyfriend and Heart. The besties can too but less often.

He doesn't even genuienely smile around other people. If anyone else asks him to smile his does this rlly intimidating smile like in the picrew.

He loves his boyfriend, brother, and the two besties alot. He's not very obviously affectionate, but the others know his little subtle displays of love. He's just really bad at showing emotions.

Similarly, he's not very romantic. Not in the aromantic sense, he's just awkward. Luckily his boyfriend is very cheesy and it's helping him come out of his shell.

"i wanna be with you / im trying" she is literally forcing herself to try and date him normally when thats honestly never what she wanted. and its nicks own fault here bc she never even wanted to be "official" but he forced that out of her too in front of coworkers no less. he set himself up to be disappointed
