Okay, collected my thoughts and saw some memes, ready to present: season 3 episode 8. Spoilers below !!

Right, off the bat, I have to admit I wasn't really happy with this one. I knew there had to be at least one, but ough. This was not enough to chew on until next week.

I'm happy Phee's back!! I just wish she had done more. Happy to know she thought of Tech as (her) databank though!!!! That was kinda cute, like he reminded her of stuff :(( adorable.

But!!! I kinda assumed that with Fennec, Bane would show up too?? Bit disappointed because now it means we have ANOTHER bounty hunter episode- which is, like, fine. had this one gone better.

I miss echo.

The banter between Wrecker, Fennec and Hunter did make up for the lack of.... usual pizzazz, I have to admit. Fennec was ruthless 💀 she had myself and my mother appalled (especially when she closed the ramp while Hunter was Still Standing on it. Like. Girlboss but oh????) I did enjoy the broke joke 😭 the section was good, just.. a bit lacking??

Maybe I'm being picky with it. It didn't feel very story driven (considering it's the last season I thought they'd truck along with Wolffe's story and have more results quicker?)

The little moments with Crosshair and Omega are cute, I'm glad they're healing after Tantiss :( Crosshair scrunching up while he says he's fine really got to me, poor dude has Seen Shit. i hope he talks to someone about it :(

But, again, i felt it was lacking?? Like, it was great that they had that moment, but did it... really need a whole episode? Especially, again, during the Final Season?? I just think it's something we as an audience could enjoy brainstorming, and give the actual show the stage for plot point development, idk

Going through this ep and then thinking about the next few ones, I'm worried. We're halfway through the season and things have been a bit.. too calm. The double ep we got last week was pretty action packed(albeit during the second ep, first one was mostly build up)

which I'm scared is gonna end up being the case during "Identity Crisis" and I really hope that's not what happens!!!! I want them to be independent episodes, not one building up to the other. Again, I'm being picky with it. I'll enjoy it anyways.

But, seriously, this episode wasn't NEARLY enough for me to chew on until next week. I'm gonna be over it by tomorrow, when I run out of memes to look at (and I stop obsessing over the Minute Long Scene with Phee.) Which is a bit disappointing, but I'm holding out hope for next week!!!

yes tumblr user holy-shit-kris-deltarune. i do indeed like the best character in homestuck that is jade harley and no thats not an opinion thats FACT. jade harley IS the best homestuck character. also despite vriska unfortunately not being on the top three objectively best homestuck characters list yes i do enjoy her a lot. i have some issues with where her arc WENT, but as a character i still love her. (my m8in issues with her resurrection invalid8ting her previous two arcs as (vriska) and during the whole jack debacle. i used to be really sour abt how inconclusive her ending was, but tbh after reading the epilogues i dont mind it so much.) anyways i CLEARLY have vriska br8inrot like she m8de me see spiders for what they are (FUCKING AWESOME), infected the way i texted (i picked uo the eight punctuation for a bit, use ::::} as an emoticon, use the eight repl8cement for “(h)ay” sounds), and the other usual homestuck fan whos into vriska shit.

i never really thought of vrisjade until your posts and at that point it was like “they would have the perfect dynamic” and “why have i never shipped these two before”. also i do remember reading one vrisjade fic you were talking abt and really liking it. like its still not an otp for me, but when it comes to vriska ships yeah its either vrisjade or junevris. (i still enjoy most vriska ships purely because of her tho. thats how much br8inrot i had for her)

oh shit oh beans. did i not talk abt jade harley yet? the best character in homestuck? well i am now! shes a poor traumatized girl and deserves the world. like most jade fans i do NOT like candy timeline jade, but im neutral over meat timeline jade. but thats besides the point. i fell in love with her character right away and while reading through it, yes ofc i began to ship jadedave like the b8sic bitch i am (they are very cute together and i like them a lot. im just saying that im not unique) i am still very upset that jade like after act 5 does almost nothing other than going grimbark. like hussie teases jaddave with the davesprite situation, m8kes her go feral the instant she arrives in the new timeline, then what- she goes on a dead adventure with calliope? that while characterizes her very very well doesnt result in much for her? she was robbed. like she deserved so much better. AND SHE BARELY INTERACTS WITH ANYONE FROM THE METEOR CAST AFTER ACT 5 AS WELL. I DONT THINK ROSE AND JADE EVER HAVE A CONSVERSATION WITH JUST THEM. ugh, gripes aside with how she was handled, shes the best. (i will not get into hs2- i will not get into hs2- i will not i refuse)

well for ones i know how to play- well i used to know how to play anyways- i played the clarinet in band! n at some point i got an ocarina n tried learning that but never worked on it much. i used to be able to play a couple little tunes on it tho (like the jigglypuff song from the pokemon anime. or part of it at least). someday ill get back to it...

for my fave instruments... id probably say the violin and piano. i really love the sound of them, and i like how much emotion they can evoke!

takeaway from this; either canon or odd pair. Romance is so time-consuming and heavy, and I find friendship more appealing because you get to see two characters (or more) care about each other and help each other despite not wearing rose coloured glasses.

For romance, you can see a pattern there too; Funneh and Alec like LIKE each other, but they're friends first. What I love about YHS is that they easily couldve portrayed funneh and alec in kdrama way (with corny one liners, romantic gestures...) but they didnt. It feels authentic and theyre just chilling!! The arcade date is the best example tbh. Loved everything about it.

What’s your favourite character/ship (platonic or otherwise) dynamics?

I have no idea tbh.... I guess I mostly just like found family a lot!! Its always my favourite thing in any series i like :) and the characters in the found family are always my faves...

I also really like chaotic duos/inseparable partners (besties who need each other, like Roman and Neo r) also a huge fan of like... idk how to describe it.. Whatever Date and Aiba have going on (i guess they work for inseparable besties too). I also!! Really love long friendships like Boss and Date, and Aubrey and Basil. And then family-esque relationships where theyre both kind of stinky to each other but they obviously care about each other a lot (Like Drake and Gosalyn, Date and Mizuki, Natsu Happy and Lucy, and Roman and Neo (how she likes to tease him a lot))

So I’ve finally got to re-reading HLITF

and something in the prologue just reminder me of my absolute favourite thing from this app and its this:

I havent re-played much of the other Voltage games (except for some MSB stories that I smh salvaged before the standalone apps disappeared) so I dont really remember much about other MC’s friends but I vividly remember loving this girl with all my heart because she’s just THE BEST FRIEND out of all the Voltage MC’s friends.

Okay, I know there’s Kosugi from MSB but, if Im remembering correctly, there are times where I feel like she can be insensitive towards the MC so she’s second but she’s a REAL CLOSE second. 

Anyways, Naruko is my number one for so many reasons namely:

OKAY firstly, she cute AF I mean LOOK. AT. THAT. SPRITE!!!!! Also, she  has the same bubbly attitude as the MC like out of all the MCs’ friends across all the games, that similarity between her and MC (asgsfhsjfhjgahs I used to call the HLITF MC Mido as in Midori cause tbh she’s too freaking green, to be a PSD detective, well at least in the beginning) is much more obvious and you can really tell in the few scenes that she appears in every story that she and MC vibe really well. I was actually surprised that’s the personality the writers chose to give her because considering the premise that the MC is a country outsider among these elite big city cadets, I was expecting them to really push that ‘outsider’ narrative and write the other cadets to have a vastly different personality as compared to the MC but they didnt with her so it was nice to see that in this academy where MC constantly has to struggle to prove she belongs, there is at least one person that really welcomes her and that the MC can confide with. 

Also, Naruko fangirls like nobody’s business. I remember reading a screencap of her looking all serious saying ‘if i wanna go out with my darling Subaru, I need to check his sched with Goto first’ or smt like that 😂 But anyways, I like how she’s just BLATANTLY. AND CONSTANTLY. THIRSTING over the instructors!!! And sometimes even MC is like ‘hey girl! let’s get you away from these sex-on-a-sticks and nearer to this tall glass of ice cold water’ AHDFGJHAGHSGHGAJHJ I LIVE FOR THIS SOMEWHAT SOLIDARITY!!!! THEYRE BOTH JUST LIKE ‘YOU KNOW WHAT THESE UPTIGHT INSTRUCTORS NEED? A HOT DATE!! HMU FELLAS!’ 

But tbh, what really sold it for me was how supportive she is of MC, even knowing that MC is hiding smt from her. I mean, I seriously think she knows that MC is dating an instructor and she could probably make some pretty intelligent guesses on who it is since its canon that Naruko is really observant and even the MC is like ‘I need to be careful around her, she’s really sharp’ in this one story (I forgot which) and also, MC is VERY TRANSPARENT™ like I havent played HLITF in a long time but I still rmb the insane number of scenes when the instructors tease her abt dating an instructor and she could NEVER hide her reaction like sometimes its not even teasing, she would LITERALLY set herself up to get caught by just fantasizing and blushing like crazy or smirking or whatever. Also, that whole my uncle’s nephew’s sister’s blah blah is so obv like really MC? You trynna pull that kinda thing with a detective scouted into PSD (chances are she also got in through connections but still) Ok, I digressed so back to my point, I love how much she supports MC’s secret relationship and whenever MC comes to her with some ‘hypothetical’ situation involving a distant relative of a distant relative of a distant relative, she puts up with MC’s antics and rolls along with it. She just respects the fact that MC wont tell her and tries to help to the best of her abilities with the info she’s given. I forgot whose story it is (wow this must be the 289482th time I typed that) but I rmb there was one where the MC thinks her instructor and this other woman are really comfy with each other and wonders if they’re exes and starts getting worried about how close they are. So she goes to Naruko and does her usual distant relative of a distant relative of a distant relative and poor Naruko who obv didnt want to have this convo just goes like ‘here we go again’ and then there’s a jump to a later part of the convo and my girl is suddenly scolding MC like ‘No ThEyRe SwOrN eNeMiE- OF COURSE THEYRE EXES YOU DUMB BIJ WAKE TF UP GET HER AWAY FROM HIM’ (Im paraphrasing) I just love how she goes from ‘Im so done with your shit’ to ‘That shit is my purpose to live now’ and that pretty much is the classic dynamic between her and MC after almost every MS2 - MC thinking she’s doing at least a decent job of hiding her relationship and Naruko just chilling like ‘No you aint honey but I love you so I wont tell you otherwise and just settle for giving you free relationship therapy’ 

I also used have this headcannon that Naruko is also dating an instructor and it sent me thinking about how MC would push herself and put in everything to make sure her secret stays secret and she’d basically be too preoccupied to realise that Naruko’s also hiding something from her. MC wouldn’t have a freaking clue or even suspect anything until she receives a wedding invite from her 😂

I was unhappy with this book for a million reasons

james hates liars but u basically lied to his family for him (so he already knows ur capable of doing that)

i just really didnt think he had a right to be mad at the MC =/ cause it wasnt her secret to tell

like if anything it says a lot about the MC’s loyalty

which was already proven when she LIED TO UR PARENTS FOR U

i hated how the MC was forcing kaitlyn to come out

i felt like the MC was a really shitty friend in this book

I really just didnt enjoy this book :/

i ended up not replaying to see what dating other characters would be like

The New Books

1) Haunting of Braidwood Manor

I love reading scary stories

as long as the MC isn’t deliberately trying to get herself killed lol I think I will really enjoy this book

yknow like how in scary movies the protagonist is always doing stupid shit that gon get them killed LOL

2) Endless Summer

If you can’t tell by my love of scary stores, I have a thing for stories that are like “dont know the whole truth gotta find out” (which i guess is strange cause I didnt like most wanted)

4) Freshman Book 3

I know I said I really like Zig so far, and he could be new potential LI as I no longer like any of the other 3 (as romantic interest as least)

I guess I was just too bummed out by the 2nd book I’m not looking forward to the 3rd book anymore.

also (i have 2 files lol) in the file where im dating kaitlyn I picked the I’m not gay option and yet... the MC is still considered gay if u state that Zig is hard not to notice (she like says shes looking for someone female) and if ur not dating kaitlyn ur considered straight too which bummed me out more than the other thing

but i guess that would be hard to code

i did appreciate how i could say i’m not exclusively interested in girls though

kirk when i come to the horrifying realisation that he is in fact the mouthpiece for the 60s white men that are writing him and is in fact played by william shatner aka episodes like miri and that one where he's a native american god bc what the fuck... i'll be watching having a good time and then oh fuck. thats shatner's face NOOOOO aside from that the random side characters that replace uhura or sulu or chekov when theyre not available who are you fucking imposters!!!

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon)

i barely have a singular ship the entire ship is well. a ship. theyre all dating each other the entire ship is polyamorous. my fave dynamics so far tho r; bones & spock obviously they r so funny. scotty & kirk i dont think any other combo on the enterprise is more enabling of each others specific brand of bullshit. uhura & everyone she is their BABYGIRL she is the most important person on that ship n everyone loves her as they should. the second favourite babygirl after the enterprise itself. scotty is the third fave btww. pavel & chekov they are like. daforge before there was daforge n kirk n that one klingon captain in the tribbles ep. why were they like that.

kirk wasnt that feminist like yes for the time but he still very much so was a man written in the 60s by other men and idk i feel like painting him as 100% feminist w/ that one "a crewman" gif is disingenious. like definitely what abrhams did was a crime to make him even weirded! but idk people always want to focus on the best and its like grabbing so many women by the shoulders like that so often makes me very uncomfortable watching dhdfhfvhvf
