The following post is a beginner’s guide to the max2019 ARG.

Its contents exist on our blog, in their original home, at /basics.

Further information can be found on our blog’s /faq.

To avoid taking any form of credit for some of the images in this explanation, I will link the non-official images to their source.

Additionally, if this post can be made more readable or accessible, please feel free to send specifics via ask.

Without further ado, here it is.

Sometime around June 20th, 2018, several Tumblr users received messages from a pornbot by the name of sexygirlmax2019.

Although already quite noteworthy on those grounds (sike, this site sucks), the contents of her messages were what struck the recipients as odd.

The messages, as one would expect, quickly achieved memetic status on multiple sites, including Tumblr and Twitter, but initially they were written off as just a funny (albeit vaguely ominous) reflection of Tumblr’s bot problem evolving.

She also, when prompted, has stated that she is trapped, and that she needs people to come to her–via teleportation–presumably in order to help.

Then, sexygirlmax2019 posted a link. Though many would assume it were a link to some manner of spam site or virus, the actual link led to a neocities site, and from that point forward, it was clear that Max was more than a bot.

The site itself (warning for autoplaying sounds) was filled with images varying from pinup shots, screen glitches, simple drawings of eyes, and angels, with clickthroughs to the next pages.

People began inspecting the coding of the page, finding hidden messages from Max and the vocaroo links to the sounds embedded in the autoplay.

At the end of the pages lay /thirdsphere/angels.html, which proclaimed, “Being present for a child’s growth and development is very important.” The image on this page linked to a lovely5500, a blog owned by a 15 year old girl named Anita.

Anita posted often about being very sick, but said repeatedly that her mother would not take her to a doctor for her illness.

As time went on, Max’s neocities pages would change and update, with new pages, images, and hidden messages being added. Eventually, she added a link with the text, “Smell me here.”

This link led to a post by a user called sceneteenz about something called “sickness stench” and its symptoms, as well as stating:

Gradually, it became apparent that Max was Anita’s guardian angel. Max is trapped in Limbo, and is emanating the sickness stench, infecting Anita as well by virtue of being her guardian angel.

The identity of sceneteenz is currently unconfirmed, and another previous victim of sickness stench named Celeste has been mentioned minimally.

Thoughts on the max2019 arg

This is just to organize what I learned before I go to bed.

People:

Anita - normal 15 year old kid. Knows about angels. Knows who Max is and that max is her guardian angels. Sick with enricks. Her mom won't take her to the doctor. Her Grandpa died of enricks (and was sent the poem on /thirdsphere/principalities.html before he did).

max - an angel. disguising herself as a pornbot to communicate to people (and hide from the HURL?). Trapped in limbo and sick (with enricks?) Can still see Anita but can't interact with her. Can't (or won't?) stream her room.

Celeste - just a person briefly mentioned by anita. She apparently doesn't know who she is.

Sceneteenz - a former angel/member of HURL (does that make them a devil??). Cataloging information about angels and "sickness stench." Really into scene culture. Maybe Celeste??

Other:

HURL - just angels, as they exist in the Catholic canon. apparently an organization you can just "leave." Also some business with higher and lower spheres?

enricks - (probably?) also called sickness stench. something like cancer incl growth on internal organs. Causes rashes and coughing and a fever. Plus whatever that list of symptoms that sceneteenz put up. Dizziness, black spots, wet spots, w/e. The "online version" apparently fucks up your text which is why I think it's the same thing as enricks. Angels can get it but only in limbo.

Anita's room - max apparently streamed it at one point but can't/won't anymore. It's "pink and full of light." ":3" link on Anita's blog goes to a "url not found" page with the subdomain "/my-room"

the picture from /thirdsphere/archangels.html - There's a single frame in this gif that I'm really interested in. It's apparently a picture from Google Earth of a street in Thailand. There was an /x/ thread about it.

Menempatkan file audio MP3 di Maya bukanlah sesuatu yang baru atau baru-baru ini ditemukan, teknologi, sudah membikin kebisingan online selama sebagian tahun, tapi tak pernah demikian itu populer dan didiskusikan seperti di pasar dunia online ketika ini. Pasti ada desas-desus di sekitarnya hari ini.

Saat aku pertama kali mengawali desain multimedia tujuh tahun lalu, file audio MP3 telah tersebar di Maya. Dunia MP3 meningkat kencang sesudah Napster merilis program jaringan berbagi file P2P pada tahun 1999.

Dikala ukuran file MP3 jauh lebih kecil ketimbang wujud audio \\\"MOV\\\", \\\"WAV\\\", dan mempunyai mutu bunyi yang lebih bagus, tak butuh waktu lama bagi MP3 untuk menjadi wujud audio komputerisasi utama di Maya.

Ketika ini, dia terus mendominasi pasar audio Maya, dan konsisten tak berubah sebagai opsi terbaik di antara wujud musik audio komputerisasi.

Dunia historis, ada kekurangan kecepatan Maya dan ukuran hard disk komputer dan ROM relatif kecil dan mahal. Sangat file MP3 seharusnya dikonversi dari wujud file \\\"MOV\\\" atau \\\"WAV\\\" dan perekaman audio, perangkat keras dan lunak pengeditan betul-betul kompleks untuk diaplikasikan, serta betul-betul mahal dan cuma sanggar profesional yang mempunyai kantong yang cukup dalam untuk membeli.

Oleh sebab itu, ini tak pernah menjadi alat yang gampang bagi pemasar Maya dan pengembang laman untuk diaplikasikan demi profit mereka. Segala masih ingat pengorbanan untuk mengompres file audio, dan menyeimbangkan mutu bunyi, supaya kompatibel dengan modem 28,8kbps.

Dikala sedikit laman laman bisnis yang mempunyai audio laman di laman laman mereka, dan yang melaksanakannya cuma ada di sana sebagai musik latar. Saya ada tujuan atau taktik pemasaran di baliknya. Beberapa besar desainer memamerkan \\\"trik canggih\\\" mereka, mencoba mengesankan atasan mereka, yang pada dasarnya yaitu \\\"mainan elektronik\\\" untuk desainer laman laman.

Bagi mereka yang tak mempunyai komputer, tak tahu sistem memasang mikrofon ke komputer mereka, atau terlalu malas untuk melaksanakannya, sebagian pemasar malah sudah merancang metode telepon untuk merekam file audio untuk mereka.
