Carrying on with Nasrani flavor in our home cooking, today was another classic. Chakkakuru Chemmeen Maanga Curry with Drumsticks. The ingredients sound rather exotic with prawns, jackfruit seeds , Drumsticks & raw mango in a finely ground coconut curry . With the exception of seafood, everything else was from our backyard. Spicing limited to turmeric & red chillies. A marvellous example of simplicity & balance of flavors. Payathanga Thoran & Andhra style Vazhapindi completed the picture. Yard long beans is one of my favorite legumes & taste almost buttery even just tossed with spiced coconut . The Andhra style Banana stem is a recipe mom learnt from our neighbours in Vizag. Super simple. Mustard seeds, sesame oil, ground mustard & plantain pith is all there in this stirfry. കേരളത്തിന്റെ ഭരണസിരാകേന്ദ്രം #കേരളപ്പിറവി 😍 #keralasecretariat Kerala Government Secretariat building is one of the most prominent historical place in Kerala. It is the headquarters of the state ministries and bureaucratic offices. The history of the Secretariat or Niyamasabha mandiram complex starts with His Highness Ayilyam Thirunal Maharaja of Travancore Kingdom, who laid foundation stone in the year 1865. It took nearly four years to complete the construction by the year 1869. It was originally constructed as the purpose of using it as their Durbar Hall where the Travancore Rajas (kings) used to meet their subjects every month. Kerala Secretariat building was designed by Barton, the then chief engineer of Travancore. He took out structural elements from both Dutch and Roman architecture styles which were the top at that time and incorporated them into this building. T. Madhava Rao, the then Dewan of Travancore, was the supervisor of construction. Showing honor, a statue of him is erected across the road opposite the building. The last Travancore king His Highness Chithira Tirunal was the last to be ordained as king at the current Secretariat building and from 1939 it was used as the legislative assembly hall. The then Viceroy Lord Willingdon laid the foundation for the new building in the year 1933 (December 12). It was completed by the end of 1938 and, on February 6, 1939, Dewan Sir C. P. Ramaswami Iyer opened the new building. In the same year, the Second Sri Mulam popular Assembly was held in this new building.
