I just saw someone say "Rory didn't appreciate Luke enough" 🙄 Rory ALWAYS appreciated Luke! Yes she did she always appreciated Luke! When Lorelai slept with Christopher she got upset with her mom, because she cares about Luke. When Jess was making Luke's life harder Rory stood up for him and then Jess fixed the toaster. When Emily broke up Luke and Lorelai Rory froze out Emily too, because what she did hurt her and her mom. When Luke and Christopher saw Rory and Logan hooking up at Emily and Richards vowel renewal she only cared about how Luke saw her because he looked mad and didn't even care that Christopher was mad. When Luke and Lorelai got together she told Christopher to stay away from Lorelai because she truly cared about Luke! Rory definitely did appreciate Luke, she cared so much for Luke, and stands up for him in many different instances even to the people she loves in her life she will stand up for Luke if she feels they have hurt Luke. I don't understand why people always have to villainize Rory for everything!

Hey, welcome back to GilmoreGirls101! Today I will be continuing my series of blogs about several characters from Gilmore Girls. I ended my last blog talking about Jess Mariano. If you're not Team Jess, then you might be Team Dean. This might be a hot take, but I think, Dean Forester walked, so Jess could run.

Dean was Rory's first-ever boyfriend. He was new to school and very interested in Rory. They had a few fights, but their relationship only started to really become rocky when Jess showed up. I think Dean was a good first boyfriend and a great experience for Rory. I think they both made mistakes, and they could've lasted longer if they treated each other better. I think that because they loved each other a lot, but were toxic without even realizing it. I'm glad they didn't end up together, and I'm not surprised because Rory and Dean didn't have a lot of chemistry. Rory had more chemistry with the rest of her boyfriends. One thing I love about Dean is how respectful he was, he was great to Lorelai and great to her grandparents. Dean's biggest downfall was his jealousy. He was jealous of how smart Rory was, her big future, her rich grandparents, her guy friends, etc. He was always jealous, and we know that because of the rude remarks he'd make when he was upset. After Rory left him, he ended up with Lindsay. He never fully loved her as much as he loved Rory. That's why their relationship ended with him cheating on her with Rory. They both made big mistakes that day, but I believe that showed a lot about Dean's character. He was willing to risk his wife for Rory. Dean's a good guy, just not the right guy for Rory.

Kirk's quote of the day: "I read lips. My girlfriend taught me. It's so we can have quiet time and keep the conversation going at the same time."

This is Kirk just being weird again, but I think Rory would've appreciated a little quiet time with Dean every time he was being a crybaby.

look, i hate loralei but i don't hate her character if that makes sense. i think loralei is a well-written, complex woman who is genuinely trying to be better. i also think she's very abusive towards rory and i hate a lot of her actions and behaviorisms but i understand why she does them. like, she's not my favorite character on the show but she is up there in terms of technical craft as a character. i appreciate her complexity but this blog is still a certified loralei gilmore hater

Round and round we go.

I recently stumbled upon a blog I started when I was like 17 or 18. Totally crazy to be reading that almost 20 years later. Man this world is crazy right now.

Anyway. I always enjoyed the idea of writing. My ADHD often has me invest in these vast projects and then get bored. So, maybe writing would be a way to hold myself accountable.

Most recently, I've been working on a new challenge. I'm trying to read like Rory Gilmore and I found a list of 400+ books that she read or mentioned on Gilmore Girls. So, I purchased a few.

I started with 1984, which I definitely know was assigned reading in school at some point. I was a smart student, but a lazy one, so, not sure how much of it was read through as intended. I can tell you this, reading it as an adult in this political climate has been eye opening.

It's like Orwell spoke it into existence. As if they wrote it like a freaking playbook. I am currently on chapter 4. I'm not even 25% through. I am enjoying it so much more than I ever expected.

This book is lost on the young. High schoolers don't pay enough attention to politics to truly appreciate the correlations between this literature and reality. Every adult should read it. It's been called the most banned book in the country and that says a lot.

I don't like Amy and I don't like her ending up with Laurie guy. I mean, they're not really in love, she's just a replacement. But this is not a sassy thing, can I ask what you like about her/them? I see you talk a very lot about her/them and I'm a curious man!!!!!!!!!

Hey!!!!! I actually recognize my own way of thinking here, not when it comes to your opinion on the matter, but the approach taken. I tend to consider all the options before "closing the case" too so the answer is no. You are definitely not being annoying! And before I start rambling, I need to address the last paragraph of your ask aka 🧙‍♀️I NEED TO YELL AT YOU🧙‍♀️!!!!!! Because!!!!! Little Women is a lot about gender and how it's perceived, I spend most of my time here talking (💫screaming💫) about that particular aspect of the story hence there's no reason at all to judge you or anything like that? In case you're saying that in wish to manipulate me into liking you despite disagreeing with your initial statement: smart move.

If you know anything about my blog you'd know that I'm not that attached to the romance of shipping. I appreciate the beauty of a fictional dynamic regardless of the label anybody might put on it. The concepts of endgame and shipping in a classic sense are pretty irrelevant to me, I just need "my ships" to be a hundred bus stops away from boring and I'm hooked. That's how I feel about Amy and Laurie, I just don't care about romance of it that much. What does fascinate me about their relationship is how perfectly balanced it is? I always say that Jo, Amy and Laurie, at their centre, are incredibly similar people who aren't too fond of... well, being similar to each other. (which has a lot to do with the ambitious streak each of them has, though it manifests in a different way with all of them) Jo and Laurie shared similarities that led them to finding comfort and understanding in another human being which is such a big and important thing that meant an insane amount to both of them in an otherwise much darker adolescence. Jo and Amy share similarities that make them clash and Amy and Laurie... they aren't afraid to call each other out on their nonsense and are just as ready to point out the other's strong suits. They inspired each other!!!! Like... look at how open this conversation is:

Amy doesn't want the facade Laurie puts up for the world, she wants Laurie as chaotic and messy as he is! They've both seen the raw, unfiltered version of the other and loved each other in the face of all that messiness + both changed for the better. That's love! It also helps that they're such hopeless romantics at heart which allows them to be all extravagant and bubbly about it and not feel like they're "too much". (look at this they are. so gross.) As for Amy, I LOVE her. The funny bit with Jo is, she thinks she's a realist but she's actually a cynic, while Amy understands and sees the world for what it is (Jo is more focused on what it could be and what it isn't), faults and all and loves it. I saw someone say "Rory is leading Jess on" referring to ayitl.

She wasn't leading him on because she never gave him any indication that there was anything between them romantically.

She doesn't even know about his feelings for her. Jess keeps his feelings for her to himself. When he is longing for her he does it in secret so no one can see he still deeply loves her. He does, she's the one that got away for him.

He didn't stop his life for her or even hint to her that he wanted to be with her. Jess loves Rory from afar that this point. He isn't in constant pain over her, it's just when he sees her it brings all of those feelings back. She has no way of knowing he has feelings for her because he doesn't let that show.

The scene was showing us that yes Jess does still love Rory, but he keeps that to himself for now. It also shows him looking at her being motherly. Rory is comforting Kirk in that scene, and he's seeing that nurturing side of her. He also sees how she is coming more alive from the last time he saw her in ayitl when he told her she should write a book and how she was starting to get her spark back. That scene was showing us he is her future because they have unfinished business but for now he keeps those feelings to himself similar to how Luke would stay silent about his feelings for Lorelai (even though everyone knew but her.)

I just get so tired of people misrepresenting Rory's character. Yes she is flawed but she isn't malicious. She cares about Jess but she's also not as aware of her feelings as Jess is. Rory has so much going on in her life at that point she hasn't even given herself the space to think about it. Right now at that point what she needs is a friend and that's what Jess is for her at that moment, but she definitely wasn't leading him on he never even gave her any indication that he still has feelings for her. Their story is very much still unresolved, but it's something neither one of them are ready to cross that line and have those talks yet. I just hate how she gets so much unnecessary hate. Was I happy with all of her actions especially in ayitl? No, but I hate when people misrepresent her character or flat out make stuff up to justify their hatred towards her.

name: erin. i currently live in the midwest, but i’m not from here, so everyone pronounces it ‘air-in’ and like ... that’s not wrong. but i have a philly accent, so my ‘short e’ sound is very distinct, and everyone here makes fun of me for how i say my own name lol

nickname: my best friends call me moon/moonie. we have another erin in our group who we call sun/sunny. we’re complete opposites and someone in high school jokingly called us sun and moon once, and we’ve been called that ever since. teachers called us that, and it’s been extended to friends’ parents/friends’ college friends/etc.  

zodiac sign: gemini (sun and mercury!!). i have every single sign in my chart somewhere, except for aries and libra. lean v heavily on my cancer moon, but also will take this opportunity to highlight my venus in taurus - my kink is literally just stability

so here’s the thing. i’ve basically become too overwhelmed on this blog to be here regularly. i kind of let things spiral out of control, i guess? and i just have no motivation to write any of the characters on here, or even be on my rory gilmore sideblog. that being said, i’m not sure i want to completely abandon this blog, but i’m also not exactly sure how to get things back on track. i’d really appreciate some help with what to do with this here, primarily because i feel like getting feedback from the people i write with/interact with/are mutuals with would make me feel most comfortable with my decision and knowing it’s the right one and all. so i made this fun little poll here, and any and all feedback is really appreciated.  in the meantime, i’m over on @whittledgiraffes writing up a storm! :)

New York : favourite aesthetic? ,,, welll ,,, I have an aesthetic blog ,,, if you want to check it outs is @sunflowers-will-grow but I think my most basic aesthetic is comfy sweaters,books, and sunlight

Pennsylvania : one thing your proud about yourself? The fact that I actually managed to bike 13 miles yesterday to get to and from the March for our lives despite the fact that I’ve never ridden further than 3.52 miles before ,, it may have taken me 3 and a half hours and I may be in horrendous pain now but I did it and I’m proud of myself

Massachusetts : what is one fictional character you identify yourself with? Ahhh okay I like this question because instead of the normal who’s your favourite character it’s what character do you identify with which can be very different from my favourite characters okay ,,, um ,,, okay so this is probably one of my favourite characters ever and according to all of my family and friends and my families friends I remind them of this character which is Elena Alvarez which I mean they’re not wrong and I’m v flattered (also a close second is probably Rory Gilmore cause i get that one a lot too) (notable mentions even tho this was not apart of the question: Lexie Grey, Alex Danvers, Alec light wood, Riley Matthews, and if daisy wick and Vincent Nigel Murray from bones had a child that would be me)

Florida : things you look for in a friend? Ahhhhh I don’t know, I guess just people I connect with, people I’m comfortable with without being forced, we have to have some similar interests but that’s not as important, people who are kind and thoughtful and do their best by people, people who are funny and understanding that i might not always laugh at their jokes or understand them but I appreciate them (most of the time), people who are there for you, who tell you the honest truth and don’t sugarcoat things, who tell you when your being stupid or when your being smart and you can’t see it, people who build you up when your down or sit with you in the darkness to give you some company, most of my friends are LGBTQ+ but like that’s not a requirement it just seems to happen, and people who are just good people even if they don’t know it So like basically everyone single one of my friends (including and probably most notably you ask sender jen)
