(A thread made by your resident OG Pokemon fan. I did my best to give each of the lads a Mega evolution, an Eeveelution as well as a plausible starter Pokemon.)

Bojan - Fairy type ✨

Mischievous, ethereal and charming

Starter Pokémon: Chimchar/Infernape

Actual first Pokémon: Growlithe/Arcanine

He definitely has a couple of fire-types that allude to his sexiness.

Tinkaton, Diancie and Sylveon are little but fierce, just like him. DO NOT mess with them.

Arcanine and Ninetales are puppies!

Diancie suits him. A tiny diamond princess who’s a sight to behold and screams “look at me”? Absolutely a Bojan-coded Pokémon.

Kris - Psychic Type ⚜️

Elegant, intelligent and such a slay

Starter Pokémon: Fennekin/Delphox

Actual First Pokémon: Ralts/Gallade

C'MON GUYS, Gallade has cake. A huge cake. Looks very princely too. He’s a much better fit for Kris than Gardevoir!

Hatterene is SUCH a Kris-coded Pokémon. Tall, beautiful and they even share a default expression!

Milotic is a fitting, beautiful tallmon. Naturally such a beauty would suit Kris!

Kris mentioned that he prefers light over darkness, hence Psychic types in general and Espeon in particular.

Jan - Dark Type 💀

Mysterious, sexy and edgy

Starter Pokémon: Sprigatito/Meowscarada

Actual First Pokémon: Deino/Hydreigon

Houndoom has sexy incubus vibes. One cannot have an appropriate Jan team without a Pokémon that gives off incubus vibes.

Weavile and Umbreon are appropriate black cat coded Pokémon.

He's the only one with the patience to slowly raises a Deino all the way to Hydreigon. Even if the little Deino is clumsy and blind, and evolves so late, he perseveres (and thus also shows his soft side). Also, imagine little Jan and Deino with their matching hairstyles!

Jan mentioned that he prefers darkness over light, hence the Dark type in general and Umbreon in particular.

Jure - Electric Type ⚡️

Energetic, chaotic and playful

Starter Pokémon: Pikachu/Raichu

Actual First Pokémon: Shinx/Luxray

Rotom is a chaotic gremlin, of course Jure would have one! And he does switch between all its forms from time to time.

Luxray and Zeraora are big cats!

Ampharos may be cute...but it's a dragon and is capable of VERY dangerous things, so please do not piss it off.

Jolteon is SUCH a Jure coded Eeveelution. Chaotic? Swift as lightning? Charming in its own way? Yup.

Nace - Ground Type 🍂

Strong, steady and reliable

Starter Pokémon: Turtwig/Torterra

Actual First Pokémon: Teddiursa/Ursaluna

Of course Gengar makes it on his team. A Nace coded team is not a proper Nace coded team without Gengar!

Ursaluna is 100% a Nace Pokemon...FIGHT ME. Just look at it! A fierce looking bear that also looks like it could give nice hugs to its owner? Sounds just like Nace in Pokémon form.

He absolutely has the temperament to deal with a powerhouse like Garchomp.

Leafeon is nurturing, but also has immense strength for a small Pokémon - it’s strong enough to split trees. 100% the Nace-coded Eeveelution.

Martin - Steel Type ⚙️

Logical, dignified and protective

Starter Pokémon: Piplup/Empoleon

Actual First Pokémon: Porygon/Porygon-Z

Metagross is just as intelligent as Martin is, and despite being hell to catch, Martin managed to work out a strategy and caught it in a Beast Ball, no less!

Martin has a very kind heart, and this kind heart means that he would never abandon his very first Pokémon that he programmed, a Porygon that evolved into Porygon-Z, even when it starts acting quirky!

He's such a king, of course Pokemon such as Kingdra and Aegislash would suit him.

He has some Water-types to reflect his caring, levelheaded side. Vaporeon is the Eeveelution that suits him most, due to its qualities.

Everyone brought out their Pokemon to fight. Gary brought out his Blastoise. Erika brought out her Venusaur. Clemont brought out his Luxray. Serena brought out her Delphox. Anabel brought out her Alakazam. Looker brought out his Poochyena. Gladion threw a pokeball and out came Silvally. Kiawe brought out his Alolan Marowak. Olivia brought out her Lycanroc. Sophicles brought out his Togedemaru. Lana brought out her Primarina. Mallow brought out her Tsareena.

Ranee took out a pokeball and out came her Infernape. Paul threw a pokeball and out came Torterra. Dawn let go of Piplup. Kenny threw a pokeball and out came his Breloom. Barry took out a pokeball and out came his Emploeon. Bianca threw a pokeball and out came Zebstrika. Zoey took out a pokeball and her Glameow appeared. Todd threw a pokeball and out came Kori. Misty brought out Togetic. Brock out Steelix. Lucy brought out her Milotic. Jessie brought out her Seviper. James brought out his Carnvine. Brandon brought out Registeel. Rudy turned to Melody, "Please be careful."

Melody promised, "I will."

Ash urged Pikachu to go with him, "C'mon, Pikachu."

"Pika!" Pikachu said.

The two got on Silver. Silver swam off, since it was much more of a powerful swimmer.

Misty whispered, "Be safe, Ash."

As the group was fighting the airship, more and more Legendaries and Mythicals came. Manaphy came next. Yoni was sending out more floating stones. She wanted to collect Kyogre first. But it was giving her trouble. She gritted her teeth.

She said, "This is going to be harder than I thought."

As she said that, she noticed that the group was attacking her airship. She growled. As if she didn't have enough problems. She was going down but she wasn't going down without a fight.

The computer stated, "30% damage to the airship, Yoni."

Yoni said, "I figured. Let's boost the engine's power."

The computer did as it was told. The engine's power was boosted as she kept going after Kyogre. But the Water type was going faster than she expected. She growled more. She was going to collect them all. No matter what it took. The attacks kept coming at the airship. More Legendaries and Mythical Pokemon appeared to challenge Yoni. Yoni knew what she had to do. So the floating stones she had flew down, trying to slow down the heroes and collect the Pokemon. Melody and Ash both screamed in fear. Pikachu was scared so was Silver. Silver was trying its hardest to avoid them.

Brandon sneered, "Someone has to get up there."

Anabel told him, "Leave that to me." She turned to Looker, "Cover me!"

Looker promised, "I will!"

She turned to Alakazam and commanded, "Teleport me up there, Alakazam!"

"Ala!" It said, teleporting her up to the airship.

Yoni wasn't paying attention to what was happening on the ground. When Anabel appeared into the airship, she quickly went over to the Legendary Birds.

She promised, "Don't worry, I'll get you out."

She grabbed the rope and pulled hard on it. Zapdos watched her carefully. Anabel was gritting her teeth. Zapdos decided to help as it started to break the rope with its beak. Soon enough, the rope broke. Zapdos shrieked happily.

Anabel smiled, "You're free!"

"Not for long!" Anabel turned on her heel, seeing Yoni right behind her. She had a Meowscarada with her. Yoni told her, "You are going down, Salon Maiden!"

Before Anabel could react, Zapdos did. It used its Discharge attack to hold back Yoni and Meowscarada. Anabel was worried but saw this as her chance. She helped Moltres next. She called on her Espeon to help, so she could get them free faster. Espeon worked on getting Articuno free. Zapdos was still battling Meowscarada, using Drill Peck. The Grass/Dark type used Flower Trick. Zapdos shrieked. Just then, Anabel and Espeon freed both Moltres and Articuno. The two of them flew over to help Zapdos. As they all battled together, Anabel and Espeon worked on both Lugia's next.

As the fight continued, the airship was starting to crash land. Anabel saw this and hugged her Espeon tightly. She wasn't going to let her Pokemon get hurt. Both of the Lugia's used Psychic to protect each other and them. The airship crashed. Yoni and Meowscarada were knocked out. Anabel got up, smiling at the two Lugia.

She said, "Thank you both."

Lugia regarded, "You're welcome. And thank you, Salon Maiden."

Anabel told Lugia, "I prefer Anabel."

It was at that moment, Anabel had gotten them free. That's when she heard footsteps coming up from behind her. When she noticed that Espeon wasn't protecting her, she figured that it was one of her friends.

"Anabel! Oh thank goodness!"

Nope, it was Looker. Looker, Alakazam, and Poochyena.

She turned, "Looker?"

Looker came over to her, hugging her tightly. "I'm so glad that you are alright."

Anabel returned the hug, sniffling, "Thank you, Looker."

Looker kissed her head. There was no way he was losing her. Salon Maiden or not. That's when they came out of the airship, hand in hand. Alakazam had teleported Yoni and Meowscarada to International Police HQ. Anabel perked up as she heard that Lugia's song started to play. The rainbow light went away in the water. Both Lugia started to feel better. So did the three Legendary Birds.

Anabel kissed Looker, surprising him. Looker held her close, blushing. As the song played, the birds all started to fly towards the altar. Silver, Melody, Ash, and Pikachu were there. They looked like they had barely made it. Ash waved at the Legendary Birds. He was so glad that it was over. All of the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon were starting to leave. Everything was starting to go back to normal.

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres flew around happily. Lugia offered them a ride back to the others. Ash, Pikachu, and Melody got on. Lugia took off. The second Lugia flew off too as Silver followed in the water. Once they got back to the others, Melody got off and Ash offered his hand to Misty. Misty blushed as she took Ash's hand. The three of them flew around on Lugia's back.

As they flew around, Misty held onto Ash from behind. She wrapped her arms around his waist, making them both blush. Pikachu giggled at them. Ash turned to her, cupping her chin. Misty blushed, looking at him. Ash was blushing too. They moved towards each other, meeting in the middle, and kissed each other. They held each other close as Lugia kept flying. Pikachu just smiled.

uh uhm before research i think tobirama would have oshawott as a starter. they just fit. and hed keep that baby as his best friend 5ever.

and hashirama starter would be snivy. an EXTRA sassy snivy. his bbg. shed smack him with her tail when he was being stupid.

ok ok research time

Tobirama:

Vaporeon - originally this was a joke but the more i thought about it the more i thought it fit. probably evolved on accident. tobirama had a water stone necklace given to him by his late mother. he interpreted the eevee's accidental evolution as a sign. he named her Tsubaki to honor his mother.

Marshadow - sneaky bastard latched on to his shadow when he was visiting the nara for a diplomatic meeting. he didn't notice until two weeks later when he discovered they were the cause of his reoccurring nightmares. lil guy just liked his moves too much. named "Shika" in honor of the nara.

Gyarados - tobirama loves fish of course he'd love fish pokemon too. probably found it as a kid and kept it as a pet until he was given his first pokemon. when he realized he could battle with it he jumped at the chance. its name is Koi.

Samurott-Hisui - not the original oshawott that he started with, but one that he found in a mission to hisui. his original oshawott fucking died. killed by his dad as a punishment for failure. he refuses to give it a name out of fear of growing too attached to it.

Lycanroc-Midnight - gifted to him by his aunt on his birthday, originally just as a rockruff. he didn't mean for her to evolve into her midnight form. wrong place wrong time type deal. he takes her with him on missions with more bloodshed. Laika.

Zoroark-Hisui - also found on his mission to hisui, as a freshly "reborn" zorua. would have killed him if it werent for his lycanroc. they exhausted themselves half to death fighting, and tobirama decided to take pity on the poor thing despite its attempts to end him. it grew attached and refused to leave him alone, so he gave in and caught it. it named itself Rust.

Hashirama:

Sawsbuck - nature deer. what can i say. it fits. he raised it from a fawn after its mother was shot. her name is Bambi because i SAID SO.

Serperior - his 1st pokemon! he loves her soooo much (reminds him of his brother) haha uhh who said that. anyway she sleeps on top of his face at night like a cat. it wakes him up in the middle of the night. he still calls her Snivy despite the fact that she's evolved twice. she doesn't care

Torterra - "Torterra's large and clean shell supports the lives of many small Pokémon, which occasionally gather and build their nests upon the shell. Some are even born and spend their entire lives there." konohagakure parallel. even though his other pokemon can't fit on its shell anymore, they still like to curl up on top of it.

Swampert - mudkip itama found when he was tiny, and asked hashirama to heal. hashirama kept it for itama's memory.

Virizion - smthn smthn fights against humans for pokemon. symbolism? hashirama just attracts legendary pokemon.

Zarude - healing monkey :3 an old man that got abandoned by his pack after sustaining an injury they couldn't heal. hashirama took him in and nursed him back to health, even though he got fucked up from all the biting and yowling in the process. he doesn't fight, even though he wants to.

The Turtwig Family

Starting our proper foray into the Sinnoh region starts us with the new generation’s Grass type starter, as always, bringing us Turtwig! Turtwig is a delightful little turtle, leaning a little more on the realistic side in terms of design than the past shelled starter Squirtle. All for the better, if you ask me, since Turtwig’s beakier face is a lot more charming. Turtwig is also much more of a terrestrial turtle than the water-acclimated type of Squirtle.

Turtwig’s Grass type also comes in nicely with the sprout on its head, the base of which gives Turtwig the appearance of a little patch of hair, which is positively goofy if you’re able to see it that way. Turtwig’s shell is also said to be made of moist, fertile soil, which sets up Turtwig’s evolutionary path nicely.

Turtwig’s first evolution is Grotle, a turtle who’s started to take on a much more prehistoric appearance and grown shrubs from its back. Grotle is a very nice progression from Turtwig, and feels like one of the more solid middle Starter stages. So far, Grass types are the strongest in that department, for what that’s worth.

The yellow plating on Grotle’s back is I think the best part of its design, and blends well with the green of its underbelly and brown accents. It pairs nicely with the spikes on the sides of Grotle’s jaw as well, making the turtle resemble a young Ankylosaurus in appearance.

Turtwig’s evolution culminates in Torterra, a big beastly tortoise with a whole miniature landscape on its back, becoming a Grass/Ground type. This is easily the most recognizable and coolest part of Torterra, since not only does it have a full tree but also a trio of jagged stones meant to resemble mountains. Thanks to this, Torterra is likely based in part on the idea of the World Turtle, an idea in several mythologies of a turtle carrying the Earth on its back.

Something else I like about Torterra is its overall darker color palette. It gives off the impression of Torterra having grown older and stronger from its smaller origins as Turtwig, who had a comparatively brighter palette, resembling its youthfulness. That’s a pretty subtle touch that I think works very well in adding to Torterra’s bigger, matured appearance. The sunken eyes and jagged jaw also help add to the whole beasty saurus feeling too, especially since its head spikes have grown even more prominent.

Torterra has a lot of similarities with Gen 1’s Venusaur, actually, being a quadrupedal Grass-type starter with some type of botanical growth on its back, but I think Torterra comes out on top by just a little bit in my book. Maybe it’s nostalgic bias talking, but something about Torterra’s more reserved appearance and simpler palette always struck my fancy a bit more. It does make a little more sense for a tortoise to carry a tree on its back than it does for a frog to carry a giant flower, anyways.

Torterra is wasted potential in my opinion. It's literally called the continent pokemon. with two metres in height. Sure, when a pokemon is three kilometres tall, it really can't be used in combat, but that's not the point.

What I'm trying to say is that I want to see Torterra that are gigantic. Big mountains that are kilometres long, the ground shaking, creating earthquakes, just because someone needed a drink.

I want to see how people build civilations at a seemingly harmless location, only to realise many years later they were living on a Torterra all along.

I want to see various sizes of Torterra, all living in a big community. I want to see one towering over another, I want to see Torterra living on top of another.

I want to see how mountains move, I want to see how these pokemon affect everything around them, I want to see peaceful giants just vibing.

I want to see the earth shake as literal mountains fight eachother for the most comfortable place, I want to see them sleeping for centuries, only waking up for food or water.

I want to see islands moving, just because the ocean was too cold for Torterra, I want to see islands raising up from the depths of the water.

All I want to say with this is, that Torterra deserves so much more than just two metres. They deserve to be big, they deserve to vibe as gentle giants.

I want to see different bioms on different Torterra backs. I want to see deserts, grasslands, mountains, forests, etc.

Now, there would be some flaws with this, the biggest one(in my opinion) would be that people would need to breed through generations, just to get a Torterra suitable for battle.

Another one would be that there simply isn't enough food for ten ~10km big Torterra to eat. So, there's that. You might argue that pokemon technically don't need to eat, and you're probably right. Adding to the fact that Torterra are plant types, they may be able to perform photosyntesis, so that problem is off the list.

There's some sketches of that concept, I might make more later.

I'm currently playing Pokémon Platinum and I just realized that my team is WAY too underleveled for Byron, so I guess it's time for me to wipe out the local water type population with my Torterra & Luxray

[Korra] [Bolin] [Mako]

Oh I love this. Asami's pokemon team was so much fun to put together. And though Korra is the Avatar, master of the four elements, Asami is quite the wild card herself. I knew that I wanted to focus on steel and electric types for Asami's team (because of her signature weapon and engineering background), but when I finished this ensemble I was pleasantly surprised with the vast variety of types I got into her team without realizing I just did that!

Now to the break down and see how it all ties together.

Magnezone: When I started this team I knew I wanted Asami to have the electric steel dual type Magnemite or Magneton as her first/main pokemon. But then I remembered Magneton can evolve further and I picked Magnezone without a second thought. I love its robotic appearance, the dual typing is perfect just what I was looking for, and it looks way more advanced and powerful than its pre-evolutions. Magnezone is what I picture in my head when thinking about Asami's role as Future Industries' CEO.

Steelix: I see Steelix as a pretty good mode of transportation and a valuable worker at construction sites; two concepts associated with Asami, no doubt. Steelix's primary steel type caught my attention but the secondary ground type was easily welcomed when I thought about Asami's maybe possible Earth Kingdom ancestry. This is how the ground type representing the earth element got into Asami's team.

Pyroar (Female): Besides the steel and electric types, because of Asami being the Krew's resident nonbender, of course I would include the normal type here. And because of the Sato family origin in the Fire Nation colonies I gave Asami the perfect (and only) fire normal dual type Pyroar. She got the female because yes. I also like how Pyroar having distinct male and female forms is a nod to Korra having a male Basculegion in her team, as Basculegion also has distinct male and female forms. And another thing I found interesting about this connection is how Pyroar's types represent Asami (being a nonbender and of Fire Nation descent) like Basculegion's represent Korra (being Water Tribe and the reincarnation of a spirit). I didn't plan this but I love the spontaneous details here and there.

Empoleon: I picked Empoleon because of the secondary steel type and because of its elegant appearance. I see it as representation of Asami's wealthy background and I like it. So what if its primary type is water and I didn't plan for that? This is how the water type representing the water element got into Asami's team. Something I realized about giving Empoleon to Asami is the connection this has with Mako and Bolin. With Mako having Infernape, Bolin having Torterra, and Asami having Empoleon; these three each has one starter pokemon of the same generation and I love this! Why? Because Mako, Asami, and Bolin are the three friends Korra makes in Republic City. Korra is the Avatar, the reincarnation of a past life, in a way she comes from the past. Asami, Mako, and Bolin are born and raised in Republic City, a city representing progress and the future. Korra has the starter Blaziken in her team and Blaziken is from the generation before Torterra, Infernape, and Empoleon. Get it? I was completely mind blow by these details, you have no idea!

Eevee: When looking at more electric types to give to Asami I thought of Jolteon. But Flarion looks as appealing for Asami's team as the electric type. I thought of giving Asami a Glaceon because this Eeveelution looks elegant and beautiful like Miss Sato. But Leafeon is pretty looking too and its grass type could be one more nod to Asami's possible Earth Kingdom ancestry. As you can read I couldn't decide on an Eeveelution; therefore the cute pure normal type it is! I don't regret this decision.

Zapdos (Galar): And finally, Asami's legendary pokemon. The fighting flying dual type Galarian Zapdos. I can't describe how perfect I think this option for Asami's legendary pokemon is- No, wait. I actually can! I said before I was looking for more electric types for Asami's team and I decided on Zapdos because not only is an electric type but also a flying type. Asami is a great pilot and she has provided Team Avatar of aerial support when needed. Also I didn't mind that I was consciously getting a flying type representing the air element into her team. Asami was going to have fire and air in her team on purpose, water and earth were a surprise. And that's how Asami, just like Korra, got all the four elements into her team. But this is not how this ended. I took one last look at Asami's team and thought that I gave Asami a team representing many aspects of her character: intellectual prowess with engineering (steel and electric types), ethnicity (fire and ground types), nonbender nature (normal types), pilot ability (flying type)... But something was still missing. Korra, Mako, and Bolin all had fighting types in their teams, and Asami is a competent fighter as well. So where was her fighting type pokemon? I took a look at her team and thought of what I could change; and I remembered Zapdos has a regional form that changes its electric type for fighting. I didn't mind changing Zapdos' type because of two reasons: 1- Galarian Zapdos is my favorite of the Galarian legendary birds, and 2- Now Asami shares one more detail with Korra in that both have a Galarian pokemon in their teams. Asami has Zapdos and Korra has Stunfisk.

The end. Wow, this was a lot of work but worth it! I had a lot of fun with these and the important thing is that I'm happy with all of them, imperfections and all.

Here is what pokemons I think they could have in their team.

Chris Kratt

He would prefer plant type pokemons or ones that can follow him climb a tree

Sprigatito (or any of his unrevealed evolutions) or Shinx because he's a cat person

Torterra because TREE

Pokémon Crossover AU

Been working on some Pokémon crossover AU ideas for all my stories lately, mostly starting out as just team ideas for my characters before I thought about how they would fit into the world of Pokémon. Since my novel characters here are from a more fantasy/royalty setting, this was an especially fun and interesting challenge trying to rework them into a more “modern” setting. I have always low-key wanted to imagine a “modern AU” for my novel characters, and after making this AU for them I might actually consider doing it sometime(even if I don’t do much with it).

One detail about this AU(that I don’t get into much below) to mention is just like in their original story, I imagine they would all be from different regions in the world. The only one I have figured out is Brooke being from Paldea, just because it is based off of the Iberian Peninsula and Brooke is Spanish, so it was the most fitting for him. Other than him, I still need to figure out where the others would be from.

But yeah, I hope you enjoy! :3

- Tia

. Works primarily with fire types and focuses on having a strong relationship with her Pokémon rather than having super "strong" ones

. On her team she has Honedge, Victini, Litwick, Fennekin, Armarouge, and Talonflame

. When she comes of age she sets off to become a master herself, to prove all her doubters wrong(who did not want her to participate in battles)

. Originally sets off by herself, before eventually teaming up with her brother to travel together

- Maya

. Works with a few different types but mainly prefers fairy and flying

. On her team she has Clefairy, Azumarill, Togekiss, Buneary, Vivillon, and Comfey

. Comes from a famous family consisting of coordinators and performers, with her having a specific focus on dance

. Doesn't have any super big aspirations beyond that, but she does support her older sister in her goals

- Brooke

. Works primarily with water types and prefers more "scary" Pokémon(not wanting to focus soley on 'cuter' ones)

. On his team he has Sharpedo, Poliwrath, Quaquaval, Gyarados, Veluza, and Barraskewda

. From Paldea, his family(mostly just his mother, as his father doesn't care either way) has been mostly against battling, instead focusing more on 'higher' pursuits for humans

. He never wanted to hide his interest in Pokémon and battling, so when he became of age he did all he could to convince his mother to let him go out and travel the world, promptly becoming rivals with Nate after first meeting and battling him at the beginning of his journey(but doesn't take their rivalry all that seriously)

- Gaia

. Works primarily with grass types and likes working with both "scary" and "cute" Pokémon

. On her team she has Tangrowth, Torterra, Victreebel, Meganium, Carnivine(nicknamed "Audrey"), and Arboliva

. Her family has always had professions that focus on helping trainers foster good relationships with their Pokémon, with Gaia setting out to travel and meet as many as possible(as she has always been a curious and adventurous person)

. She's not really focused on becoming a top trainer or champion or anything like that, but she does take an interest in becoming a researcher as she would like to learn more about the world

The fundamental problem with Pokemon starters' visual design isn't about quadrupedalism or bipedalism.

The design of a fictional monster can be roughly categorized as Critter, Beast, Object, Abomination, or Guy. A Critter is friend-shaped, animal-like in its design, and usually relatively small, but not necessarily weak. A Beast is animalistic in design but very much not friend-shaped: it's larger and has a more intimidating/threatening appearance. An Object makes you go "okay that's just a thing that happens to be alive / moving / sentient." An Abomination is something so completely different from a human or from familiar animals that it doesn't really invoke anything with an emotional connection unless it's in a weird uncanny valley way. And a Guy is anything that makes you go "Okay that's just a dude."

Using non-Pokemon examples, a jackalope is a Critter. Momo from ATLA is a Critter. The Loch Ness Monster is a Beast. Appa is a Beast. The Luggage from Discword is an Object. Ebrietas from Bloodborne is an Abomination. Bigfoot is a Guy.

Pokemon has many examples of all the types other than Abomination, but if you look at the final forms of the main series Fire/Grass/Water starters...

Gen 1: Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard are all Beasts.

Gen 2: Meganium and Typhlosion are Beasts, Feraligatr is kind of verging on being a Guy.

Gen 3: Swampert is a Beast, Blaziken is a Guy, Sceptile is really on the border between Beast and Guy.

Gen 4: Empoleon and Torterra are Beasts, but Infernape is definitely a Guy.

Gen 5: Serperior is a Beast, Samurott is a Beast, Emboar is a Guy.

Gen 6: Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja are all Guys.

Gen 7: Incineroar is definitely a Guy, and Decidueye and Primarina are at best extremely Guy-like Beasts.

Gen 8: Rillaboom, Inteleon, and Cinderace are all Guys.

Gen 9: If current leaks are to be believed, Fuecoco's final form is a Beast, but Quaxley's final form is a Guy, as is Meowscarada.

There is a definite trend of the starters' final forms moving towards Guy in more recent generations. In generations 1-3, around 1-3 of the nine starter final forms are Guys depending on how you classify Feraligatr and Sceptile. In generations 4-6, five of them are Guys. In generations 7-9, at least six of them, and possibly eight, are Guys.

Meanwhile, throughout every generation there are consistently zero (0) starter Pokemon that remain Critters even in their final form out of this group. Obviously there are two exceptions to this, Pikachu and Eevee, but they have significant mechanical differences to other starters. At no point can you go "okay, this playthrough I think I'll choose a first pokemon that remains a small adorable little creature throughout the game but becomes powerful enough to kick a god's ass" without either mechanically handicapping yourself or buying an entirely separate game.

So who wants to hear my ideas for PLA-esque Regional Starter Variants for Orre? That's right, you do. C'mere.

So starting off on my process of choosing which Pokémon to use, I decided not to use any of the starters from the first 3 gens, because that would raise the question of why couldn't they appear in the original Orre games? I also didn't want to use any of the generations that had a variant of their starter show up in Legends Arceus. So that left me with three Generations: Generation 4, Generation 6, and Generation 8.

After that, I decided on some of the themes I wanted for these starters. Orre is based on Phoenix, Arizona, but it also pulls from Gambling quite heavily (See: Realgam Tower). So I decided on two themes rather quickly: Cowboys, and Neon. I also kept with the new tradition of having the starters' secondary types form a type triangle, and I decided on Fairy > Fighting > Steel > Fairy. After this, with some help, I came up with the final theme: Mining and, to a lesser extent, ghost towns.

Eventually I settled on Three Pokémon: The Highly-Lit, neon palm tree, Grass-Fairy type Orrean Torterra. The boom-and-bust, mystic miner, Fire-Steel type Orrean Delphox. And the just, lone wanderer, Water-Fighting Orrean Inteleon. I'll probably make dedicated posts for each of them soon.

Specifically the third arc, I just love the concept of HiveWings, SilkWings, and LeafWings. But the last two books sorta spiraled into absurdity for me, I would have preferred a simple rebellion story, not a "the world is in danger and we have to save it!" type story. But overall, the third arc is still my favorite.

How I discovered I was a dragon:

Saphira (movie version) helped me figure out what I look like! While I'm not part of the Eragon universe, I share many physical traits with Saphira. Sometimes when I hyperfixate on dragon stuff, it makes me question whether it's a kintype or not, so I usually have to wait for the hyperfixation to fade before I can really tell. Usually, it means this kintype-like feeling fades with the hyperfixation. Not so with my silver Saphira-like form! This feeling of "this is me, this is who I am" stuck around after my interest in the movie faded.

How I discovered I was a goddess:

My MaDD (maladaptive daydreaming disorder) is a huge part of this. For many years now, my daydream world hasn't changed much. While the narrative changes frequently (on a daily basis), some characters and locations have become permanent, they're always part of my daydreams, they're always a part of me.

My husband King Solaris of the Angels (whom I miss very much), my doctor Corvus, the silver knights, the stone wyverns, the Lunar Sea, the forests, the mountains... these are all permanent.

In this world, also exists my idealized self. The goddess of Latria. The silver dragon. The goddess of souls and magic.

This idealized version of myself is permanent, and hasn't changed for many years. Which leads me to believe I am her in some way. I know, it sounds bizarre, or wrong, but that's how I feel. I am her. I... can't change that.

(Back when I was a kid, I could change my daydream self whenever I wanted, but that doesn't seem possible anymore)
