The fact I honestly thought I'd pull off playing College Craze and being normal about it, and then less than a week later I've already played it multiple times, made a duel MC au, a Pinterest board, and recreated some of the PopMe pages, is genuinely not lost on me.

Maybe it's the result of my main fandom for the majority of my life being one where canon just genuinely doesn't exist, where there are so many different canons and literally any sort of interpretation of a single character is correct and can range from a moronic maniac with a chainsaw to a depressed old asshole boss, but

Especially when the character is practically a blank slate or if it's an AU

Like, I'm sorry, but if you're butthurt about a mischaracterisation of a fictional character in an Alternative Universe then I don't think you understand what an AU is

#thylacines can talk #Maybe that's the reason I do not have the same violent reaction to mischaracterisation 99% of fandom spaces seems to have #I genuinely think that getting butthurt over somebody not writing a fictional character exactly how they appear in canon is the stupidest #most juvenile pet peeve you could ever have. Literally WHY do you care so much? It's words on a screen. Calm down.#I think it's only a problem when you believe that it's canon or try to shove your own interpretation of a character or AUs onto everybody #else. Otherwise...literally who cares? Somebody else treating characters like dolls is not hurting me. I'm not about to get legitimately #annoyed over fictional characters in a children's cat book. Unless it's like. Bigoted. But then I criticise the person's beliefs not a #goddammed characterisation of a fictional character.#In the fandom I was in most of my life a trigger-happy clown with a chainsaw canon and an old deppressed asshole boss were seen as the same #character and only had like. One design detail in common. And literally nobody batted an eye. You could write a dynamic between two #characters being incredibly hateful and toxic and somebody else could write them as old friends or an old married couple and both of these #interpretations would be equally canon. A single guy could have two wildly different personalities and backstories and he'd still be #treated like the same character as long as the two looked vaguely similar physically wise. Sure there were interpretations of characters #that were more popular than others but literally the only people who would treat one specific interpretation as canon and shove that #interpretation onto everybody else would be people who came from different kinds of fandoms and let me tell you. They were annoying as fuck #So coming from that kind of fandom into more generic mainstream fandoms feels like such a culture shock. Genuinely cannot comprehend why #people care so much.#'oh this character is so far from canon they might as well make an oc' okay...cool...and?#Maybe they don't want to make an oc?? I mean come on. It's fictional characters. You're an adult. It's not a fucking English class #People don't come to fandoms to study book literacy they come here to have fun. Literally WHO CARES if somebody's interpretation of a #character has only name and looks common with the canon version. WHO CARES. ITS WORDS ON THE SCREEN. I've come to the conclusion that when it comes to new characters I have the same attitude as a poorly socialized dog. I swear every time new content comes around and we get the news of new characters my instant reaction is to just. Dislike them. Hope they have little to no importance in the plot. Even when the design looks nice and the characters seem interesting. They're taking screen time away from my faves and my heart tells me to Bite

#this isnt even about the Thing. Its about Astrid #that cool and interesting looking old lady #(im assuming thats her name its what ive seen people use)#Im pretty sure there's something ot be said about my autism here #i dont want things to change. I dont want to risk the show taking a turn for the worse and becoming Insane #if it were up to me #s2 would have just been a reprise of s2 while focusing on different things #and s3 would be a reprise of s2 #which means ofc that the show wouldn't be nearly as compelling as it is. that' why i trust the writers #but at the same time I HAAAAAATE CHANGE #I think the longer hiatuses contribute to this. Ok there r some pretty big things I wanna fix with the first chapter of ITNL, but I don't rly have the brain for that. Putting it on the backburner.

Might fuck around with chapter 2 tho. Just maybe.

#speculation nation #itnl shit #desperately need a revamp for chapter 1 bc it's good at its core but it was also written and posted all in one day #and U can tell. a lot of early itnl was like that.#man at this rate im treating the fic as a whole like a WIP chapter #aka im going to be going thru it all and doing incremental changes and touch ups #all in this separate doc. current version of itnl will remain until i have it all smoothed out #ill let u guys know when i actually get around to doing the mass edit changes #again im not changing the overall structure of the story. just addressing some internal inconsistencies #and canon innacuracies #so like itnl is good as it is but im going to make it Better.#the perfectionist in me is showing its colors lol. but 75k isnt that big of a deal to edit tbh #especially since everything's already passed the general grammar and wording edits #taking things from passable to Great #yes this is making itnl 15 take longer than otherwise. but i think itll be worth it.#given that ive recently reread trimax in its entirety #there are a lot of things i remember better. so a lot of things to fix with itnl.#plus im in a better state of mind to dig my fingers into the grit of it and write things Well #getting back into the ITNL story by improving it so that it's the best it can be.#which will get me back into the groove of it. so when it comes time to write itnl 15 #im going to be a well-oiled machine. and i can churn out something that does the chapter justice.#this is a major turning point of the story. i Have to do it justice.#all i ask is that readers be patient. xoxoxo love y'all
