I am vaguely offended [joking] about the number of people declaring my favorite snack disgusting in this poll.
It's a good snack! You get a crisp, clear, refreshing taste that's sometimes a little bitter, smoothed out and given weight with a savory nut butter that can combat that occasional bitterness, and then give it a little twist of sweetness with the raisins. It's so good!
Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!
(Unless you're allergic. Then don't try it. Do not hospitalize yourself for a snack.)
(You are exempt if you viciously hate one of the component parts, but if you're neutral to all of them then please try it. I don't even like celery that much on its own, but it is so good with peanut butter and raisins, give it a shot.)

Aurum Leuci’s Log:
[Begin recording.] Hello? Hello, hello? Is this thing on? Okay. That was a close one. Your machine is totally broken, man. This time I ended up in a mall… arcade… thing. With an actual kitchen. I unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity to try and fix the portal generator, because there are GIANT SCARY ROBOTS that for some reason want pizza. I MADE pizza. I don’t know how they’re eating it. But they sure are.
Look, I know you’re getting these transmissions, it wouldn’t let me record more if you weren’t, but I’m not getting anything back from you. I need instructions, or a plan, or something. ANYTHING to make sure I’m not jumping aimlessly across spacetime until I inevitably get eaten by something or other. Please. I want to bring my findings home… At least this pizza is pretty good for a weird robot-infested mall. Aurum Leuci out. [End log.]
Please see this post for my full review scale!
Main Dish: Funtime Foxy’s 3-Cheese Veggie Surprise
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 3/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 23/25
This pizza… was incredible. Aside from the sauce (see the bonus reviews for that), it was easy, it was delicious, and it gets bonus points for being somewhat easy to make plant based. For full disclosure, I didn’t use the Taleggio cheese (and also forgot to add parsley, but who cares about parsley?) and substituted in Miyoko’s plant-based Mozzarella spread instead— so ours was kind of a two-cheese veggie surprise (parmesan and mozz) but it was incredible. I would never have thought to put zucchini on a pizza, but it definitely impressed me. The only reason this pizza loses points is that I don’t think Fazbear Entertainment would serve something this high-quality!
Side Dish: Garlicky Pizza Twirls with Spicy Dip
RATING:
Difficulty: 5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 5/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 4/5
TOTAL RATING: 24/25
I’ve been looking forward to tackling this recipe since I got this book as a gift. And it DELIVERED! Like the main dish, I also forgot the parsley on this one (silly me, completely forgetting the existence of parsley) but I really don’t think it would have added anything. These twirls, complete with fresh ingredients and a homemade spicy sauce (using the easyplex sauce as a base) absolutely feel like a delicious arcade snack. My only complaint (and this may have been something that I did wrong) is that I don’t think this recipe really makes 10 pizza twirls. The two on either end of the dough log came out completely devoid of cheese or sauce— still delicious, but not a pizza twirl. Just a bread twirl.
BONUS REVIEWS: Pizzaplex Master Dough, Easyplex Pizza Sauce
Pizzaplex Master Dough:
RATING:
Difficulty: 3/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 3/5
Time: 5/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 21/25
This recipe, despite not getting a perfect score, came out pretty great. I don’t have any real notes on it, just that I don’t think Fazbear Entertainment would make their dough fresh in-house, and also that yeast is really hard to work with. If you’re ever using yeast for anything, just… please look up instructions on the internet. Your cookbook cannot help you. (Same with proofing your yeast. Look it up. King Arthur Flour has a really good walkthrough.) In terms of at-home cooking, though, this recipe was relatively simple, and really, really delicious. And it makes enough for 4 pizzas (or 3 pizzas and a delicious batch of pizza twirls.)
Easyplex Pizza Sauce:
RATING:
Difficulty: 1/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Immersion: 1/5
Time: 2/5
End Result: 5/5
TOTAL RATING: 14/25
OH MY GODS, this sauce. Okay. Okay, so. It’s really good, it tasted great and was versatile (I used it in the pizza twirls, the main pizza, and the sauce for the pizza twirls) but, like… The only step is “mash canned tomatoes through a sieve with a spoon and mix in the tomato paste and spices! See how simple!” and IT IS NOT SIMPLE. YOU WILL MASH THE TOMATOES FOR AN HOUR. Your hands will hurt. You will regret your life choices. Your sieve will take as long to clean as the tomatoes took to mash. You could have just bought and seasoned pre-mashed tomato sauce. It was right next to the can of tomatoes you bought. Freddy Fazbear Entertainment is not making their restaurant staff MASH TOMATOES.
The sauce was good, but once I run out of the other half of this batch of it (probably this weekend, since I’m making another pizza) I’m just going to buy canned tomato sauce and season it the same way. I’m not that much of a gourmet.
Tune in on Friday (6/14/24) for another fandom cookbook review!

I'm here to talk about this educational short but as it's a dry one, and there's an MTS3K of it, I'm giving you that one.
Anyway, I find this short fascinating. It's all about how being able to eat food from far away is neat and you should be excited to do it, basically.
A few notes of particular interest:
The first version of this short (which I've never seen) was from 1939; this one is from 1954. While I don't have the full history of WHY this short was made, both of those timestamps are interesting. In 1939, as the US was coming out of the Depression, it's likely a lot of people were getting food sourced from unknown places for the first time in their lives, and an educational short like this (that likely played at the movies before the main feature) would have explained to them what was up. The fact it was updated in 1954 is also interesting. We were well out of rationing by that point, but I think maybe it was updated because a lot of people were moving from rural areas to industrial areas for work opportunities, and a lot of farm people who'd always known where their food came from suddenly didn't know.
While I can't say what was or wasn't updated between the two editions, the riff of "Did people really need to be convinced about cars at this point?" does a great job finding a spot where an update SHOULD have happened. Not just because my 1954 the US was well into car culture but also because the truck that drives by is clearly pre-war (split windshield is usually a good indicator).
I also think the update was done to focus on how the food stayed fresh during travel because the refrigerated truck only came into being after WW2, so likely this was a push to assure people the food was safe in them.
The implicit acceptance of using migrant workers for harvest is fascinating as someone who has basically always lived in a "they took the jobs!" era of how some people look at migrant labor. Here, it's just stated as what you do to get your crops picked.
The opening narration that just full-out wiped out the fact that pioneer families spent all spring and summer canning so they could have veggies in the winter is just an amazing thing to try and re-write history on. A shit ton of people were still home-canning every season in 1954. To have been in the theater to see first reactions from farm kids hearing that pioneers didn't have winter veggies would have probably been funny.
Anyway, I just find this video interesting, and the MST3K gang do their usual good work, so I hope you had fun with my ramblings.

KING OF SIAM MASSAMAN CURRY (19th c.)
I've recently gone through a curry phase, so thought I would give a proper homemade one a go. So, I decided my next Tasting History dish would be the King of Siam Massaman Curry, a 19th century Thai recipe penned by Thanphuying Kleeb Mahidhorn, who grew up in the Grand Palace during the reign of King Rama V (Chulalongkorn) of Siam. She learned to cook many of the dishes served at the Palace, and this is one that was passed down through the generations to Rosalind Yunibandhu, who published the cookbook this can be found in, Petals of the Champaka: Recipes To Teach My Children And Grandchildren, in 2021. I chose to make this recipe because I am already a massive fan of Thai food, and I thought it would be an interesting experience to see exactly what ingredients and methods go into making a curry fit for a king completely from scratch. Usually, I just buy curry paste, but not today! See Max’s video on how to make it here or see the ingredients and process at the end of this post, sourced from his website.
My experience making it:
I did my best to stick exactly to this recipe, but due to the long ingredient list, I inevitably had to make a few changes based on my location and what's available here. My ability to make this dish is entirely thanks to my local Asian grocer, which supplied me with several ingredients I had never cooked with before and are near impossible to find elsewhere (tamarind juice, galangal, shrimp paste, lemongrass... the list goes on!). I couldn't find medium spice red chili peppers that weren't those little Thai ones Max says not to use, so I ended up finding some green medium spicy chili peppers from Turkey. Among about 7 brands at the Asian grocer, I couldn't seem to find a coconut cream without emulsifiers, so I used the coconut oil tip Max mentions in his notes. Weirdly, I also couldn't find unsalted roasted peanuts at several local grocery stores, so I ended up using salted ones (I don't think this affected the taste too severely). My last change to the ingredients was using chopped red bell peppers instead of half the chicken, because I wanted to sneak another veggie into the recipe. The chicken is mostly a vessel for the curry sauce, so I figured, why not add another vessel?
The process for this King of Siam recipe, because it is a curry completely from scratch, took me 2.5-3 hours to make. I do cook at a bit of a slower pace in general, I think, but because this was a new and very complex recipe, it took me even longer than it should have. I first focused on making the curry paste, which required lots of fine chopping, roasting, and then grinding with the mortar and pestle (I don't have a spice grinder). Because I tired of grinding quite quickly, I don't think I got my curry paste quite as smooth and uniform as Max's, but the flavours are the most important, I think. My resulting curry paste looked less like a paste, and more like salsa verde - thanks to the green chili peppers mostly. However, it smelled divine! Next, on to the main curry. I seared the chicken lightly on all sides, set it aside, then added the coconut cream to my wok. Because my coconut cream had emulsifiers, I added a bit of coconut oil, gave it a mix, and after a minute or two it cracked and bubbled just as Max's did. I continued adding the rest of the ingredients as called for, but when it was time to add in my curry paste, I was a little miffed that my curry paste didn't really dissolve well into the coconut milk/cream. Mine was a bit too chunky, so there were bits floating in the sauce and bits that sank to the bottom. As a result, I had to keep stirring to prevent those bits from caking and cooking right onto the bottom of the wok. Eventually, the curry paste did dissolve more. I added in the chicken and bell peppers, and began the long simmer. During this time, Max says the curry sauce will naturally darken and thicken a bit. His turned almost a dark red colour, perhaps due to the red chili peppers he used. Mine seemed to turn a grey-beige colour, maybe due to the green chilis I used, but it never got that dark. Near the end of the simmering, I cooked up some jasmine rice and warmed up some Turkish Pide bread in the oven to dip into the sauce. A bit of an interesting mix of cultures on the plate, but let's just say I was matching the bread with the Turkish chilis I used. I served it up in a shareable casserole dish, and poured me and my husband a glass each of the leftover tamarind juice - I had taken a sip while cooking and found it really tasty! I was so proud of how this dish turned out, because it took ages to make, used tons of new-to-me ingredients, and it did look like a Thai curry, even if it didn't look like Max's King of Siam Massaman Curry.
My experience tasting it:
I first tried a tiny spoonful of just the curry sauce. It was super tasty! It actually tasted really close to how a yellow curry from a Thai restaurant tastes. I was shocked at how similar, especially because the colour was quite different. For my second bite, I added some sauce, chicken, and bell pepper on top of some jasmine rice and took a bite with all those elements. The chicken was so tender and held the curry flavour really well. I was so glad I added the bell peppers, too, because they added a nice freshness. The taste of the curry was very complex, the texture was creamy, and it only had a light spice. It was amazing how so many unique and often overpowering ingredients came together to form this complete new flavour where you can't pick out any of those ingredient flavours individually. It was absolutely delicious and rich. My husband and I polished off the entire King of Siam Massaman Curry, even sopping up what was left of the sauce with our bread until the dish was nearly clean. I had meant to keep some for the day after, since Max says the flavours really intensify if you let it sit in the fridge overnight, but that was just not going to happen - it was too tasty. While this recipe is definitely a winner, I don't know if I will ever make it again, only because of how long it took to make and how many ingredients it took to make (many of which either expensive or not easy to come by in my part of the world). Neither of these issues are anything the King of Siam would have to worry about, so I totally see why this recipe was a hit with King Rama V. You guessed it, I will continue to buy pre-packaged curry paste, despite the deliciousness of this dish. If you end up making this dish, if you liked it, or if you changed anything from the original recipe, do let me know!
Links to harder-to-find ingredients:
Sorry... too many in this one, and Max didn't provide any links on where to get them. I may come back later and update this section if I find some online sources for the harder-to-find ingredients.
King of Siam Massaman Curry original recipe (19th c.)
Sourced from Petals of the Champaka: Recipes To Teach My Children And Grandchildren, published in 2021 using recipes by Thanphuying Kleeb Mahidhorn from her timeliving in the palace of the King of Siam in the 19th century.
Pound chilies, shallots, garlic, coriander seeds and cumin together with shrimp paste, galangal, lemongrass, [cardamom, cloves] and a little roasted coconut, to a fine paste. Squeeze the coconut milk, separating the cream from the milk. Simmer the coconut cream until the oil separates out. Cut chicken into large pieces, pan-fry in oil until golden brown. Add the curry paste and stir until fragrant. Add the coconut milk together with the roasted peanuts [and cinnamon bark]. Simmer until tender, add fish sauce, sugar, tamarind juice, small shallots, bay leaf. Add 2-3 slices of ginger upon removing from the stove.
Modern Recipe
Based on Petals of the Champaka: Recipes To Teach My Children And Grandchildren, published in 2021 using recipes by Thanphuying Kleeb Mahidhorn from the 19th century, and Max Miller’s version in his Tasting History video.
Ingredients:
Curry Paste
1 tbsp coriander seeds
2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp grated coconut
4 cloves
1 tsp cardamom seeds (from cardamom pods)
3 tbsp chopped shallots
6 to 7 cloves of garlic
1 tbsp chopped lemongrass
1 tbsp peeled and sliced galangal
7 chili peppers*, dried or fresh, seeds removed
1 tsp shrimp paste
Curry
2 pounds (1 kg) chicken thigh or beef, cut into 1 1/2” pieces
2-3 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 cup coconut cream**
2 cups coconut milk (canned)
1/4 cup unsalted roasted peanuts
1 stick cassia cinnamon
2 tbsp fish sauce
3 tbsp (50 g) palm sugar
3 tbsp tamarind juice
1/2 cup shallots, chopped
3 bay leaves
3 slices of peeled ginger, about 1/8” thick
*As this dish isn’t meant to be spicy, don’t use small Thai chilies. Any mild chili will work, just remove the seeds and you’re good to go.
**Be sure to get coconut cream that doesn’t contain any emulsifiers, or this won’t work (the only ingredient should be coconut cream). Be sure to read the ingredients list. If this is unavailable to you, you can add some coconut oil to the cream, it just won’t taste quite the same.
Method:
For the curry paste: Put the coriander seeds, cumin seeds, grated coconut, cloves, and cardamom seeds into a dry pan over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about 3 to 4 minutes or until it is fragrant and the coconut is lightly browned. Remove from the pan and let cool.
Grind the spice mixture into a powder in a spice grinder or very clean coffee grinder, then set aside.
Remove the seeds from the chilies, wearing gloves if desired to protect hands from the spice. Roughly chop the chilies.
Add the shallots, garlic, lemongrass, galangal, and chilies to a dry pan over medium-high and cook, stirring constantly until the ingredients develop a bit of char.
Add the chilies mixture to a mortar and pestle grind with the shrimp paste. This will take a while and is best done by hand in order to properly release the oils.
Add the spice mixture and continue to grind until it is as smooth as you can get (it won’t be completely smooth).
For the curry: Melt the coconut oil in a pan over medium heat and add the chicken. Cook until browned and set aside.
While the chicken cooks, pour the coconut cream into a separate pan over medium heat and simmer until the oil separates out (cracking).
Once you see oil bubbles on the surface of the cream, it has cracked. Add the curry paste and stir until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
Add the coconut milk and bring to a simmer.
Add the chicken, peanuts, and cinnamon stick. Simmer until the chicken is tender, about 30 to 45 minutes.
Add fish sauce, palm sugar, tamarind juice, shallots, and bay leaves. Simmer on low for 1 hour. It will darken as it cooks.
Taste and adjust seasonings if needed, then take it off the heat and add the ginger.
Cover and put in the fridge overnight to develop the flavors, or serve it forth right away with rice.

Oh what about Farmer with a horse girl? Does he have horses. My dream is to basically be a hometeader so I keep wondering what his farm has.
Oh yeah, he has horses!! Ok, so this is how I view his farm. He has the homestead of cause, which is this pale yellow colour (for some reason? it's not even a colour I like, but it's what I imagined it as when I wrote the first one). It's two stories with a wrap-around porch and has big white shutters with those pretty shaped cut-outs.
Then the infamous barn is the stereotypical red and white barn. But it's seen better days. The red is more of a dull/brownish red and the white has chipped away and now it's more wood than paint.
I see him having a few fields of wheat/barley. This is more of a way to feed his animals rather than a profit. But if he has enough left over he will sell.
His main profit is his bulls. I don't see him being able to sell cattle for meat or anything too intensive. It's mostly just him and he only gets seasonal workers to help with the harvest or just when he needs them. So instead he runs a bull stud. Breeding the best bulls in the state. It's a small operation but he charges a hefty price for quality so it works. He has about 2 bulls he keeps for 4-5 years before replacing them, and about 30-50 cows/heifers depending on the season.
Then he has his pigs, thats how his father made his money breeding boars, but pigs are noisy as all hell, so the farmer has it more as a side project rather than the main source of income. He has a pair he keeps and he then sells the litter.
Then he has his chickens, a good 20 of them. One big red rooster and all the rest hens. He sells the eggs he doesn't want either as produce or as incubator eggs. He has this huge chicken coop he built himself.
Then he has one or two dairy cows. He breeds them with his bulls and shares the milk with the calf. Or sells the calf depending on if it's a bull calf. Doesn't sell the milk, but uses it for himself (after pasteurisation of course). He'll most likely sell the heifer calf later on.
Then there are the horses. He doesn't have many. Maybe one or two and they're used as transport mainly through his fields or to round up the cattle. They aren't anything special either just quarter horses, but they get the job done. I can see the horse girl reader just falling in love with them and getting mad when they find out he calls them Horse, and Also Horse. Reader will braid their hair and beg farmer to let them go for rides. He agrees as long as he's with them.
Then he's got a cat that just roams around. He doesn't even own it really. It just showed up and never left.
Then there are his working dogs. If I hadn't implied he was from the Us south/Texas, I would have given him kelpies. They are the best working dogs! At least in my biased australian opinion. I was thinking of giving him cattle dogs (blue/red heelers), cause they are recognised in the States but cause his cattle are breeding stock he won't want the dogs to be overly aggressive and bite their heels (they can be trained out of them but easier to get another breed).
Ok, I did some googling and cause I have three kelpies myself, I'm giving him some. I don't care if the us doesn't recognise the breed (rude) but it's not unheard of for them to be used in the States. So yay! Anyway, he only has two cause he has such a small herd. They aren't inside dogs cause they are primarily working dogs so they get this nice kennel outside. And cause I love country music and by extension, he does too, they are called Pancho and Lefty.
He also has a veggie garden and grows most of his own food. If you are a vego/vegan DO NOT go into the small shed out the back. That chicken he took in there does not come back out alive.
Anyway! Hope you liked it. I got a bit over the top

New “budget” Commander cards: Lord of the Rings: Colorless and lands
We've reached the end of the colors! Now off to generic cards, and then we can take a look at the multicolor options. They are numerous so I might group them in batches or make multiple posts just for multicolor options. Tell me what you think I should do for those in the notes!
You know these by now, we'll go color by color, mixing main set and commander set. Reprints can be included if they brought the price down under our bar. All the cards presented here are under $2 at time of writing. Cards will be evaluated as part of the 99, even legendary creatures.
Tumblr media
This card isn't very good, but it ensures everyone at the table gets to at least play the game. With most games proceeding clockwise, it'll be painfully slow to get around the table if the player needing help is on your left though. Still, an easy include if you want to make some friends or are running the likes of Zedruu or Blim. Oh, also much better after an Aeon Engine, not that it makes either of them good cards, it's just a fun thought.
Tumblr media
Ignore the first strike ability, this equipment gives you FIVE untaps of whatever you put it on per turn cycle and haste. If your commander (or enough of your deck) has an instant speed tap ability, this is a new staple, one of the best sources of untaps out there.
Tumblr media
This one is quite the mana investment to get going, though doubling a board of tokens every turn is fun at the very least. Given the token created on ETB, this is a decent option for human and tokeny decks, just be aware that it takes a while, a lot of mana and a lot of board wipes dodged to start doing stupid things.
Tumblr media
This is NOT a new design idea by any stretch, but cheap graveyard-hate artifacts you can crack have been a healthy part of decks since Tormod's Crypt in The Dark. This new one is quite good, not quite as broad or efficient as some other options, Soul-Guide Lantern is still the gold standard. With that said, it has its upsides too, not only dealing with graveyards but also passively stopping all opposing death triggers, including from tokens, which against some aristocraty decks is a back-breaking ability for a 1 drop with extra upside. It's a one drop so you can also get it with Urza's saga, and it never affects you like a Relic of Progenitus would.
Most decks probably would benefit from having at least one or two of these cycling graveyard hate artifacts, but it's never the most fun include. Be a responsible player, eat your veggies, and pack some graveyard hate, and no, Bojuka Bog and Scavenger Grounds aren't enough by themselves.
Tumblr media
We've seen a lot of "attack with two creatures, draw a card" lately, particularly in mono-white with Chivalric Alliance and Glimmer Lens in back to back sets, both at two mana. This is another option that can go in any color, does that, can draw more than one card a turn if you attack different players with 2+ creatures each (though I don't think that'll happen often). It offers additional card selection but only ever draws creatures, but if you're running this you should have enough that that's an upside. It's a powerful and cheap tools for aggressive (particularly go wide) decks to avoid running out of gas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two lands tell you what they want, they're solid and cheap fixing additions for legendary-focused decks. Neither of them is quite a new Plaza of Heroes, but also they're a dirt cheap common and uncommon. Not much more to say here.
Tumblr media
A new three mana mana rock with upside! It's alright, most decks probably don't want it. It's one of the best cards in a handful of decks that can abuse it, Evra and Eruth come to mind, but most of the time, it's just a Manalith that'll very rarely draw you a card. If you can make that happen more often though, either because you're chugging through your entire hand often or because you're wheeling* and dealing, it might be worth a slot. I know I might try it in Jaxis because I often rummage through my last card and draw two or three more cards at end of turn, and getting extras would be pretty neat. Not sure if it won't end up cut in a month, but I'll try. The lifegain mode is basically irrelevant unless you have some serious shenanigans, like Evra who was mentioned earlier.
*Important rules note: Cards are always drawn one at a time. This WILL work with wheels, but it will only double a single card draw and not all of them. A Wheel of Fortune with this out will discard your hand and draw you eight cards, not fourteen. It might still be worth including in wheel deck, but it's something to be aware of.
Tumblr media
Finally, Basalt Monolith is back in a commander precon for the first time in nearly a decade, and is now back to being pretty cheap. If you want to combo with it, now's the time to grab copies at a fraction of the usual $5 price.

Chicken Souvlaki Pita Recipe: Easy Grilled Greek Sandwiches
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the best things about making camping grill recipes is how fast they cook! With a little prep at home, this Chicken Souvlaki Pita Recipe will have a scrumptious dinner on your camp table in about 30 minutes!
Chicken Souvlaki Pita Recipe by CampingForFoodies
Psst we’re compensated…see our disclosures.
Prep And Make Ahead Sandwiches For Camping
There are three main parts of this recipe that you can make at home, eliminating the time you need to devote to this meal at camp:
Marinate the chicken.
Make the Tzatziki sauce.
Chop a few veggies for toppings.
Doing all of these steps in advance actually makes the sandwich taste even better because the flavors have time to marry!
Methods Of Cooking Grilled Greek Camping Sandwiches
The main difference between a souvlaki and a gyro sandwich has to do with how the meat is cooked. The word souvlaki refers to meat that is cooked on skewers while the meat for gyro sandwiches is cooked on a vertical rotisserie.
The only thing you are cooking in this meal is the chicken which can be grilled many different ways:
For camping grill recipes, you can use a charcoal or propane outdoor grill.
For campfire recipes you can cook right on the rack of a campfire ring, or place a separate campfire grill grate over your campfire coals. You can use a grate that sits on the ground or the type that hangs from a tripod.
For camp stove recipes you can use a cast iron grill pan to cook over a propane camp stove.
You’ll need a “medium” hot grill to cook the pieces of chicken. If you don’t have a thermometer, just use the hand test to achieve the proper grill temperature. Medium heat = 5-6 seconds using the hand test.
Hand Test For Cooking Temperatures
You don’t need a thermometer to determine the temperature of your heat source for cooking. Here’s steps for the “hand test”.
Hold the palm of your hand about 5 inches above the heat source (campfire coals, charcoal briquettes, propane grill etc.) you’re using for cooking. (Make sure nothing is flammable, like clothing or jewelry.)
Pull your hand away from the heat before it hurts and note how many seconds have passed. Example: 5-6 seconds = medium heat.
Heat Level Temperature Range Time High Heat 450-550°F 2-3 seconds Medium Heat 350-450°F 5-6 seconds Low Heat 250-350°F 8-10 seconds
Hand Test For Cooking Temperatures
Grilled Greek Pita Sandwich Campsite Assembly
When you are ready to eat, you’ll just grill the chicken, toast the pitas and assemble the toppings. You can see why this is one of the fastest camping dinner recipes you can make at camp!
You’ll want to serve these chicken gyros immediately. The warm chicken souvlaki pitas contrast nicely with the cold sauce and veggies.
Pairings For Campfire Greek Chicken Pitas
This flavorful chicken dish is a Greek classic and pairs well with a simple Greek salad.
When I want to bulk up the meal, I like to choose one of my camping side dishes that carries the same tastes. One of my favorite things to do is add this Greek Tomato And Feta Pasta Salad to my menu. It has similar flavors, uses simple ingredients and tastes better after the flavors meld together for a day or two so it’s the perfect make-ahead to pair with Greek food.

Try this Dutch Oven Lemon Chicken if you want an easy one-pot dinner. Chicken thighs are seared in olive oil to give the skin a nice crispy texture. My Middle Eastern Chicken recipe can be described from this reader’s comment:
Carla said: I gotta tell ya…this is my go-to chicken dish when I have company. It is phenomenal. I cook it all day so that the chicken gets nice and sticky. It is great to make the day ahead and even better as left-overs. I had people over for a Middle Eastern feast and they kept going back for seconds (and thirds) of this dish. I know some people are wary of cooking with fruit, but, one of the guys at my dinner absolutely hates fruit in meals. In fact, he was telling us, while he was eating this dish, how much he hates fruit. I waited until he was finished and said, “Weird. Cuz there’s both dates and apricots in that third helping you’re going for.” HAH! Thanks for this recipe – it has a permanent home in my ‘winner’s cookbook.

1/2 cup balsamic vinaigrette prepared salad dressing
1/2 lemon juiced
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
Homemade Tzatziki Sauce (see * Note)
1/2 small cucumber seeded, peeled, shredded (use box grater)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/8 cup sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 small clove garlic minced (Camp Cooking Tip: If the garlic clove is large, only use half of it. This is a raw preparation and the garlic will be strong.)
1 1/2 teaspoon fresh dill weed chopped
1/4 teaspoon Greek seasoning
Dash black pepper to taste
Toppings And Assembly
4 pita wraps we like the pocket style
4 leaves romaine lettuce sliced into ribbons
1/2 red onion diced
2 Roma fresh tomatoes diced
1/2 cup Kalamata olives
1 cup crumbled feta cheese
Cook ModePrevent your screen from going dark
Trim fat off each piece of chicken and cut into bite-sized pieces. (see ** Note)
Combine the marinade and the chicken in a large zip top bag, work out excess air, seal it then toss the bag to coat the chicken (or use a non-reactive large bowl). Then place it in a refrigerator or cooler at least a few hours or overnight (overnight is best).
Make the Tzatziki Sauce by putting the cucumber and salt in a bowl. Let it stand for at least 20 minutes (this will draw out the water.) Squeeze out the excess water so the cucumber is as dry as possible.
Now, mix all of the Tzatziki Sauce ingredients (including the drained cucumber), cover and refrigerate in airtight container until ready to use.
Place chicken skewers on preheated grill over medium heat of a campfire, propane grill or charcoal grill (see *** Note). (If using wooden skewers, soak them in water about 30 minutes prior to grilling so they don’t catch on fire during the grilling process.) The chicken should be grilled until the juices run clear or the meat reaches an internal temperature of 165 F degrees. The cook time depends on your altitude and thickness of chicken but it usually takes about 10-20 minutes to finish cooking on skewers.
Warm pita bread by placing it on the grill, about 30 seconds per side to heat pita and provide a little crunch to the fluffy pita bread.
Remove the chicken from the grill (slice it into bite sized pieces if it was cooked in whole pieces.)
Assemble the pitas with your favorite toppings and yogurt sauce, then serve immediately.
*NOTE: Flavors marry here so make this ahead of time. Camp Cooking Tip: You can make the Tzatziki Sauce a day ahead and just keep it refrigerated until you are ready to serve. If you want to do this in even less time you can just pick up a nice creamy tzatziki sauce from your local grocery store. **NOTE: Camp Cooking Tip: If you don’t want to deal with skewers you can leave the chicken pieces whole, grill them, then, just cube them after they are fully cooked, about 20-30 minutes. Also, when fire restrictions are in place I use my cast iron grill pan over a propane camp stove to grill meat.  *** Note: If you don’t have a thermometer on your grill, use the “hand test”: hold the palm of your hand about 5 inches above the heat source, pull it away before it hurts, 5-6 seconds = medium heat.

Ketogenic Diet: Is the Ultimate Low-Carb Diet Good for You?
these days, many of my patients have been asking approximately a ketogenic food plan. Is a ketogenic weight loss program safe? would you recommend it? notwithstanding the current hype, a ketogenic food regimen isn't always some thing new. In medicinal drug, we were using it for almost one hundred years to deal with drug-resistant epilepsy, specially in kids. within the Nineteen Seventies, Dr. Atkins popularized his very-low-carbohydrate weight loss plan for weight loss that began with a very strict -week ketogenic segment. over time, other fad diets integrated a comparable technique for weight loss.
what's a ketogenic (keto) weight loss plan?
In essence, it's far a diet that causes the frame to release ketones into the bloodstream. maximum cells choose to use blood sugar, which comes from carbohydrates, because the frame's important source of strength. in the absence of circulating blood sugar from meals, we begin breaking down saved fats into molecules called ketone bodies (the method is known as ketosis). after Low Carb Diät you reach ketosis, maximum cells will use ketone our bodies to generate strength until we start eating carbohydrates again. The shift, from the usage of circulating glucose to breaking down stored fats as a supply of power, normally occurs over two to 4 days of ingesting fewer than 20 to 50 grams of carbohydrates consistent with day. remember the fact that that is a quite individualized technique, and some people need a extra restricted diet to begin generating sufficient ketones.
as it lacks carbohydrates, a ketogenic weight loss program is wealthy in proteins and fats. It typically consists of plenty of meats, eggs, processed meats, sausages, cheeses, fish, nuts, butter, oils, seeds, and fibrous veggies. due to the fact it's so restrictive, it's far genuinely difficult to comply with over the long run. Carbohydrates normally account for as a minimum 50% of the typical American eating regimen. one of the main criticisms of this weight loss program is that many humans tend to eat too much protein and bad-great fats from processed meals, with only a few culmination and veggies. patients with kidney disease need to be cautious because this weight loss program ought to get worse their circumstance. moreover, some sufferers may additionally feel a touch worn-out inside the beginning, whilst some may additionally have horrific breath, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and sleep issues.
Is a ketogenic weight-reduction plan wholesome?
we have stable proof displaying that a ketogenic weight loss program reduces seizures in children, occasionally as effectively as remedy. because of those neuroprotective outcomes, questions have been raised about the viable benefits for other brain issues which includes Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, a couple of sclerosis, sleep issues, autism, or even brain most cancers. but, there aren't any human research to guide recommending ketosis to treat those conditions.
weight loss is the number one purpose my patients use the ketogenic food regimen. previous research shows right proof of a faster weight reduction when sufferers move on a ketogenic diet or very low carbohydrate eating regimen in comparison to individuals on a more conventional low-fats food regimen, or even a Mediterranean food regimen. but, that difference in weight loss appears to disappear over time.
A ketogenic food plan additionally has been proven to enhance blood sugar manipulate for sufferers with kind 2 diabetes, as a minimum inside the brief time period. there's even greater controversy when we consider the impact on levels of cholesterol. some studies display a few patients have increase in cholesterol levels within the beginning, best to see ldl cholesterol fall a few months later. however, there may be no lengthy-term studies reading its effects through the years on diabetes and excessive ldl cholesterol.

Sustainable Developmental Goals Implementation in Cato Manor community
This week's topic got me thinking to myself, will ever the goals be reached? Will people ever experience equality and access to food such that there’s no poverty? Just take a moment and think about it. How will get there? When shall we get there? But the questions in my head got me questioning again, on whom am I waiting to make things change? A little voice in my head said, “Minnie you are to make a change, even a small input will make a difference, use what you have where you can.”
According to About Cato manor (n.d.), Cato Manor includes massive informal settlements of shack homes, and the housing infrastructure includes RDP homes and other working-class residences. Although more impromptu shack communities continue to appear in this early part of the 21st century, the topic of housing in the region is still quite divisive. High rates of HIV and TB are also present in this neighbourhood, along with high rates of unemployment and poverty. That’s why my focus on this community will on the following goals: no poverty; good health and well-being; gender equality; quality education, and partnership for the goals.
Tumblr media
Goal one is “no poverty”, this was chosen as poverty is a critical challenge experienced by the community as most of them live in the shacks and there is no source of income for them, or even if there is but it doesn’t cover all their basic needs. In the past 3 weeks, having to engage with the community and high school kids, the main thing that stood out for me was that people in the community are stressed about how they’ll be able to provide for their families, and in the high school the kids were stressed about how their parents are stressed because they don’t have the money to provide for them. The major factor escalating poverty in this community is unemployment. Most of the residents there don’t work due to not having skills or not getting a job. According to Dorothy (2023), as if the unemployment rate hasn’t affected South Africa much, but it’s yet to strike harder as the estimated rate for unemployment for 2023 is estimated to be 35.6%. This means fewer employment/jobs leading to more poverty-stricken households. As occupational therapists placed in Cato Manor we are working with the Thembalethu people to encourage people to be more entrepreneurs, it doesn’t have to be something major, but like seeing the opportunity of things not available in the community and selling them even if it is chips, the organisation is to empower women mostly to have a source of income. Others collect tins, others sell food stock, others plant vegetables that they can sell afterwards, and sometimes they take home to have meals, these women are being taught skills on how to make a living for themselves and be able to take care of their families. In schools, we had an idea to do gardening of veggies so that the children can take care of the veggies and they can take them home afterwards so they can have a meal.
Tumblr media
"Good Health and Attitude in A Community is Important" ~ Chantel (2023)
Goal two is “ good health and well-being”, as said above, the community has a lot of cases of HIV and TB, and this factor affects the whole well-being of a person. Our health is mostly affected by our social, environmental, and cultural factors.
The emphasis of this goal is on encouraging well-being at all ages and ensuring healthy lifestyles. According to United Nations Sustainable Development(2022), by 2030, this goal's target includes eradicating epidemics of AIDS, and tuberculosis; combating communicable diseases; reducing by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment; promoting mental health and well-being; and strengthening the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drug abuse and harmful alcohol use. In the community, there are a lot of people who abuse substances like whoonga and this doesn’t only affect the family but also the children in the household, the children may end up being substance abusers themselves or else be depressed as the child get involved in the violence performed by the guardians when they don’t get their substance or they have it in their systems. This negatively affects the mental health of the child, which is mostly why as OTs we did stress management groups with the clients just to get to understand their stressors and the substance abuse scenarios at home that came up thus we plan on having more groups with them to give them coping skills and some are referred to a social worker for counselling and further intervention.
Tumblr media
"It is time that we see all gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposite ideals” ~ Emma Watson
Goal three is “gender equality”, this goal is to ensure that all genders get equal exposure to everything, and things aren’t to be generalized according to their genders. In our block it is mostly based on empowering women within the community by teaching them skills and encouraging them to partake in activities that’ll improve their lives as the unemployment rate is going to rise thus this means a person needs to try and make a living with what they can. This is mostly to break down the patriarchal system as already most households are single-headed by women, and they carry the responsibility of taking care of the whole family. We also do health promotions (Mother and child health) and Paeds screening every Tuesday and Friday to educate the mothers regarding services to help them help their children.
Tumblr media
Goal four is “quality education”, this reminds me of the saying “education is the key to success”, a crazy question I used and still ask myself is who locked this door exactly and why, but that’s just a thought I never get an answer to. This makes me wonder even more about what level of education is required to open these doors. People get to graduate and stay at home with their degrees. In this community, they have limited resources to gather information from but the Cator crest library acts as their main source of information it’s mostly unused as it is mostly empty.  We had thought of doing a recreational area which shall act as an attraction of people into the library, and we hope that they’ll also use the library resources to maybe get information regarding careers available. We also work in schools as we assess and treat so that the child can be able to participate in the occupation of education regardless of their difficulties.
Tumblr media
(Lariita, 2018)
Goal five is “partnership for the goals”, I believe that multiple minds together are better than one thus for us to be able to meet up and achieve the goals, it requires conjoined intervention. Working together with the community, schools and organisations within the community, as we all have a common goal which is to develop the community.
In conclusion, the time at which all these goals are to be met is unknown, but every little change makes a difference. We aim to aid where we can and build the community.

ALRIGHT! IT’S MY TURN TO INTRODUCE MYSELF!
I can’t believe my brother went before me -_-
I’m Mikey! My pronouns are he/him and my sexuality is 💅 (I’m dating a Draken fictive. Be jealous. Stay mad. I’m winning /lh)
I’m a fictive of Manjiro Sano from Tokyo Revengers, and I’m one of the system’s two main physical protectors. Jax is the other, and the difference in how we operate as physical protectors is that I’m the one who handles street fights/bare handed combat, and Jax is the one who would (and hopefully this never happens) take control during a seriously dangerous situation like a home invasion. I have gotten into fights in the body, and I won most of them (I don’t count the other guy running away or someone interrupting the fight as a win, otherwise I’d say all of them)
I swear more than a lot of alters, and even though there is a sort of unspoken rule to keep things relatively pg on our blog but FUCK THAT I WAS A FUCKING GANG LEADER I DON’T GIVE A DAMN THIS IS AN 18+ BLOG WE GOT “minors dni” IN OUR FUCKING BIO JUST FUCK OFF IF YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR A DELINQUENT USE PROFANITIES THEN GO TALK TO A FUCKING VEGGIE TALES FICTIVE OR SMTH but I will tag the post with tw’s for caps and language because I’m considerate (and I don’t get babied as much if I act like a dick)
I’d list my besties but I have a lot of friends, all of whom I’d die for, and some of them aren’t on Tumblr
My favorite colors are crimson red and salmon pink, favorite song is a toss up between Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana), Delinquents (Call me Karizma), and A Love Like War (All Time Low), but I really just love a lot of grunge, alt rock, and pop punk music. Favorite foods are…idk but the snacks I have the most are ice cream, milkshakes, and boba tea
Just recently, I took my twin (a Mikey kinnie) to the pumpkin patch and I kept throwing corn at them and it’s already one of my favorite memories. We also bought some tiny ass pumpkins. They fit in the palm of my hand! They’re so cute
That’s it
Whatever my source did, idfc. I’m baby! 🥰

Spring Crossquarter {Beltane} Fantasy Feast
We are nearing the pinnacle of Spring! I long for the day when I can have the most dreamy aromatic sensual Beltane feast and celebration. However creating visual boards is the first step towards that reality. I did go overboard with some of the selections with this one, like I tried to be more Honest in my Imbolc and Ostara board (like as if I were to actually have a feast and constructed a menu) but this one I did not care about portions or the amount of dishes present, I just threw everything in there.
As I have decided to update my 2016 fantasy feasts Beltane was next after Ostara and Imbolc. These visualization posts have helped me manifest some incredible celebrations and gatherings and as my tastes have gotten more extravagant and complicated its time for an upgrade.
In the read more there are the recipe links and additional explanations on personal symbolism and of course the image credits! I also always plan my feasts to be vegan inclusive for those with dietary restrictions but also aim for all the food to be somewhat local which matters in these seasonal feasts since it's celebrating local nature. Anyway there is something for everyone here.
1: Starters Since we are in still in Spring of course there will be a crudité board, yet unlike Ostara which was refreshing and green, this would show all the floral extravagance of spring from the zesty radishes, edible flowers (Romanesco broccoli is technically a flower!) to floral seasonal toppings. To make the dip vegan for all to enjoy I would go for an Oatley crème fraiche dipping sauce I would infuse with some olive oil and chive blossoms. Along with this I would love to have the delicacy of chive butter snails with chive flowers. Not everyone would be adventurous for snails but there are a lot of other ideas here for starters such as the Creamy Garlic Scape with Chive Flower Pesto tart. Or the Purple Pansy Salad Rolls which would be a nice addition to the crudité board. Lastly I just love the presentation of the butterfly sandwiches. I'd imagine them to be like the little cucumber or spiced egg sandwiches you'd get at high tea. If I were to slap all of these dishes into one feast I would mostly have the crudité board with the scape tart and the snails. I am unsure about the rolls and sandwiches because it would just be really filling before the main course! But they deserve to be seen haha.
Floral Crudite Board Creamy Garlic Scape + Chive Flower Pesto and Asparagus Tart Recipe Purple Pansy Salad Rolls Recipe Snails with Chive Flowers Tea Party Butterfly Sandwiches Source
2: Sides The bread choice would be chive rolls. To accompany this would be floral compact butter. A lot of flowers are actually more savory and salady then fragrant and sweet. Even some of the more aromatic blooms have a vegetal undertone to their flavor which is why the violet vinaigrette caught my eye. That would definitely accompany the artichoke veggie main where guests would be able to dip each artichoke petal in. Lastly there will definitely be asparagus locally grown as they taste incredible when fresh out the garden. The ones the local garden I volunteer at taste so aromatic yet also slightly meaty? It's hard to describe but incredible sensual like the same way truffles have a somewhat "meaty" or umami flavor to them but are very aromatic.
Compound Flower Butter Recipe Honorable Mention: Compact Chive Garlic Butter Recipe Cheddar Chive Bread Rolls Asparagus Source Violet Vinaigrette
3: Mains The Main two dishes would be an aromatic duck served with a side of spring onions sliced into blooms. Duck also has such a fragrant and rich flavor to it that would accompany the floral salads and dishes very well. The vegan option would be roasted artichoke that guests can dip into the floral vinaigrette.
Roasted Beer Duck Recipe Garlic Butter Charred Artichoke Recipe Red Onion Flowers with Rosemary Recipe Roasted Onion Flowers
4: Desserts Ok this is definitely where I have gone overboard but there were too many dishes to choose from which made the selection difficult so I just included all of them for the visuals. If I were to host this feast I would realistically just pick 1 or 2 of these things (A cake and a tart) but for each sabbat I have a special dessert, a tart and a simple cake in mind so it would really depend on how many people are attending. For the special dish I would love a floral jelly, a floral panna cotta or floral jello cake like with blossoms or violets. The tart is rhubarb (I know in some regions rhubarb is very summer-y but mid-April is when it's season starts here in the UK) and the pound cake would be rose buttercream or violet sugar. I do love how buttercream can be easily shaped into flowery shapes so I’d be leaning towards that.  I just love the complexity and versatility of floral desserts. You do have to be a little familiar with what you're doing because floral flavors can easily go from sensual and enchanting to soap/perfume getting squirted in your mouth. Some flavors like rose and jasmine are very safe but others like lavender and violet can get edgy. A great way to balance those flavors out is adding honey as it balances it with a nectary undertone which makes you feel like you are eating delicious butterfly food instead of a block of soap. Lastly the Wondersmith's beautiful cake is very summer solstice vibe I will admit, but I really loved the presentation of butterflies and the elderflower blooms which are starting to bud around this time of year anyway so I thought it was worth adding in. Usually I would not include anything like strawberries in something like this as I feel they peak closer to summer solstice and are more symbolic to summer than spring for me and the region I live in currently.

Honorable Mentions: Lilac Cake with Matcha Glaze (Gluten Free)  Flower Bouquet Cake
5: Drinks Every beverage of course would be infused with more blooms and nectary flavors. I would love to serve fleurette cocktails upon arrival with fairy floss in them that would melt down upon pouring. Fleurette cocktails are pink prosecco, st germain (or elderflower syrup), rose water and a flower garnish. There would be so many options for non alcoholic drinks such as Lavender lemonade, floral teas and of course I would love to have a blooming tea being served in a glass pot during the main course.

Honorable Mentions: Rose Tea Turkish Delight Cocktail
6: Treats Ok finally last part!! This would probably be omitted from a real feast I would host because we would probably get our sweet-tooths satisfied by dessert, however I always feel like including this part as treats always made holidays more memorable for me as a kid. Each holiday had its specific candy or snacks and they were like memorable tokens you acquired and snacked on days later after the celebration. Especially the candy!! If there were kids present these treats would definitely be given in little goody bags maybe in flower pots or planters as buckets to encourage them to grow something for their garden in them. Some ideas for treats would be glazed sugar cookies (the butterfly ones), home made pixie sticks with edible glitter, rose pops (I also love the idea of dressing up regular lollipops as flowers), rose Turkish delights, violet candies and gummy worms. The only savory treat I can think of would be like kale chips.

Please share your thoughts with me!! Tell me about the recipes you like to have on this day or what you associate with spring. I feel like my approach to Beltane may be different from what most of the community does but its because it's often a reflection of the nature that surrounds me. I grew up this time of the year being bombarded (literally I was surrounded by magnolia trees) with flowers so Beltane has always been a sensual floral flirty fairy festival to me.

hiii, your last lineless piece was absolutely beautiful, i wonder if you could explain it a little to me to get a jumping off point for my own research? im curious to know how much of it was picked for the aesthetics and how much of it comes from the concepts you wrote out
i know samsāra is the concept of like.... circular karma present in Buddhism and other religions but i dont understand why the animals in the pieces are there or what they represent. i can see swk, liu er and ma's names/titles written out but the other concepts written are a mystery to me, i tried to look them up but i dont think im putting in the right thing
i know its probably spoons to explain the whole thing so if you dont wanna maybe you could link me a site you used or something ^^ thank you so much, an thanks for posting amazing art ♡♡
jgklsjgkdsmk thank you!!! And of course I can, though u’ll be prolly a bit disappointed to know that the whole piece set is just built upon a crossover between LMK and a game more than something from the actual eastern religions
The animals in the piece are slugcats from the game Rain World, just as well those glowing symbols/signs/characters on the pictures. The “names” of the slugcats (幸存者,僧,猎人) mean the same things as the symbols 👇
Tumblr media
(I fucked up the hunter symbol but there’s very little of RW fans so I hope nobody of our little numbers will come to catch my ass for it)
(side note that those smaller symbols along the middle of SWK’s body are chakras n they r very much real. There’s 7 of em usually, but cuz this is Fruit Twins Lore only the first four are drawn. All my understanding of chakras comes from my real life since I Ain’t Christian)
Rain World was my hyperfixation at the start of last year, it’s built around the idea of Saṃsāra and Nirvana, I made the connection between LMK n RW thru the “oh hey, same social circle of religions!”, the slugcats and their titles fit the three main monkey siblings (SWK being an actual monk + vegetarianism cuz of the monking; one of Ma’s themes as a character is surviving like a roach + both her and Survivor lose parents as kids and have to fend for themselves + become strong and kinda ruthless because of their time alone; Six Ear making it an Actual Point to eat more meat than veggies just to spite religions n SWK + excessive killing + fucked karma situation/being revived after dying just like Hunter) n so I went FUCK YEA cuz I’mma slut for parallels
But when it comes to actual research on these kinds of things: the only consistent sources I have is Wikipedia and/or Quora (the most reliant information you’ll Ever get is from the people of the actual culture). otherwise I tend to jump around multiple sites, perhaps my two books of mythology and then cross-reference everything I’ve learned to filter out what I’m CERTAIN is a real thing and what isn’t. General knowledge of the language and culture itself also helps. Look up what certain characters mean more abroadly cuz gtranslate won’t give you the Whole context n check for the context not being explained in too simple western terms. A site that isn’t common enough in my research sprees to call it “consistent” but shows up a lot anyway is journeytothewestresearch. I usually use that one as a final foolproofer or last life line if I can’t find a thing otherwise

Recipe #111 - Anchovy Heaven
I know people are probably thinking "Just a caesar salad?" but, no, this actually took me almost 2.5 hours to make. Not a difficult 2.5 hours, but just a lot of time to devote to a salad. In the end I think it was worth it.
The most time consuming part of this recipe was definitely the dressing. As the dish's name suggests, and in case you didn't know the main ingredient in caesar dressing is anchovies. This was actually my first time working with anchovies and, although they definitely looked pretty nasty before I mashed them into a pulp, they actually smelled and tasted really good. It was interesting to see all that goes into making that caesar flavor (I didn't expect the egg yolks).
The chicken and the croutons took very little time to prepare. Both were basically two steps: toss in seasoning and cook/bake. The chicken came out very juicy so I made a mental note to use that technique again (1.5 tbsp veggie oil > don't flip for 5 min > flip > add 1 tbsp butter to pan > 5 more minutes > done!) The croutons were, of course, amazing, but I'm convinced it's impossible to ruin croutons so I'm not going to toot my own horn too much.
Recipe for the chicken:
Here is my source
-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
-1 lb boneless chicken breast
-salt and pepper
-1/2 tsp garlic powder
-1/2 tsp onion powder
-1/2 tsp dried basil
-1/2 tsp paprika
-2 tbsp butter
Recipe for everything else:
Here is my source
-6 anchovy fillets
-1 small garlic clove
-salt and pepper
-2 large egg yolks
-2 tbsp lemon juice
-3/4 tsp dijon mustard
-5 tbsp olive oil
-1/2 cup vegetable oil
-3 tbsp finely grated parmesan
-3 cups bread pieces
-3 romaine hearts
Glad to get another salad on my blog. I think I can count all the ones I've made so far on one hand. Random side note: I'm realizing that this is a very non-vegan salad with there being eggs, fish, AND cheese in the dressing. I bet a vegan caesar dressing would make for an interesting challenge. Anyway, until next time, clue crew.

what foodstuffs do IDP's kingdom consume? how do they produce their crops and raise their livestock? what innovations have they had with either over the years? how has that changed his kingdom's history? how much power does this afford to those who make the food? how much land have they set aside for food production? what foods are seen as more valuable than others, and does this correlate to how much nutrition they provide?
FOODSTUFF’S!
what foodstuffs do IDP's kingdom consume?:
It really depends on who you are within the kingdom, for an example IDP mostly eats things that come from other dimensions, namely the dimension that homes the monsters and humans we’ve seen in canon. Meanwhile a low commoner (or as I’ll be calling them; an extra) would have a very set diet akin to military rations that only provide the bare needed nutrition depending on what they work as (so more examples are: a miner’s diet would be made mostly of breads and preserved meats meanwhile a teacher would really only have veggies and a small amount of bread.)
how do they produce their crops and raise their livestock?
The empire has colonized whole planets to use as farmland, normally planets that were deemed ‘ugly’. Depending on the farming planet it will either follow how the native people to the planet used to rise their crops and animals or if the native food is disliked Homeland (my wip name for the main planet) crops and animals will be brought in. Both are raised with the ideas of either taste or looks above all else, leading to animals being forcibly fattened up or crops being keep from gaining vitimites or minerals that would make them taste less good.
what innovations have they had with either over the years?
Before they started colonizing other planets they had advanced greenhouses stored in space stations to try and meet the demand of their ever growing ‘cast’, these forming after they started harvesting new resources from space and finding new energy sources using said resources. As they started colonizing other planets though a lot of this progress was lost in favor of cheap and easy, which meant keeping high tech out of the hands of the enslaved people on these planets.
how has that changed his kingdom's history?
Food, along with some other collapses caused the first wars Homeland had with other planets that lead to their colonization of planets. Them no longer actually using the high tech at their finger tips also marked when the capital truly became ‘helpless’ without the aid of those it had envsalved.
how much power does this afford to those who make the food?
Those that actually grow food are treated as some of the lowest of the low as it means they have to be covered in dirt, interact with ‘dirty’ nature and as a whole fail to be apart of the far removed beauty that is so valued. But people like the royal chiefs or otherwise cooks that get to make fancy food are treated very highly as they are considered artists aka the highest valued job a non-royal can aspire to.
how much land have they set aside for food production?
There are two main sections of the empire that are used for food production, one is a single planet near Homeland that provides for the rich and powerful of Homeland are those that are away from home and then there are whole sectors of space that are just planets used as farming planets.
what foods are seen as more valuable than others, and does this correlate to how much nutrition they provide?
While the extras value hearty food that will keep them alive the upper crust couldn’t give two craps if their food is sustaining them as long as it’s pretty and maybe tasty, even tasty is optional. So you know all those fancy things that are just like crap plated in gold, yeah that’s what valued meanwhile a hearty stew would be thrown out with the waste water.
(Extra headcanon is that when IDP started going to spooky high he pretty much ate all the food at lunch and ended up having to go to the nurses office)

Little Heart
Notes: Moments between the Crystal Exarch and his son while the Warrior is away. Playing dress-up, eating meals, and telling bed time stories. For @blood--hunter and written for pre 5.3 patch! Relationship: G’raha Tia / Unnamed Warrior of Light Rating: G - General. (Very high fluff content)
Inspiration link Ao3 Link
“Do you have everything you need? Food, clothes, weapon?” G’raha shifts back and forth on his feet, eyes following the Warrior of Light. His Warrior of Light. The thought of it still sends butterflies fluttering around in his stomach. All his fussing is easily hushed with a simple ‘yes,’ your face twisted to barely suppress your smile at his fretting. You reach out to pet the child nestled to his chest, tiny kitten ears poking out of the hood of his onesie and wiggling constantly as his hands grasp at the decorations on his father’s robes.
You have left them both alone before; usually leaving to help the newly inspired Warriors of Light, or to the Source to check on the Scions. However, those trips were usually a day at most. This is the first time you have had to leave for a week, and it’s a test of how well everyone can handle the situation. Problems of the Source wait for no one, not even the Warrior of Light.
“Wey,” G’raha whispers, breaking into a smile when he gets his son’s attention. Wey’s innocent red eyes look back and forth between his parents, trying to figure out what is happening. “Do you want to say ‘See you soon’?” With an eager nod from him, G’raha easily sets the child on his feet and watches as he waddles up to you.
“Byebye, I love you.” His little voice barely reaches your ears as he squeezes you as hard as he can, trying to prevent you from leaving. G’wey then mashes the bottom half of his face against your cheek for a ‘kiss’ and waits for you to do the same. The pout on his face lightens when you press your lips to his chubby cheeks, giggling when your hair tickles his face.
G’raha smiles at the scene, wishing that he could take a picture and cherish the moment for the rest of his life. He steps up to press his own kiss onto your waiting lips, chest to chest, his hand reaching out to grip your shirt and his tail unconsciously wrapping itself around your leg. And just like that, you step through the portal and vanish.
  Day 1
It’s the first breakfast without you there, and G’wey is already searching for you. The kitten has made a point to ignore the breakfast sitting in front of him; instead, he kicks his legs impatiently and attempts to look into the entryway to see if he could catch a peek of you coming down the hall.
“Where did they go?” G’wey looks up at his father from a high chair, clearly confused about why you haven’t left your room yet. He manages to wiggle himself from the confines of his chair; just as he stands on his seat, his balance starts to slip and he nearly topples over before G’raha catches him with a wave of magic. Unfazed, the child continues to grasp at the air for answers. “Dada? Where are they? They were here yesterday.”
G’raha couldn’t help but wonder if this is how he looked when he was still a baby, a red-haired kit with mismatched eyes asking every question under the sun. “They left yesterday, remember? So we’ll have to wait.” G’raha crouches down to give his beloved son a kiss on the top of his head. Gears turn in his mind on how to explain this issue - and a quick glance at the calendar reminds him of how long it will be before you come back - before his attention is brought back to the squirming child. “Do you remember your numbers, Wey?”
“Yes, Dada!” The kit raises his hands and wiggles all his fingers before counting them. “One, two, tree, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!”
G’raha couldn’t help but feel proud when G’wey didn’t miss a single number. He reaches out and cups his hands to curl around the fingers. “They will be back in five breakfast, you will have to be a little patient, okay?”
“But that’s a really long time.”
“I know, but it’s going to be worth it. They might bring back a present.” The child instantly perks up at the mention of a new toy, eagerly nodding his head as G’raha picks up the bowl of cut chicken and spoons a small portion. He holds it up to G’wey’s mouth, urging him to take the bite. “Since they are away right now, we can also plan what we can do when they come back.”
“Then…” He hurries to eat the food, red eyes shining like jewels, it takes him a moment to find the right words to say what is on his mind. “Can I have a second breakfast? Then we will have… five more breakfasts before they come home... right?”
G’raha nearly keeled over at the suggestion, he let go of G’wey to cover the wide smile spread across his face. A burst of laughter tickles his throat while his heart flutters like a bird in his chest. Is it possible to love his son any more than he does now?
  Day 3
“How about this one?” G’raha holds up another onesie. It was a present, from Dulia Chai and Chai Nuzz after they found out that the famed Exarch and Warrior of Light had a child. The onesie is fashioned into his own robed attire with the softest material available, with the metal details replaced with durable wooden ones for him to play with. G’wey lets out a happy squeal at the sight of it, running over and nearly tripping over his own feet in his hurry.
He had already spent a better part of the day changing his son from one onesie into another. Several of them were fashioned after outfits of their Warrior; a pure white attire with a matching cane, loose red far eastern robes with a wooden sword to match, and even a set of black robes with a pile of cards for him to play with. Each outfit is lovingly recreated with small alterations to make it safe.
He helps G’wey into this new outfit, even pulling the hood up to hide his bright red hair for good measure. The light laughter that erupts is infectious, G’raha unable to stop himself from letting out a chuckle as he pats his head.
“I look like you now!” The mi’kitten declares after he picks up a toy version of his staff. The toy is barely a forearm’s length, and G’wey waves it around like a wand while G’raha cleans up the mess they’ve made. The sight is almost too adorable to bear.
The hood has started to slip off, with one side barely hanging on by an ear while the other wiggles free from the hem. The long sleeves that replaced his armbands were long enough to cover everything but his fingers, and he had already rolled them up to properly grip the staff. The cut of the skirt is high enough to prevent him from tripping on it and they even cut a hole for the tail to poke out, the tuft wiggling without restraint.
Could his son be any cuter?
  Day 5
“Crystal Exarch, sir!”
A Crystarium guard hurried over to him with a report from Lyna. There were reports of trade routes coming under attack, but nothing that he had never handled before. With the Lightwardens gone, the remaining sineaters have begun to attack recklessly, endangering travelers. Even the local wildlife has found it easier to pick off unsuspecting merchants when they’re too worried about other threats.
With his father distracted, G’wey moves to stand in front of his growing crowd of friends. He pulls the hood over his head and puffs out his chest, even tapping the end of the toy onto the ground twice as if to command them. Unknownst to him, the passing adults had taken notice of the tiny Exarch and even started to greet him as such. By the time G’raha finally turned his attention back to G’wey, he was immersed in a game of pretend.
“Begone, foul sin eater! I am the Crystal Exarch and the Crystarium is under my protection!” G’wey declares, brandishing his staff while a few of ‘civilians’ hide behind him. An elezen child prowls towards him on his tiptoes, hands reaching out to grab his costume.
“I am the greatest Sineater! And there is nothing you can do to stop me from eating everyone!”
“Don’t worry, I’ll summon heroes to come and save us!” G’wey steps up before G’raha had the chance to move from the sidelines. He swings his staff, careful not to hit anyone before slamming the end onto the ground. “Champions heed my call!”
With those words, G’raha’s face grows a shade closer to his hair. A mix of embarrassment and pride was enough for him to miss the other children running in to join the scene. The grin that broke out on his face could be seen a mile away. There’s no way, how could he have known those words? Unless… someone had told him the story of what happened down in the ruined city beneath the sea. But there is only a small handful that would know, and he’s yet to ask any of the Scions to babysit. That would leave...
His Warrior?
  Day 6
“Wey, you need to eat your veggies.” He had already tried to combine different types of vegetables into soups and cream, attempted to dress them up to make them more appealing, and even hid them into meatballs. Most of his attempts have been successful, but he really wished to nurture a love for at least some vegetables. He’d find another way to convince G’wey to eat more later. Right now, his main concern is to get him to eat at least half of the popoto salad that he had prepared. “Just try to finish as much as you like, okay?”
G’wey looked reluctantly at the salad sitting in front of him before crossing his arms and turning the other way. “I don’t want to! I hate vegetables. I’m a big kid now, so I don’t need to eat them.”
G’raha lets out a defeated sigh, scratching his head over what to do in this situation. He picked up a small spoonful of the salad and held it up to G’wey’s mouth, only for the mi’kitten to turn his entire body to move away from the food. Just as he was about to give up, an idea occurred to him.
“Wey~” He coos softly as he casts a spell on himself. Within a blink of an eye, he’s gone. The Exarch had to stop the laughter creeping up his throat as he watched G’wey frantically look around the room to spot him in this sudden game of hide and seek.
G’raha nudged the spoon into his mouth, the magic dispelling only when G’wey started to eat. He watches as his red eyes light up the more he chews his food, his tail wagging with uncontainable excitement. A sign of relief escapes G’raha’s lips as he uses his free hand to brush aside some of his hair.
“It’s good for you to eat them even if you’re a big boy now.” G’raha sets the spoon back into his small hands before helping him eat another mouthful. This time the child is more than eager to inhale the salad, his tiny ears wiggling in delight at every bite. He reaches out to pat the child on the back, rubbing small soothing circles to prevent him from choking on himself. “Even Lyna still eats her vegetables. She eats both her meat and carrots everyday to be the captain of the guard.”
“T-then I’ll eat them!” G’wey declared, looking as intimidating as one could be with half of his face covered in eggs and mashed popotoes. “I’ll eat them so that I can be strong enough to protect everyone!”
  Day 7
“Dada?” G’wey quietly asks as he is tucked into bed with a plushie next to him. The child kicks at the blanket to get his attention, staring up at him with bright and hopeful eyes. “Can you tell me a bedtime story?”
“Why, I never thought you would ask, Wey.” G’raha seats himself on the edge of the bed, leaning against the headrest. Tomes from the bookshelf gently glide across the room to hover before G’wey, who still marvels at the magic as if he’s seeing it for the first time. “What story do you want to hear about tonight?”
“Anything! All the stories you tell are good.” G’raha smiles as he decides to untuck some of the blanket to make himself comfortable beside his son. All but one book return to their rightful place, the last book’s magic pouring out into the room as the pages flip open. Parts of the room transform into a scenic mountain range with a snowy landscape, and the center sits the step towards the bridge that leads to the kingdom. The dark spiralling towers stand cold and alone as snow descends from the skies.
It’s a familiar sight to him now. Especially as he’s mastered the art of storytelling over the years; starting with Lyna, then the other children of the Crystarium, and finally presenting the polished experience to G’wey. He always enjoyed telling stories of everything that his warrier have done as the Warrior of Light. “Once upon a time, in a world different from ours, there was a kingdom that was friends with dragons. They lived in harmony, but one day, the knights of the kingdom decided to betray them and steal the dragons’ power.”
The scene shifts as he continues the tale, moving from the kingdom to a group of knights celebrating their victory over a still dragon. With G’wey tucked into his arms, G’raha continues his story and paints a tale of the Dragonsong War; of the struggle that the hero has gone through, the triumphs that they have achieved, and the people that once stood beside them.
As the story draws to a close, the Warrior of Light has defeated Nidhogg and saved their friend. The yawn that G’wey let out nearly stopped him in his tracks. The mi’kitten snuggles to his chest with tiny red eyes that he can barely keep open. With a wave of his hand, the magic is dispelled and the book is set on the nightstand beside the bed. The warm glow illuminating the room from the night lamp hanging from the wall, G’raha could hear and feel the loud purr rumbling from the kitten.
“Da? Will I ever be able to do magic like you?”
“Of course you can, G’wey.” G’raha answers right away, though G’wey didn’t stay awake long enough to hear the answer to his question. He pulls the sheets up to the child’s chin as he continues, “You can learn magic or how to use a sword. Whatever you do, as long as you’re safe, I will be there to support you.”
G’raha starts to hum under his breath an old lullaby that once cradled him into sweet dreams. Though a lot of the words have become muddled from his memory, he can feel it ease all the stress of the day off his shoulders. Beside one of his most precious treasures, G’raha slips into a peaceful rest, knowing that in the morning his family will be whole again.

Endgame(Kiara Carrera X Reader)
Tumblr media
Request:with kie with a like super rich kook SO and bringing them to meet the rest of the pogues and they all expect to hate them but then not
Kiara had never liked you.Well, she had never reallly met you.She kind of just assumed you were a bitch. You were what Sarah Cameron thought she was, you came from a ridiculously rich family.
Your mother was a brain surgeon and your father was a famous actor so that obviously meant that you were ridiculously rich.Kie had done a lot of research on you, finding your name on your fathers wikipedia page and from there finding your blog where you posted videos of him behind the scenes and personal interviews with him on your youtube channel.
She was up for 16 hours straight watching all of your videos, memorising your intro song. You had a good one million subscribers, posting a lot of blogs and videos showing things that you had found on the beach. She would blush and giggle at your little comments.
“Hey, beautiful people! Its your bitch and today im gonna show you guys my new surf board because my old one got broke on an accident.I mean, my wrist also broke so if you were gonna comment on it, trust me.I definitely noticed. So before I get into this video I just want to talk about mental health really quickly.”You paused to take in a quick breath, speaking a bit too fast.
Theres a new suicide game and its getting across social media really quick so please do me a favor and stay safe.It doesnt matter what the problem is now, its only temporary and suicide is a permanent solution.I linked some suicide hotlines and free therapy sources in the description so please just keep yourselves healthy and happy for me, okay?Okay, cool.”You licked your lips, calming down from the quick rant.
“Also drink some fucking water! Its hot out and I almost passed out the other day and make sure you get a snack because this video is already fifteen minutes long and im probably gonna be ranting for another hour.”You grinned at the camera.
Kiara bit into a carrot stick, her knees on her chest as she sat in the recliner of her living room. “Watching another documentary?”Her mother asked, noticing that her daughter hadnt moved in hours.Kie shrugged, focusing on you as you dropped your surfboard. “This is exactly how I broke the first one-fuck!”You laughed, picking it back up.
Eventually the boys started to spam her phone, interrupting her binge watching. She left her house with a sigh, walking out to the dock and waiting for the pogues.Thats when she heard your voice. It was quiet as you walked, wearing white jeans and a light blue button up shirt.
“So you guys always ask me to show you the beach that I find all of my seashells at so thats what we’re-”You paused, looking over to Kiara. She quickly looked away, pretending to be busy on your phone. “Sorry guys, I just saw a really pretty girl.”You whispered to your phone, continuing your walk.
From there she finally worked up the courage to talk to you.She couldnt simply message you on instagram, you had hundreds of thousands of followers so her dm would get lost with all the others.
So she found her prettiest outfit and walked to your house, knocking on the door. You looked at her through the camera of your doorbell, knowing that you had seen her before. You set down your lap top as you were editing, going to answer the door.
“Hi...um...hi.”She laughed, not planning on getting this far. “Hi, um...what’s up?”You cringed at your words. “Nothing much.I just live a block away and I just thought id say hi...im sorry.”She laughed again, becoming more anxious.
“Its fine!So um...I dont know, do you wanna maybe hang out sometime?”You asked, leaning against your doorway. She licked her lips, trying her best not to blush. “Yeah, yeah ok.Um...could I get your number?”She asked, holding her phone.
You nodded, giving her your phone number and telling her to text you whenever.Once the door was closed and she had left you were a squealing mess on your couch, recording.
“So you guys know that pretty girl I was talking about that I saw?Yeah so I just got her number and im low key freaking out-oh god lets just hope she doesnt watch my channel!”You laughed before finishing the editing process, uploading it to youtube.
Kiara got the notification while she was washing her face, watching the video and absolutely losing her mind. She buried her face in her pillow, squealing before deciding to text you.
Unknown number:hey! Its Kiara.Do you wanna hang out tomorrow?
You smiled, letting out a sigh. You screenshotted it, knowing that it would be fun to look back at in the future.
You:Sounds good!Do you want to come over and we can get coffee or lunch or something?
Kie:Okay!!12?
You:Works for me :)
Kie:Okay!
You were anxious the whole night, trying to figure out what to wear. You couldnt decide, posting a poll on your instagram. They decided that you’d be wearing a dark green romper and sandals. You went to bed early since you’d have to wake up before afternoon, heart pounding.
When you woke up it was eleven and you were already behind, hopping in the shower quickly, drying your hair and brushing it, trying to get it to a soft texture. You didnt want to look like you were trying too hard, deciding not to use all of the hair products you’d usually put in your hair before a meeting or a date.
You got into your outfit quickly, pinning your pin back with bobby pins so you could moisturize your face, grabbing your box of beads and parting your hair. You braided the two groups of hair that framed your face, intertwining the beads along the way, securing it with an elastic.
You sighed, twisting a golden flower ring onto your pinkie before going down stairs to sit in your large living room, waiting for Kiara.Your doorbell alerted you to motion outside, getting excited when you saw Kiara walking up to your front door.
She was wearing a pink tube top, light washed jeans with her hair half up and half down, bracelets hugging her wrists. You got up, answering the door the second she rung the bell. “Hi.”You smiled, phone in your pocket.
“Hi.”She smiled back, looking up and down at you.The two of you got into your car, you driving as you started your drive to a cafe. “So how are you?”You asked, realising you knew nothing about her. “Im good, what about you?”She asked, hands in her lap. “I was up all night editing which obviously sucked but you know, it is what it is.”You replied, biting your lip.
She smiled, knowing she’d end up watching the video. “Editing what?Like an edits account on instagram?”She asked, cringing at how stupid it sounded. You shook your head, slowing down once you got to the main road, searching for a parking spot.
“No, I have a youtube channel.I kind of just post random shit and hope for the best.”You answered, pulling up next to the cafe. She nodded, turning to look at you. “That’s cool, what kind of stuff do you post?”She asked, resting her chain against her palm.
You bit your lip, glancing over at the cafe. “I post a lot of interviews and random videos of my dad and sometimes he’ll take me to a set with him and i’ll take videos with the cast.I got to meet Scarlet Johannson so thats cool.”You replied, unbuckling your seatbelt. She grinned.
“Thats fucking awesome-were they in a movie together?”She asked, wanting to hear you talk more. “A show thats coming to Netflix soon, its kind of like a murder mystery meets greek mythology and my dad plays Zeus.We should watch it together.”You answered.
The car was cool but you felt hot, probably because her eyes were focused on you.She nodded, liking the idea of hanging out with you more. “That’d be awesome.”The two of you went inside, the barista grinning at you.
She had always liked you and liked showing up in your vlogs when you came in to get your coffee with boba. She looked to the unknown girl beside you, a small pout on her face. “What can I get for you ladies?”She asked, already preparing your coffee.
“What do you want, Kie?”You asked, moving aside so she could see the menu. “Uhhh….whats a green frappe?”She asked, squinting at the menu. “Oh-its like a blended matcha latte with like mint and vanilla. It's really good.”You explained.
The two of you sat with your drinks, Kiara laughing as you stabbed the boba bubbles at the bottom of your cup. “You know whats cool? These straws are made of hemp plastic so its-”She cut you off before you could finish.
“Biodegradable?”She asked. You nodded, glad someone finally knew what you were talking about. “Yeah! And the company is awesome, they have like 10% of sales going to help the Amazon rain forests and another 10% going to help clean the ocean.”You smiled, taking a sip of coffee.
The afternoon had ended with the two of you on the beach, taking photos of eachother discretely while you finished your drinks, searching for sea glass and watching the sun set.Kiara was freaking out on the inside, knowing that she was pretty much dating a celebrity.
It didnt take long after that first day for her to start showing up in your videos. You held your camera as you two walked down the beach, her hand holding yours and twirling you every once in a while, flashing a smile to the camera.
“So we’re currently on our way to a place that Kie will not tell me about because shes rude.”You spoke, turning the camera to face you.Kiara simply laughed, placing her chin on your shoulder. “Uh...no its because im good at planning surprises.”She answered, grinning when you gasped.
Two surfboards were on the sand along with a blanket and a basket full of fruits, veggies and sandwiches. You cut the camera, giggling and pulling her into a kiss. “Love you.”She grinned, giggling.
“Love you too.”You replied, looking down at the boards. It didnt take long for the two of you to be in only your swimsuits, grabbing the boards and heading towards the water. You clipped the camera to your board, making sure it was secure before stating to film, catching a few good waves on camera before focusing more on Kie.
“There she is, showing off for you guys.”You zoomed in on Kiara as she rode the wave, twisting her body to get a beautiful spin on the dark blue wave. She disappeared under the water, resurfacing with a smile and hair on her face, swimming towards you.
“Did you see that?”She asked, a proud smirk tugging at her lips. You nodded. “How could I miss it?”You asked, earning an eye roll from your girlfriend. “Shut up.”She splashed you, letting out a loud laugh when you splashed back at her.
Turning off the camera, laying on your stomachs against your boards, holding hands so you wouldnt drift away from eachother. It was heaven. “So...ive been thinking lately.”She started, a nervous look on her face.
You raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue. “And I think I want you to meet my friends.”She tapped her fingernails against your surfboard, waiting anxiously for your answer. She had told the boys all about you.
About how you had a huge following on youtube, how your dad was an actor and how you lived in the biggest house on figure eight. She had tried her best to tell them that you werent like the others, that you were fantastic and humble.
But of course they didnt believer her and ‘would believe it when they saw it’.She knew that if she didnt end up introducing you to them sooner or later that she’d lost the chance to introduce you at all.
You nodded, considering it. “Yeah, okay. When?”You asked, hoping you’d at least have time to think about this. “Tomorrow.”She replied, wincing when you let out a small shout. “Tomorrow?Shit-Kie, im not ready!”You exclaimed, covering your mouth when you realised how loud you had been.
“Babe, chill.Let me pick out your outfit and it’ll be fine.”She insisted. You gave in, the two of you paddling back to the sand, wrapping up in your towels and sitting on the blanket, eating some cutie oranges.
She spent the night at your house, holding on tight to you even though the two of you were in a king sized bed and she had more than enough space to spread out like a starfish.
The morning came too fast, Kiara raiding your closet for something appropriate for the occasion, pleased when she came across a black bathing suit and a yellow shirt along with some jeans, tossing them at you.
“Babe, you gotta get up.”She told you, already dressed and ready to go.You groaned, finally getting up a few minutes later, slowly changing and not even bothering to pick up your pajamas. You were still sore from last night, stretching your limbs as you pulled the jeans up your body. The boys were spamming her phone, making her annoyed.
Dumb Blonde:Where are you guys
God:Are you bringing them with you
Trash Rat:Dont bring them with you
Trash Rat:The place is a mess
Trash Rat:Kie
Trash Rat:Kiara
Trash Rat:Kiara Madelyn Klark Carrera
God:Where are you guys
Dumb Blonde:Wait are they the one with the dad that was in that one movie
She ignored their texts, turning off her notifications and sending you a quick smile, promising to get you an iced coffee on the way.You were half asleep in the passengers seat until she handed you a french vanilla iced coffee, slowly becoming awake.
By the time you had finished your coffee she had pulled into John.B’s drive way, hand on your thigh in attempts to calm you down. “You’re gonna be fine, babe.Everyone likes you, they just havent met you yet.”She grinned, getting out of the car.
You squeezed her hand, following her into the house. The boys were all sitting on the couch, looking up once the two of you had entered.JJ immediately looked you up and down, raising an eyebrow. You felt a bit insecure, trying to figure out what he thought of you.
“This is (Y/N).(Y/N), these are the boys.Thats John.B, thats JJ and thats Pope.”She pointed to each of the boys. The tension in the room was ridiculous until Kiara pulled you into her lap, the boys looking between eachother. “So whats it like having a movie star as a dad?”JJ asked, the first one to speak up.
You bit your bottom lip, pulling at the skin on your hands. “umm...its really cool sometimes.Chris Hemsworth is a family friend so thats cool but like...I cant go anywhere with him when he’s home without getting followed around and there was this one teenage girl stalking him once and she was climbing our house and was watching me sleep.”You answered, relieved when you heard Pope chuckle.
“Wait, actually?Thats so scary.”He replied, the two of you beginning to calm down a bit. You, John.B and JJ were all conversating about Chris Hemsworth, all of them asking a lot of questions.
“Wait-who else have you met from the Avengers?”John.B asked. “I met Scarlet Johanson and Chris Evans.”You replied.Kiara smacked your leg. “You met Christ Evans and never told me?”She asked, outraged.
You rolled your eyes, pulling out your phone to show them the vlog that Chris had made an appearance in.Kiara was just confused as to why she had never seen it before you informed her that it was private.
“Ew-ignore my face.Just wait a few seconds.”You told them, the phone between the circle that had ended up forming. “Oh my god!Its Chris Evans!”JJ shouted, staring at the phone.Chris had leaned over your shoulder, saying a quick ‘hello’ to the camera before Scarlet stole it from you.
“This is Scarlet Johannson and I have decided to take over my new role as (Y/N)’s mom.Im sorry (Y/M/N) but they’re mine now.”She smiled. Her hair had been dyed a light blonde, red lipstick and light eyeshadow.
You had been freaking out the whole time. “Wait-will you ever see her again?”JJ asked. You hummed, sure that she’d be making an appearance for a Christmas Party. “Can you tell her I love her, please?”He asked, face red. “She reaches my vlogs-do you guys want to be in one?”You offered, remembering that you had your camera in your bag.
They all agreed, excited as you took out your camera, Kiara holding onto you. “So Kiara introduced me to her friends today and JJ has a special message for Scarlet.”You grinned, pointing the camera towards him. “Marry me, please.”He winked, giggling.
Pope flashed a peace sign at the camera, John.B sticking out his tongue and doing finger guns. “This is John.B and this is Pope, and then we have Kie as always.”You pointed the camera at her.She bit her lip, winking at the camera and making you laugh.
“Oh my god- what is this vlog.”You shook your head, turning off the camera. When you had posted the vlog that night you were spammed with comments demanding JJ’s instagram and of course you had to give the people what they wanted.
JJ was more than happy to have a ton of pretty girls hyping him up in his comments, Pope getting a lot of attention as well.Scarlet had made sure to let you know that she had watched it and to tell JJ that he was too young for her but she was flattered by the offer. But then your instagram was being spammed. You were being tagged in dozens of edits of you and Kie along with one of you and JJ.But the comments on that one were so funny.
Kieand(Y/N)4life:bruh no
(Y/N)officialfanpage:no <3
(Y/N)officialfanpage:Kiara and them are meant to be bb
Kiara(Y/L/N):Kiara and them are meant to be buddy
KIEANDYNAREENDGAME:uhhh isnt it confirmed that Kiara and (Y/N) are dating?
“They’re catching on.”You told Kie, sitting down on the bed and showing her all the things you were tagged in.She grinned, telling you to post and make it official. “You sure?”You asked. She nodded, fixing her hair as you got ready to take a photo, kissing her cheek. She bit her lip, watching you type.
We are endgame.
