Hey Edna, I’ve been thinking a lot about the similarities between Katya (Goncharov 1973), and Peggy Carter in terms of agency and being heard within their respective communities. Would love to hear your thoughts

Oh where do we begin!

There are definitely parallels between Katya and Peggy. Like you said, both of them struggle at first with being heard. That opening scene of the mafia meeting, when the audience literally only see slivers of her through fancy Italian suits, and even her ‘yes’ to being told to bring more coffee is barely heard. It does remind me of Peggy’s line about how she’s invisible unless she’s got someone’s file or coffee or something.

Unfortunately, for the first half of the film, Katya actually cuts a much more tragic figure than Peggy. One distinct difference is, of course, that Peggy has got allies in her male-dominated world, while Katya does not. Peggy at least has got Jarvis and Daniel; Katya does not have that privilege. All the men around her are planted there by, well, other men. Her bodyguards are her husband’s henchmen. And unlike Peggy, who chooses to stay at the SSR despite the slights and abuses, Katya is stuck with Goncharov. Even Andrey Daddano, who is probably the nicest—comparatively speaking—man to Katya in the whole film, is too busy staring moon-eyed at Goncharov to really notice Katya’s plight and her call for help.

(Basically—imagine AC S1 if Daniel is entirely too preoccupied with staring longingly at Jack, and completely ignoring Peggy's struggles in the office. That’s how sad it is for Katya.)

We also see Katya relying a lot more on…well, being a woman than Peggy does, and Peggy does that a lot already. Because beneath the taking advantage of sexism and all, Peggy is a skilled spy. Once she has seduced a man into distraction (102 Sweet Dreams lipstick where would Peggy be without you), she can handle all the tasks herself. Katya could not do that. Both because of a lack of skill and because of physical confinement at times, not only does Katya have to rely on seducing men to get places, she has to manipulate them and sometimes even give them favours to get things done, which places her in a much more vulnerable position than Peggy has ever been in.

Then there is, of course, the kiss between her and Sofia, which does call to mind the kiss between Dottie and Peggy in 1x06. However, I do have to give credits to Goncharov for one thing: while AC plays into the kiss of death trope, Goncharov quite smartly subverts it. Because see—like Peggy, Katya falls victim to internalised misogyny and underestimates Sofia, writing her off as nothing more than a henchman’s arm candy. So when she kisses Sofia to incriminate her, on the surface, it reads like a kiss of death. BUT it actually is through Sofia that Katya finally finds her ticket to freedom.

In fact, I would even argue that comparing Katya to Dottie is more appropriate than comparing her to Peggy. Sure, on the surface it sounds like lazy analysis—just directly comparing two Russian characters. But from the perspective of both Dottie and Katya, their female connections are what give them a chance to escape and finally build their own lives. Dottie is used by Ivchenko, instead of being allowed to plan a mission herself. If she has struck a deal with Jack in early S2 instead of taking advantage of her connection to Peggy, she would never have had the chance to run free after the party. Same for Katya—she has kissed multiple men in the film, but by seducing and finally kissing Sofia, she found someone who can actually help her escape Goncharov’s control.

There is something almost Thelma and Louise-esque in the ending, when we see Katya at her husband’s funeral looking more relieved than mournful, and the teasing closing shot of Sofia observing—if not waiting—on the periphery of the funeral party. That is honestly a far kinder treatment of a lesbian relationship than I would ever have expected from a 1970s film. (And to think Marvel teased us a Cartinelli ending then never brought Angie back…for shame, Feige, for shame…)

From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

I would give it a solid three, I think I write simplistic and descriptive enough to give a good story out there. 

What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

I think the length? I have lots of people compliment me on my ability to write a conclusive drabble and short shorties and poems have always been my favorite to read.

Are there any writers that inspire you?

On Tumblr, I have been inspired by the first people who introduced me to fandom and taught me how to use my writing abilities. Some have deactivated by now but my most prominent writing inspiration is @outerspacious. 

What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

Oh, it has to be my Layla story. Together. In a way, the story describes everything I have ever hoped for regarding a f/f relationship, like the dream of living with your loved one somewhere where you can only acknowledge your love in specific places.

Which character(s) do you find easiest to write and which do you find most difficult to write?

Oh, it’s so easy for me to write for Sam Wilson of course, and Frank Castle, Matt Murdock, Selina Kyle, and Brunnhilde. The most difficult is Gamora unfortunately, I would love to write more about her but I feel like I don’t have enough material to grasp on.

Who or what do you find yourself writing about most?

Love of course, first loves, falling in love, falling out of love, & a healthy dose of some toxic relationships.

Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about!

Very Excited about this toxic love kind of story I’ve been brewing in my head for a while now. Something about equally drawing energy over each other without ever acknowledging they are the one you need/want more.

First fandom you ever wrote for?

Beyblade! A thousand years ago when I was a teen <3

Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?

Once again I love writing about toxic relationships using people and completely draining someone out of their emotions. Maybe to get over past experiences cause it’s fun to explore “forbidden” feelings but it’s a fun process to write from that perspective. 

A trope you’ll never, ever write for.

Hmmm, I never liked the soulmate trope I guess. 

What is the wildest fic you’ve ever written?

Okay not here, but back in the Beyblade fandom I sued to write/keep the diary of one of the players and it was full of wild shenanigans and insane things that happened to him every day and it was just completely unhinged. 

Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!)

Any character I fancy x me is and will always be my favorite pairing cause I write for me <3

Do you listen to anything while you write?

I try to! I got some specific playlists for some characters such as Bruce Tony or Matt and then I got others I searched for based on vibes for the story I wanted.

One-shots or multi-chaptered works?

One shot. 

Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!

I have! I had this whole thing in my head when I wrote ‘Party Tricks’ to sort of have the reader experience each one of the Avengers I guess in different situations and a couple of other ideas that have been lost in the void that is my brain.

15. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

Ugh so many. I have some stories I have experienced that I want to turn into fics but I’m too shy to do it, unfortunately.

17. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?

Whenever I write about Bruce Banner I get the best compliments from some lovely people who you know just get *it* get the obsession. 

Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?

I always try to push my comfort zone a little, the things I enjoy are limited so I always try to think in a way of the audience, of the other side, just look at anything a little more round rather than straightforward. It’s something I’d encourage anyone to do sincerely.

Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?

Oh, fluff for sure. For me, angst is only for that one day a month when you need to feel everything, fluff is my daily dose of happiness.

Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!

I don’t have OCs but I would love to venture into that at some point in my life.

If you could enter the universe of any one of your fics, which would it be and why?

Honestly, any fic, all are unique in a way and I just wanna get an in you know. But mostly I’d love to enter any kind of vamp au I’ve made, I feel like I’d get to know such a new and interesting kind of life.

Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?

I need to write the main thing in under one hour typing fast, no distractions, just pure focus. I guess learning what someone’s writing style is like teaches you a lot about that person and the sort of the fic they choose to write. But mostly I need to have the idea so vividly inside my head before I even attempt to write it, I can’t write a sentence per day, it needs to be at least 600 words.

You need to try to write about everything you dream of, no matter whether you’re going publish it or not or show it to a friend, I think many people can write and just are afraid to do so. Fandom and Tumblr give you such an opportunity to explore yourself and your talents through something so simple as dreaming about a character and writing about any situation. I wish more people weren’t afraid although the lack of acknowledgment from the audience is draining, finding friends and good people in fandom is a possibility, and joining incredibly well-mannered servers helps you even more!

Major Blog Updates!!!!!

TLDR: I will be on a Writing hiatus as I do some digital spring cleaning and restart some old stories I’m not happy with. But expect many new crazy life updates now that I’ve moved. And some old, or maybe new ocs will start slowly trickling back in.

No wonder I was so stressed last year, I have 11 active series and counting… 💀 and yes, I am insane enough that I’m about to restart most of them from scratch. I wasn’t happy with the way things were going with most of them, and how sloppily they were written as I never expected there to be so many of you, to whom I’m very grateful for 🥺🥰🫀

This move seemed like the perfect time to just reinvent myself as a whole, and that includes my social media presence. I’m trying to build better, healthier habits this year. And one of them is learning how to say no every once and a while. Slow down and enjoy the little things. My Autism and OCD make it very difficult for me to say no to writing requests. But I’m working hard to make sure to only accept requests when I have the energy and the excitement to do so. I would be devastated to give you all content that I know is not my best, which is why I think a rewrite is in order. 🥰

It will be a big daunting task, but the point of it is to teach me to learn to approach my fear tasks like this. I have seriously considered becoming a writer for real and taking this more seriously, and Fan Fics are the perfect way to practice. Because you all always leave such lovely feedback 🥺 and it’s my favourite of writing. There would be no point to my words if they couldn’t be shared, and to have you all want me to write for you all the time is one of the greatest honours I could ever receive.

I love being able to give you all back even a fraction of the joy you bring me, by bringing your wildest dreams to life. You’re all like family to me and I love you so much. 🫀

So yeah, sorry if your faves aren’t back for a while, EVERYONES getting a MAJOR makeover, but they will be back and better than ever! I’ll keep the old stories up in case people liked reading them. But pretty much from here on out, assume none of my old writing is “Cannon”.

Nothing makes me happier than writing for you all, but last year I let it get out of hand and stress me out to a very dangerous point. This year I will be more proactive about taking my time and not overloading myself with requests.

As for the Role Play blogs, they will also be getting a face lift. But do not fret my sweets, I will have everything neatly organised for your handy Dandy viewing pleasure. I will do my very best to keep on top of master lists and links (bare in mind I am still disabled and chronically ill so sometimes it just takes me a while to do things) that way there’s no stress for me in the future and I can keep track of all my things nice and neatly. My autism demands routine and hyper-specific organisation categories. And I’m tried of trying to fight it, so I’m willing to put in the work to make some healthy routines in the hopes that my brain will feel less like that of Frankenstein’s monster.

I will make Rule posts and DNI banners for all my pages. Therefore there’s less room for miscommunications. And I will be far more active about remembering to put Tw/CW. My wonderful partner @disableddee has agreed to help me edit works in the future and proof for triggering topics. Unfortunately Due to the environment I was raised in, it’s hard for me to tell when things are traumatic or abusive. So I never mean to trauma dump or forget tags on purpose. I genuinely do. It realise some of these topics may be triggering to other people, and of course I want to be very sensitive to that.

Ok I have never posted on Tumblr before, but have a LOT of thoughts about Taylor’s curated playlists corresponding to the 5 stages of grief, so I’m jumping in!

My first impression was of course sadness about all the Joe love songs in here. I mean, she literally put the song “Lover” in “Denial!” Yikes. But also, to all the people ready to attack Joe when TTPD comes out, I think it’s important to point out that he’s not even ON the “Anger” list at all. Yes, things ended. Yes, it’s sad. She was sad. But that doesn’t mean he’s a terrible guy.

Oh, and Taylor L. is nowhere on the list! Yes, he is definitely the best ex lol.

@10holmes Thanks for the 'Get to know your fic writer!' ask! :) As my answer got lengthy (of course), I thought best to make a separate post. Answers are under the cut.

Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chaptered fics?

I like both, but I tend to lean more towards one-shots. When I get a bug for a story, I’m kinda desperate to get it down asap so multi-chaptered fics are harder as they take more time and planning and, especially, patience. That said, I really enjoyed writing The Prisoner of Jinlintai and The Tamed and was really surprised I managed to write – and finish! – such long, multi-chaptered stories. I hope I can do so again in the future 😊

Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

All over the place! From the original canon, from memes and gifs online, from meta and headcanons other fans share, from songs, from dreams… Sometimes ideas just spring unexpectedly but fully formed into my head. That moment of inspiration is always exciting – but then it’s got to be transferred to paper, which is harder :D

how do you write emotional scenes? Do you ever feel what the characters feel? Do you draw from personal experiences?

I think emotional scenes are ones I struggle with a bit. I often feel my writing ends up a bit clunky and melodramatic! But I try to put myself in the characters’ shoes and imagine how they would feel in that situation, their reactions to other characters’ words and actions. I think though, however unintentionally, my own personality probably seeps into the characters to a certain extent, which I know is not ideal! Particularly when I write Xue Yang, I often think I hold him back too much when he would probably fly wild 😉

Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

Hmm, probably either Priceless or Life Imitates Art, as they’re both a bit taboo!

How do you spend your time when it comes to fanfiction? Are you primarily a fic reader, writer, or a perfect 50/50 split of both?

Hmm, it varies from time to time. Sometimes I binge fics and don’t read anything for ages, sometimes I’m so caught up in the stories in my head that I don’t read anything at all. But probably on balance, I’m primarily a reader. There have certainly been long periods of time in the past when I’ve barely written anything at all but have devoured loads of fics. It just happens that more recently I’ve developed an obsession with The Untamed and have had the time, energy and inspiration to indulge in writing again (which has been a joy!).

Does anyone in your personal life know you write fic? if not, would you tell anyone?

Only a very small group of irl friends know I write fic. I discovered fanfic in my teens, started writing it myself in 2012 and never told anyone about it until last year. Sometimes I see on tumblr people saying their mum or their sister etc read their fics and I’m always amazed – I think that’s wonderful! I can’t imagine telling anyone in my family about the things I write – let alone allowing them to read it! Esp the explicit stuff :O I’d die of embarrassment lol. And they’d probably die of shock!

Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written from The Prisoner of Jinlintai story/chapter?

Ooh, difficult question! I think there are lots of parts I really like from TPOJ, I’m pretty proud of that story (if I may say so!). I think chapters 25 & 29 are particular favourites, probably for similar reasons – ch25 is the first time XXC stays overnight in XY’s room, they’ve got frisky before but this time there’s more emotion behind it, and it’s preceded by XY actually being concerned about XXC and taking care of him. And in ch29 we get a glimpse of XXC being concerned about XY when he’s late back from his work, and then the scene when XY arrives back and finds XXC asleep in his bed, all calm and peaceful and beautiful. And XY is kind of struck dumb, surprised to find him there, unsure of his own reaction, but in the end just crawls into bed and falls asleep with him in his arms. I envisaged that scene so clearly in my mind, saw XY walk slowly and cautiously through the darkness, all alert, and then suddenly stop at the sight of his bed, his eyes widening, his body frozen, his fingers twitching, wanting to touch… And then I really like the last paragraph of that scene:

The room was so quiet and still. Xiao Xingchen was warm in his arms. Xue Yang held him carefully, as though Xiao Xingchen was some fragile thing that would break if he wasn't careful enough. He felt strange; his heart was still doing some weird fluttering thing that made it slightly hard to breathe. Maybe he was just overtired. He brushed his lips against Xiao Xingchen's neck and closed his eyes.

👻 What is your wildest headcanon?

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

@joeyjoeylee I first need to tell you that I am incapable of not fangirl squealing any time I see you across platforms. I love your Brio takes and I love your fandom interaction. You’re such a class act.

❤️ My favorite line I’ve written… Hmm. Ok, this is gonna be so anticlimactic but my favorite line I’ve written is: “‘Baby…’ he murmured, his voice hoarse, and she closed her eyes.” It’s my favorite because I saw that moment in my head months before I ever even considered writing a fanfic. It was one of my favorite pet moments in chapter 13 of Rough Night, where Brio have their first fight as a couple and Rio (also Beth but mostly Rio) is so defeated by it. They argue, they stomp away, Beth overreacts and is ready to just give up on the whole thing. In my mind, that moment carried so much heaviness for Rio of their entire relationship. It’s like, he’s been endlessly serving her, fighting for her, forgiving her, choosing her. And just as he allowed himself to get close to her and let his guard down just a bit, she’s pulling her old crap again and running away again. So in my Brio brain that was such a moment of sadness and desperation and unwillingness to resign himself to a loss yet again. It’s not much of a line but it’s fraught with meaning for my fandom heart.

👻 My wildest headcanon is probably not too wild. I think Rio was drunk or high (or both) for the majority of his most vulnerable or impactful interactions with Beth. His “I’m gonna teach you” moment, his entire “you wanna be the king” speech, all the times they sat in his car and he rolled his head on his headrest to look at her all meaningfully. His “who’s more fun, me or the van people” moment in my favorite episode (4.08) he was so inebriated he staggered a little when he stepped down from his car. For sure 2.13. He was almost irrationally impaired.

🎨 If someone made fanart of my work I would probably explode. It wouldn’t matter which part. Someone being moved enough to make art based on anything I inspired in them is beyond an honor. That being said, the final moment of Rough Night in the upcoming closing chapter is actually based on a piece of show fan art by Septiembre. I wrote fanart of their fanart. I need to remember to post it when I post the final chapter!!!

You Shook Me All Night Long | Luke Patterson x OC

Request: No, I literally just thought of this and decided to give writing something on here a try

Word Count: 3705 words

Summary: Caleb Covington’s daughter sees something she wants and goes after it

Warnings: heavy make out session, almost handjob, cursing, possibly horrible writing

A/N: This is literally my first time writing anything for tumblr. Feedback will be greatly appreciated. If you think this is good and want a part 2 let me know.

I watched from the side of the stage as Willie came walking down the staircase with three new delicious-looking ghosts. He paused and spoke to them for a moment before sliding down the railing with a laugh. He gestured to the ballroom in front of them as the guys all looked around the room in amazement.

“Your father wants to know if you’re ready for showtime,” One of the twins said to me with her hands on her hips.

“You are not the one to be asking me if I’m ready for the show, Rosie, when you don’t even have your wig on your head yet,” I told the dark brunette, not taking my eyes off of the boys.

Rose huffed at me in annoyance before leaving my side to return to her sister and inform my father that I was ready.

I watched one of the waiters escort Willie and the three boys to a table front and center of the stage and smirked at the thought of giving all of them a show.

“Ladies and gentlemen, back from the dead by popular demand, please welcome Caleb Covington,” the voice announced over the speakers.

Applause echoed through the ballroom and I laughed at Willie’s cheering from the front of the audience. I watched as dad poofed in, floating above the stage and looking over the audience with his award-winning smile.

“Did you miss me,” He called out to the crowd, calling all of them to cheer. “I did too!” I rolled my eyes as the crowd laughed at his statement before he continued speaking. “Welcome… to the party of your dreams!” Everyone cheered once again and dad began floating closer to the boys as he started his monologue. “From the Egyptians to the Druids, to the person sitting next to you, we’ve all wondered, “where do we go when that final light is snuffed out?” Allow me to show you.”

Dad began singing and I prepared myself for my queue to join the show, as did the twins behind me.

The twins appeared along with the band as dad continued singing. I waited for the twins to get close to dad and put their feather fans up behind him before appearing behind them. The two of them moved their fans with a spin and I poofed in. My dad moved to the side and gestured to me, causing the usual people to cheer for me with glee. Dad grabbed my hand and spun me before dipping me. He then brought me back up and helped me walk down the stairs towards the boys in the front. 

I split off from him to grab his cane from the side as the waiters danced around him and showed the boys the food from the club. 

Everything has got a price but happiness is free

Just so happens you’re in luck we got a vacancy

I walked up to the side of him with his cane and tossed it to him. I then walked up to Willie’s table and took the décor off the top of it swiftly before walking away. I watched as dad grabbed the tablecloth of the table and lifted it, causing a dancer to appear on the boys table.

We can set the night on fire and break out of the scene

More dancers appeared on top of the tables after the waiters took the table cloths off the top of them. I walked back to the very front of the group and smirked at the three boys as I danced with the rest of the dancers. I quickly made my way up to the stairs where my father is at and took his cane from him. I waited for him to poof up to the top of the stage again before tossing the cane back towards him.

I then joined up on the pedestal he was standing on and clapped and sang with the rest of the dancers as dad continued singing. Dad made his way off the pedestal and helped me down before we started our way down the stairs again.

Dad and I stood in front of the group and danced as the boys looked at us in amazement.

Dad said, pointing up to the ceiling where trapeze artists began to dangle on rings. I watched as the boy in the leather jacket began to rise from his seat before the boy in the denim jacket grabbed him and pulled him back into his seat. Dad then grabbed my hand and began walking me through the dancers back to the stage as we sand the chorus of the song. We stood in the middle of it and the twins came over to us with a black sheet. They laid it down and began lifting it up in front of the two of us.

Ain’t it the best?

“Bye-bye,” The twins giggled out as dad and I poofed out then dropped the sheet back to the ground.

I smiled with satisfaction as the crowd cheered for us loudly. I looked out at them from the wings of the stage, especially the three boys and watched as Willie talked to them.

“Darling, go mingle while I handle some business, will you,” Dad told me as his assistant helped him remove his jacket.

I turned and smiled at him before nodding and making my way out from backstage. I started making a b-line to my desired table as soon as I was in view of it.

"Willie," I yelled out with a giant grin, waving at the adorable skater.

"Charlotte, hey," Willie greeted me with a grin that was bigger than mine.

The young ghost stood up from his table and pulled me into a hug warmer than any of the ones I've ever accepted from my father. I pulled away from him and straightened out his suit jacket as he turned back to the three other boys sitting at his table.

"Charlotte, this is Alex, Luke, and Reggie," he pointed to all three boys.

Alex waved at me with a giant grin on his face while Reggie stared at me in awe and Luke looked completely speechless and wide-eyed.

"Guys, this is-"

"Charlotte Covington, it's a pleasure," I cut Willie off as I grinned at the three boys seductively. "I've gotta say, I wouldn't mind having myself a little taste of each of you. Although I must admit, blonde is one of my favorite flavors," I told all of them with a smirk before winking at Alex.

Alex looked at me in shock before shaking himself out of it and then clearing his throat awkwardly. "I'm gay."

I let out a little giggle and shook my head before looking at him smugly. "Oh, honey, trust me. One night with me and I'll have you playing for both teams," I whispered to him, leaning in close and grazing my hand along his cheek.

Alex gulped and stared at me wide-eyed much like Luke and Reggie.

I heard a throat clear behind me and felt a slight pinch to my side, causing me to stand up straight and place my hand on my hip.

"However, it seems that Willie has already claimed you. Shame. You two, however… " I trailed off, looking over at Luke and Reggie, starting to walk around the table to stand in between the two of them.

The two of them stared up at me silently. I looked in between the two of them before smirking and moving behind Luke. I leaned down close to his ear and smoothed my hands over the shoulders of his denim jacket.

"I love it when my boys have green eyes and curly hair," I whispered in his ear, running my hand up into the back of his hair and giving it a little tug. I smirked as Luke swallowed back a groan of pleasure and stood back up straight. I looked over at Reggie and gave him a wink. "I'm afraid you might just be too sweet for me. I'd break you," I told him honestly, running my finger down the side of his face.

"Charlotte."

I sighed before looking up at the man standing behind Reggie. "Yes, father."

"Why don't you go and mingle with our other guests? Make sure they're enjoying themselves and are being properly entertained," he told me with a pointed look.

I sighed in annoyance before nodding. "Yes, sir." I turned around and faced Luke again. I smirked at him and leaned down so we were face to face and placed my pointer finger under his chin to hold it up. "Save me a dance, will ya."

Luke gulped and nodded, causing me to breathe out a laugh. I leaned forward and placed a kiss on his cheek before standing straight and moving towards the back of the ballroom. However, before I was far enough away I heard a voice breathe out a quiet "holy shit" causing my smirk that was previously on my face to widen.

I stepped back in shock as Reggie went rushing past me with sadness written all over his face. I looked back in front of me to see Luke standing there with annoyance and his arms crossed across his chest. I took the time to admire the veins popping out of them before walking towards him.

“What’s wrong with Reggie,” I questioned him curiously.

“He found out about the new Star Wars movies and how they killed Han Solo,” He explained to me simply with a sigh.

“Awe, poor guy. So does that mean he knows about Jar Jar,” I asked, looking up at his green eyes.

“No, and please don’t tell him. That’s a whole other mess I don’t have the strength to deal with,” Luke begged me, causing me to smirk up at him.

“So you have the strength to deal with… other situations,” I asked him cheekily.

Luke looked down at me and smirked confidently. “If they have anything to do with you I can promise you I can handle any situation.”

“Really? Are you sure about that,” I questioned him confidently with a hint of seduction.

I could see Luke’s confidence falter, causing my smirk to widen. This is going to be fun.

"Luke, I want you to do something for me," I told the green-eyed brunette, stepping closer to him and running my hands along his chest and up to his shoulders.

Luke stared into my eyes and swallowed thickly before nodding at me. "Anything."

I smirked and stood on my tiptoes to reach his ear. "Imagine you and me in my room. Just the two of us. You are sitting on my bed. I'm standing in front of you in nothing but your denim jacket," I whispered into his ear. Luke reaches forward and grabs me by the waist, pulling me closer to him. I could feel his fingers pressing into my waist and a bulge pressing into my stomach. Luke began breathing heavily into my neck and I could hear a little groan leaving his lips. "Imagine the fun we could have together if we got ourselves alone," I whispered to him before taking his earlobe in between my teeth and giving it a nibble. Luke gave my neck a kiss before I pulled away from him. I smirked up at him and slowly ran my hands back down to his chest. “Still think you can handle any situation with me,” I whispered to him smugly before slowly letting my hands travel down to his pants. I let my hand graze over the bulge in his pants before walking away from him with a sway in my hips.

I looked up to the front of the ballroom to see my dad on the stage once again. I moved back up to the front of the room and stood a bit to the side of the boy’s table as my father began speaking again.

“I take it you’re all enjoying the feast,” Dad said, causing everyone in the audience to cheer in response. “So many delicious sights, so many tantalizing sounds. But… your eyes still hunger for more. Something sweet.” The crowd cheered at his words. “Something… savory.” The crowd laughed at his words. “How many newcomers do we have in the club tonight?” The crowd cheered and a few people, including the boys, raised their hands up in the air. “Ladies, let’s show our guests how we do dessert. A one, two, three, four!”

The swing music starts up again and the dancers move to the dance floor to show off their moves to the audience. Willie cheered and I watched dad lay across the top of the piano as he started singing.

Dad climbed from the piano and danced with the twins in the middle of the stage. He turned and the twins dipped him backwards as he sang.

I watched as some of the dancers got down on the floor in front of the boy's table as they sang.

I moved from my spot on the side and moved to Willie’s side. I placed my hand on his shoulder, causing him to smile up at me. He looked back at Alex and pat his shoulder before jumping up from his seat and joining me on the dance floor. The two of us joined the dancers with big smiles as my dad started down the stairs of the stage once again. Once my father was behind us I moved from my spot on the dance floor back to my spot to the side of the boy's table. Willie grabbed Alex and pulled him up, causing Luke and Reggie to join them quickly. I watched as the same dancer dressed in pink that appeared on the table earlier snaked through the boys, kicked her leg up in front of them with Luke holding her up, and then danced on Reggie a bit before running her hand along his face. Said boy fainted a bit and Luke caught him and pushed him back up as Alex helped him stand correctly.

I watched as my father walked up to the boys with the twins on each side of him. I stood to the side and winked at Rose as she looked over at me. She smirked at me before my dad twirled her and her sister towards Reggie and Luke. Rose spun Luke around into my arms before she turned around and joined her sister in dancing with Reggie.

"Hope you saved me that dance," I smiled up at him.

"I'm saving you a lot more than just a dance, trust me," Luke smirked down at me confidently.

I hummed at him in amusement. "I hope you brought your dancing shoes. Think you can keep up?"

"I think I should be asking you that," Luke told me before pulling me close to him.

"I'm not the one that doesn't know the moves," I told him, beginning to lead him in a dance.

We ended our dance with Luke grabbing my hand and spinning me into him. My back pressed to his front and Luke's arms wrapped around me. We continued swaying back and forth as Luke buried his face in my neck. I tilted my head to the side to give him more room as he took a deep breath in and began leaving soft kisses up and down the span of my neck. I sucked in a sharp breath when he started nibbling and sucking here and there too until he would get to my ear and give it a little lick before taking my earlobe in between his teeth and nibbling. During our swaying, I began pushing myself further back into Luke and grinding my ass into his pelvis as discreetly as possible. When I felt his bulge against me the two of us let out small moans of pleasure in unison.

"What I would give to be alone with you right now," Luke whispered huskily into my ear.

I moaned at the thought of what we could do together. I pulled one of my hands out of his and spun around to face him. He wrapped his free arm around my waist and brought me close to him once again, causing me to feel his bulge even more. Our chests were pressed together and both of us were breathing heavily as Luke began swaying us again. I looked up into his eyes to see them lust blown with want as he stared down at me and bit his lip and I smirked knowing I looked the same as him. 

I began taking steps backward slowly and he followed me with no problem. Once we were off the dance floor I stepped away from him and tightened my grip on his hand before leading him to one of the darker corners of the club. As soon as we reached our destination I pressed my back up against the wall and pulled Luke towards me, pressing my lips against his. Luke immediately began reciprocating the kiss and pressed himself against me. He placed his forearms up against the wall to lean against them as our kiss because more heated with our teeth clashing together. I wrapped my arms around Luke's neck and lifted one of my legs up to wrap around his waist to bring him even closer to me. Luke groaned as his bulge pressed against my heat with the new proximity. Luke broke apart our kiss for air and began leaving messy kisses up and down my neck again as I moaned and began grinding against him. 

"Luke," I moaned out, bringing my hands up into the back of his hair and giving it a tug as I did earlier.

"Fuck, that's so hot," Luke groaned out before lifting his head out of my neck and pressing his lips to mine once again.

Luke ran his tongue along my lip, asking for entrance, but I denied it with a smirk. I could feel Luke's irritation at the action and moaned when he pressed himself further into me. Luke tried again, and I smiled as I gripped his lip between my teeth and tugged on it. Luke groaned at me and I smirked as I pressed my lips to his once again and gained the entrance that he so desperately wanted myself. Our tongues fought each other for dominance before I relented and let him win the battle. I allowed my hands to leave his neck and begin wandering down his toned body to his pants.

"If you start that, I won't be able to stop," Luke whispered to me between kisses.

"Good," I breathed out, moving to tuck my hand into his pants.

Luke groaned at my action, but I didn't get far due to the chiming of the bell in the front of the ballroom. 

"The haunting hour is upon us," Dad announced mysteriously.

Everybody in the club let out little "ooh's" of amusement as I rolled my eyes. Luke smiled at me in amusement before looking back at the front of the room. Everybody went back to dancing, causing me to grab Luke’s cheeks to bring his lips back to mine, but Luke fought against me as he stared at the clock wide-eyed.

“12? How… how’d that happen,” Luke said in shock as I briefly glanced at the clock again before trailing my hands from his face down his body once again to his pants. I bit my lip as I started tucking my hand into his pants once again, but a pout took over my lips as he moved away from my hand and grabbed it with his own, gently slipping it back out of his pants. “I’m sorry, Charlotte, but I’ve gotta go.”

“Wha-,” I started before I was cut off by him.

“I’m sorry. I really am,” He breathed out before rushing away from me and towards Reggie.

I huffed as I watched him run away and crossed my arms over my chest with a pout. “So much for having fun tonight.”

Way To His Heart

Summary: There’s only one thing Dean loves as much as pie and that’s the reader. (Dean Winchester x GenderNeutral!Reader)

“Is it done yet?”

“Dean, I swear if you keep asking me, I’m gonna force you to watch Sammy and I eat the whole thing ourselves.”

“(Y/N), that’s the most sadistic thing you’ve ever said to me.”

Laughing at his retort, you motion for him to join you further in the kitchen. He does, hoping to steal some of the cherry filling that he’s been eying for the past five minutes.

“You can help me with the last few steps.” After explaining how to cut the rolled out dough, you leave him to finish the filling. For as skilled as he is during hunting, he looks completely lost with a kitchen knife in his hand. The first few pieces are wonky and unusable for the lattice pattern topping.

“Here, like this,” you giggle, standing behind him and guiding the movements of his hand. Dean goes rigid as your chest presses against his back. Even as you murmur for him to relax, his grip on the knife tightens.

You fall into a comfortable rhythm, both of you working together seamlessly. Assuming he can now do it on his own, you move away, albeit somewhat reluctantly, to fill the pie and start the topping.

From the way his body was reacting, you take a bold chance, “You wanna know a secret?”

“Sure,” he pauses, waiting for you to continue.

“The reason I’m always baking like this….is because I’m always hoping that maybe you’ll notice how much I like you. How much effort I put into everything. You know, since I’m always making your favorites.”

His expression gives nothing away and you feel awkward for even daring to bring it up. Minutes pass by and your heart sinks. Rather than saying anything else you’ll regret, you continue to give your attention to placing the pie in the oven and ignoring Dean’s intense gaze on your retreating form.

“It’s working, ya know.”

You falter, unsure of how to respond. Never in your wildest dreams did you think this confession would actually happen. In an attempt to hide your embarrassment, you hastily begin cleaning up. Dean watches you cautiously as you walk around the kitchen collecting the used spatulas, spoons, and bowls.

“Wanna lick the spoon?” You offer him the utensil that’s covered in the gooey fruit filling.

“Maybe later. I have something I’ve been dying to taste first.” Your face flushes as he smashes his lips to yours. Pie is definitely one way to his heart.

When I started this blog last September my goal was to get 500 followers. I saw some of the bigger blogs that I looked up to so much, and still look up to, and figured that my writing would never be as popular or as good as theirs. And even though my writing and my blog is still not on their level of popularity, I never imagined to have this big a following under my belt.

I have made so many friends because of this blog. I have met so many talented people who have inspired me to keep writing and to experiment with different elements of creative writing that I was not comfortable working with before.

I think we all know at this point that I am not the best with the follower milestone events I do, so instead of doing one of those I decided to make you all a mixtape. These are some of my favorite stories from some of the wonderful people I have met during my first year on this blog. This was also not an original idea btw. Is raising A-Yuan and everyone on the crew is like ‘wait he has a kid?’

New to the crew as he left home at 16 (thrown out by his mother), dropped out of high school, fell in with a bad crowd, may have been in a cult for a little while? he’s not actually sure. A-Yuan may or may not be his child, there’s a lot he doesn’t recall exactly, but when he got out he brought A-Yuan with him because the situation was pretty bad.

Is always ready to climb a roller coaster or jump from one building to another

Lan Wangji: I know there’s a temptation to make him the police officer but I love him as a paramedic

Never blinks at anything. Sees the wildest shit and just says ‘mn’ and starts doing his job.

Comes from a family of doctors. Lan Xichen is a renowned neurosurgeon. He’s viewed as a bit of a black sheep because he has an unfortunate adrenaline habit and after one in-the-field tracheotomy he never went back.

When Wei Wuxian joins the crew and starts pulling off stunts, he Disapproves Very Much. Angry at his own boner. This??? This is what he likes???

Wen Qing is the other paramedic, obviously.

Meng Yao as the other firefighter. Technically brilliant, has every handbook and manual memorized, can handle any situation. Instincts aren’t bad but he can’t teach them to himself and it really annoys him.

One good thing about a complete AU is I don’t have to deal with Meng Yao possibly being evil because I can just skip over all that shit.

On the other hand, he is very clinical and analytical in the field to the point where it can worry others. Meng Yao never thinks “maybe if we took a huge risk, we could save both these people”. Meng Yao chooses the one with the best chance of survival and saves that person. Does not lose sleep afterwards. Will probably fight with Wei Wuxian about it a lot.

ETA: Obviously, obviously, has an enormous crush on Lan Xichen, who visits his brother at the station occasionally. 

Fire Captain Nie Mingjue because he’s the only rational adult in the story. Also, those biceps, that chest, mm honey yes.

Nie Huaisang as the 911 operator. This stuns everyone who meets him. He’s a complete flake, flunked out of college, never knows whether he’s coming or going. Nobody believes that once he’s plugged in and on a call he is the coolest person under pressure they will ever meet. They have literally talked to him on the radio but still don’t believe it was him. He must have a twin. With the same name.

Jiang Cheng as the police sergeant that they work with frequently. He and Wei Wuxian fell out of touch for a while. Now they argue whenever they see each other. 

Meanwhile Wei Wuxian is always telling the other firefighters about how he has a little brother who’s a brilliant and amazing police officer, and Jiang Cheng brags about his older brother who fell into a bad situation but managed to pull himself out and get his shit together for the sake of his kid.

It gives everyone migraines when they realize these two are the brothers they are constantly talking about.

“But you fight literally all the time!” “Well, yeah, we’re brothers.”

Jiang Cheng has a K-9 partner because Wei Wuxian had a bunch of therapy to cure his phobia when he decided he wanted to be a firefighter.

So much hurt/comfort potential! So! Much! I mean, how many times do the characters in 911 end up in the hospital???

Okay now that I’ve basically written the whole fic in a tumblr post, I’ll be going...

Tips on creating fun fanfic headers!

i had so much fun writing the fanfic writing tips yesterday and i got a few more questions about header-making, and so i decided to make one more of these! i hope these tips help somebody out there! hope you enjoy :) 

p.s. these tips won’t require any hard editing skills or photoshop skills, nor any expensive tablets/apps! 

typically i spend around ~5-10 min creating one header, and that’s either after i think of/finish a fic. i have so much fun doing it and sharing it with you that i figured i’d share how i do it! 

why headers? 

as I talked about in my fic tips, one of the most eye-catching things about fics are headers. when i’m scrolling through a rec page, my home page, a tag, or even someone’s masterlist, i’m immediately drawn to well-made headers. that’s what captures my attention, and then i’m more drawn in by the content. so, you can say that headers is your own version of an ad for your own fic, or an extension of it (like the cover of a novel!) 

if you were writing your own book, imagine how much time you’d spend figuring out what you wanted your cover to look like. i try to have as much fun and invest as much time making my own headers because it’s just the cherry on top to my finished product :) 

disclaimer: BUT HEADERS ARE NOT NECESSARY/DO OR DIE! if you don’t feel like you want to do this, then keep writing! its ok! this is just a suggestion. i’ve seen plenty of well-written fics without headers at all, so don’t beat yourself up over not having one/not wanting to do one. this is truly just a fun, extra kind of thing, and only keep reading if you want to learn how i do it! :) 

tips for people who don’t want to make headers: if you still want something to make your fic stand out, use gifs! i use them in my drabbles a lot! this will at least give ur fic a lil boost! 

how to find pictures

I typically use unsplash, which is a free website in which photographers upload their HQ pics for free use. the pics are really high quality, typically stock photos, and don’t have any logos on them like other ones on google. unfortunately, you won’t find any pics of the members or anything, but you’ll find beautiful stock photos of typical scenes like “ocean scene” or “desert scene.” I found the stock photo for cut me open (shown below) on that site by just looking up “medical” or “doctor”. 

i used to use google a lot and just use keywords like “desert scene HQ” and edit the search settings to deliver HQ pics, and a minimum # of pixels, but unplash is definitely better in terms of quality, more aesthetic photos, and no logos/watermarks. 

on some occasions, i will screenshot some scenes of youtube videos, turning up the quality to 1080p or 4k and zooming in so that the pixelation is as crisp as possible, and then editing it later to look good (which i’ll explain in a second!) 

the above photo was a scene from the specific characters from the drama, “100 Days My Prince” that I screenshotted from a youtube video that TvN uploaded, recapping the drama. I cropped it just right so that their faces were left out, which i’ll also mention soon! 

things to look for when picking pictures: 

you want the picture to reflect a specific motif/theme from your fic! if its a moody fic, then try to find a moody scene that you can edit with filters/lighting to look even moodier; or if the characters’ jobs are a big portion of the fic (like cut me open/doctor theme) try to look for stock photos with that shown very clearly!

make sure its high quality: tumblr really dumbs down the quality of the photo when uploading it, so try your best to find something with a lot of pixels in it so that when you start editing, you don’t sacrifice too much of the quality already

try to look for something simple/clean: a picture with too much subject (ie. people in the background, or too much detail) may end up taking away from the main point of your header, which is your title. so find pics without too much clutter! 

try to make sure its landscape: which will help during editing to save some of the quality better. 

editing your pictures

now that you have a specific photo you want to use, now its time to edit! I use VSCO CAM (free app) and my own apple photos cropping tool for faster crops. 

crop/adjust: if your picture is too large/wide, crop it to at least a 16:9 ratio. i’d say aim for skinnier if you can, so that you don’t take up too much space (especially if you’re planning to add headers to your masterlist). also crop out any faces, any clutter, any unnecessary details, so you have a nice, clean slate to work on when adding text. 

contrast/sharpen/clarity/white balance/etc.: i’m not gonna give you a lesson on photography, but i’ll tell you I learned like 80% of everything that i know just by fiddling with it on VSCO! So just try it out and play with the app, see what you can make of it. i’d say a rule of thumb to follow is that you want happier fics with a brighter tone, and moodier/angsty fics with a darker tone so that it can reflect the nature of the fic further, without saying anything! 

if you wanna be extra af like me, then go a step further and photoshop your pics. this one is a good example; when i screenshotted this scene from another youtube video for my fic One Year My Love part 2, i was specifically looking for a scene that would showcase the ornate/regal details of their clothing/environment in contrast to part 1′s modest clothing/scene (the first header in this post). 

i found this scene, but actually, this scene portrays the Crown Prince and the Princess, not y/n. So, the actors weren’t smiling at all! They were actually frowning at eachother in this scene, to portray the tension between the two characters and their marriage. 

So, I took the extra step, adjusting the pic with VSCO so that their shoulders/chins were at the same level, cropped off their faces up until their lips, and then used the adobe photoshop free app to photoshop their lips to be SMILING at eachother!!!! subtle, but important! 

call me crazy for taking that much time but i’m so proud of how it turned out and i loved every second of making this one. that way, this scene makes it portray the happy ending for Jungkook and y/n! 

adding text to your header

you can use any app out there, but i really like Font Candy! I actually ended up buying the 2$ version of this and never regretted it, but you can actually find a lot of their basic fonts on the free version; I tend to use the fonts: OSTRICH SANS, BEBAS, TREND, and INTRO the most! these are pretty clean-looking, block letters that look good whenever i put them as my titles. 

I love this app too cause you can easily control the spacing between letters to make them take up more space, add shadows, or even make them contrast their background using the overlay feature; like this one i made for wildest dreams (see how the text changes depending on what part of the photo its on? amazing! it’s literally with a click of a button!!)

And i’ll always add “written by HAYJEON” or “by HAYEJON”, space it out, and add it somewhere underneath as my own branding.

if you want to be more creative, you can even go a step further and use whatever you have on hand to enhance whatever you’re trying to portray. 

for this one, i ended up finding this amazing photo on unsplash and i thought it would do a create job of portraying the “movie-set” quality of what wildest dreams is going to be about. this stock photo had someone else’s names on it, so i used my ipad, and used instagram to just erase the existing writing with the color of the background, and then wrote in my own title and url with my own handwriting/apple pen!!! 

i thought this was pretty cool because it’s like wildest dreams is its own movie/has its own movie set, which, once it’s out, you guys will see that it’s supposed to be! 

saving/uploading

this is pretty easy/obvious, but i figured i’d mention it. all the apps i mentioned are available on the appstore, and they will save directly to your photos. after doing that, i’ll just upload them into a special folder i have on my google drive so that when i’m finished writing a fic on tumblr using my laptop, i can easily download the photos without sacrificing quality. easy! 

and that way, i can save them forever; even if i have to delete them from my computer, i can always redownload them! 

side note: making text separators

i just recently started doing this, but ever since tumblr took down their text separators, i’ve just been cropping the bottom like 5-10 pixels of the header to use as my text separators! (with my laptop)

i saw some other writer doing it and thought that it looked better than what i had used previously (a cropped photo of a random line i found on google); i found that doing this tied my fics together a little better and just looked better aesthetically;

1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

I’ll say three and a half. Sometimes four. As a writer I don’t think I’m at my full potential yet and probably have quite a ways to go, but I don’t think I’m terrible at what I do.

2. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

I think maybe because of how much sensory emotion I put into it. I ramble (probably too much) but it’s just me going off on tangents with the descriptions.

3. Are there any writers that inspire you?

If we’re talking on tumblr then absolutely! I have to shout out @softanon who has the most beautiful prose for fluff I’ve ever seen. Dia knocks it out of the park every time. And     As well as just anyone on the server. You’re all such amazing talents in anything you guys do. If we’re talking literary wise then Emily Dickinson, Sandra Cisneros, and Joan Didion.

4. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

I’ve got two. Black Velvet with Din Djarin because of how much effort I put into that story and how much people fell in love with it when I really didn’t expect it. And Hurt with Joel Miller. That is my “sit at the typewriter and bleed” story. It’s got pieces of me throughout the whole thing. Not all of me, but most. I haven’t written the all of me story yet; it’s hiding in my drafts at the moment.

5. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write and which do you find most difficult to write?

Easiest would probably be any of the Moon Knight bois (Jake Lockley more than others), Tommy Miller, and Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia. They’re so easy to fall into when writing. Difficult would be Jake “Hangman” Seresin, Miguel O’Hara, and Santiago “Pope” Garcia. They’re just hard to pin down sometimes which is why I’ve been stalling on their fics the most.

6. Who or what do you find yourself writing about most?

Tommy Miller and the damn apocalypse. That man snuck up on me and now I can’t stop churning out fic after fic.

7. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about!

I have a folder of literally just WIPs, but one that keeps calling out to me is a series with Joel Miller set in regency times called Featherstone. It’s heavily based on Pride & Prejudice but also Jo and Laurie’s relationship in Little Women. I also have some fics for new characters in the works, but they’re nowhere near close to being written.

8. First fandom you ever wrote for?

Marvel! Specifically Bucky Barnes. And even though I don’t really write for him anymore I’ve still got a soft spot for the man. He’s the OG.

9. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?

I don’t even think I can call this guilty, but hurt comfort is my shit. It’s my main bitch, the one I’ll run to every time. Again with the angst, but man I never quite get the feeling of pure love from fluff fics the way I do with hurt comfort.

10. A trope you’ll never, ever write for.

The noncon trope in fics. It’s just not my cup of tea so I’m not going to attempt it. But I do want to attempt fics that might have a darker edge to them.

11. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?

I’m dragging up old shit I should probably delete after this, but on my Star Wars blog I wrote a crack fic. I’m talking completely insane to a point where I must have lost my mind. But basically it's the canon universe, but they somehow end up in a variety of musicals along the way. IT’S HORRIBLE.

12. Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!)

Romantic. I find it’s more fun to get to play with that dynamic because of how much fluff or angst I could add into it.

13. Do you listen to anything while you write?

Silence is sometimes the worst thing for me when writing fics. So I’ve got a multitude of playlists either made specifically for the story or just one I found that fits the vibes.

14. One-shots or multi-chaptered works?

Yes. Although I’m prone to multi-chaptered cause I’m a rambling bitch through and through.

15. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!

So many of my fics wind up with drabbles and blurbs of just side adventures. I’ve come up with some side stories for my 

16. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

Darker fics as I said before. I love the idea of digging into a character in a dark way. I have a fic that I’m attempting to do that with, but I think I keep psyching myself out when it comes time to write it.

17. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?

I’ve received so many nice comments from people who are probably the reason why I am still writing here. But I remember a mutual of mine who isn’t active here anymore, would go through my fics and list favorite lines and then recommend songs they felt went with it. And many of the songs I still have saved because of it.

18. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?

I participated in an October challenge hosted by my incredible moot @inklore and while I’m “finishing” the fics (I really am) I had never participated in a challenge before. And especially one that allowed me to sort of delve into dark fics a bit. It was nerve wracking to say the least.

19. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?

Merciless angst is my bread and butter. I honestly find it so cathartic to write and read compared to fluff. In my opinion fluff is so much harder for me to write and I struggle to like what comes from it.

20. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!

I have a massive list of OCs. Some for fics, some for novels. My Star Wars OC is a favorite due to the nature of how she became the way she is. But I’m always tender-hearted towards my novel OCs. Rosemary and D’Arcy are two that I’m hopelessly in love with and I haven’t even written most of their story. Which I’ll shamelessly promote my original works sideblog @/persephonesprose for them.

21. If you could enter the universe of any one of your fics, which would it be and why?

I wanted to say my Joel fic Hurt, but that’s the apocalypse so I’m going to avoid that. I am gonna say Black Velvet my Din Djarin bartender story. That’s a dream honestly.

22. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?

I am the human embodiment of Coraline’s dad on the computer. Even if I really love the scene I am writing. My writing process is chaos really. Usually it happens in the late night/early morning hours. I do always have to listen to music that fits the vibe of the fic or else I can’t write it.

23. Copy and paste an excerpt you’re particularly fond of.

A question like this makes me forget everything I’ve ever written, but this is from a recent Steven Grant fic:

“With Steven you felt like you existed on a different plane. Problems were nonexistent. Humanity became an afterthought, and the possibility of anything flourished like a flower at the start of spring. Bright and beautiful and full of endless potential.”

24. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

Writing fics on Tumblr changed my writing life permanently. It gave me permission to be fun and free and unhinged with some of the most outlandish ideas I’ve come up with. I’ve gotten to meet some of my favorite people because of it and it’s just so fucking fun. So if anyone wants to start writing fics, just go for it. It’s scary and you’re gonna be a nervous wreck for the first week, but you might just have the time of your life.

12 + 1 original work. A lot of my fics are Homestuck (the majority of them, in fact; I’ve been involved with that nightmare the longest), then there’s Tolkien stuff (ofc), Bleach, Good Omens, BNHA, and so on. Other than HS and Tolkien, most of the others only have 1-2 fics.

Oh, god. I don’t know. I’ve done a couple with major character death, for sure? Okay, more than a couple. There’s plenty. I did an AU of The Road (Homestuck again, sorry), that one hurts. It remains one of the best things I’ve ever written, though.

do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

Not often. The wildest one is a Star Wars/Song of Achilles FinnPoe crossover. I had a short and intense SW phase after TFA came out. TLJ cured me of it.

have you ever received hate on a fic?

No, I’ve been lucky not to.

do you write smut? if so what kind?

Yes. I prevaricate on it so it also parallels as a character study, or a vehicle for pounding out (ha) relationship dynamics, as it were. The emotional undertones, even in a PWP are far more interesting to me than the actual mechanics.

have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of, no. Someone else had the same idea for something as I did, but they published their fic first, but that doesn’t count. Especially since I’ve never once interacted with said person. I think the fic is on hiatus, actually? No clue.

have you ever had a fic translated?

I have not.

have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes! One of my Bleach fics (to come) will have been done with a co-author, and the top kudos’d fic of mine (https://archiveofourown.org/works/14614890) is technically a collab, as each chapter is written by someone else, and we all did it on a lil tumblr post ages ago.

what’s your all time favorite ship?

Don’t have a favorite, really? I do always come back to Silvergifting, though.

what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

MAN. Dare I say many of them? I have one for Elwing that I’m trying not to think too hard about. It won’t even be that long, but- bluh. Honestly, some of the fics I have on AO3 are WIPs that just won’t ever be done, especially the Hobbit ones. F in the chat. Hell, some of the shit I had on ff.net in 2013 (shoutout to TVD) is still lying unfinished on my computer somewhere.

what are your writing strengths?

I think my prose is halfway tolerable, and I’ve somehow become kind of good at writing historical fiction couched in like...Regency era/Victorian era language. Go figure. I am also quite good at descriptions, not necessarily of people.

what are your writing weaknesses?

Fight scenes/action scenes. I struggle a lot with them.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I don’t usually do it, but I have no issue with those who do. Especially for folks in the Tolkien fandom- forever amazed at that level of scholarship.

what was the first fandom you wrote for?

TECHNICALLY I wrote a Pirates of the Caribbean rip-off fanfic when I was like, eight. But after that? I think The Vampire Diaries. The CW show.

what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Hm. I really like the horror Maglor I did (inspired by the very same person who tagged me! Wrinkliest brain around). But I’m going to go with the Ambarussa piece I did for Feanorian week. https://archiveofourown.org/works/30170610 Something happened there, and it was a joy to write, even if it’s rough and unpolished.

If we’re going by fics of mine that I’ve *read* the most, it’d have to be this one https://archiveofourown.org/works/25120744 (Homestuck). I’m the only person who has written for this relationship, I think; I had to make the AO3 tag on my own. It’s terribly self-indulgent, but I like it. I don’t usually reread my fics, this is one of the exceptions.

1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

well if no downplaying’s allowed i guess i’d give it a 3/5? some mistakes since i’m not a native plus i”m still working on getting my english style better! i like what i come up with all the same, i’ve improved a lot these past two years, and my grammar isn’t that bad i guess?

2. Why do you write fanfiction?

to do what developers didn’t do in the first place to make good use of my imagination, to cope with the fact that some characters don’t exist and i will never follow another one of their adventures, to forget about a boring real life...

3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

my writing doesn’t stand out lmaooo but i guess i’m always trying to focus on the character’s psychology, struggles and all that, so if someone likes my work, it’s ‘original’ bc it’s usually quite different from the usual stories where there are a lot of dialogues and interactions.

4. Are there any writers that inspire you?

i’ve been inspired a lot by @welcometogressenheller​ (i wish i could do as well as she does.....), @aceklaviergavin​ (kudos to you even if you never see that post and you probably don’t know who i am), and some others whose name i forgot (sorry!)

5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

i didn’t write much but i guess that my latest fics are really nice (There’s No Light In You Anymore, and the whole Faith series on AO3). also my big project “Now That You’re Gone”, i’m glad i’ve been able to write that much for it and i intend on continuing as soon as i find the motivation!

6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?

pain, struggles and all that comes with it as long as it’s in the character’s mind, because beware here you step in a dark space

ordinary scenes of life? i always find my writing lacking as soon as i step out of my comfort zone, i’m all for rambling and never-ending pain

professor layton and the shattering secrets!!! i’m so happy of what this AU will look like when i’ll be done writing the following chapters, at first it probably looks annoying but heck i wanna promise anyone who’s reading it that the plot twists are gonna be worth it even though the overall background isn’t that original because i’ve mixed up different elements from other games (aaaand we’re back in our oh-so-amazing comfort zone that covers up a massive lack of imagination)

15. What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve ever written for?

i didn’t write for many fandoms but back in my younger days i used to do self-insert fics with the vampire diaries cast and it was so odd and i wish i hadn’t just confessed that on my tumblr blog

18. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?

PL and the shattering secrets! huge canon divergence and one heck of an AU (also its original version is much worse, my mind was going crazy when i was 15)

19. Do you prefer canon-compliant, AUs, or something in-between?

i love reading AUs, writing some requires solid imagination which i have not, but honestly i don’t really mind

desmond sycamore x his wife / randall ascot x hershel layton (be it romantic or platonic) / randall ascot x basically anyone from the MM i guess though i didn’t write anything about that yet (it’s about to change guys)

22. Do you listen to anything while you write?

yea i can’t write without listening to music - any playlist does the trick as long as i like what i’m listening to but usually i listen to sad soundtracks, or i’m inspired by some random lyrics

23. Do you prefer prompts and challenges, or completely independent ideas?

i’d go with challenges bc my horrible ass has very few ideas but i usually come up with independent ideas

25. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!

i don’t remember ;_;

26. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

i’ve got one OS in mind with randall/layton but i don’t want to be the talk of the town because it’s probably going to be awful? also any other fic including the PL3 crew

27. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?

@welcometogressenheller telling me she believed i was a native!!! i struggle so much trying to improve my writing style in english and i have a lot of insecurities so it was so heartwarming and incredible to read...

also basically any other comment where people tell me they like what i write. i love that writers feel the need to take some time reviewing my works bc i need constant validation

28. How well do you handle criticism when it comes to your writing?

well i’ve never really received ‘harsh’ criticism or anything, save for some very rare remarks on my grammar so i guess i don’t know? at first it’s always sad to see that what i’ve done isn’t perfect but i guess it’s impossible to be perfect so i’m really happy that people take some time to underline what looks wrong to them

29. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?

currently trying to with shattering secrets and it’s actually a great way to improve!

31. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!

i wish i could but it would perhaps be a huge spoiler so i don’t wanna say much about them...

i have 1) annabell sycamore, des’s wife, whose personality fits very much mine. she’s a playwright, spends lot of her time writing and acting in front of des AND WITH des. also she’s a very realistic person and some people usually tell her that she’s being too pessimistic 

2) aurelia from the shattering secrets and on her i really cannot say much... if anyone’s read this far it would be so nice if you could give SS a shot by the way!!

desmond sometimes finds happiness but it’s always taken from him

33. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?

i don’t translate my works from my original language to english, i write straight in english. i spend a lot of time making sure i haven’t done any grammatical mistakes, checking the definition and the use of some words i’m not sure about, and sometimes it’s quite a pain and it can be also very discouraging bc i end up believing what i write comes from a random internet dictionary while deep down i know it’s not true but hey what can i say. huge insecurities laid bare here.

Then they’d fought. Despair was filling the air, though Hershel didn’t understand what Descole meant when he cried that the Azran legacy was all he had to live for.

  129.125 (OMG really? O.O and that’s not counting everything unposted sitting in my folders and the things I only posted on tumblr)

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

Lately just Star Wars unless we count crossovers in which I could count Atlantis lost empire and The Beauty and the Beast I guess? I wrote some things in my youth in other fandoms but I’d rether not say...

 So, he’s there, an almost cold mug of tea in front of him, brooding in the unlit kitchen in the middle of the night. He scoffs a half laugh, feeling quite pathetic. The sighs coming from behind him doesn’t even surprise him.      “Nightmares again?”

Where Boba thought he was going to spend a nice month alone bounty hunting but Luke had other very different plans.

Honestly all these are first by kudos because they’re the first things I posted on ao3 and in the Space Dads serie. Thanks a lot to all those who follow this serie and take the time to leave kudos and comments! It always lighten my days to see it.

Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I try to always do it, yes. Not right away because that depends on my spoons but I respond. I honestly don’t get a lot of comments so it’s not very difficult.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

Uuuuh... Put on your war paint? I guess? But it’s part of the space dads serie so there are things happening after. is it still an ending? Idk. Angsty h/c ending though here, yeah...

Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?

I’m more of a univers fusion than a real crossover person. I’d say my project of au with atlantis is probably the wildest take I’ve ever thought of writing though!

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

My readers are honestly very quiet? I only had love and some questions so far and I’m glad of it.

Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Once in a blue when I’m in the mood, yeah. There are some explicit works on my ao3!

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Does translation of your own fic count? Boba and Luke’s grand adventure is actually a translation of the first draft I wrote in french.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Well space dads started that way? I started brainstorming on the au with @captaingondolin!

What's your all time favorite ship?

I am a very multiship type of person. That said, I am very very deep in the kesett pit. I don’t think I will ever come out.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

Some days Space Dads Extraordinaire appears that way. I mean... I’m 100k words into it and I haven’t started writing my take on A New Hope... Send help?

What are your writing strengths?

... I don’t know? I’m not a very confident person so making myself compliment is complicated. I guess I’m not that bad at writing emotional heart to heart?

What are your writing weaknesses?

Writing in a language not your own is hard sometimes. I don’t think I suck at english but I am def not a crack at syntax. I struggle a lot with writing action too. Fight scenes are my nemesis xD

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

When I can take the time to tinker with mando’a I love putting some in my fics. It’s fun and it had something to the cultural background of the character imo?

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

... Naruto. In my middle school years. Damn that’s far away now but I regret nothing!

What's your favorite fic you've written?

Mesh bal kari, my beauty and the beast fusion au with kesett and pining and omg the angst. I put a lot of thought and effort in this fic. I love writing it too and it’s been a turning point in feeling proud of what I write. I don’t do it for the kudos or anything, it’s a rarepair and a totally self indulgent au but I like the result.
