The reason why I adore ALL tddk but why I especially find Shouto x Quirkless!Izuku so compelling is that. they're just-

Izuku with the hard-won victories and the barely-hidden Ambition that thrums in his veins. And Shouto who know the price of ambition but also knows exactly what it means when Izuku discards it in favour of helping him. Izuku- who was never really saved, who still prays, hopes, wishes and never actually expects anyone to show up, who sends the text in Hosu like it's a silly little ritual he has to complete. And Shouto who ditches everything and everyone and comes running. You came//You called. Izuku who smiles politely and Shouto who calls the chief of police a Mangy Mutt. Izuku who was raised on Full Internet Access and Shouto who had just discovered Memes and is unreasonably delighted about it.

and. they're just. A boy who is bluntly, tragically honest and another who is made of white lies. A boy with the power of god at his fingertips and a boy with nothing but his raised fists. A masterpiece and a defect. A boy in chains and a boy with all the freedom that a very tall building provides.

oh and they're both awkward, blushing messes. they're idiots. they're bestfriends. they're late-night arguments over Conspiracy Theories. They are so intense and unintentionally hilarious. They're sun-and-moon coded. They're deep-seated abandonment issues and a difficulty in letting anything go. They're hands, hands, hands. They're two pieces of rubble whose jagged edges fit. They're bury my feet in cement cause I'm never leaving you. They're I'm sorry I didn't know you when we were kids. I would have iced the bruises on your back. They ARE SOULMATES-

sweet nothing by taylor swift is SO tododeku coded because. at the end of the day sweet nothing is a song taylor swift wrote about how in a world where everything is always threatening to end her career, and people are expecting the absolute world from her, her lover doesn’t expect anything more from her than she is able to give. i love the line “all that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothing”

and it’s so absolutely tddk coded because while borh of them have grown up having quite a lot expected of them, i’m gonna talk about shoto specifically. because he was born as the son of the #2 hero and raised to be the perfect machine to beat all might. there were so many expectations that he had grown up having to meet because he was expected to be strong, have amazing control with his quirk, beat everybody else in hero training, etc. even people outside his family recognized him as endeavor’s son and form their very own expectations of him. he couldn’t afford to lose, or be weak- because he was endeavor’s son, and endeavor’s son shouldn’t be showing any weakness.

we can see especially in the beginning of the series how much this affects him- it causes him to be closed off and only focus on his goals of being the strongest hero.

so basically he has to live with the weight of all of these expectations crushing him, and then he meets izuku, who shows genuine compassion towards him for the first time. he becomes close with him and finds out that izuku doesn’t place his own expectations on shoto the way everyone else does!!! izuku never wanted anything more than what shoto could and was willing to give him!!! literally all that izuku ever wanted or expected from shoto was sweet nothing ☹️

another line i think fits super well is “to you i can admit, that i’m just too soft for all of it”

because in the show it’s shown that izuku is one of the only people he can be truly vulnerable with!!! he’s one of the only people who knows all his secrets and his trauma and his demons and he STILL doesn’t expect anything more from shoto.

Can you explain the Natsuo and Shigaraki ship?

Why yes I can my good fellow!

The ship of Shigaraki and Natsuo aka Natshig was first realized by my dear friend @sevedraws​ during the course of the 2019 TodoDeku BigBang. 

And I, like the chaotic neutral I am, was totally on board.

Many others during the origin were on board as well, we all realised the true potential of this ship.

The appeal starts with Natsuo being basically this beautiful himbo medic that the league just stumbles upon somehow for some reason.

Shigaraki, who is initially hesitant and distrustful, is compelled by this loveable brick house of a man.

(Note: flo is code for Endeavor during this time of the Big Bang)

We basically all agreed simultaneously that TodoDeku and NatShig would be a hilarious dynamic. (Lot’s of us are also dabihawks shippers so the entire rigmarole is even bigger and better. And yours truly really likes FuyuTen (Fuyumi x Tensei) while some others really like UsagiFuyu (Miruko x Fuyumi), so basically we just like chaos djhffkdjfh.)

We spawned so many aus during the origin ALONE. You can’t imagine how many we’ve come up with since then.

Well, that’s a lot for the lore of this.But now we get into all the little reasons why NatShig is an awesome ship!

1. It’s nice to see Shigg be soft. Natsuo is just a plush ray of sunshine that Shigg basks in. He can’t believe someone so beautiful and kind would fall for him

2. One hell of a way for Natsuo to stick it to Endeavor. Fall for one of the biggest villains in all of Japan, who turns out to be really hot and Natsu is NOT complaining djhfdf

3. Depending on which meeting path you want to go with, it’s all gold and ripe with opportunity. 

-The ‘kidnapped a medic’ route brings you the league in need of a medic. So they kidnap one. They weren’t planning on that medic being a Todoroki. Dabi is sweating. Natsuo, half a braincell ass himbo, doesn’t even care that he’s been kidnapped by villains, he’s just like “Damn bitch, you live like this??” and starts tending to everyone, scolding them for not taking care of themselves. And over time he and Shigg just fall for each other.

- The ‘met each other as civs one day and hit it off’ has Natsuo and Shigaraki meet each other by chance one day. The setting doesn’t matter much, only that they hit it off really well. In this meeting, they are not Shigaraki Tomura, leader of the League of Villains, and Todoroki Natsuo, the most unloved son of Todoroki Enji, Endeavor, they’re just two strangers who find someone who gets the pressures of an unfair life. They have a really good time and Shigaraki is a bit sad that they must part ways, but Natsuo, being Natsuo, extends himself to the reclusive Shigaraki. “Why don’t we do this again?” Giving Shigg his number, the two end up meeting with each other as often as their schedules allow. They find out each other’s backgrounds at some point (the ‘how’ is up to the creator’) but in the end they still love each other.

-The childhood friends au. The Shimuras and the Todorokis have actually known each other since childhood. Cue wacky antics.

4. They’re basically reverse TodoDeku and it. is. hilarious. TDDK = Sunshine boi with the angsty Todoroki, NTSH = The Todoroki is the sunshine boi and Shigg is the angsty one

5. The anti-christ au is a great spin on this where Natsuo and Midoriya are logical and deal with facts but Shigaraki and Todoroki are balls to the walls conspiracy theorists.

6. Natsuo and Shiggy dating leads to hilarious exchanges like:

Spinner eyeing Natsuo with distrust: “So Shigaraki is dating a Todoroki? How can we trust the son of Endeavor”

Dabi: *sweats*

All right, All right, I’ve made this way longer than it needed to be, but do you see now? The glory of NatShig?? There’s so much to this ship! And I and the rest of the Natshigs are well surprised and happy with how many people agree with the dynamic of this little ship we cultivated!

i’ve been coding non-stop for around 3 hours and my brain is very fried so please take this: tddk very new into their relationship and not being sure when/where their boundaries are so they ask stuff like “can i hug you?” “can i kiss you right now?” “is holding your hand okay right now?” all the time and they both find it very endearing

THIS IS SUPER SWEET AND SUPER CUTE AND I WANT 100 FICS ABOUT THIS. Like gah, they want to know if things are okay for them to do with/to the other and that’s. That’s just so damn sweet. The affection and love that goes into these questions wow??? And I imagine they both want the affection and the love, too. Like I can see Izuku really wanting to hug Shouto, but he isn’t sure if Shouto is comfortable with that, so he asks him several times and every single time, Shouto answers so quickly “Yes” and Izuku gives him these soft yet very firm hugs or sometimes they’re bear hugs and Shouto feels like he’s in heaven because wow this boy with such strong arms can be so gentle and loving and he feels so lucky to have Izuku as a boyfriend ohmg. And I can also see Shouto yerning and longingly looking at Izuku and then a thought to kiss him hits him and he asks Izuku very shyly if he can kiss him and Izuku is like !!!!!!!!!!!! Yes please do. And like gah, chaste, soft, innocent kisses, maybe some pecks on the lips, ohmg that’s so tender. I am deceased, this message healed me and cured my depression, thank you so much, nony.

TDDK HC TIME!!!!

Tddk remind me so much of halo by Beyoncé?? Hear me out here. At the beginning of the song she goes “Remember those walls I built? Well, baby, they're tumbling down” except izuku quite literally and metaphorically smashed his way through the walls Shoto’s build throughout the years. The ice walls he’s spent years perfecting, and the walls meant to separate him from any distractions on the path of becoming number 1.

And further in the song she goes “It's like I've been awakened. Every rule I had you breakin' It's the risk that I'm takin'. I ain't never gonna shut you out” Which reminds me so much of their fight during the sports festival?? And how blinded shoto was due the anger and resentment he had towards his father. That Izuku destroyed his body just to prove to shoto that his left side was his and not endeavor’s. Which is why he gets “awakened”during their fight. And what a risk shoto’s taking for following Izuku after he’d broken every wall/rule set up by or for him. And by doing so shoto’s breaking another one of his father rules, by deciding to follow Midoriya’s words and forge his own path to become a hero. But he’d never be able to shut izuku out no matter what, especially after he smashed his way into shoto’s life.

Which brings me to my next part where she says “Hit me like a ray of sun, burning through my darkest night. You're the only one that I want, think I'm addicted to your light” Because it seems like Shoto’s always had dark nights every since he was born. The late nights spent training until he threw up, before he was forced back up again. The summer days where he never went to the park with his siblings. The winter days where he’d never get to build a snowman, because he had to dodge fire punches instead. The fact that a mere look at his face caused his mother to permanently scar him. Until Midoriya came along with that constant smile on his face, and an oddly similar quirk to all might who would just not give up. Who kept destroying his own body just to help Shoto. And so he will forever be grateful and addicted to the light that Izuku oh so generously shares.

One thing about tddk is that they’re so “you came.” And “you called.” Coded from that sound on TikTok. Shoto will literally drop EVERYTHING to make sure izuku’s safe. Like he’ll be in a city full of chaos because of nomu’s and izuku suddenly sends his location with no other message? He’s there. Izuku’s getting charged as a national criminal? He’s giving him tips on how to run away from the police. Izuku runs away from UA to protect everyone? He helps bring him back.

He’s always been there.
