following on from this. not to always bring marc into everything (sorry marc) but if assen 2015 had happened against jorge, valentino would have very likely pulled something similar again imo. rather than what he actually did, which is approach marc almost immediately for a nice normal friendly handshake and backing off during the podium celebrations. should be noted that during laguna seca '08, valentino was very much committed to yapping at casey on the podium with the world's biggest smuggest grin on his face
partly that disparity is because jorge not marc was the direct title rival, partly it's because valentino was treating marc with kid gloves right until the second that he wasn't, which marc was seemingly entirely oblivious to. if anyone other than marc had said what he said in that presser, had then continued on with similar rhetoric during sachsenring, valentino would quite likely have gone nuclear. he's done it over less than that. his fondness for marc made him continue to exhibit uncharacteristic restraint... except that fondness unfortunately is what left valentino feeling so very betrayed when (to his eyes) marc could not leave well enough alone

even with Teru's parents I get very frustrated at how much ppl bend over backwards to make them these flat caricatures of neglectfulness. they suck! everyone can agree that they suck! but just once I would like to read a fic where they suck in a way that feels like it belongs in Mob Psycho.

I was talking to Curtis about how certain aspects of Doctor Who would be treated if they were episodes of Torchwood and/or had that rating leniency of Torchwood (imo the limitations of Doctor Who make for better TV than Torchwood in general, but not always) and when I brought up Amy's Choice, Curtis said I should do an episode rewrite and.
Hm. Hmmm. That could be really interesting. Amy and Rory and the Doctor's dynamic would be so... different in a Torchwood rated show, given the things they do with them in Doctor Who, and if they actually used the Dream Lord as an interesting villain (and they'd actually be able to play into the Doctor's worst traits in an adult show! For better and for worse!)...
However I'd have to actually rewatch Amy's Choice, and also decide how much I want to stay faithful to the episode, how much I want to stay faithful to "what would/could Torchwood have done here, and how much I actually want the result to be. Good.
Because "what Torchwood would do" and "what would be interesting" are not necessarily the same things.
(Accidentally wrote a Novel in the tags also. Whoops.)

watched bubble (2022) and its animation and score still have me reeling. I went into this without knowing it was kind of a retelling of the little mermaid, so the reveal at the start was surprising, but it didn't compromise the impact at all! it just ended up being one of those beautiful stories where you know the ending but you read (or watch) them again anyway!!
i also really love how another anime movie reimagined a fairytale (like how belle (2021) changed the setting to the platform U, bubble changed the prince's kingdom to a post apocalyptic tokyo). these unique retellings are so enjoyable to me
most importantly!! it even got the core of the tragedy of the little mermaid so well—what joy is there to live on as a human, without the person, no, the reason you became one in the first place? all while making everything—their meeting, their love, the end—feel fated (because i met you, i became me)
i just really enjoyed this film
