let’s talk commission stuff!

hey folks !! so i’ve been reorganizing myself to get commissions back on track, and i’ve got some things i’d like to get your input on, if it isn't too much trouble !! ;v;

it’s a long one, so under the cut it goes sdfghghj

a slightly too long tl;dr because apparently this is a 10min read (i'm so sorry): commission revamp on the works! no date for it yet. gonna be easing myself back with just icons for a while at first (no date for that either thoug, not yet), then the revamp will be in full swing with all the other commission options, and the pricetable for them will be changed in the future as well.

some questions:

1) i’m rethinking commission types, is there anything you’d like to see as a new option? 2) considering i tend to open only a handful slots every batch, i'm thinking about implementing a waitlist (with a bit of a twist: it's split between Current Batch and Next Batch; a little more complicated than a regular ol' waitlist, allows me to get through some of the waitlist queue as work gets done). would that interest you or is it too much of a headache? 100% open to suggestions! 3) i’m organizing a board on trello for commission stuffs !! any suggestions or specific things you’d like to see there?

so! it’s already been over a year since i last opened commissions and i’d very much like to get back to them ;o; it’s been way too long! i miss working with you folks aaa

i don’t have a reopening date yet, but i’m planning on opening only icons for a while to ease back into the process. later on, i'll open the other commission options too. you see, i’m working on a full revamp of the whole thing, including the terms of service and that info image with the examples (because looking back, i think it no longer really represents my current style and how i really do commissions in terms of just... plain old rendering and polishing), so i’ll be working on new drawings and a new layout too, and all that good jazz :D

for full disclosure, along with this overhaul of the terms and such, i will be updating prices too c: i’m still working on the new values though, since i need to figure out what commission types/options the overhaul will have. which brings me to the first question here: what would you like to see as a commission option? for reference, here’s the og options:

also, one more thing i’d like to note about this revamp situation: there isn’t a whole lot that’s changing really haha it’s just been a long, long time since i last did commissions, so i’m reviewing terms and i might change stuff that’s become outdated, or that needs clarification. if you’ve commissioned me before, the process itself is still the same so no worries! once the revamp is out, i’ll point out anything that has changed too c:

in regards to price changes, those first icon-only batches will be in their original price, and the new prices will only take effect once the revamp with the other options is out. it will be quite a while before until that, but if you have any concerns, feel free to message me any time ! either way, i’ll keep you folks posted !! i guess i also could post the new prices before implementing them, if that helps!

so, moving on! now to the waitlist situation <:3c as in, i’ve never had one, a while back someone asked if i did, and now that i’m reorganizing things, i’m wondering if it would be good to implement one :3c feel free to send any questions !! or suggestions!! i'm all ears!!!

usually i only open a handful of slots for each batch, right, and once they're all claimed, the commissions are closed until all the slots are finished. folks who missed the slots have to wait until the next batch, and sometimes those batches take a while to come back, and i usually just message those who missed the opening once the new batch is announced.

what i'm thinking for the waitlist is, i'll open it along with the batch of commissions, and limit it to a specific number of spots or close it by a specific date, whichever comes first. to apply for it, people would just need to send the form and i can tell them immediately whether or not i can draw their request, and then they'll be placed on the waitlist in the order they’ve been accepted c: pretty standard stuff.

here’s the important bit: that list is basically split in two. the first handful of people on the list, corresponding to the amount of slots for the current batch, will be reached out to as i finish working on the claimed slots, and then anyone else on the waitlist will be contacted shortly before the next batch. if, by the time the list closes, not all the opened slots have been claimed, folks on the list will simply be moved up the queue accordingly c: all of it would be discussed individually, of course, and very well disclosed in the commission info!

there are other points to it as well: anyone would be able to request a spot on the next batch's waitlist instead of the current one, and anyone can leave either list at any point. folks who had already claimed a slot when it first opened would only be able to apply for the next batch's waitlist (to give everyone a chance of getting one), and people on the list, either for the current or the next round of commissions, can be skipped up to a limit if they're unable to continue the order once i get to them.

oh and, before i forget, with the waitlist in place, i think i’d no longer be able to put slots on hold as i used to (as in, before paying the first invoice), as it’d be unfair to folks on the list. in that case, the person would be placed on the list as well if they want to, and contacted as soon as possible : )

also the "up to 2 slots per person" thing would be on thin ice too haha

anyway, this is kind of what i intended to do back then, with reopening slots as work gets finished, but never got around to. i want to make sure i don’t swamp myself with work, but also have it so that folks who want slots have a good chance of getting them, whether for the current batch or the next, as there's only so many slots i can open and work on at once, and time zones and irl things are to be considered too for anyone interested c:

it also makes it easier for me to keep track of messaging folks about new slots and such, and the list would be made public and easily available for consulting too : D more on this later!

so how's this looking? i've never done waitlists before and barely knew how they're supposed to work before starting to reorganize things, so please do feel free to voice your thoughts !! i’m 100% open to suggestions !!! do you think this system would work out for you? any concerns? if anything is unclear feel free to point it out, i'll do my best to explain the process or change stuff that doesn't quite work!!

so!!! now to the very last thing i wanted to talk about ! trello!

i’m making a little trello board for updates on commission stuff! my commission info page here on tumblr and on deviantart both have this little section for updates on each slot’s progress, but i admittedly didn't do a good job keeping them updated (and constantly updating two things in different places just. kinda sucks.), so i’ve been diving into trello to unify that update section in one place and keep things nice and organized and transparent : ) it would be super useful for keeping track of the waitlist too, if that becomes a thing, or for updates on commission status and such!

so far i’m only testing things out, so it’s looking like this right now (sorry for the tiny image!):

with all those little lists, the “available slots” and “sketch” and “lineart” and whatnot, i would be moving the card along the process : D and adding the appropriate labels, of course

this way i can have those halfsteps labelled too (working on/halfway through/finishing), since there’s only so many colors i can use without making it confusing (and tbh i’m already not too thrilled about color labels as it is, but it beats typing each individual status, and i’d imagine it’s more readable for folks consulting the list as well)

i really like how this looks so far in terms of organization but i’m unsure if the horizontal scrolling is anything but annoying, specially to folks on mobile (with the way i divide my screen on desktop, it certainly isn’t ideal either), so if you have any experience with that, feel free to let me know your thoughts!! there are a thousand different ways to organize this, and this is all a work in progress too c:

-.' Advice from a Cambridge student '.-

Hi guys. I don't have many notes to post on here since I've been mainly doing past paper questions. So instead I'm going to share some info about my study technique. This is part 1 of I don't know how many since I've not fully decided on the list of content to cover. Comment some suggestions.

Today I'll talk about how I approach, store and track my past paper questions and how that has changed from GCSE to A level to STEP/MAT to studying maths at Cambridge. This I going to be long, so do skip to the relevant bits.

In the photos is a section of older questions from my spreadsheet. I can't really show any more than that because I don't what to spoil it for people saving newer papers for mocks.

WARNING

these are things I phased in an adapted to me routine over many many years. Not all of it will be relavent for your subject/level of study. If you do decide to make something like this into a study habit, be sure to start simple and build it up. Then it will be much easier to maintain and be much better adapted to you.

WHY SHOULD I DO PAST PAPERS?

✏️ active recall is much better at helping you memorise

✏️ being able to pick out the relevant information from your brain when you read a question is an important skill you can't learn by reading notes

✏️ revise with different topics mixed together

✏️ practise the actual task you are getting your grade from

✏️ figure out what is actually examined and what was taught just to help tell the story

HOW DO I PICK PAPERS?

🔎 First find a reliable website (bookmark it) to view or download your past papers

🔎 Leave any specimen + at least 2 years worth of papers to be completed under strict exam conditions closer to the exam.

🔎 Pick a year to start from and work towards more recent papers (you can go back to do older ones if you run out)

🔎 Keep in mind the year that the exam specification might have been last updated (I'll do a post about exam specs in future) when deciding which years' papers to prioritise.

HOW DO I DO THE PAPERS?

📝 Varies according to the subject, exam style and my overall confidence but, in general, I will start off with an "open book". This really puts the pressure off and makes starting papers earlier in the year much less daunting. Just starting is so important.

📝 Always have a go first and think about the reason you're getting stuck.

WHAT MATERIALS DO I USE AND HOW DO I STORE MY PAPERS?

UNIVERSITY:

📒 Even though I have a tablet, I much prefer to do exam practise on paper.

📒 Since starting university, I use A4+ lined wire-bound notebooks that are perforated and punched.

📒 I don't use loose leaf paper because I am terrified of losing sheets and do not need to frequently reorder or split them as I do with notes as I rewrite them.

📒 Once I have a few years worth of papers done (takes quite a bit of time in the beginning), I will tear them out of the notebooks and file them by year and subject. Y2/3 for Maths at my university mixes the courses throughout 4 papers.

📒 Start each Q on a new page, in the top space write "year.paper.section.question COURSE - topic". I sometimes also write a short comment here or indicate if I would like to redo the question in future.

📒 Log progress in a spreadsheet (more info below)

STEP (Cambridge Maths Entrance Exam):

📒 Printed papers into A5 booklets (I didn't have a good laptop at the time so this was the best way to have questions with me at all times

📒 I did the questions on a refill pad, filing every evening

📒 Started new questions on a new page since I rarely ever completed a paper cover to cover in order (you actually only attempt 6/12 or 13 in the exam)

📒 Log progress in a spreadsheet (more info below)

MAT (Oxford/Imperial Maths Entrance Exam):

📒 Printed the relevant questions double-sided on A4 since there is space to answer

📒 Listed specific areas/questions of topics I got wrong on a post-it I stuck to the front

A level:

📒 Printed as A5 booklets and answered in the space provided since my handwriting is small enough

📒 Listed specific areas/questions of topics I got wrong on a post-it I stuck to the front

📒 Stored papers either spine up in an A5 expanding file or opened them up to A4, punched and filed them in a 2 ring binder.

📒 Log progress in a table for each exam. I made the template in excel and printed them to use as cover sheets in my folder.

GCSE:

📒 These papers were not very efficient to print (gaps, blank pages, pictures) so I just read the questions from a desktop and answered them in a notebook

📒 Marking and comments in a different colour

HOW DO I USE EXCEL TO TRACK PAST PAPERS?

📊 Currently I use separate rows for questions because my courses are mixed into 4 exams which questions of only 2 types of length (short in section I, long in II).

📊 Columns for year, paper (1-4), section, question number/code, course, content, type, confidence, comments.

📊 "content" is just a list of topics, keywords, theorems. They're like tags I use to categorise.

📊 "type" such as bookwork (content covered almost word for word in lecture), proof, calculation, counterexample gives me an indication of the type of recall there assessing.

📊 "confidence" is a score/10 I use to decide whether or not to review the question in future or ask a supervisor for help and prioritise the next topics to try questions for. This is the only real way I can track progress since there are no mark schemes.

📊 "comments" are very important. I try my best to give reasons for not being able to complete a question (e.g clarification needed on q's wording, can't find a counterexample, not sure about conditions of theorem ...) and then later update it with the information that resolved the issue. Even when I'm confident, I try to summarise any new trick or technique used in the question

📊 Last year when questions were not mixed up (only 2 fixed courses per exam) and for STEP I chose to use 1 cell per question (year/paper on the left, question number across the top. In each cell listing the content and manually colour coding. Still very satisfying to see fill up.

WHY DO I USE DIGITAL SPREADSHEETS?

💻 Secure autosave

💻 Filter/sort by year/course/confidence makes it much easier to see which course needs more work

💻 Find. Search through my content tags to find a relevant question

💻 Conditional colour formatting to draw my attention to questions I struggled with as well as being very satisfying when I can change something from red to green. Motivates me to do questions

I woke up earlier than Rachel and got ready, heading out to set early. I grabbed a coffee on my way and walked into the make-up trailer, finding a note on my station on a bright red Post-It.

Thank you for going to dinner with me last night. Join me for dinner tonight? I’m paying and that’s that ;) -David

I felt my heart flutter as I read the note, smiling as I slipped it into my pocket quickly as Justin walked in.

“Hello, beautiful! How is my wonderful make-up artist today?” He asked and hugged me with a smile.

“I’m alright.” I chuckled nervously and hugged him before he sat down.

“Just alright. Talk to me, beautiful.” He cooed and grabbed my hand.

“What I’m about to tell you. You can’t talk about it to anyone. Especially David and Robert. Promise?” I whispered with my pinky extended, my face serious.

“Promise.” He replied, his face just as serious as he curled his pinky around mine. He sat straight up as I worked on his make-up.

“Here’s the deal. Yesterday after I finished his make-up, David asked me to go to dinner. I accepted, of course. I’m not insane. Then not ten minutes later, after I finished his tattoos, Robert asks me to dinner too.” I started, the words spilling out as I blended out his foundation and concealer. “I had to explain that I couldn’t go to dinner with him, so we agreed to go to lunch today.” I finished and sighed.

“So you have feelings for both of them, but you’re caught between them?” He said, looking up at me.

“I had dinner with David last night and he was so sweet. Damn near everything I look for in a man. But there’s something about Robert. He has those eyes that draw you in and mesmerize the fuck out of you. But David’s eyes read my soul. I don’t know what to do, Justin.” I huffed and set his make-up. “I didn’t come here to fall for anyone. I just wanted a job.” I added.

“I know. All you can do is follow you heart. Get to know them both and see who lights your soul on fire.” Justin said with a sweet smile before standing up and giving me a quick peck on the cheek.

“Thank you so much.” I murmured and watched him walk out. Just as he left, Robert walked in and his beautiful smile lit up the entire room.

“Hey, Robert.” I put on my best smile as he took off his jacket and sat down.

“Hello, love. I’m looking forward to lunch later.” He cooed as started working on his face.

“Me too. I’m already hungry just thinking about it.” I chuckled as I worked on his eyes.

“How was dinner with David?” He asked, sounding genuinely curious.

“It was nice, He’s so sweet.” I responded as I looked down at the tattoo art for Klaus, grabbing my Sharpies and holding one between my teeth.

“Do me a favor, Robert. Take your shirt off for me.” I muttered and patted his shoulder before propping up the art so I could follow it.

“Not even a drink first?” He chuckled, standing up and taking off his shirt. “Should I stand or sit for this?” He asked and looked at me in the mirror.

“Sit, please. You’re a little too tall for me to be able to do it properly with you standing.” I told him, my eyes focused on the art.

He sat down and I started working on the tiger tattoo on his right shoulder. I switched between an ultra-fine point and a fine point marker to make sure the lines were perfect. I set his tattoo and fanned it dry before grabbing a mirror and showing him in the big mirror.

“Holy shit. You are amazing.” He gawked and laughed.

“All part of my job.” I said and set the mirror down, handing him his shirt. I put some of the markers I had taken out back as he put his shirt back on, still holding the other.

“The ones on my hands held up pretty well.” Robert told me with a smile.

“I do need to see your wrist though.” I told him, flipping his hand over gently. I started the umbrella tattoo on his wrist, humming along to the music playing in the trailer.

“You’re awfully quiet.” Robert whispered as I finished and smiled at my work.

“Sorry, Robert.” I stammered.

“Don’t be, love. I figured it’s because you don’t have much to say.” He said with a sweet smile.

“I’m really not much of a talker unless you talk to me first. The struggles of being awkward.” I told him.

“I’m just weird.” He laughed and bit his lip.

“You? Weird? I would never have guessed it.” I joked and winked.

“Ow. You hurt me with your sarcasm.” He grabbed his chest playfully and looked up at me with a feigned look of offense.

“I’ll see you later?” I asked and patted his arm to let him know I was done.

“I’ll see you in a few hours.” He whispered and smirked with a wink. I watched him walk out, passing David on his way out. I watched David come in, a smile on his face as he laid eyes on me.

“Hey, David.” I greeted him, my eyes managing to stay on him instead of looking down like I would have yesterday.

“Hey, yourself.” He beamed that bright, sunshine filled smile at me as he sat down.

“How are you?” I asked and looked him over, determining whether or not I needed to redo his scar make-up.

“Better now that I’m with you.” He chuckled and winked.

“Mr. Castañeda, are you flirting with me?” I asked in shock as I started his make-up.

“What if I say ‘yes’?” He mused. “Kinda hard not to when you go and pronounce my last name right.” He added with a smirk.

“I’d tell you that you need to act professional.” I chuckled and winked back.

“Tease.” He laughed and bit his lip as he looked me over.

“Well, I’m all done with you for now. See you tonight at the diner?” I asked as he stood up.

“I’d like that a lot.” David smiled before walking away, giving me another wink.

I laughed as Rachel ran over after Ellen walked out, squealing as she watched David walked away. I talked to her more about dinner with David last night. I smirked as she reacted to him flirting with me.

“I’m telling you, he’s super into you. Yeah, Robert’s attractive, but David is definitely your type. Rachel told me, that mischievous glimmer in her eye.

“I know that look, Rach. Stay out of it unless I say otherwise.” I pointed at her, my voice commanding.

“Alright, alright. But just think about what I said.” She chuckled and walked away, talking to one of the other make-up artists.

Time passed and I kept up with work, smiling as I kept up with Justin’s make-up, trying to keep the shine on his forehead down. I kept sneaking glances at David, biting my lip as his pants moved with his legs.

Robert came over when he finished filming a scene, smiling and laughing with Rachel as I fixed David’s scar. I finished that and went over to touch up Ashley’s make-up for Rachel as she flirted with Robert. I rolled my eyes before walking over and tapping his shoulder.

“You ready to go?” I asked. He nodded and walked off, slipping into his big coat. He smiled and came back, grabbing my wrist and dragging me away from set.

“Jesus, it’s cold.” I muttered as I wrapped my jacket tighter around myself.

“You’re right. I don’t even think Ireland gets this cold.” Robert chuckled as he grabbed my hand and rubbed my hand to warm it up.

“I don’t even know how you stay warm in cold weather. You’re so slender and lanky.” I said as I looked up at him.

“Big coats and layers. I don’t have to worry about it a lot though since I live in L.A.” He replied, his eyes bright as he smiled at me.

“I bet while the rest of us are freezing our asses off in the winter, you guys in L.A. are cozy as hell.” I commented with a laugh as he led me over to a food truck.

“Well, you’re not wrong.” He smirked as we stepped in line. “Maybe after we finish filming, you can come visit me.” He added with a wink. He stepped up and ordered for himself before I ordered and paid for my food.

“So, I have to tell you something. I loved Jet Trash. I thought it was brilliant. You were fantastic.” I said as we sat down. “But can you please explain why in the hell it took place at Christmas?” I asked with a laugh.

“First of all, that is so sweet of you to say, love.” He genuinely smiled and patted my arm gently. “But to answer honestly, I have absolutely no fucking clue.” He laughed with me as we ate and talked.

“Do you have any siblings?” I asked, remembering everything David had asked me or I had asked him last night.

“Two older brothers. Brendan and Shaun.” He replied. “What about you?”

“An older brother and two younger sisters. Alex, Vanessa, and Katie.” I said after taking a bite.

We kept talking as we started heading back to set, finishing our lunch on the way. Robert told me about growing up in Ireland and acting, his accent slipping through as he said certain words. I told him about my career and how I got started. I noticed he didn’t take as much interest as David had the day before, silently making a mental note. We got back to set and Rachel pulled me aside to gossip about my lunch.

“He’s nice enough. His eyes still catch me off guard.” I told her with a small giggle.

“Buuuut?” She drew the word out to urge me on.

“There’s no ‘but’. He’s just being nice. Neither of them looks at me like that.” I huffed and took my jacket off. Right as I hung it up, David came in to the trailer and pulled me aside.

“Follow me.” He whispered and grabbed my hand, leading me out the door.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked as he led me behind one of the props trailers.

“There’s something I want you to do for me. I was going to wait, but I can’t anymore. Close your eyes for me?” He whispered, brushing stray locks of hair out of my face.

“Okay.” I said hesitantly as I closed my eyes. I felt his hand cup my cheek and my entire body filled with a fire I hadn’t felt in a long time. I could feel my breathing grow shallow as his breath mingled with mine.

“Relax.” David crooned, his voice smooth and sultry. I took a deep breath to calm myself. Just as I went to exhale, the softest lips I’d ever felt pressed to mine.

1. how did you get into graphics / gif making?

i wanted to color my icons for my roleplay blogs (since i was editing usopp’s anyway to change his lips & and darken his skin) and then i just sorta changed the scale i worked on? um i think i wanted to color a promo for myself for it too but i think i ended up just getting distracted / otherwise not finishing it smdgfdsfj and then i kinda figured. wow i wanna work on coloring, but i don’t like my art, so then started coloring stuff. recently i’ve been doing it more often b/c i’ve been inspired by other graphic makers, namely you, @ii-luffy-i, @lesbianjinbe & a couple of people in the bnha fandom (that i’m embarrassed to tag ;;)

edit: here’s an example of the icons that i started with (with luffy & usopp as the characters, respectively): as u can see they were Super small, & thus only took like. 5 minutes each once i got good at them, so transitioning into larger projects was….. hard. also im just rmmring some rly funny threads i had with usopp & kaku (me as usopp, my friend as kaku) mfdlskfjkdkg… aka usopp being worried abt his doppleganger // i had two of urls linked here like 5 min ago but honestly im embarrassed of my writing so im deleting it DSGKJD

4. what do you enjoy about making graphics?

they’re pretty!!!! also, a large part of the fun is finding panels to do specifically, & doing so really makes me appreciate the little details in the backgrounds / how the paneling works / just general visual breakdowns that most likely i otherwise wouldn’t’ve consciously noticed.

5. what do you dislike most about making graphics?

mmm when i spend a lot of time on something (like.. more than an hour) & don’t end up liking it? it just feels disappointing. i post it anyway b/c this blog is mostly for keeping track of my own art progress in a more organized fashion but still,,, also that like a month ago i’d been creating them more for the response (the likes/reblogs) than my own enjoyment, & so when they didn’t get noticed i felt really down & didn’t appreciate the process? so i’m trying to do it more for myself ig… i hope that makes sense ;;

8. what is your go-to adjustment / psd for colouring?

i don’t really have one? i mean i guess ….. a warm overlay but that’s as specific as it gets! b/c it doesn’t matter what i start with, i’ll just try it out, then adjust it from there to what i really want. so i’m never consistent with it jdsfjfd

36. graphic makers, how do you get started on a graphic? (how do you get an idea!)

for my art, i have a list of prompts / ideas that i’ve thought of at some point on the app Trello, that actually i can make public if anyone’s interested, so if i’m bored or inspired i’ll check that out!! but that is a new addition (i.e. this week), so before i just made those posts on my sideblog @rldenki (it’s private tho) & sometimes reblogged things from incorrect-quotes blogs there to draw & link back to later.)

mmm other than that i’ve gone to @rickypozzi (& since yesterday .. or maybe the day before?, @sanjispanels now that i have permission to edit them) or random chapters online to look for panels i might be interested in doing!! i have a folder of to-do’s, on my phone and on my tablet. oh & ofc my prompts tag

as for my ocs, i’ll often just start drawing a face, kinda out of it, & then just see where it takes me! i usually don’t have an idea for the end-product in mind, so when i do it can be kinda scary(?)

anyway those kinda things. i might make another post with some screenshots of my blog / inspo list / folders so y’all can see how it works (it helps a lot!!) but i don’t wanna make this too long gsdjfjdk

i don’t really have wips? usually, anyway. in the sense that either i finish them or i abandon them in the middle, but either way they get posted so there’s not really.. anything to put here? i’ve only gone back to a graphic more than like. an hour later twice, usually because my learning is evolving so quickly (that sounds kinda arrogannt but i mean that i’m constantly learning) that by the time i look back on it either i don’t wanna mess the good parts i did up, or if i changed something i would want to redo the entire thing.

um but i actually do have one as a special case!!! i’m trying to learn the patience to go back to old art/graphics, which is why i haven’t just posted it yet! that & i’m kinda embarrassed of it…..,,, i was trying to do some lighting thing with her helmet off of this tutorial, but ended up hating the product sdkgjkszdgj

LIFE IS STRANGE 2 EPISODE 3

okay, so throughout the recent life is strange games i have made posts such as this one; I would make a bullet-point list of my ideas and thoughts of the game, certain little lines or details and shit. i did this for the farewell episode, i think before the storm (at least one of the episodes), and captain spirit. i tried to do this for life is strange 2, but Tumblr fucking killed itself when i tried, like i even restarted the fucking episode to redo it. so i don't think ive done these for life is strange 2, but honestly they're a lot of fun to rant out my opinions of the game and the little details and shit so, without further ado, here's this -spoiler full- little list.

“WOULD YOU SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY, MALFOY?!” Harry shouted over his shoulder with a glare, his quill coming to yet another stop on his half-written on parchment due to the rambling from the other side of the shared room. Despite working on it for hours, his parchment only had a few lines written on it, and that was nowhere close to the two rolls assigned, and required to turn in for class.

( And the best thing about it? His essay was due tomorrow! )

Harry sighed and looked back down at his page bitterly. Just great. Not only was he roomed in with Malfoy, he was going to be behind on his work for his redo year.

Behind him, he heard Malfoy shift atop his bed, but the voice did not stop, and Harry shook his head in irritation. He dropped his quill down, and ink skidded across his page; smudging up his last written sentence. Shit. He scrambled to salvage as much of it as he could, pushing his other supplies away from it and managed to, for the most part, to his relief.

Malfoy��s snicker drew him back to the present.

Harry wandlessly ‘scourifyed! ‘ the remaining ink on his hand on his hand. He turned around in his chair, ready to give Malfoy a good and heavily worded piece of his mind when-

Malfoy’s voice stopped.

Harry frowned. That was all it took?

Throwing a glance back, Harry now saw how Malfoy remained still in his spot; un-moving. Originally, Harry had thought he’d been staring up at the ceiling, but a closer examination revealed that Malfoy now laid with his eyes closed, his face looking somewhat content in the mid-day light. And seemingly realizing that Harry had been watching him, Malfoy’s eyes opened and met his. The two stared at one another from across the room, neither exchanging a word. It went on for a while, long enough to begin to giving Harry the benefit of the doubt. But, Malfoy, being who he was, timed it just as Harry was turning back around, before he laid back down, and continued his recitation of the page he’d just read, even louder than before.

Harry sighed and rolled his eyes, running a tired hand over his face. He removed his glasses, and held his head in his hand, He was sick and tired of this.

He had to get Malfoy to stop, he just had to. By any means necessary.

He paused.

Well, not murder.

Harry hand nearly knocked down his chair as he stood back abruptly from it, the idea striking him suddenly. This caught Malfoy’s attention, for he jumped off his bed; staring at him with widened eyes as he watched Harry head closer to his side of the room.

“On Merlin’s beard, Malfoy...” Harry’s voice was low and threatening, “Malfoy, if you don’t stop, I’ll-”

Sensing Harry’s hesitation to continue his sentence, Draco smirked and slowly waltzed up to him, gently biting on his lip as he stared up at him, “You’ll do what, exactly?” He questioned, cocking his head to the side as he folded his arms across his chest.

“I’ll beat you into a bloody pulp,” Harry snarled in reply.

Draco scoffed, flinching on slightly, “Oh please. That would go against your code.”

Harry glared down at him in response, his hands now clenched into heavy fists; bringing back a familiar twitch of his right eye that started when they’d first been assigned as roommates at the start of the year. The room is boring when it gets quiet, Malfoy’s voice from earlier echoed, It needs noise. And I don’t mean that annoying pen tap you’ve got going over there, either.

At the start, Harry, like everyone else, had thought Malfoy would’ve been less of a prat when he returned back for the eighth year. He was.. but the more it became clear that Harry wasn’t out to kill him, he seemingly intensified and got worse with each day.

But it was moments like this that Harry had wished he’d followed through with Malfoy’s previous assumptions.

( And apparently, he’d taken too long to respond, for Malfoy had let out a laugh; brushing past Harry’s arm as he moved around him. It sounded like he’d headed for the spare wooden desk they had by the window, for there was a clank on the stone floor. He walked past Harry again, this time, his arms full of books. He dropped a few on his bed, then leaned over and set the rest on the ground beside him. )

“Oh, shut up. And stay on your side of the room, you’re a nightmare as it already is.”

“And if I don’t?” This time, it was Malfoy who crossed the room; taking a seat on Harry’s crimson bed.

“Shut up, just shut the fuck up before I make you.”

“Go on, Potter.” Malfoy taunted, and sat back on his bed, smirking up at Harry as one leg crossed over the other, “Make me.”

Harry didn’t dare utter a word, and instead, turned and faced back at his desk; all the while forcing himself to calm down. If he wanted this to work, he couldn’t lose his temper. ( Well, anger wasn’t the exact case in the moment; it was actually a bit arousing too catch Malfoy like this. Though, he still couldn’t let his emotions conflict and clash. ) Sure, he could shut Malfoy up with a simple grab at his throat, he was aware of this ability but knew his temper was one fierce enough to not just stop at hurting one person.

He inhaled, taking a breath for both himself and all the damage he just prevented himself from doing. This is gonna work, He told himself.

He was one more - just one more away - from freeing himself of anger, when he heard footsteps clicking up behind him, slow and precise.

Malfoy had something in mind, Harry knew, and whatever it was, it wasn’t good. Having being caught in the middle of his thoughts, he found himself drawing in a sharp breath as he felt Malfoy lean up his shoulder; with the front of his body pressed up against his own back as either hand sat upon a shoulder. “I knew it. “ The whispered words hit the side of his neck, and Harry’s jaws clenched. “You’re too much of a coward to do anything, aren’t you?”

Harry let out a snort, rolling his eyes. “That’s rich coming from you.”

Malfoy ignored the comment and propped his head up on Harry’s left shoulder. Harry could see the grey eyes watching him out from the side of his own, almost enjoying to watch as his anger geared back up. Malfoy then looped either hand under Harry’s arm, now placing them onto the front of his shoulders. He pressed himself against Harry impossibly further, nearly outlining Harry’s body with his, “Oh well,” He said, then withdrew himself, casually adding, “I guess there’s always a next time.”

Before there was time to register the attack, Harry spun around and yanked Malfoy forward by the front of his short, his collar, more specifically. The soft and pristine fabric bunched up tightly by Harry’s hardened hands in his hand as he got a firm grip on it, hen slammed him into the nearest wall; causing a few of the quills and light books to fall off the table Malfoy’s foot had knocked into in the process. Other than a bit back groan, Malfoy made no other sound as his head collided with it. Harry panted heavily, now looking down at Malfoy’s slightly crumpled figure splayed against the wall.

Malfoy shifted slightly. Feeling hot bursts of air from in front of him, he looked up and his eyes widened slightly. He’d done it now. Bracing himself, he prepared for the punch surely aimed at his face.

Though, what he didn’t expect was for Harry crouch down on the ground before him.

Malfoy raised a brow, and watched him go down.

Surely he wouldn’t try to-

Harry held Malfoy’s eye the entire time; from the moment grabbed ahold of Malfoy’s thighs, to when he slowly rose himself up, his face staying a constant five centimeters away from Malfoy’s body - lifting him up against the wall. The act causing Malfoy’s toes to curl up in his shoes, a hand to plant on the wall, and for his other hand to go straight to the back of Harry’s head; fingers grasping his hair, and locking onto them.

Hary found a place in-between Malfoy’s legs and planted himself there.

Harry’s breath was twinged with a sweet lemon, Malfoy noticed, and he felt himself go weak as Harry leaned into. Malfoy could practically hear his heart thumping in his chest, and his breathing becoming hitched. His eyes fluttered shut as he leaned in to meet Harry the rest of the way.

But the kiss never came.

Upon opening his eyes, Malfoy was met with a smirking Harry; one who’d tipped his head to the side as he watched him with interest.

“Looks like I finally got you quiet.”

His tone wore a victorious underlayer, and Malfoy could practically hear the grin within it. Harry dropped his legs back down to the ground. “Oh, and forget about what I said about doing my essay, earlier. I’m gonna take a shower instead. You know, take off some heat.”

Harry stepped back and grabbed one of his unused towels sitting overhead on the shelf above them. “Feel free to join me whenever.” His eyes flickered down to Malfoy’s trouser, “You look like you have an issue that needs resolving, plus you’re right, the room does get a bit boring when it’s quiet.”

There was a mysterious gleam in his eye as he spoke, but before Malfoy could reply, Harry was already headed for the door. Harry rounded the corner, shrugged his shirt off, and left it by the door,; stepping over it as he entered the bathroom. Once instead, charmed on the knobs; adjusting the tone, “Hey Malfoy,” He called through the door, checking the water, “What temperature do you like your water? Steaming hot, or half and half?”

Harry laughed as he heard a strangled cry, and footsteps thudding around the room before Malfoy joined him.

( Harry never had to complain about Malfoy being too loud after that. Though, a few others that lived on the same hall as them often had complaints of loud noises throughout the night.. )

when you were first getting into art, what and how did you draw? (like did you just doodle ur masterpieces on pieces of paper and posted-notes or did you have a proper sketchbook) how did you find motivation? bc ive been trying to draw but I always get unmotivated and stop while still wanting to get better just by doing nothing.

mmh… I’ll get into details with this one tbh bc it’s a long ass process ahah :

I live by the sea ; when i was youung i used to draw TONS of boat, but like, dollhouse boats, you could see the insides and stuff ; i loved to add tiny details and stuff, and imbricate everything together !

around 8 or 9 yo, i went to the public library with school and discovered the wonderful world of mangas ! I basically… Copy pasted an entire Mermaid Melody tome x)

For about 2 years i alternated between reading mangas and trying to copy them ! Then i just kept drawing in the margins of my schoolwork for about… 5 years ! I have a Fuck Ton of sketchbooks of that time, it was… The start. Lol. Never say it’s bad because it’s never bad, just not there yet !!

Around my 13 yo, i went every saturday, for two years, under a bookstore ; there was a cave, and drawing classes ; that teacher was mean and harsh and stuff, but like… Not really. He would take away my eraser for the class, force me to use pencil, to draw something else (bulky boys instead of magical girls).

I’ve learned a lot, more in terms of How To LEARN to draw than to draw itself, but i still progressed a LOT !!

Then i kept drawing by myself for a year and i really worked hard on it ; about hours a day, trying watercolors and stuff ; i have a real problem with colors in traditionnal art, but i’m much better with lines (i should scan some RAD stuff i made in the weekend, yall ive never done anything this good i stg i dont know why i always forget im so much better on paper)

This gets us to my sweet 16 ; i have to year of advance, bc i got ‘’’promoted’’’ idk how to say it ; anyways, i entered my (current) animation school for the first year at 16; vERY IMPRESSIVE AND TERRIFYING.

And i learned. A fuckmegaton. Of shit there.

Now i’m going for my third year there and i can make photorealistic marmora blades and cyberkpunk decors if i want to and that’s rad, but here is

HOW TO ACTUALLY FUCKING DRAW :

I have one HYPER important advice, and i’m keeping it to heart since i’m like, 11 : Have. Sketchbooks. Please !!! It’s very important. Here’s why :

You keep everything with you in one place. You have 1 sketchbook, it’s basically easy to take every where (a A5, or A4 are pretty easy to carry, i have like, 12 of those, and around 8 of A3)

You keep track of what you’ve done. It’s super important, bc first you can cry of laughter at your old stuff bc its cute but not so good, and second, you can just be like ‘holy mama’ and see how much you’ve improved

It’s very important to be organized. I WORK in art, and trust me, if there’s something that i’ve learned this year through tears and missing files and bugs : Be. Impeccable. Now if it’s for fun, go a little loose, and just have a folder for art on your computer, and a sketchbook, no need to stress, but the better you try to keep a record of where is what, the better you’ll see whats wrong

Notebooks are friends !! You can draw, write, glue stuff, make notes, lists, everything !!! I have my life in those. It’s more important to me than any of my phones.

Be proud of it. Like, not everything, duh ! But try to tell yourself than it’s like a RPG ; even if it’s only 2 xp here and there, one day you’ll beat level 40, and that’s super important : art is. Fuckin. Long.

I cant stress it enough. It’s soooo long !!! SO LONG !! it’s years. It’s like karate and fishing and ANYTHING. To be good at it, it takes time, but it WILL COME if you keep trying. There’s no secret passage.

You’re gonna me it, believe in me who believes in you.

Use. References.

Coming from a little shit who’s got a really good visual memory, that can sound like bs, but i stg everything is always AT LEAST twice as good if you’ve used a visual support.

I’m not saying COPY EVRYTHING (even though thats a good training) I’m saying, if you really want to do that asian tiger, please have at least two or three pictures of it nearby. Take photos of your hands, and stuff !

Make it harder.

No eraser.

Paint.

I draw all my backgrounds on my sketchbook with INDIAN INK; no returns, no refunds.

Ink, Ink, INK !! Don’t allow mistakes.

Cubism is actually based on extensive and intense practice of classical art, it’s not wibbly wooblly ; the anatomy is more correct than you think

Structure and composition are important, but so is movement and life ; choose your fighter ; mine is fluidity and fun, i’m like, a rogue/archer in drawing. Some people are dwarf fighter. That’s amazing and great.

Don’t be afraid to do nothing

Actual advices :

I have an inspiration blog where i just reblogs stuff i like to draw them later

Find a picture, copy it. Do it again. Change the characters (i have 2 ocs and Lance and Keith as default characters) in the pic.

Like an artstyle ? Break it to its very core, analyse it, copy it, redo it, trace it and ABSORB it. Don’t copy/past, LEARN from your heroes.

Do what you like. I have 86578 pieces of voltron, this is not a coincidence. I have ENDLESS ideas for this show, wtf.

Try new things. Buy indian ink im begging you. It’s so cool.

Have a game with yourself, or a challenge. STICK TO IT.

Study. When you’re bored, usually it’s because you’re stagnating. Make it harder or do hands until you cry.

Love your backgrounds; make backgrounds, study trees, and tokyo streets, and venice’s bridges. Decor is just as cool as characters, if not more

Mess a little with everything. My roomate more than one found me stained from head to toes trying to DO STUFF

Draw outfits. Draw what you want but can’t afford

MAKE YOUR LIFE A COMIC. Remember those sketchbooks ? Make a comic a week/month/every full moon, whatever, and draw your life (mine’s the roomates au lol)

Prompts blogs are cool too

Make fanart of a fic you liked ; you have the characters and the pose already, you just have to illustrate ; double bonus, you probably will make a writer’s day, if not year !

That little movie that plays when you listen to your favorite song ? DRAW IT

Your favorite scene in your favorite movie ? Redraw each shot. On post it. Plus it looks awesome afterwards to have the infamous TREX scene of Jurassic Parks in post it

Get bored. That’s inevitable. Dance, scream, get back to it. Walk, draw everything you see.

Make a paper google map street view : Take a walk : every 50 meters, draw what is in front of you.

Snapchats your friends. Draw their snapchats when they answer

Draw maps. Invent places. Invent bikes, and hovercrafts, and monsters. Make your everyday inventory. Make your life a video game, and do the concept arts of it.

FETCH your inspiration. I have approx. 20 artbooks, full of drawings and concept arts of my fave movies/games ; take what you like and add it to the story you have since you’re 8. We all have one.

Ask for it ; your sis, your mom, me even ! If you dont have ideas, someone will have them.

Sword and Shield Overview Part 2

So this review took much longer than expected, as I typed some things, but forgotten about this review, and stuffs, so I finally got more things to add from my part 1 back in last November as well as looking back at the game a couple of times to give off my thoughts on the game itself. I will address the flaws and the great of the game. To give off of what the game is, it's a decent Pokemon game.

The Mechanics Once I take a try on the mechanics, a couple of them are pretty interesting. Well, the gyms got brought back, but as stadiums. It's a really nice way to have everyone look at gym battles. We never really see random people watching a gym battle in any Pokemon games, and it widens the world. However, The only problem is any type of battle, the field is really small. It seems like each Pokemon are too close together, even if they're not. I would like the player and the opponent would distant themselves more to widen the battle more, almost like Pokemon Battle Revolution. That way, we don't have to see trainers disappears when some moves are being used and reappear. Also, it would've show more of the attack moves. Now the next mechanic that I liked is the wild area. The wild area is really an interesting concept and it does give you a feel of a open world. The random weathers, items, and hidden items that shines adds the new generation of wild Pokemon world. Well, I wished a couple of places in main Galar have movable camera, but it's good enough to see the big part of the wild area. I would've picked longer draw distance on objects, as they're too close, but I'll explain later about it. Dynamax, well it's a mixed bag. It seemed like an interesting idea as I can see it be useful, but you would have to know when to use it at the end of the pokemon battle when one of us have a last Pokemon. It can be a bit unfair when batling online as it's a bit OP if timing hasn't been used correctly, like using it in first turn instead of later. I do find Dynamax more fitting for raid battles as it's battling against a dynamax pokemon in the wild or just a straight up dynamax battle. I know a lot of people don't like dynamax as it can be over powered, so I can see why some battles don't make use of it on online battles to make it a more fair battle. I do appreciate Dynamax concept, but I think it needed its time to plan out even better in the game to get more appreciation. Still, I don't mind using them in some battles like the post game or straight dynamax battles or even battling gym leaders or Champion Leon, although the difficulty can be a bit all over the place especially playing it online and the reason why I wished it was better thoughout. I don't hate dynamaxing though. The Bike is useful, and you can surf with it instead of having Pokemon use Surf. For me, I think Sun and Moon removing HMs and to have all the moves being used without any Pokemon learning them, is an interesting idea. Flying to cities by using a map sounds like a fine idea. Sword and Shield seems to take half of the changes from Sun and Moon. Autosaving is a handy feature, but I prefer to save it manually incase if I haven't left the building or area without saving, or if I ever have disabled it and forgot about it. I still prefer old fashioned saving.

Difficulty Well, as much some of the ideas makes the game enjoyable, there are some parts of the game where it's too easy, and it's mostly not related to the aforementioned ideas in the game. It seems like I don't really feel much of the difficulty on some battles, especially the later main story. I didn't grind as much. Most of the Whydon City story were too easy, and I thought it would be more challenging. The difficulty was too easy in almost all parts of Whydon, from entering the Whydon Stadium, to battle Oleana and meet Rose. I feel like they should've been more challenging. The Whydon City should've been a bit more challenging to all Gym Leaders than when you battle them the first time. I just defeated them with barely any Pokemon change. Even the Rose story part, they all seem too easy, even Oleana. I thought Oleana would be challenging, but that battle didn't feel as challenging as I thought it would be. Prior to battling Leon in the finals, the most challenging Gym Leader was Raihan. I lost to him a couple of times, so he is pretty challenging than anything in Whydon City except for Leon. As for Leon, He seems challenging enough for the finals, but I wished all gym leaders were a bit better, even re-battling Raihan. I mean even with all EXP shares permanently active, it's still feels like they could've made more balanced battle, like what I saw with first battle of Raihan and final Leon battle. A couple of Gym Leaders difficulty are appropriate as I lost a few times on a few of them. The first Gym Leader I didn't lose the first time was Bea, and it seems like a fair battle like most of the gym leaders in their first battle. As for random trainers, I would've have them in slightly higher level outside the gym, but more so Team Yell. Team Yell grunts are a bit easy, even on the task to get to Piers on Gym Battle. Now as I was thinking about the Dynamax battle, it did make some battles a bit more challenging, and I lost to some gym leaders by their last Pokemon, and mostly Final Battle with Leon. However, dynamax can have its difficulty a bit all over the place, not as often on gym battles or stadiums, but more so online battles, mostly depending how the rules of the battles are set up. As for Raid Battles, yes, they're pretty difficult and everyone told me that Zygrande Raid is the hardest one in the game, so maybe more challenge in the game. Overall, the difficulty is at the least better than LGPE, even with some mishaps that makes some parts of the game a bit too easy. I'll get over another thing later where I explain my thoughts on gamefreak's words as to why later Pokemon games became more easy, and how they could've improve it.

Graphics and Animation: Okay, this would have lots of explaining to do about this game with graphics and animation. Well, as it was released in late 2019, being a rushed game, it was not impressive. As I mentioned about Gamefreak's words on their focus on high quality animation as to not having all pokemon available to the game's release, we had to focus on the graphics and animation to see if not having all Pokemon was worth it, and it turns out it remained underwhelming. Sure, you guys can point out the trees with bad textures all you want, and was relevant at the time, but I don't think one bad example could prove the game's underwhelming expectations, but a couple more problems to prove it. I could also say gameplay will often be the most priority over the graphics, which is commonly true. To put this in my view of this high quality animation thing in to view the game's graphics and animation itself, and I know the game has more than graphics, but I just want to review this part on its own. As I said, it's underwhelming, at least lots of parts of the game. As it was rushed for Christmas money, some parts of the game were not as impressive. Sure a simple fix with the tree texture would be ideal, and simple animations on the moves like double kick could've had more work. Not to mention the Mouse Cursor were printed on the beginning of the cutscene and end credits, which those weren't recorded from OBS program, but rather the development version of the games, that also contains a mouse cursor. With those aside, I could mention how the game's performance and resolution goes. Seeing the game being sub-720p 30fps (portable) and sub-1080p 30fps (docked) on outdoors and special moves on dynamax battles, it isn't optimized well, compared with other games that would look superior. When I take a look at the beta on CFW switch, it couldn't stay at 30fps on Hulbury City, and under 20fps down from the daycare center, when staying at constant 720p (portable) and 1080p (docked). As a rushed game, they also don't have time for further optimization. As Gamefreak do 3D Pokemon games from X and Y, they aren't best at optimizing rendering for performance. Gen 6 lags with 3D-stereo on (no reason to use 3D-stereo) and without 3D, some Pokemon lags the game, especially with double and horde battles. Other 3DS games can get away with higher polygon counts due to further optimization. With Sword and Shield, this trend continues in a smaller extent. While reducing resolution to stay at 30fps, there's no lag. I was kinda unimpressed when coming out from home and seeing the outdoors in lower resolution, but later on, I didn't really mind. I did use a texture pack from BSOD gaming, and there was a couple of improvements. As for the animations, like I said, I wished TPC didn't force the game to be out too early (to sync with the merch) so they would iron out animation errors or redo simple animation. The mom in the beginning of the game doesn't turn to the other direction when talking to her. Lots of pop-ins and NPCs and items having short draw distance instead of reducing polygons, and with Onix popping in at front of you in Monostoke City. I saw all the list from DistantKingdom's videos, and well, that was disappointing at the time. Some animation flaws, might be laughable, but still looking like it was not ready. BUT, does those problems make the entire game look bad? My answer, if the gameplay is actually better than the graphics, then no. You may still have fun playing the game if you can get past the graphic and animation problems. However, I can understand being disappointed with it if you mainly focus on the whole dexit situation of its statement, but at the least, none of the game was ever gamebreaking or any lower quality graphics or animation should take the game's quality by a huge amount. Couple of other parts of the main game can look better, such as the Stadiums and Route 3 and 5 looking pretty fine for me, and also Raid battles too. As for the main game, the graphics is overall... okay. It doesn't look really bad overall, even one small tree texture doesn't really justify all its graphics. However, like I said, more development time would've make many places of the game look better, but also stated that graphics are usually overshadowed by gameplay, to which it's at the least tolerable if you play it.

Now let's get into DLC's animation and graphics. Short answer, it improved better, more so Crown Tundra. While the outdoors are still at sub-native resolution, it still managed to look even better. Gamefreak at the least had more time to develop with two DLC maps. Isle of Armor improves itself with not only the visuals, but also animation expressions from the characters and fast slowpokes. Only problem was the Pokemon couldn't keep up with you while running, but the graphics seems to be more stable and refined, even better than some parts of mainland Galar. My favorite design of the map was the island with the big tree with six sub-islands around it. As for Crown Tundra, wow...as Gamefreak proved that they can make Sword and Shield graphically impressive, this is it. I know not in a level of Pokken, but still big enough to say. Like Armor, Tundra has many variants of areas with different weathers, and they managed to make the second map look more pleasing. Two places of the Tundra map I can say that looks really great in my memory is Dyna Tree Hill and Slippery Slope. Freezington looks great too, and with many trees around and not lagging, it's really amazing. The Legendary Birds from Kanto in Tundra Form looks amazing. All the animations you see are pretty acceptable. I could point out the problem with the fade-ins and black screens and not do animation, like Hop getting hit by the apple Pokemon missing, but still, there's plenty of animation done and done better in the DLCs.

Designs: For a 3D Pokemon game, I like all the character models. Even Sordward and Shielbert's model design. They finally have right portions, not being in LGPE, and they have movable pupils so they don't have to use texture-illusion to make limited eye and eyebrow expressions. All of character design looks generally great. As for the Pokemon, I could only mention Galar Pokemon, and older Pokemon with Galar form, being in a fine design. Like the graphics paragraph about the game being rushed, much of the older Pokemon were imported from 3DS games, which, like LGPE, which isn't really new. Besides those, the new models of Pokemon looks great. What about the maps? Some cities looks well designed, and others, not so great. Many routes and caves lookes more straightforward, especially routes. Open routes that are around Monostoke City and Hammerlock City are the best routes of the game due to being open and have more variety to show what an open world route should look like. Despite some parts looking inferior, graphics wise, the map design shows a lot of good work with it. Now many routes, a lot of them just became more of a hallway, and not really expanded enough. Route 3, Route 5, and Galar Mine No.1 are the ones I could think off that a lot of them are like. I like Route 4 and 6's designs the most since they tend to expand wide enough for items and trainers around instead of looking like lines of trainers waiting for you for a battle. LOL! Monostoke City and Circhester are the cities that are well designed at least for me. The least designed one was Spikemuth. Sorry Piers, your city is too simple and straight. Yeah, I wished the city wasn't a straight line and add more variety to make the whole Team Yell challenges more creative. Whydon City, I do wish it was a bit more like Castelia City or Lumiose City level of large city, since it's a capital city, being based on London. For what we got, it's fine. To go over the characters, I would have to review their design in the character section. Overall, model designs and new Pokemon are done pretty well and some of the maps looks great, but lots of routes and some caves are just hollow. They need to be more expanded and have a lot of work, including the mentioned cities.

Before I get into the characters, I want to make it clear about being a 3D Pokemon game. I hear some people think this game, or any past games, remain 2D, and I disagree. Sure 2D can show more expressions, but 3D can proven to be as good as 2D, as to how this game was compared with Battle Revolution and Pokken. These games proved that the main games can work with 3D. Especially as an MMD animator, I know a lot about 3D animation and can be almost as expressive as 2D. Sure Pokemon or characters turning slowly from animation subject isn't completely realistic for its aesthetics, but Pokken and Battle Revolution proved that, and so did the DLCs. Even Legend of Zelda, with their games given more dev time, showed their transition to 3D, even with Link's Awakening, has managed to look really great with 3D models and all. Also, even back in N64 days, with Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, and Snap, was also cool to see Pokemon in 3D, even seeing more polygons and low resolution textures. So I am completely fine with main Pokemon games going 3D. Just like how I'm fine with Miraculous Ladybug being a 3D animation, even with old 2D trailer, but that's another story.

Characters Well, here's the part I really want to get to, explaining each characters and what I think about themselves and their characteristics. Victor and Gloria are just players, and funny memes with Gloria as Scottish Trainer. Victor seems like a cool trainer, and Gloria is just cute. Hop, I know some of you will say he's a complete copy of Hau from Sun and Moon, same personality and animation, and I get it. However, he seems to have different goals at least, so I didn't feel like Hop was a rehash of Hop, almost, even with same personality. With that said, he seems like a good friend in the games. Hop seems really supportive with his brother Leon. He wasn't happy when Bede once defeated him. Champion Leon, he's a pretty great character. Him being friendly to the player since the beginning of Sword and Shield, and he's pretty funny. There's a gag of him being bad at directions, and lots of fans likes to play around with him getting lost for comedic purposes. Not only that, but he's well supportive with Hop too, and also had been friends with Sonia since childhood. I don't really see romantic connection with the two, but just friends, which is rare to see platonic friendship in media. We get to see his own room in Hop's house, and with many things we see in both Twilight Wings and the anime so far, he's an interesting Champion. One thing I really wished they could've done with Leon is he should've have a Dragapult as his main Pokemon instead of Charizard. It would make more sense to get to know more of Galarian Pokemon in Galar, instead of using Charizard for just fan favorites. It didn't really add anything special, but other than that, he's a fun person. I know some people hate him for being dumb? Or if he was a weak champion? He seems to show more character than some might say, so I'm glad he's got good enough attention to have getting lost jokes and great enough fanarts. Sonia, I like her design, and I think she's attractive. Sonia is pretty helpful during the game, by giving you items and helping the events during the main game. She seems really and is best friends with Nessa. All the gym leaders are likable. We have Milo. Wow, it takes really long to get to the first gym battle. Milo seems like a nice person and has many Wooloos with him. His gym puzzle was fine. It's funny when certain people comment him lacking a nose, but he has one. Next is Nessa! A really lovable Nessa. She seems like a really strong trainer, and also has interesting friendhip with Sonia. Nessa looks like a comedic swimmer if I think about her roles in my videos. But yeah, she seems like a great friend with other gym leaders. Kabu the fire type. I like how he came from Hoenn, and also seems pretty serious gym leader. As I remember, he was pretty nice to the trainer, even after battling when he congratulate the player and Hop for battling three gym leaders. He also seems like a comedian when thinking about fanon stories. lol And my most favorite gym leader of Sword and Shield is Bea! Bea is my favorite character of the generation too! She's adorable, and really strong and tomboyish, the type of female characters I love the most. Bea looks always brave and wow, she's got skills. I liked her backstory of how she's trained, and has her smiles too. I liked all the media she's in, even Journeys, and she's adorable. I liked the cute kid Bea. Bea is my favorite that I could go on and make a single post about her as to why she is my favorite. Bea is pretty nice, even with harsh training she has got for years. Oh and her cuteness on eating sweats are adorable ^w^ Alister is also pretty interesting character. I only got Sword so I couldn't battle him. Alister's design with the ghost mask looks like he could scare others on a party, being a ghost gym leader. Many people headcanon him as Bea's younger brother, and please let this be a thing, Journeys or in general, Game Freak and Pokemon Company. My headcanon while being related to Bea as siblings, Bea is supportive for Allister's emotions if he ever feels scared or cries, to show both siblings in care. After Bea or Allister, we get Opal. An interesting old lady who's a gym leader, being a fan of pink. Well, her stories going around Bede is funny. She goes to him and takes him to her care and have Bede be around Pink, which is funny. Also she asked two questions during the battle to not give you status affected to your Pokemon. One of them asked the player how old she is, and being 86 is correct, she also states to be polite. Well, honesty doesn't seem to be usually polite, isn't it? XD Next would be Gordie. Gordie looks like a fun guy who likes riding with rock Pokemon. He seems to be friendly with other trainers too. It's interesting that he's the son of Melony, who's a gym leader too, if playing Shield in place of Gordie. She's also the likable mother, and I could say moreso than any player's mothers due to the fact that we get to see at least parents of a gym leader or at least has a family, IN A GAME (not counting anime Brock or Misty) and I know Norman is your dad in Hoenn. However, Melony and Gordie has nice share of family in the stadium, and she seems like a nice person. She is really prepared for ice climates and hey, she's an interesting big and beautiful mother. The next one and most interesting one is Piers! Piers is one of the most interesting written gym leader in the game. Piers appears more and even post game too. He is the only one who never relies on Dynamax battles nor own any stadiums and just gym, even though the town he's in is too simple, but doesn't affect him at least. I know some don't like dynamax and it can hae some flaws of it depending on the player, but his dislikes of it seems interesting seeing him being different from other gym leaders and him being afraid of them. He has a sister named Marnie, which I'll get to in a bit. Oh, and he does appear singing in the game twice. The flaw of the game is he does not have a voice when singing, which they should've have to tell he's singing. However, that spawned a gag and meme for Piers always forgetting to turn on his mic whenever he performs, and fanarts and headcanons have him be told he forgot to turn on his mic. So funny! Also his expressions are priceless. On post game, he helps out to stop Sword and Shield duos from forcing dynamax to every stadiums, and he's always relieved that his place never got dynamaxed, as to how his area was never meant for dynamaxing of course. XD Before I cover Raihan, I'll cover Marnie. She first appears in Monostoke hotel with Team Yell distrubing the place, and Marnie stops them. As far as I try remembering Marnie, she's fine as a character. At first, she seems serious by her looks, and smiles more later on. As her development goes, it's decent. Not the best that I can consider greatly developed as a whole, but still a memorable character, partly her design looks the best, and being Pier's brother. Marnie's smile animation looks pretty cute! She is pretty supportive with Piers, as she takes over his gym, as Piers wanted to be a dark trainer. Those are the most memorable thing I see from Marnie. Now let's go to Raihan, the last Gym leader. Well, he's a cool dude. He's the strongest gym leader of the game, no doubt bring the 8th gym leader. The most memorable thing is his dynamaxing animation, where he turns and takes a quick selfie with Rotom Phone, and spawned lots of memes as him being the obsessed selfie man. Even his artwork shows his personality of him being good looking for his phone to post on Insta-mon app. Wow, his artwork and expressions are brilliant. He likes to defeat Leon one day and never succeed, but it doesn't stop him smiling for a selfie. LOL We have Rose next. Rose looks like an evil businessman or just irresponsible business man, either way it's funny. As a villain in the story, well, he's not really memorable. As the game was rushed, and never will address the issue on the story's pacing, him as the villain at near the end of the main game seems less memorable. I tried remembering the stuff he does, and I know I can just go and see them on youtube, but his story isn't really the best nor was helping him to be taken seriously. Him talking to Leon in that moment of the game, it didn't feel like it was meant to be a powerful scene for the audience. Also, his role was short in the entire game, from the restaurant meeting, to the stadium battle before the final battle with Leon, there isn't much to say about him as how he was served in the game other than looking like the evil businessman. However, I do remember two things about him. First, his outgoing outfit, his shorts looks decorated that it almost looked like he was wearing boxers in public. I know they could've have the shirt decorated rather than the shorts to have it a better design, but that's still seen as a joke. The second thing is...his stare from Twilight Wings. I find it strangely funny. His stare on Nessa was just random. LOL As of Oleana, well, she's insane. We all see Oleana as the freaky woman and sure is a group with Rose. With her insanity, it sure is what we just know about her. XD Now, the crazy twins, Sordward and Shielbert, first off, they have insane hairs, mostly Sordward! Wow! We couldn't imagine a haircut like that! A hair shaped like a sword! Second, their names are just funny. Sordward is really close to Squidward, and Shielbert is a similar funny name as Sordward, except I couldn't think of a character that's close to his name, but funny enough. Well, those two may seem too silly for you, but they serve their purpose to be meme-able. That's the best way to describe them, and also they're villains in the post game. As for their story, they were fine. Just a bit short and not as well paced. Them causing forced dynamax to all stadiums (except Piers's) and battling them was all right, but could wish a bit more challenge as far as I can remember. Now as for Isle of Armor, We meet Klara and Avery. Both welcome you to the island. Klara seems like a yandere and creepy while Avery wants to use psychic powers on people. I played Sword, so I see Klara's part only. Well, she seems like she just wants to compete with you and beat you to have Mustard proud of her. I assume Avery's situation is similar. Well, Klara looks pretty charming, I actually prefer Avery. He looks funny, and has a cool floating Pokeballs with him on his long hat. Mustard and Honey seem like a respectable members of the Dojo. Honey really does look like Princess Daisy. XD. Mustard looks like a cool guy and also a funny one too. MMD videos makes these characters really funny. Wow. As for Kyle, we barely know him. Penoy and Peonia first appear in Crown Tundra. Due to Peony's silliness, he looks like a comedic father from many dads from cartoons. Him getting used by the Pokemon for talking, and how he's hot blooded, is how I could tell he's the typical dad in children's media. As for Peonia, all I could remember is she wants to take an adventure on her own instead of being with her dad, while he wants to protect her. It was pretty little to get to know Peonia, but we do get more of Peony's screentime. Bede is another rival in Sword an Shield. He seems like a jerk, but as the story goes on, it's understandable. Bede had to be trained by Rose and all that, and well, his wrongdoings had got him kicked out from Rose himself when Bede tried smacking the ancient wall that shook Stew-on-Stow in worries. Oh, and him being stuck with Opal is really funny. He appears in the Whydon Stadium before the final battle, telling the player how much he suffered his life with Rose, and being with Opal surrounded with Pink, and he also shown to like it. Bede may be a dork in the game, but his story was satisfy able. He's more interesting to me than Hop. Speaking of Hop, Bede couldn't stand Hop's naive personality, and laughed how Hop couldn't defeat Bede. Hop's silly in a good way, but Bede is pretty right about him. XD SwSh has really interesting concept of creating characters, and I even saw memes of them, like Bede's song in animation as well as Marnie's theme. 2D vine animation was made, and all known characters were fit right as their characteristics were so interesting that their roles in each vine fits perfectly.The weakest character for me would be Rose as mentioned, but there is no character in SwSh that I truly dislike, unlike Anime Iris in Best Wishes or Lila Rossi and Chloe from Miraculous Ladybug. I even like making two Nessa and Sonia's Sketch Show on my channel.

Story The story in SwSh was...ok. It was pretty weak. In the main game, as the game was rushed, the pacing of the story is flawed, so it didn't have a lot of time to make room for some characters. In the whole Leon and Rose plot, as they were talking, there was no music playing and flat animation, as they were just pics. It was supposed to be emotional, but since no music was added, there isn't anything to feel much. Well Rose's story isn't really memorable as his parts are just short. As I made my point about Rose, the pacing and story didn't really make Rose memorable enough and that's why I had a harder time writing about Rose other than he's a weak villain of the series. I know Twilight wings showed more about Rose, but for the games, I wished it was expanded enough to be memorable than just him giving a stare XDD. As for Leon, his story is all right. Leon's story seems more interesting than Rose's story. He was shown to have more story than any other champions in Pokemon. The whole Galar Gym leaders are fine, and even Bede's story too. Sonia was shown to have good enough screentime. However, I do wish to see more friendship between her and Leon. As for the post-game, it seems a bit weaker. Introduction to Sordward and Shielbert is fine, but it can sometimes be fast paced. At one time, when Sonia's assistant betrayed Sonia in the lab, and it wasn't too long when we get to the end where she apologized to her and Sonia decided to her her join back. That's not how it works. I wouldn't let a traitor be the lab assistant again if they betrayed and shown to side with two villains. Not only that, but everyone seems to be okay with the twins after the post game story was about to end. Well it's a bit unreal for villains to be taken nicely once after their event just finished, so it didn't make a lot of sense to me. The very end with me battling Hop and the legendary Pokemon there is interesting as well as the beginning. The main games's story have some pacing issues, so let's see how the DLCs are like.

In Isle of Armor, while short for each DLC, they're still interesting. They seem to be handled better for me. In Armor, I like the introduction for Klara and Avery as well as the events in Dojo. The side quests and the final battle by the Dojo are pretty cool. I like how it explained about Klara or Avery trying to please Mustard and Honey as they wanted to be their support, and learns to respect the player at the end. They may leave out poison spikes and psychic terrains on the field, but they're pretty redeemable to both the player and anyone in the Dojo. Now to Crown Tundra, I like the story with Calyrex, who's always controlling Peony whenver it needs communication, explaining the story and its needs. Peony seems like a funny guy. Peonia, well only problem was she isn't as much in the story as Peony, so I wish I wanted to know more about her other than trying to get away from her dad. Still, I really find the story interesting as it's a story by a legendary Pokemon, and it was long enough to get to know Calyrex and its lore. Well if I can combine both DLCs stories and compare it with main story in Galar, it's a bit short but understandable as they're DLCs, but the writing and pacing of them seems better overall.

I wished the story in the main game was really improved and have better pacing, and also help out to flesh out character more often, like Hop and Rose. It's pacing issues is liked to the story being rushed, so not only the graphics and animation is the problem, but also the story too as it needs a fine pacing. It seems like a similar situation with Big Hero 6, where the characters and their concept are really interesting, but the story and pacing are the problem and could be why they got more focus as to the game/movie's problems and overshadowing the characters and their concepts as they had more potential. The story in the game isn't bad. I just say it's okay like stated in the beginning of this. I enjoyed it, but like I said, I wish it got enough development time to fix a couple of the flaws. As for DLCs, they seem better.

Also to keep note that I do prioritize gameplay>story>graphics in that way. Graphics as started in the animation isn't my huge priority over the gameplay. Only rare case if graphics and design are a problem over gameplay is if it's really ugly looking like Pokemon Playit games. If story is worse than gameplay such as TLOU 2 due to being intentionally very divisive, is also the same thing. Gameplay is more important for a game to be fun, as long as story is decent enough and graphics are not horrible looking such as Playit, those are worse looking Pokemon games LOL.

So I'm not done with the review yet, as I have part 3 to think about other stuffs regarding Sword and Shield's reputation, so I'll be making part 3 where I discuss other things and just to get the review of the game itself sooner, so I hope you understand me trying to be honest with the games and such, so see you in part 3.

for the first in a while, I'm gonna ... try to take it easy, today.

I actually have a lot to do but I really need to chill the fuck out for a second and take a breather. my OCD's made my life remarkably difficult lately and I've begun to disassociate in order to cope. I know disassociation plays a key role in obsessive-compulsive disorders; I know my OCD's fairly severe and it's been getting worse as I get older, but I'm not...usually this bad. Even when under stress.

for example, a batch of 200 commissioned banner icons suddenly turns into 400+, and I'm still not done because I can't stop keep remaking them.

oh, this one's coloring is off. but these frames are split second to each other ... can't have that, gotta redo 'em.

yesterday, my OCD got triggered about 3 times? I have a couple of forms. I had a breakdown in front of my mother after she came home and asked me if I ate and I know I must've made some kinda stupid face that gave it away because seconds after she'd asked, I realized I didn't know what the hell ate other than the toast she'd watched me eat before she left for work at 9am. It was 11pm when she asked.

I also had mini-breakdown while talking to my customer and it was terribly embarrassing. I got a nosebleed to top it all off too lmao ( i'm so sorry if you're reading this, john omfg you've been the best to me and I'm sorry because I'm sure all you'd wanted was icons to rp sdfkjsd )

but I just.

All of my friends think OCD is just me having high ass standards or just being 'know-it-all'. I've been called that all my life. In fact, I've been called that by friends I thought would never say anything like that about me because I thought we were friends

We live in this new age of 'awkward is cute'. It's hip to be square, cool to be uncool, and sexy to be nerdy and quirky. and there isn’t any better way to declare your individuality and weirdness than branding yourself 'so OCD' about something.

If my friends could see, just once, what it's like for me, when I'm caught in an obsessive-compulsive loop, maybe then they'd finally understand me when I say ''''it's bad''''.

Even Something as simple as drawing a line-art from a sketch turns into a complete and total nightmare. 8/10 times, I'll redraw the line-art like — hm, I don' dunno — about 7 fuckin' times in a row, then, delete all of it because IDK, it wasn't 'right'? ( Who am i kidding; I do the same with sketches ヽ(・ω・)ﾉ )

Oh, yeah, for sure. Me and my ‘high fucking standards' did this.

NO. No one in their right mind would do this. They wouldn’t re-draw the same fucking drawing 7 times in a row and the same layer style over and over, not even changing things up to maybe get some progress. Nobody. Jfc.

I never thought I would talk about this, but uh, Y'all know how much I love han. I want Han to be seen in the best light possible. while SW has been one of the few things that have held a light in my life, he's helped me become a better person in more ways than I can articulate. and no, I don't mean I suddenly started picking trash up off the highways.

I mean, by writing him in this amazing place filled with people I don’t have IRL who share my interests, I’ve met so many new people, friends, learned so many lessons, about characters and life and writing.

When I began writing Han, here, I had just learned what present and past tense was in English. I was winging my writing, trying really hard to understand. English isn't my first language. In Cantonese, my native language, there's no such thing as a past tense.

By writing Han with you guys, I've taken huge steps in life, without even realizing it.

So, everything I do for han, I want for it to be good.

Not outstanding, and definitely not exemplary or nonpareil — just ... good.

And icons — haha. I love icons. I love and hate making them. similar to my writing, I work very hard on his icons. ... but I need to learn where to draw the line.

I once remade an icon 23 times before I was happy with it. ( i had 23 versions left in my folder lmao ). like these here? 10 versions of each, in the least.

( the last one is kinda an exception... I think. I made that one well over 25 times, for sure. but I think it's because I'm not accustomed to Blaine's coloring yet. )

Wow, this really turned into a long post. I don't really care, though. My OCD is something that has always been completely ignored IRL. Shit, it's ignored by even my online friends. I can't even game online without one of them thinking I must get off on establishing my superiority and overall knowledge of '???’ game. Haha.

It's never considered 'advice' when it's from me. It's me as a know-it-all, as someone who looks down on others for not having up-to-par stats.

I'm sorry I did the math for you so you wouldn't have to. This is simply advice you're free to toss aside, but it's not like it matters. Even if I reassured that—you're already too annoyed to listen for any longer.

So, I’ll also apologize for how I can recall faction modifiers, body part modifiers, critical hit and stealth modifiers, as well as debuffs; how a certain amount of damage of one type turns into inflicted damage to a target while considering type modifiers and armor, and knowing the damage formulas needed to calculate the number of hit points required to kill an armored or unarmored target, with or without a finisher multiplier figured in — because I want you to do the very best with your weapon of choice, even though I can name 5 different weapons that utterly outclass it by tenfold.

In reality, I never had much of choice. Information like that doesn't stop looping in my mind, even at night, when all I want is to sleep.

Sometimes ... I wish I could be that one character on a comedy show who has a quirky disorder or ''OCD'' and everyone seems to love him for it because he's funny when he does it or he's generally helpful

More often than not, my OCD just ruins everything. I don't feel like I belong anywhere.
