Like ALOT it is clear how much they like him as #a character and respect him. But I am not so sure they were interested in making a important arc of him and set space for a new and better #direction or just pretty much self indulge and fanservice their way out of it. Which I am going to be honest by the level of writing Wade #received I can respect *at least that* and their OC was compelling instead of *gesture vaguely of hot woman self insert of the week that #looks wearily similar to Syrin.#like– Just use Syrin it's the same arc ITS THE SAME ARC #Wade Wilson

i'm completely obsessed with the worldbuilding of hunter x hunter. it's clearly not our world, there are countries that don't exist in reality and there are weird creatures and abilities and everything like it's very clearly its own unique world not just a fantasy version of our world, but at the same time things that explicitly canonically exist in the hxh universe include christianity, the british monarchy*, the country of japan, and death note

*in the 1999 anime specifically

Okay, conspiracy theory time: if Blitzwing being an Autobot experiment was indeed the original backstory planned for him, it ended up being revised into Malware’s backstory

I mean, a specimen with unique abilities amongst their species associated with machinery created by supposed good guy scientist(s) who “came out wrong” in a sense and was driven mad by the mental strain of it, turned rogue as a result of being mistreated by their creators, became a homicidal maniac hellbent on revenge, AND the same guy worked as a character designer on their respective shows? It just makes too much sense.

I mean with how much canon that Derrick J. Wyatt had creative input on, it would certainly not be too farfetched for some older unexplored ideas to be actually put into practice haha. I do love me some morally grey (and like, genuinely grey regardless of how bright or dark the shade) allies and protagonists, even if it has to come at the cost of the mental and physical health of certain antagonists /hj-

Blitzwing may not have had that much focus as a 'character plagued by the narrative' to have explored the implied trauma beyond him serving as one of the main villains with a unique triple changer feature, Malware being rather explicitly that 'someone you should care about' mixed in with the whole 'irredeemable asshole' schtick was very much a little dicey yeet- he deserved a redemption arc if he was to be written as much of a victim of circumstance and ensuing abandonment as he was 😔

look i think the thing people forget is that My Hero Academia is not a typical shounen. Its purposeful. Its well written. Horikoshi does not DO throw away plot-lines. He doesn't ignore plot holes. Over the past 10 years he has proven, time and time and TIME again that this is an incredibly thought out, narrative-driven brilliant story that has taken popular tropes and preconceptions and turned them on their head.

Have a little faith.

y'all, I feel like I've said this a lot, it is truly a joy to be a GM, but I am so fucking ready to get out of the chair and be a player again

#the goalpost keeps moving #i think i have 10 more sessions in me max #those sessions will be PACKED. have to have a mini boss fight. the breaking of a curse. the boss fight. some kind of arc resolution #that will be player driven! whatever they want to do with relations between two groups before they go north!#and THEN the long awaited audience with gil galad to hopefully broker some kind of alliance between them and tar miriel.#winter will arrive and it will see them either at sea or in lindon. hoping for lindon but they could fuck up negotiations for sure.#the problem with my notes tbh is that there is a lot of stuff in my brain but not a lot on paper #anyway. christ. what is it like just showing up to a d&d session with a character sheet and a notebook.#AKB will be 3 years old in january #i think i'm still in the hot seat until april #i love this campaign. i do i really do. but hoooooo boy. i want a real break.#this last hiatus doesn't feel like it counted because it was schedule driven and i still have to keep things spinning in my mental space.#not to mention no one GMed anything in the meantime #there was some poll recently that was about being a player for a long form campaign like what type of characters have you played #and one-shots and campaigns that fizzled out <3 sessions in don't count #i looked at that poll and was like well damn. i haven't been a player in a long form campaign since probably... 2016.
