I had a much healthier relationship with femininity when I realized it was a behavior to be performed rather than an innate state of being.
#ra speaks#personal#the diary of beans#lgbt#trans#transgender#if that makes sense??? like.#I have ALWAYS loved dressing up and wearing skirts and jewelry#but only if it’s exaggerated - more a costume than a simple outfit#I think that’s why I never really got the ‘man it sucks that we girlies gotta wear make up and stuff just to be accepted’#I mean a) closeted queer autistic kid who has never been fully accepted doesn’t get the importance of it bc I’ve survived just fine and b)#those behavoirs for me were explicitly for personal pleasure and a conscious choice to ‘play dress up’ for a bit#even for cis ppl gender is performance but I think they feel more comfortable in costume than out#if we’re tracking that analogy#in short I would have a BLAST doing feminine drag. or masc drag. give me an excuse to wear a costume like it’s Halloween and I’ll show up.
