Hemlock Krin sits in the mess hall, leaning back in her chair as she picks at her food. She hasn't been aboard Discovery long, but so far it's been an interesting adventure. The spore drive has taken most of her attention, helping Stamets find a solution to navigating the mycelial network without altering someone's DNA is Top Priority for Starfleet.

But her mind has also been occupied with other things, namely the one person she's yet to see, that she knows for certain should be here. Waylon's memories of Daniel have been fresh in her mind ever since she jumped at the opportunity to transfer.

Her eyes light up with excitement when she finally sees him enter the mess hall. There he is. She gives him a playful smile when she catches his eye, bringing her spoon up to her mouth and licking it rather seductively as she looks away.

hiiiii so to be clear "second chance wip" is the tag I use for my wip with the title Deep and Dark, Beautiful and Bright, because that was the working title I started the wip with before I named it properly and I've been too lazy to update the tag for literal years now lol

but yeah imagine you and your situationship wake up no memories no context in a post-post-zombie-apocalypse world and you're starting to piece together what happened and then she turns out to be a zombie so you have to kill her except haha joking that was only a piece of her because turns out the Entity that normally possesses only dead bodies got into her when she was alive so now she can regenerate indefinitely. and it turns out that in your past life you were an undead exterminator destined to destroy a great evil and your situationship/employer/partner/friend/frenemy/crush was the chosen one supposed to wield the power of a god to save the world from disaster. And you guys were trying to figure out how to do that but then the god who inhabits her turns out to be the evil zombie entity who will destroy everything if its full consciousness is ever freed so you had to kill her and dismember her into pieces and lock those pieces away in secret chambers in the far corners of the earth to keep it imprisoned forever but before you could seal away the last piece she regenerated and made you absorb the other half of the god (which everyone has been using as a power source for thousands of years), causing an apocalyptic technological shutdown but also giving you the power to destroy the god. So now you have to go find and kill each regeneration of her to reassemble her original body so you can gather the god's consciousness together in order to destroy it. But in order to do that you have to remember where all the pieces are which means that you have to remember that you were in love

the small package seems to weigh twice as much judging by the way she slumps and drags her feet, postponing reaching her destination as much as possible. what will they even say to each other? after their last conversation and the angered words haphazardly spat out, any chance of reconciliation is long gone. perhaps for the best. a secret like that wasn't meant to be kept while seeing someone.

it wasn't as though haley meant to lie. but there was never a natural segue for bringing up being bitten by a radioactive spider and begrudgingly becoming a vigilante overnight. instead, she kept making excuses for always being late and rescheduling their dates, avoiding any contact to hide her injuries. haley figured it was only fair she be the one to break things off too, bearing the weight of that responsibility herself.

definitely not because she was scared of being dumped sooner rather than later.

she takes a deep breath as she finally reaches the house. the walk over had been too familiar, and her feet seemed to steer her the right way no matter how many accidental detours haley tried to make. she stands awkwardly before the front door, the package safely tucked under her arm. she could just leave it there. ring the bell and make a run for it before anyone even got up to open it - she was certainly fast enough now.

with a sigh, haley shakes her head to dismiss those thoughts. hasn't she been cowardly enough already?

the loud ringing of the doorbell makes her mouth dry, and haley's antsy as she shifts her weight from one foot to the other. she's praying ash is the one to open the door - she'll shoot daggers at haley and hiss venom with every word, but that's infinitely better than the alternative.

no such luck.

"hey." her voice sounds foreign even to her own ears, and haley clears her throat in a futile attempt to strengthen it. her eyes are torn between avoiding beth's entirely and refusing to look away - did she look as miserable as haley had been feeling since the breakup? was it wrong to wish for that? that she wasn't alone in her regret and heartbreak, desperate to fix things?

"mailman dropped this at my place. has your name on it." haley shows her the package nonchalantly and hands it over, speaking as if she doesn't know exactly what it is. chrissy's birthday was coming up, and beth figured that having the gift delivered to her house was too risky. haley had done the same plenty of times, barely home herself to receive any mail. during their time together, the roberts' house had become a second home to her. but not anymore. "figured i'd bring it over myself. 's easier."

Difficult decisions and friend pitted against friend had led her to combat that same nature, still bearing the insignia of a company now learned to be corrupt and soon enough dead in the water. they had gone against their whole reason of being , and Valentine was irate — why the Hound Wolf Squad trusted her now, she didn't know, but she had an inkling it was thanks to Chris.

Ground trembled underneath her feet, causing her to stumble a half moment before getting a move on. No way in hell was she sticking around to die, and Chris and his team would need all the help they could get. She followed Zoe not that long after, keeping a strong pace with the younger as they made their way through the Ceremony site as it had once stood. Jill could only hope whatever transport they had waiting for them was nearby as it could be.

I think there's a portion of Janet's audience that feel similarly about GTA and the influx of GTA viewers she's attracted. It's become sorta exhausting to watch any of her content as a non-gta fan. The 18 y/o RP was always a weird decision, imo, and she didn't really question anything about it until it was brought to her attention. I fear the brief drama she was in was also amplified because of that decision, unfortunately.

Yeah. I honestly tried a few times to watch because she speaks so positively of her experience playing but it’s just not for me. I’ve not seen anyone say anything about not liking gta or even mention the weirdness of her rping a teenager so I just thought maybe it was just me. Also her chat just isn’t what it used to be and so intensely rp focused now that I don’t want to join anymore even on non rp days. I’m surprised the drama didn’t give her any second thoughts about that community at all. I only heard about it second hand through Steve talking about it but it sounded really dumb. The streams have been doing well for her numbers wise which she’s mentioned being motivating for her in the past so with an addictive personality that makes a deadly combination.

I think if she wasn’t a bigger streamer it would be more of an issue for people (or at least I’d like to think so because I’ve seen rp fans defend some crazy stuff before so who knows) And I honestly do believe that a lot of interactions she’s had on the server are influenced by her clout.

I’ve basically muted that whole category on twitch and I’ve used blocked terms on other platforms to avoid seeing it. The only place I still see Janet content is instagram and youtube because she hasn’t over saturated those platforms so far. I don’t remember if it was youtube or instagram but a recent reel or short popped up of her revealing to I’m guessing a romantic interest in game that her character is just 18. To see that presented as a stream highlight funny moment is SO uncomfortable to me. It’s been out of sight out of mind for me for a while so that video kinda resurfaced the feelings I’ve had.

initially, nina had been thoroughly confused by this whole team unknown ordeal— the so many of her fellow trainees moving up in the entertainment world, ascending hand in hand with all sorts of opportunities gifted by the company, for a time, nina felt aimless. she'd missed out on it all, dropped the ball somehow at solidifying a labeled seat for the ride up, and despite the ample amount of time she'd now had to recenter herself, parts of her chest still ached every now and then. what was this? what plans did the company have for such a seemingly random handful of trainees?

for as questing as she was, nina knew there was absolutely no room for error. she'd been picked for this for some reason— she wasn't going to let another opportunity, no matter what it may be, slip through her fingers again.

maybe that's why, their usual bickering aside, nina finds herself a bit more willing to spend time around akio. for better or worse, they were now in the same odd basket, and if anyone knew how to stoke the fires of motivation she held inside, it was, unfortunately, him. "do that foot thing again—" nina finds herself huffing out, a hand lifted to fan at herself lightly. it felt like they'd been at it for hours, but in reality, today's dance workshop had only spanned the last hour and a half. "i can't get the angles of it right, i look like bambi trying to take his first steps." she loathed asking him for help, but his dance skills were better than hers. "i wanna see how you do it."
