Lost Trio Week- Day 2: “Mortal AU”
@lost-trio-week
Piper:
Jason (5:00pm): My flight just landed.
Piper (5:02pm): welcome to the city!
Jason (5:02pm): Yeah, well, not ready to explore just yet. Gotta sleep off this jetlag first.
Piper (5:04pm): yh ive got stuff 2 do now
Piper (5:04pm): Im free tomorrow if u wanna tour
Jason (5:04pm): Great! Where should we meet?
Piper (5:10pm): i simply must to take you to this local coffee shop i found.
Piper (5:11pm): the barista is so your type
Jason (5:11pm): Colour me intrigued!
Jason (5:12pm): What’s the address?
“Well, if it isn’t one of my favourite regulars,” the barista nodded at Piper, “How ya been, girl?”
“Hey, Leo!” Piper replied. She gestured to Jason as if she was showing off a prize pig. “I brought a friend!” She announced, “This is Jason.”
Jason stepped forwards and scanned the menu on the chalkboard behind the counter.
“Umm… what’s your tea selection?”
Leo tapped the logo on the price sign, “This is a coffee shop, mi amigo.”
“Are you making fun of my dyslexia?” Jason quipped back.
Leo rolled his eyes, and tapped something on the register screen as he talked. “We do, in fact, sell tea,” he relented.
“What kind?”
He paused his tapping and looked up, “Teas have kinds?”
Jason huffed, “If it’s an option, I’d like Earl Grey, milk, two sugars.”
“Earl Grey? That sounds like a Grandpa drink.”
Piper snorted. “I mean, he’s got a point,” she remarked.
“You’re one to talk, you only drink that overpriced Pumpkin Spiced Latte crap,” Jason countered.
“Well excuse me for enjoying a little seasonal treat!”
Leo clicked his fingers, “Preach, sister!”
They high-fived. Jason rolled his eyes, “Can I just get my tea, please?”
“Yo! Julie!” Leo turned to his co-worker behind him, “Do we sell any Grandpa Tea?”
“I don’t f&^%*ng know, Leo!” Julie snapped, “Do your own f*&$%^ng job!”
Leo turned back and shrugged.
“I’ll have a look in the back for you,” he said, his tone a little more forgiving. Piper saw him snapped at by Julie a lot, “But find a place to sit and wait. You’re holding up my line.”
Leo then went back to nonchalantly tapping at his register, and Jason went to find an empty table while Piper ordered.
Piper found Jason sat in a booth by the window, mindlessly scrolling on his phone. They talked for a while when something caught their attention in the corner of the room.
A TV hang from the ceiling a few booths over. It was playing a news story. The reporter was talking over visuals of a man in a pinstriped suit shaking hands with someone important. Jason immediately blushed and hid his face. The headline scrolling across the screen read: “Politician Gary Jupiter caught in another Sex Scandal.”
“Great,” Jason muttered, “Hi, dad.”
Piper gave him a sympathetic look. Her dad was a disgraced Hollywood movie star, and her mom won Miss America three years running, she knew all about famous parents. She knew all about scandals and controversy. Her family was hit with bankruptcy a few years ago and mostly disappeared from the public eye, but she still had to avoid paparazzi wherever she went.
“I just wish he didn’t have to globally embarrass himself this often!” Jason groaned, “Although, what does it matter? I’ve only met the guy once, and to be honest he’d probably fathered about half the American public. Me and Thalia was just the product of another of his affairs.”
“That sucks, man,” she consoled.
Jason was about to say something else, but Piper quickly shushed him when she saw Leo walking over with a hot cup of steaming something in his hand.
“I got your tea for you,” he said.
“HE WENT TO THE STORE AND BOUGHT SOME!” Came a shout from behind the counter.
“Shut up, Julie!”
“I HAD TO COVER HIS SHIFT SO HE OWES ME!”
“I know, Julie!”
Jason took a sip, “This tastes different from store-bought tea. Did you do anything to it?”
Leo blushed, “I added a little bit of cinnamon. Sorry, I should’ve probably checked with you beforehand- allergies and stuff. They talked our ear off about it in staff training last week. I can take it back if you like-“
“No! No! It’s delicious, thank you.”
Piper smiled.
“Oh… okay…”
“HE SAYS HE THINKS YOU’RE CUTE AND HE WANTS YOUR NUMBER!”
Leo’s cheeks turned the colour of beetroot. He cringed, “Thank you, Julie!”
Julie flipped him the bird from across the room.
Leo didn’t make eye contact with Jason. “That’ll be 2.25,” he muttered in a small voice. Then, more confident, “She was only joking by the way. She likes to mess my life up like that. Ignore her.”
“Oh…” Jason said, his tone rather disappointed. Piper raised an eyebrow.
Leo looked like he was about to leave, but Piper saw how Jason was glancing at Leo out of the corner of his eye. She knew she had to intervene- get these two talking.
“So, Leo,” she said, “What made you come to work here?”
“Oh! Um…” Leo turned around, “I’m only working here ‘til I can scrape together enough dough to buy my own machine shop.”
Piper smiled, coyly, “Oh really?”
“Yeah…”
Stretching out her leg, Piper hooked her foot around a chair from a nearby table and dragged it over next to the booth. She gestured at Leo to sit in it, “Tell us more.”
She caught Jason’s eye and winked. Jason blushed.
Leo looked nervously back at the counter, “I’m going on break, now, Julie!”
“Whatever!”
Leo sat down.
“Why a machine shop?” Piper asked.
“Well… I grew up with machines. I used to help my mom down at her warehouse before it burned down.”
“So you’re good with machines?”
“Oh, sister,” Leo leaned back in his chair, confidently, “I’m the best there is.”
Piper glanced at Jason.
“Machines,” she mouthed. She pointed at her bicep, “Big muscles.”
“Shut up!” Jason mouthed back.
They talked for a while. After some time, Jason finished his tea and ordered another.
Leo had brought them four more rounds of drinks before Julie snapped at him to get back to work.
“Welp,” Leo patted the table, “I really gotta go. See ya, Piper. See ya, Earl.”
‘My name is Jason!”
“Nah. Your name’s Earl. Earl Grey,” Leo gave him a mischievous smile, “You know it’s a barista’s job to get your name horrifically wrong. It’s part of my contract.”
He turned to leave, but before he could, Jason called to him.
“Wait-“
“…yeah?”
Jason was blushing profusely now, “Did-Did you want my number?”
Leo grinned, looking way too happy about the prospect, “Okay!”
Jason grabbed a napkin and a pen and scribbled it down. Leo took it and bounded back to the counter, grinning.
Jason turned back to Piper, “Thank fuck- drank too much tea and now I really gotta pee.”
Jason stayed in the city for a few more weeks. He met with Piper almost every day at the coffee shop.
Leo would come and talk when Julie let him. It was obvious that he was smitten with Jason, and Jason liked him back. Piper had to repeatedly resist the urge to yell “ugh, just kiss already!” multiple times a day.
It was the day before Jason had to leave, and Piper was getting impatient. She was about to do something drastic, when…
“Hey, Piper! Sorry, I actually can’t stay very long. I’m just here to meet Leo- we have a date!”
“OH MY GODDD!!’ Piper, squealed, bouncing up and down, “Fucking FINALLY!!”
“I just need to wait for him to finish his shift-“
Just then, Leo came out of the store cupboard, dressed in a white shirt and suspenders. He ran his hands through his hair, nervously, then hung his apron on a hook.
“…Hi,” Jason said, his mouth open.
“Hi,” Leo replied, “You ready to go?”
“Uhh… yeah. What do you wanna do?”
“Hmm…” Leo scratched his chin, “How about… coffee?”
Jason giggled and blushed. Leo offered Jason his arm and led him out the door.
“Don’t fuck it up, Jase!” Piper teased after him.
“I’m a professional!” Jason countered.
Piper (8:01pm): Babe it finally happened.
Piper (8:01pm): Leo and Jason have a date!!!
Shel (8:02pm): OH
Shel (8:02pm): MY
Shel (8:02pm): GOD
Shel (8:03pm): FINALLY!!!
Piper (8:04pm): IKR!!!
Shel (8:05pm): Tell. Me. EVERYTHING.
Piper (8:10pm): still wating on a call from jason 2 know how it went
Piper (8:11pm): will keep you updated
At 9:30 in the evening, Jason called.
“Hey, Jase. How did your date with Leo go?”
Jason smiled, shyly over the video call, “He’s… really smart. And cute. And short. But, like, in a cute way. It’s a shame my flight leaves tomorrow.”
“Did… did you tell him you were leaving?”
Jason looked down, ashamed, “No, I didn’t. I probably should’ve, it’s just… things were going so well and I didn’t wanna ruin it. But I should tell him.”
They talked for a while about how the date went. She could tell that Jason was hiding something. She hoped he was planning some big gesture. Shel would eat that story up.
“It’s getting late, I’m gonna sign off,” Piper said eventually, turning over on her back and hovering her finger over the hang up button.
“Okay.”
“If you want, I can drive you to the airport?”
“No, it’s fine…” Jason had a faraway look on his face, “I have some… errands I need to run. I’ll see you around.”
Piper tried not to show that she was grinning ear-to-ear, “Alright then. Bye.”
She hung up.
Piper (10:34pm): jason’s planning something i can tell.
Shel (10:35pm): THE DATE WENT WELL??
Piper (10:35pm): SO well.
Piper (10:35pm): Idk what he’s gonna do but ill be there at the coffee shop tomorrow.
Piper (10:36pm): I wanna watch how this plays out
Shel (10:38pm): omigod lmk how it goes!!!!
Jason:
Jason watched the image of Piper’s face blink off the screen.
He took a deep breath, then dialled a different number.
It rang eight times, then went to voicemail.
“Hey dad…? I need a favour.”
Jason walked up to the counter the next day.
“Well if it isn’t Earl!”
Jason smiled, “Can I get-“
“Coming right up,” Leo cut him off, “Milk, two sugars. I know the drill.”
He set about making brewing the kettle.
“Can I take it to go this time?” Jason asked.
Leo paused, and looked up from his work, “You’re… not sticking around?”
“No, I’ve got a flight to catch. In about an hour.”
“A… a flight?” There was sadness in his voice. He looked like he was about to say something- but just then, the kettle made a loud ping!
“Tea’s ready.” Leo wouldn’t meet Jason’s eyes as he poured the boiling water into the heat-proof cup and added the sugar and milk.
“Did you add-“
“A bit of cinnamon. Yup.”
“Thanks,” Jason took the tea, and turned to leave, then stopped and doubled back. “Oh, I almost forgot-“ he took a deep breath, and pulled a the stack of cash out of his pocket, “Your tip.”
The giant wad was almost too much to fit into one hand.
“Wh-Wha-“ Leo spluttered. He reached out tentatively, but pulled his hand away.
“Here, take it,” Jason waved the cash at him.
“H-how much is that…?”
“Easily enough to put a down-payment on a machine shop. Take it.”
Leo’s mouth hung open in shock, “I… I can’t accept this. For one thing, it’s definitely against company policy-“
“Fine, then. Don’t accept it as a tip, but an investment.”
“An… investment?”
“Yes. From a future customer at your shop,” Jason shoved the wad at him, “Look, man, I’m holding up the line and my tea’s getting cold. Do you want the money or not?”
Leo grabbed the money with trembling hands. “Is this for real?”
“Yeah.”
“B-but you’re leaving.”
“I’ll come back.”
“A-and the money’s legit? You’re not, like, committing tax fraud just to give it to me?”
“No, I’m committing tax fraud anyway.”
“Oh…”
“That was a joke. I just called in a few favours. No big deal.”
“Oh!” Leo grinned, “So…”
“Yeah…”
“Thank you, Jason.”
“Hey!” Jason beamed at him, “You said my name right!”
“Yeah, that’s because I’m not a barista anymore!” He took off his apron and threw it on the ground, then turned to his co-worker, “Hey Julie! Guess what? I f^%$¡ng quit!”
“What-“
“Addios!”
“But-“
Before Julie could stop him, Leo marched out of the front doors, putting up the finger in her direction as he did so.
“YOU STILL NEED TO PUT IN YOUR TWO WEEK’S NOTICE!!” Julie called, but Leo was out the door.
“What are you doing standing there, doofus?”
Someone had stood up on a table at the back. Jason hadn’t noticed them before. They wore a leopard-print trench-coat and heart-shaped sunglasses, but Jason recognised the voice.
“Piper?? What’re you-“
She shed her elaborate disguise, and stared at him, “You’ve got a flight to catch, right?”
“Yeah, but I-“
“So?! Chase after him!”
“But-“
“Kiss him in the rain!”
Jason glanced out the window, “It’s not raining.”
“Doesn’t matter! Just don’t let him get away!”
Jason looked out at the busy high street. Leo, having doffed his barista’s apron was parading down the sidewalk, his head held high. He looked so cute- so unabashedly himself- that Jason swore in that moment that wasn’t gonna let Leo be the one that got away.
“Jason!! What’re you waiting for?” Piper insisted.
Jason turned to her.
“Piper?”
“Yeah?”
“Hold my tea.”
With that, he was out the door and running. Running down the high street. Running after Leo. Jason hadn’t felt this alive since… since he could remember.
“Leo wait-“ Jason yelled.
The former barista turned in shock to see Jason standing, completely out of breath, in front of him.
“I *wheeze* just wanted to *wheeze* say that *wheeze*-“ he spluttered.
Leo chuckled, “What is it?”
“Hold on… lemme catch my breath…” Jason stood with his hands on his knees and breathing hard, “I just wanted to say that… I’d like to go on another date with you.”
“Yeah that was kind of already implied,” Leo said.
“It… it was?”
“Look you’re leaving town- that’ll complicate things, sure. But we’d already established that you’re coming back. I’ve got your number. You could’ve just called me on the plane if you wanted to keep chatting.”
“…yeah.”
“So… what was this gesture meant to accomplish exactly?”
“That I… I like you, I guess?” Jason said, sheepishly.
Leo laughed, “But I thought we’d already established that, too?”
Jason threw up his hands, “I don’t know! I thought it was romantic. There’s always scenes like these in shitty rom coms on TV. Sue me!”
Leo grinned, “Well, it’s very sweet. But also stupid.”
“Okay, well, I just realised that I never got to say goodbye before I left. Yes- that! Good! I’m going with that.”
“Alright then. Goodbye, Jason. I’ll probably text you in the next half hour.”
“Okay then… bye, I guess.”
Leo walked away.
“Well that was awkward.”
“Gah!” Jason nearly jumped out of his skin. Behind him stood Piper, slurping on an iced latte. She had donned her sunglasses and trench-coat again, and had a big grin on her face. “Geez, I thought you were a professional?”
“That was your idea!”
Piper shrugged, “I’m an agent of chaos. Now you better run or you’re gonna miss your flight. Here’s your tea.”
“More running?” Jason groaned, as he took the cup and sprinted off in the direction of the airport.

Technically Valgrace and not Lost Trio, but I thought having Piper narrate and orchestrate most of it would even it out.
I’ve never even read a Coffee Shop AU before, let alone written one- could you tell?
Trying to subvert the stupidest romance tropes by just making it as stupidly awkward as possible. This might be unreadably cringe but hey at least I got something out before the deadline!! (And neglected all my irl responsibilities to do so!!)
Still learning how to write mortal AUs- it’s something I find difficult as someone who struggles with existing in real life anyway. I’m loving that this event is taking me out of my comfort zone and getting me to write in a style I wouldn’t usually write in. I can’t wait to see y’all’s responses when I get back from Hiatus.
Btw, Julie is a reference to Julie Powers from the Scott Pilgrim movie/show/graphic novels (played by Aubrey Plaza). There’s actually a lot of subtle references/homages to my favourite things in this fic.
I hope you enjoyed, and I’ll see y’all tomorrow for the next prompt!!

a love note (and some fics)
Sometimes I wonder if there's really anything bigger out there - the universe, some kind of higher power, fate - and then I think about how extremely lucky I am that I became obsessed with a certain tv show and its characters at just the right time so that I could befriend someone who then introduced me to a particular book at exactly the right time to fall in love with those characters as well. And then, because of my need to have more of those characters, I went looking for more stories about them at exactly the right time to meet a group of people (some of them together, some of them later, but that doesn't matter) who would go on to become my friends.
There must be something, right? To bring together a group of people who live in five to seven different time zones depending on the time of year. To create my safest spaces on the internet. To share not just our love for a book and its characters, but parts of our lives with each other. To have them all wedge themselves into the soft spaces of my heart and never leave.
I've been thinking about this a lot over the last two weeks, because those people conspired and collaborated to gift me a collection of 10 incredible fics for a milestone birthday (tomorrow!) - even though some of them haven't written fic for months and months, or don't write for this fandom at all anymore, or have recently been finding it hard to make words work and finish fics, or are just plain busy with other projects and life. That they took the time to find and make words for me means everything and more 💖💖
I've been absolutely overwhelmed with love these past 10 days (probably to the surprise of no one, I have cried at every single fic drop and I'm crying writing this now). So, I want to share the wonderful fics that they've written for me with you all because it's the least I can do to pay it forward and they're objectively stellar fics. If you haven't come across them already then you should definitely add them to your to read lists/open tabs/MFL. Please show my friends some love and read their work.

Day 2 - Buenos Aires
Ben wakes up at 4:30am but Jack manages to sleep until a more respectable time. First stop of the day is to go to Western Union to collect some Pesos. The money situation here is complex and bizarre but basically because of the high inflation and Argentinians distrust of their own currency they have limits on how many USD they can buy. This has created a black market (called the Blue Dollar) for exchange which charges them a higher rate but works out good for tourists. Rather than doing this and having to bring USD notes we opted for a Western Union transfer which currently gives an even better rate than the Blue Dollar.
Tumblr media
Once we managed to find the store we collect our wads of notes and stash them in our backpack and head off to try and buy a Subte (subway) card. This proves more challenging…the station has run out and we need to get to the city for our 10:30am walking tour. Overhearing our confusion in trying to understand the station staff, a kind stranger helps us out in translation. It turns out we need to walk 4 blocks to another station, and the kind stranger who lives in New York but is originally from Spain is also heading to the same walking tour and needs a card too. So we head off with our new amigo on a mission to find one of these elusive cards. 20 minutes and multiple enquiries later and having paid more than we should have we are finally proud owners of a Sube card.
We make it to the start of the tour Teatro Colón - a very impressive building. This is more the Buenos Aires I was expecting. Our excellent guide takes us on a three hour walking tour of the Recoleta and Retiro areas…some of the wealthiest areas of the city that were developed during the early 1900s. The architecture continued to impress with all of the palaces from wealth aristocratic families lining the streets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have a 90min stop for lunch before our second walking tour this arvo - perfect for a long lunch we think. There is a restaurant near to the end of our tour that was recommended to us so we head there. We opt for the set menu lunch - red wine, empanadas, a spring salad, coffee and ice cream.
Tumblr media
After an hour we realise that 90mins is not that long to get through all of that and we rush down as much ice cream as we can fit before dashing for a bus. Everything in BA seems quite spread out and taking the Subte isn’t usually the quickest method. We wouldn’t normally opt for a bus but it’s apparently quicker than an Uber, the traffic is heavy and there is a protest near the end of the trip against privatisation of the biggest bank. Whilst it seems quite big it’s nowhere near as big as the one a few days earlier related to cuts to public education that drew 500k people onto the streets. We end up being 10mins late but they haven’t started yet.
Tumblr media
The afternoon tour is quite different to the morning tour - it starts at Congress and covers Palacio Barolo, Evita, the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo (who bravely protested against the military dictatorship to find answers on their missing children), the Argentinian economy & political situation and ended up at Casa Rosada (Pink Government House).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lots of steps later and still jet lagged so we needed a nap to be able to make it to dinner at a respectable time in Argentina.
We head out for dinner in Palermo at 9pm and have our first steak. It’s easily one of the best steaks I’ve had. It comes with egg, provolone cheese, potatoes and other fried veggies and a salad. All washed down with a bottle of Malbec. Not the healthiest dinner but delicious! We go to pay the bill but I’ve realised that I brought $10,000 instead of $100,000 so onto the credit card it goes - oops.
Tumblr media
Next we head to a bar where we bumped into a guy from our afternoon tour - another New Yorker! After chatting for a while we don’t get back home until 1:30am 😴😴😴

Week 5: Cafe Culture & Solo Trip to Germany!
¡Hola amigos!
It’s week 5 in Madrid and I’m really feeling adjusted to the city. Next week is UMich spring break and a bunch of my friends are visiting and I can’t wait to see them! The only issue is that I have three exams the week they’re here, so I’m trying really hard to maximize my time with them while passing my classes. With that, I’ve been trying really hard to lock in and get a ton of studying done, but it’s rather difficult when you’re in the middle of Spain and everyone is out having fun. Exams are not my strong suit and they’re the majority of your grade here, so wish me luck. Thankfully I’m pass/fail so I need a 50 in all of my classes, but two of them are rather difficult so I’m extremely stressed.
Finding somewhere to study (cafes)
I personally don’t love studying on campus because of how far away it is. It’s a 40-60 minute commute, and I prefer not to stay after class so I’m not taking the train late at night. Studying at my apartment is alright, but I get so easily distracted by my phone, bed, or 10 roommates.
Because of this, I’ve been on the hunt for a place to study in the city. The first thing that came to mind was cafes, since that’s a pretty common thing to do at UMich. However, a lot of the cafes here don’t let you bring laptops to keep a more social vibe, since that’s typically how Spaniards use them. There are very few that do allow you to do work, and some have associated fees like a base payment or ordering something every hour, which I learned the hard way. This past week I went to Osom Coffee, and was charged 12€ to sit there. You can order anything on the menu within that, but I thought I could get away with just a 2€ coffee. Hurt my wallet, but I suppose the matcha and carrot cake were pretty good. I also went to La Bicicleta and managed to sneak in without buying anything, but that probably won’t work everytime. My goal is to find a good list of cafes or general study spots, and I’ll be sure to share once I figure it out.
Tumblr media
Solo trip to Germany!
As much as I complain about not being able to study, I still went on a trip. This weekend I took a solo trip to Bavaria, Germany, and it was an amazing experience! I wanted to go on at least a few solo trips while abroad, and I’m so glad I got to do it!
I started at Munich International, and immediately took a train and two buses to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. It was an extremely heavy experience to see it in person, but I think seeing every historical aspect when you travel is very important.
From there, I made my way back to Munich, checked into my hostel, and immediately began exploring! I pre mapped my route on Google Maps which made it a lot easier. I was able to see the Munich Residez and Hofgarten (not great in Winter), Frauenkirche cathedral, Asamkirche church (so beautiful), Marienplatz plaza with the Glockenspiel and a piano show, and the Viktualienmarkt where I tried a giant sweet and sour pickle. I also tried a Rischart chive pretzel (HIGHLY recommended) and got some goodies from the Haribo store. A few friends were also in Munich for the weekend, so we met up for Mexican food and went to the famous Hofrauhaus for beer and pretzels. Supposedly many famous figures like Mozart have attended, but I personally thought it was way more expensive than it needed to be. I tried beer with lemonade which was actually pretty good, and a giant pretzel that I wish was warm but I guess that’s just an American thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next day I went to Fussen, a small town in the Alps. One of my bucket list items was to see the Neuschwanstein Castle, which was actually the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disney. I once again hopped on a train and two buses and made the three hour journey there. I didn’t really plan this one out beforehand, but luckily I made it and all was well. I ended up forgetting my AirPods which I was pretty upset about, but I’m so glad it happened because the drive through the mountains was gorgeous, and I was much more present.
Tumblr media
Once there, I paid 20€ for a guided tour of the inside of the castle. It was super pretty, but only like ⅕ of the castle is actually finished because the King was murdered, so maybe not worth that price. They also didn’t allow photography which was a little disappointing.  It was a 20 minute hike up and down the mountain to see the castle, which wasn’t too bad and was rather scenic. There are also buses and horse carriages, but it didn't seem worth the money imo. I also visited the Marienbrucke for gorgeous views of the castle and mountains. To end the excursion, I stopped at a little cafe outside the castle and tried apple strudel with vanilla sauce (a huge step up from Pillsbury toaster strudel). I was a big fan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Transportation in Munich was a little confusing at first, but overall easy to figure out. I feel extremely guilty because only 2/6 buses charged me for the ride, and I definitely hopped on some trains for free because there were no checkpoints. I did some research, and I guess it’s just an honest thing and there are random checks, but I promise I paid for the really obvious ones. It felt a little sketchy being a solo female traveler in a new country in an extremely rural area, but as long as you’re aware of your surroundings all is well.
Going on a 2-day solo trip wasn’t life changing or anything, but I’m glad I got the confidence to travel alone, eat at a restaurant alone, and just enjoy my own company. I definitely feel a lot more independent now and just generally more confident in my abilities. I highly recommend that anyone that studies abroad go on at least one solo trip because it’s honestly a lot more fun than you’d think. I’m pretty booked out for trips for the next few months, but I’m hoping to squeeze in another solo trip in May.
With that, I just got home and now it’s time to actually lock in and hope and pray I pass my exams.
Hasta luego,

How Much is a Vape? Unraveling the Mystery with a Dash of Humor
Imagine stepping into a store where everything's a gadget from a sci-fi movie—some are sleek and flashy like a spaceship, while others seem more like they were cobbled together in someone’s garage. Welcome to the world of vaping, where the variety and complexity of devices can make you feel like you’ve just walked into a tech convention crossed with a fashion show. Choosing a vape can sometimes feel like selecting a drink at a bar where the menu is in Klingon. But fear not! Whether you're about to embark on your vaping journey or just looking to upgrade your setup without dipping into your vacation fund, this guide is here to demystify what that shiny new gadget is going to cost you. Let’s light up the facts (figuratively speaking, of course) and puff our way through the economics of vaping. The Basics of Vaping Technology First things first: What exactly is a vape? In the simplest terms, a vape device is a peace treaty between technology and your nicotine cravings (or flavor cravings for the non-nicotine crowd). At its heart, any vape comprises three amigos: the battery, the atomizer, and the e-liquid. The battery is your fuel tank, the atomizer is the engine, and the e-liquid is, well, the flavorful cargo. Back in the day, vaping started with those cig-a-likes at gas stations, but now we’ve got more types of devices than flavors of soda. From small, discreet pens to big, cloud-chucking mods, vaping technology has evolved faster than your smartphone’s obsolescence cycle. If you think the jump from flip phones to smartphones was something, the vape evolution is kind of like going from a pager to an iPhone overnight. Types of Vapes and Their Cost Speaking of variety, let's break down the main contenders: 1. Disposable Vapes: These are the instant noodles of the vape world—cheap, convenient, and perfect for the commitment-phobic. Typically, they’ll run you anywhere from $5 to $20. Ideal for parties or trying out vaping without committing to a relationship. 2. Vape Pens: A step up in both commitment and price. These handy devices are sleek, straightforward, and can cost you about $20 to $50. They’re like having a dependable car that doesn’t need much but occasionally asks for gas. 3. Mods: Here’s where things get serious. Mods are customizable, powerful, and not afraid to show it. Prices can vary wildly from $30 to over $100, depending on how much horsepower you want under the hood. It’s the sports car of the vape world. 4. Pod Systems: The clever middle-ground between pens and mods. Pods are user-friendly with a bit more oomph than your average pen. Expect to spend about $20 to $50, which isn’t bad for getting the best of both worlds. Each type has its quirks. Disposables might leave you hanging during a vape shortage, while mods might need more upkeep than a needy Tamagotchi. But whatever your choice, there’s a price tag attached that reflects its features and flexibility. Factors Influencing the Cost of Vapes Not all vapes are created equal, and neither are their price tags. Several factors can jack up the cost: Quality of Materials: Plastic or titanium? The choice of materials can either save you a lot of money or add a zero to your bill. Brand Reputation: Just like sneakers, sometimes you pay for the name. The vape world has its own Nikes and Adidas, and prestige can cost you. Tech Features: Some vapes come with apps, touchscreen controls, and even voice recognition. It's like choosing between a basic phone or the latest flagship. Adding these features can turn your vape from a bicycle into a motorcycle in terms of price. Just remember, the more bells and whistles, the bigger the dent in your wallet. Maintenance and Ongoing Costs Buying a vape isn’t a one-and-done deal. Like owning a car, there are running costs. E-liquids are your fuel, and coils are akin to oil changes. Regularly buying juice can cost you about $10 to $30 a month, and coils can add an extra $5 to $20, depending on how often you vape. Here’s a fun fact: maintaining a vape can be cheaper than other hobbies. It’s definitely less expensive than, say, golf, where you not only buy clubs but also pay for every round. And unlike golf, you won’t lose your vape in a lake (hopefully). Watch the video below. https://youtu.be/Ik2GYPGx3f4 Where to Buy Vapes: Finding the Best Deals Navigating the bustling market of vape shops and online stores can feel like trying to find a quiet spot at a rock concert. Whether you're a seasoned vaper or a curious newcomer, knowing where to shop and what to watch out for can save you from buyer's remorse and ensure your vaping journey is as smooth as a well-oiled atomizer. Local Vape Shops: Starting with the brick-and-mortar route, local vape shops offer a hands-on experience that online shopping just can't match. Here, you can get face-to-face advice from vaping veterans, test flavors, and even get a tutorial on how to maintain your device. The catch? Prices at physical stores can be higher due to overhead costs. But, if you value service and instant gratification, paying a few extra dollars might be worth it. Online Retailers: For those who prefer shopping in their pajamas, online vape stores are a treasure trove of options. Not only can you find almost every type of vape product under the sun, but prices are often lower than in physical stores. The key to winning at the online game is to verify the authenticity of products (watch out for counterfeits!) and to check customer reviews. Sites like DirectVapor, VaporDNA, and MyVaporStore are popular for their wide selections and reputable service. Deals and Discounts: Whether you're browsing online or walking into a shop, keeping an eye out for sales and promotions can lead to substantial savings. Signing up for newsletters can give you an edge with access to exclusive deals and first dibs on new products. Also, consider buying in bulk, especially for e-liquids, as many retailers offer discounts on larger purchases. Conclusion Navigating the vibrant and varied world of vaping doesn't have to be as mysterious as a foggy night in Vape Town. Starting with a basic understanding of the technology behind vapes—comprising the battery, atomizer, and e-liquid—we explored the landscape where these devices evolve from simple tools to sophisticated gadgets. How much is a Vape? We then categorized vapes into disposables, pens, mods, and pods, highlighting how each carries its own price tag influenced by factors like material quality, brand prestige, and tech features. We also discussed the ongoing costs associated with maintenance, such as e-liquids and parts, which are vital for keeping your vape in top shape. When it comes to purchasing, we learned that whether you choose to visit local shops for immediate satisfaction and expert advice or hunt for bargains online, being vigilant about deals and wary of too-good-to-be-true offers is crucial. By understanding these aspects, you're better prepared to make informed decisions, ensuring your vaping experience is both enjoyable and cost-effective. Three Caballeros' Vegetarian Burritos
(Disney Recipes: From Animation to Inspiration)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Page 1
"In the famed movie 'The Three Caballeros' (1945), Donald Duck heads south of the border to sunny Mexico with pals Jose Carioca and Panchito. Wearing their enormous sombreros, the three lovable 'amigos' take off on a magical 'flying serape' to discover the traditions and customs of this extraordinary land - with lots of snappy local music in the background. As the wacky threesome's euphoria tends to be contagious, perhaps you'd like to undertake a Mexican exploration of your own. The traditional burrito is as colorful and spicy as Donald and his friends - perhaps a little too spicy for some, in which case all you need to do is cut down on the amount of jalapeno pepper used."
"Here, amigos. Donald! Jose! Ha, ha, ha! Caramba! Now we are three caballeros! Yaaaa!"
Pages 2 - 3
HOW TO MAKE IT
4 Servings
1 1/4 Hours Preparation Time
INGREDIENTS
SALSA
6 small - Roma tomatoes, seeded, finely diced
1/2 small - onion, finely chopped
1 - jalapeno, finely diced
2 tablespoons - chopped cilantro
1/2 teaspoon - salt
GUACAMOLE
1 - avocado, peeled, seeded, mashed
juice of 1/2 lime
1/4 teaspoon - salt
1/2 small - onion, finely diced
1 small - Roma tomato, seeded and diced
BURRITOS
1/4 cup - olive oil
1/2 clove - garlic
1 pound - pinto beans
6 ounces - cooked white rice
1/4 bunch - cilantro, chopped
juice of 2 limes
1/2 - jalapeno, finely diced
1/2 - red bell pepper, julienned
1/2 - green bell pepper, julienned
1/2 - medium onion, peeled, julienned
4 - flour tortillas
2 ounces - cheddar cheese, shredded
2 ounces - sour cream
SALSA
Finely dice tomatoes and add to chopped onion, jalapeno, cilantro, and salt. Refrigerate until needed.
GUACAMOLE
Combine avocado, lime juice, salt, diced onion, and tomato. Refrigerate until needed.
BURRITO FILLING
Heat 1 teaspoon olive oil in a nonstick pan, and saute garlic until fragrant, 1-2 minutes. Mash cooked pinto beans, then add to sauteing garlic, continuing to mash with a wooden spoon. Cook for several minutes, then remove and keep warm.
Combine cooked white rice, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and finely diced jalapeno, and keep warm. In a nonstick pan, heat remaining amount of olive oil, and saute both bell peppers and onion on high heat until just wilted.
ASSEMBLY
Heat flour tortillas in a microwave under a damp tea towel until hot, 1-2 minutes. Place tortillas on work surface and divide rice mixture among them, placing it at bottom third of each tortilla.
Next add refried beans, then the sauteed vegetables. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and begin rolling up from the bottom; then fold in the sides and place on plate, seam side down.
Return to microwave for about 1 minute to melt cheese. Top with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa
MENU IDEAS
Serve burritos with chips and salsa, cups of "Saludos Amigos' Gazpacho" and slices of watermelon for dessert.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Wrap burritos in foil, the way they're served at any favorite taqueria, and enjoy them outside on a nice day. Also, try some sodas imported from Mexico for a different taste treat.
VARIATIONS
Feel free to use different sauteed mixed vegetables and different varieties of beans. For those of you who desire maximum heat, use canned chipotle chilies in adobo, but be sure to have a fire extinguisher ready!

Also I just noticed this but in the end of the Menu, all the guests do one small act of kindness before they officially kick the bucket.
the "three amigos" decide to split the bill together one last time instead of just offloading it onto one of them.
Tumblr media
The reporter for the magazine decides to still pay for the critics tab even though he's about to die. She was going to pay for it herself, but he still insisted despite that. He was also the only man in this entire movie who was still loyal to his partner even in the end T_T good for reporter man here <3
Tumblr media
the wife and husband decide to pay together as well despite everything that's happened between them.
Tumblr media
the "failed actor" decides to pay for both him and his date despite everything that happened between them as well
Tumblr media
and lastly, Margot paid 10 bucks for her cheeseburger, and then let them keep the change!

Anyway I'd like more of a viewing menu than just the don't be racist advisory and Tony Bourdain rolemodeling how to not be racist
So let's investigate my potentials, brb
Pans labyrinth occurred because it's Guillermo and I love the imagery and the more or less antifash message , but it's set in Europe and I dunno, feels kind of off-assignment . Great vibe tho, looking for similar but also some perky stuff....the three amigos? Not rly familiar. Gonna look into it. There's apocalypto but y'know, Mel Gibson project plus soooo grimdark which sure but it's mostly about internal conflict like the point is colonization just changed the factions not the level of violence
More futurism plz ....that animated series cities of gold would be good for like, nostalgia party types or actual kids
Road to El Dorado ....exists for sure and is fun
Emperor's New groove and sweatbox seem a natural combo for me since, I could use a yearly excuse to rewatch them
I feel like people can assemble their own sando here if they just want to watch crime guy movies and drink shitty corporate lager all day
There's like, good music and fun atmosphere to be had, it's a holiday, there's functions
Maybe next year I'll do an import cerveza flight type deal and make weird fusion sushi or something......rice and beans but will it nigiri....maybe get tacos for takeout too lol, but I still need to figure out the stayhome playlist....what's on the screen, what are we listening to (obviously gasolina has to play every hour on the hour).... I make a mean guac and there's vegan chicharrones that imo pair better with the guac than the real deal because they don't fight it fat-for-fat and cancel it out like a sumo stalemate
youtube
I'm I guess prewriting an article about why I always go to a place I assume to be somehow financially tied to Latin America on Cinco de Mayo, or at least insist on eating tacos....and this video kind of perfectly expands on everything I would be gesturing at by bringing up arrested development (or advocating a tradition of watching the quattro de mayo episode or a bunch of old Tony-Bourdain-goes-to-Mexico-for-some-tv-show episodes before deciding whether to get white-wasted at the function...like the point here isn't to be destructive or disrespectful, it's not that kind of holiday sport! Passing out drunk is fine enough but try to stay upright for what seems like a cute enough jag, yeah?)
Like he full out mentions, "people celebrate Cinco in Vancouver and Toronto"
This was 12 years ago
So like, what is this holiday; I didn't make it up, it just exists as it does North of mexico in this weird unknown-origin way (going off the video scholar guy) and defining it is in pretty much any celebrants hands, so I thiiiiink it seems reasonable to say that the point is, mexico/Latin America generally, is great (and from my pov there's a lot of baked in pro-indigeneity since that's heavily where the cultural elements people turn to to celebrate come from)
So maybe we can essentialize it to, "mesoamerica is dank and fuck the haters"
My gf says Corona is a bad way to celebrate ("drinko de mayo" as per the video) because they're like fijiwater, they just have a bottling plant there because it's a cheap place to monopolize a reservoir, and that's bad for locals in general
Modelos tho, Latin specialty stores and restaurants....these things should def have their bump day
And I think we could get something going where it's a given that it's a spring break festival week, where we're going from May day / beltane, to May the fourth, to Cinco(/revenge of the fifth for dedicated star wars celebrants...obv fusing the holidays is ideal in that case but I'm more into focusing on cinco)
Anyway did a beer company invent Cinco, the way hallmark invented (" ") valentines, or is it a grassroots cultural appreciation holiday? Well it's the latter now, suckers, way to market yourselves out of the picture

2021-10-04
Tumblr media
The weekend was super nice. On Saturday I first cooked a fine autumn menu. In the evening, Estela and I went to the movies for the first time in more than a year. That was also a good feeling. After such a long time to be out again with many people in the cinema and without masks around us.
Sunday started early in the morning with beautiful colors in the sky, but they also announced a change in the weather. Sunday was still dry and warm, but announced with its play of colors the bad weather that reached us during the night.
I met up with my FC Zurich friends early in the morning for the anniversary event, and I must admit to my shame that by late afternoon I had indulged in beer consumption for the first time since starting chemotherapy. Over the hours about 1 liter came together. FCZ then fulfilled our expectations with a spectacular 6:2 victory over FC Sion. The fact that Union Berlin also won its game afterwards rounded off the weekend perfectly.
A side effect of cancer is that I get a lot of medical knowledge along the way. For some time now, I have had problems with my eyes itching and tearing. This leads to strained looking during the day. This in turn leads to headaches in extreme cases. It is also annoying that this starts early in the morning after getting up.
Mrs. Jermann, the oncologist, recommended that I make an appointment with the ophthalmologist to clarify this. I had the appointment today. Mrs. Hess first examined all possible parameters in the eye, which were perfect throughout. So it is not a basic problem with the eyes.
She then clarified the possible side effects of the chemotherapy based on the cytostatic drugs used and the immunotherapy. Dry eyes are a possible side effect. What's exciting about this is that dry eyes lead to increased tear flow, which is exactly what happens to me. Tears are made up of three layers.
- The lowest mucous (slimy) layer coats the cornea in a reticular pattern and lowers the surface tension, which serves to wet the epithelial cell membranes with the tear fluid.
- The middle, aqueous layer is the actual tears. It contains water-soluble substances and proteins.
- The third and uppermost layer is a lipid (fat-containing) layer. It originates from the Meibom-Gland and serves to slow the evaporation of the aqueous layer. This layer is brought to the surface of the eye by blinking.
Now, if too little of the third layer enters the eye, it will cause exactly evaporation. This increases the tear flow due to gravity, i.e. the aqueous layer is not covered enough by the lipid layer and it drips.
Mrs. Hess also explained to me that especially working at a computer screen and permanently looking at the smartphone intensifies this process. This is because these activities increase concentration and reduce blinking.
I assume that due to frequent the home office and the smaller screen, this concentration is even increased. The cell phone and tablet are not without either. She has now given me two harmless supportive medications. I hope this works. The increase would be a drug with chemical substances.

Hoy he tenido la cita.

Flirting can drive you crazy 🌿
@remainingtouch said: hey!! i wanted to request an arón imagine ((: maybe one where you two have been flirty with eachother for a while but are both too scared to admit anything but then you finally have your first kiss?? 🥺🥺 i love what you write!
a/n: I hope it’s alright. It took me like ages to finish it and I wasn’t feeling alright today so that’s it for now. But I’ll try and write some more tomorrow. Enjoy 🌿 word count: 2.730

Arón Piper x reader🌿
You met Omar in your first year of high school. He was in the same class as your best friend back then. As the first year flew by, you tear apart from your best friend, being magnetized by all the brightness Omar emanates around him. You immediately became inseparable and, in fact, he was your first boyfriend. Nothing much happened between the two of you, maybe it would have if your family wouldn’t have been forced to move in England due to your father’s job. You haven’t talked or seen him, until one day you were walking down the street and saw a promo for some spanish Netflix series. You had to stare at that photo for minutes to realise is him. You were used to him smiling, all the photos you have together, he’s only a smile, a very dynamic person. It was strange to see him frowning, with a serious, angry expression. You realised then his dream came true and you broke your promise that you will be his date to the premiere of his first important role. He has changed in better and you no doubt what a talented actor he is. You weren’t a fan of tv series and that Netflix thing you considered useless, but you immediately created an account and binged first season in one night. You searched for his number, but you realised you lost it a long time ago. So shame of you.
You were in Madrid for a week already and you just walked and visited all your favourite places. There aren’t many changes, but the city has developed so beautiful. You passed by the place where you had your first kiss with Omar and soon enough you were in front of the building he used to live. Used to live? Maybe he still lives there and you thought, why not, go and check. What could even go wrong?
As you reached the front door you realised his last name was stil on the mailbox. Your heart climb due to the excitement in your throath and you could even hear it beating. Your palms where so sweaty that you had to press the bell three times to ring properly.
“¡Tener paciencia, ya voy!” you heard a voice behind the door and bit your bottom lip, trying to hold a stupid smile.
“Sabes que no tengo paciencia.” you responded as the door opened and you can clearly seen the hansome man.
You both stared at each other maybe for too long, but you couldn’t say anything. How much time has passed? Almost five years have leacked without knowing anything about him. You had taken your time and stared at each other while from inside, curious eyes were searching the two of you. You could recognise those people, Polo, Ander, Guzmán, Nadia, Lu, this guy you didn’t remembered his name and Carla.
“¡Joder!” he was in shock. Maybe it was a bad idea to show up at his door so suddently.
“What, little star? You forgot your first girfriend?” you laughed at him as on his face started to grow an imense smile. That’s the Omar you knew and missed so much.
“You came back!” he exclaimed, opening his arms.
“And you waited!” as you jumped in his arms and welcomed his tight hug, you made eye contact with the actor that plays Ander. Joder, these people are looking even hotter in real life, starting with Omar and finishing with thig guy.
Omar invited you in and while he clossed the door, you searched the room and you found that he still has the photo with the two of you from the concert of your favourite band. Everyone was looking strangely at you until someone breake the silence.
“I tought we were supposed to be just us.” the blonde guy with a lot of freckles on his face spoke first.
“I could go and come back later if you want.” you responded, but Omar moved his hand and reduced you to silence.
“This is (y/n) and is the best friend I could ever ask for.” he smiled and everyone was looking at you, but you were hipnotised only by the curly headed one, with the brown sweet eyes and a “bad ass” expression. “And you, señorita, have the chance to meet in person the most important cast of Élite.” he was joking, of course, but presented you to everyone and you kissed cheeks with them.
“We were about to watch the second season of Élite. Wanna join? After that you could stay the night and tell me everything.” Omar rubbed your back then sat on the floor, in front of the couch. You sat beside him, and rested your head on his shoulder.
Two episodes later, you were so caught in the action that you didn’t realised your position. At some point Arón parted his legs and set a pillow between them so you could rest your head. Omar looked suspiciously at you, but why would he? He raised his eyebrow at Arón before he walked to the window and lighted a cigarette. Well you knew he was smoking in the series, but not in real life. You must admit, he looks damn hot while doing that.
“What? I saved your puta hombro! I couldn’t see properly because of her head!” you laughed at his words and stretched a little. That floor was uncomfortable.
“¡Joder! Amigos, I have a photoshoot in half an hour! I gotta go!” Miguel announced as he grabbed his stuff and ran out the door.
Danna had to leave as well because she has a date with Jorge, the one that plays Valerio. Mina, Ester and Álvaro founded excuses to leave and Iztan left after the first episode.
Just you, Omar and Arón remained and opened a bottle of wine to the all the good and the bad times you’ve been through, but without each other.
“So, England, huh? Very strange people those britains.” Arón smiled before he took a sip from the red vine.
“They are, indeed! I couldn’t stand them anymore. I dropped Oxford and came back home!” you proudly answered the unspoken question.
“You dropped Oxford?” Omar asked you, visibly shocked. “That was your dream!”
“Are you nuts or something?” Arón asked then turned to Omar “¿Está loca?”
“I’m not crazy, thank you very much. But I’m home sick, alright? Even though I had my parents there, I couldn’t fit in. My heart was in Spain and I just couldn’t leave all my life here like it never happened.”
“Speaking of, you remember that bar you liked very much but closed after the end of the ninth grade?” you nodded. “It opened a few months ago and it’s magnificent!” you missed that apartament, you missed the round table, you missed the urban agglomeration and hearing Omar speaking spanish. Right now it felt like heaven.
“We should totally go there, like the old times!” you used to go there every day, eat a lot of fried potatoes and talk for hours about everything and nothing actually.
“Totally. Also, there’s a new coffee shop that I think you would adore. She’s an coffee addict.” Omar informed Arón laughing.
“Where is it?” your eyes shined. You indeed liked coffee very much.
“I can actually show you. Are you free tomorrow?” the voice came from Arón and it was unexpected.
“Are you asking me out?” you had a devilish smile on your face.
“For God sake, you women! No, don’t get too excited. I’ll get you to drink the best coffee of your life! This place beats Starbucks’ ass so bad!” he seemd into this subject, maybe you had some things in common.
----------
As you established, the next day at noon Arón was there waiting for you. You stared too many minutes inside your closet, nothing seemd suitable for this date. Is it a date? Well, the other day you definetly flirted with each other. Omar told you he never saw Arón this way. You could say he’s an introvert, and a little shy, but did a brave move. When you finally picked a blue flourished dress, was already three minutes after the hour you decided to left home and get there in time. And because you put make up on and erased it two times made thirty minutes fly away. So when you left, you were already 5 minutes late.
“I’m so sorry I’m late, I overslept!” you lied, of course. You didn’t want him to believe you get over your head because of this meeting.
“For a moment I thought you won’t show up.” he let the smoke come out from him moth as he extinguished his cigarette. You found him standing at a table outside, scrolling through his phone. He was wearing something simple, a t-shirt and some blue jeans, but he managed to look incredible. Even God love’s what is beautiful. You could tell this man is kissed by the Aphrodite, the Goddess of beauty herself.   ”All these insecurities are from that german blood? Because I know something about spanish people, we are damn confident! And people of word!” you sat down afront him and let your phone on the table.
“Someone did some research, I see.” in fact you did some research and stalked him on Instagram.
“How could I not? You are a hard to forget type! Anyway I couldn’t find much about you, only unnecessarily basics.” you were honest, because you are trying to gain his trust and friendship.
“I think we are on the same page here. All I know is your name and that you are a damn confident and direct person. Oh, and a woman of word, of course.” The waiter came with your orders and interrupted your conversation, but as he moved around you, clearing the ashtray for Arón, you were looking into the menu considering ordering maybe a muffin. But when you looked up,the waiter was already gone, and Arón was looking at you.
“I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me.” you breake the silence, but never look away from his side.
“In that outfit, who wouldn’t be?” he winked at you.
“So you that’s how you addmit you were staring at me?” you caught his sight while you bit your bottom lip and did’t retire.
“Well, you obviously caught me doing that, but guess what, you were staring too.” his tongue override his lips.  That was true, both of you were staring at eatch other, but how could you not stare at this handsome man? He stretched his back to get you back from your thoughts before he spoke. “There’s a small party saturday at some club in the centre, maybe I’ll see you there. Now, I’m sorry, but I have to go for a shooting.” he grabbed his phone and got up, but before he passed you stopped. You stood up as well and he initiate a hug. You were surprised, but when he whispered “It was nice to see you, beautiful!” you frozed. That was so nice of him, shame of you because you couldn’t say a thing. -------- Saturday you spent almost all day figuring out what you should wear and what kind of party is that. Two days ago you spent with Omar his birthday and had so much fun together. You haven’t told him about Arón’s invitation, however without telling him much about what happened, he still gave you strange looks. So this time you made sure to left the house and get there in time. You knew the club, but you didn’t knew how to find him, thus you find your way through the entrance where you find a man. “Name.” he said warely. You frowned. Was that a joke? Maybe Arón made fun of you and invited you to some party where couldn’t even get passed the door. The anger started to spread into your body along with the cold. Though Spain is a warm country is still spring and the nights are still not warm enough.
“(y/n)” you responded. “Arón Piper knows I’m coming.” you thought the best option was to say the name of someone famous. “I mean, he doesn’t know I’m coming, but he invited me.” you begin to stutter and say nonsenses.  “Sure... wait a minute.” he was suspicious, you can tell. After he came back, he wasn’t alone. Arón followed the man outside and he faced a bright smile at the sight of you.  “You came!” he grabbed your hand and he led you to a table where everyone was looking strangely at you. Just as the first time. The only difference is that you knew their name this time.
“¡Hola!” you smiled at them wile you sat down next to Omar.
“What are you doing here?” he’s doesn’t mean to be rude, but it was a surprise for him to see you there. A good one.
“Arón invited me.” you shrugged.
“Strange, he didn’t mention a thing though. He’s kinda reserved when it comes to private things, like his birthday.” ha looked at you then sip from his cocktail.
“Yeah, he is very reserved.” you mumbled.
The fact that Arón didn’t tell you it was his birthday, made you uncomfortable. You shouldn’t be here. As Omar said, he is very reserved and a birthday party is for family and friends, and you were none of them. You searched the room and found Arón coming towards the table. You stood up quickly and stopped him.
“Why haven’t you told me is your birthday?” you confronted him.
“Well hello, Beautiful. What’s with that frowning?” he ignored your question as he handed you a drink.
“I didn’t get you anything!” you insisted. Well, actually he didn’t need anything from you because he can buys himself more than you could ever thought of. He put his drink and yours on the table then reached for you hand.
“That’s fine because I just need one thing from you.” he made his way towards the dance floor, still holding your hand.
What would he possibly need from you? You had milions of thoughts and questions running through your mind, but he erased them all when he grabbed your waist and urged you to do the same.
“You look very beautiful tonight.” he screamed over the music, before you could tell anything.
“You didn’t look bad yourself!” you smiled at him. Arón was stearing at your lips as you talked. “So what was that thing you needed?”
“Kiss me.” that came out of nowhere, he knew that too.
“What?”
“Kiss me, hermosa!”
You looked him questioning all the posibilities. He’s trying to make fun of you right now? Does he really want that? As you got stuck on your mind, he leaned towards you, but you could tell he’s too afraid to do something. You both stood there in the middle of the dance floor with your foreheads pressed and with eyes closed.
“You know,” he started and you smelled some cigarette mixed with alcohol and mint. It doesn’t smell bad at all. “I am very good at flirting, that’s why I’m so confident doing that,” you couldn’t agree more. You observed that, he’s a cocky guy when it comes to the things that he’s good at, and ¡Joder! he’s good at many things. “But when it comes to kiss a pretty girl, it’s more complicated, you know. I’m afraid not to mess things up.”
He’s talking nonsense. You rubbed you nose to his and made the bravest move you’ve ever done. You pressed your lips to his and smiled. He smiled too and kissed with so much desire, you were shocked. He’s a very sweet person when he’s not wearing that “bad ass” attitude. As you distanced from the kiss, he looked deeply in your eyes.
“I wanted to do that since the day one.” he laughed a little and smiled at you. He admired you on the dance floor long enough then he went for the drinks you abandoned on the table. Arón was the life of the party all night. He danced, he sang and was so happy, that you couldn’t stop smiling. You had the chance to met this amazing man and even kiss him, you were indeed grateful. Omar stood by your side and glanced at you two all night, but he was happy too.

Deep Freeze Windows Xp
Deep Freeze is a system backup and restore software for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS platforms. DFServ.exe runs the Deep Freeze application. This is not an essential Windows process and can be disabled if known to create problems. Deep Freeze Windows XP & Server 2003 End of Support? Microsoft officially ended Windows XP support on April 8, 2014 and Server 2003 support on July 14, 2015. Faronics supported Deep Freeze on XP for an additional 5 years but unfortunately, it is time for us to officially drop support for both XP and Server 2003 operating systems.

Tools needed: Ollydgb to patch the program and run it.
OllyScript to run scripts on Ollydgb.
ASPack 2.12 OEP finder script by hacnho/VCT2k4 to find the OEP.
Process Explorer for 2K/XP to see the login program command line.
DeASPack for AsPack 2.11 to unpack the login program. (for Deep Freeze 3.32.000.0534)
Summary: What we are going to do is to load a new instance of Deep Freeze login program and we’ll change it in such a way that it will accept any password as a valid one.
Let’s get to work: 1. The first thing we are going to do is finding some data we’re going to use later to load our login program instance. To do that load Process Explorer. In this program we can see a list of all the processes our PC is running, among them is the login program called FrzState.exe or FrzState2k.exe. Find this program on the list, expanding the tree if necessary. Once you’ve found it, right click over the program’s name and a menu with options will show up. Select the option ‘Properties’. A window will show up with the process properties.
2. In the properties window you’ll see a property called ‘Command line’. On this box you can see the program’s location, remember that. At the end of the text box there are three numbers that you have to write down to use later. Once you’ve written them down you can close Process Explorer.
Deep Freeze for Windows 2K/XP 3. Now run Ollydbg. Note: Make sure OllyScript is properly installed. There should be a menu called ‘Plugins’ where you’ll find a submenu called ‘OllyScript’. If this menu doesn’t appear in the program, that means you haven’t installed the plugin properly. To install it, go to the menu ‘Options’ and select ‘Appearance’. In the ‘Plugin path’ box write the address where you copied OllyScript files, press OK and restart the program. On the menu ‘File’ select ‘Open’ and look for the login program file (remember that Process Explorer told you where it was). In the ‘Arguments’ box write the three numbers you’ve written down. Now click ‘Open’. If a warning message box shows up press ‘OK’, and if later a message box ask you if you want to continue the code analysis press ‘No’.
4. We have loaded the program, the problem is that it’s protected with Aspack 2.12 and we can’t see the real code. To solve this we’re going to use OllyScript and the ASPack 2.12 OEP finder script. Go to the ‘Plugins’ menu, and then to the ‘OllyScript’ submenu and select ‘Run script’.
5. Look for the script and open it. The script will find the OEP (original entry point). If any window shows up dismiss it. Note: We are now on the OEP. If you are an experienced user you can dump the program using OllyDump to analyze the code with a disassembler.
6. Deep Freeze can be configured to hide the system tray icon (next to the clock). If you can’t see the Deep Freeze icon follow the steps on this Annex and then resume this tutorial.
7. Right click over the code and a context menu will appear, select ‘Go to’ and then ‘Expression’ (or use the shortcut Ctrl+G).
8. In the text box enter the following value according to the Deep Freeze version you have installed and press OK.
Version Value 4.20.020.0598 40368D 4.20.120.0598 40368D 4.20.121.0613 4034F5 5.20.220.1125 4037E9 5.30.120.1181 4037E9
The program will jump to that line of code. 9. This is the line from where the password verification procedure is called. Let’s set a breakpoint here. To do that right click over the line and in the context menu select ‘Breakpoint’ and then ‘Toggle’ (or press F2).
10. We are almost done! Now let’s run this new Deep Freeze login program instance. To do that press F9. If everything went right now you should see two Deep Freeze icons on the system tray next to the clock. If Deep Freeze was configured to hide it (read annex), instead of two icons you’ll see an empty icon. Note: If the icon doesn’t show up is possible that you haven’t written the argument three numbers correctly or that you haven’t opened the right file.
11. Now activate the login program by double clicking over the icon while you keep the shift key pressed. If there are two icons, is important that you click over the new icon and not over the old one. The login window will appear asking for the password. Write anything in the password box and press ENTER. The breakpoint we set earlier in Ollydbg will activate and the login program will freeze. Note: If the breakpoint doesn’t activate is possible that you’ve chosen the wrong icon. Try with the other one.
12. On Ollydbg press F8 to step over the function call. On the registers window (to the right of the code) you’ll see that EAX register has the value 00000000. That means the password is incorrect, let’s change that. Double click over the value of EAX to open the modification window. In the ‘Hexadecimal’ text box write 1 and press OK.
13. Now press F9 to continue. If everything went right the Deep Freeze configuration dialog will show up.
Deep Freeze 5.20.250.1125 and 5.30.150.1181 (Windows 9X): 3. Now we’re going to kill the login program. If you try to close it now you’ll see that the process shows up again on the list. To close it for good we first have to kill the process called MSGSRV32.EXE. Look for this process on the list, then right click over it and select ‘Kill Process’. If a confirmation message appears answer Yes. Next, right click over the process FrzState9X.exe and select ‘Kill Process’ again. Now the login program should be dead. Note: If the icon of Deep Freeze still remains on the system tray next to the clock, hover the mouse cursor over it to make it disappear.
4. Now click ‘Open’. If a warning message box shows up press ‘OK’, and if later a message box ask you if you want to continue the code analysis press ‘No’.
6. Look for the script and open it. The script will find the OEP (original entry point). If any window shows up dismiss it. Note: We are now on the OEP. If you are an experienced user you can dump the program using OllyDump to analyze the code with a disassembler.
7. Right click over the code and a context menu will appear, select ‘Go to’ and then ‘Expression’ (or use the shortcut Ctrl+G).
8. In the text box enter the following value according to the Deep Freeze version you have installed and press OK.
Version Value 5.20.250.1125 408D34 5.30.150.1181 408E08
The program will jump to that line of code.
9. In this line the program decides if the password is correct. Let’s set a breakpoint here. To do that right click over the line and in the context menu select ‘Breakpoint’ and then ‘Toggle’ (or press F2).
10. We are almost done! Now let’s run this new Deep Freeze login program instance. To do that press F9. If Deep Freeze is configured to show the icon, now you’ll see it on the system tray next to the clock.
11. Now activate the login program by double clicking over the icon while you keep the shift key pressed or by pressing CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F6. The login window will appear asking for the password. Write anything in the password box and press ENTER. The breakpoint we set earlier in Ollydbg will activate and the login program will freeze.
12. On the registers window (to the right of the code) you’ll see that the Z flag is set to 1. That means the password is incorrect, let’s change that. Double click over the Z flag value and you’ll see it changes to 0.
13. Now press F9 to continue. If everything went right the Deep Freeze configuration dialog will show up.
Deep Freeze 3.32.000.0534 (Windows 9X): 3. Now we’re going to kill the login program. If you try to close it now you’ll see that the process shows up again on the list. To close it for good we first have to kill the process called MSGSRV32.EXE. Look for this process on the list, then right click over it and select ‘Kill Process’. Note: If the icon of Deep Freeze still remains on the system tray next to the clock, hover the mouse cursor over it to make it disappear.

4. This version of Deep Freeze is protected with Aspack 2.11, so before we can work with the login program we have to unpack the file, and for that we are going to use DeASPack. Run DeASPack and a dialog box will show up and ask you to select a file to unpack. Look for the login program file (remember that Process Explorer told you where it was). Now click ‘Open’. The program will unpack the file and the dialog box will close.
5. Now run Ollydbg. On the menu ‘File’ select ‘Open’ and look for the unpacked file. The file is called out.exe and is in the same folder the login program is. Nex click ‘Open’.
6. When Ollydbg finish analyzing the program, right click over the code and a context menu will appear, select ‘Go to’ and then ‘Expression’ (or use the shortcut Ctrl+G).
7. In the text box enter 417410 and press OK. The program will jump to that line of code.
8. In this line the program decides if the password is correct. Let’s set a breakpoint here. To do that right click over the line and in the context menu select ‘Breakpoint’ and then ‘Toggle’ (or press F2).
9. We are almost done! Now let’s run this new Deep Freeze login program instance. To do that press F9. If Deep Freeze is configured to show the icon, now you’ll see it on the system tray next to the clock.
11. On the registers window (to the right of the code) you’ll see that the Z flag is set to 1. That means the password is incorrect, let’s change that. Double click over the Z flag value and you’ll see it changes to 0.
12. Now press F9 to continue. If everything went right the Deep Freeze configuration dialog will show up.

Vendor Response: ‘Faronics takes the security of our products very seriously and we began working on resolution to the password security issue as soon as we were made aware of it. We are happy to report that the issue was resolved on June 12, 2005 with a new Deep Freeze 5.5 release of the Standard, Professional, and Enterprise versions. In fact, the issue was already resolved before it was posted on the SecuriTeam site. We have already made all of our customers aware that the new version is available. If you are a Deep Freeze customer and have not received notification, you can request an update using the form at: http://www.faronics.com/html/updates.asp

It is important to note that the method described must be used on each workstation individually and the perpetrator would require physical access to the workstation; it will not work over a network.
Deep Freeze Windows Xp Windows 10
It requires an industrious, knowledgeable user who can find, download, and use the utilities that are referred to in the tutorial. Even then, the procedure must be followed to the letter and will not work in all cases. In cases where it does work, the user has essentially fooled Deep Freeze into believing that a correct password has been entered on that one individual workstation. The user could then tell Deep Freeze to boot Thawed and would therefore be able to make a permanent change to that single computer. This has been resolved with the 5.5 release and the method will no longer function.”

Stockholm Week 11-2: Marvelous Days in Barcelona!!!
Barcelona post is finally here!
Let's get started right away, starting with my flight to Barcelona.
3/27 Wed: Park Güell.ᐟ.ᐟ.ᐟ
It was my second 6 am flight and I knew the drills. Night bus, Flygbussarna, airport.
We safely landed in Barcelona and arrived at our hotel to store our luggage before the check-in.
Tumblr media
Our neighborhood was so cute
The first event I scheduled was the guided tour at Park Güell.
On the way up the steep hills, I stopped to get the first gelato in Spain. He let me taste three different flavors before choosing - my pick was Strawberry 🍓
I didn’t know I signed up for hiking—walking up all those stairs made me go out of breath. However, the view from the top of the hill was magnificent.
Birds were greeting us when we finally arrived at the entrance. They were so cute < 3
The guide explained the meanings and purpose behind the structures and architecture. Gaudi’s use of geography and geometry was intricate to the point that it was unreal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I walked around for another hour or so to capture everything before I leave
The guide told us that there is no official documentation of Gaudi, just assumptions formulated around his work. Therefore, the tour gave me a sneak peek into Gaudi’s alleged thoughts and life.
While we waited for our two other friends to arrive in Barcelona, we walked around La Rambla at night. I couldn’t capture it but it was so alive and attractive. I stopped by multiple shops and got postcards for 1 euro each!
After walking to the end of the road, we stopped by the port.
Tumblr media
It would’ve been a cute fountain if a stream of water came out from its mouth
All four of us united for dinner at 10 pm. The paella we ordered was huge -- we were glad that we didn’t order two since it would've taken us hours to finish it.
Tumblr media
Delicious chicken paella!
3/28 Thu: Casa Batlló, Picasso Museum, Shôko
In the morning, we all met up outside of Casa Batlló. As tourists, we didn’t forget to take a billion photos.
Tumblr media
The building looked like it was flowing because of the shapes that were used
We moved on to Sagrada Familia, where my two friends had a tour scheduled. I had my guided tour booked for Saturday, so I stayed outside and took more pictures in front of Sagrada Familia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s scheduled to finish construction by 2034, but that’s if EVERYTHING goes well
While my two friends were busy doing the tour, we went to the beach area and rested there for a bit before heading to try our first menu del dia at the restaurant called Granja Los Amigos. Menu del dia is a cheap Spanish course lunch where you typically get a first meal, a second meal, and a dessert of your choice with drinks on the side. The flan at this place was so good that I scraped the dish after I ate all of it -- and I don’t even like flan/puddings!
Tumblr media
This was 12 euros for me!
Picasso Museum was our next destination. We got in for 7 euros per person (youth price!) and it was totally worth it. Observing thousands of Picasso’s authentic artworks was an experience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did not know but Picasso had a lot of connections with Barcelona: he studied here and met many Spanish artists during his stay. Picasso continuously donated his works to Barcelona!
Afterward, we walked around the vicinity (terrace and cathedrals everywhere) and ate nonstop. Tacos at Rosa Negra (highly recommend), authentic churros, concluding with a drink at night club Shoko. Shoko was located right next to the beach, so we didn’t miss the chance for a walk on the beach too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I spy… Jiwoo edition
3/29 Fri: Barcelona Beach + Sunset at Carmel Bunkers, Razzmatazz
Friday morning started with a restaurant failing us for the first time -- Quimet & Quimet was a tapas place I really wanted to go to, but it was closed when we got there. I fully trusted Google Maps but Google did not know that they were closed during the Easter weekend :(
So we went straight to the beach and ate brunch there. The vibes and the food were both great!
There was a flea market going on along the beach. As a raven that likes shiny things, I could not pass without buying a bracelet and a ring :)
We sat on the beach for a while and proceeded to get drinks to relax even more.
Tumblr media
Yum yum
Even though it was a bit chilly with the wind in late March, Playa de la Barceloneta was packed with people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We could stare at the beach for hours and hours if it wasn’t for the wind trying to freeze us
After absorbing all the sunlight we couldn’t get in Stockholm, we moved on to Bunkers del Carmel. It is a popular spot for sunset and night views of Barcelona. Watching the graceful sunset and gradual illumination by the city lights was something I didn’t know I needed. We were so sad that we couldn’t stay past 7:30 pm (the police kicked everyone out), but we got a glimpse of Barcelona at night as we walked downhill.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bunkers del Carmel is a must-visit place in Barcelona!!! Don’t forget to bring a jacket though! It gets cold at night
The last event of the night was visiting Razzmatazz, but it wasn’t as good as we thought it would be. But the tickets included a free drink, so we took advantage of that :)
Tumblr media
It was so big that we got lost a couple of times - we could go into any room in the two three-story buildings
3/30 Sat: Boqueria Market and Sagrada Familia
And the morning of the highlight of my Barcelona trip has come.
For brunch, we visited Mercado de la Boqueria. They mainly sold fresh fruits, seafood, jamón, and snacks. I tried fresh mango, chocolate-covered strawberries, pastry, empanadas, and octopus (this was the best).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can say for certain that you’ll find at least one thing you like in that market.
I had a guided tour of La Sagrada Familia at 1 pm, so I ran (took the metro) to get there on time. The guide explained everything in and out, from the meaning of the colors to the sculptures. All I can say is that Gaudi was a talented genius who even worked hard for his passions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please please please do the guided tours if you’re visiting La Sagrada Familia! It was definitely worth the price for me
After the tour, I stayed for an hour or so more in the church. I walked around and sat down in the church, constantly getting fascinated by its beauty.
We sat at the beach (again) until we got hungry. We walked around, got some snacks, and stopped by their Airbnb to charge our phones.
For dinner, we went to a restaurant called El Tros de la Rambla. We got two seafood paellas and GOSH it was the BEST meal I’ve had SINCE I CAME TO EUROPE. It was beyond delicious -- they must’ve done something to that cause I would eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if possible. I loved it so much that I decided to leave a review on Google Maps, but Google declined my review because it thought I got incentivized to write a fake review(...)
Tumblr media
It was that good!
Following our successful meal, the last gelato in Spain was successful as well. We arrived at Gianduia, the 4.9-star gelato place, 10 minutes before the closing time but the worker was so nice (•̥̥̥ᴗ•̥̥̥)
Tumblr media
Objectively best gelato place in Spain -- strawberry and yogurt mwah
We sat on the steps of the cathedral, listening to people singing in the alleys, eating our gelato, and taking our time to feel the festive atmosphere of Spain.
3/31 Sun: Barcelona to Malta~~~
I was writing this blog in Stockholm Airport, waiting to get on the plane to Malta.
I woke up early this morning to pack everything and go to the airport. If you’re using Uber in Spain, there is a mandatory 15-minute waiting time before getting assigned to a driver so beware if you’re in a hurry!
Instead of Uber, I used an app called Freenow (usually cheaper than Uber) to travel from and to the airport.
We got through the security check quite quickly: I realized that not having a line for passport checks extremely cuts down the waiting time.
For breakfast, I ate a Caesar salad with a Mango passion fruit chia smoothie at the airport. I didn’t expect them to be good but they were scrumptious!
After the 3.5-hour flight, I arrived at ARN airport in Stockholm. I booked an evening/night flight to Malta, so I just had to wait in the airport for a couple of hours. This was why I brought a backpack and a carry-on. Although my friends made fun of me for bringing so many clothes, I knew I was going to thank myself later in Malta.
I enjoyed Barcelona and speaking rusty Spanish from high school. In the airport, I could sense that I was going to fall in love with Malta as well.
Check out ups and downs of my solo travel in Malta in my next post!

Saludos Amigos' Gazpacho
(Disney Recipes: From Animation to Inspiration)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left Page
"In the Saludos Amigos episode 'Aquarela do Brasil' (1943), Donald Duck meets up with his friend José Carioca for the first time. José is quick to fill the visitor in on the local customs and traditions. In a memorable sequence, the adorable parrot offer unsuspecting Donald a taste of the South American hooch, cachaca, which he downs in a single gulp. Bu have no fear, our gazpacho is a nonalcoholic beverage that won't explode in your stomach and leave you gasping for air like poor Donald. A tribute to the astonishing land of spicy rhythms and tastes where it originated, this refreshing drink makes a super-starter for a summer lunch or a fine dinner appetizer—the perfect way to get your daily dose of vegetables in a bowl. And you won't even need a fork to eat them!"
"Donald! Now you have the spirit of the samba!"

Use any of your favorite fresh and crisp vegetables for a real summer treat. Make this into a hearty entrée by adding cooked shrimp, crab meat, or boneless fish and cold steamed potatoes, for a lovely cool "stew."
MENU IDEAS
Serve this in small cups on a hot day before a platter of "Three Caballeros' Vegetarian Burritos."
WHAT CHILDREN CAN DO
Kids can help to make fun shapes out of the cucumber or peppers to decorate the cups of gazpacho, with parental supervision of course. They can also mix and stir everything.
