Ttrpgs for Palestine: duo edition
Your regular reminder that you can get this incredible bundle of 195 titles for $15 and help kiddos in need in the process!
I wrote a post on some of the solo games in this bundle, but what about duos? Games you can play with a partner, a bestie, or a sibling? I live with just one other person, and ttrpgs are the major thing we bond over. Fortunately, this bundle contains many, many games I look forward to playing together. Below I've spotlighted four five examples of GMless two-player games in this bundle!
A Court Divided by Carlin Wednesday
(Bitter- Dramatic- Magical)
Build a fey domain together through a series of questions, and then break it apart as you play fey monarchs going through a divorce. You must negotiate how your court and assets will be divided between the pair of you. This game can be played in a single session, perfect for an afternoon or evening of dramatic roleplay.
Hearts Unmasked and Hearts Unrivalled by Islanderscaper
(Superheroes- Pining- Lightweight)
Superhero romance? Count me in! Hearts Unmasked is about two heroes trying to balance duty and their feelings for each other, while Hearts Unrivalled is an enemies-to-lovers hero/villain narrative.
The rules for each game fit onto a single page, so they're very quick to learn!
Lovers in the Apocalypse City by Paladin Kite
(Intimate- Intense- Futuristic)
Neon-soaked apocalyptic letter writing for two. I was immediately hooked by this game's gimmick: mailing letters to one another. One player draws a card from a standard deck, finds the relevant prompt on a table, and writes a letter to the other player based on this. Obviously, you can do it without actual letters, but the act of physical letter writing does add something to the experience. As I write, I'm mentally going through friends considering who would most enjoy playing this one with me.
Pale Dot by Devin Decibel
(Enchanting- Exploration- Aliens)
Hoping to play this one tonight! Two (or more!) players travel the cosmos as adorable alien astronauts. There's a good selection of locations with short, evocative descriptions and questions inviting players to further develop them as they explore.

Two ongoing digital games bundles are offering more than 200 tabletop RPGs (among video games, soundtracks, books and other goodies) in order to raise money in support of the Palestine Children’s Relief Funds. The Palestinian Relief Bundle is being hosted on Itch.io, while the separate TTRPGs for Palestine Charity Bundle is taking place on Tiltify. For $8, the Palestinian Relief Bundle is offering nearly 400 total items, 103 of which are tabletop RPG systems, supplements and adventures. Mapmaking game Ex Novo is joined by the paranormal gunslinging satire FIST: Ultra Edition, along with Takuma Okada’s celebrated solo journaling game Alone on a Journey. Weird and dirty iconoclast game about money, the mind and everything else, Greed by Gormenghast is also on this list and is well worth a look. And if you’d rather keep it cosy and introspective, Cassi Mothwin’s Clean Spirit will get the whole group taking care of their domestic homes. The TTRPGs for Palestine Charity Bundle focuses solely on analogue games, providing nearly 200 tabletop games for $15. A full spreadsheet of the included titles can be viewed here and includes Nevyn Holme’s Gun&Slinger, where one player embodies an occult cowboy while the second plays their sentient, magical gun. Wendi Yu’s Here, There, Be Monsters! approaches monster hunting media from the other side of the camera with a decidedly queer lens and unapologetic politics. Makapatag’s Gubat Banwa is a lush and dynamic collision of wuxia media, fiercely romantic and tragic melodrama all set against the backdrop and folklore of The Philippines.

Jes The Human organized this fundraiser with over 160 TTRPG submissions to benefit the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, open through April 30th. I'm in there with my Paragon playset SHOOT THE GIFT, so you can get it, along with all the other games for a donation of $15 or more. Cop it, then tell your friends!

Two playtests in and Middletown's got good bones! Folks are having fun, which is always a relief. There's some tweaking to do vis a vis PC abilities, and I've got a lot to learn about adventure design, but it's all very achievable. That said, I think my production timeline needs to stretch a bit.
I started this project to have it done in time for /jesthehuman's TTRPGs for Palestine bundle. I got to cheat a little while they wrestled with itch, but now that they're running it via tiltify (still accepting submissions, at time of writing), I don't see Middletown making it out the door in time. I've already submitted Loss of Signal and No Sacrifice Without Blood, but this current project will need to wait.
I've got a two week break coming up. Lotta time to polish mechanics and get a preliminary layout together. Things line up right, we may still see Middletown debut with the Itch version of the bundle. Fingers crossed!

PCRF Tiltify Bundle: solo games
I've been checking out the solo games included in this incredible bundle. $15 for over 190 games and game supplements- and all proceeds go to the great cause of helping Palestinian kids in the aftermath of the horrors they've endured.
Early thoughts on three solo games below:
Dwelling by Seb Pines
(Reflective- Horror- Artistic)
As much an exploration of yourself as an exploration of the titular dwelling; a haunted house. The specters your draw present scenes and encourage you to explore the personal memories these bring to the forefront. It's a journalling game, played on scraps of paper and in the rules text itself. My favourite mechanic is that you mark your own body after each encounter to cement your connection to it.
High Above Them All by Damian Oddson
(Whimsical- Flexible- Low-key)
This game has a Ghibli-esque feel to it- the precise vibe I was hungering for this morning! Using a standard deck of playing cards (or a generator like this one), take on the role of a solitary individual floating high above the world and witnessing the splendor below. In the three prompts generated so far; I have saved a unicorn, observed ancient ruins, and speedrun social situations because strangers are scary (what a mood!)
In the Sacred Wood of Monsters by Stuffedtern
(Eerie- Pensive- Unhurried)
Even the introduction is so beautiful, written much like a fairytale. We are told the story of a duke whose beloved wife died, and who in his grief had a marvelous and terrible garden constructed in her memory. Hundreds of years later, this garden is a famous local attraction that the player has decided to visit. chari
The player randomly generates the features of the garden they encounter (using a d6 and a deck of playing cards), and receives impressions and sensations- inspired by the story of this place? Direct reflections of the past? Who can truly say?

I had the opportunity to design and draw the cover for the Gladnis Cookbook Zine (@GladnisCookbook on Twitter) aka The Amicitia-Scientia Family Recipe Book! Getting to draw something food-related for this fandom was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I can finally cross it off the wishlist 💕
The zine is for charity and it is digital only/print-at-home, so the available bundles are very affordable. Preorder are open until June 30th - go have a look!
Obligatory busted link: https:// tiltify . com / @ gladniscookbook / gladniscookbook
Image description: Cookbook cover-styled fan art of Gladio and Ignis from Final Fantasy XV. They are both wearing aprons, and they are standing elbow-to-elbow as they smile at each other. The backdrop includes a giant fork with spaghetti on it and a giant spoon with honey on it. Various ingredients border the picture. The text reads “The Amicitia-Scientia Family Recipe Book. A Gladnis Cookbook Zine.” The zine logo, a stylized Cup Noodle, is included on the cover. The second image is two close-up crops to show their wedding rings. The text reads “Pre-order on Tiltify! Shop link in description.” End ID.

Tome Of Tips: Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition OGL Character Sheet

Dust off your reading spectacles--the Tome of Tips has returned.
Today’s entry is a little different than past chapters. Today, we’re going to be talking about a game system--namely, Dungeons & Dragons: 5th Edition. Maybe you’ve heard of it! 5th Edition is the most popular system on Roll20 by far, and it’s played in a variety of ways.
And there’s no wrong way to play. Whatever your flavor of D&D is, we think it’s awesome because it’s yours. What we’re here to do today is tell you about some features of the D&D 5E character sheet that you might not know about--features that could help you better play the game your way. Are you getting the most out of your games? Do you know everything Roll20 has to offer your 5th Edition playgroup? Read on to find out!
Use the Dungeons & Dragons: 5th Edition Character Sheet to…
Click the bubble icon on abilities and spells to send their description to the chat
We’ll start with a simple one that just might save you and your playgroup a bundle of time.
Did you know you can click the word bubble icon next to abilities and spells to send their descriptions to the chat? Save your DM the trouble of paging through the compendium in a separate tab and share the details of your spell’s effect with the party with just a single click.
Here are some details about spell descriptions you might not know: In the D&D 5E sheet, there are actually two types of spell outputs. Spellcards don’t roll damage or show the Difficulty Class (or DC) needed to save from that spell. Attacks roll damage and display DCs, but they don’t show any description--at least not by default. To change that, just jump into the settings menu for a spell by clicking the cog here.
Scroll down the settings and toggle the INCLUDE SPELL DESCRIPTION IN ATTACK field to On.
Presto! Further, if you’d like to change the description of the spell--to shorten it, add in some signature details about your character’s spellcasting, or what-have-you--the text box just below this field in the Settings menu is, in fact, editable.
The results, in chat:
Add various modifiers to an item for easy-to-build Magic Items and more
The MODS field on items is often overlooked, but it could save a shrewd DM some time when crafting magic items on-the-fly.
MODS is a text field that accepts various AC or magic bonuses that will then figure into that item’s calculations automatically. For example, you could give a chestplate AC +1 to make sure that any character equipped with that item gets a +1 bonus to their armor class.
The MODS field, then, is perfect for creating magic items quickly. You can set a modification for: -Armor Class -Attacks (For Items that have an Item Type including the word “weapon”) -Attack Modifier -Damage (and Damage Type) -Secondary Damage (and Secondary Damage Type) -Range
-Spells (Including spell attack and spell DC)
-Stats
-Saving Throws
-Skills
Don’t forget the space in between (for example, Ac +1, not Ac+1)!
Keep track of items, ammo, and consumables in your inventory
Keeping track of depleting resources in Roll20 is easy--so easy, in fact, that it happens more or less automatically. Drag-and-drop an item (like arrows) from the compendium to a character’s inventory and a resource-tracker will populate automatically.
Then, just make sure the USE AS A RESOURCE checkbox is selected on the item’s settings. From there, a player will just need to manually deplete the number next to the item to keep track of its use.
As this number goes down, the number in your inventory will go down, too. But there’s a way to automate that process as well! The 5th Edition OGL by Roll20 Companion API Script helps keep track of those resources automatically. It ties resources into attacks and abilities so that a player doesn’t have to manually deplete their inventory. Like all APIs, it requires a Pro account to use. For more information on this API script, check out our Zendesk article here.
The Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Character Sheet is powerful and versatile. These are just some of the ways it can make running a game of 5E in Roll20 even easier. There are dozens of tricks and tips to uncover and discover. But the most important thing about your game is just that: It’s yours. Use what works for you!
That’s all for this installment of the Tome of Tips. Got a topic you’d like to see us dive into in a future entry? Let us know in the comments or over on Twitter, and as always: Thanks for playing with us.
As a reminder, we’re matching donations to Code2040, “a nonprofit activating, connecting and mobilizing the largest racial equity community in tech to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent the full participation and leadership of Black and Latinx technologists in the innovation economy.” Learn more and donate through our Tiltify campaign here: http://roll20.io/Tiltify-Code2040
