FebuWhump Day 11: Time Loop
DAY 11: Time Loop
Summary: Time Keeper has seen the devastation the Syndicate caused. L’Manburg is nothing but a crater. If only he had gotten there sooner! If only he could have saved him! If only there was a way to prevent this from happening.
TW: Mention of a Major Character Death. Don't worry! The Character doesn't stay dead!
A/N: Okay, more of a Time Travel than a Time Loop but I had this idea stuck in my head for weeks now! Still trying to figure out the chapters for Tommy Innit's Secret Clinic but don't worry! Once I start writing again, updates will be coming!
Thank You all for your Understanding and Patience!
(L’Manburg in the Future)
Time Keeper stood there feeling numb. The destruction of L’Manburg all around him, Siren laughing maniacally commanding all the officers and riot squads to turn on each other. Erinyes the “Blood God” has taken on a Blood Lust like no other and began taking on any Hero or Vigilante down with his sword and blood energy. Orcus was no better, the once well-known Hero Archangel has now become the Angel of Death. Blacking the skies and having his crows swoop down and attack civilians and killing anyone who dared challenge him to a duel.
Time Keeper stood on top of what was left of the once pristine building that was known throughout as Hero Tower, looking out at L’Manburg, now L’Mancrator or the “Pit” the Blood God called it. When the Syndicate lost their youngest family member Theseus, they all lost it. Finally snapped. If the Heroes refused to honor the Honor Code and have no problem in getting away with murder. Then the Syndicate will have no problem in doing the same.
The only difference was the Syndicate had no problem in going out into Egopocalpse to gain even more power. Egopocalpse, the Alternate Universe where they all live from the Real World of their Creators. Yes, everyone here knows that they are “Characters,” “Alter Egos,” of their Creators. That is when their Creator and the Community behind them stop making content, whether it is Fan Art, Fan Fiction, Cosplays, Theories, Videos, Clips, Songs, Fan Games, or anything else on Social Media or other Platforms. Then they, the Characters, would “Fade.” But some Characters/Egos, like Darkiplier or AntiSepticeye, hate the idea that one day they will fade. So, they try to take over to keep that from happening.
However, grief can do a lot to someone. Even though they all know that one day they will fade from this world, just the mere fact of losing someone you love can be devastating. The Syndicate, desperate to bring their youngest son/brother back, ventured out into Egopocalpse seeking the most powerful Egos they could find. Phantom and Darkiplier were unable to bring Theseus back, his soul had already moved on to the Other Side and it wouldn’t be the same Theseus if they took a different one from another Multiverse. But what they could do, however, was to give them each a power like no other.
Siren could command anyone and there would be no limit to the amount of people, and the command would stay even if he left. But he had to be careful because he could accidentally hurt someone he loved. He didn’t need to sing for them to be under his control and he would have complete control of anyone who could hear him, even if they covered their ears. The price was a piece of Siren’s sanity.
Erinyes could cut through any building and slice through anyone with an energy wave and nothing would be able to contain him. The price would be his blood lust. The more blood that was spilled the stronger he became to the point of Demigod power and used that energy of the spilled blood to take down anyone who dared to face him. No Hero or Vigilante would be able to stop him. Pandora’s Box would never be able to hold him.
Orcus, the once beloved Hero known as the Archangel. The Guardian Angel of L’Manburg, with the power of Air Bending and Wind, had become the Angel of Death. He now has the Power of Death. Able to kill a single person just by touching them and being able to bring that person back as a Zombie completely under his control. The price was his remorse and empathy. Orcus would feel no remorse, no empathy, no guilt for anyone, not even his own family. He’ll still feel love and pride but cannot feel or show any guilt for what he’s done, said, or planned to do even if it cost them dearly.
They all said yes and days after Theseus’s Funeral, they destroyed the one thing that the Hero who killed Theseus loved more than anything else, the City the Hero had sworn to protect. Killing Millions of innocent lives in their wake. And the Syndicate true to their word did exactly that. They planned over five tons of TNT all over the City and detonated it. Leaving L’Manburg as nothing more than the Crater.
“Hehehehahahahaha! L’Manburg! You’re L’Manburg Dream! An Unfinished Symphony forever unfinished!” Siren called laughing hysterically at the destruction he caused.
“Thought I might find you here,” a voice said right next to Time Keeper, making the Hero nearly jump out of his skin.
Time Keeper turned around and was face to face with one of the Egos who was responsible for all of this, Phantom.
“What do you want?!” Time Keeper demanded.
“I can help,” Phantom said, looking at the L’Mancrater with an unreadable expression. He turned to Time Keeper. “You called, I heard, I can help.”
“Why? Why do you want to help? Why should I believe you? You’re the reason this even happened!” Time Keep lost his composure and lost it. Why now? Why does Phantom want to help now?! He was the reason this all happened. He was the one who offered the deal to the Syndicate in the first place! All he wants is Chaos and Destruction so why help?
“I’m not the one who caused all this, Time Keeper. The Hero named Dream who killed Theseus was responsible for all this! If he didn’t kill the Healer, the one who told Dream that ‘Healers don’t play God, they don’t choose who lives or who dies. And you, being a Hero, should know that!”
It was weird hearing Theseus’s exact words and cadence come from Phantom. “And what did Dream do? He’s the one who played God and lost. He killed the youngest member of the Syndicate and did it on live television when the Hero Committee couldn’t pay their way out to the News Networkers and he got caught.”
Time Keeper stayed silent. He knew. He knew there was corruption in the Hero Committee but he just kept turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to it all. Wanting to live in that ignorant life of not knowing. Believing that the Heroes weren’t killing someone unless they had to. But after Dream killed Theseus, it’s still unknown even now if it was an actual accident or if Dream did it intentionally.
Time Keeper still remembers Dream begging him to go back in time and stop him from doing this. To save Theseus! The mantra of I didn’t, I didn’t, I didn’t I didn’t! I didn’t mean it, I didn’t mean, I didn’t mean! Bring him back, bring him back, bring him back! Kept repeating in Time Keepers mind. He was able to go back in time but not to the exact spot where he was. He goes back in time and knows what happened those minutes/hours ago before he traveled. But Time Keeper would wind up where he was before the situation happened and then has to get there in time to stop whatever happened. But he couldn’t. Time Keeper no matter how often he traveled just could never make it there in time.
When the Syndicate saw what happened Erinyes went right after Dream, determined to kill him on the spot. Siren was sobbing and cradling his baby brother. He looked at the Heroes, ripping his mask off showing everyone who was under there.
“Are you happy?! Are you finally satisfied that you finally killed a member of us? You killed a child! He just turned twenty-one! He didn’t do anything but fucking heal you all! He healed Vigilantes, Heroes, and yes us Villains. Because Healers don’t play God! Unlike you who have no problem in sending children as soldiers! Having Orphans and the ones in Foster Care on the front lines just so you can sit in your Penthouse Suites! What did he do to deserve this?!” Siren demanded.
“Do you finally believe us?! When we kept telling you what the Hero Committee was up to? That they are Corrupt? That they don’t give a shit? That they will silence anyone who tries to tell the truth about them experimenting on Hybrids just to make Heroes to control and Villains to show that the world needs Heroes? Do you finally see what they are?”
No one said a word. Too shocked by Siren’s outburst and the fact that everyone was seeing his face for the first time. But the shock soon worn off with the next thing that Siren said.
“Hehehehahahah! You all will pay! We will get our revenge and the one thing you treasured and loved more than anything in the world will be destroyed and it will never be able to bring it back. It’s all your fault Dream!”
Then Siren bent down and grabbed Theseus, scooped him up in his arms, and gave him to Orcus. Then he ran and lept off the building.
“I suppose you’re right,” Time Keeper said, coming back to reality. “But what can you do to help?”
“I can send you back. I know you keep blaming yourself for never being able to save Theseus. It’ll be before all of this happens. Years before, when the seeds were planted and Dream began to go down that path. You can save two people. Dream from losing himself and going to the Darkside and you can save Theseus from dying.” Phantom offered.
“How much time will I have to relay the message?”
“Not long. You can only go back hours in the same timeline but if I do this you will only have minutes to relay the message. You can warn someone, but I can’t guarantee who you will see. But if you want to warn the Syndicate then you better warn yourself as well. I can send you and one other person back momentarily. But we have to be careful. Creating that kind of Time Rift can and will have a lot of consequences.”
“What’s the price?”
“Your memory. You will start to lose your memories the more you travel back or forward in time, more than a few minutes.”
“What about my past self? Would there be consequences for him?”
“He will start to lose his memory too. Slowly, but it won’t be that bad. And you will be seeing parts of the future the minute you cross paths with Theseus and the member of the Syndicate you choose to go back to warn you. But I must warn you if you say yes, then your time-traveling abilities will get a jumpstart and you will become very powerful. Demigod powerful. And if your past self finds a way like your future self has. There will be a way for you two to talk in a Time Rift but only briefly.”
“What do I have to do?”
(Manifold Hotel)
Jack let out an exasperated sigh when he returned to the back of the bar in the hotel. It was nights like these that Jack contemplated his life choices. His Granddad left him, the hotel, and at the time, Jack was overjoyed! Jack loved the hotel business and always imagined himself taking over one day. But at this moment with hundreds if not thousands of fans for this “wonderful” Meet N’ Greet with the Heroes. Jack was seriously starting to see why his parents decided to duck out of the business. The “Karens,” Jack could handle but these obsessive fans over their favorite Heroes? Good Primes above!
“Yo, Casey! We need another round of your famous Chocolate Chip Brownies and another round of Punch! The fountains are getting low!” Jack called out to the Kitchen as he made his way to the back to restock the Buffet. “Casey! Did you hear me? Casey?”
When Jack looked up from his tray, his mouth hit the floor. Everyone in the Kitchen was frozen. It looked as if they became wax statues with how still everyone was standing. But what caught Jack’s attention the most was the water from the faucet froze as well. It was still water, but it didn’t move, it didn’t make a sound. Then, to Jack's utter surprise colors burst out from the corner warping everything around it, and the sound of energy crackling through the air was heard. And Jack felt a power like no other run up his spine.
The person who stepped out of the “Warp” was the last person Jack had ever expected to see. Time Keeper. Time Keeper was standing in front of Jack but he looked completely different. Time Keeper’s hair was a lot longer, nearly shoulder length, and several scars littered across his face and chest. Gone was Time Keeper’s trademark colorful hoodie, replaced by a dark Steampunk coat and shirt with Time Keeper’s trademark swirl. Time Keeper’s goggles were also different, purple and teal lenses, high tech too. But what caught Jack off guard was that one of the Time Keeper’s hands was a mechanical hand.
“Time Keeper?” Jack asked barely above a whisper.
“Boreas,” Time Keeper greeted with a nod. “Oh, wait, you don’t go by that right now. You go by? Frostbite right?”
“I - I don’t know what you’re talking about Time Keeper,” Jack said, perplexed that a Hero knew his Villain Identity.
“I don’t have a lot of time, Boreas, but I need your help,” Time Keeper said with authority. Time Keeper then handed Jack/Boreas a small journal. “The future, the one I just came from, is bleak. Save him! Save the Healer! The future you went to warn my past self since I can’t do that. Hopefully, the both of you will prevent L’Manburg from being a Crater.”
“What happened?”
“The Healer died, and the Syndicate went mad with grief of losing their family member. Help him! Help my past self save the Healer as I couldn’t in the future. Maybe now, with the Time Rift, we change that.” Time Keeper said.
“Wait! Time Keeper! Save who?!” Jack demanded. And then he went after Time Keeper who stepped back into the Warp again. “Time Keeper!” Jack shouted and rushed through the double doors. Finding himself in a hallway full of guests looking at him.
Jack ignored them and tried to find Time Keeper but he was nowhere to be found. Jack then looked down at the journal that Time Keeper gave him and opened it. He froze upon seeing the picture that was in the journal. Oh no! No, no, no, no! Not the kid! The kid’s the Healer that they’re supposed to save. Jack didn’t realize that his hands were shaking and he never heard Casey calling his name several times trying to get his attention.
Jack slammed the book shut, shoved it in his pocket, whipped out his phone called the first person he could think of, and ran towards his room.
“Phil! Emergency Meeting! Tonight! ASAP!”

Ski Mountaineering Classics of the Wasatch – ITCOG
When I started thinking about writing this article I decided I first need to define a few terms. What is ski mountaineering? What makes something “Classic”? And what are the Wasatch?
I took the Ski mountaineering definition from my website.
Ski Mountaineering: the discipline of climbing and descending mountains with the use of skis. Often, using the methods and tools of more traditional mountain climbing. Some of these tools include Crampons, Ice Axe, Harness and rope. Some of the methods include repelling and belaying as well as technical alpine climbing techniques. But ski mountaineering also includes technical descents. Technical descents include Belayed skiing, rappels (with and without skis), and definitely Steep and often exposed skiing.
The definition of “Classic” from the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Classic: serving as a standard of excellence: of recognized value
Wikipedia came up with a good description of the “Wasatch”
The Wasatch is a mountain range in Utah which forms the western end of the Rocky Mountains and runs 160 miles from the Utah-Idaho border to central Utah. All the major ski areas: Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, Park City, and even Snow Basin and Powder mountain are in the Wasatch mountains.
Now that we are all clear about what we are talking about, let’s talk about what you actually want to know. What are the classic ski mountaineering objectives of the Wasatch? Here in the Wasatch, we have some very classic ski descents, including four entries into Chris Davenports coffee table best seller “Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America”, and made more famous by the documentary “The Fifty” staring Cody Townsend. These four classics: Mount Superior’s South Face, Thunder Ridge’s Hypodermic Needle, Mount Timpanogos’s Cold Fusion, and Mount Tukuhnikivatz in the La Sals, are the Utah four to make the cut.
Andrew Mclean’s “the Chuting Gallery” is another well-known tic list of Wasatch ski mountaineering. His book includes some of our favorites like The Pfifferhorns NW couloir, The East couloir on Kessler, and Monte Cristo’s Edge of the World to Directissimo.
These are great lists, but I will be covering the 5 that I believe are the most “Classic” Ski Mountaineering objectives in the Wasatch.
Mount Superior, South Face:
This is probably the most iconic mountain in all of the Wasatch. Directly across the road from Alta and Snowbird, the south face of this beauty is in full view from both ski areas. This visibility contributes to the allure of the mountain as well as its accessibility.
The south face is on just about everyone’s tic list once they see it. That’s a lot of people considering its prominence in the views from two major ski resorts. It is a worthy line, that deserves a lot more respect than one might suspect given the number of tracks that can be seen on the face almost every single day. Don’t be one of the many that think skinning or booting directly up the face is ok. There are way too many people for that silliness!
From the Our Lady of the Snow church in the town of Alta start skinning due north to Cardiff Pass (also known as Pole Line Pass due to the power line that leads you directly to this pass). This first section is well-traveled and should take most parties 1 to 2 hours and gains 1400’. From the Pass head west following the undulating, and at times difficult east ridge to the summit of Superior. This ridgeline gains an additional 1000’, but that doesn’t include the ups and downs as you follow the ridge line. Most parties will take between 2-4 hours on this ridge.
Once on the summit, there are a number of different ways down. All routes are exposed and their difficulty changes depending on snow coverage. When properly filled in, directly off the summit is the classic line. Scope it out from the road before heading up as you can get cliffed out if you pick the wrong line
The Pfifferhorn, North West Couloir:
In some ways, skiing the North West Couloir of the Pfifferhorn is the most technical of the classics I list in this article. The technical aspect is due to the fact that you are skiing above a cliff, which requires a rappel to overcome it. The skiing is exposed and should only be attempted by solid skiers with good technical rope skills.
The trail starts at the White Pine parking lot. Follow the summer trail, crossing the bridge where the trail meets the creek and continuing up and around Pink Pine ridge into Red Pine. Make your way to the top of Red Pine, where you gain the ridge by ascending the headwall. Traverse around No Name Baldy to the south, and then follow the sometimes narrow ridge to where it meets the broad east ridge/face of the Pfifferhorn. Ascend this ridge/face to the summit.
Once on the Summit, you will be able to look down the Northwest Couloir. The top is often narrow and requires down climbing or even a rappel. At first narrow, the soon couloir opens up and is at it’s widest just before the pinch.
At the pinch, there is a bolted anchor on the skier’s right wall. Clip-in, remove your skis and set up the rappel. From the bottom of the rappel, the skiing is slightly less steep and fairly open. The final apron is often amazing skiing in wide-open terrain.
Thunder Ridge, Hypodermic Needle:
The Hypodermic is one of the most striking lines in the Wasatch and is visible from both Alta and Snowbird. This obvious couloir is 1000’ long and has a sustained steepness of 45 degrees or greater. You will want to ski it as soon as you see it, but many don’t because it takes a fair amount of work to get there. There is more than one way to get there, but most culminate with a 1000’ booter directly up the couloir.
My preferred approach is from the White Pine parking lot. Following the summer trail into White Pine, across the bridge, and around Pink Pine ridge into Red Pine, is the first part of this long journey. Once in Red Pine head up the drainage to what is known locally as the Red Pine trees. The top of Red Pine trees flattens out and as you traverse west, you will find yourself in Mambird Gulch. From Maybird ascend the obvious ridge up Hogum Hogback, followed by an enjoyable ski down Hogum 200 into Hogum fork.
It is obvious where to go from here, the couloir will be in its full glory above you. Skin until it becomes too steep and then boot to the top.
From the top of the couloir to the road is nearly 5000’ of great skiing. Exiting Hogum fork is doable if you stay left of the creek where it becomes a waterfall. Pick your way to the road and thumb your way back to your vehicle.
Thunder Mt. North Peak, Coalpit Headwall:
The Coalpit Headwall is a remote and steep north face which can be viewed from the road and many vistas on the north side of Little Cottonwood canyon. This exposed face often has the greatest danger from an avalanche perspective, than any of the “Classics” I describe here. Even a small avalanche could be fatal, so choose your timing wisely.
To approach you can follow the same approach described for the Hypodermic Needle, or try something different. I will describe approaching via the Y couloir. Look for a pull out on the south side of the road 2.7 miles from the mouth of the canyon. From the parking it should be obvious following a trail, taking the initial right dog leg in the couloir and then left all the way to the top. The traverse into Coalpit is steep and often exposed, but it is fairly direct. Once in Coalpit gulch continue to a saddle in the southwest corner of the upper headwall, with will give you access to your booter up the Hypodermic needle.
From the top pick your way down the exposed face taking caution not to get knocked off your feet with your own sluff. This is nearly 2000’ of technical skiing mellowing slightly as you descend. You can exit by continuing down the gulch, as long as you have your rope to get around the waterfall.
Mount Timpanogos, Cold Fusion:
From the suburbs of Provo the North summit of Timpanogos towers, providing stunning views of this spectacular ski line. This line does’t get nearly as much traffic or attention as the other classics I wrote about here. Most people opt to ski this line in the spring and use a bike or sneakers for the 14mile round trip ski. However, when the snow pack is stable this is an absolute five star power run.
From I-15 take exit 287 East toward American Fork Canyon and the Alpine loop road. After only a mile on the Alpine Loop road you’ll reach the Mutual Dell campground. Park here and find the trail heading toward Bear Canyon trail. The initial climb out of the campground is steep and a fairly narrow trail when covered with snow. Before this section got too miserable we reached the Bear Canyon road and followed that pretty much right to the base of the couloir.
I have done this route a few times, each time a bit different. The best way I have found to access the couloir is by an short narrow gully obscured by trees near the eastern side of the main chute. But that might be the crux of the route finding. Once you exit this gully you are in the main chute and the route is generally straight up. I have often found better skinning in the trees to the west of the main gut. But eventually you need to get in it and just keep going up.
There is a sub peak or false summit around 11,300, that you will pass on it’s right. This puts you into another drainage, know as the forked tongue couloir, which takes you to the North Summit of Timp. FYI this puts you only a few hundred yards from the entrance to another great, but more challenging couloir known as the Grunge couloir.
Enjoy 3000’ of great <40 degree skiing to the base of the couloir, give your partners a high five and retrace you steps back to the car.
These descriptions are not meant as a guide per se, I am more trying to give you a general feel of what one of these adventures might entail. If you want more info about Utah Mountaineering, reach out, I am happy to give you more beta. I would also love to take you and show you all the specifics you need to know.

Review: Timp trail shoe. First run, 20 miles on the clay loop. Altra has come out with another trail shoe, the Timp. This one sits above the Lone Peak 3.5 and below the Olympus, with regards to cushion. I added my Caterpy Laces yesterday and kept them on my feet for a few hours and the Timp felt amazing. Nice roomy foot shaped toe-box, asymmetrical lacing, so you don't get pressure points on the top of your feet and a highly reflective mesh adding the safety aspect to the design. With its 29mm stack height and 4mm of outsole lugs, it's hard to think of terrain that this shoe isn't suited to. I'm spoiled for choice with Altra trail shoes. I love my King MT's for anything with a lot of down hill or deep mud (the Velcro strap stops your feet sliding forward on down hills and keeps the shoes on your feet with mud). The LP3.5 and Olympus have been great for almost every Trail condition I've thrown at them but the Timp just seems to hit every aspect I want/need in a trail shoe. #run #running #runfloridarun #clayloop #runallthemiles #runnersworld #instarunners #runnerslife #caterpylaces #altrarunning #altrasforultras #runlong #hammernutrition #hammerfamily #howihammer #gotyourbak #igrunners (at 10 Mile Clay Loop)

I owed Patrick a Dr. Pepper five years ago — I haven’t paid up yet. More because of the lack of opportunity since we live in different ends of the state. I forgot again today — so Patrick PUNISHED me by following me around for a loop and a half playing “Christmas Shoes” on his Bluetooth speakers. But, I think what made it worse was Patrick trying to sing along to it as well. I’m sure this is what hell will be like.

Just like how you end a meal on a sweet note — I ended my 2018 race schedule on one as well. Actually, it was more of a sugar rush. But, if race wasn’t it’d be a failure. It’s nice to now pause for the month to recharge, prepare and focus on what is in front of me for the new year. I got a lot ahead of me, but I’m optimistic, focused and excited for 2019. I have a lot of fun adventures planned! But, this race was fun. Besides the plethora of snacks, the company was even better — even Patrick who followed behind me for a lap and a half playing Christmas Shoes on his Bluetooth speakers. It was just fun to party with so many friends. The running was a tale of two halves. My first two laps were awesome — mainly trying to get away from Patrick and that horrid song. The last two laps I stayed with Lizz. Our third lap was conservative on purpose because we wanted to finish strong. But, that didn’t happen as planned. Lizz pulled a knee muscle and limped to the finish line on the last lap. We were last, but honestly — it didn’t matter. We had tons of fun, which is pretty much the first rule of this race. Do I regret breaking keto and diving into forbidden gluten deliciousness? Yes. I’m going to have a couple fun next days. But, in the moment it was pure enjoyment — especially those Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcakes. Dare I say — they were deliciously moist? Anyways, I had a blast! I’ll be back again, even if I bring my own treats next time. But, oh man, those cupcakes!!! #thebakersdozenhalf #race187 #half154 @josherwalla.run

WarioWare Inc MIDI Data 301-400
I am continuing to go through WarioWare Inc’s audio files to look for any text that has been included. This is not usually possible with GBA games, as they typically do not use MIDI files for their audio.
The files do not actually have names, but there is a list of file names stored separately on the ROM. Track 1 is used for universal settings and information about the entire composition, including the title of the composition (set as the track name), any extra descriptive text, and markers to mark specific parts of the composition.
The “END” marker is always somewhere after the end of the composition, unless otherwise specified. The “[” and “]” markers are used to mark the part of the composition that loops.
Text and markers are in chronological order. The format is as follows:
File #: Name from list on ROM - Track #: Title of track — Text/Marker: Note: Not part of the MIDI data.
File 301: s_BASIC_BUTTON_A - Track 1: s_BASIC_BUTTON_A1_vg3 --- Marker: END - Track 2: sc1dt50
