People are obsessed with exaggerating Annabeth's flaws while also downplaying her good qualities.

People exaggerate a few snide comments she made to Rachel in botl but no one ever talks about how Rachel would have died a painful death if Annabeth hadn't risked her own life to save Rachel from a crashing helicopter in TLO. Annabeth wasn't even fully sure she could fly the helicopter, yet she jumped into it and risked her own death on the chance that she could save Rachel. Mind you, she didn't even like Rachel at this point but she put her feelings aside to save her. She literally could have stood there and let Rachel die and absolutely no one would be able to blame her for it.

People always bring up the fact that she wanted to save Luke as a negative thing while never mentioning that the thing that stopped Luke in the end was his love (familiar) for Annabeth and the promise he made to protect her. Annabeth would not have leaned on that promise to snap Luke out of being Kronos's meatbag if she had completely given up on him like Thalia. Her love and faith that Luke could be saved literally was the ace in the hole in stopping the war and she never gets credit for it. I've seen people give Percy credit for this and claim he was the one that knew when Luke was ready to be saved (give him the knife) which is absolute nonsense. Percy despised Luke right up until the end. He didn't decide Luke was ready for the knife. Annabeth did. What Percy did was finally trust Annabeth's opinion on Luke, something he hadn't done in the books leading up to this moment. But Percy 100% is not the person who made the call that Luke could be trusted, Annabeth was. Yet all of her credit always goes to Percy. Kind of annoying.

People act like Percy is the only one in their relationship that goes above and beyond while never mentioning that a full year before Percy fell into Tartarus for Annabeth, she actually took a near fatal blade straight to the chest for him and almost died. Mind you, she did this after Percy spent an entire summer hanging out with someone else and considering her history with her loved ones that must have completely felt like one more person in her life who abandoned her for someone less complicated when things got tough just like her father did. But when push came to shove she valued his life above her own because she loved him that much even when it could be argued that based on the state of their relationship at that point it would be understandable if she didn't think his life was worth risking her own life for his. But thats just not who Annabeth is. She loved Percy completely, even when they're not in the best place and he's spent the summer leading up to a war in which Annabeth could die hanging out with another girl. After all of that she still never strays from his side or having his back when it really matters.

People always gloss over the fact that Nico wanted to dislike Annabeth because of his crush yet he could never bring himself to dislike her because Annabeth was one of the few people at camp who was always nice to him. Annabeth has always been canonically nicer to Nico than Percy ever has. Yet people who want to ship Nico with Percy (someone who canonically has zero interest in him) they try to act like Annabeth was a monster. Mind you, Percy is the one who found Nico annoying for the duration of the books and Annabeth is the one who looked for him between TTC and BOTL and who was always so nice to him that Nico couldn't even bring himself to dislike her.

And then you have her family. Despite her being emotionally abused and neglected she still continues to give her family chance after chance to be better throughout the books. And despite fandom trying to rewrite history, that decision has nothing to do with Percy. She canonically has been trying to repair her relationship with her father and stepmother even before she meets Percy in Lightening Thief. She's one of the most loyal and forgiving characters in the series and never gets credit for it. *and yes, Annabeth is one of the most loyal characters in the series. Not sure why people act like characters can't have dominant personality traits outside of their fatal flaw. Annabeth is canonically just as loyal as Percy is and Percy has moment of incredible hubris that never gets called out for being hubris.

Really sick and tired of certain folks in this fandom exaggerating or completely making up Annabeth's flaws while ignoring the same or similar flaws in other characters (like Percy for example). And while Annabeth does have flaws, most of what people hate her for are things they have made up in their heads and have seemed to convince themselves is actually the canon from the books. It's both delusion, hateful and misogynistic. They hate her for flaws and problems they made up or exaggerated while straight up ignoring her accomplishments, character growth and good qualities. It's getting ridiculous. And we know most of you only do it because you want to ship Percy with someone else so you need to turn Annabeth into a villain to justify other ships which is incredibly ridiculous because you can literally ship whatever you want without being hateful and making things up about another character.

So many of your favs would be dead or worse off if Annabeth really was the monster ya'll try to act like she is to justify your hatred, misogyny and racism against her. * a lot of Annabeth hate picked up with the show casting a dark skin black girl and any one who thinks that's a coincidence is an idiot.

The Prophecy by Taylor Swift - You know what a TLO adaptation means, right? It means a proper rewrite of the book to make it better, right? Which means we can write percy being actually depressed because of the prophecy, not just him ignoring it like how he did in the book, right? So imagine: when the whole "If I have to die, I have to die" dialogue comes around during the revealing of the prophecy, this song starts playing as percy storms out the room in anger and disbelief. He just goes to his rooms and buries his face in the pillow and starts sobbing with this song in the background. Also the 'just want someone who wants my company' lyric also expresses his feelings towards the rachel and annabeth drama.

they cast a 28 year old for Tyson 💀

yeah, i saw - i wasn't holding onto hope of them casting a disabled actor for Tyson (still disappointed, just not surprised) but casting a 28 year old for a middle schooler is really out of left field. It's just an odd choice? Particularly given how much they've been emphasizing age-accurate casting so far.

It makes me really wonder what major rewrites they have planned for Tyson's character. Because as things stand currently there's no way to make Tyson's existing character work with this casting. Tyson is supposed to be in Percy's grade, but Daniel Diemer sticks out like a sore thumb against the child actors. Tyson being in Percy's grade is pretty important for the entire arc of Sea of Monsters with the main character arc being Percy combating internalized ableism and establishing him as a character who stands up for other marginalized kids. If they remove that, what's Percy's arc going to be for that entire season? At what point are they going to establish that about his character? Or are they just going to exposition it at us like usual with nothing backing it up and no actual character progression? And in later seasons the age gap is only going to be more prominent - like how is Tyson going to work in BoTL or TLO? Are they planning on removing his character entirely for those scenes? Are they going to remove him as a recurring character in general? It'd be really weird if they killed him off or something.

I'm also afraid for if they do try to keep Tyson's disability coding in some form - cause there's kind of no good way it can go at this point. Either they completely erase Tyson's coding because they cast an abled actor for him and that messes up the entire arc of the book and his character particularly in relation to Percy, or they have an abled actor attempt to portray a character heavily coded as having down syndrome (and i believe they're already doing similar with iirc Chiron's actor is abled but they're doubling-down in the show on Chiron being disabled) and given how they've written the neurodivergence themes (or absence there of) in the show so far there's just no way that'd end well. Like, Tyson's characterization is a little questionable to begin with in the books, but given the show's writing so far it just feels like we're very rapidly ramping up for an extremely ableist characterization of Tyson. Like i'm sure Daniel Diemer is a great actor, but... i'm just getting real tired of the show erasing the entire premise of the series :T

Since Rick doesn't re-read his own books,and apparently he doesn't have an editor that point to any mistakes,the continuity of his story is all over the place. There are parts where he completely forgot things and rewrite them. A common example of this is Percy in HoO,when he is sad that he can't met Hercules,when in PJO he hated the guy for what he did to Zoë.

Another one is the ages of the characters,especially when it cames to Nico.

During PJO he is 10 in TTC,11 in BotL and 12 in TLO. This makes him 13 during HoO since his birthday is in January (after the first 5 books). Even tho sometimes Rick forgets about it and age him up a little.

And you know who else is 13 during HoO?Hazel.

She and Nico have the same age,even if they were born in different years and she is technically older than him. Hazel and Nico sibling relationships is the one of an "older sibling × younger sibling" when in reality it should actually be the one that usually twins's have.

Now,image them arguing about something,trying to use the age card,when they are both 13 in their current time. And technically Nico is still the younger one (Hazel's birthday is in December) of the pair.

Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and the WIRED Autocomplete Interview - holythemis: Percy and Annabeth are famous demigods and do the sticker-peel-answer-questions thingy from WIRED. Solid concept, and interesting read!

the annabeth project - pjoseries (divineauthor): This is a fic about Percy going back in time to save Annabeth, and is accompanied by the twelve-year-old version of himself and Annabeth. It's based off of a movie called The Adam Project (10/10 reccomend), and it is such a good read!

I did write Sola in the beginning to be a replacement of Annabeth and rid the world of Percabeth, but I know better now... Now its to replace Annabeth as the female lead entirely cause BOY does she SUCK. Especially as a female love interest because why do they just get more and more toxic??? Like I see my friends fangirling over Percabeth and Im kinda like "Am I blind?" Where the fuck is the slowburn?? I WAS PROMISED A SLOWBURN ITS JUST A "WILL THEY WON'T THEY" AND THAT'S EVEN WORSE.

Rewriting Sola into Percabeth scenes only to hit you with the QPR is the best thing I've done actually/silly

If Sola did stay the Love interest, she'd be arguably better:

"Percy only likes blondes" taken away by giving him a black fem love interest

They do a better job at the "Childhood Friends to Lovers" instead of Enemies to Lovers Percabeth (done HORRIBLY as a person who can write an Enemies to Lovers it was NOT that.)

Even in the QPR light, shows Percy can have a female lead who's a friend and not a love interest (in my brain, yes, they have the kiss in TLO, but it doesn't go anywhere. While they can be romantic, they were always and always will be close friends. Even in the romantic light, it's a "best friends first, Lovers second" approach.)

Treating Percy like a FUCKING HUMAN. She's been friends with him and knows him better than anyone (Like people claim about Percabeth) so she knows his body language, and how he feels about certain things and so, she comforts him in the appropriate moments and scolds him (at least in her narration and she sometimes glares at him) at the appropriate moments.

Their style of joking is constantly mutual and harmless, but she never demeans Percy. Yes, shes harsh on him when they're frustrated in a life or death situation, but she praises him all the time<3

And big pointer: THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER. Even without Chiron’s promise, they care about each other like CRAZY because they're friends and have one of THE CLOSEST and healthiest bonds I think I've written

And his resemblance to Percy could set a dangerous precedent.

Amphitrite really had only gone to that particular beach to see if there was something special about it. To see if the surf was softer, the wildlife nicer, if the nymphs were maybe prettier. She needed to see if there was a reason Poseidon went there so often. But the stretch of sand she’d come to was truly pitiful, it wasn’t anything special or different, it was in fact boringly empty. Or it was meant to be empty. A small child stared up at her with big green eyes, a mop of dark curly hair, and an armful of various colorful buckets and a tiny shovel. Oh.
