my thoughts on the next step 9a
clude leaving is so bittersweet... i'm so sad we've lost such a sweet couple and great wlw representation but they left happy and stronger than ever!!!!!!!
the colour symbolism with kenzie's signature colour going from yellow from to blue is a subtle but effective character choice imo. the yellow in s8 felt more youthful joyful and vibrant for when she was new to being dance captain, whereas now kenzie's blue wardrobe in s9 shows that she's maturing and gaining wisdom as dance captain, but is also going through some tough times too. blue is also tns' signature colour so it also shows that she's an important part of the studio!!!
i love heath in this season... his energy, his attitude, his relationships, carter's acting, everything 💯
grace's reasoning for wanting revenge is so silly because she legit made herself an outcast and when kenzie tried to talk with her she just dipped
i'm still upset and bitter and frustrated with daisy leaving........ i just hate seeing great potential dropped like that. melody was such a good addition to the cast!! also where was her goodbye scene with izzy???????? she wasn't just close with heath; she was close to izzy too!!!!!!
my heart broke for pete multiple times and i'm glad that we had a storyline tackling grief and (briefly) men's mental health. i wish it had more of a focus and lasted for longer but it was still effective.
thalia and eldon are still together!!!!!!!! yesssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!
JACQUIE MENTION YESSSSSSSSSS I'VE WAITED FOR TIMES LIKE THIS
kenzie basically being both the dance captain and studio head by herself because what does nick even do retroactively makes riley look even worse at being studio head.......... yeah season 4's treatment of riley is still annoying me in the year 2024
idk if it's just me but does anyone else feel like it's not internationals???? the vibe feels much more like regionals or nationals. the scale doesn't quite feel grand enough
i wasn't sure that heath was "the heart of the team" but after watching all of 9a, not only is he the heart of the team he's also the team therapist and cheerleader... i love to see it
i love that anthony is still a ball of stress/anxiety and is also in a really important leader position as group choreographer. so often you see anxious people just depicted as introverts and not as leaders, so it's nice to see someone who's anxious but also a very capable leader
olive is the definition of a precious cinnamon roll. she's sounds like a disney princess every time she talks. she reminds me of amy in s4 too!! she really is just the 🥺 emoji
random point but i love that adele's signature colour being emerald green. it reminds me of ariel's tail in the little mermaid and now i'm thinking of an au where adele is ariel and anthony is prince eric
i know i'm probably in the minority here but i am totally on board with anthony x adele (should their ship name be anthele/adelthony/adelony??). anthony really had one conversation with her alone and just fell for her instantly. some fans probably think it's dumb and realistic but i think it's really sweet and they have potential for 9b
i do also lowkey ship adele x olive because they're so cute together (and they remind me of pamy a little.) when adele didn't want to work with ariana but was unable to resist olive's puppy dog eyes...... they're so cute!!!
kenzie and pete are really just the sweetest couple ever and they have such a natural, easy chemistry... they're definitely one of the best couples tns has had in years 😘👌
IS HEATH'S DAD DEAD???????????????
ethan showing character development by being much more of a team player, we love to see it!!! he's still competitive but he's ready to share his ambitions with others
kenzie holding hands with heath was such a sweet, underrated moment... i love seeing strong, supportive and affectionate platonic male/female relationships
ebby naming her pet snail snaiyoncé is iconic
izzy calling heath "heathcliff" and heath calling izzy "isadora"....... the best friendism of it all
eldon mentioning west's iconic bangers and mash solo!!!!!! yes, thank you!!!!!! west is one of the most iconic dancers this show has ever had!!!!!!!!!
kenzie is allergic to flowers, noted!
heath is penzie's no. 1 shipper
ariana putting jett front row centre in her trio........ i know what you are................
ethan's loyalty to izzy is so sweet
WHO IS GETTING CUT??????????????
grace is definitely turning on ariana in 9b... i have a feeling she's going to out her as a traitor and a troupe might kick her off the team for a few episodes
remi is totally going to break ebby's heart, isn't he???
i have a feeling that presley might return to talk to her sister and say something like "chill ariana i'm fine living life and there was no need for getting revenge"
is ethan getting a boyfriend in 9b??????
can't wait for chekhov's bo staff to make its grand return in 9b
also how many enemies to lovers / rivals to lovers style relationships is heath going to have???? ozzy, daisy, pascale....... heath is immune to not having some sort of conflict in his relationships
this is a long shot but i'm really hoping to see more previous cast members returning. yeah i know it's not necessary, but i still want to know what our old faves all doing with their lives
given season 9's marketing has been pretty terrible it really does make me doubt that there will be a season 10. i would like a last series to tie the whole show together and maybe have a few reunions so the show has a great send-off, but feels unlikely now that they really dropped the ball when promoting this series
bring on 9b!!!!!!!!!
this is really jumbled and i've probably missed out so many things but i'm very unorganised so there you go

Not to be rude, but like why is Kenzie there, she wasn’t a part of Step Inside. And where’s Cleo

ngl I didn't realize that the secretkeeper rock was shaped like a hooded face (i saw the watchery stuff and that blinded me to everything else lol) so when the intro referred to the secret keeper as a "who" I thought they meant they had like. Whitelisted someone new to be an NPC type character who would sit mysteriously in a cave and hand out the tasks.
and then once someone completed their secret they'd report how they did it to the secretkeeper, who could help determine if it counted. (honestly i think this would've been handy, bc i saw multiple POVs where the players were unsure about the details of their task's requirements but like. Couldn't ask anyone for obvious reasons.)
anyways if they did do that i would like to nominate joe hills from Nashville TN doing his best spooky voice.
((all the players do their own thing in terms of any joe-related lore. Martyn layers ominous whispering voices underneath Joe's and only refers to him as "the secretkeeper" (cue ominous music), and then Cleo's video is just "And now we're gonna go get our secret task from Joe. Hi, Joe!" "Hi cleo! :D"))
THIS WOULD BE SO FUN!!!!!!

More Scathing hot takes
RANDOM DISCLAIMER I have not watched not a nan lick of g3 Monster High, this is entirely based off of Tumblr post, y'all please inform me of wtf be going on over there.
Tonight, I will be touching on Monster High, because honestly, I don't see enough people talking about my opinions so I'm forcing y'all to see it lmaoo
THE WORLD SHALL KNOW PAIN
Anyways, I feel like this is gonna come out so wrong omgggg but
I DON'T LIKE HOW THEY BROKE OFF ICONIC SHIPS AND MADE EVERYONE LGBT+!!! I don't even care that their gay, it's just the fact that I feel like when shows/media wants to be inclusive when they remake/bring back old shows, they get lazy and just rewrite the existing characters to fit their agenda.
The only time in media it really makes sense (to me) is when a character is going through change, or left a traumatic situation, OR they were always written as a queer character
ie: Harley Quinn. Yeah, I (think) she's always been Bi, but i'd definitely wanna stay the hell away from men after The Joker. I say this as a lifelong Jarley fan. #GoJivey.
And before I go any further, girlllll everybody alr new Clawdeen was lesbian she wasn't fooling nobody💀 it makes SENSE for her character.
Like I know there are now hardcore Cleo x Frankie shippers, and that's fine, I love when people ship characters like that, it's expression of the love for the show, but making it canon??? *Faints*
Maybe i'm just a diehard Cleuce fan idk lmaooo
What I (personally) think they should have done is just introduce new queer/gender neutral/LGBTQ+ characters! I think that would have been so cute and unique cs I feel like no show does that and it's lame.
Like, I just feel like it's such a missed opportunity to make their love interest dynamic, y'know? Like, give them actual depth outside of liking their ghoul.
ie: Deuce. They could've gone into depth about his career and his hopes dreams and aspirations was, and it still ties into Cleo because of her dad and things of that nature.
(Sidenote: Clawd & Jackson/Holt could literally take over the Monster High fandom if they wrote him better in all the gens but y'all not ready for that Convo.)
THERE WAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR JACKSON/HOLT OMG
I WANT NEW QUEER/LGBTQ+ CHARACTERS
Especially the boys ;)
Anyways, that's my hot take for tn, first moderately sized post (Hooray)
Post Script: What is this narrative that G1 Frankie liked too many boys?? Y'all be so frl. She liked 2 people. Jackson and Holt were the same people stop playing in my Tumblr space like that :|
Post Post Script: They had low-key pmo not giving lala some depth we all know she a bad bitch stop acting like she static.

Hi hello hey can you give me as many detail as you want about your Star Trek au concept so I can draw it pretty please, go nuts 👍
(tbh creature staring) oh boy you have... opened the floodgates my friend... oh boy.. oh man oh man i'll do the basics to start
the ship is called the USS Orpheus. NCC-2719. Excelsior Class. she's a beauty, and she's brand new. the mission: exploration.
her captain? none other than Ren K'ing, a Romulan officer who climbed the ranks and is a stickler for Starfleet regulation. like. painfully so.
Commander B-00-100 ("Bdoubleo" or "Bdubs) serves as his second officer. Bdubs is a human clone. while he was one of the first to actually function, he also defected from what was intended of him pretty quickly. luckily, though, his individual sentience was encouraged, and he joined Starfleet! (Zedaph loves having Bdubs on board to learn about)
we then have, for the bridge crew... Second Officer/Communications Officer: Lieutenant Cleo, a Kobali Chief Engineer: Lieutenant Mumbo K. Jumbo, species yet undecided Chief Science Officer: Lieutenant Zedaph, a Grazerite Chief Medical Officer: Lieutenant (Jr.) Joe Hills, a Human from Nashville, TN Helmsman: Ensign Pearlescent "Pearl" Moon, an Aenar Andorian Navigator: Ensign Gemini Tay, species tbd Chief Tactical Officer: Ensign Etho, a Vulcan (though i've jumped through some hoops to make his design fit with Vulcans) Security Chief: Commander Scar Goodtimes, a Vexian (my own alien race based on Vexes i'm already very deep in design and culture god help me) Operations Officer: Commander Xisuma, a Kelpien and then the rest of her crew... Engineering: Ensign Eight of Five "Iskall", a defected Borg Lieutenant Seven of Seven "Doc", a defected Borg Ensign Jevin, a Changeling Ensign Keralis, species tbd Ensign Tango Tek, a Xahean Science: Lieutenant Cubfan, a Vexian Ensign Hypno, species tbd Commander "Vintage" Beef, a Human (might change) Medical: Ensign Stress Monstah, alien species tbd Lieutenant XB Crafted, species tbd Security: Lieutenant False Symmetry, species tbd Ensign Impulse, a Taxor Lieutenant Wels Knight, species tbd
where is grian, you might ask? well you see. Grian is part of the alien race called The Watchers. they are entirely unknown to the Federation until the USS Orpheus falls into a rift in a subspace bubble. within that rift-- within that bubble-- they find a lone planet circling a star. on that planet are the Watchers. a species who never interact or interfere with anything that falls through the rift. it's their way! they only ever observe. watch.
of course, Grian is a pesky little bird. and he does not follow that tradition at all.
the USS Orpheus has to send down a landing party to retrieve something from the planet's surface in order to repair their ship from passing through the rift. Scar, being chief of security and also able to talk himself out of pretty much any situation is sent down. because it's first contact and there's no warp signature from the planet, they only send Scar down bc... they can't really risk breaking the Prime Directive.
but uh. yeah. scar runs into grian pretty quickly.
i have. so much brainrot over the watchers and the vexians already too. and also etho's backstory. and ethubs history. and just. so much. so much brainrot. i'm. very excited to share stuff hehehe... esp considering i'm working on some design sheets for some of these guys, esp the vexians/watchers and some of my other alien blorbos <3

finally started watching tns season 8 (after rewatching s7) and aaaa i just love these characters so much
sad to see henry go but i guess that's just what happens in this show lol
i'm even starting to ship richelle and ozzy. i didn't like that ship initially (partally bc i ship ozzy with heath lmao) but i think with how the characters have evolved it's a good time for them now. i love both of these characters so i guess it'll be nice to see them be cute. i would like to see them be "just" very good friends but i guess i already got that with noah (which i loved) and it makes sense that they wouldn't just do the same thing a second time also their height difference is cute and they have great chemistry while dancing
i've seen the first two eps so far so they just revealed that there might be a mole in a-troupe. my gut says heath bc he might see a way for this to get him to nationals after all, and who else has a motive? kenzie was occupied with sth else. i doubt she would do the whole dc diary thing if she already had a different plan. i feel like the mole is gonna be someone you'd least expect, like ozzy (bc he thought it might help richelle some way?). idk how big this mystery is gonna be or if they're just gonna reveal it in the next ep lol but i'm excited for the drama.
sidenote if anyone has access to s7ep21 (the one where cleo and jude kiss) pls lmk it's the only one i couldn't find 😭

Rising temps, rising anxiety: Climate change creates emerging mental health challenge

Rising temps, rising anxiety: Climate change creates emerging mental health challenge
Claire Grunewald | (TNS) Miami Herald MIAMI — Flooding tides. Soaring temperatures. Even species disappearing, like a rare cactus declared in July forever “extirpated” from the Florida Keys. Many troubling signs of climate change in South Florida are visible — but one that affects a growing number of people is not. It’s called climate anxiety, a fear of what the future may hold in a warming world. It hit Olivia Collins not long ago, The wave of worry surprised her since she’s immersed in the subject from working at Miami’s CLEO institute, which is dedicated to climate education and advocacy. The unsettling feeling suddenly washed over her after she read “The Light Pirate,” a novel set in near-future Florida about a child born out of a devastating hurricane who has to navigate a world undergoing frightening change. “I’ve been with CLEO for seven years and never felt climate anxiety, but it hit me like a ton of bricks back in the spring,’’ Collins said. “After I read that book, I was seeking my own personal climate therapist through the climate psychology network. It felt too real. It hit this nerve so deep down, and I can’t undo it.” Some may scoff, perhaps the same skeptics of science showing the environmental already changing, but academic researchers and practicing psychologists have identified climate anxiety as an increasingly common stressor. Experts at Yale University define it this way: distress about climate change and its impacts on the landscape and human existence. It can manifest as intrusive thoughts or troubled feelings about the future of the world. Also called “eco-anxiety,” it can take the form of “eco-guilt,” a feeling of not doing enough personally, or even “eco-rage,” an elevated anger that everybody else isn’t doing enough to deal with looming threats. Worries about what rising temperatures and seas will do to the world are increasingly common, researchers have found, particularly among younger people. In a 2021 study in The Lancet surveying 10,000 youths in several countries, including America, the majority of respondents said they were worried about climate change, while more than 50% reported feeling sad, anxious or guilty. More than 45% said their feelings about climate change were strong enough to negatively affected their daily lives. Other measures suggest a rise in people struggling to cope with climate concerns. In South Florida — ground zero for the threat of sea rise and smack in the middle of hurricane alley — the website Zencare shows 11 therapists now listing “climate anxiety” treatment as part of their practices. On a global scale, worldwide Google searches for “climate anxiety” or “eco-anxiety” increased by 4,590% from 2018 to 2023, according to a report by Time. Putting a number to clinically serious anxiety cases is difficult. But in a study published in the Yale Climate Change Communication program In 2022, researchers asked a group of Americans aged 18 and older how often they feel nervous, depressed or bothered by global warming over a period of two weeks. Using a widely accepted psychological measure, their findings suggested that 3% of the adult population could be experiencing potentially serious levels of anxiety due to climate change. The researchers also found out that Hispanic/Latino adults are more likely to experience high levels of climate anxiety, while younger members of Gen Z, Millennial and Gen X generations are experiencing higher rates compared to Baby Boomers and older people. That hardly seems surprising since scientists predict younger generations will likely see more profound changes if current trends continue. ‘An emerging field’ The issue isn’t new but has only recently began entering mainstream conversation. More than a decade ago, a community of mental health practitioners first formed what it called the Climate Psychology Alliance focused on the complicated emotions surrounding the climate crisis. They also built a directory of therapists prepared to work with clients on the issue. Brittany Rivers, one of two climate-aware therapists in the state listed on the alliance directory, now offers services like mental health therapy, nature based therapy and hosts Climate Cafes online, which are support groups for those struggling with climate distress. Rivers, who is based in Gainesville, said they haven’t had a lot of people reach out specifically just for climate anxiety but it’s usually mixed in with other concerns — perhaps because it remains what Rivers called “an emerging field.” Clients, who Rivers said tend to be more “politically informed,” are sometimes surprised to know, “‘Oh, I can ask for help for that.’ Like I can actually go to therapy and get support.” A lot of Rivers’ motivation to work with the climate-anxious comes from the therapist’s own struggles with the issue and grief related to environmental loss. “I would have loved to have been able to go to a provider that knew about this and cared about it and wanted to support me, or to have a community space,” Rivers said. “I definitely had those feelings of isolation with what I was experiencing.” A new focus for advocates Outside of the healthcare field, climate advocacy organizations also are beginning to include mental health resources as a part of outreach efforts. The Climate Mental Health Network, a national organization, is one of them. Elissa Teles Muñoz of Miami is one of its K-12 programming leads. She researches how teachers can acknowledge the emotions that come with discussing the implications of climate change in the classroom. She said young people in South Florida see the effects in real time, in the form of coastal flooding and hurricanes, which can provoke not only questions but an array of responses. “In order to have responsible climate education, you need to be addressing emotions that arise within students in an appropriate way,” Muñoz said. Muñoz, 24, said she began having strong emotions triggered by climate change herself around 2018, when the IPCC Special Report about global warming came out. The report warned about rapidly increasing consequences of global warming and how humans are contributing to the speed of changes. She recalled feeling anxious and depressed, unsure of how to handle her emotions. Focusing on solutions or at least ways to delay or reduce impacts can help ease the anxiety, she said. Citizens Climate Lobby, an international environment group based in California, also offers educational materials for those wanting to start climate conversations in their community. The resources include a climate anxiety counseling booth inspired by the iconic Peanuts comic strip — specifically, a running gag involving a character named Lucy offering psychiatric counseling out of a converted lemonade stand The group also offers step-by-step conversation guides on how to communicate and engage with anyone looking for help with their climate anxiety. The guides give examples of conversation starters and topics to avoid. It also offers support and resilience teams to help people working on climate change awareness campaigns. “Climate change advocacy can be deeply rewarding… yet it can also be stressful and exhausting,” according to its website. “[The resources show that] they’re not alone and not alone in their suffering and grieving,” said Solemi Hernandez, a Naples resident and CCL’s southeast regional director. Social media an outlet In the digital age, people dealing with the emotions surrounding climate change also have turned to a familiar outlet: social media. On the Reddit anxiety thread, which has nearly 700,000 members, there are several discussions focused on climate change and environmental distress. Some threads talk about feeling scared or hopeless about climate change and what the future may look like. California-based environmentalist and content creator Isaias Hernandez has been talking about this issue for years on social media. The 28-year-old is behind the @queerbrownvegan Instagram account, which touts over 100,000 followers. Hernandez has shared blog posts highlighting the emotions surrounding climate change for years. One of his posts from 2020 explains the climate emotion scale, which covers a range of feelings that arise from the climate crisis. The emotions range from “solastalgia,” an existential environmental-induced distress, to “eco-guilt,” the feeling that you should be contributing more to help protect the Earth. Three years later during wildfire that swept Canada, he said there was a huge jump in traffic on eco-anxiety posts on his websites. Hernandez believes climate emotions can be nuanced and that socioeconomic and political factors play a role in the way people might react. For example, he said he grew up in poverty with a father working as a landscape gardener.. With basic concerns like making a living, he said he didn’t have time to worry about helping the environment — unlike the affluent families who his father worked for. “In my younger years in college I first learned about the term eco-anxiety and I laughed, “ he said in an interview with The Miami Herald. “I thought at the time it was a very privileged thing, and I realized it was not so much. It’s a very shared common response to people.” Researchers have validated his take, finding climate concerns can vary widely depending on socioeconomic status. Yale research scientist Anthony Leiserowitz said in an article explaining climate anxiety that those who can afford to have things like air conditioners in their cars and homes will worry less about how something like higher temperatures might impact their daily lives. The Environmental Protection Agency found that communities of low-income and with higher populations of people of color, have neighborhoods with higher temperatures compared to nearby neighborhoods with higher incomes and less diversity. It also found that low-income households tend to live in less energy-efficient homes that are more expensive to cool, making it harder to deal with the heat. Hernandez said his audience online are typically high school or college students and it’s obvious to him that younger generation facing the brunt of the climate change also have heightened emotions about it. “They have told me that they’ve grown up with climate anxiety since they were a kid,” Hernandez said. Bigger than one person In South Florida, younger people looking to be in a space to share their emotions might turn to the CLEO institute’s GenCLEO group, which aims to educate younger generations on the changing climate. Luke Norris, a University of Miami ecosystem science and policy student, a 21-year-old GenCLEO member, grew up in California with a front-row seat to droughts and wildfires. In 2020, his sibling lost their home in a town called Boulder Creek to one of those fires. The experience pushed Norris towards climate advocacy. With fellow CLEO staffers, Norris is working on the initial stages of what they hope could be a first-of-its-kind climate anxiety research center focusing on education and helping those with symptoms of climate anxiety. One key to dealing with anxiety, he believes, is underlining that climate change is a challenge for humankind, not any one person. We’re all in it together. “When I’ve gone to therapy and talked about climate anxiety it’s very individual-centered and doesn’t help with the root of the problem,” he said. “You don’t want to feel that you’re alone.” ©2024 Miami Herald. Adopt a Foster Puppy in Silver Spring, Maryland
Adopt a Foster Puppy: Cleopatra (we call her “Cleo”) was brought into our rescue group along with 3 of her litter mates at the age of 4 months old. They were terrified, as they were dumped at a shelter in TN taken away from their mom at an early age and left at the shelter until our Rescue group (Reach Out Rescue – RORR) came along and transported all the puppies from TN to Maryland, where they were all placed in various foster homes.

TNS Marching Band AU
So last year I thought about writing a college marching band AU but I didn't get beyond sorting every A-Trouper into sections. Pre-Season 7 my brothers helped because those are the seasons I can watch on the TV, and my brothers are band kids through and through. New characters for seasons 7-9 are probably less accurate since I was assigning them on my own.
Section leaders above the cut, rest of the sections below.
Michelle-head of music (clarinet) Emily-head of marching (flute) Noah-drum major (bass clarinet)
Thalia-clarinet Kenzie-flute Piper-alto sax West-tenor sax (+bass clarinets) Daniel-trumpet James-percussion (quads/tenor) Riley-trombone (+baritones) Eldon-tuba (+horns)
Clarinets Chloe Cassie Skylar Ozzy Heather Heath Daisy Dylan
Flutes Stephanie Tiffany Jacquie Lola Kingston (hangs out with the saxes) Ethan Niall Olive
Alto Saxes Cierra Henry Zara Summer Izzy
Tenor Saxes and Bass Clarinets Giselle-tenor sax Davis-tenor sax Jett-tenor sax Anthony-bass clarinet Adele-bass clarinet
Trumpets Alfie Richelle Elliot Lily Cleo Presley (yes, I know she was never officially on A-Troupe, work with me) Ebby Grace
Percussion Luke-snare Theo-bass John-snare
Trombones and Baritones Hunter-trombone Sloane-trombone Finn-trombone Jude-trombone Ariana-trombone Amanda-baritone Ella-baritone Josh-baritone
Tubas and Horns LaTroy-tuba Amy-horn Pete-horn Xander-horn
