in terms of art alone im sorry. im a jrjr defender to my last breath you be fucking nice to him. i dont wanna hear shit❗️❗️❗️
#can someone also get him better inkers rn i am begging. pleading even. HE MAKES GOOD STUFF THEY JUST GIVE HIM SHIT INKERS WHO DONT GET IT.#MY FIRM BELIEF. im sorry. i like his stuff. there are certain things not quite my taste but i think he does good overall im a fan. BE NICE#static.soundz#sorry that last post was so directly inspired by seeing someone go can u guys be nice he is on a fucking nutbag schedule. which he is.#i dont think some people understand the insanity of comic production. and how much it takes a toll on you.#many have said and i will say it too: comics is a killing industry. it is a beautiful fun job. it is fulfilling. it will also destroy you.#the most common and easiest to use example is in fact the manga industry. they want chapters in a week. 20 page type chapters in a week.#A WEEK!!! and currently look at things like webtoon as well which also expect the same amount of pages. in a week. an issue in a week#is an insane demand. it is an unreasonable demand. it is scheduling that leads you to a crash and burnout and health issues#because it is fully finished polished pages. as much as i poke and complain about how some things look there#i am also highly aware of production schedules. even if some styles are not my taste that still doesnt mean it isnt insane work#and it's the same in american big industry comics too. it isnt weekly demand the way those are. but it's still an intense schedule#you are working on pages and can get behind years before those comics even hit shelves.#and as it becomes more individualized too as we lose the team element and work becomes more one person doing all pencils and inks#that schedule is a lot. it just is. it doesnt matter if theres more time in comparison to other parts of the industry#the point is that it is all very demanding and exploitative. there is a drive yourself to your grave mentality here and i've had ppl try#to shove that mindset onto my and my peers which is the worst thing possible to encourage. highly alarming and disheartening to encourage#impressionable students already so worried about making it to drive themselves to an early grave. abuse substances to get through work.#work excessive hours while you still can because when you hit your 30s youre gonna lose that ability#become bitter and prepared for rejection as opposed to success because this industry sucks!#it's just such an unhealthy depressing mindset. i've had more artists preach the exact opposite as that and more ppl have been trying to#shift over to valuing your time and health. but still a lot of people are in that other mentality. and it's very very very sad.#i am only a student doing very low stakes homework for classes. i have no industry experience. and i still get it taken out of me#to do fully fledged out pages in my style in one week. this is also just a thing for me bc certain personal factors just make it hard#but still. comics are fun. they are fun. they are fulfilling. they will lead you to so many fucking issues if you are not highly careful#there is a reason why so so so many fucking comic artists have very well known issues. why you hear about so many ppl with substance issues#artists with very poor mental health. when you are in comics this is how it is.#i am glad there has been a big shift in recent years towards taking care of yourself as an artist. and that more ppl try to value it so tha#things can hopefully change at large in a broader sense. but please remember. we are an exploited chew up spit out industry too.

.
I often feel that it took me thirty years to write my first book, No Pain, No Game. Not because I was physically writing it for that long, but because finally publishing my first novel felt like the culmination of three decades of bad writing, half-finished novels, random short-stories and a million mundane diary entries. It took that long to experiment with my craft, hone my skills, and master the fear of putting my work out there for all to see.
Exaggerations aside, it actually took me three years to write No Pain, No Game, from typing the first word on an otherwise blank page to having a fully-fledged, ready-to-publish novel. Those three years consisted of mostly undisciplined writing, sitting down to work on the story as and when the urge arose, sometimes not looking at it for weeks on end, and only getting back to it when inspiration hit. Only when I got serious about publishing did I put in the hours consistently, whether or not I was in the mood for it. The whole experience felt like not so much like long distance running, but more like a slow, often sluggish stop-start stroll, with a heart-pumping sprint at the very end.
I came out of having published the book revved up from adrenaline, soaking in the momentum, fretting for more and ready to do it all again. Out came the laptop again, the rush to get the first draft over and done with and the mad rush into editing-land.
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint (and not interval running, and not a slow leisurely walk)
The thing with sprinting, however, is that if you do it for too long, you quickly run out of breath and I soon learnt that maintaining that level of effort over time was unsustainable. Somewhere in the middle of editing my first draft, I hit a wall.
A big, fat, hundred feet high brick and mortar monster of a wall. I never saw it coming, and I face-planted right into it. For weeks after that I couldn’t look at my manuscript or social media, and I had to take a proper break from it all to restore.
The break gave me a chance to introspect and take stock of what had happened. It felt to me that, if I wanted to keep on writing more books (which I did) I had to pivot from my disorganised style of writing to a more committed endeavour. There’s nothing wrong with a leisurely walk, or random bouts of interval running, but I realised it wouldn’t give me the kind of results I was truly after. I had to look at writing as a marathon, and build the sort of stamina and endurance I needed to do this many times over without burning out.
From Dilettante to Disciplined Writer
When I think back to writing my first book, I wonder if there’s some truth in the saying that ignorance is bliss. Because I was less focused on the outcome at the time, I was better able to enjoy the ups and downs of the process, especially because I only sat to work at it when I felt like it. I was also mostly unaware of the mountain of logistics that come with writing and publishing a book, so I’d be able to see the distance I’d covered, without worrying about the miles that still stretched ahead of me. Yes, ignorance was, most definitely, a little bit like bliss.
Reminiscing on her own experience, author Shamika Lindsay says that, with her first book, ‘the process felt so different and [she] almost felt the pen gliding across the paper but with [the sequel], it was like pulling teeth’. In fact, she adds, starting to write her second book from scratch felt like ‘such a chore and [she] was just so eager to complete it because [she] felt like it took so much from [her] to write than the first book’.
For R. G. Tully, author of the Ardamin series, who put greater emphasis on the editing stage when working on his second book, the process also took longer and wasn’t always enjoyable. ‘The editing grind was exactly that, a grind’, he confesses.
But you have to do it whether you like it or not, because the only way out is through. There are, fortunately or unfortunately, no shortcuts. Fortunately, because it’s the very act of going through that arduous journey that makes you a better writer in the end. And unfortunately, because there can be times it’s just not all that pleasant.
You’ll be surprised the amount of distractions that manifest themselves when you desperately need a reason not to work on your manuscript — it’s actually quite spooky. Treating writing with discipline, organisation and professionalism is exactly what will prevent you falling off tracks, and what ultimately gets the work done. And that’s the difference between a published book and one that’ll sit indeterminately unfinished somewhere in your archives.
A Tough Act to Follow
Unfortunately, there’s still a little bit more to writing your second book than just great discipline. Even when you’re able to get yourself to follow through and show up for your craft, giving your first book a literary sibling can come with its own challenges, especially because you have something to compare it to.
And it’s not only you, but your readers too, who will be expecting certain standards from your writing, especially if it’s a series. Though it shouldn’t come in the way of writing the book you want to write, the relationship of trust you’ve built with your readership through your first book still needs to be honoured, and this can cause certain amounts of pressure.
‘I felt a little pressure to keep the same feel about the story’, R. G. Tully says, ‘and to include more from my secondary characters, give them a little more depth’.
Stormi Lewis, author of the Sophie Lee trilogy, puts it simply: ‘It was a little hard to decide how to exactly start [with the second book]. At first I was worried and became overwhelmed because so many loved the first one. I didn’t want to let anyone down. I had to step back and come to terms that they loved it for being unique. And the only way I could stay true to the story and give them what they really wanted was to focus on the story and not so much about what I thought they wanted for the second.’
For others, the comparison can be more inward-facing, like author Tara Lake, who admits that writing the second book in her series has been a challenge, because she’s ‘struggled with comparison of the self: past Tara had a lot more time to devote to writing, present Tara has much less time with [her] kids being home full time from school during much of the pandemic’.
For others still, some of that pressure can be self-imposed. When writing her second book, Freya McMillan shares that ‘[she] put a huge amount of pressure on [herself] as [she] wanted it to be meaningful in a particular way to honour [her] dad, who died a few years ago. Once [she] stopped doing that, it was much less challenging to write’.
It Ain’t All Bad.
I do want to pause here and add that not everyone faces such challenges. There are authors out there who launched into writing their second book with more ease than the first.
Sabrina Voerman tells me that ‘[her] second book came a lot easier to [her] than [her] first book. The idea hit [her] so hard and fast that it took [her] aback, and [she] could do nothing but write it’, and the entire novel was written in a matter of weeks, whilst her first book took years to finish.
Same for Trevor Wiltzen, who says that writing the sequel to his first book went smoothly, greatly helped by the fact that ‘[he] wrote the second book immediately after the first, [so he] knew the characters really well’. He admits he ‘found it very freeing and really enjoyed the process’.
Even Stormi Lewis, who struggled at first, adds that ‘once [she] got started, [she] was fine’ and that ‘[she] felt the writing was solid and [her] best book yet, simply because [she] really got to develop more of the characters and the story’.
As with everything, we must then conclude, there will be as many types of experiences as there are writers out there. So how can we best prepare for what’s to come?
A Chance to Grow
Performance coach Tony Robbins says that the quality of our lives is intricately linked to the quality of the questions we ask ourselves on a daily basis. So if we need to face something that’s outside our comfort zone — starting again from scratch on your second book for instance — is it a punishment or is it a gift? Is it a curse or an opportunity?
I’m tempted to think that the level of discomfort that can come with writing your second book is a gift, because it gives us a chance to grow.
It’s a chance to take everything we’ve learnt from doing it the first time around and take our learnings for a spin to see if it makes the process easier. It’s an opportunity to improve, to work at our craft in new and wonderful ways.
It’s both daunting and incredibly exciting to face a brand new story — or a different side to the same story for those writing series — and to dare to plunge into the unknown of where it’s fated to take you. It’ll see you grow and evolve as a writer and, in turn, you’ll get to watch your writing morph into something more mature than it was before.
I say look at your writing like you do the passing of seasons: different times will have different qualities, different characteristics, different feels to them. You live and learn through each of them, and gather a wealth of experiences that eventually inform who you become. Maintaining the discipline to write through every single one of them is what will ultimately give your work all its depth and substance.
All it takes is that first word on the page.
And the second.
And the third.
And all the words beyond that.

Page Eighty-Three- Kaz Brekker
Real (Page Eighty-Three series, part 3)
And thus, here we arrive at the end of the Page Eighty-Three series! I’ve been working on it almost a week now, and had the idea brewing in my brain for two weeks beforehand, so, considering the way that I’ve chosen to publish all the parts, it’s not gonna be a very emotional goodbye for you guys, but for me, oddly enough, it is?
Its the first fic I’ve done that’s been more than two parts, and I guess that adds to it? I don’t know! But, anyways, on with it!
Also, a gentle reminder, I only have Kaz being a little on the touchier side because this is a bit of an AU of sorts, and they’re around twenty four in this last part, which gave him time to work on his trauma more and get comfortable with touch!
Fic type- fluffy as fuck
Warnings- a very brief mention of the flashback in the first chapter (to be specific, nina says ‘stopped you from getting hatecrimed’) and a brief sexual innuendo

T H R E E Y E A R S L A T E R
You knocked out after you’d killed your father, and went home completely unconscious on Inej’s boat, tucked onto a cot with Kaz at your side. Genya had decided to spend a little time around Ketterdam, get to know the ins and outs and provide intel for Nikolai when he asked for it, and Nina had decided that her home could be Ketterdam for four months of every year.
Inej did her thing, catching and killing slavers all around the globe, but her visits to Ketterdam became more frequent after you’d gotten back.
Jesper took your amplifier and made it a project for himself, removing the claw from the obsidian and instead using his fabrikator abilities to turn it into a bracelet that you wore on your right hand, made of gold, with the claw dulled out so that it didn’t poke you when you moved your wrist.
A year after you’d returned home, when yourself and Kaz had gone into his office one morning, book clutched in one of your hands, the other interlaced with Kaz’s fingers, you found a box sitting on his desk.
A note from Zoya was taped to the top of it.
A top tier bitch deserves a top tier amplifier, it read. Bracelet. Wear it on your right wrist. It’ll go with the bear claw wrapped in gold.
You kept the note, reading it to yourself whenever you needed a laugh, giggling about it with Nina when she needed a laugh, too.
All of those small moments ended up leading to a much bigger one, though. The day that Kaz proposed.
It was a pretty simple proposal, but you loved it.
--
“I had to get advice from Jes about this,” was how he started it, even before he’d gotten down onto one knee. “He proposed to Wylan in the fall, and I know that the Winter makes Ketterdam look absolutely stunning, and I know that you like the scenery, so, well, here we are.”
You’d been walking around Ketterdam, the clicking of Kaz’s cane against the pavement a soothing sound for the both of you.
You’d managed to make it near the outskirts of Ketterdam just by walking, as Kaz’s leg was being decent to him and he wanted to walk until you’d arrived at one of the more scenic spots. You indulged him for the sake of it, making sure you took breaks and that he got water when he was tired.
It’d been snowing, and the sky had yet to darken beyond a light grey. You and Kaz both had snow in your hair, but to one another, it just added to handsomeness, so neither of you moved to brush the snow out of your hair or off your faces.
“When we were seventeen,” he began, feeling for the box in his pocket. The one with a ring inside, cushioned by red, velvety fabric. “You read me a quote from the book I’d gotten you that day. You’ve memorized just about every poem in it since, and I happen to have done the same thing.”
“The quote that you read to me was from The Sun and Her Flowers. It was on page eighty three,” he grinned at you, a fully fledged smile. Something he saved for you and you exclusively.
“I’m going to change the wording a bit, because it’s in the past tense, and we’re not past tense. The quote was ‘you were mine, and my life was full,’,” he said. “I’m changing it to ‘you are mine, and my life is full.’ Because thats how I feel.”
“Kaz?” You asked. “Do you have something planned?” He raised an eyebrow at you as he clutched the box.
“I suck at words, so, from Rupi Kaurs book Milk and Honey, I offer you this,” he carefully got down onto a knee, using his cane to keep him steady for a few quiet moments as you realized what was happening.
“‘You are every hope and dream I’ve ever had, in human form.” He pulled out the ring, opening the box and holding it out to you. “That’s page forty nine, love.”
“If you can’t think of an answer, please, just-- anything works,” if Jesper had told sixteen year old Kaz Brekker that he’d end up on his knees, begging you for a response to his proposal at just twenty two, he’d have called Jesper crazy.
“Yes,” you mumbled. “Yes, Kaz Brekker. If you’re asking me to marry you, it’s an immediate yes.” He used his cane to get himself up to standing again, slipping the ring onto your ring finger and accepting the hug that you pulled him into.
You were going to marry Kaz Brekker, the love of your life, and you couldn’t wait for it.
--
The day seemed to come at you quickly, even though you’d not set the date until Winter of year that you turned twenty four.
First, it was calling Nikolai and asking if you could cash in the reward for killing your father and doing him and the world a justice that they deserved, then it was finding suitable tuxedos and sending out invitations and planning a million different things at once.
But, eventually, you, Jesper, Wylan, Genya, and Nina, were all on Inejs boat, headed toward the Little Palace.
Then, all of the sudden, you were in the last stretch of time before the wedding. Alina, Mal, Genya, Zoya, and Nina were talking as Genya tailored you, getting rid of some of the blemishes and fixing up little things about your face that you’d asked her to tailor until the end of the ceremony.
“It’s weird,” Alina said, pressing a kiss to Mals cheek as she glanced at her own wedding ring. “I remember you as this fourteen year old boy who used to gawk at the attractive guys in the Second Army, the boy who resented his powers and swore at his father at any chance that he got, and now you’re and you’re completely different.”
“Different how?”
“Kaz Brekker,” Genya said, running her finger under one of your eyes gently, as to get rid of your eyebags. “He’s good for you.”
“And you don’t resent your powers anymore,” Zoya adds. “You don’t use them often, but you don’t resent them.”
“You use them, don’t you, mate?” Mal quipped. “Or were my eyes tricking me when I went to wake you and Brekker up this morning, only to find you keeping light out of your room with a flick of your bloody wrist?”
“I was tired,” you pouted. “Kaz and I both were!”
“Ah, newlyweds,” Nina joked.
“It’s not like that!” You shouted. “Zoya, help me out!”
“He’s able to kiss you now,” she said. “Like, with tongue and stuff. Theres no reason he wouldn’t be able to enjoy a fun little tumble with you here and there!”
“’Tongue, and stuff,’” Mal repeated. “Yes, Zoya, because, as a twenty six year old woman, that’s totally adult phrasing.”
“I wouldn’t have been able to describe it any better,” Nina quipped. Genya and Alina hummed their agreement as Genya moved to your hair, fluffing it and styling it so it that it looked nice as you adjusted the cuffs on your dress shirt.
“Wheres my blazer?” You asked, grabbing your tie from Genyas lap, tying it as she evened out some of the color near your roots.
“Closet,” Alina answered. “I’ll get it for you!” Mal checked his watch.
“We’ve got three minutes to get down there,” he said. “Lets make the most of Y/Ns remaining 180 seconds unmarried.” You laughed, rolling your eyes as Genya stood, helping you up after.
Nina shot Genya a glance, and she took the hint, ushering Alina, Mal and Zoya out of the room and passing Nina your blazer as she left.
Nina helped you into your blazer, running her thumb along your cheek with a smile.
“I never thought I’d see Kaz Brekker married,” she said. “But hey, I guess stopping you from getting hatecrimed had it’s benefits, didn’t it?”
You laughed, shrugging.
“I think that we’ll rebuild some of the Slat,” you said. “Make the rooms bigger. Get plaques declaring whos room is whos.”
“A golden plaque with Nina Zenik emblazoned on it?”
“Bolted to your bedroom door, Neens.”
“I love you, Morozova.” She said, trapping you into a tight hug.
“I love you back, Zenik.” You said. “Now, c’mon. I don’t think anyone would take too kindly to me being late for my own bloody wedding, would they?”
--
The wedding was small, taking place close to the entrance of the Little Palace. There were no chairs to sit on, but the few guests you’d invited didn’t mind it whatsoever.
The guest list was fairly small, considering your tight knit little family. Wylan was Kaz’s best man, Your best woman was Nina. The people standing in the small crowd were all familiar faces.
Wylans mother, Marya Hendriks, and Jespers father, Colm Fahey were the oldest there. Among them were Nikolai, Alina, Mal, Genya, Rotty and Specht, and the two members of the Dregs who’d originated the King of the Barrel nicknames. Their names were Terrowin and Kira, and when you caught their eyes, they were beaming at you both.
Jesper was officiating, and as you met his gaze, you remembered how he was practically bouncing off the walls the day that you’d asked him to officiate.
“Okay, now that they’re both here, we can begin!” Jesper couldn’t hide his excitement.
“Mr. Brekker,” Jesper laughed through the words. He’d not called Kaz ‘Mr. Brekker’ unless he was doing so in a jokey context. You knew that, had it been anyone elses wedding, they’d probably have gotten angry at Jesper for giggling through the words, but for you and Kaz, it just added to an already perfect day. “Do you take Y/N as your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do,” he said.
“Mr. Morozova,” Jesper glanced at you, and you met his gaze, having to stifle laughter when you realized just how wide his grin was. How happy he seemed. He looked like he was about to start bouncing off the walls and screaming with joy. “Do you take Kaz as your lawfully wedded husband?”
“Hells yes,” you said, giggling slightly. For a moment, Kaz let his lips lift into a grin. You matched it with your own smile and took his hand into yours.
“You’ve prepared your own vows, so, Mr. Brekker, sir, you go first!” Kaz glanced at Jesper inquisitively, grin still on his face as he started talking and met your eye.
“I’ve loved you as long as I’ve known you,” he said. “And when my heart says something, I’ve learned to listen to it. I love you with my entire heart and so much more, and I hate that I’m not good with words, because that’s all I can say. Nothing else accurately cultivates the feelings I’ve felt for you since that night, when you were broken and bruised underneath that saintsforsaken lamplight. I promise to love you every minute of every day, Brekker.” You’d agreed to change your last name to his. You’d be Y/N Brekker by the end of the night.
“Mr. Brekker,” Jesper said. “Since you’ll be married in a few minutes and I have to get used to that last name on you, you may say your vows!”
“When I was fifteen, I was caught and beat broken by a group of eight eighteen year olds,” you began. “But you saved my ass before I was killed, and it seems as though our relationship has been a series of saves ever since. Kaz Brekker, with the ring I’m about to put on your finger, I’m promising that I’ll do that forever. Please, though, try to avoid getting yourself kidnapped too often, okay?” His chest shook in silent laughter as he nodded.
“The rings, gentlepeople?” Jesper asked, Nina passed you the ring you’d slip into Kaz’s finger, and Wylan passed Kaz the one he’d put onto yours.
“Put them on,” Jesper said. You and Kaz both glanced at him once more, meeting each others eye thereafter, grinning and shaking your heads. It’d become very clear to you that the twenty four year old who you’d recruited to officiate your wedding was damn near close to letting out an excited squeal.
Kaz put the ring onto your ring finger and you did the same for him, waiting for Jespers next words as you took a half a step closer to Kaz.
“Kiss, you idiots!” Jesper said. Kaz laughed, pulling you close and pressing a kiss to your forehead.
He’d kiss you like nothing else later in the evening, when the only thing to bug you was a lamp that you’d left on, but you both agreed that a forehead kiss would be as far as you’d go in front of others. Kisses, to Kaz, were personal, and you respected and loved that about him.
“Saints, bless this fuckin’ union!” Jesper shouted. You glanced at Alina, who shot you a thumbs up and a nod as the party part of the wedding kicked off.
Terrowin and Kira were the first people that you and Kaz talked to.
“Did you secure it?” He asked.
“The property?” Terrowin was a Zemeni boy, with skin dark as night and eyes as warm as the sun.
“Or the trip?” Asked Kira, a girl from Shu Han with hair black as the feathers on a crow and blue eyes as cold as the Fjerdan ice.
“The property, first and foremost,” he said. “Did you get it? Did you give it the name I asked you to?”
“Yes, and yes,” said Terrowin. “Beside The Silver Six is a bookstore called Page Eighty-Three. It’s scheduled to open in the fall.” Your eyes widened as you made the connection.
“Page eighty-three?” You asked, smirk on your lips. Kaz shrugged.
“And the request?”
“The line from the poem will be put on the wall behind the clerks counter,” Kira said. “Just as you requested.”
“And the trip?”
“Your boat for Novyi Zem leaves in two days, Boss,” Kira said. “Two bells in the afternoon. It’s directly routed to Coftons docks.” Kaz nodded.
“Thank you,” he said. “We’ll see you when Page Eighty-Three opens.”
“Damn right we will,” you said. Terrowin and Kira laughed as they walked away.
You glanced around the room, spotting Jesper and Wylan perched at a piano, playing the music that everyone was dancing to. Marya and Colm dancing close to them. Nina and Zoya dancing like idiots and laughing throughout. Mal and Inej making conversation and Genya and Alina heading your way.
“Congrats, you two,” Genya said. “Can I expect to see you both tanned and rested up when you get back from Novyi Zem?”
“You’ll be in Ketterdam?” You asked. Genya nodded.
“For a couple of months, to make sure that your Jesper friend doesn’t colossally fuck things up while your friend Inej is doing her thing on the open ocean,” Alina said. “I’m there to visit for a bit, under the radar.”
“Thank you, Alina,” he said. “Thank you both. For everything that you’ve done in these past years.”
“No biggie, Brekker,” Alina said. “I don’t know you that well, but I see how happy you make Y/N, and he’s like a little brother. I care about his happiness.”
“You two are absolutely bloody adorable,” Genya said. “Now, back to my question, will you be tan, or at the very least, well rested, upon your return?”
“Kaz is pale,” you said. “He’ll burn like a crisp. Me? I don’t really know. I guess it depends.”
“We’ll be well rested,” Kaz said. “He’s a darkling. He can create shadow. I fully intend to use that to keep the sun out in the mornings.”
“I won’t do whatever you ask of me!” You quipped.
“You had no issue with that last night,” he said, raising a teasing eyebrow. “Or this morning!”
“Mal was right!” Alina shouted, her and Genya bursting into giggles. “Damn it, I hate it when that happens!” You laughed.
You took another glance around you, spotting your friends.
No, wait. Scratch that.
Not your friends.
Your family.
Your family was having a good time, eating, talking, dancing, laughing. They were enjoying themselves and congratulating you as you talked to Alina and Genya.
Kaz had an arm around your waist, his cheek pressed against the side of your head as his other hand gently turned your wedding ring around on your finger. He was talking to people without arguing with them. He was holding you like you were the only thing that mattered to him.
Your life was perfect.
Kaz was yours, you were his, and your life was full.

My August playlist is finished and while it does unfortunately begin with Tool it also has two of Elvis’ gospel songs on it so please believe me when I say it takes a turn! Everything you could ever want over three hours of music from 70s christian hippie cult music to a funky remix of Also Sprach Zarathustra to Ante Up.
If you’re interested in getting these emailed to you instead of having them mysteriously appear and clog up your dash, I’ve started a tinyletter you can subscrine to at tinyletter.com/grimelords
but in the meantime,
listen here
Lateralus - Tool: Tool is on streaming now and they've got a new album out and so it's a very nice time to reinterrogate a band that meant a lot to teenaged me that i have almost completely exorcised from my life since. What's interesting firstly is how much better it is to consume their music digitally than it ever was in any physical format. They apparently resisted making it available for so long for nebulous reasons of artistic control and intention, wanting a say in how their music is listened to - they design these long and overwrought albums to be experienced as a whole. My contention is that as a whole album, start-to-finish, is one of the worst ways to listen to this band. Tool have maybe 12 great songs across four albums and every single album is around 70-80 minutes, pushing the limit of the CD. Which means for every great song there's at least two ambient interludes, Bill Hicks samples, 90s alt comedy bits (Die Eir Von Satan is just menacing music and a menacing voice reading out a weed cookie recipe in german, now that's what I call comedy) that really add nothing to the experience of the album on a casual listen. Being actually able to listen to these songs on their own, and playlist them and pull them apart from the mire is so refreshing and makes experiencing this extremely exhausting band actually pleasant for once. That's not to say ambient interludes and sketches and whatever aren't worth it, I absolutely love that shit and a lot of my favourite albums are absolutely chock full of that sort of thing - just like, don't make me do it every time. Their new album seems to reflect this at least a little bit, with the more overarching themes and arcs of the previous albums replaced by more singular and self-contained long songs interspersed with dedicated 2 minute interlude tracks. The runtime blows out to an hour and a half unrestrained by physical limits but it seems to contain more actual music and less funny than any other Tool album which is a welcome change. I'm still lukewarm on the album itself, it seems to just be a complete rehashing of the ideas on 10,000 Days (to the point of almost note-for-note repetition of some old riffs and themes) which is a bit disappointing considering how long they've apparently been working on it. I'll give it more time because Tool albums always unfold over multiple listens but for now they kind of just sound like the dad-rock version of a once extremely edgy 90s band - which I guess they are now so that makes sense. As for Lateralus, I think it's their best song. The perfect combination of Joe Rogan spirit science woo-woo sacred geometry fibonacci sequence 'open your mind' bullshit and good old fashioned riffs, it's the best of both halves of Tool and great starting point if you've never listened to this band and are interested in becoming insufferable.
Mars For The Rich - King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard: This album is so good and it's finally converted me to being a full time King Gizz guy so look out for a lot more of that in the future. It's a thrash metal concept album about ecological collapse forcing the rich to flee to mars and the poor to flee to venus where they lose their minds and fly into the fire. I spent a little while the other day obsessing over the insane vocal leap in this absolutely incredible song when he jumps down an 11th on 'mars for the riiiiiiich' somehow effortlessly.
Pattern Walks - Cloud Nothings: The interplay between Cloud Nothings second and third albums is something I think about a lot. Attack On Memory is a visceral experience of depression and living in your own head where Here And Nowhere Else is about being able to finally move past it, and living with it. There's a good quote from the singer on the Genius page for this song where he says "It was almost a response to “Wasted Days” on the last record. It ends with “I thought I would be more than this” over and over and this one ends with “I thought” over a beautiful bit of music which is an easy way to explain the way I was thinking when I was writing this record. I wasn’t as depressed as I was when I was making the last album. Before, I felt like nobody liked the band and I was doing it for three years. I was not in a good place. Now, I had more time to think about why I felt that way. It’s a positive song."
M.E. - Metz: Metz put out a B-sides and rarities album a couple of weeks ago and then they put out this Gary Numan cover on it's own for some reason. It's very very good! I love just putting a generally harder edge on it without taking anything away from the spirit of the original. I also, somehow, didn't realise that Where's Your Head At by Basement Jaxx was a Gary Numan sample until I heard this cover so we're all learning every day.
The Ocean And The  Sun - The Sound Of Animals Fighting: Here's what's good: having the last third of your song just be a monotone voice reading from a CrimethInc anarchist zine over swirling guitar ambience. The drums are so good in this, Chris Tsagakis makes me want to muscle through the ska and listen to RX Bandits more, he’s just that good. The extremely crunchy part in the chorus especially, it switches through like three different distortions and sounds absolutely great. I’m a big fan of anyone that can make a very straightforward groove like the main one here really work just by absolutely leaning into it.
Uzbekistan - The Sound Of Animals Fighting: Uzbekistan is the most out-there and wild song on this album which was sort of mostly a way back into post-hardcore for TSOAF after Lover, The Lord Has Left Us.. which was perhaps a little too-out there for most. (seven minute closing track of a guy singing John Cage's Experimental Music essay over formless tabla and mandolin). The drums alone in this are worth it. The way they transition in and out of the super distorted electronic parts is so good. This song fortunately also has a section where someone recites poetry over electronic noise and a second voice whispers 'who holds your strings? wake up..." over the top near the end. I will love and defend dum-dum pretentious music until the day I die.
Gangsta - Tune-Yards: I love Tune-Yards and I'm incredibly interested in the way she interrogates whiteness. It's a complicated thing to get into in this playlist post but when she first turned up, a lot of people assumed she was african american just by the sound of her voice and music - it reaches and pulls from a lot of african music in a very postmodern sort of way and when people found out she was white, straight, cis and from New England it kind of felt like a betrayal for some people. On her 2018 album I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life she digs into it a lot in a way that becomes almost uncomfortable for what is ostensibly a pop album. An NPR article about it at the time said "Ever the student, the Smith-educated Garbus, who writes most of Tune-Yards' lyrics, designed an anti-racist curriculum for herself. She attended a six-month anti-racist workshop at the East Bay Meditation Center. She read the work of noted anti-racist educator Tim Wise and explored the activism of Standing Up for Racial Justice, a nationwide, progressive activism network dedicated to "moving white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority.". That's a lot. This song, Gangsta, from her 2011 album when all the hype was fresh feels like a pretty early look into the mindset she'd later fully fledge out of interrogating white identity and cultural appropriation while also participating in it. The lyrics are simple but they get to a simple point, "What's a boy to do if he'll never be a rasta?" is basically making the same point as Ras Trent by The Lonely Island except it's asking where else does Ras Trent fit? Can a white guy participate in anything like that in a way that's not cultural appropriation, and how can a culture like that participate in the larger world without being appropriated? It's 2013 tumblr discourse but it's still churning for a reason I suppose.
Ante Up (feat. Busta Rhymes, Teflon & Remi Martin) - M.O.P: An all time great Violence Song, in the same genre as Knuck If Ya Buck and X Gon Give It To Ya. Opening with "'this shit feel like a whole entire world collapsed" is such an insane way to open a song but the absolute whirlwind of threats that follows makes it feel warranted. "Fuck hip-hop, rip pockets, snatch jewels" is sooo good. I don't even care about this song I am just straight up robbing you. The absolute power in the rhythm of the overlapping getemGETEMgetem hitemHITEMhitem part is just so, so strong. It's like a VR experience of being fucking robbed.
Awake (feat. JPEGMAFIA) - Tkay Maidza: It seems like Tkay is finally nailing down her sound and she’s absolutely killing it. She’s been through a few different styles since she started out and now she’s really hit on something that’s very distinctly her with this and her other new song Flexin and I cannot wait for the album.
Big Head - Ms. Jade: Ms Jade had one album in 2002 and then basically disappeared which is a shame because she's got a very interesting approach. The star of the show is as usual, Timbaland. The man is a singular voice somehow making the tabla and a wikiwiki noise his signature sound. I love the drone of the raps interspersed with the vocal spikes and I love the chorus as the gospel vocals surge up from underneath. This whole song is just completely bizzare in its construction in a way that works perfectly and feels strangely.
Titanium 2 Step - Battles: Battles are finally back and I’m fucking bouncing off the walls. They’re a two piece now and it does not seem to have slowed them down at all which is very exciting. I can’t think of any band that has ever continued with only half of their original members and also moved forward radically every time. Everything about this song is great: the super strength drums, the hypercolour guitar and the vocals that are just screaming absolutely whatever you like whenever you like. It feels closest to Ice Cream, and Gloss Drop in general more than La Di Da Di but i’m so excited to see how the new album sounds - and how they adapt their old material live now that there’s only two of them.
Dancing Is The Best Revenge - !!!: I’ve never actively listened to !!! for no good reason, but plenty of times in my life I’ve heard a song playing and been like damn what the FUCK is THIS?! and it always turns out to be !!!. This is yet another example.
Skitzo Dancer (Justice Remix) - Scenario Rock: The first clap in this is one of the best sounds ever. Right after 'so you think you've seen and heard it all' everything drops out of the mix for this one very comedy clap and it makes me smile every time. The rhythm of the Disco!... Disco! Disco! part near the end is one of those things that's just always playing in the back of my mind, which as far as constant reminders go it's not the worst. I've also over the last week or so been a big fan of this 11 year old youtube video I found of some guy covering the bass on this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0DLAUaV3f8
16:56 - Danger: Danger had a new album this year that I don't think I gave enough attention to because I relistened and it's very good. He spends the majority of it refining his original sound but it's such a distinct and original niche that it works out great. The songs are so densely layered and frankly just sound so beautiful! Which is a strange thing to say about 80s inspired electro but it just does. The strings and timpani in this about halfway through are just a gift as well, I love it.
Also Sprach Zarathustra - Deodato: As part of my ‘thinking about Elvis’ I was looking up a live album of his called Aloha From Hawaii Via Sattelite which has a very good cover which doubles as an illustration of how my proposed international peacekeeping satellite will function, projecting an immense Elvis themed blanket of darkness over ‘troublemaker’ regions to immerse them in an eternal freezing night until they’ve settled down. Anyway his entrance music for this this concert in Hawaii is Also Sprach Zarathustra, which is a very very funny thing to do and I think gives an appropriate measure of his status at the time. When I told my girlfriend about this she directed me to this bonkers jazz funk version of it by Deodato which deservingly won a grammy in 1974 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
Hollywood Forever Cemetary Sings - Father John Misty: I’ve resisted listening to Father John Misty for a long time because he just seems like a real asshole. A big brain man genius that saw what Lana Del Rey was doing and thought “what if.. me?”. But I can’t deny this song, it’s absolutely magical and as far as songs about fucking in a cemetery go it’s definitely one of the most singable.
Remember / Medicine Man - Yma Sumac: In reading about the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and who was buried there, I learned about Yma Sumac. Yma Sumac was a Peruvian soprano with one of the most incredible voices I've ever heard who was an absolutely huge deal in the 50s when Americans were clamouring for the exotic, real or imagined. She made extremely good mambo music and claimed to be descended from the last Incan emperor. Her popularity faded after the 50s and then for an unknown reson in 1971, ten years since her last album, she made this rock album. It is insane. It's the best example of 'voice as an instrument' that I've ever heard. She is making every kind of sound possible with a human voice and her range seems completely limitless. She's just as comfortable in a piercingly high whistle register as she is in deep guttural growls. About 2 minutes into Remember she just straight up jumps four octaves in a row just to flex. She also sings in a way in the second verse of Medicine Man that I've never heard before that sounds like she's blowing out her cheeks and then singing with her mouth almost closed. It's absolutey bizzare and I love it so much.
This Thing - King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard: Listening to the other album that King Gizzard put out this year is really making me appreciate how much of 180 Infest The Rats Nest was for them. This album is basically a Black Keys album of groovy fun songs about fishing for fishies with fantastic harmonica work and it makes it look even more like they just snapped when they did the next one.
The Warrior (feat. Patty Smyth) - Scandal: I've been very passively watching GLOW since the second half of season 2 and now I'm very passively watching season 3 and this song was the opening credits theme for the first episode. It fucking rocks I don't know why they don't just make it the theme song all the time. This sort of 80s hard-rock pop is very good when it's good and extremely bad when it's bad and I wonder if we'll ever see any sort of revival of it once 80s nostalgia nostalgia takes hold in 2030. Being a singer named Patty Smyth is very funny also. She's billed as a feature even though she was in the band because she left to try a solo career as soon as it was released, possibly even before. She is also John McEnroe's wife I just found out. What a life.
A Girl Called Johnny - The Waterboys: I found this song because I was googling to see if it's possibly to get a random album from spotify and instead foumd a guy on rateyourmusic who was generating random rym album pages and then listening to whatever came up if it was on spotify - which seems just as good. This was one of the albums he talked about and he seemed to like it so I listened and I did as well. Sometimes the best way to find new music is throw dice on the internet and see what comes up.
New Year's Eve - City Calm Down: The new City Calm Down is one hundred percent great and I have such admiration for them for making a complete left turn with their sound and sounding like a completely different band since their last album but being equally as great in both forms. It's very inspiring and it's also the second song of the month I've heard for the first time while walking around Richmond that's mentioned Richmond. Very spooky.
Cruel Summer - Taylor Swift: It's fucked up how good Lover is when ME! and You Need To Calm Down were so bad. It feels like they changed direction at the last minute and changed the tracklist dramatically because those two songs seem sort of wildly out of place, along with London Boy. It's so uneven it's basically two albums in one but when it's good it's extremely good. This song is fucking powerful. The way she straight up screams "he looks so pretty like a devil"? Amazing. What a crazy thing to shout. If you're interested I also resequenced Lover and took London Boy off it and it's a far better album in my opinion https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3LN1uAhp8BS8Ms4bgmHiVP
Kelly - Van She: I have no idea why but this is in the opening paragraph of Van She's wiki page: "Their label introduced them as a "new band from Sydney fresh on ideas, fresher than Flavor Flav, fresh like coriander, fresher than the Fresh Prince, fresher than fresh eggs."[2] Despite these claims, the band began with a sound very much rooted in the 1980s, heavy on synthesizer." which really makes me laugh. Van She had a very specific mid-2000s indietronica thing going that was really good as this song proves but they also did a bunch of remixes under the name Van She Tech that are very out there and completely different to the main band. Their remix of UFO by Sneaky Sound System I'm sure I've yelled about in these posts before, it's absolutely phenomenal. Anyway I guess what I'm saying is get you a band that can do both.
Shadow - Wild Nothing: Somehow I missed Wild Nothing back when they were a big thing and only listened to them this month. I listened to this whole album while I was doing housework and when it finished I though 'that was nice' and could not remember a single thing about it. That's the beauty of shoegaze! I had to listen to it about five more times for it to stick and now I'm getting more and more out of it every time, I love it.
Heaven's On Fire - The Radio Dept.: Years ago when I was having a major 'depressive episode' for about a fucking year I listened to this album Constantly and as a result for a very long time I couldn't listen to it without inviting megawatts of bad vibes back into my brain. Thankfully through hard work and time passing it appears I've fully healed my assosciations with this album which is fantastic news because it is delightful start to finish and worth getting obsessed with again.
Crystalised - The xx: It's nice to see news articles posted almost every day about which albums are turning ten years old. It makes me feel one million years old and viewing the world from a television in my hermit's cave. It feels hard to overstate just how much quiet influence the xx have had over the music landscape since 2009. Without The xx we don't have Royals and without Royals we don't have You Need To Calm Down, so. Something beautiful of theirs that I think is sad hasn't caught on in the intervening years is the idea of writing romantic duets when duets had been out of fashion for so long. They wrote a whole album of them and continue to! There's a beautiful contextual depth to it, in that it's two queer people singing not exactly to each other but with each other. In an interview they've called it 'singing past each other' which is a very nice way to put it.
Aspirin - Tropical Fuck Storm: I really appreciate the continual development of the guitars in Tropical Fuck Storm where they sound so pencil-necked and reedy in these angular little melodies and then sometimes explode into thick cacophanous howls, but what's especially good is in songs like this when they don't explode and instead just sort of sprout tendrils and crawl around each other. They're really drilling down on a very singular and very unsettling sound and I really love it. It is also a very interesting feeling to be walking around Richmond listening to this album for the first time and having him mention Richmond. Spooky even.
Pasta - Angie McMahon: "My bedroom is a disaster / my dog has got kidney failure" is an all-time great opening lyric for me. I love the way this song kicks up from the doldrums, like forcing yourself to do something just so you've done something today. Angie McMahon is so great and I'm getting more and more out of her album every time.
If I Had A Hammer - Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash: The way this song is performed here is so fucking cool. The guitar tone, June's voice and the general energy of it is just absolutely electric. It feels like Highway 61 Bob Dylan where it's still folk but it's got this massive power in it. The solo fucking rips in that very old fashioned way and when it finishes and that riff comes back in by itself it's just great.
Elvis Presley Blues - Gillian Welch: I was thinking about this song because I too was thinking about Elvis. I thought for a long time that the lyrics to this were ‘didn’t he die?’ and not ‘day that he died’ and I think I prefer mine more. Idly thinking about Elvis like “whatever happened to that guy? Must be old now. Wait, didn't he die? No way to know I suppose.”
Everything Is Free - Sylvan Esso: Rolling Stone had a very good article and interview about how this song about napster has had a resurgence and remained relevant through the streaming era which is a very good read. I love the original and really this version is very similar except for the one key difference where they really dig into the anger and frustration at the heart of it in the 'fucking sing it yourself' line.  https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/gillian-welch-everything-is-free-courtney-barnett-father-john-misty-725135/
It's Nice To Have A Friend - Taylor Swift: This is the strangest song on Lover and one of the best, I absolutely love it. It's a very old fashioned kind of Taylor Swift Love Story type song but it also has a a fucking trumpet reveille in the middle, so that really spices it up a bit. I also keep accidentally listening to this backwards - there's a few phrases like when she sings 'it's nice to have a friend' where the 'friend' lands on the offbeat but is accented like it should be ON the beat and because of the way the music is in this where it's just the steady pulse it's hard to tell whether the chime is supposed to be on the beat or on the offbeat. It feels like it sort of slides back and forth throughout the song depending on what everything else is doing around it. I don't know if that's intentional or not but it's a very interesting effect. This song is also, in my estimation, about a woman and is detailing a fantasy Taylor Swift is having where she can come out to the world with no fuss and enjoy a simple fairytale love story as a gay woman.
Psalm 42 / Chant For Pentecost - The Trees Community: I have a mental list of albums I google every few months to see if they've been added to streaming and by the grace of god one of them finally has been. Years ago I used to listen to this almost every night to fall asleep and I think it brainwashed me slightly in a delightful way, and now I finally have it back again! This is proper hippie music: a bunch of long haired new york christians who drove around the country in the early 70s in a school bus playing their elaborate and beautiful music for anyone who wanted to hear it. The multilayered, multi-movement construction of these songs is completely entrancing to me. It's not a hollow beauty, but one that brings new meaning to old words in the way they stretch and snap and waver throughout the song, moving past each other and through each other as it moves forward. I absolutey love it. Chant For Pentecost is a good illustration of the other side of them, a short song that starts sweet and turns almost maniacal. There's a wild-eyed feeling to the harmonies and the way this melody sits on a single tone for such long stretches before the frankly scary conclusion.
In My Father's House / Working On The Building - Elvis Presley: The backing vocals in these, and especially the bass vocals are so incredible. The way they work in the second verse of Working On The Building is so great, Elvis is the lead vocal but the middle harmony and somehow it just works perfectly. The harmonies is In My Father's House are amazing. The bass solo is mind blowing and the part about halfway through where Elvis swallows the mic and says "jesus died upon the cross [VRRMER] sorrow" is very funny. It's got it all.
The Greatest - Lana Del Rey: Norman Fucking Rockwell is an absolute masterpiece and this is the best song on it. Lana has always had a knack for this apocalyptic feeling but this is a whole other level.  https://www.stereogum.com/2056565/lana-del-rey-norman-fucking-rockwell-review/franchises/premature-evaluation/ The Stereogum writeup for this album was really great, and really nailed my opinion of her whole character thing as well, but he described this song as her version of that video that Ted Turner commissioned for CNN to play at the end of the world and it's really a perfect description. The part at the end where she says 'Kanye West is blonde and gone' is so chilling to me. Like Kanye losing the plot makes sense because he's only a few months ahead of the rest of us. He’s been a thought and culture leader for so long and it only makes sense that he’s spun off into space in these last days before it all wraps up.

2021 Planner Set Up.
I am really late with my 2021 planner set up post this year. Like most people I am struggling to muster the energy to do normal things. I bought everything from The Journal Shop this year, pre-ordering the items I wanted. I am becoming very set in the style of planners I use and how I use them, but as I do most years I added something else in there to mix things up and experiment a little.
As usual this post is a little long so you may want to grab a tea.
Midori 2021 Planner - B6 Slim.
This is the experiment for the year and could be a keeper (not that I have high hopes or anything). The Midori 2021 planner has a few pre-printed pages that categorise this a planner. The first two pages show the year at a glance, you get 2021 on the left hand page and 2022 on the right.
Then you move into monthly views starting with Dec 2020 and ending with January 2022. The aesthetic of this notebook in completely minimal. The calendar doesn't dominate the spread, but gives you plenty of margin room to doodle, add notes or decorate.
And that’s it, after this you have lined paper with a handful of blank pages at the end of the planner. The idea with the lined pages is there are eight sections, each section highlighted with a slightly bolder ruled line. There is one section per day, all equal in size and then one spare section for notes. There is one orange bookmark with this planner and a few stickers to mark the year or to write some basic information on. I have added a clear plastic cover to add a bit of additional protection.
The purpose of this planner is to record cultural things. Thoughts on books I am reading, quotes I have come across and want to remember, interesting tidbits from podcasts. I consume in numerous different ways like most people, but I want to find somewhere that is dedicated to capturing this information. A planner serves this purpose well, rather than scattered through various notebooks. It becomes a marker and a reminder of my year in a different way to be kept and stored for future reference. Knowing I found a quote on a given year, at a particular time can only add more context and perhaps help to signify why something resonated with me even more.
Hobonichi Weeks.
This is my third year using this small and functional planner. The Hobonichi Weeks is the planner that is very similar to what I would have used many moons ago but you get all the Japanese goodness and flourishes that you can’t buy anywhere else. I was on the hunt for the Bow & Tie: Campsite version but this was, and still is, out of stock. Instead I went for the Cherry Blossom edition as the colour seemed nice and it contrasted the green I have been using this year. I have a clear cover which I have used for three years and it’s still holding up well.
My use is very simple. I put appointments in here and track all the things that dominate the day to day. Monthly calendars hold all the upcoming appointments, school term times, anniversaries, birthdays etc. Usually on a Sunday I sit down and write out the next weeks tasks on the weekly pages. This helps my mind engage with what’s coming up and plan ahead. I use the right hand side to write down any tasks for the week I need to remember. There is nothing fun or fancy in here, this is purely functional and organisational. I've used the Weeks like this for years now and it works perfectly.
Hobonichi Techo English Edition.
This is new for 2021, but not new to me. I decided to try this out again as I enjoy the tomoe river paper and the smaller size should be able to fill out each day. My plans for this aren’t that fleshed out, but the idea is to capture something from my day using less words and more drawings, doodles and cartoon style imagery. I think after 365 days this could be a really interesting thing to look back on.
Travelers Company Weekly + Memo Refill.
I have used this insert now for years and it is by far my favourite. I get to use fountain pens, I decorate...sometimes, using washi, stickers, pens etc. And I record all the small things.
Over the years I have adapted and added a few things, one being a weekly gratitude area on the notes side of the page where I jot down things that I should be/am grateful for. In 2020 this was definitely needed and helped to reduce anxiety and ground myself.
At the front of this notebook where you get the month views, I write down what I read, watch and learn. For the books I put a start and end date, same if I watch a TV series. Anything learned could be a Skillshare course, an interesting online learning I have had to do. I then note at the top of each month how many of each I have done. I really like this monthly overview and it has promoted my idea to have a dedicated planner for this sort of information, expanding on it a little more.
Overall thoughts.
As usual this feels like a lot of planners, but they all serve a purpose for me. The Hobonichi Techo is the planner that will require a little thought and so may be a harder commitment. The other three on this list are either tried and tested, being fully fledged habits now, or so simple I can’t see it being a problem.
I would like to be positive and hope that 2021 holds more hope than 2020 did, but I think it'll be much more of the same. Waves of increased Covid-19 cases leading to lockdowns, school closures and increased pressures on people. My planners give me a base and somewhere to come back to. My 2020 planners show those first waves of lockdown, highlight the sense of fear, the stress of working and combining childcare, the moments of loneliness. But they also show me what films I have enjoyed, my book choices at different times tell their own story and in 2020 I read far more than any other year. They are small highlights of my year, the things I have achieved that could otherwise have been forgotten in a year that has been hard.

2017 Book List
BACK AT IT AGAIN. JUMP IN THE CAR!!! I’M STILL READING A SHIT TON OF BOOKS!!!!
1. How It Works: The Cat. 2.5/5 stars. I read this at a book store in Bergen because my brother laughed while he read it. I picked it up and it was ok?? I don’t understand why people who write about cats always, ALWAYS talk about how much of an asshole they are and how they don’t truly love you. And I just sit there like, have you ever owned a fucking cat??? Some parts of the book was super cute but I hate the trope that cats are “assholes.” yeah they’re dicks sometimes. But they’re not assholes 24/7 unless you’re an asshole to your cat.
2. The Greenest Island. 3.5/5 stars. This is another small book that I’ve been meaning to read for a couple of months now. It was pretty interesting and like Mrs. Dalloway I read last year, I’m not sure if I want to sell it or keep it. It’s beautifully written, the story is strong, but some of the characterization is just sort of annoying. Like I get that it’s a very real sensation and issue a young couple who get pregnant WAY TOO SOON without knowing each other. But only a man would think of something so drastic as the end in reference to raising a child.
3. Letters for Lucardo: 5/5 stars. I saw this comic advertised early in 2016 and I’ve been watching the project closely. I help funding the gofundme and I bought a download and a signed copy of the physical book. The story about a 60 year old man falling in love with a Vampire stuck at the age of 36 was SO INTRIGUING plus the artist had a webcomic which I absolutely adored so I knew not only would the art be excellent but the storyline would be solid. This is one of four volumes and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. The story line was so cute, the art was beautiful, the smut was *mwah* beautiful. But the best part was that it left me wanting for me and I can’t WAIT until the next three volumes are here. Support your local tumblr artist and enjoy some gay vampire storylines with well drawn wrinkly aging men. 10/10, 100/100 please read and enjoy.
4. A Special Study Set of Fine Art Reproductions. 4/5 stars. A little black spiral bound book of black and white copies of famous art works. It’s cute, it’s a good bite sized art book to get the gist of Western Art history. I knocked it down because the art pieces are in black and grey when I know for a FACT some art pieces are in color. So that was a bummer. But overall a nice rendition of some of the classics.
5. Alphonse Mucha: Masterworks. 5/5 stars. I bought this book probably 2 years ago? I’m in a reading funk right now and flipping through art books seems pretty doable. This book is chalked full of history of Mucha while I will read later. But the art quality is excellent, the sizes are big enough to view with pleasure. This is a excellent excellent book full of his art work. I love it. It makes me feel better for the fact I’ve only been drawing girls for the last year because I love drawing delicate features and strong women. If Mucha can just draws women for most of his career, I don’t have to feel guilty in only drawing women for a year.
6. Assassin’s Creed: A Visual History. 5/5 stars. Ok I’m going to repeat this over and over again. But I’m such a fan of the AC series, even if the latest editions have been a u t t e r let down. But I have to admit flipping through this book I got emotional. AC was such a fun series for me when I started and it helped me through a manic depression I had after a very serious illness almost 3 years ago. I don’t pretend the history is accurate or the plot lines are all there, but they means so much to me. As a history lover to the point I’m getting a Minor in college in history. I’ll always enjoy my AC games, no matter how cringe worthy and disappointing some of them end up becoming. Shout out to my boys (and girls) of the assassin creed order. <3
7. The Art of Howl’s Moving Castle: 5/5 stars. I’ve had this book for a long time, when my childhood best friend and I would hang out nearly every day and sleep overs every weekend. She gave me this book a few months after I watched Howl’s Moving Castle because I was so enchanted by the movie. Howl’s Moving Castle is a favorite movie, book, and soundtrack. This art concept book is beautiful, it’s like a novelization of the movie without any dialogue. The back is the FULL script, there’s concept art, and fully fledged art story boards. If you’re a big fan of Howl’s Moving Castle, this is a great book to have in your library.
8. Tango! The Dance, The Song, The Story. 5/5 stars. My father lived in Argentina for awhile so he would make dishes growing up of delicious food. I love the tango, it’s so beautiful and down right seductive. So of course finding this book for 4 dollars I had to have it. It has photography, drawings, posters, female tango singers, the history of the tango. It’s chalked full of excellent information and it’s really enjoyable to flip through.
9. Why Cats Paint: A Theory of Feline Aesthetics. 5/5 stars. I bought this book for my birthday last year because it was absolutely silly. It features “Cat Artists” and their aesthetics and their art pieces. Warning there are mummified cats in the beginning of the book which can be upsetting. This book is really goofy and the people who write it are serious but in a fun way? It’s a great book to read like today when I’m stuck in the house because of bad weather and having my own two cats it makes me curious to see if I could make my kiddos paint like those kitties in the book.
10. Life: The Classic Collection. 5/5 stars. A decent sized photography book of the most recognizable Life photographs. Not to forget there are 25 extra prints available for you in the book you can take out and frame. I love editorial photography and seeing the most iconic photos throughout the century. Idk man if you like photography and Life Magazine this is a great book to have.
11. Fashion: A History from the 18th to the 20th century. 5/5 stars. Beautiful book. Beautiful clothes.
12. The Pharos Gate. 4.5/5 stars. I saw this book at Barnes and Noble early in 2016 and the intrigue had me thinking about it for awhile. I bought it for christmas, waiting to read it in right time. Early on this week I went to my favorite second hand book store and found out it had 3 books before this one. The Pharos Gate is the final book in a series but it can be read by itself. To be honest I think if I had to read the three books before this I would have become bored. That’s three books worth of people trying to find each other but keep missing connections, that’s infuriating. But this book was lovely and the letter writing kind of reminds me of the letters my best friend and I send to one another. She just went back to school and I think she would really enjoy this book so I’m going to send it to her with my own letter attached. I think she’ll like that.
13. Pirateology. 4/5 stars. These series were my SHIT as a kid. Dragonolgy, Greek Myths, Pirateology. While Hastings went under and into ruins, I found this book for super super cheap. I have certain niches I love to learn/read/aesthetic. Regency, 1950s murder mystery (Looking at you 007), Westerns, weird vintage novels, and pirates. I love the history the book gives you, but as an adult the information is sort of lacking. This is a book definitely for kids, the plot line throughout the guide book is meh it’s ok but it doesn’t capture you, and the interactive bits are the best. I just wish there was more about specific pirates but other than those complaints this is a great book.
14. Viking Poetry: Of Love and War. 5/5 stars. I went to Norway for New Years and I didn’t buy a lot of souvenirs. I mostly bought key chains. I think I only bought two books, maybe even just the one. I bought this viking poetry at THE famous viking ship in Oslo. It was very very cool. I read this book today because I don’t feel well, I want to go to bed but I know I shouldn’t. I have too much homework to do but I’m not motivated to read. The viking poems are unique as they are pretty. I was sometimes disappointed they didn’t have great rhyming schemes but you have to remember these were written in various old languages and then translated into modern day English. If you want to read what the vikings considered poetry, this is a great introduction without reading the giant lores.
15. The Elements of Style: 5/5 stars. Oh my god it’s been so long I completely forgot what my book tag was. February has been crazy for me. I got a internship, I dropped a class because of stress, I’ve been stressed out like crazy, I’ve been doing a lot of school work. I felt like I’ve had no time to read for pleasure. I actually didn’t read this book for please (half pleasure) but for work. It was actually a lot of fun. We studied this book in AP Literature when I was a senior in highschool and I wanted to have it for myself as a writer, but also it’s excellent for my ambitions to become an editor. The writing is a little hard, sometimes I’d read a whole page without really absorbing what was on it. But it was interesting and you can read White’s frustration with writers with certain rules they ignored. I actually loved the add on V chapter by Strunk which said that English rules are extremely important but take in mind the language of your time and how you write. Your voice is important. Which I found very important and also felt like an eye opener with Editing for my job. I’ve been wary of making sure not to change anyone’s voice but also trying to keep with proper English rules. It’s been a lot of fun.
16. The Last Wish: Introducing the Witcher: 5/5 stars. This book took me me almost 2 full months to read. I’ve been so busy. I first started reading this book before my trip to Norway, took it all the way across Europe, back and I finally finally finished it today. I don’t know why it took me so long? I absolutely loved it. I played Witcher 3 last semester and really really loved the story line and characters. My sister-in-law loves the books so I gave it a try! I would definitely recommend this book if you like spins on fairytales and medieval magical worlds. I had a lot of fun but I’m glad I can finally pick a new book.
17. Shackleton: Antartic Odyssey: 4/5 stars. Today has been a recovery day and I’m, emotionally dead/it comes in waves. So I spent like 5 hours in a bath today and read this comic. The art is really good, the story is super intriguing! I was in Norway this last December and we went to a arctic ship museum because Norway was the first to reach the South Pole. But the author even said himself the comic needs to be at least 300 pages but his hand would fall off. And I wish he did do 300 pages. The story was short and choppy. I know it’s selfish, but as a reader I wish he did do his main goal because he had the perfect art style for this comic. Either way, I did enjoy.
18. Creole Folktales: 5/5 stars. If you love mythology, this book is pretty great. If you love Louisiana, black folklore, this book is pretty great. It doesn’t have 5 stars on amazon or goodreads because I think people take issue with the writing or they’ve heard these stories before. This was my first introduction to Creole folktales and I have to say i loved it. The nostalgia of reading different myths is pretty great plus the storylines can be hilarious to kind of terrifying. The author says to read this story by night and I have to agree. I read it all in one sitting this evening and I wouldn’t change that experience.
19. I Shall Not Be Moved: 5/5 Stars. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a poetry book. Since February I think. Sundays are usually my comic or poetry days and I was in the mood for some poetry. I was going to read this book for Black History Month for my book club (if you wanna join hit me UPP) but February was so crazy and stressful that I couldn’t read anything. So this time I did read a Black Poetress but just for National Poetry month. I loved this book, super powerful and moving. I’ll probably be thinking about this poetry book for a long long time.
20. Artists and their cats: 3/5 stars. Being stressed out in my finals week means I want to do a lot of book things just so I can procrastinate. I bought this book as a Christmas present for myself. I'm slightly disappointed in it because the book is called Artists and their Cats, but it's really more like, A mini biography of artists and oh, some cat photos. I was expecting heart warming stories about their cats. But no. I loved the photos though which make this book conflicting for me.
21. The Monkees comic book: 5/5 stars. Super cute. I feel bad because Mickey was drawn pretty horrible. But I loved the art. The choppy scenes were kind of hard to get into and that 1960s humor can be kind of cringey but I really really enjoyed it.
22. The Art of Drowning: 5/5 stars. So I was thinking this would have completed my Billy Collin’s reading, but apparently I read this book in 2014! How crazy! Well I read it and enjoyed it. That’s all.
23. A Queen’s Journey: 4/5 stars. I’ve been having a lot of heart ache for my birth state as of late. I visited Hawaii this time last year since moving when I was 2 and not remembering a single thing about it. Everything fit and I felt like I was home (when I was in the ocean) and it was such a strange feeling. I’ve been missing it hardcore this last month and so I decided if I can’t go to the Island I’d read a book about Hawaii or a Hawaiian. I’m also a book traveler, I bring books on trips and my favorite souvenirs are books. I’m a person who can remember times and feelings by looking at books. This is one of the books I bought while on the big island and haven’t read until now. For the story itself, I definitely give it a solid 4 stars like most people have. The book is unfinished as the author died while writing it. But I actually love how the book ended, the last chapter is perfect for a finale. But everything leading up is meh. Don’t get me wrong, I flew through this book and found it so much fun but it’s written from the perspective of a white entitled reporter who doesn’t really understand Hawaiians but “loves” them because of the Queen. I would have preferred to have a story told from Queen Lili’uokalani’s perspective but it was a nice read.
24. Lights Out and Away We Go by @naum-e : 5/5 stars. I’ve been following Naume-e for at least a year now and they draw the absolutely cutest/breathtaking spirk doodles on tumblr. When I saw they put up their formula one au book up for sale, I had to get it. They even sent me a sheet of adorable spirk stickers. I love it. The art is so professional, the cover is beautiful! The storyline is short and I wish there was more background and developlement but that’s just me being greedy. Only criticism I would have is that one page would be crisp and saturated black and the next would have a grey tone to it so it wasn’t as sharp. I don’t know if that was due to printing costs or stylistic choice but sometimes it worked, other times it was kind of distracting. Either way I really enjoyed it and loved the art!
(I’ve actually read 44 books but 20 of those are yaoi mangas/I don’t have the energy to type up individual reviews)
25. And Three Makes Tango. 5/5 stars. I’m doing a summer class and this is a book I picked for a 5-7 page project about censored books. And Three Makes Tango is the true story of two male penguins who fell in love at the New York Zoo. They made headlines when the zoo keepers gave them a fertilized egg which made them the first male couple to raise a baby penguin. It’s super cute and the art is adorable and I can’t wait to write this 5-7 page essay on it.
26. Goldfinger. 4.5/5 stars. I really enjoyed this book! Dr. No was kind of a hot mess with a huge octopus, guano, and the girl not being entirely likable. This book was definitely a treat! It may be kind of boring because the first 150 pages is a slow burn of James finding a guy cheating at cards and like 3 chapters dedicated to just him playing golf. But I really really loved this? The only reason why I don’t give this book 5 stars is because of Bond’s very sexist and homophobic views he suddenly stated out of no where. There were a TON of lesbians in this book, Pussy Galore, Tally, and he seemed ok with them except he was disappointed he couldn’t fuck them. And then said lesbians and gays were all sissies who he had no time for (even though Bond is like super, mega gay for James Bond. SUPER MEGA GAY.) and the ending they made the strictly lesbian badass gangster woman say, “Well I’ve never met a real man before.” and UGH. WHY. I would have given it 5 stars if they had just left Pussy Galore’s lesbian nature alone and not justify it with a “She just needs a strong man.” Also I apparently bought this book for me for Christmas 2015 ahah.
27. The Mad Kings & Queens, History’s Most Famous Raving Royals: 4/5 stars. I enjoyed this book. It’s marketed as a reference book and it discussed the insane breeding of The Kings and Queens of Europe. This book should really be called, “Inbreeding fucked me up.” because most of the insane issues came from inbreeding lines and madness from parents and grandparents being passed down to their kiddos. But there were several monarchs where I didn’t believe they fit underneath the “mad” title. Like King Henry VIII was just a pissbaby. And there a handful of monarchs included who just had severe depression and anxiety which affected the way they ruled, it doesn’t mean they’re mad. Other than that, it’s a great little book for a quick overview of Europe’s fucked up royalty.
28. Strike Through The Mask! 2/5 stars. It’s not my favorite poetry book, it had some poems I enjoyed! I bought this from the annual library book sale because it was signed by the author and was super cheap. Though after learning about Peter Viereck, I’m not really sure what I think about him? He’s super conservative and is VERY loud about people being extremist but is sort of seen as an extremist himself. Nothing wrong with that inherently but I’m still not super sure about these poems. A lot of them were about trees talking to humans or other trees. Debating on giving them poetry book to donations because it’s really not my favorite.
29. For the King: 2/5 stars. The premise of the book is quite interesting! It follows the assassin attack on Napoleon in 1800 on Christmas at Midnight. It cause da wave of destruction, death, horror, and a huge police investigation which resulted in more death and conspiracy. The book did not live up the potential. It kept my interest and it had some great writing, but the characters were flat, the main character was whinny, and the plot was a little jumbled. It was also strange because it’s a historical fiction but also murder mystery but you know who did it by chapter 1 and you follow the policeman’s thoughts and instincts to capture the assassins. It’s weird, there were a lot of strangely written sentences, and it was over all a just ok read.
30. The Old Man and the Sea: 2.5/5 stars. There is a lot to enjoy about The Old Man and The Sea. The story is compelling, the relationship between the old man and the boy is pleasant, and Hemingway has a way of using metaphors and descriptions which are breathtakingly beautiful. But there is also a lot to be disappointed in. It’s a lot of rambling, several sentences could have been edited, and the old man was pretty much senile in the way that he fishes. I read it in one day and still processing it. I’m pretty sure there are a few pages that I didn’t really read, I fell asleep the first 60 pages, and the story doesn’t truly touch me in the way classics usually do. But there is also something oddly charming which makes rating this book more difficult than I thought.
31. The Lost Estate: 5/5 stars. This book has been on my shelf for awhile. I bought it because you can design your own cover once you finish the book, so I bought it not expecting the story to be great but at least I can art a book. This is one of the best reads I’ve read in several months! I loved the story! I loved the characters! It felt like a fantastical children’s story with romance, magic, and French school boys. The chapters were short and the main character has such a charm. The only downside is that the story has a weird time lapse where you’re not really sure how old the kids are or how many years have passed. All in all, I’m really thrilled with this book and it’s easily going on my favorite shelf after I draw the cover!
32. Lunch Poems: 4/5 stars. Frank O’Hara’s poetry isn’t like your classical poetry. He’s irreverant which makes reading his stanzas refreshing and different. There were some poems where they were too strange and convoluted for my taste, ones I wished I could be heard out loud, and there wasn’t anything that punched me in the chest with wowing words, but it did inspire me to write my own poem. And for me, that’s the highest compliment of a poetry book, to make you write poems. I really enjoyed 14 of the poems which is a pretty decent amount to like for me. Billy Collins has the highest likes of poetry for me, and Lang Leav having the least amount of poetry I liked in her book Love & Misadventure. Frank O’Hara was a decent medium for me and a nice introduction for anyone who doesn’t particularly care for “flowery” poetry. My favorites were: Cambridge, Poem (1959), How To Get There, Pistachio Tree At Chateau Noir, and Yesterday Down At The Canal.
33. Howl And Other Poems: 6/5 stars. Very rarely do I hold a book to my chest after I finish reading it. The books I remember doing this were The Secret Garden, Shadow of the Wind, Pride and Prejudice, and Howl’s Moving Castle. I can add Howl to my list. I first heard of this revolutionary poetry book in one of my university classes about censorship and banned films and literature. We watched the James Franco movie about the whole trial over Howl, and I thought it was pretty, but I didn’t feel a great pull to the way he read the poems. I decided to pick it up for myself and I read it today all the way through. And reading it for myself was something magical and far more touching than the movie could ever produce. All of the poems were a punch to the gut, made me feel something, made me want to create art, and that’s what poetry is supposed to do for you. I may have found my second favorite poet in Allen Ginsberg. This is definitely on my favorite 2017 reads and also in my top 10 favorite books of all time.
34. Monstress Vol 2: 4.5/5 stars. I agree with the main consensus that the second volume is way better than the first. I actually contemplated getting rid of and stop reading the series because the first volume was very bizarre. But now I’m super invested in it. The story line unfolded in an interesting and made more sense way. The art was gorgeous and dark. THERE WERE SO MANY BADASS WOMEN CHARACTERS. Plus I finally caught on that the cats are called Nekomancer and I’m in love. If you like dark, blood, gore, and creepy storylines, Monstress is a great comic to read.
35. Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century. 5/5 stars. I picked this book up back in 2011. I was browsing Barnes and Noble, looking at their new arrival table. I was in 10th grade, newly in high school, and I had watched the movie Cleopatra in my western civilization class. I loved the writing, bought the book, I remember my mom saying “If I had known who the book was about, I wouldn’t have let you bought it.” and I was enjoying myself. Things happened shortly after that had me pausing from reading the book for 6 years. I decided to try to read it over the summer, had summer school, then my beginning of the semester was too crazy to read this book, and after I dropped from one of my classes, I found I had time to read it. I really loved this book. It’s heart wrenching, you feel the love they had for each other, but you also saw the abuse and tragedy that became their relationship. There are only two notes of importance I would say that is this book’s downfall: 1. The book has minor editorial flaws (commas outside of quotes, periods in parenthesis, Earth wasn’t capitalized). 2. The writers are very much infatuated with Richard and Elizabeth, coming to their defense about the scathing reviews. They did a great job, but it also brings into question just how accurate they can be when they’re so emotionally charged about Richard and Elizabeth. If you want to know more about Richard and Elizabeth, how they came to be, their marriage, and how the marriage fell, this is a great book.
36 + 37: Maus I & II. 5/5 stars. I’ve been wanting to read this collection for years. It has everything I love, history, contrasting colors, and comics. But whenever I found the books, they were full priced and too much for my wallet. Well, a few weeks ago I found the boxset at my local second hand store for 22 bucks. I snatched it. I read the first book on the 29th and the second on the 30th. This, is a heavy story. It’s gut wrenching, it hurts, I nearly cried in book 2, and it’s a poignant story about surviving, the effects of surviving horrible situations, and how it affects your children. The art is beautiful, very symbolic, and doesn't hold back from showing the ugly of WWII. If you want a heavy read to make you think about history and humanity, 100% recommend this comic series.
38. Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit: 4/5 stars. A classic fairy tale book that I read because one of my friends had it on her shelf and I wanted to read it. It’s very cute, very Peter Rabbit esq. but with more danger and violence to it. It’s not my favorite collection, I didn’t get the warm fuzzies from it, but I did fly through the stories. Though my book is so old that it doesn’t have a publication date and I’m slightly terrified that if it’s from the victorian era that it’s laced with arsenic to make the blue color ahah! But it was cute. A very short fairytale that is chalked full of mythologies of forest creatures and how their distinctive features came to be.
39. Sword of Destiny (Witcher 1, but technically 2) 5/5 stars.  I’ve been reading this book since the end of October. I don’t know why, but short story compilation books always take me months to read while James Bond takes me 3 days. I think it’s to do with the pacing and the fact the stories tend to be more condensed and I need to think about a book for at least a day before starting a new one. I really enjoyed this book! Having played the games and adored them, I love the character building and foundations in this book! Baby Ciri warms my heart and I fucking called who her parents were in the prologue which I just realized I actually read this year. Much better than “The Last Wish,” and the angsty Yennefer romance just makes the book with its angst and Geralt just hating everything about his life except for Ciri and Yen.
40. Bing Love: 3/5 stars. I saw a GoFundMe post for this comic book earlier this year and the art is adorable, the plot line got me, and I was so excited to get my copy of this book! I’m torn because on one hand, I love representation and the love story between Hazel and Mari, and the fact the writer took an approach that people had to settle for a fake happiness and how families can be torn apart when you realize they were built on a facade. But there’s a huge pacing problem with this story. It jumps, it skips details, I know this story would have been so much more vibrant with even 20 more pages added to it. Limiting it to 97 pages really killed the vibe of the story. The character development was lackluster, their reactions became unbelievable, and the ending felt so rushed. I would honestly probably give this story 2 stars if it weren’t for the art work making up for where the story lacks.
41. Call Me By Your Name: 5/5 stars. @haremshame for those who don’t know, was my very first, serious love. They’ve been loving Call Me By Your Name and essentially has become the spokesperson on tumblr for the book. They told me to give this book a listen to (which is something I do not do on the regular), gave me a link, and but I was in the middle of the semester. I think maybe more than a week ago I finally started listening to it, how could I not when your first love tells you the story reminds them of us??? And I have to whole heartedly agree. Call Me By Your Name reminds me very much of the excitement of a first love and the everlasting long heart ache that comes when that first love inevitably ends. I loved this story. I wish I picked up the book and read along with Armie Hammer so I could mark all the passages I loved because there were quotations that made me shiver and hum and felt a literal twist in the gut. I’m not entirely sure how this book will go as an experience for other people since I went in to this reading with heavy expectations and knowing it would remind me of Percy and the specialness of our fumbly, young and naive teenage relationship, makes me heavily biased. But the writing is breathtaking, Armie Hammer does a fantastic job, and the story will have you aching in some form or another.

Week 21 Reflective Journal
This week was quite intense, we started initially by brainstorming interview questions as a group in the Monday session. As individuals, we would each write brief descriptions of our creatives, we gave ourselves 20 minutes to complete this. After this time, we would then go round the table and pitch our creative to the rest of the group, this would allow the others to get a good idea of what an individual creative is like and in-turn allow questions to be formulates based on the information provided. The question brainstorming worked quite effectively, we did one creative each and worked from group ideas to create a series of questions to ask. Below is my research into Reuben, my entrepreneurial creative:
Reuben Fletcher
About the company:
Fen and Fletcher Cambridge
fenandfletcher.co.uk
Premium art dealership founded and run by Reuben
Exploring artworks, jewellery and home deco.
Stocking a broad range of styles from many historic eras
Stock includes originals from famous artists such as Banksy, Dave White and Romero Britto
Deals not only in the UK but overseas with buyers in the US too
Operates heavily through the facebook page ‘Fen&Fletcher’
About the creative:
Didn’t attend university, studied art subjects at A-level
Established a website in early 2019, dealing in antiques since —-
Worked in a small corner space in an antiques hall for many years beforehand, buying and selling smaller pieces to fund the shop floor space and to make him money through his teenage years
Spare time sees him restoring valuable guitars which are then sold on at auction etc.
Aspires never to be employed by somebody else, heavily set on becoming a fully fledged entrepreneur
Through completing this research, I found a few questions to ask on my own, though it was definitely useful to get ideas from others in the group too. I ended up with a list of questions and developed on from there. I think the most important part of this brainstorming exercise was to get everybody in the group engaging with each other so we were all on the same page.
The session also saw a big advancement in the project, through the utilisation of the Whatsapp group chat to make plans and set work-based targets to achieve by the start of this week we were able to have all of our creatives selected. This brought on 14 individuals who would be interviewed and photographed, creating a huge bulk of content for our magazine, certainly very exciting to look toward.
On the Monday session, we planned to have a lot of things done for the Friday of that week:
An interview with at least one person
Introductory paragraph of the person (A photo, their name, what they do and a summary of who they are)
Moodboard for editorial visuals/photoshoot visuals
Shoot plans
Potentially start some shoots the week afterward
This was something we saw to be relatively achievable, though it depended quite heavily on the creatives getting back to us on the interview questions.
The Tuesday session led up to another brainstorming session for a working title, this brought on a few new options we had not really considered before...
Names such as:
Undivided
Profile
Entity
Herd
Flock
Voice
Uncover
Though some of these names were strong, there wasn’t anything that jumped out at us.
We did another mindmap of name ideas, some of the better ones (in my opinion) were:
@
Breakthrough
Handle
Platform
Rise
Glow
The idea with these titles would be to push forward the feeling of upcoming designers and creatives breaking out of the norm and rising above to be noticed as prosperous. I think the uplifting names are good, one problem we did encounter was the fact that many of the names were already used by other magazines in the past (most of which are still functioning) and so unfortunately we are unable to use them by default.
We still need to establish and research into what sort of magazines this publication will sit with, as well creating consumer profiles. I want to produce the visual consumer profiles this week, I don’t think it will take too long as I have produced them multiple times in the past so have a grasp of what they should visually look like and read like.
On Wednesday, we had an interesting guest lecture with Lauren Gregory from Crumb Model Agency - she spoke to us about her agency and how they approach the idea of the modelling world very differently to a large majority of the current modelling universe. I found it interesting to learn that they stand for inclusivity and diversity, all body types and ages are appealing to Crumb, this was refreshing to me as for too long the unrealistic standard of a model has been upheld. It is only in the past few years that the ‘plus-size’ model has been accepted into the industry. Crumb are based in both Norwich and London but primarily operate in Norwich. It is interesting they focus on not only visual aspects of people but also their personal interests, looking at what they are activists for or what interests they have - something that relates directly to the magazine project.
On Friday we came into the session having produced a list of interview questions, I had my answers and everything required from the proposed list from Monday, though some others did not. This did not affect the flow of the session too heavily although it has slowed down the process of the magazine production slightly. We focussed on magazine detailings in this session, we updated the layout board with proposals on how we wanted the content to look, as well as deciding on typefaces and details like column numbers and guttering widths. Meg and I worked on the design side of the magazine as we had produced the work required for the session, we questioned the rest of the group for their opinions on the design layouts we were creating and we left todays session with a positive mindset.
For the Monday session, we want to have a few things done:
Style guide (fonts, aesthetic of mag)
Individual identity (moodboard) of each of the creatives
All interview responses back
All shoot plans complete
As this may be unrealistic for some, I want to progress with my own work. I want to try to write up some article work for my creatives, also create research files for my creatives. I also want to have visual layouts for my content created for Monday.
The project is picking up pace now which is exciting, I hope the rest of the group continue to work at the pace we are working at right now. I worry for the fashion magazine slightly as the members with content for this one have yet to really produce much on the flat lay, this is fine for now but could be a problem as far as planning goes.

Kevin David’s Shopify Ninja Course Changed My Life For Ever – Right here’s an Trustworthy Sneak Peak
TL:DR I’ve previously reviewed Kevin David Facebook Ninja Masterclass Course – so much so that I needed to attempt his Shopify Ninja Masterclass as nicely. Be warned that both programs are totally different and result in a completely separate area of experience. Rest assured, whichever course you choose, you will be able to simply attain the breakeven point. Read on under.
Shopify Ninja Course Grasp Class – How It All Began For Me?
To be trustworthy, I was not aware of this course, or when precisely it made its breakthrough until doing my very own analysis afterwards. It simply happened a couple of months in the past for me.
I used to be Googling some search phrases resembling; ‘How to target audience for Shopify store?’ and something alongside the strains of ‘Drop shipping techniques for Shopify store owners.’
Long story brief, a few of the first web page results lead me to Kevin David’s Shopify Ninja course. Then again, in case you are not even acquainted with how keywords work and the respective key phrase instruments, you possibly can download them, or entry them instantly via Google. I personally use Google Adwords Free Keywords device; it helps out so much.
Nevertheless, in case you are in search of one thing alongside the strains of a fully-fledged paid service; AHREFs is the most effective. The latter supplies search engine marketing warriors with an array of real time knowledge and instruments to assist them rank their pages sooner or later of time.
Coming back to Shopify Drop delivery, it is an age-old idea. Drop delivery started a very long time in the past. The thought is straightforward; you’re advertising one thing from one or numerous online stores with out having any physical stock.
Every time someone places an order, the cost goes to your on-line or no matter account, you then purchase that merchandise out of your trusted e-commerce retailer, while maintaining your revenue on the aspect. Afterwards you ship it to your respective consumers.
I’d also like to say that Kevin David Shopify Ninja Course isn’t the only course obtainable with reference to Shopify dropshipping. There are plenty of others out there out there, but KD’s educating material is certainly one of a sort.
Each module in his course goes from a basic to specific sample in no time. Subsequently, I ended up with plenty of stuff on my arms. It took me weeks to use those methods and see any outcomes. The fundamentals start from some introductory stuff after which it goes all the best way to creating your first sale.

Beware that it could actually take anyplace from every week to a couple of “weeks” to be able to see any Shopify Sale liquidate into confirmed cost switch. Anyhow, I’ll speak about it later, but the point is that you actually need to exhibit and exhibit endurance.
Shopify Ninja Masterclass Is Not an Straightforward Capsule To Swallow:
There are plenty of issues related to Shopify – principally it is drop delivery that you’ll want to fear about. Although one of the best information is that you simply don’t have to take a position an ‘X’ sum of money into buying merchandise’ stock, but there are a couple of dynamics enjoying in the background.
Let me make this easy for you: drop delivery, whether or not it’s carried out on Shopify, Amazon or eBay, is all the time going to be a dangerous venture in case you are not careful concerning the following:
Working with a shady supplier
Working with a brand new provider
Not making sure whether the thing being bought is as described
Buyer mishandling
Misrepresenting product description
Not speculating a sudden drop or improve in the products worth
Scroll right down to read what I am talking about. For now, let’s see what the Shopify Ninjacourse modules are going that will help you out with.
Module 1 and a couple of Are All About Laying Down The Brass Tacks!
Since I discussed earlier, the primary module is where you will study Shopify drop delivery. Kevin’s videos clarify the magnitude of Shopify, how huge of a web-based firm they are and the way a lot cash you might probably make.
Afterward, the modules take you thru some exclusive methods, which have been personally tried, tested and confirmed by KD. You’ll study something what Kevin likes to name the ‘80/20’ rule in detail. I can’t spill extra information on this, nevertheless it has lots to do with suppliers and inventory availability vs. pricing.
Some other highlights of the primary two Shopify Ninja Masterclass are:
Selecting the Right Products For Your Store:
This implies you need to concentrate on what’s happening round you on the internet. Some merchandise sell dangerous, while others promote like cupcakes. The hot button is to determine the development after which place your bets on scorching selling merchandise.
For example, if you will be coping with the PC hardware area of interest, then the Holiday durations are going to return with a whole lot of alternatives for you to promote. I know for a proven fact that new GPUs with RTX architecture have been launched.
Every other gamer is saving up for some gaming graphics card because they don’t seem to be low cost lately. With Santa Claus proper across the corner, you may listing a number of the subsequent gen GPUs on your Shopify store whereas following Kevin David’s methods. He principally talks about ongoing developments in the products business and the way you possibly can squeeze probably the most juice out of it.
Utilizing Ali Categorical Worth Model To Your Benefit:
I mentioned Ali Categorical particularly, but there are lots of others that Kevin David ninjacourse mentions within the content material. The guy will stroll you through some primary parts where he ensures danger minimization, inventory purchase and vice versa.
Ali Categorical is an enormous Chinese language e-commerce hub. While they have an abundance of products obtainable at competitive rates, you’ll want to watch out for scammers. Some low high quality typical ‘Made in China’ stuff is going to land your model new squeaky-clean Shopify enterprise in scorching water. Hold an eye fixed out for those guys.
Kevin will fill you in on the small print on find out how to safe yourself and your retailer from such sellers.
Coping with customs, taxes and obligation expenses
You must know that there are particular customs clearance fees and supply duties on totally different items.  These fees are totally different than ‘Shipping Charges’, so don’t get them combined up. Also, Kevin highlights the very fact how these customs duties impact the market.
He specifically talks about why such costs are essential and how to not mess them up. Some new Shopify drop delivery sellers do not take such overhead bills under consideration, which leads them to dropping some huge cash before they will even course of such info.
GET A SNEAK PEAK OF THE SHOPIFY NINJA COURSE MASTERCLASS THROUGH KEVIN’S FREE-FOR-ALL WEBINAR SESSION
On a personal notice, do not take customs fees on Face value so long as you’re coping with Chinese language, Indians and Pakistani customs. The officers can cost you much more or so much lower than the unique worth of the merchandise. It isn’t your fault whether your purchaser finally ends up paying greater than the talked about worth of the product.
But to be on the protected aspect, all the time mention one thing resembling; ‘Please consult with your country/ area specific air aviation custom clearing company’ earlier than buying on-line. It will forestall your store from gaining any unfavourable fame in the long run.
How Not to Suck At Shopify Drop Delivery In response to Kevin David
Kevin strongly recommends setting aside at the least $500 – $1,000 as a collateral expense. You must know that that is an internet business with real individuals on the other aspect. In case your consumers will not be proud of a product, or they are of the scamming sort, they’ll file for refund.
PayPal principally guidelines in favor of the customer, for so long as you are not careful with retaining supply receipts, field package deal footage and different stuff that accounts for proof of supply. You will lose cash that means. But don’t sweat it, Kevin talks about such features of operating a web-based business and lets you in on certain white hat ‘mitigation’ methods.
One more reason for preserving some money as a reserve is because of how cost insurance policies work. For example, in case you are buying from Amazon, or eBay and coping with monetary transactions by means of PayPal and so on., the incoming funds might be stored on hold for 30 – 60 days! I guess you didn’t see that coming. It’s okay; once I began drop delivery I was also underneath the identical impression.
This policy was not all the time there, however PayPal and other online cost institutes decided to implement it for buyer security objective. It is advisable play by the principles here as a result of the first few weeks/ months of drop delivery will contain shopping for the gadgets from your personal pocket after which having them shipped instantly in the identical style.
By the point the money starts rollin’ in, your consumers will already have their gadgets at their doorstep. Once this cycle begins, there’s no denying that making a lavish way of life out of Shopify dropshipping could possibly be fairly satisfying.
Shopping for Premium Themes, Plugins And so on.
More than half of so-called entrepreneurs fail at Shopify drop delivery as a result of they don’t seem to be prepared to go an additional mile. These days are lengthy completed when you possibly can jump-start an internet business with none funding.
Since competition is on the excessive streak today, Kevin David Shopify Ninjacourse talks lots about utilizing premium themes & plugins. These themes will give your store a very skilled look; it’s as if the gadgets are literally buying proper off their shelves.
The Shopify Ninjacourse comes with some freebie bundles, nevertheless it’s higher to buy a couple of themes to be on the protected aspect. After you have lastly decided whether you’re going to be promoting electronics, garments or footwear, you’ll be able to go together with one particular theme and call it a day. Plugins, then again make it easier for you to handle worth charts, customer expertise, contact info and so forth.
In case you are on a shoestring price range, you may also play together with free Shopify themes and plugins. The ninja course master class comes with a bundle of free instruments and different bonus material, relying on which day you buy it. In case you are fortunate, and the course is solely provided by Kevin as a limited time special deal, go ahead and grab it with out considering twice. You may be thanking me later.
Don’t Give up Early:
The advantage of Kevin David Shopify Ninjacourse is the way it convinces new students to remain motivated and work onerous by way of thick and thin. Lots of people surrender as a consequence of initial store launch failures, or simply because how they couldn’t develop into an “overnight” success like the subsequent huge identify in the Dot Com business.
It doesn’t all the time play straightforward n’ simple. Kevin failed quite a few occasions before he was capable of provide you with totally different particular methods that scored him a gold mine’s value of revenue by way of Shopify drop delivery alone. He has other on-line companies too, which suggests he labored his butt off before influencing others to take action.
Reserve some price range for online advertising by means of Fb Advertisements (extremely really helpful), YouTube video advertising and vice versa. Facebook Advertisements are extremely advisable because it is the subsequent massive social media sensation.
Plus, there’s Kevin David Facebook Ninja Advertisements course on the market; it’ll make lots of things straightforward for you. Simply take a look at his Facebook ninja advertisements webinar to listen to Kevin speak about why it is very important transition from real life advertising to FB advertising immediately.
HERE’S THE FACEBOOK ADS NINJA MASTERCLASS WEBINAR LINK FOR YOU. HURRY UP BEFORE ALL THE SLOTS FILL IN!!!
Kevin Teaches What Others Don’t:
Kevin David ninja course stresses on why domain identify, model identify and such other things are necessary. I have blown some critical cash on other Shopify drop delivery programs however none of them speak about choosing a website and why it’s necessary within the first place.
By the best way, area age additionally plays an important position in your Shopify store’s positioning in the SERPs. Google likes to favor previous domains over new ones because of current modifications in the algorithm. Don’t blame me or Kevin for it; that’s how things position with store and model names today.
It also means that you are not supposed to decide on a cool non-serious area identify. Once you set a website identify, it’s going to be everlasting; give it some thought earlier than leaping the hoop.
Kevin’s Secret Sauce – Driving Clients to Your Shopify Retailer:
That’s the place the Shopify ninja course takes an fascinating turn; how one can drive extra clients to your retailer, and easy methods to convert them ultimately. He talks about establishing Facebook Advertisements, advertising by way of YouTube, Press Releases, Instagram and and so forth.
Out of all advertising channels, Fb advertisements are crucial. You possibly can set up campaigns without any crash course on Fb advertising, however I strongly advice towards it. Hold your horses and check out Kevin David’s unique Fb Ninja Masterclass Webinar.
Identical to the Shopify Ninja Course webinar, Fb ninjacourse stay webinar is all about understanding how the Fb advertising system is designed, why it’s so damn necessary and learn how to get probably the most profitable expertise out of it.
But that’s not all!!!
Kevin doesn’t depart you excessive and dry on the advertising forefront. He also teaches rather a lot about writing compelling advert copy, creating gross sales pages by yourself and content creation usually. If writing isn’t your forte’, you’ll be able to rent a content writer from any freelancing website.
Nevertheless, you can too use KD’s exclusive gross sales page templates, advert copy templates and bonus materials. Simply ensure you are making the required modifications to make all of it look unique, compelling and a customized piece in your audience. In any other case, it’s going to make you look silly in case you are gonna’ copy and paste word for word.
What I Didn’t Like About Kevin David Shopify Ninja Course?
My only problem with this course is the worth issue. It is expensive, contemplating that you have to spend over a thousand dollars. However then once more, in case you are skeptic like me, you must enroll in Kevin’s Shopify Ninja Course Webinar instantly.
The seats are restricted, so there’s no assure if Kevin shall be hosting one other webinar anytime quickly.
The course is fast paced, so you might have to rewind numerous movies. Just maintain a pen and paper useful earlier than beginning your training periods. I can guarantee you that Kevin’s means of educating stuff about Shopify drop delivery is so fascinating that it will get unimaginable for viewers to go away there seats for a pen and paper.

After you have lastly decided whether you’re going to be promoting electronics, garments or footwear, you’ll be able to go together with one particular theme and call it a day. Plugins, then again make it easier for you to handle worth charts, customer expertise, contact info and so forth.

I guess you didn’t see that coming. It’s okay; once I began drop delivery I was also underneath the identical impression.

By the best way, area age additionally plays an important position in your Shopify store’s positioning in the SERPs. Google likes to favor previous domains over new ones because of current modifications in the algorithm. Don’t blame me or Kevin for it; that’s how things position with store and model names today.

CHECKOUT THE SHOPIFY NINJA COURSE WEBINAR FOR EARLY BIRD ACCESS TO A DISCOUNT DEAL

SEO XBusiness Review And Large Bonus
SEO XBusiness Testimonial - Are you looking for more understanding concerning SEO XBusiness? Please read through my truthful evaluation about it prior to choosing, to assess the weak points as well as staminas of it. Can it be worth your time and effort and also cash?
Exactly how to Rank in 2018: The SEO Checklist
It's tough sufficient as it is to explain to non-SEOs how to rank a webpage. In an increasingly challenging area, to do well you have actually reached have a great manage on a variety of thorough topics. This edition of White boards Friday covers a nine-point checklist of the major items you have actually reached go across off to rank in the brand-new year-- as well as possibly get some tips on how to clarify it to others, too.
Howdy, Moz fans, and welcome to a special New Year's edition of Whiteboard Friday. This week we're going to run through just how to place in 2018 in a short list style.
So I understand that most of you sometimes ask yourself, "Gosh, SEO XBusiness feels overwhelming to attempt and explain to someone outside the SEO occupation just how to get a web page ranked." Well, you recognize what? Allow's check out that a little bit today on White boards Friday. I sent out a tweet asking individuals, "Send me a quick checklist in 280 personalities or much less," and I returned some amazing actions. I have credited some people below when they have actually contributed. There is a ton of information to placing in the SEO world, to try and place in Google's results. But when we take out, when we go wide, I think that simply a few products, as a matter of fact just the nine we've obtained here can primarily take you with most of what's required to rate in the year ahead. So allow's dive into that.
1. Crawlable, available Links
So we desire Googlebot's crawlers to be able ahead to this page, to recognize the content that's on there in a text readable format, to recognize pictures and visuals or video clip or installs or anything else that you have actually got on the web page in a way that they are mosting likely to have the ability to take into their web index. That is important. Without it, none of the rest of this stuff also matters.
2. Keyword research study
We require to recognize as well as to discover words as well as phrases that SEO XBusiness are in fact making use of to resolve or to get answers to the problem that they are having in your world. Those ought to be problems that your organization, your site is in fact working to resolve, that your web content will certainly help them to address.
What you want below is a key keyword and hopefully a collection of related second search phrases that share the searcher's intent. So the intent behind of every one of these terms and also phrases need to coincide to ensure that the exact same web content can offer it. When you do that, we currently have a main and also an additional collection of search phrases that we can target in our optimization initiatives.
Research currently with Keyword phrase Traveler
3. Explore the SERP to discover what Google believes to be pertinent to the searcher
I desire you to do some SERP examination, suggesting perform a search question in Google, see what returns to you, and then determine from there what Google thinks to be appropriate to the key words searches. What does Google believe is the content that will address this searcher's query? You're attempting to determine intent, the sort of web content that's required, as well as whatever missing out on items could be there. If you can discover holes where, hello, no one is offering this, however I know that people want the response to it, you may be able to load that space and also take over that ranking placement. Thanks to Gaetano, @gaetano_nyc, for the excellent recommendation on this.
4. Have one of the most reliable person develop content that will certainly offer the searcher's objective
There are three aspects right here. Initially, we desire an in fact reputable, deserving of amplification person or individuals to produce the web content. Why is that? Well, since if we do that, we make boosting, we make SEO XBusiness link building, we make social sharing means most likely to occur, and also our web content comes to be more reliable, both in the eyes of searchers and also visitors in addition to in Google's eyes also. So according to that is possible, I would certainly advise you to do it.
Next, we're trying to serve the searcher's objective and address their task, as well as we intend to do that far better than any individual else does it on page one, since if we do not, even if we've enhanced a lot of these various other things, over time Google will realize, you understand what? Searchers are irritated with your result contrasted to other outcomes, as well as they're mosting likely to rate those other people greater. Huge credit report to Dan Kern, @kernmedia on Twitter, for the terrific idea on this.
5. Release engaging title tags as well as meta summaries
Yes, Google still does utilize the meta summary rather often. I recognize it seems like occasionally they don't. However, in fact, there's a high percent of the moment when the real meta summary from the web page is utilized. There's an also greater percentage where the title is used. The LINK, while Google sometimes trims those, additionally made use of in the bit as well as other aspects. We'll talk about schema and also other sort of markup later on. Yet the snippet is something that is crucial to your Search Engine Optimization efforts, because that determines how it displays in the search engine result. Just how Google displays your result identifies whether individuals wish to click your listing or someone else's. The bit is your possibility to say, "Come click me rather than those other guys." If you can maximize SEO XBusiness, both from a keyword viewpoint utilizing the words and also phrases that individuals desire, as well as from a significance as well as a pure drawing the click perspective, you can truly win.
6. Wisely utilize main, secondary, as well as relevant key phrases
Related key words implying those that are semantically linked that Google is mosting likely to view as vital to proving to them that your material pertains to the searcher's question-- in the page's text content. Why am I saying text content below? Since if you place it purely in visuals or in video clip or some other embeddable layout that Google can not always quickly analyze out, eeh, they might not count it. They might not treat it as that's really content on the web page, and also you require to show to Google that you have the relevant keywords on the web page.
7. Usage abundant bits and also schema markup to enhance web content
This is not possible for SEO XBusiness. However in many cases, in case that you're getting involved in Google information, or in the case that you remain in the dish world as well as you can get visuals as well as images, or in the case where you have a highlighted fragment chance and you can obtain the aesthetic for that included fragment along with that credit rating, or in the event where you can obtain abundant bits around traveling or around trips, various other verticals that schema is supporting today, well, that's terrific. You ought to take advantage of those possibilities.
8. Optimize for web page speed
I indicate look wonderful from an aesthetic, UI viewpoint and look fantastic from an individual experience point of view, letting somebody copulate through and achieve their task in a very easy, satisfying way on every gadget, at every rate, and also make it secure also. Security seriously important. HTTPS is not the only thing, however it is a big component of what Google appreciates now, and also HTTPS was a big emphasis in 2016 and 2017. It will definitely continue to be an emphasis for Google in 2018.
9. That will aid enhance this and also why?
When you have that great solution, I imply a details listing of people as well as publications who are mosting likely to aid you enhance it, you've got to perform to gain solid links as well as discusses and word of mouth throughout the web and across social networks so that your web content can be seen by Google's crawlers as well as by people, by people as highly relevant and excellent quality. You do all this things, you're mosting likely to rate quite possibly in 2018. Anticipate your remarks, your additions, your payments, and do not hesitate to check out the tweet thread too. Thanks to every one of you who added using Twitter as well as to every one of you who followed us right here at Moz and also White Boards Friday in 2017. We wish you have a wonderful year in advance. Thanks for watching. Take care.

There is actually an interesting tale creating on antitrust administration and also collaboration in between hospitals and also medical professionals motivated due to the new medical care rule. What definitely matters there is actually access to visitors, as well as the capacity to deliver companies to buyers and contend for their organisation. To ensure, not all state antitrust enforcers fill in the way of medical care reform. To dismiss that initiative without considering that Amazon might possess brought in a perfectly realistic opinion that balanced buyer protection and item style overlooks the cost-benefit balancing required through Section 5 of the FTC Show. This terribly dismal thought and feelings possesses primarily to carry out along with declining total consumer rate of interest in enjoyable, driver-oriented autos, and it does nothing to celebrate what a wildly fun device this is. Fostering from reforms along these pipes could create Area 337 a much more efficient resource along with which to shield UNITED STATE Internet Protocol civil liberties in global field as well as guarantee that Section 337 is actually applied in a procompetitive, pro-consumer manner. It says it's ready to bring forth a fully-fledged performance sequence for eventually this year -- maybe something comparable to Lexus' F vehicles. Again, just given that there is old High court language blessing a widespread Area 5 performs certainly not ipso facto transform Segment 5 administration beyond the Sherman Act right into a welfare-enhancing workout. Productivities, like anticompetitive results, can easily not and also ought to not be presumed in to existence. In Inrix's Connected & Autonomous Car Customer Questionnaire, 5,045 drivers from 5 countries weighed in on the target. While that updates would perhaps be actually more fantastic if our experts had actually ever before been given a definite timeline for the auto, the CEO states that needs to relate to the initial auto spinning off the assembly line by the end this week. After all, our experts target to press our own selves as well as others that authorized the deposit to become far better in comparison to our natural desires - much like that protests the all-natural disposition of many of us to stay clear of a 2nd part from chocolate covered. All those that take the guarantee have the chance to enroll in activity signals, and may also subscribe to become a Pro-Truth advocate.

Codenamed G29, the next-generation Z4 will certainly be actually improved a sports-car chassis co-designed along with Toyota. Obviously that doesn't finish the study, and the government's filings do all they could to sidestep the direct antitrust procedure of MFNs and also rather insist that they (and also other proof declared) enable the court to infer Apple's engagement as the coordinator of a parallel price-fixing conspiracy theory amongst the authors. A lot more egregious, Steve Salop and also Jon Cook proponent using Section 5 to execute their liked social plans-- in this particular case to minimize profit inequality. As kept in mind above, Administrator Wright originally recommended a secure harbor coming from FTC UMC enforcement whenever perceivable performances are present. According to Automotive Information, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, as well as Volkswagen mixed to generate 281,519 automobiles, the mass which were actually destined for export.

The impressive durability from the present Section 2 status is actually kept with each other through a combination of the intuitive appeal from cost theory for generalist courts relative to more interventionist Post-Chicago as well as Behavioral financial options, the loved one explanatory power from the alleged Chicago Institution ideas relative to challengers. Although certainly not a complete evaluation, in this particular blog post our company will certainly explain some essential knowledges right into just how the ACA's assistances and rules need to update our assessment of the competitiveness of the health care business in its entirety, and the antitrust customer review of medical insurance mergings especially. Understanding State Cost per actions is important to comprehending the very likely security consequences from Area 5 administration. Psarshinian, anecdotal tales regarding auto reliability are actually not worth considerably, also my invaluable ones, but I possessed pair of 99s and a 900 between the very early 70s as well as late 90s, as well as they addressed me effectively, repairwise.
