this was gonna be in the tags but ik it's not gonna fit bc im abt to yap so hard i love greek mythology sm bc i grew up reading percy jackson and the olympians and then went on to read the real deal but anyway THIS WAS SO LONG JS READ UNDER THE CUT HHSSJJAJS

MAREEENAAA never in my wildest dreams (warning: im about to have like a gazillion taylor swift references i apologize in advance) did i think u would mash up baji and sanzu in one myth i thought either you'd pick one or have separate myths; i totally forgot about the love triangles bc im fixated on the likes of cupid and psyche, orpheus and eurydice (absolute favorite btw), ceyx and alycone, and etc. god, u opened a core memory of mine when my college classmates and i went on a retreat weeks before graduation and we joked abt how i was like helen (not bc im the fairest) but bc i launched a thousand ships (or fights if u may HAHA) bc i tweeted something meant for my own circle that fit the shoe of another clique in the class HAHA aye, to be a messy teenager lmao

anyway, im being repititve over here saying i didn't expect to be assigned helen of troy and ngl, at first i was skeptical about sanzu being paris (not that he fit menelaus more), it was more of paris picking aphrodite's offer. at first i thought, hera offered power and athena offered wisdom, like surely in sanzu's eyes aphrodite's offer of making the most beautiful mortal to fall in love with him was inferior. then i was like i guess the answer would vary depending on which version of sanzu it was you saw as paris, like from which timeline. then suddenly it clicked. it doesn't matter whether you envisioned kanto manji!sanzu or bonten!sanzu or toman!sanzu, i js suddenly thought yes, marena is on point with this. some people dumb down sanzu as a crackhead, a mess, just a druggie, mikey's mad dog on a leash, but i think they're forgetting that to get to a high position in a criminal organization, you gotta be smart and wise. and with wisdom, you can acquire power. sanzu, despite his chaotic nature, is not an mindless stoner. and on top of that, his tragic past. so then i was like i js know that the second he hears what aphrodite has to offer, he'd be sold. i think it doesn't even matter to him what she looked like. sanzu needs affection. he needs love. his whole life he's chasing after someone who will make him purposeful, who will make him feel needed. i thought wow, i think paris in the myth prob was just a man, wanted a pretty girl but i think to sanzu that offer was literally godsent. like finally, someone who will love him, be in love with him, and hey, it's aphrodite. if anyone can secure such a thing as love, she's the one to go to.

but ofc aphrodite's award was not an unwed woman, it was helen (or me (*ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)ꕤ*.ﾟmarena pls u slayed w that one HAHHAHAH aint no way i sent u mid selfies and ootds and thought 'yeah she's gonna be helen of troy' HAHAHAH). i know helen was so beautiful that her father made all her suitors swear an oath not to oppose against whomever she chose and made them swear to defend helen and her chosen husband if anyone tried to take her away. also helen chose menelaus (the one u chose as baji), the king of sparta, bc of his wealth (ok anyone who says helen is a gold digger gtfo like i would choose that too bro like in this economy?! god forbid a girl would wanna live comfortably HAHAHAAH) and his gifts. and u know marena, i have two love languages. acts of service and gift giving. so that shit is so on point i think u mightve dissected my brain or soul or both (˶˃⤙˂˶) bruh i love giving presents to my friends and on the other end idk how to react when i do receive sth but i always end up in tears LMAO

'helen picked menelaus' *taylor swift voice* flashback when u met me, my wolfcut, your hair unbleached, even in my worst times you saw the best of me ദ്ദി ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ ) (changed the lyrics of tay's dress to fit baji and i lol). i did in fact pick baji as my fav character when i saw him while my sister was watching TR in 2021/2022 (which was also in fact one of the worst times of my life) and i was like wow he looks so cool and my sister was like 'bro he died' (well that didnt stop me from stanning HAHAHA). i believe in late 2022 or 2023, i got my first commission here on tumblr bc of a bday art i did for baji so yeah...even in my worst times you saw the best of me...(*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ)

not only did u pick a perfect parallel for sanzu and i but for baji too bc he's a fighter. and he will go down with his loved ones to hell if it meant he'll be reunited with them. and a lil thing i loved is you included the tyndareus oath that the suitors would protect helen and menelaus should something bad happen. it reminds me of [our beloved bikes] baji on puzzreve, his skill is lit "if one of us goes down, we all protect them". like??? marena??? YOUR MIND?!?!??

AAAAAHHHHKKCKCK AND ALSO. thank you for altering the ending for sanzu. originally paris was gonna be killed by philoctetes with a poisoned arrow and he tried asking healing from his first wife, oenone, but she declined. i thought sanzu already suffered enough and meeting the same end as paris would break my heart (˃̣̣̥ᯅ˂̣̣̥). my boy, he just needs a lil bit of TLC (੭ ;´ - `;)੭ ♡

while i do read a lot, im no writer, so i can only comment on sm but js know i love both pieces sm, screenshot it, uploaded to my google drive for safety ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧ outlines and drafts were already forming in my head LIKE I HAD VISIONS when i was reading and if i made sth out of your incredible writing, i wanted it to be at a significant time and i looked up dates related to the greeks and found our their independence month is on march 25th which is already over...but make no mistake, if there's a will there's a way ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧ one day, one day...

Part one

Legend says that Baji Keisuke, king of Sparta, was attending a funeral when he heard of Sanzu stealing his wife to Troy. Scorned, the king alongside two his trusted men, went after the pinkette, though when they arrived on the land his wife was supposed to be at, thez were informed that Sanzu has yet to arrive back to his homeland. A storm caught him off guard, firstly landing on Cyprus and later on Phoenicia. Keisuke couldn't demand his wife back just yet, so he left, but not for too long. The raven haired king was far from a fool. He remembered the vows he alongside his rivals when Rara had to pick a husband amongst them: No matter who would have gotten chosen, the remaining men must protect and respect the pair. Having reminded each of his former rivals, now partners, Keisuke lead 60 ships back to Troy to get his wife back once and for all. The Spartan king had slain many men before he had gotten the chance to swing his mighty sword at Sanzu. A brutal duel broke between both kings, a ruthless battle that would once and for all determine who would rightfully take the beautiful queen back home. In the end, Sanzu was outpowered by the Spartan king, though Keisuke hadn't had the chance to kill Sanzu. Aphrodite, the Goddess of love, the one who promised Rara would belong to Sanzu, formed a cloud around the losing Sanzu and teleported him away from the battle. Many deaths later, Keisuke was able to bring his queen back home safely with no more Gods and Goddesses coming between them
