RID, i could remember some of the christmas market scenes from tobh while rereading it. and boy, don't get me started on the fic.

( sorry, i keep connecting your stories like a literary multiverse ) i will always do an asspull out of nowhere when it's about correlating your stories. it's like a passive little recall game for me. what can i do? the immersion is real. 🦅

i was so mad at them, by the way. more so, oc bcos the hurt stung 😭 i get her tho, but it's painful to leave a person who loves you so much. ( maybe, i hate it cuz i had done the same in the past in one way or other ? )

You're very right! Both J and Statler (especially Statler) have had to deal with a lot of responsibility since they were very young. For them, loving is a synonym for self-sacrifice. They don't know any other kind of love.

J can't cope with not being needed. They need to be needed, they crave the purposefulness of being reliable, and feel a very profound sense of shame/self-disgust at the thought of appearing weak in front of people they love. It's something J doesn't even dare to address. I feel like a route in which MC gives instead of taking would be very raw and emotional (as far as J goes hahaha).

Statler is a different story. They don't know what it's like to be taken care of. It's always been taken shouldering all responsibilities, being a source of support, being the one people need and rely on. But they can see the affection in MC trying to take care of them. Statler sees it as a proof of love and not a sign of (self) inadequacy.
