well /I/ think the power rangers fans should watch Jetman, Agito, Changerion, Faiz, Kiva, Cutie Honey the Live, and Shougeki Gouraigan, so they can be ready to truly start sentai with Donbrothers. But nobody asked me.

I know it's ages later but I've been thinking about this and you also have eiji's tragic backstory in OOO.

also in mirrorman there's an episode where two scientists run over a kid with their car but when they get out to assess the damage it turns out the kid was an Invader illusion and they get killed. the moral of the story being dont hit kids with cars i suppose.

but I can't think of anything besides leo that kills one of the little audience-insert sidekicks. there's kid sidekicks who lose their family but it truly is wild to be like "hey kids you can be friends with ultraman but you might die forreal"

How many mainstream toku actually kill kids?

well certainly not many anymore! showa stuff was the wild west so you definitely saw a bit of that back then. thinking about like ultraman leo (of course), shiro's little sister getting murdered at the start of v3, the first green focus ep in JAKQ, the infamous kid in the boat exploding in zubat, etc. etc.

heisei onward it's very rare i feel. even in kuuga where thousands of people die i struggle to recall any little kids being specifically shown or alluded to... though statistically there must've been some, right?

they did throw a fucked up child death subplot into geats, so. it's still something that conceivably Can happen. though maybe only if the child in question has since managed to come back to life in some form like neon did.

what do you think would happen if clark was raised by ultra people. Like. Everything is the same but clark crashed landed on the land of light and is raised by farmer ultra people. Assuming that the land of light's sun has the same properties as the earth-hed still be super powered! Hed just be incredibly tiny and cant do stuff like possess humans, make weapons, grow to the size of fucking skyscrapers, etc etc.

give me your two cents genuinely im curious. My personal opinion is that the ultra people think hes just a normal human because no one can really remember if humans are supposed to like. Fly and stuff.

Zyuohger oc I drew back in April. Dearest Noma is charitably described as “the worst to ever do it” by his fellow zyuman. A pompous equine who claims to be the greatest singer in all of Zyuland, even if his tone deaf whinnying suggests otherwise. Fed up with other zyuman "not understanding his genius artistry", he fled to Earth in the hopes of achieving his musical dreams elsewhere. It hasn't exactly worked out; he's viewed as an annoying weirdo in a horse costume wherever he goes. But if there's one thing the oh-so talented Noma doesn't know, it's when to quit, much to the chagrin of his newfound teammates (or odd delight of Misao, who has taken to his forcibly-assigned-by-Noma role as "personal assistant/man slave" weirdly well. much to the extra chagrin of Tusk and Yamato)

He's pink and purple bc I say so. Also zyuman don't have to be regular animal colors, just look at Amu and her purple stripes

i wanna take a step back from liveblogging (is it liveblogging?) kamen rider den-o to say that i'm genuinely happy i decided to watch it because it feels like this might help me get back into watching kamen rider again...

like, i said before (or at least i think i did) that watching kamen rider is hard for me because it gives me a headache. i couldn't finish geats or gotchard because there's just so much going on, and i've already given up on watching gavv because of that; i haven't even started it, actually.

but this time, i'm halfway through a show i started not even 2 weeks ago, which is kinda big for me. i fear it may be the sentai-esque way den-o comes off as that's keeping me watching it, and it makes me feel a little like a fraud, but it's better than nothing i suppose.

i hope i can find some other riders like den-o soon.

Tempted to do a post of all the Sentai/Kamen Rider I watched with brief "did or didn't I like it and why", where I allow myself ONE HOT TAKE.

Of course the problem with some shows will be narrowing it down to one. And the problem with others is that I'm not in touch with the fandom enough to know what's hot and what's tepid.

But still. I must allow myself the salt.

it's funny seeing takuya kimura of smap posted about cus somehow I've never gotten around to listening to them ever (sorry) But I did have access to my dad's netflix for a week at one point while dogsitting, during which I watched good luck!! (which sidenote: jumpscared me by having both jun kaname and kousei amano as really minor characters lol) cus I wanted to watch 2000s jdramas, so whenever I see takuya kimura I'm like oh it's my friend shinkai from good luck :)) first and foremost. and not the guy from the really, really popular boy band
