Hero Vision Vol.14 (2004/Spring) ft. Kamen Rider Blade Cast Interviews Takayuki Tsubaki & Hironari Amano Segment (translation below)
Publication: May 20, 2004 (between episodes 17-18) Takayuki Tsubaki (Kazuma Kenzaki) & Hironari Amano (Sakuya Tachibana)
"In the show, you play the roles of senior and junior, but in real life, from Tsubaki-kun's point of view, Amano-san is his senior when it comes to the entertainment industry. Do you ever confide your problems in him?"
Tsubaki: Yes, I do.
Amano: (suppressing his laughter) That's a liiie~.
Tsubaki: Ah! But, what about the time we went out to dinner together, or……ah, actually, I can't remember (said lacking confidence).
"When on set, who's the one that's most supportive and follows up with others?"
Amano: No matter who it is, if someone was yelled at or feeling discouraged, everyone follows up with them by saying, "Don't worry about it!" Everyone's so upbeat, and we're always laughing on set.
"When it comes to acting, do you ever talk about things like, "Going forward, let's do this"?"
Amano: Hmmm……For me, I'm not sure where my role is heading. I try not to establish the role from the beginning, but rather, add new elements as the opportunities arise. At first, I thought Tachibana was a calm, cool person who didn't show any emotions, but to my surprise, there are scenes of him losing his temper and yelling early on in the show.
"Do you and Tachibana have anything in common?"
Amano:……The tendency to worry. But, even though in the past I wouldn't tell people about my worries, recently, I've started to actually do so. I've come to realize just how easy it is.
"Tachibana also has a soft side for Sayoko."
Amano: I want to make Tachibana look more human. It's normal for a human to have many sides. There's the face you have during work, and the face you have in your private life. Now, Tachibana is trying to be strong by not relying on others, and it makes me think, "This isn't how a Rider's supposed to be!" (laughs). It may not be the usual justice of the past, but I think it would be great if Tachibana could overcome his obstacles and gain some confidence.
"Tsubaki-kun, do you think there are any similarities between yourself and Kenzaki?"
Tsubaki:……(vaguely) The stupid part of him? (laughs).
"Is it true that you became an actor because you wanted to learn how to express your feelings due to not having any?"
Tsubaki: I don't have any emotions at all, it's like I'm not a normal human, so it's really fun to "become" a human being when I get into the role. When I was younger, I was so loud, that people would often tell me, "You're noisy!"……Various things have happened since then, and I think I've calmed down abit. I also thought that while I'm a Rider, it would be easier for me to be Kenzaki if I didn't have "myself" in mind, so I've decided to think only about Kenzaki for the rest of the year. That's also why when I'm on set and Morimoto-kun is standing right next to me, my blood starts to rush. I think, "Why can't we fight even though I'm here?!"
Amano: Before we start filming, I try to reduce any tension (in order to become Tachibana), but this guy, he does the role the entire time. That's why he speaks in such a weird way. Even when we all eat together, he'll suddenly say, "You Bastard!," and "Get lost!" He would then start beating on Morimoto-kun, whose face looked as though it were saying, "Ehhhh~?!" (laughs). Morimoto-kun would then also act back.
Tsubaki: Morimoto-kun and I have to fight everyday anyway…..
"You'll soon start filming for the movie, where you'll have to think even more about Riders.
Tsubaki:……I don't know what will happen to me if Tachibana-san betrays me any further (said seriously).
Amano: I like how over such trivial things, you'll suddenly start speaking normally! When he talks to me over the phone, he's like, "Tachibana-san! it's Kenzaki! Where are you right now? Please call me back!" It's like he's prank calling me (laughs).
Tsubaki: For Morimoto-kun, "Hajime?!," is what I'll say when I call him. "I'll kill you," is what he'll say in response……
Amano: Ah, but when you talk to me and Morimoto-kun, you do talk normally.
"Morimoto-kun seems like he's trying to match Tsubaki-kun's pace (laughs). Maybe Tsubaki-kun is the type of person who needs to be taken care of by everyone?"
Tsubaki: That's right. But, it can't be helped, since Tachibana-san is currently acting so violent.
Amano: You're talking about in the show, right?
Tsubaki: Ah, right.
"Do you have a favorite line from the show?"
Amano: For me it's, "My body is falling apart!" People will constantly say it as a joke when on set. Hearing it actually makes me very happy.
"It's known that Tsubaki-kun's lines and way of speaking have become a popular topic of conversation among the fans (laughs). I think it's because they love the ridiculous feel of it."
Tsubaki:……I have mixed feelings about it. I'm glad it's being talked about, but still……(saddened).
Amano: During the dubbing process, the tension is so high, that it gives me alot of energy. In the recording room, everyone goes, "Hah! Hah!" (panting) for even the smallest action scenes. Recently, Tachibana's body has been falling apart to the point of hyperventilating due to the excessive panting (laughs).
"Have there ever been times during filming where you thought, "I really messed up big time!"?"
Amano & Tsubaki (at the same time): The snowy mountain scene in episode 3!
Amano: It was so cold that I couldn't move my mouth.
Tsubaki: My face was frozen. But, you can't tell just how hot or cold it is on when watching on the screen, so either way it's still bad.
"We'd like to thank you for all the hard work you go through when filming everyday."
Amano: Before that, I fell asleep for the first time on the Yamanote Line and circled it completely. I got on the train at Ikebukuro, then suddenly realized, I was back in Ikebukuro again. I looked at my watch and said, "Huh, I'm still here, so why is it so late?! Shit! I circled the line!" (laughs).
Tsubaki: I'd be totally fine with it if that happened to me.
"Would you consider yourself athletic and physically fit?"
Tsubaki: No, I'm just young.
Amano:……Would it be alright if I got upset? (laughs). He's not athletic at all! When we were at the snowy mountains, we all snowboarded together, but after like 2 or 3 times, he said, "I'm leaving. I'm tired. I'm sleepy." I was like, "Hey, hey, hold on, Blade!" (laughs).
"You really go at your own pace, don't you? Since you were young, have you always thought you were alittle different from other people?"
Tsubaki: By the time I realized it, people were already calling me weird. But, since we all start out by crawling, in a way, aren't we all weird?
Amano: Oh, that's pretty deep.
"Amano-san, what was your childhood like?"
Amano: I wanted to become independent as soon as possible, so I started looking for part time work by the time I was in my fourth and fifth year of elementary school. One of my friend's mother recommended becoming a child model as a way to earn money with ease, so I ended up joining an agency on my own. I've been in the entertainment world ever since then.
Tsubaki: I become easily emotional when I watch dramas, so….
"So you also wanted to inspire people?"
Tsubaki: (firmly) No, I just wanted to do it myself.
"How honest of you (laughs). Do you feel you're more likely to grow when receiving praise?" Tsubaki: I want to be criticized for my performance. I'm obviously still not good at it, so I need to be told these things in order to become better.
Amano: Well said, I can see just how serious you are (is impressed). I tend to get carried away when I receive praise. But, I also become discouraged when I'm criticized. It's like my weakness…..
"Finally, would you please give a message to the fans?"
Amano: Eh? Ah…(timid) please pay attention to how I grow in the future……
Tsubaki: Tachibana-san! You're the senior here!
Amano: Ah, you're right. We're all working very hard on this, so please continue to watch us!
Tsubaki: Please watch usss!!

Every Main Heisei Rider Actor's Bacon Number
If you don't know what a Bacon Number is, here's the Simple Wikipedia article, because apparently regular Wikipedia no longer has one. TLDR, if you take an actor, pick a movie/tv show they've been in, pick another actor from the same movie or show, and repeat, you'll eventually get to actor Kevin Bacon. Why him? Who even is he? No idea. But I found a website that automatically finds the Bacon Number of any actor you put into it, and immediately went "oh neat i wonder if it has actors from kamen rider in it".
Sure enough, the first one I tried, Joe Odagiri, Kuuga's actor, has a Bacon Number of 3.
Toshiki Kashu, Agito's actor, has one of 4, which always seems to go through Ryuki Episode Final for some odd reason.
Speaking of Ryuki, lead actor Takamasa Suga's number is 3.
Hey, wouldn't it be funny if Faiz's actor, Kento Handa had a Bacon Number of 5? Well too bad, his is 3 too.
Playing cards are a central theme in Kamen Rider Blade, I think. Much like the number of suits in a deck of cards, Takayuki Tsubaki's number is also 4.
Shigeki Hosokawa, whose name I'll be honest I'd never heard before looking it up, was Hibiki's actor. His Bacon Number is 3, which this website felt compelled to show using only one-word titles.
Grandmother once said this: Hiro Mizushima's Bacon Number is 4.
...she always said the weirdest stuff.
Y'know... it'd be sorta neat if Takeru Satoh's number was 4, since there're four Imagins, and his character's name, Ryotaro, has four syllables, and some other unspecified third reason... Again, unfortunately, it's only 3.
Koji Seto, actor for Wataru Kurenai in Kiva, has a Bacon Number of 3. What's interesting here, though, is that his path includes fellow actor Shun Sugata, whose name you might recognize, since he's only the dude that played Ryo Murasame, better known as Kamen Rider ZX!
And as for Decade, or Masahiro Inoue, it'd sure be pretty neato if his number was, like, 10, because- yeah okay you can see where this is going. It's three again.
Anyway, that's all the main Heisei Rider's Bacon Numbers, or at least all the ones for Kuuga to Decade. I'll do another one for W through Zi-O, since I'm fairly sure tumblr has a 10-image limit for posts, and maybe if I still feel like it after that, I'll do the rest of the Showa Riders and maybe some secondaries or something. Idk. Gonna be real, all this talk of bacon's gotten me hungry.

Hey, can you please explain The Onduru memes in Kamen Rider Blade?
Well, the meme came from a scene from the second episode of Kamen Rider Blade, a show that is as critically acclaimed as it is memed.
For context, Kenzaki/Kamen Rider Blade was in the middle of fighting one of the monsters of the week, the Undead, but his fellow Rider, Tachibana/Kamen Rider Garren just stood there watching as he Kenzaki getting his ass beat up, leading to one of the most memeable moments in tokusatsu history.
youtube
To those who don't speak Japanese (including myself), the issue with the delivery of that line, "Are you really a traitor!"/"Hontōni uragittan desu ka!" stemmed from the way Kenzaki's actor, Takayuki Tsubaki, said the word Hontōni. Because of the slur in Tsubaki's speech, he ended up accidentally pronouncing "Hontōni" as "Onduru". So while it might not sound that weird to English-speaking viewers like yours truly who can't speak Japanese, to anyone who actually knows what these people are actually saying without needing a translation, the line sounds like, well...
youtube
Yeah, this is why the memes about Kenzaki started more on the Japanese side of things until the Americans got in on the joke.

Hero Vision Vol.17 (2005/Winter) ft. Kamen Rider Blade Cast Members Takayuki Tsubaki & Ryoji Morimoto Final Episode Interviews (translations below)
Publication: February 20, 2005 (after broadcast end) Takayuki Tsubaki (Kazuma Kenzaki)
Before anyone else, Kenzaki Kazuma had always protected Hajime, an Undead, by recognizing his human qualities. If anything should happen to him, Kenzaki is responsible for (sealing) him. And now, that time (where a certain event may happen) is finally approaching. At that time, what will Kenzaki do?
"With heart pounding anticipation, Tsubaki-kun read the tense final script in his room."
Tsubaki: I was really looking forward to it, so I took it with me when I went home to read it over carefully. Reading the script was very emotional, when I finished it, I almost cried……It's very sad. I felt like, "Ah, I don't know what I should do……"
"Of course, it's not the ending we had imagined."
Tsubaki: For me, the only thing I could think about was that it would be better if I didn't have to seal Hajime. I though if it were Kenzaki, he could manage to save the world without ever sealing him……But I liked the way it ended because it was what I wanted. I thought it was a happy ending.
"A happy end."
"If you watch the final episode with such a familiar sounding phrase in mind, you'll be shocked. I'm sure the viewers will have the same feeling when they finish seeing what was written in Tsubaki-kun's script. The story is over, and now that I have these feelings, I don't know what I should do. I think Kenzaki's feelings in the last episode are rather complex, but I wonder how you, Tsubaki-kun, feel about it."
Tsubaki: I wasn't required to do anything in particular (by the Director), so I decided to act like Kenzaki until the end. If I didn't, I wouldn't feel like it was over. I'm going to keep moving forward with the feeling of, "Making everyone happy." I don't have a problem with being the one to suffer.
"I don't have a problem with being the one to suffer"
"As Kenzaki fights a cruel fate for the sake of everyone's happiness, Tsubaki-kun says, "It's pretty manly, huh?" When I said that I wanted Kenzaki, who is always thinking about Hajime and the others, to be happy, Tsubaki-kun responded with a surprised, "Eh?! But, he's happy when everyone else is happy, that's what his happiness is." He said this, smiling, as if it was already obvious. We all understand that wishing others happiness is a good thing, but, to actually do so in this world is quite difficult. Meanwhile, Tsubaki-kun regards Kenzaki's behavior as "normal." He fully understands and identifies himself as Kenzaki. Kenzaki was in a situation where he had no friends, lost his parents, and was all alone. When I asked, "Do you feel the same way?," Tsubaki-kun does have friends, so it seems different. As for his feelings toward Hajime, he interprets it as, "I can't leave him alone," rather than being attracted towards him by the feeling of loneliness."
Tsubaki: It's like, um……with Hajime, I feel like I can't leave him alone, you know? I think Kenzaki had a strong feeling that Hajime really needs him. Moreover, Hajime also does his best to protect Amane-chan. I guess that's how they got through to each other, huh?
"Kenzaki and Tsubaki-kun aren't exactly the same. But, there's no doubt that they're in synch."
Tsubaki: Even in my daily life, when I suddenly remember one of the scripts, my excitement levels rise, and I'll tend to cause a commotion. I try to suppress the urge, because it bothers everyone (laughs). Speaking of which, things have been really weird latley. Even though I not doing anything, I often get complaints like, "It's the middle of the night! You're too noisy!" I really don't understand it. You know what I do think, it's because I read scripts at home and sometimes I may speak out loud. I also read the script before going to bed, so I'm wonder if I'm doing something while I'm sleeping……(he looks nervous).
"The script for the final episode is so emotional that you may be unconsciously shouting out loud (?). The day where you'll leave this world is drawing near."
Tsubaki: I'm sad to see it end, but I hope I can inherit Kenzaki's positive qualities and continue to grow. I've received alot of things from Kenzaki that I previously didn't have. The most important thing being strong minded. Kenzaki has the ability to believe in others and act accordingly, so I really want to learn from that.
"When the show first started, he said that he had no emotions or feelings, and that he wanted to experience them through acting. Just as he promised, since the Summer, Kenzaki's facial expressions have become much more intense, and he even seems to be able to convey subtle nuances. I wonder if Tsubaki-kun himself was able to acquire these emotional movements?"
Tsubaki: No, no, when I go home……I'm still rather quiet (laughs). I spent more time acting as Kenzaki, so I didn't really care (about myself), but once it's over (the show), I'll have to live a different life.
"Just as Kenzaki called risking his life fighting "work," when I asked Tsubaki-kun if acting was also important work he can devote his life to, he responded with a very clear, "Yes!"
Ryoji Morimoto (Hajime Aikawa)
"As the final episode of Kamen Rider Blade drew near, Ryoji Morimoto-kun and Takahiro Hojo-kun were making a fuss saying, "No way, I hate this!" When the script was giving to Morimoto-kun, he said……"
Morimoto: Honestly, I wasn't sure I wanted to watch it. I thought I wouldn't watch it because it's the end, but, I'll guess I'll watch it after all (laughs). My though process is: I should watch it, actually let's not, but still, let's watch it (laughs).
"Finally, the script was opened. There was an unexpected turn of events, or rather, a shocking ending for Ryoji Morimoto, who played the role of Hajime Aikawa."
Morimoto: The ending was the complete opposite of what I had in mind. I was expecting a happy ending, a future where all the Riders could live together, but I didn't expect……that. Hajime was supposed to be a tragic hero, but in the end, Kenzaki carried the burden by himself, and it almost made me cry. I was deeply moved.
"This emotion continued to stir Morimoto-kun's heart even during filming."
Morimoto: In the final scene where I fight with Kenzaki, I was suddenly overcome with emotion while performing.
"I wonder, did Tsubaki-kun feel the same way?"
Morimoto: Tsubaki-kun……was the same as usual (laughs). He didn't really say much. Our conversations went like: "What do you think of this?," "Yeah, let's just do things as usual," "Eh?! But, this is our last time," "I know, it's alright," "Okay, well, let's do it with feeling. As we usually do." Tsubaki-kun was just his usual self. But, the feelings of Ryoji Morimoto's, "I'm sad that Blade is over" overlapped with Hajime Aikawa's feelings, which made me feel even more depressed. Tsubaki-kun only expressed his feelings to me through his performance, which made me incredibly sad. I almost cried not only during the fight scene, but during the very last scene with Kenzaki.
"The final episode is so sad because Hajime becomes more human towards the end, and because everyone had hoped that they would live happily ever after together, it'll leave viewers in shock."
Morimoto: I wanted to create a peaceful environment for Amane-chan and Haruka-san, so that they could spend their time together like a real family, all without being aware of the fact that I'm an Undead. Mutsuki may have had a barrier in that respect, and even though Hajime has become more human, he has to consider keeping the distance between himself and other humans.
"In a scene that stunned viewers, what were your thoughts on the scene where you attack Kenzaki with a lemon?"
Morimoto: I read the script and didn't feel strange about it, so I was able to do it easily. I only did it because I upset by Kenzaki doing it to me first. Well, to be honest, I was thinking of doing it in a somewhat cuter way, or saying my lines in cute way (laughs).
"Now, considering all the factors, I wonder if Morimoto-kun considers this ending as a happy ending?"
Morimoto: It's tricky……Happy end……Well, I guess for me, no matter what form I take, I'm glad that I was able to save the world.
"Speaking of Hajime, something that concerns me is Amane-chan. Amane-chan has a crush on Hajime, but Morimoto-kun used to tease Hikari-chan (Amane-chan's actress), and for awhile, she didn't like you. How are things now?"
Morimoto: Things are perfect. Hikari-chan's birthday will be soon I think. I need to buy her a present! When she gave me a present, it was T-shirt with a heart on it. I still wear it when I'm at home. By the way, Amane-chan's changed quite abit this past year, hasn't she? She used to be very childish, but recently she's become more mature (laughs). Is it all thanks to Hajime-san? I'm sure that I, Ryoji Morimoto, have become alittle more innocent thanks to Amane-chan's pure feelings.
"Looking back on the past year, how do you feel right now?"
Morimoto: My confidence as an actor has grown alittle, and my desire to be an actor has gotten even stronger. I strongly feel that there's no other profession that'll make me happier. I'm very happy when people see me perform, when they see that I'm doing my best, or when they see me being upbeat, it all makes me very happy. It may seem simple, but when I see that others are happy, I feel that I can do my best. Seeing them like that is the greatest happiness for me. I hope I can continue to attract people in the different works I do in the future.
"There's only one day left of filming. All that remains is the scene where Hajime turns into Joker. In this short scene, it's only Hajime and Joker on location.
Morimoto: I've been on the verge of tears so many times since the final episode, I'm sure you'll cry at the end too. But, being with Joker feels abit lonely. It makes me want to say something like, "I'm going back to live with my parents~" (laughs). This past year has gone by very quick. I worked incredibly hard, but I wish I had worked harder……Ah, man, I'll apply for Kamen Rider one more time next year. No, actually, let's go for Ultraman next time! (laughs).
"Although Morimoto-kun ended the interview on a cheerful note, he was abit teary eyed during most of it. I wonder what he'll do in the future……I'm personally looking forward to seeing some stage performances."

CLAMP Paranormal Investigations
Bear with me for some fun history about CLAMP Paranormal Investigations. First of all, this Wikipedia page (in English) only has half of the information listed for the characters and it's partially incorrect.
This was a set of CLAMP TRPG sessions played by CLAMP and Takeshi Okazaki, later novelized by Tomiyuki Matsumoto from the radio drama. There was a translation by TokyoPop, released 2004 but this version sanitizes any mention on the TRPG except for Matsumoto-san's mention about her novelization adaptaion in the back that was thankfully translated.
This brings up an issue that I hope to remedy with respect. After finding all the information I could, I believe that Yuki Ajiadou is a trans woman.
“Of course I look like a girl?” Yuki snapped. “‘Is it my fault I had the rotten luck of getting stuck with some boy’ DNA?!” Yuki’s face burned red with the heat of the insult.
That makes this book translation a bit painful to read, so that's absolutely something to keep in mind (I hope to do a re-translation at some point or even a re-novelization). Note that this session was done in 1999 and that some of the language reflects that fact, especially regarding Ajiadou-san. CLAMP has featured gender non-binary characters in the past (such as Kohaku from Wish, and Ashura from RG Veda). I feel like interpreting Ajiadou-san as a trans girl is an natural evolution of this.
[Book 1]
[Book 2]
[Book 3]
So, here's the character's information translated from Wikipedia using ChatGPT and some respect to our trans family, no thanks to TokyoPop.

Translation for Takayuki Tsubaki’s debut single “All We Have” (ありったけ), originally released December 6, 2018.
While the song is not officially a Kamen Rider Blade work, the song is performed and partially written by Takayuki Tsubaki (actor for Kazuma Kenzaki) and was heavily promoted in association with it, including its official music video being filmed at Kitchen Cafe Cranbon (the location used for Jacaranda Cafe) and its B-side being a Tsubaki cover of “ELEMENTS” (Blade‘s second ending song). With that in mind, the lyrics are generally considered to be contextualized with Blade and Kenzaki as a motif.
