Just a little but perhaps useful info. Today, tonnage refers to the displacement of a ship in the water or the gross pounds of cargo it can carry. In the 17th and 18th centuries this was not the case. In the eighteenth century this was not the case. Tonnage was called "tunnage" and referred to the number of tons a ship could carry. A ton was a barrel, usually used for wine, and tonnage indicated the number of barrels that would fit in the ship's hold.
Stone mason's yard. Specialising in heavy tonnage of semi-finished blocks of Sydney Sandstone, now quarried at Maroota, about 70 kilometres north-west of Sydney. The distinctive local sandstone was the 19th century building material of choice in Sydney, and there were many small quarries scattered throughout the Inner West. A thriving industry by the 1850's, they'd all been pretty much worked out before WWI. Until new sources were found, Sydney Sandstone was a rare, mostly recycled material for repairs, which weren't needed much anyway due to its extremely high durability. Still highly prized and sought after today. And still very expensive. Annandale.
decided to revisit my first custom 'Mech, the Tyrantula, inspired by the spider from Wild Wild West
first iteration: mining 'Mech with some lasers and machine guns strapped on because there were pirates about
second and third: looks like the pirates got a hold of it, decided to beef it up a bit more into an actual BattleMech
and then...Brigadier Mikaela Loveless, formerly under Commodore Samuel Ostergaard's command, got her hands on the beastie, as well as a factory and a fuckton of raw materials
The way knowledge about celtic tradition and religion is freely available and actually really easy to research compaired to most europian ethnicities, yet literally everyone is surprised when they learn about it, lights a fire of righteous anger in my heart.
Figured I’d work out the numbers here too since I did them for Ossys and Lenopan and so, diet numbers, for the most part.
Adult Perison, averaging in at about 4500 lbs (with women weighing less than men), eat about 45 lbs a day. Generally in the form of fruits, nuts, pith, leaves, grasses, tubers, etc, though sometimes eggs and on rare occasions meat or dairy is also included.
Adult Erinaens, meanwhile, generally weigh between 150-175 lbs, and eat about 7 lbs of food a day. This is mostly in the form of fruit, leaves, nuts, fungus, etc, with a side order of eggs and meat.
The Erinaen one may seem like a lot, for their size, but you also have to keep in mind that unlike the Perison (and unlike humans, who are a more similar size though not diet) Erinaens don’t cook their food. When cooking their food the number drops substantially due to improved nutrition gains.
DWT, the weight a ship can carry, navigates shipping's complexities. It affects profit, safety, and loading. Comparing DWT with DWCC, tonnage metrics, and optimizing deadweight utilization shapes efficiency. DWT's impact spans berths, safety, ship types, and market indexes.
In maritime's dynamic realm, DWT sets the course for sound decisions and smooth sailing. ⚓🌊 #MaritimeInsights #D
