sorry sorry i don't mean to keep yapping abt my clangen shenanigans, but i wanna talk abt some of the braveclan Lore that's been developing (at least ever since vinebounce's romance struggles have stopped and she's settled down and adopted 9 Entire Kittens with her wife).

okay so. earlier today when i was playing, i sent out a border patrol where a band of rogues suddenly killed rainshade (one of my warriors) and took burnstar's first life. which- by the way, was a shame because i was trying to set rainshade and burnstar up together. if i had a nickel for everytime a cat i was trying to set burnstar up with died suddenly and horribly during a border patrol, i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

anyway, a few moons pass, and another one of our warriors- cinderstreak (who fun fact, was named "cindernip" when he first got his warrior name, which i immediately changed because Absolutely Not), brings back an old tom named copperfern who proceeds to join the clan in between moon skips. in copperfern's history section, it says he used to be part of a band of rogues but decided to leave and join braveclan to get away from the rogues' tyrannical leader. another moon skip or two later, the events log says that cinderstreak went missing from camp for a few days before coming back, no explanation as to where he went.

two things you gotta know about cinderstreak. one, burnstar was his mentor (and he's got a really good relationship with her), and two, one of his listed traits on his profile is "bloodthirsty" (no idea where he got this trait from, burnstar doesn't have it, and yet cinder's had it since he was an apprentice). sooo, it's my headcanon that copperfern was part of the band of rogues that killed rainshade and took burnstar's first life (tho not actually involved in the ambush that did so), and spilled some details about his past to cinderstreak- the young warrior who invited him into braveclan. and cinderstreak- wanting revenge on copperfern's behalf and on behalf of his trusted mentor and the cat she was developing feelings for, snuck outta camp for a few days to track down copperfern's old tyrant leader. maybe lead him to one of the weirdly common badger dens around braveclan's territory. who knows!

whenever i join a warriors rp with strict "traditional" naming rules like no compound names, no names that don't fit kits, no names that don't make sense etc i think about how the first arc presumably had 3 runningkits, 2 tallkits, a white kit named blackkit, a black kit named whitekit, a grey kit named yellowkit, crookedkit, longkit, onekit, stumpykit, halfkit, tornkit, deadkit, loudkit, brokenkit, wetkit, heavykit, and sandstorm which i'm particularly aggrieved about because no compound nouns for names is such a stupid restriction. the books never had rules about names strictly fitting appearance and making literal sense that's a complete myth lol

For the past few days, I've been trying to make ends meet with this tree. WindClan's biggest problem is how very few cats it has in-canon, with the Erins practically forgetting an entire generation between Tallstar's Revenge and TPB. As a result, I had to make this thing nearly from scratch.

The result is before you; there are 122 cats on this chart at the moment! I've used Missing Kits to try and patch the "bald spot" in the timeline, but I admittedly did have to scrounge up a couple cats here. There are still no OCs on this tree, but some unnamed background characters have been given names.

(I am also watching authorial statements like a HAWK in the hopes they will drop more names I can use to pad out some of the single-kit litters, like Appledawn's single kid Adderstone there)

I also have tried to balance the size of this Clan with BB!ThunderClan's count by ASC. There's now a little over 30 cats in this Clan.

Swiftstar, Dalestar, Thrushbreeze, and Larkstripe's unnamed honor sire are all characters in Ripplestar's Rot, but they're just a bit too far back to be relevant at the moment.

Hareflight (FQ) is from the same time period. If they show up again, their name will be Harefrost.

Whitetail from Tigerclaw's leader ceremony was a WindClan cat in BB; she doesn't show up to his ceremony in this story, but she could appear on the tree at some point. If she does, her name will be Whitetuft.

From Code of the Clans, I am holding onto; Pebblefur, Acorntail, Morningcloud, Cloversplash, and Gorseclaw who would be renamed to Whinclaw.

Several leaders and Clerics could appear if BB ever went further back than Ripplestar's Rot. Swiftfoot, Stonestar, Duststar, Dovestar, Featherstar, Fallowstar, Rabbitstar... plus Mudpuddle, an ancient deputy.

Wanderkit and Muddyclaw from the Adventure Game are from WindClan; but currently not needed

Brightheart's surrogate kittens, Ambermoon, Snowbush, and Dewnose. Some could show up here if needed.

NOTE: If any of these characters show up again in canon, or are confirmed by authorial statement to have a different name, I will abide by that and update accordingly (unless the name is, of course, a conflict).

CHANGELOG: I tell you why I did the things and also point out what's different

Because this Clan was so empty and full of orphan warriors, I was able to completely make it however I wanted.

I also tried to make sure that MODERN WindClan is still VERY clean. Most of canon's "orphan warriors" are totally capable of being mixed with just about anyone else who's around in WindClan.

This is so I can accommodate just about whatever the Erins throw at us... within reason of course. Never doubt the Erin's ability to ruin a family tree.

In BB, Sunstrike and Furzepelt have expanded roles and survive to at least TBC, so I decided they would get Slightfoot. They're the kind of girls who would raise a rebel like him.

Ryestalk has been moved out of the Mist/Hare family. I have more need for her as a clean cat; and a better story to tell of her being afraid of tunneling. Her mother, Leafshine, died in a collapse.

I wanted to find some sort of in-between cat for Pigeonflight and Cranberrysplash, but unfortunately, I ran out of cats. She is probably adopted; found abandoned.

Fernstripe might move around in the future; for now she is a later birth to CranberryxDrizzle. If she moves, it'll probably be to SunxFurze.

Whiskernose is older now because I reworked his purpose in the Dark Forest

Drizzlefall was initially Runningbrook's child. When she dies in TNP, Webfoot raised her alongside his own kid, Rustlebush. They are marked as siblings for that purpose.

Mudclaw and Whitewater of ShadowClan had an unimportant fling during the journey. They both agreed it was an honor siring and would be kept quiet-- but Whitewater became a supporter of his during the rebellion.

When Mudclaw was smote by StarClan, she felt that the kittens were cursed.

She contacted Torear and arranged for him to take his nespring, but the night of the meeting, a snowstorm tore through the Clans. She couldn't take the runt, else he would freeze.

So, she kept Owlclaw of ShadowClan, and Harestar and Kestrelflight went to WindClan.

Brushblaze and Snapstorm are both ex-BloodClan, they did trading with WindClan just after the BloodClan battle, when Tallstar and Firestar opened up peace talks with the defeated Scourge.

Hareheatherbreeze and the Onestar Drama

So of course, one of the bigger changes in BB is that Harestar, Heathertail, and Breezepelt are in a polycule. I did a LOT with this fix in mind.

Onestar is now a single kitten. In Clanmew, his prefix is "Ul-arra," a whole fraction.

This was an expression of grief, as his mother Larksplash died in childbirth, along with his siblings. Cloudrunner was distant, unfortunately never recovering from the ordeal.

Him and Larksplash were quite old to be having a litter, and they knew the risks, but Onestar always felt like Cloudrunner blamed him, in a way.

Eventually, he wanted to raise a child. Whitetail honor dammed for him, and offered open coparentage, but Onestar politely declined. It was known Whitetail was Heathertail's parent, but they weren't very close.

Probably through a shared grievance with Onestar and feelings of responsibility over Heather, Whitetail and Brushblaze became very close. They eventually had two kittens-- Smokekit and Galekit.

Onestar interpreted this as them both trying to tell him they knew about Smoke, slipping further into paranoia towards the end.

Heathertail LOVED the two of them right away.

Unfortunately, Brushblaze laid down his life saving Kin refugees, including Heathertail and Breezepelt, by collapsing an escape tunnel on top of himself.

Galerunner and Smokehaze were only a few months old at the time.

Hareheatherbreeze will be keeping Brindlewing, Appleshine, and Woodsong! Brindlewing was first, with Apple and Wood coming in a second litter.

Tallstar's Family

In Tallstar's Collapse, Talltail leaves WindClan for a long period of time. He wandered with Jake and his family of nomads, eventually finding foundling kittens and deciding to adopt them with him.

But, eventually, he couldn't resist the pull of homesickness, and the desire to try and fix things in WindClan. He tried to leave the family he'd made behind-- but Fly followed him.

Talltail, naively, believed that Fly would remain innocent. That the kid would be above the battle culture of the Clans. He was wrong.

Fly became a ferocious warrior, even competing with him for the deputy position. If Talltail hadn't been quick or keen enough to kill an adder that was going for Heatherstar's grand-nephew, Flytail may have become leader of WindClan.

The kit was named Adderkit for this event, later becoming Adderstone.

Flytail, his mate Eagleswoop, and one of his daughters died in the WindClan Massacre. Talltail had already lost two half-siblings in the war.

What was once a large family was reduced to Tallstar, Stoneclaw, Wrenflight and her children.

Stoneclaw put off having kits for a time, eventually having two one-kit litters with her mate, Snapstorm; Buzzardclaw and Crouchfoot.

I know that Tornear earned his name because of the rip in his ear, but I'm certain that Ryestalk named him Tornkit after the feeling she had knowing she'd have to raise him alone after Shrewclaw's death. Cats have torn ears all the time, so I highly doubt that he was named something else, then had his name changed to reflect his new wound. I'm guessing that she named him for a similar reason that Yellowfang named Brokenkit, unless Tornear's torn ear was the result of a birth defect instead of an injury.

This is such a good headcanon

My personal headcanon is that he was born with a ragged looking ear that isn’t fully formed so he’s deaf in it, but I really love this, and it’s probably more likely. I entirely forgot that she had those kits so soon after her mates death.

More warriors OC art!!! I love rambling about my silly little guys!!!

These two had a pretty okay relationship as mentor and apprentice. Heronsight (first cat) is pretty sullen and closed off due to some unfortunate circumstances in her past, such as her mom and godmother dying when she was an apprentice and her sisters dying before she did, but she did her best to be a good mentor. Opalpaw (second cat) really looks up to Heronsight and wants to be a great warrior like her. She also appreciates Heronsight's softer side, as Heron helped Opalpaw (now Opalblaze) through some tough emotions when her mom died.

These two also got along really well! Ratclaw (first cat) has trained a lot of cats in his day and Oakpaw (second cat) was nothing he couldn't handle. Ratclaw has lost a lot of people in his life, from his wife to his children to his mom and aunt, but he doesn't let that get him down. He's lived a nice long life and he's come to terms with those deaths. Oakpaw really admires Ratclaw and they were really close while Oakpaw was training. Even after Oakpaw became Oakclaw, they were buds

Ratclaw died in the fire I mentioned in the last post because he got trapped in a fox trap and couldn't escape. The first thing he saw when he died was his wife, Silvershine (silver ghost w/ orange eyes), and his kids: Swankit (white & black), Batkit (brown & black) and Stormpaw (silver w/ scars). BTW, kits & apprentices who die young get to grow up in SpiritClan because I think it's horrible and morbid that they don't in the books. I only mention that because Swan, Bat & Storm look grown up here

Back to semi-normal stuff.

Coalwing (first cat) has been mentioned before. She is Jadepaw’s aunt. Coalwing is aroace and has never wanted kits of her own. But, when her brother, Firestorm (second cat), and his mate, Onion (third cat), started discussing having kits, she offered to carry them so that they wouldn't have to both with finding a surrogate mom outside of the Clans. She had a stressful pregnancy, what with the fire and having to share a camp with victims of said fire, she is thrilled to get out of the damn nursery. She's only around because she needs to nurse the kits and because these are technically her niece and nephew since they're officially her brother's kits

Now it's time to discuss some family drama. First of all, these are all the kids born around the same time. They're all cousins and we're born in the same moon.

There's Spotpaw (first) and Swanpaw (second) who are littermates. Then there's Wolfpaw (third), Peachpaw (fourth), Brightpaw (fifth) and Tornpaw (sixth)

Wolf, Peach, Bright and Torn are Halffur (who I mentioned in my last post) and Sapphireeyes's kits.

I'll also use this section to let you know about the kits's disabilities because their mom had a pretty complicated pregnancy and it affected them. Wolfpaw has bad eyesight (which actually runs in his family on his mom's side) and is practically blind. Peachpaw is polydactyl (she has an extra toe) but her extra toe sticks up to far to really be useful and it causes her a lot of pain in her paws that she doesn't complain about. Brightpaw has a tightness in her chest that makes it hard to breathe (she has kitty asthma) and talk, so as a result she has decided she is mute and uses a makeshift sign language that the rest of the Clan has come to learn by now. And finally is Tornpaw, whose disability is the most obvious. He was born with a crooked jaw that causes him to have a lisp and it makes it hard to chew and hunt.

Sapphireeyes has always told her kits not to think too much about their differences and to embrace them. Halffur on the other hand...

Halffur noticed Tornkit's jaw when visiting his kits one day and became irate. "No kit of mine will look like this" "he's a freak and he needs to be put out of his misery" etc.

Halffur was going to drown Tornkit when he was attacked by Sapphireeyes's mom, his mother-in-law, Mirrorpool. Mirrorpool and Sapphireeyes teamed up to beat the hell out of Halffur and he was later killed while the battle was in full swing (Fallenbranch dealt the final blow, btw)

Tornkit was luckily unharmed, but hearing about the event as he grew up made him nervous about his jaw.

Peachpaw always jokes that she was next if Halffur had succeeded in his endeavor. No one really likes this joke but her

The kits are honestly just living life now and they like to make light of their situation sometimes.

Wolfpaw especially likes to say that one day he'll go fully blind and he'll be able to use his hearing to catch all the prey in the forest.

Most of the time, at Gatherings (which are called Meetings in my story), the siblings try not to draw attention to themselves and don't really talk about their dad. They don't even acknowledge him as their father, even, just the guy who happened to be half of their DNA (or cat-slang equivalent, ig)

Fidgettrot's eyes opened wide, realizing that this wasn't Fogpaw's first kill, and he collapsed. Dead.

Moon 177-Leaf-bare

This leaf-bare is proving to be a tough one.  Instead of passing on the greencough to Tornkit (4) as the Healers feared, Lightkit (4) died from it.  Additionally, Chervilcry (156) went missing and was found dead out in the territory.  The Clan is in shock that she’s gone.  There are no cats alive who remember a time without the beloved mediator in the Clan.  Peakspots (146) is hit especially hard by her death, as it leaves him as the oldest cat in the Clan.  One day, the Clan will have kittens who never knew Chervilcry in life, but Peakspots vows that Chervilcry’s memory will live on through him.  In a ‘bright’ spot, it seems that Brightfern (19) is widely beloved by the Clan.  She always has a kind word for everyone and has been especially comforting to Peakspots in his grief.   Wildcave (60) is also bonding with his little sister and congratulates her for a job well done.  Despite not being directly related to her, Gladepatch (53) feels fondness for Primcrest (19).  She’s part of the reason that his daughter is leader of the Clan and dark-cursed kittens are no longer killed.  He enjoys discussing Clan news with her.  Volcanoblossom (104) is not a fan of Sleepyfoot (43) and Pigeonspot’s (46) kits.  Elmpaw (7) is always bumping into her and Goldenpaw (7) drives her crazy!  Rabbitfur’s (33) mean streak continues to attract other cats to her.  This time, it’s Shard (74) promising to always look out for her.  Hey, if something works, why change it?  In other news, Glowpaw (13) has been given the warrior name of Glowquake, honoring his support.

why yes! we do have a lot of apprentices! we had a giant kit boom out of nowhere and i've forgotten who most of them belong to! some of them are maplefur and astertoe's, some of them are from jonas' litter that beechbeetle adopted (before jonas ended up joining anyway), some of them might be one of vinebounce and redswipe's 8 billion adopted babies??? also there's tornkit, who unexpected trans stepdad-who-stepped-up beechbeetle just kinda found and brought to the clan. we are drowning in children.
