Interview with Effin' Birds

Toronto Comicon is next weekend! Here's an interview I did with John Swinimer of the True North Country Comics podcast about what I love about cons, my weirdest show experience, and my favourite tools.

When Harvey met Mona from Nanalan at Toronto Comic Con 2024.

I created this piece for Eman Esfandi and had the pleasure of giving it to him as a framed print at Toronto Comic Con! We go up to him, greets my dad and I and asks for our names. He asked what he could sign for us today and I said “Well actually I have something for you.” He said “For me??? REALLY???” So I pulled out the framed print of my art and handed it to him. His reaction was priceless! He said “WOW this is amazing!” After staring at it hard for 20 seconds he said “You know who would love this? Dave Filoni. I’m going to show him.” WHATTT THAT’S INSANE! THE GASP I GUSPED! Anyways, after gushing about how my dad and I loved him in Ahsoka, I got a nice picture with him and my art:

He gave me the biggest bear hug after I gave it to him! He signed my copy of the print and thanked me. We said our goodbyes but as we were walking away, his attendant said to him, “This could be your tattoo!” And Eman went, “OOOH” really loudly and I was once again shook to the core. If this man got my art tattooed on his body you wouldn’t be able to get my jaw off the f*cking floor! Afterwards, my dad and I got a photo op with Eman and Diana (who is also a gem) and that is where I end my retelling of my meeting with the sweetest human on earth, Eman Esfandi. This man is literally Ezra!

Also before the photo op, I quickly asked if he thought Tech was alive. He said “Gosh I don’t know. With all the seasons I-“ and we were cut off by the camera lady. But hey at least I tried!

Had a blast chatting with people and selling my wares!! Met so many wonderful people and hope to see them again some other con ^_^

It was a great time, although I fizzled by the end of the day.

Told by a photographer who did a photoshoot for the 2018 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜-𝐂𝐨𝐧: he started taking photos of him on his left side, and when he told him to change the position of the chair, 𝗧𝗼𝗺 looked straight at him and answered, without any malice: “𝐼 𝑑𝑜𝑛'𝑡 𝑡𝒉𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑠𝑜, 𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒...” 🤭

Contado por un fotógrafo que le hizo una sesión de fotos para la 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜-𝐂𝐨𝐧 de 2018: empezó a hacerle fotos por su lado izquierdo, y cuando le dijo de cambiar la silla de posición, 𝗧𝗼𝗺 le miró directamente y le respondió, sin ninguna malicia: “𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑜 𝑞𝑢𝑒 𝑛𝑜, 𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑔𝑜...” 🤭
