yk that military kid camp i went to? gone for like a week? there were so many homeschooled kids it was crazy. and people that skipped grades. like a 14 yr old is a junior and this 15 yr old is starting freshman in college. made me feel 1) dumb 2) better because i feel like i am inherently less awkward and less socially inept than the average homeschooled kid. i do feel bad a little bit. not a lot.

you are less socially inept than the average homeschool kid I promise. this includes me unfortunately. also don't worry about whether or not they're smarter than you I promise something is still wrong with them

#15 yr old freshman in college is probably just doing dual enrollment which I was SUPPOSED TO DO #but I was lazy and kept putting off taking the practice tests so now I'm a senior. and still haven't started dual enrollment #probably not going to #but yeah a lot of homeschoolers do dual enrollment bc supposedly? the first 2 years of college aren't really major specific #they're like. general classes everyone is required to take. so homeschoolers with flexible schedules have the time and ability #to take those during highschool. they also might just not be taking the highschool versions of those classes at all #like if you can do. entry level college biology or highschool biology well the college one is the same stuff but more in depth #so you don't need to take the highschool class #and then as for the 14 yr old junior well one homeschoolers tend to have less work #I don't really get homework because it's just schoolwork #like I just have to complete things on khan academy #and a lot of in school classroom time is just the teacher trying to manage 20 kids. which isn't a problem here #so I have like. 3-4 hours of schoolwork total in a day probably? you could totally backload more of it #to be finished quicker #anyway they're not any smarter than you they just do school differently in a way that sounds more impressive #but isn't gonna have that big of an effect later #finishing college 2 years early doesn't actually get you anything but your degree 2 years early #ask #ghoultaffy #hi jayme!

GRRR the built in speedpaint / timer thing in ibis is busted for this one drawing I'm working on noooooo. It's saying I've spent 7 hours on it so far but I HAVEN'T I just forgot to close the canvas. Also I thought usually I could do that and it's fine? But this time there's a huge chunk of the speedpaint playback that's just nothing happening so I KNOW it was registering SOMETHING during that time... sad!

#I don't use the speedpaint function for anything but I like the timer feature #I mean ig sometimes I like to watch my own art process just bc it's so sloppy #but that's not the part that's making me annoyed lol #DON'T TELL ME IT'S BEEN THAT LONG... i submitted the 13 applications that were due today! and now just have the four that are left over the next two weeks!

#I still feel iffy about not doing the 14th one today #but they do recommend only applying to 15 total #so I think it’s fine #I’m just nervous because I’m applying to three different types of sites #and normally people tend to apply to two I think #and I’m taking out one of the more lenient ones in terms of the hours and publications they require of applicants #but I have to remind myself that I’m not a great fit for their rotations #so that leniency probably wouldn’t matter anyways #ahhhhhhhh #anyways I’m going to dinner with my cohort tonight to celebrate and I’m excited!#just gotta get through two more sessions and a meeting

#the struggle when 1 of you works office hours and the other 3 work SO irregularly #planning was getting so messy we had to make an excel sheet for who’s available when 😭#by we I mean I. I made an excel sheet. It was fun though. I willingly did it.#see also our planning session. i was thinking character creation would be quick. no. we spent 6 hours.#i was like. it’s only 3 ppl it’s FINE #but turns out when you have to be looking up rules for spells and shit as you go + the players don’t know how to roll for their stats it uh.#Gets a lot messier and more complicated.#Rolling for stats is SO bad to explain. Have you ever tried to explain that to a complete beginner? Don’t. Use the stat block.#Also i did the thing where if their modifiers totaled to less than +2 they get to re roll #nd that meant A LOT of math and A LOT OF REROLLING #also I made them reroll if they were TOO op (one player rolled like 3 15s and a 14…) which also happened unbelievably many times #one of them kept rolling so badly and I was like ok let me roll. and her first stat i rolled fucking 5…#(total modifier sum was like. negative so we scratched that lmfao)#I might change the way I work w stats next character creation session bc it felt like a veeeery flawed way to go about things #But hey at least they got the hang of rolling for stats :D #z talks #not horse game

gods listening to music of artists that i've gone and seen in concert/at raves and just like. reliving the euphoria of the moment when i was there at the live performance like. obviously sitting at my desk with my headphones is not the same as being at a rave or concert but i can kind of capture some of the memory and those good feels are just smth else

#blog post #tw ahead im gonna go on about some dark shit #kind of? idk #like so when i was younger and struggling #by which i mean when i was suicidal from ages 9-18 #one thing i tried when i was 15-18 was making a bucket list and essentially it was stuff i wanted to do before i died because saying #'im at least gonna live to do these things' was SO much easier than saying 'im gonna live the rest of my life' back then #and on that list was going to several concerts (all of which i've done now!!) and like tbh i had my doubts like is a concert good enough #to keep living for (yes) and like what happens after i see these bands in concert (i wait for them to tour again and see them again duh)#(and also see other bands)#and i wish i could go back in time to past us and be like. u were so right. seeing these groups/artists in concert (and the ones i like now #and hadn't heard of back then) is SOO worth it #im so glad i have been alive to go to all the concerts and the rave that i went to in the past year and a half it was so so good #and im so fuckin excited to go to more #there's at least two concerts im planning on going to this spring plus a rave im considering going to (its a three hour drive one way so #idk yet) plus our top favorite band for years is hinting at releasing new music which means a tour!!#im just gettin the feels because im remembering good memories and so fuckin excited to make more good memories #im so glad im alive and honestly that brings tears to my eyes that i can say that totally honestly now #like. i have a cat! i am reconnecting with family i didnt use to be close with! im working on cutting off toxic family! im working on #health issues which is very good. im out as queer and im so happy and proud of that. i have several hyperfixations i love consuming and #cosplaying. cosplaying!! i have so much fun making tiktoks and going to cons and putting everything together its so great!! im starting to #work on my big huge writing project with my coauthors for the first time in years and im soooo excited to revive that old hyperfixation and #share it!! i have an awesome partner who i care very much about and while i recently cut off some toxic friends i have plenty actual #friends that im so glad to have!!#im currently at a job that pays well and that i enjoy which is a win for me and i might possibly be in a position to go back to college #soon which means going into my preferred field which im SO stoked for!! and im actually really excited to go back to college. when we were #in person i had such a great experience and i cant wait to go back #ough

in other news i get two weeks of summer break!!! :D i thought my summer classes were going to just lead me straight into school again but i do actually get some breathing room before it all starts up once more :D

#can't WAIT to be back in french class i'm gonna have so much fun #and like! ten thousand english classes!!!! everybody say yayyyyyy!!!!#gonna see what i'm taking rn actually. chronicle it #taking literary theory + criticism ; us literature 1 ; folklore and mythology ; sacred texts ; nd emerging lit in global context #on the waitlist for the emerging lit one. but i am first on the waitlist so. it's practically my class already #absolutely no doubt that someone will drop if i'm not just allowed to crash #even if i don't get it it's no big deal though honestly! it would be my only tuesday/thursday class so i wouldn't have to be on campus...#spending five days a week on campus is pretty silly. i got through it last semester but it'd be nice not to have that #nd i'm at 18 units with that class so if i don't take it i'll be back down to 15 which is totally reasonable #bracken's favorite hobby is actually being completely insane with his school + work schedule #18 units and i'm still like 'yeah i wanna work 20 hours though'#you have clinical issues. shut up.#anyway hopefully i'll be able to work 20 hours a week on top of this sdkfjghdsf #if monica gives me morning shifts! i can do that easy peasy (afternoon shifts are 5 hours instead of 3 and a half now. kiss kiss)#so two + a half afternoon shifts a week and a couple morning shifts... we're so set #'bracken when will you have time to do homework' that's a problem for me to solve by just not having free time <3 #one of my classes is asynchronous so. ha. haha. i'm sure i'll have appropriate amounts of time to do work.#mondays + wednesdays i have class straight from 1:30 to 7 but it's FINE! it's FINE!#i'm sure i will be very reasonable about it #i got through my three hour 5-8 film lecture last semester. so i can do anything #would i prefer morning classes? oh absolutely. but having the morning for homework will still be good for me #so excited to be back in school i love school so much #( <— has been in school this whole time w/ summer classes )#OH MY GOD I WAS GONNA SAY THOUGH.
