Right before the pandemic hit the globe, Luzon in the Philippines suffered from a volcano eruption that caused ashfall in several provinces. A bunch of Filipino artists got together to raise funds by selling a zine and illustrated postcards. We each chose a beloved tourist spot in the Philippines. Here's mine: Vigan, Ilocos Sur. It was a memorable time of mask-wearing and community initiatives that, kinda eerily, preceded the pandemic. We worked so hard to release it during Feb 2020 Komiket, on top of our own con preparations. It's one of the reasons that that Komiket will always be memorable to me.

My plans for the holy week
Lets dive right in!
Tumblr media
My family on my grandmother's side just invited me out for the holiday. This is very rare for me, not just the fact that my anti-social family just decided to go on an outing, or the fact that I just got invited to it, or the fact that i'm actually going, but the fact that I decided to go with them :DD. For the first time in my life I am in a position to be able to accept an outing invitation stress free without worrying about the people i'm leaving home.
Since This is such a rare opportunity I decided to make the most of it, and to do this I need a plan. Most of my week is going to be spent in Vigan City, a very esteemed and popular location for tourist. I'm looking forward to being able to visit the attractions but to be honest the thing I look forward to the most would be the food.
Tumblr media
My plan to spend the vacation as best as I can is this: 1. Visit Calle Crisologo -This is the most popular tourist spot in Vigan AND RIGHTFULLY SO! the old fashioned design of the spanish era and the opportunity to ride a Callesa. Just the kind of atmosphere to start my vacation, making my mind realize that for the first time in a long time I am free from the shackles of homely responsibilities 2. A trip in history, The Philippine National Museum -I've always been an admirer of history, too bad the spaniards took all of ours away HAHA! BUT EVEN SO our history with them has been a part of history that could never be erased and the beauty in seeing whats left of our history and the dirty history left by them is, in my opinion, it's own kind of beautiful, the yin and yang of our past. 3. Swimming in Mindoro beach - The last day of my vacation should be celebrated in a recreational way, enough about the philosophy its time to sooth my body. The mindoro beach, a beautiful natural heritage located in vigan, The PERFECT place to end my vacation, putting my body at rest along with the memory of this beautiful vacation brought to me by the holy week. Hopefully all goes as planned XD. May everyone have a great Holy Week!

 Vigan
  Magangdang araw po!
Tumblr media
Vigan City
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Vigan Trip
 Hello!
I have been to Vigan for two days 5/11~12 because it was my day off:)
I thought Vigan is close to Baguio but it took almost 6 hours because our bus went on the general road, not a highway!! I was surprised that the bus can stop for every passenger who is waiting for us on the road, like a taxi!
About Vigan City
Vigan is a historical city that was registered on the world heritage list in 1999 because of their cityscape that is lasting how it was in the period of Spanish rule. I have longed to go there but I didn’t know how to go. I have started to live in Baguio and I know I can get there by bus, so I decided to go there!:)☆
My journey☆彡
You can catch a tricycle to go around Vigan. The drivers were waiting for the passengers at the bus terminal, and one of them talked to me. I was a little confused because it was my first time taking it, but he took me to the hotel. It took 5 minutes and cost 40 pesos.
My hotel was located on the center of Crisologo Street which is the main spot of sightseeing. Their antique interior was beautiful!!♡
You can also ride on the Kalesa. It goes around historical spots in Vigan City. The drivers asked me many times if I would ride on, finally I said yes because it would be a nice experience:) Usually you can get off at all of the historical spots like museums, but I could not because they were already closed. I could get off only at the market that was selling handicraft products or objects for the tourists.
I had Empanada for dinner at a restaurant that is popular with tourists.Empanada is famous in Ilocos, that is wrapped fried minced meat, onions and something else, with crispy skins. Once some people who live in Baguio said that Empanada is a perfect meal, that includes all of the stuff(like meat and vegetables),,,;;And I also drinked Cucumber Lemonade for the first time! It really tasted like cucumber and lemon,,,!! They were sold around the city.
On the second day, I woke up early and went to the museum. There were many old machines for weaving machines because it’s an important industry in Vigan. The museum is very small, so it took only 15 minutes to see all of them.
On the first day I didn’t feel it but the second day is too hot, especially in the morning🥵I understood how comfortable Baguio is (^^) I would like to visit many city around the Philippines but I might not be able to get out from comfortable Baguio^^💦

Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines
The capital of the province of Ilocos Sur, Vigan is situated in the northern region of Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. Founded in the sixteenth century, it is the best-preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its architecture reflects the coming together of cultural elements from elsewhere in the Philippines, China, Europe, and Mexico to create a unique culture and townscape without parallels anywhere in East and Southeast Asia. It is a popular tourist destination that attracts more than a million visitors every year.
What to do in Vigan City:
•Visit Calle Crisologo: This is a bustling street lined with ancestral Spanish-era homes and dining establishments. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist spots in Vigan City.
•Explore heritage homes: Vigan is home to several well-preserved heritage homes, such as Arce Mansion, Syquia Mansion, and Crisologo Museum. Each ancestral house offers a glimpse into the lives of the upper class or educated Filipinos during the Spanish colony.
•Try local cuisine: Vigan is known for its famous Ilocano cuisine, including empanadas, longganisa, and bagnet. There are plenty of restaurants and food markets where you can sample these dishes.
Where to stay in Vigan City:
•Paradores de Vigan: This is a historic hotel that offers 26 exquisitely designed rooms. It is located in the heart of Vigan City and is a great place to stay if you want to experience the city's rich cultural heritage.
•Hotel Luna: This is another historic hotel that offers luxurious accommodations. It is located near Calle Crisologo and is a great base for exploring the city
How to get to Vigan City:
•By bus: Vigan is 8-10 hours away from Manila by bus. Several bus companies offer daily trips to Vigan City.
•By private vehicle: You can also drive to Vigan City from Manila. The journey takes around 8-10 hours
Best time to visit Vigan City:
•The best time to visit Vigan City is from November to February when the weather is cool and dry.
A unique and fascinating destination, Vigan City provides a window into the rich cultural legacy of the Philippines. The city's historical sites can be explored, local cuisine can be sampled, and historic hotels can be booked. A sample itinerary can help visitors make the most of their trip, and November to February is the best time to visit.

Typical Information
What is your name? Hello! I’m Robyn.
When is your birthday? April 21st, 25 years ago.
Locations
Where do you currently reside? I’m from the Philippines. Born, raised, residing.
If money weren't taken into account, where would you like to live? Somewhere the citizens are actually taken care of...countries maybe like South Korea, Australia, Germany, Finland, etc.
How many states have you been to? We have provinces instead of states, and out of 81, I think I can say I’ve been to around at least 30. Not a lot, but I’ve definitely traveled around.
How many countries have you been to? Seven, all around Southeast and East Asia.
Which city do you believe has the prettiest skyline? I’ve never been to either, but I would go with New York and Chicago.
What is the prettiest location in your city? I dunno...maybe the local museum. You don’t really go here if you’re a tourist, though. The nearest touristy place would be Metro Manila but even that’s not a very exciting choice because the most you’d be able to do is shop. If you’re going to the Philippines, go to either the beaches or to cities like Baguio and Vigan which are very rich in local culture and history.
What is the best restaurant you've ever eaten at? I honestly don’t think I’ve found it yet. I like exploring restaurants, but I haven’t discovered any that’s been close to like, changing my life.
Have you ever traveled to or through a mountain range? Which one(s)? Yes, the Sierra Madre when we went to Tanay.
If you took someone on a tour of your town, what would you show them? The museum I mentioned and a couple of the bars and cafés that’d give you a view of the Metro Manila skyline.
What is the farthest you've ever been from home? Bali, Indonesia.
Approximately how many times have you traveled by airplane? Enough for me not to be able to count it by hand.
Have you ever traveled by train? Nah. I’ve commuted by train, but I’ve never used it to travel from one side of the country to another, or to a different country altogether.
Have you ever traveled by Greyhound? I have no idea what that is.
What's the farthest distance you've traveled from home for a concert? Around three weeks ago, I flew all the way to Thailand to see BTS’ Yoongi. Seemed to be a universal choice among Filipino ARMY since I can’t even tell you how many people I saw having flights to Singapore, Jakarta, and of course Bangkok as well to see him.
It was awesome. Our flight to and from Bangkok was just jam-packed with fans and you can so easily tell because everybody has BT21 keychains on their bags, BT21 luggage, had on purple tops, etc (including me!). Our flight batch even took a group photo before we departed as a souvenir despite not knowing one another. The whole thing was just such a cool, sentimental experience; I’m very grateful to have been able to experience it all.
Have you been to the Capital of your state? I live in it.
Would you be more in your element camping in a tent or an RV? I’d go with the RV.
Music
Which album could you listen to from start to finish without getting bored? After Laughter by Paramore or Indigo by RM. BTS’ MOTS:7 is SO close to meeting this category but the On remix with Sia had to be on the album.
Who is your absolute favorite band / artist? Beyoncé will always own my heart. I entered late, but I am also a lifer with BTS. Paramore for bands.
Who are some other bands / artists you enjoy? Bruno Mars, SE SO NEON, Twice, Seventeen, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus.
Who is your "Musical Mount Rushmore" (four favorite musicians)? BTS with all their 7 faces smushed into one spot, Beyoncé, Paramore, Bruno.
What is the best concert you've ever been to? Yoongi for the sentimental value, but GOD my crowd fucking sucked I feel like I still have to give best concert to my 2018 Paramore show. I’ll have to tie them. I love Yoongi to death and I had a fucking blast; I just wish the crowd was as hyped up as I was. Can you believe I barely heard anyone in my section singing and rapping along for those two hours? HOLY SHIT?????? Why would you not NANEUN UKHAE the fuck up with Yoongi already right in front of you????
Have you ever met any musicians? Which ones? How were they? Nothing other than a quick run-in with Greyson Chance when he was at a mall I never expected some celebrity to be in.
Are there any musicians you're dying to meet? Not really. I’m okay with not meeting the boys either. I’d much rather admire them from afar.
What is the most recent album you've purchased? That would be Yoongi’s D-DAY.
What is an album you're currently really into? Well, that would also be D-DAY. Partly because of the post-concert depression.
Do you have a favorite genre of music? If so, which one? K-pop.
Have you ever composed a musical piece? Nope.
Have you ever written any song lyrics? I have not.

SURE ILOCOS SUR!
Nakaumay kan kadi dtoy? Naramanam Kadin agiti makan mi? Naamwam kadi nga masa a Lugar ditoy llocos ket nagbalin a parte ti Seven Wonders of the world? No saan pay, Anya paylang ti kukwaem? umay kan ta inta pasyaren ti idul dulin nga pintas ti llocos. But first, let's go through the reasons why llocos should be on your bucket list and why it's the ideal place to spend your holiday.
Ammom kadi? Colonial Spanish history coexists with the vibrant Ilocano culture here in llocos Sur. Also, locos is one of the most historically significant areas in the nation. Hence, it is considered the ideal location for history aficionados and interested tourists alike because of its historically significant buildings. although, if you're looking for a vintage vibe, here are Sta. Maria and Vigan which made the locos twice as famous because of their heritage, and which makes you travel back in time. However, the church of Sta. Maria boasts the Philippines' most memorable architectural designs. While Vigan, which is the capital of llocos Sur, is known as the best-preserved example of a planned colonial town in Asia, and was also named one of the world's seven wonders for its uniquely maintained colonial architecture. Furthermore, since locos Sur is located in a coastal area, several watchtowers were built to protect the province from pirate attacks. The famous Bantay Bell Tower and the Bateria Watch Tower are still intact and have stood the test of time. However, locos Sur is not only known for its historic places but also for its mouthwatering foods like the famous Vigan empanada, pakbet, sinanglao, and longganisa, but these are only some of the appetizing foods of locos. On the other hand, after immersing yourself in history and delectable foods, be amazed by the breath-taking scenery of Pinsal Falls, which is perfect due to the hot weather because of summer. Only some of this are presented to complete your bucket list but If you want to know more, come, visit, and savor locos Sur.
In conclusion, speaking as a proud llocosurian, llocos is rich of heritage sites, culture and people. Today, Ilocos is still remain one of the tourist spot here in Philippines which accommodates more than 50,000 tourists within a year. In fact, visiting locos will surely make you left your heart to it and make your vacation "sulit". Sunga Anya paylang ub ubraem? Umaykan agbakasyon ditoyen!.

Hello Everyone! I'm Denise
Welcome! In this blog I'm going to share with you 3 best places I've visited. I hope that through this blog I can take you with me and together let's explore and discover the uniqueness and beauty of these places.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First is the historic city of Vigan. I've been here when I was in Elementary. Vigan is known for it's preserved Spanish colonial and Asian Architecture. Calle Crisologo, Bantay Church Bell Tower, Vigan Cathedral and Plaza Burgos are the famous tourist spots in Vigan City. Their Empanada and bagnet is a must try delicacy when you visit Vigan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second is the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City. This is the perfect time to visit this place because the weather is very hot and Baguio is known for having cold weather. There are many tourist spots that you can visit here including Burnharm Park, The Mansion, Mines View Park, Botanical garden, Night Market and Strawberry Farm. Your Baguio experience can't be complete without trying their famous strawberry ice cream and strawberry taho. And if you're looking for the best place for buying souvenirs you can go visit their public market, the prices there are much cheaper compared to other souvenir shops.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The closest place that you can visit is Batangas. Taal Batangas which is obviously the home of Taal Volcano. The heritage town of Taal is one option that I recommend if you want to visit places like Vigan which have ancient houses. Some of their tourist spots that you can visit there are Taal Park which is located near Minor Basilica of St. Martin of tours, San Lorenzo Ruiz Steps, Galleria Taal and Taal Volcano.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you want to go to Hongkong Disneyland, Fantasy World located in Lemery Batangas is an option. It would have been the Disneyland of the Philippines if the work on it continued but due to low funds of the Japanese businessman owner it was abandoned and it was now currently run and maintained by the homeowners association. The entrance fee here is only 100 pesos per head and you can take as many pictures as you want. You can also rent royal outfits and dresses inside so your Disney Princess experience will be perfect and memorable.
Those are some of the places I've been to and I hope I can go to many more places in the future. Let's relax, be happy and enjoy life by traveling with our loved ones!

📌Vigan City
Visiting Vigan City is like traveling back in time because of its preserved Spanish Colonial town that even the world considers it as one of the best. Aside from the magnificent Vigan tourist spots, what makes this city well-loved is its historical and cultural significance that feed not just wanderlust but also a traveler’s mind and soul.Vigan City is a World Heritage Site in that it is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines, and is well known for its cobblestone streets, and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction, with colonial European architecture.
Vigan is unique for having preserved much of its Hispanic colonial character, particularly its grid street pattern and historic urban lay out. Its significance also lies on how the different architectural influences are blended to create a homogenous townscape.

Ultimate Vigan Escape: Budget DIY Itinerary for Ilocos Sur Tour
[ TAKEOFFPHILIPPINES.com ] A great time to end my month-long vacation on this New7Wonders in the World, Vigan, Ilocos Sur. Its rich history made it to the list of the Unesco Heritage Site as this city was established roughly 16th century now but still, the preservation of the architectural design are visible in the city even on their urban development program.
The main attraction of tourist here in Vigan is its preservation of almost 187 ancestral house in town, colonial structured churches, donation-driven museums, a free-roaming zoo and local Ilocano restaurants which is a must visit.
Tumblr media
It was an exciting trip that I can’t forget as this was our first trip together with Gab going up north in Ilocos Region. It was really tiring but fun at the same time as we were simply backpackers. You can roam around the city within 2 - 3 days. We’ve got to experience The Ultimate Vigan Escape for a rough estimate of Php 5,000.
Here are a travel guide and a sample DIY itinerary going to Vigan if your planning to visit this city soon.
Where to Ride Going to Vigan?
As Vigan is located here in Luzon, we can either go for a land or air transportation. There are many Vigan Tour Package offerings on every travel agency that you could try. It may include a van going to Vigan for an easy and worry-free trip but As for us, we decided to ride a bus. We felt that the best way to enjoy the trip is to experience riding it on the public transportation.
Tumblr media
We tried Partas Bus using their Online Booking System. There are several bus companies you can try on your Vigan trip but since convenience is our priority we ride on a Partas Bus. I recommend their good and fast service on accommodating our concern during our trip.
Express Bus Via TPLEX Fare: Php 760.00 (1 route, 5 - 6 hours travel time, 1 Stopover in between)
Riding a Partas First Class Express got us the following privileges:
Cuts your travel time by up to 4 hours! (Pasay to Laoag)
No passenger pick-ups along the road
Only one stopover

Touring Around Vigan: Mode of Transportation
Vigan is a capital in Ilocos Sur that you can encapsulate your activities with just a day or two since its just a small town. Tourist spots along the Vigan proper are walking distance from each other but always prepare yourselves with a big bottled water and umbrella since the scorching heat of the sun is very imminent. Places like Baluarte, River Cruise, Mindoro Beach, Bantay Church Bell Tower seems to need to go for a ride since its a bit far.
Tumblr media
The main transportation used by people here is either the tricycle or a kalesa (horse-drawn carriages). If you’re looking for a more intimate time I would suggest riding a kalesa to enjoy the scenery but if you have limited time like us I would prefer riding a tricycle.
Tricycle Fee: Php 20 - up (Depends on the distance)
Kalesa Fee: starts at Php 150
Where to Stay in Vigan?
While exploring the streets of Vigan, we’ve noticed that each corner has numerous choice of hotels, inns and transient houses. Name it! You won’t have any problems looking for one. All you have to do is to be keen in looking for more affordable and cheaper rooms from the internet.
Luckily we found the right tool to search for affordable hotels in Vigan by using Traveloka. Traveloka helps you book your hotels and flights in less than 5 minutes with just a click away. They even had promos that you can use while booking.  You can check their website or download their app on Android and IOS to try it first hand on this travel booking app.
Since we want to visit all the well-known tourist spots around Vigan City with less cost but still has a decent accommodation we landed on Mel Sol’s Inn and Resort at Bantay, Ilocos Sur, a 5-6 minutes tricycle ride from Vigan Proper.

When in Vigan: Where to Go?
We arrived at Vigan earlier than expected, we didn’t foresee that our bus has a new that's why we have ample time to roam around and go to church to start our Sunday with a positive outlook.
Simbaan A Basit
Liberation Blvd, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
It is located at the edge of a Cemetery in Vigan. According to history, the cemetery chapel was built over a century now and it is dedicated to Santo Cristo also known in Ilocos as “Apo Lakay” who is believed to save Vigan’s populace from a plague in 1756 and 1882.
Tumblr media
The chapel’s marker bears that the cemetery was blessed by Rev. Vicente Barreiro on Nov. 9, 1852 but the chapel’s interior now looks modern with all the repairs done through the years. Its name "Simbaan a Bassit" literally means "Small Church", since it’s a small it can only accommodate up to 100 people.
Tumblr media
Vigan Heritage Village - Calle Crisologo
Crisologo, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
After a mass at Simbaan A Basit, we decided to stroll around Vigan and search the well known Vigan Heritage Village wherein it was considered as a UNESCO Heritage Site as it helps out preserved the culture and history of Ilocos Region.
Tumblr media
You can explore those old houses with a century older than me by riding a Kalesa (horse wagon)  or by simply walking on the streets, as it also helps out burn some calories. It is much appreciated during the night as you can feel the romantic ambiance and stunningly beautiful light post in the area.
Mostly you can have your dinner on this streets as they have plenty restaurants to choose from and buy some cool stuffs on souvenir shops.
Tumblr media
Vigan Cathedral / St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral
Burgos St., Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
After not so far from Vugan Heritage Village you can visit again a nearby church. Vigan Cathedral, It is a Roman Catholic Cathedral in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. It serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia.
According to history, The church itself was built in 1641 to replace the chapel and became a cathedral when the seat of the Diocese of Nueva Segovia was transferred here from Lal-lo, Cagayan in 1758, but not before being ravaged by a fire in 1739.
Tumblr media
The Cathedral of Vigan, as it is sometimes called, is a stunning tribute to Baroque architecture modified by the Ilocanos to survive earthquakes. It also has a bit of Chinese influence thanks to the carvings of lion dogs beside the outermost doors.
Plaza Salcedo
Plaza Salcedo, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
Tumblr media
Right in front of Saint Paul Metropolitan Cathedral is the Plaza Salcedo, named after the Spanish conqueror, Juan de Salcedo who subdued the early native settlement in Vigan and established upon it Villa Fernandina for the monarchs of Spain in 1572. With this, Juan de Salcedo founded the third of many Hispanic settlements in the Philippines. Plaza Salcedo was the site of the execution of Gabriela Silang in September 1763.
According to history, the plaza was susceptible to fire during the Spanish regime. So the plan then was to create a man-made lagoon to minimize fire incidents. The original concept dating back several years ago is retained until March 2013 wherein a dramatic addition has been added to the once quiet and laid back park in between the Vigan Cathedral and the Ilocos Sur Capitol. The addition is a majestic dancing fountain.

MGA NATATANGING LUGAR SA VIGAN ILOCOS SUR HANGGANG SA VIGAN ILOCOS NORTE.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
(Ang litrato ay mula sa Four Square City Guide https://foursquare.com/v/mcdonalds/4dc0a25dfa8c91858b35f630)
    … at Max’s Restaurant
Tumblr media

Sure! ILOCOS asSURes relaxation😌💖
Tumblr media
Let's take a tour and go back and forth to this pleasant place!
Good day tourists! I am Jheslyn D. Uclusin, a member of Department of Tourism assigned to promote tourist spots in Ilocos Sur that assures happiness, greatness, refreshment, felicity and relaxation. I will make sure that you might encounter the best travel experienced here in Ilocos Sur. What are we waiting for? Come on, join me to enjoy the beautiful places here in Ilocos Sur😉.
The province is known for its rich culture, arts and history, the heritage sites, adventure parks, and of course, the food. But this time, we'll be putting the highlight on the beautiful places to visit here in Ilocos Sur.
Vigan is the capital of the province. Vigan is famous for its well-preserved Spanish Colonial town, historical Vigan tourist spots, and delicious food and delicacies. Because of its charm, it has been inscribed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Joining a day to trip to Vigan is a good idea if you want to explore other tourist spots as well.
1. Calle Crisologo
Tumblr media
Calle Crisologo is Vigan’s most popular tourist attraction. The grounds and pavements of this preserved street are made of cobblestones, and both sides are lined with ancestral houses that are reminiscent of old Spanish towns.
During the daytime, the street is a busy commercial district, with most shops selling quality antiques, furniture, and jewelry pieces.
You can indulge yourself in souvenir shopping, including native food products and delicacies, or snag world-class hand-woven clothing, blankets, and other accessories at Rowilda’s Weaving.
You can ride a kalesa (horse-drawn carriage), which is the only vehicle plying Calle Crisologo.
A kalesa ride is good for an hour and can take you around Calle Crisologo and the rest of the Vigan Heritage Village, including the Vigan Cathedral and Plaza Burgos.
It’s a totally different scene at night, as Calle Crisologo transforms into a dining strip where loads of people eat alfresco and enjoy drinks to cap the night off.
There are a lot of Calle Crisologo tours to try from, make sure to choose the one that fits your budget, schedule, and type of experience.
2. Pagburnayan Jar Factory
Tumblr media
The address is Liberation Blvd, Vigan City. One good thing about touring Vigan is that you get to learn a lot about its history, culture, and way of life through the town’s homegrown establishments.
Take for example Pagburnayan Jar Factory, one of the very few remaining jar factories around Vigan. It’s a popular must-try cultural activity in Vigan.
In order to help people appreciate the industry of jar-making, the factory is open for tourists who want to see and experience pottery making first hand, from simple, basic designs to more artistic earthen jars.
The staff will also tell you an interesting background about the origins of pagburnayan, the art of producing jars, which was inspired by Chinese traders who came to settle in Vigan and then later intermarried with Ilocanos and Ilocanas.
Tumblr media
Located within a good walking distance from Plaza Salcedo, this plaza is named after Padre Jose Burgos, whose statue stands as a reminder of the priest’s martyrdom in fighting the Spanish regime.
Here, you can take pictures, go people watching, or simply give your tired legs some resting time after a long walk around the area.
If you’re feeling hungry, you can grab a quick bite of the best-selling empanada, a kind of pastry turnover filled with minced meat, vegetables, and egg, which is one of Ilocos’ specialty food products on this side of the town.
It’s best to come here in the late afternoon or just before the sun sets since it can get pretty hot in this open space.
If you want to visit more tourist spots in Vigan, City just click this link:
3. Kaparkan Falls
Tumblr media
Kaparkan falls located at the Tineg, Abra. Abra’s falls come alive during the rainy season which is sometime from August to September. The rest of the year it stays dry leaving the limestone terraces empty. Even if you want to visit during the dry season, you won’t be able to because the area is closed off.
As mentioned, Kaparkan Falls is regulated by the local government. The max carrying capacity of the falls is 100 people at a time so visitors are only allowed in batches. Three hours are allotted per batch so maximize your stay at this natural wonder! Keep in mind that you might have to wait for your turn if a group arrives before you.
You can further climb down the pools to explore the area more. The limestone steps are not slippery despite being wet, but exercise caution anyway. Please be advised that there is no rest room in the area.
4. Sangbay ni Ragsak (Falls of Happiness)
Tumblr media
Sangbay ni Ragsak is located at the Suyo. It was first named as Burayok and named Sangbay ni Ragsak by Barangay Captain of Patoc-ao August of 2007. It is approximately 30 m in height. Its natural formation is inherent to mountain terrain. It attracts local and foreign tourists seeking ecological and natural surroundings to enjoy. Its pool area is not deep for diving. Nevertheless, it’s good for dipping with its cool waters.
5. Banaue Rice Terraces (Filipino: Hagdan-hagdang Palayan ng Banawe)
Tumblr media
The Banaue Rice Terraces are terraces that were carved into the mountains of Banaue, Ifugao, in the Philippines, by the ancestors of the indigenous people. The terraces are occasionally called the "Eighth Wonder of the World". It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand. The whole address is  Nueva Vizcaya - Ifugao - Mountain Province Rd, Banaue, Ifugao.
8.  Yamashita Cave
Tumblr media
Yamashita Cave is located at the Cervantes. Yamashita cave was the barracks of General Yamashita during the World War II wherein he and his soldiers executed their last stand in the war. The cave was found in the depths of the mountains. Rumors said that treasures are found beneath the cave which has the range of 64 meters.
9. Skyline
Tumblr media
The whole address of this skyline is Santiago - Banayoyo - Lidlidda - San Emilio - Quirino Rd, Quirino, Ilocos Sur. Visitors planning to visit the place would have to travel roads that could remind them of their Baguio City trips with all the long, winding and steep roads.  As visitors traverse the twisty mountain road, they would surely feel the temperature getting much cooler.  Drivers really need to be more defensive as visibility sometimes gets reduced due to fogs.
So you can witness for yourself the unfolding of the breath-taking yet sometimes rare sea of clouds, it is advised to travel early so you can arrive at around 5 AM.  If you are lucky as we were, the clouds will be there for your enjoyment.
Skyline has a view deck and they are currently constructing a new one.  When it is clear and it’s not foggy, the view deck offers a bird’s eye view of Quirino, Ilocos Sur, Tubo mountains and the Abra river.  Often in late afternoons, fogs would descend and there won’t be much of a view.  Your only consolation would be the teeth-clattering wind.
The place is gaining popularity here in Ilocos Sur and in our neighboring provinces like Abra and La Union.  Some riders from Baguio and Manila even take a detour to Quirino just to avail themselves of the sea of clouds without having to see one in Mt. Pulag.
For the hungry visitors, there’s a nearby store that offers hot water and cup noodles.  But of course, you can always bring your own coffee and snacks.  Just be sure to leave nothing but your footprints.  For a better outdoor experience, some visitors would even bring their camping tents and stay there overnight.
10. Hidden Garden
Tumblr media
The address is  008 Katipunan St, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.  Hidden Garden features a restaurant and a cafe in a relaxing setting filled with tropical plants and flowers, carved wooden sculptures, and lots of clay pots. Taste some local delicacies at the restaurant or just walk around the garden past a bonsai corner, an artificial grotto, and a large birdcage housing white cockatoos. You can also buy some plants and burnay jars--unglazed traditional pots typical for Vigan. So you must bring money and personal hygiene etc.

Byahero Adventures
Tumblr media
Instant roller-coaster ride, Enchanted Kingdom who?

Hi! I am Christine Joy Ullero, and I would like to introduce the Department of Tourism to promote Tourist Spot in Ilocos Sur. So let start.
Tumblr media
Ilocos Sur tourist spots and Vigan always tops the mind. While it’s undoubtedly fascinating, Ilocos Sur is more than the cobblestone streets of Vigan.
The province is known for its rich culture and history, the heritage sites, adventure parks, and of course, the food. But this time, we’ll be putting the highlight on the beautiful places to visit in Ilocos Sur.
1.Calle Crisologo
Tumblr media
If you want to travel back in time, Calle Crisologo is the best place to be. This tourist spot in Vigan City is a street of old Spanish structures, mostly houses of wealthy families and Filipino-Chinese traders. This is where you’ll see the famous cobblestone streets that represent Vigan’s image.
2. Vigan Cathedral
Tumblr media
Another Vigan Ilocos Sur tourist spot to check out is the St. Paul’s Cathedral. Also known as Vigan Cathedral, it is considered a major religious landmark not only of northern Luzon but the country as well. The original structure was built in 1574 with wood and thatch. It was just a mere chapel then. It was only in 1641 when it was turned into a church and was completed in 1800.
The Vigan Cathedral follows a Baroque architectural design that has been modified by Ilocanos to strengthen the structure against earthquakes which is known as “Earthquake Baroque.” Don’t miss this as it is one of the most beautiful Vigan tourist spots.
3. Bantay church Bell Tower
Tumblr media
The Bantay Church Bell Tower served as the town’s watchtower in 1591. The magnificent view that this tourist attraction in Ilocos Sur may have been the reason why it was supposedly “Diego and Gabriela Silang’s favorite date spot during the 17th century.”
4. Baluarte Resort and Mini zoo
Tumblr media
Looking for a tourist spot in Vigan City that kids would love? You’ll never go wrong with Baluarte Resort and Mini Zoo. Just 10 minutes away from Calle Crisologo, Baluarte Resort and Mini Zoo lets you get close to nature’s wonderful creatures from cute little birds to big cats a.k.a. tigers. This Vigan Ilocos tourist spot is also dubbed as the “Home of the Big Cats in Vigan,” as it shelters Bengal tigers, white lions, and leopards.
5.Crisologo Museum
Tumblr media
Crisologo Museum is an ancestral home-turned-museum belonging to one of Vigan’s most prominent sons, the late congressman Floro S. Crisologo. His wife, Carmeling, had their home converted in memory of Floro after he was assassinated in Vigan Cathedral.
6.Plaza Salcedo
Tumblr media
Located between Vigan Cathedral and the Provincial Capitol, Plaza Salcedo is a great spot for picture taking at day and turns to a stage of dancing lights at night. The water in the fountain is always right on cue and dances to the beat of the music. What a sight to catch while munching on the best Vigan empanada. Don’t miss this Vigan Ilocos tourist spot for a fun night!
7.Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone
Tumblr media
If you’re looking for some adrenaline rush, add Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone to your Ilocos Sur itinerary. Here you can ride a zip line that  traverses the towns of Santa and Bantay, so you have a perfect view of the Abra River down below as well as the old and new Quirino bridges.
The sports and recreation facility also offers more adrenaline-pumping activities like a giant swing, kayaking, and rock climbing and rappelling at the rocky Banaoang mountains. This is definitely one of the most fun tourist spots in Ilocos Sur that’s hard to miss.
