A few moments from my very first traditional Indian wedding. My maternal family and I gathered to celebrate the union of my cousin and his bride in beautiful Balito in Durban. This was my second trip to the warm coast and I was absolutely in love with this side of the world and deeply honored to bare witness and participate in a traditional Hindu ceremony. The brides family were so generous and provided us with traditional saris to wear, this was my first time in one and I didn’t want to take it off. To sing OM together in grace, dance together in joy and bless the hands and feet of the bride and groom with turmeric, as well as have my own Mehndi done was so special. The effort, the place, the natural splendour of this African earth and family gathering in love was a treat that my heart really needed. I Am thankful for the time well spent, the beauty adorned and the love well shared. - TRU

Kanzu Traditional Attire These traditional outfits are mostly won during traditional ceremonies such as introduction parties, giveaways, coronation ceremonies, burial ceremonies among others in Central Uganda. This masculine outfit looks similar to a tunic and is mostly composed of a white or cream fabric. It’s made from silk, cotton, poplin, or linen. Linen kanzus are the most expensive. The Kanzu unlike other specific attires cuts across several tribes and almost all Ugandan men wear it during cultural functions. The Kanzu has a make of a dress and the men usually wear trousers beneath it plus a coat over their shoulders to match with it. Philly Wedding Planner: Meghana & Shan’s Wedding

Meghana and Shan were married on June 23rd, 2017 at the beautiful WoodsEdge Farm in Stockton, New Jersey. Their wedding was a beautiful outdoor wedding that consisted of many Indian traditions. From the attire, henna artwork, the ceremony and reception, everything turned out to be the perfect day for their wedding.

Not only were we in awe of Meghana and Shaun’s attire and ceremony but we also especially loved a few unique and fun additions they had on their big day.

For their first look, Meghana coming out in her wedding attire, she decided to make more of a surprise and dress up in a dinosaur costume. How awesome is that?!

Llamas made an appearance on Meghana and Shan’s wedding day which was another fun idea to include in their wedding photos.

Instead of a limousine or a carriage Meghana and Shaun decided to use a tractor to take guests from point A to point B. 

Meghana decided to change dresses for the reception and we couldn’t decided which dress was more stunning!!

Along with the fun additions to the wedding, Meghana and Shan’s wedding was the perfect summer wedding. Their ceremony was beautifully decorated with hanging floral and drapery on a luscious green piece of land. Their reception was then moved to the barn on the WoodsEdge Farm grounds. From the long rectangle tables, sparkling hanging lights, and the barn additions, Meghana and Shauna’s wedding was a dream come true.
