8/24 Triathlete Theme 🚴‍♂️🎶
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found probably what will by my favorite theme from this game!! And potentially the best encounter theme for any trainer class I’ve ever heard!! The encounter theme for Triathlete has no business being this good and now I have such a big soft spot for this trainer class. It’s seriously so good! Definitely check it out!
Ran into a Roselia that I thought could be a good addition to the team since I like to have a Pokémon that can paralyze to make captures easier and stun spore can hit ground types! But it proved to be a bit too weak in battle and Spark (Minun) being an electric type better covered my weak points of my team; beating water and flying which destroy my Mega (Blaziken). So unfortunately Bud (Roselia) will be booted as soon as I can find one of my late game team members! Almost half way through the gyms and I still have so many temporary team members T.T
Also Machop is mainly there for strength which is why he doesn’t get a nickname. I prefer not to use Pokémon that don’t come out in the gen I am playing unless there is a special reason like shiny or mega.

Pokemon 25th Anniversary Blog Post
Time for something that I rarely do here... an actual blog post!
So, have you been enjoying your Pokemon Day? How did you like the news?
As for the Pokemon Legends: Arceus game, I am absolutely excited. This is something that will surely bring some freshness to the franchise, which admittedly has been drowning in its own clichés for years. What exactly will it bring? Who knows. It is way too early to deem it good or bad - unlike the other revealed title, we just don't know what to expect. So, surely I will be looking forward to the updates, though I guess this may not be any time soon. So far, the game's overworld looks like one big Wild Area. This looks like much fun to explore, but also like something that may get boring after a while. I hope that the developers find a way to make the game exciting at the long go and prepare some interesting plot. I am especially interested in its backstory aspect - I hope that despite the wilderness, we do get to see some familiar places in their ancient form. For example, I would love to see what Solaceon Ruins were before they became, well... ruins. But what excites me the most is the possibility of future "Legends" games. I mean, "Pokemon Legends" sure sounds like some ongoing side-series, right? And Johto-based Legends game is something that I would DEFINITELY want to see in the future. Johto is literally made for it - it has ancient ruins, Pokemon version of Kyoto, geishas, Legendary towers, ninjas in Mahogany etc. It would be a sin not to do that! Also, if the Sinjoh Ruins is somehow integrated into Legends: Arceus's plot, then we might even get a hint of such a game in the future. This is definitely something that I see great potential in. But what will we really get? Only time will tell. By the way, what names do you call the protagonists of this game? I jokingly call them "Koukiemon" and "Hikarihime" but maybe someone already invented better names. I hope that they do get some official names.
As for the other big reveal, the long-awaited Diamond & Pearl remakes - Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, my feelings are rather mixed. Don't get me wrong, I am sure that they will be great games, just like the originals were. But comparing them to previous remakes, I can't help but feel somewhat disappointed. I'm not gonna lie, the remakes were mostly about graphical progress to me. Getting a familiar but more polished and more realistic version of the old game's world, translating it into the visuals of modern games. This remake lacks this aspect. I am not saying this is a bad approach per se, the problem is that they decided to take this approach at this point, after the general standard of what a Pokemon game remake should be like has been long but established. If the remakes were always like this, it would be okay and nobody would complain. But looking back to the previous remakes and how they represented their respective regions, seeing that Sinnoh got this kind of approach feels somewhat... unfair. Also, the game's general aesthetic and how different it is from other modern core series Pokemon games makes it feel somehow detached from its generation. All previous remakes were full-fledged core Pokemon entries that could (and often did) influence the series and bring something new to it, while BDSP seems more like a one-time affair which is going to have no bearing on the series's future. It also lacks this unpredictability aspect that PLA has. What we've seen so far seems to say much about the game as a whole - we pretty much know how to expect with little room for surprise, unless the devs throw some curveball at us. The game's visuals philosophy also limits its usefulness for my character collection. The character models are pretty much direct representations of their overworld sprites from DP (except even more caricatural), so they are not really representative of the character in question - not something I would use for my collection (it would be like using GameBoy or DS overworld sprites...). Of course, important characters will get artworks (not a big fan of the game's artwork style, but this is purely subjective) but since the designs are preserved almost 1:1, these will not be as exciting as in previous remakes, where we were wondering about character redesigns. Some were good, some were strange or controversial, but they were just one more puzzling aspect of each remake, which BDSP lacks. One good use I see for these remakes, though, are the models for Trainers in battle (which are kept in similar aesthetic as LGPE, which is detailed just enough for me). I hope that all Trainer Classes make it and nobody gets cut (the question is legit, since ORAS removed Female Triathletes and Psychics). I still hope that, despite the rather underwhelming first impression, the new remakes do hide something nice for us and that they will bring some goodies to my character collections, which I will be happy to post here. After all, LGPE which felt similarly underwhelming (and still ranks rather low in my subjective Pokemon games ranking), did have some nice things after all.
Happy 25th Anniversary, Pokemon fans! Maybe the future isn't bad! Let's hope that the new surprising game breaks the routine.

"Doing Gyrotonics with Bob has been a lifesaver."
"I’ve been working with Bob for a number of years as I’ve gone through some health crises. I’m a former athlete and dancer who has gone through a number of accidents and bouts with disease, although I’ve always been committed to being as physically active and strong as possible. Doing gyrotonics with Bob has been a lifesaver. I’ve maintained and gone way beyond my expectations for range of motion and strength. Bob is gentle, but highly supportive of my pushing myself (without hurting myself) to reach my maximum physical potential. I had been a professor at the top medical school in San Francisco many years ago and could not imagine having a better person to work with than Bob anywhere in the world. To work with him in Maui exceeds all expectations."
– GEORGE FEIN, Ph.D. President and Senior Scientist Neurobehavioral Research, Inc.
“A True Teacher”
"When my husband and I decided to schedule a few Gyrotonic classes while on vacation in Maui, we thought we knew what we were signing up for: As seasoned Gyrotonic students, we figured it would keep us fit between tiki bars. We were delighted to find so much more — In Bob we found a true teacher — an inspiration to explore our bodies and ourselves more deeply. Bob is an embodiment of authentic movement, with deep knowledge of the Gyrotonic system, who guides students to understand the dance of moving in, and through, this world with energy, joy, and ease.
We continued to return to Maui to train with Bob, ultimately even doing our 10-day instructor pre-training with him."
– ALANA AND ERIC
“Talented & Conscientious”
“Twenty years ago I met Bob and began my Gyrotonic training with him, and we are still great friends. Through his kindness and encouragement, I became certified and eventually opened my own studio.
Bob is a true professional — a talented and conscientious teacher. He is demanding, yet kind, and designs his teaching to fit each individual's needs.
Because of Bob, Gyrotonic has become my lifelong passion and journey.”
– OBLIO WISH, Owner, Gyrotonic Sat Nam
“Unwinding Unconscious Patterns”
"Bob has a way of seeing and unwinding unconscious patterns that stress the system, and then re-working them so you move effortlessly.
Working with Bob, I experience profound improvement in my physical, mental and emotional health. Not only do I feel better in my body — stronger, fewer aches and pains, standing taller, etc — but I witness an impact in my day-to-day experience.
Bob is committed to my growth and development. He is a true healer and is 100% focused and present every time we work together. He is refreshingly trustworthy and respectful."

The Art Of The Fartlek
Tumblr media
Invigorate your training by differing between rapid as well as slow-moving running.
The word itself usually stimulates a chuckle, but a fartlek session is anything but a joke of a workout.
Fartlek is a Swedish word that implies "speed play," however virtually it suggests you're playing with rate by alternating in between faster as well as slower bouts of running throughout a workout. The length and also rate of the much faster "pick-ups," along with the slower recovery intervals, will certainly differ depending upon your training focus, yet the alternating between faster as well as slower runs in a non-stop run will certainly be comparable.
Fartlek training is a secure and efficient method to jump-start and also tweak your training after you've put in a couple of weeks of base training. Plus, rotating speeds during an exercise can be a great deal of fun as compared to running the very same pace for something like a common 45-minute run.
"One of the most crucial facet of a fartlek is that you never stop running," states Kevin McCarey, a San Diego-based running trainer. "This makes the fartlek a continual run and also even more like a race itself, instead of an interval exercise where you stop and also rest, which you would certainly never ever perform in a race."
McCarey has stressed the fartlek throughout structured, extreme phases of training while coaching a number of prominent endurance athletes, including Canadian runner/triathlete Carol Montgomery, Olympic triathlon silver medalist Michellie Jones, U.S. 50K document holder Josh Cox, and also a big team of UNITED STATE Olympic Trials qualifiers, consisting of 2003 marathon globe championship rival Tamara Lave, who ran a 2:37 Public Relations while functioning full-time as a lawyer.
While a fartlek can be done on any type of surface, McCarey chooses a huge lawn field, as it enables slower professional athletes to cut edges and effectively compete with the quicker professional athletes, pressing them to new heights in the process.
"I urge everyone to cheat, cheat, cheat," McCarey says. "That is just one of the very best components regarding doing fartleks on a huge yard area."
McCarey likewise requires his athletes to regroup after every interval, with the faster athletes running back in the direction of the slower professional athletes throughout the pause.
"This enables many individuals at various abilities to run together and also boost in a way that they never ever can if they were running on their own, or even with a group of runners that are much more their speed," says McCarey, that additionally likes that his athletes, regardless of their ability, obtain their heart rates elevated for the exact same duration of time.
Fartleks could likewise be implemented beforehand in a training phase, when an athlete is returning from a break or returning from injury.
"If someone is returning from an injury or time off, they're not visiting be in terrific form, and also it can hurt someone's self-confidence if they go to a track as well as do a workout at slower times than they would usually run," claims Michael McKeeman, a trainer at Run Mammoth Efficiency Mentoring and also a longtime training companion to American marathon document owner Deena Kastor.
To counter this ego strike, McKeeman will frequently have his athletes run fartleks over rolling hills or on a big lawn area.
"I'll utilize the setting to assist draw up just what the fartlek will certainly be," states McKeeman. "I could tell them to run hard on the uphills and also take it easy on the downhills. Or, if I recognize a professional athlete wants to run around a huge sports area, I may inform them to run hard on one side of the field and also unwind on the other."
McCarey likewise takes advantage of the setting throughout specific fartlek workouts. If it's ever before drizzling or gusty during a fartlek exercise, McCarey will have his professional athletes run 90-second periods with the wind, properly offering their bodies a speed boost and educating them how to effectively run at a pace they could not preserve without the aid of the wind. His athletes will then run back to the location they began the very first 90-second period, so that they can use the wind each time.
Like McCarey, McKeeman also uses fartlek exercises throughout more structured phases of training, with his athletes usually finishing one session a week. Both trains believe speed control during fartlek exercises is crucial, and also novices commonly run their fartleks as well hard.
"The majority of beginners do the rate phase of the fartlek also quick, which could require them to stroll during the exercise," McCarey claims. "But this is actually the contrary suggestion behind a fartlek. You ought to never ever, ever stroll."
Nevertheless, if a jogger makes a pacing blunder and also is decreased to a stroll, McKeeman claims to merely chalk it approximately a knowing encounter.
"People have the tendency to assume they're not running hard sufficient when they're not seeing divides," McKeeman states. "They run as well hard and afterwards they're trashed at the end of the fartlek, yet the vital part is they gain from this, so that when they remain in a race they'll have a better sensation for exactly how tough they should be going."
McCarey states that professional athletes who lack a solid running background should not do greater than 5 x 2-minutes difficult with 90 secs of simple running in between when very first beginning out. National class age-group joggers, on the various other hand, will do upwards of 3 x 10 minutes with 5 mins of very easy running in between. The rate must be one they could keep throughout the exercise, but the initiative will certainly obtain substantially harder as the exercise proceeds.
As a basic guideline, McCarey says that periods of 2 to 4 mins should be countered with 90 seconds of easy jogging, periods of 5 mins should be countered with 2 minutes of simple jogging, and also periods of 10 minutes ought to be responded to with 5 mins of easy jogging. McCarey suches as to finish every fartlek workout with 4 to 6 40-second strides over a tiny hill, with 1:20 of very easy jogging in between.
These strides-- short pickups carried out slightly faster compared to 5K race pace-- teach joggers to hold their type at the end of the race, and capital improves the athlete's general stamina and also assists produce a mini-core exercise.
Every four weeks approximately, McCarey likewise throws a timed mile to the end of his fartlek session, where all his runners line up at the start of a pre-measured mile and run the full range as fast as they can.
"This is where every person wants to go all out," McCarey states. "The mile is used as a measuring stick, to make sure that athletes can see if they are enhancing."
Practice fartleks by doing this, and you'll be seeing your following PR in no time at all.
Sample Fartlek Workouts
Do these workouts when every various other week for 2-8 weeks before an offered race.
Marathon Training: 5 x 5 mins at marathon race speed with 5 minutes of very easy running in between.
Half-Marathon Training: 8 x 3 minutes at half-marathon race speed with 3 minutes simple running in between.
Speed Builder:8-10 x 30 secs tough (around 10K race rate) with 2:30 mins very easy running in between.
Speed Endurance Generator: 5:00 -4:00 -3:00 -2:00 -1:00 pickups with half time recovery in between. Beginning at 5K rate and get progressively much faster with each pick-up.
Race Tune-Up: 2 x 4 minutes at 10K speed with 2 mins simple jogging in between, 2 x 3 minutes at 5K speed with 2 minutes running between, 2 x 2 mins much faster than 5K speed with 2 minutes easy jogging in between.
