Great day in Kelowna today. I walked a bit, I found a new friend (how cute is this puppy), I got tons of reference pictures. I finally decided for gouache since I was going to be on the bike all day and I had forgotten (white, blue and violet oil paint🤦‍♀️). I found this little beach with a table and started to paint. Had lunch, more bike, and another gouache at the beach on the city park. Incredible city to enjoy good times. I got just 2 blocks out to the mountains and I found a homeless city. High contrasts as everywhere. There is something about documenting your finds in the field in an artful way. Notes on color, shape and texture of something observed in nature allows you to add details that might later be forgotten. I love sketching in the field. 🗺️✈️ These are my travel journal pages from the trip to Jekyll Island, Georgia! 🌴 On the way to Tampa, Florida, we stopped at Jekyll Island—an incredibly picturesque destination. 📸 The area is well maintained, boasting cleanliness, lush greenery, and a relaxing atmosphere. 🌿 I crafted this journal page using the visitor center's illustrated map 🗺️. Thanks to @robifiser for suggesting that I paint Lake Bled in Slovenia, a place I never would’ve heard about otherwise! It’s a beautiful lake with an island that houses this gorgeous old church. Apparently grooms once carried their brides up those stairs. Yikes! Anyway, you get there on a lovely boat similar to a gondola called a pletna and there is also an old castle to visit and there is a type of cream cake you’ll want to try and it just all sounds real nice right about now. It even looks pretty in the snow, as you can see at @bledlake.
