GIRL TALK is a five member fictional girl group under Delphi Entertainment consisting of Soojin, Minji, Holly, Mei, and Yuuri. Starting as a pre-debut project, GIRLISH, in early 2017, each member was introduced to the public through a solo promotional single and dance and song covers. GIRL TALK was set to debut on November 1, 2017 but their debut was delayed due to unknown reasons. They debuted on May 5th, 2018 with the digital single Summer Dream. Their debut was received well by the public, quickly rising their way up to stardom.

Despite their rising domestic popularity, GIRL TALK did not become successful internationally until 2019 with their song Fancy, a mature concept, a stark contrast to their usual bubblegum pop sound while maintaining their upbeat style.

Dubbed the Princesses of K-pop, they are considered one of the most successful Korean girl groups internationally. They are stylistically recognized by their versatile sound ranging from bubblegum pop to girl crush to funk rock.

GIRL TALK is considered to be one of the best live vocal groups in K-pop and is known for their highly synchronized and complex dance routines, having been awarded the Best Dance Performance Award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards two times in a row for their dance performance.

Six Sentence Sunday/Creative Proof of Life

This WIP post is basically a proof of life statement. I can't believe it's been over a month since I posted Chapter 1 of the Haunting of Simon Snow. I'm so overdue for chapter 2, BUT... instead I finished writing the rough draft. I've been attempting to outline, because when I rough a draft, I really rough it up. Ahem.

So I have been working on it, even if there is zero evidence on AO3 as of yet.

How about some sentences? I haven't sliced up chapters yet, so not sure if this is from chapter two or three, but here's a snippet of Simon on the phone with Penny expressing some smooshy sentiments:

I curl up on the couch a bit more, maneuvering myself so my wings aren’t crushed. “I went flying last night,” I confess then, in quiet tones. Like someone might hear me. “You— Oh, but… You can’t! What if someone sees you?” I can actually hear her biting her lip. She wants to spell my problems away, and she can’t. “But I can,” I say, smiling a bit more. “There’s no one around for acres. No one will even willingly drive here on account of the house being haunted. It’s empty. And I’m flying at night.” I say flying in the present tense and realize I fully intend to fly again tonight.

Penny huffs. Her specialty. “I don’t like it.” “I do,” I say easily, warming up to explaining, hoping she’ll understand. “It’s so freeing, Pen. Like the weight of the world can’t hold me down, anymore. I feel… It’s like… It’s like I’m closer to the stars. Like I’m close to stirring up the milky way.” I let out a sigh, my eyes closing as I drop my head back, indulging in that recent memory. “I don’t hate it as much, when I’m up there. You know?” There’s a few seconds of silence, and I open my eyes again. “Pen?” “Hate what?” she asks quietly.

Fun facts about my ineffecient writing process:

I spent more than one or two hours clearing asterisks from my rough draft this morning. (Because discord has trained me to do *this* when I write instead of this.) Because I'm trying to listen to my draft via screen readers, but it keeps sounding like "asterisk-impossible-star-fuck me" (that's my favorite one honestly, it's supposed to read "Impossible. Fuck me.") which is really annoying (more often than amusing). ANYWAY… what this has revealed to me is that I use "Fuck" a lot, as well as "So good." Ahem. Take from that what you will.

BTW, I'm sure there's an easier way to do that than manually. Please don't tell me for at least a few days, or I might lose it. I am but a mortal being, with a tattered heart and patience worn thin. (Or something.)

I cannot express how much more enjoyable pokemon scarlet is on the switch 2. the game should never have released in the condition it was in on the switch, I think we all know this; the performance was embarrassing to say the least. honestly it was unacceptable for a full price game, even one that I put over a hundred hours into. the game was always a lot of fun, don't get me wrong, but the performance issues it had really were a problem. they detracted from the experience and ultimately ruined it in some places. the blueberry academy part of the dlc was unplayable to me because it ran so badly, it almost gave me motion sickness.

but now? now this is a full price game. the graphics still aren't great, the open world is still a muddy, poorly-textured mess that frankly looks pretty ugly most of the time. but the character models look fantastic at this higher resolution, the pokemon themselves look better than ever, all the aliasing and jagged edges are smoothed out, and the game runs phenomenally now. like I just cannot get over running around on my koraidon and the game never once drops a frame. that 60 fps is smoooooooth and it feels so nice. I feel like I shouldn't be blown away by this, but I am, and I'm enjoying re-experiencing it so much.

Spring Treasure Hunt: Flowers

Been having lots of fun with @geopsych's spring treasure hunt 😄So I thought I'd share some of the things I've found.

Now, I may have cheated a little with this one as it's from my 'garden' and so right outside, but I present: Nemesia Blue Cloud

Oh I had such a hard time picking what I wanted for this one. So have a bunch 😅

1 is a magnolia tree in a churchyard I walk through to get to town; 2 is an apple blossom from my mum's house; 3 is a cherry and some kind of apple (I think? Forgot to look at their plaques) from the University of Copenhagen Botanical Garden.

I also want to tell you about the hawthorns that are everywhere in Denmark. There's a bunch near where I'm staying and they're used to separate the fields. They're so voluminous, plentiful and low to the ground and just coated with white flowers, that mixed with the morning mist they look like someone pulled down a cloud and spread it over the field edge

Ahn Soojin was born on November 7, 1998 to a chef, Ahn Jungmo, and a nurse, Kim Soeun in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She is the oldest of five daughters. In 2008, her mother and two youngest sisters were murdered by an unknown assailant that broke into their home in Gyeonggi-do while Soojin and her other two sisters helped her father close up at his restaurant. She then moved to Seoul with her remaining family; her father, and her sisters, Minkyung and Solbin.

Soojin was scouted five times by Delphi Entertainment online from her rising popularity as an ‘ulzzang’ but didn’t go to auditions until 2016 when they contacted her father. In 2016, she was a contestant on Unpretty Rapstar 3 and was a semifinalist.

In 2017, she was announced as a trainee in Delphi Entertainment’s pre-debut girl group project; GIRLISH, with nine other girls. She was well received by the public and was the second member to be revealed for GIRL TALK. She debuted in 2018 in the girl group GIRL TALK as their leader, main rapper, and visual.

To cap off this pride month, a few of my queer headcanons for Carmen Sandiego (2019) characters!

I headcanon Player as a trans boy and Carmen as a trans woman! I also definitely think Carmen's sapphic but I don't have a more specific identity in mind for her.

Julia is a lesbian ofc. Her shirt is inspired by this retro lesbian shirt! If I had seen it before inking I would have made it an actual shirt with a collar and all but alas I saw it too late.

And I headcanon Devineaux as a trans man. His jacket was heavily based on this vintage jacket, obviously with the colors reworked. That's his new lucky coat probably.

this is gonna open a can of worms, but i'd like to take a vulnerable moment, expose some of my ignorance, and hear from anyone who's been thinking about this for longer than i have.

i support not ostracizing remorseful tr*mp voters (as in, not shame dumping someone who realizes they really fucked up) as much as the next girlie. to me, restorative justice (as opposed to punitive justice) isn't just an evidence-based practice but an ethical and religious practice, too.

that being said, i recently watched Rebecca Watson's video No, I Will Not Welcome Ex-MAGA to the Resistance to hear a different take on the topic. she argues that no, remorseful tr*mp voters don't get to be welcomed with hugs onto Bluesky because they haven't confronted their own bias and bigotry. as long as they don't have to answer for what they did or ever question why they chose cheaper groceries over trans lives, they're just going to fall for the next Make America Great Again scam. Watson uses post-WWII records to make her point, and as someone who also reads a lot about Nazis, the overlaps are way too familiar (I know, shocking /s).

thing is, i actually agree with her, and i'm not sure how to make it make sense. i do think that people have to start somewhere, and we've all seen how ostracization can push people to further extremism. i also don't want to ignore the legitimate harm that many voters chose not to prevent. so i'm gonna sit with this cognitive dissonance for a while. if there are any cult de-programmers out there or anyone who's thought about this longer than i have, i'd like to hear your take.
