Story:

Novice and Gray's life was as happy as could be. They were two lovebirds, prancing around Clan borders with seemingly no care. The Clan cats were friendly and mostly left them alone, so why should they meddle in their business? 

That was, as many stories go, until one day. A Shadowclan patrol attacked the two. Novice fought them off bravely, but not after they left Gray with major injuries. Gray was out cold, and Novice knew that the Clans could no longer be trusted. He took his mate back to their own little corner of the forest. He didn't know what to do, he didn't know what herbs did what!

He improvised, covering the injuries with leaves, as a sort-of cobweb binding. One night, while he was resting with Gray, a cat found their way to him. A Shadowclan cat named Darksun. Darksun had a scarring wound across his chest, which Novice recognised as being caused by him. Darksun said he was impressed with his violence during the fight, and offered him a deal. 

He'd deliver cobwebs to Gray and Novice, if Novice helped him, for lack of better words, dispatch a cat. He gave a description, "brown with black stripes, white dash on forehead, blue eyes, and scars on his paws. Named Umberleaf. Has a habit of being alone at night." 

Novice hesitated, but decided to go for it. He used a fake name, Kick, as he was uncomfortable giving his real one, and Gray was asleep just out of earshot.

He snuck onto Shadowclan territory, and lo and behold, Umberleaf was there. Without thinking, Novice leapt towards Umberleaf, holding his head down on a rock, and slamming his paw down on the brown tabby's neck. It was a quiet way to kill, and Umberleaf died instantly. He walked away, not sure what to do with the body, and waited for Darksun's return.

The mysterious tom returned the next day with cobwebs, which Novice used to bind up Gray's wounds. He learned quickly that word spread fast in the Clans, and soon he was approached by a Thunderclan warrior, Caveeyes, while hunting.

"Mimicfur, black with creepy white markings on her face, can't miss 'em. Usually alone around... I'd say sunrise?"

"How many cobwebs?"

"Ohhh, if you get rid of that freak I'll raid the medicine den for all I can find. Thanks for the... help, Blackthroat."

And so, next sunrise, Mimicfur's neck was broken, and he was paid a bounty of cobwebs.

Gray was starting to recover, but still needed one more haul of cobwebs. Luckily, a very lucky small white she-cat approached him next. Her surprisingly haunting voice had a simple request.

"Rainback. Blue pelt. Gone. Now."

"How many cobwebs?"

"Two full bundles. Kill him."

He tracked down the lanky blue-furred tom, who was hunting by the river. He hopped up in a tree, as there were no rocks or other elevated surfaced nearby, and pounced. Rainback's spine snapped like a twig.

"Thank you, Treepelt. Cobwebs. As promised."

And so, with no more requests to worry about, he rested easy after replacing Gray's cobwebs. His mate would heal, and life would go back to normal...

Or so he thought.

“Murderer! You’re a murderer, Novice!”

Like, I don’t want to be super dramatic and say “you should be” but like I said to gayymccree, you’ve followed me long enough to know what makes me emotional about HTTYD. This thing I’m talking about is probably top three if not the top moment that makes me emotional about HTTYD 3 currently. So like, make of that what you will.

the only active sessions I’m seeing is the one i’m currently on. I think changing my password kicked them out (there were some weird foreign ones before I changed it) didn’t even think about checking my queue, there’s close to 200 in there! changed my queue settings to only once per day (it was at 50 which was not what I had set up before) and am slowly working through deleting them. fingers crossed that’ll be the end of it 🤞🏻

aw, thanks. i think i’ll be fine, i’ve just made a lot of mistakes that are coming around to bite me in the ass and sometimes i can’t stop thinking about them.

fun fact: i’ve been on FR for almost 4 years. in that time, i’ve been to Wind, Light, Fire, Ice, and now Shadow. I’m caught between the lore aspect and the actual gameplay aspect of the game; i really want to check out all the flights, and i really really want to find a flight where I personally fit, but i’m a sucker for ice eyes and lore. it’s hard to reconcile being in Ice or Shadow for lore reasons when Fire was so so fun. I wish ice forums were more active.
