it's rare seeing her without her kodan-style helm, but under that is a long, well cared for white mane that reaches to the bottom of her back. she takes good care of it, rarely cuts it or wears it up, she will sometimes put it in a very loose thick braid..

🍇: What sort of friend are they? Where are they in the group dynamic?

Roi's a bit rusty at friends right now! She's had plenty she's gotten along with, don't get me wrong, and she's handling being the new Pact Commander with a surprising level of grace, but this was hot on the heels of her being trapped alone in the fractals of the mists trying to endlessly save her dead girlfriend for upwards of 40 years. She hasn't exactly...had any normal interactions beyond trying to change fate on repeat. But hey, she's working on it and tries to speak up where she can tell there's room to talk within the team. At the very least she's filling the shoes of what was a pretty stoic Commander in the first place, so by comparison she seems pretty easy going. She's definitely just the new friend still, the one everyone's trying to get to know and feel out so they can find a good dynamic.

Kai is the tough love parent, she's a cantankerous, grumpy old lady. But she's also become pretty damn observant and tries to do right by her team. She won't give you a hug and a shoulder to cry on when you're upset, but she'll sit down with you one on one to just talk it out a bit. She isn't throwing drinks back at parties, but she's keeping an eye on everyone to make sure no one pulls something they'll regret. She's a solid, stable support beam among her friends.

🍉: Does your OC have a particular piece of jewellery that they always wear or refuse to part with?

Roi wears several earrings, always has. Have a few gotten torn out in battle? Sure! But she likes the look and can be a bit stubborn. As I'm sure you can tell, she likes to have control over things in her life.

Kai doesn't wear any jewelry. Gets in the way during battle, and when she was on the run she didn't want to keep anything that would make her easily identifiable in a crowd. Her coat pattern already does that for her plenty, being a golden tiger.

🍪: What is something that's sentimental to you OC?

Roi kept Suko's harp after she died...kept it on her through her years in the fractals, and still does now. She's pretty tone deaf herself, but just plucking a string occasionally...to keep Suko close... it's fortunate that one day she'll be able to reunite the two uvu

Kai doesn't have anything from her old warband life, doesn't want anything. No connection to those years. But she keeps something new now...a petal from caithe, from before she became branded by Aurene. A tiny mark of Caithe's old self. And a crystal flower that fell off her in her new form too. Just...little mementos of the woman she loves, and how she's changed and grown.

🍻: What's your OC's favourite comfort ritual? How do they calm themselves down after a rough day?

Roi has two options, depending on the kind of rough it was. If she's having trouble grounding herself, her mind pulling apart and drifting back to the mists, she goes to be around as many of the team as she can find in one place. Hear some voices that aren't her own echoing in her head, hold herself together and in the world of tyria so she doesn't accidentally fall back through a rift in her own mind. If she's just worn down though and still mentally in one piece? She takes some time alone with Suko's harp. Being as close to her old love as she can, pulling what off-key music she can from the strings. It's not like Suko plays it, but it's something...

Kai will curl up at home with Caithe! For so much of her life, she hasn't had a home, hasn't had someone to really trust and love. Having that reminder when she needs it is so gently comforting and soft. She's not alone and she's not on the run. She can just live a peaceful life if she ever chooses to. This is waiting for her at home any time.

Trico, the majestic beast, is captivating. Despite playing as such a small character, I was always concerned and tried to care for him in some way. The experience was overwhelming and thrilling at the same time. It brought me to tears… at times, I pressed the buttons on my controller in desperation, because that was all I could do.

As an instant fan, I searched for themed items to buy but couldn’t find much, so I decided to express my love through drawing instead…

Inside the office of Fumito Ueda

This is a sequel of sorts to a post of mine from last year where I spotted a number of telling items on Fumito Ueda's office shelves, while more closely inspecting a picture from the Material Book included with the Japanese First Limited Edition of Hitokui no Ōwashi Trico. I'm calling this harmless voyeurism, coming as it does from someone who is exceedingly interested in this author and his work and appreciates the difficulty of such self-imposed challenges.

This new post will be looking more carefully at a this page size picture from The World of Fumito Ueda, a book Kadokawa released earlier this year, from which some detail can be extracted. The photo is stylized with a checkered transparency which makes this exercise substantially more difficult. Should you recognize any item I failed to identify, I ask that you use the comment box so I may improve this entry.

This is a rather pristine-looking 1976 Nintendo Kôsenjû Duck Hunt, a sophisticated light gun toy from Yokoi's R&D department consisting of a battery-powered projector and a plastic rifle whose objective was for the player to shoot at the duck whenever it appeared on the wall.

To the left is Nintendo's Custom Gunman toy, also designed by Gunpei Yokoi in 1976, consisting of a plastic cowboy figure with a receptor in its chest at which the player needed to aim with precision in order to score.

I remember reading about these in Gorges' L'Histoire de Nintendo. Both may have been toys that Ueda had as a child, but this is mere speculation from my end.

Two PSP games stored on this shelf: Metal Gear Acid (2004) and Lemmings (2006), a remake of a game which was highly influential to him, as he as indicated on multiple occasions. In the previous post I wrote, I spotted a big box copy of the original game.

An unexpected find here: a DVD entitled The Animal Motion Show, a visual library meant as reference for artists containing thousands of video clips animals in motion, no doubt very useful in key framing Toriko's unique animations.

A pair of books stand out to me and confirm many of my long-held suspicions on Ueda's influences: Hyperion's From Myst to Riven hardcover from 1997; and the 1974 Dover Publications' Doré Bible Illustrations.

The US and European versions of Shadow of the Colossus sitting beside Saints Seinaru Mamono, the Japanese edition of the Sony Cambridge Studio 2004 game, Primal.

More books, including the 2014 volume The Birth of Rockin' Jelly Beans. If you are not familiar with this reference, he is a Japanese lowbrow erotica artist who wears a mask in public appearances and whose identity remains unknown to this day.

Tucked in a lower shelf are the Gameboy Color edition of Prince of Persia, the Japanese version of Abe's Exodus (ABE '99) for the Playstation and the Wonderswan version of Toshio Iwai's Tenori-On.

Last but not least, here is the the Limited Run Games Limited 20th Anniversary Edition of Another World (either the PS4 or the PSVita edition, it's impossible to tell).

They love affection, very friendly cuddly person with friends and constantly initiating PDA with their girlfriend @ascalonianpicnic 's Camilla.

Their favorite one is when they get picked up be Camilla for a kiss, getting to just wrap their arms around and hang off of her while kissing her! It's a two for one deal of good physical affections~

They usually have a good handle on the parks in whatever area they're living in. It's always a beautiful place to sort through thoughts if they need to, and there's always the option to sit on a nice bench or take a walk. Whatever the mood requires can be found at a nice local park.

🍻: What's your OC's favourite comfort ritual? How do they calm themselves down after a rough day?

A loooong soak in a bubble bath with some good food. They're the kind of person who would treat themself to a full spa day at any stressor if that was always a convenient option, but opting for a mini option at home with snacks they enjoy, maybe a nice cuddle on the couch by a fire afterward too~ And Camilla being there to listen if they need to let off steam verbally on any of the bullshit uvu always have someone around to tell you you're so strong and brave for being put in situations

THE LAST GUARDIAN FAN SPECIES!?!?

This is ENTIRELY an AU creature! I can do what I want!

So, this species is called Talis. Talis mimic the sky and whether they are born under, in specific Astronomical or extreme environmental conditions/events, they can gain extreme powers. Extra note, females are generally a bit larger than males. Talis and Trico are natural enemies, the non corrupt Guardians(Trico) used to defend against Talis. However, this special grudge still lasts. I’m fact, this girl here was born under an extreme thunderstorm, being granted lighting weather abilities. However, when Talis grow notorious, they gain names from humans. This is how Inazuma gained hers.

Inazuma was the one whom struck down Trico before the beginning of the game. Her tail barb was what anchored the electricity to hit Trico, which is the symbolism Trico holds with his own ability with The Boy and the mirror.

The “eyes” of Talis are what lead to the creation of the Talismans(The symbol Trico so greatly fears). The same way Trico is triggered by Talismans, Talis are triggered by the sight of the turquoise of a Trico’s energy.

At @moominhands behest here is my game list thing! <3 Reasoning under the cut:

Favorite game of all time: If i absolutley have to pick one it'd have to be Shadow of the Colossus, tho runners up are definitely ICO, FNV, Okami, Windwaker and Twilight Princess. it's hard to choose just the one honestly there's so many more too, but this game was so influential and i sunk so many hours into just exploring the world and taking in every tiny detail, it and ICO really changed my perspective on games in general.

Favorite Series: Dragon Age, it's camp and has a lot of issues, but it gave me extreme brain rot and i love it a lot.

Best Soundtrack: ICO, this game has barely any music! But when it does, it really goes all out, the resting theme and the erie music before the final boss are my favorites.

Favorite Protagonist: Hawke, from Dragon age 2, this is surprising to absolutely no one.

Favorite Villain: Dormin from SOTC, I love this thing, is it even really a villan? who knows but it's very cool and i love the voice acting for it! runners up are the shadow creatures from ICO for similar reasons and The Master from Fallout 1.

Best Story: Night in the Woods. This was really hard to pick tbh i could've put a few in this spot but this is one of my favorite story focused walking sims and i love to revisit it.

Have not played but want to: Disco Elysium, I've attempted to play this game on console very briefly once but couldn't get used to the controls. Now that i have a PC I'm planning to play it but i need to be in the right headspace for big CRPGs as i find them hard to get into so, i just need to wait till the time is right to play it. I also want to play Hades.

You Love, Everyone Hates: The Last Guardian, everyone hated this game SO MUCH, especially at launch.. Heaps of streaming people who had only ever played Shadow all expected it to be SOTC again but when it turned out to be much closer to ICO with only some elements of Shadow people just hated it so much for what it wasn't. This game much like ICO can be frustrating at times but it's really good and had a lot of love put into it, the A I of the Creature Trico is especially cool as it learns depending on how you interact with it and becomes more responsive and easy to direct. It's certainly not a game for everyone but it didn't deserve the amount of disdain it received on release.

You Hate, Everyone Loves: (please don't kill me for these I don't actually hate them they're just not for me) Kingdom hearts, I tried multiple times to play these games and i just couldn't get into them, they're just not for me i think, i don't really find the gameplay or story elements particularly engaging. Sad! a lot of my friends really love these and seem to get a lot out of them. I never had the chance to play them as a kid though so i feel like i may have had different opinions if i'd started playing them earlier. Last of us 2, The weird opinion split when it released between bigots who hated it cause women and queer people were in it and then the other people saying it was the most profound piece of media ever was really frustrating because it kind of shut down a lot of good faith criticism. I think the main problems i have is that it came out in a really depressing time where something with such a bleak and unsatisfying ending came across as a bit gauche even though the devs couldn't have anticipated it. And that there's a bunch of good elements about it that just didn't really stick the landing for me, or were handled poorly imo. Personally the overall message it's going for via it's gameplay and story had already been done, and done better over 10 years prior (see Shadow of the Colossus; Ico was a stated main inspiration for the first last of us and i'm pretty certain Shadow was for part 2 considering the parallels), and it would've been quite ground breaking back then but now it's not so much. Again this is personal opinion of how it's just not really for me.

Best Art Style: Okami! Kind of self explanatory, even on ps2 this game's graphics still hold up because of that art style, and i love how it was incorporated into the gameplay.

Favorite Ending: Zelda: Twilight Princess, love this game, the climactic boss rush and the story conclusion is so good, it's such a long game and the characters go through so much it all really wraps up nicely even with it's melancholic tone. This was the first Zelda game i fully finished so the ending had more of an impact on me too because of that.

Favorite Boss Fight: Crimson Helm, from Okami, this guy is super fun to fight, cool design, great arena, always a good one to revisit.

Childhood Game(s): my first ever game was Duke Nukem DOS on the floppy disk on my dads old computer, it's a side scroller that's sound effects are drilled into my brain. Frogger i got later on the same computer once dad upgraded his for work, it was the first game i ever finished. and Nintendogs i got much later again with the old clunky silver DS, i played this game way too much.

Relaxing Game(s): Lil Gator Game, it's so fun and cruisey to play, really charming and great controls. Flock, I only played this recently but it's so fun, very pretty, you just fly about and spot new creatures to list in your encyclopedia! A Short Hike, really great chill vibes, i love revisiting this one every now and then. Proteus is also a good one.

Stressful Game: Mass Effect 2, I love these games but they're so stressful trying to avoid people dying from random dumb choices you make hours prior omg! 2 is especially bad for it off memory, i remember writing up a strategy sheet for that last big level so i could avoid people dying.

Game you always come back to: Drakan The Ancients Gates, I love this one, it's a bit janky but it's got a really weird and interesting world, with a weird plot and bizzare character design.

Guilty Pleasure: The Dog Island, this game is so silly but i played so much of it as a kid it was kind of ridiculous, so i really enjoy revisiting it every now and then, it's also kind of bizarre in terms of how the story is written.

Tons of Hours Played: Baldur's Gate 3, I've only played it through twice but it's stacked up a bunch of hours, really good tho! others that I've spent way too much time with is Dragon age Inquisition, Animal crossing NH and NL, and of course SOTC but i dont actually have the hour count for that one, i can only assume.
