15. What’s the most obvious difference between their behavior at home, at work, at school, with friends, and when they’re alone?

While she's softened quite a bit from when she first became Commander, Kai is still stern and stoic and harsh by comparison to the rest of her guild in public. She knows she has a reputation to uphold, and wavering too much leaves room for weakness or doubt in her choices.

But behind closed doors when it's just the team she's gentle. More willing to give leniency in mistakes, likely to admit her faults and apologize and give constructive criticism.

Further, when is just her and Caithe at home? She's so soft now, so gentle and content and able to truly relax~

42. If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be?

"The Legions don't need you, and you deserve better" where she spends an hour going into the intricacies of how the current war-motivated way of life the charr legions uphold leads to unhealthy patriotism that hurts more than helps everyone involved. She's very mean about it, and it's obvious she has a chip on her shoulder from personal experience.

52. Do they act on their immediate emotions, or do they wait for the facts before acting?

It depends! Historically she's acted on instinct, but this has lead to some of the biggest regrets in her life and she's working very hard on changing her habits. She'll still act on her emotions if a situation pages her to it before she can calm down, but whenever possible she does her best to take a moment and really evaluate the options with her team first.

Krampus, Bane of the Naughty

Age & Appearance:

Human Form: Dated clothing, somewhat resembling that of Saint Nick and their other peers. Krampus' human form contains a particularly pointy-seeming nose and pronounced, long eyebrows.

Yokai Form: Although Krampus presents itself in many variations, most of these share some common physical characteristics. He is hairy, usually brown or black, and has the cloven hooves and horns of a goat. He bears fangs, and his long, pointed tongue lolls out.

Krampus carries chains, thought to symbolize the binding of the Devil by the Christian Church. He thrashes the chains for dramatic effect. The chains are sometimes accompanied with bells of various sizes. Of more pagan origins are the Ruten, bundles of birch branches that Krampus carries and with which he occasionally swats children. The Ruten may have had significance in pre-Christian pagan initiation rites. Sometimes Krampus appears with a sack or a basket strapped to his back; this is to cart off evil children for later drowning, eating, or transport to the Demon World.

Adventure

Perhaps Krampus is best used in a sort of Christmas-themed investigation set of sessions, particularly satisfying if hosted during Christmas in real life. During the season, children are going missing from whichever local town or village your players currently find themselves in, and those that already know about how Krampus works are likely to quickly suspect him. Nevertheless, the challenge is not in the surprise of who is performing the kidnappings, but in how will the party be able to stop— or at the very least— fend off the powerful and ancient Christmas entity.

Krampus does not actively search to engage in combat. Quite the opposite, actually: he avoids it. His goal is to capture all the town's naughty children, only engaging those that might stand in the way of his purpose. And by engaging, I mean just brushing them aside, using techniques such as 'Lethal Getaway' to plow right through them, 'Punishment' to disable them, and 'Krampus' Little Helpers' to obstruct them in all sorts of ways, so that he may continue on with his mission and his purpose. Most of the time, however, Krampus can traverse freely using his 'Lost Realm' Technique (Alternate Space), giving the PCs and others looking to stop him a short window to engage him: only when coming in and out of said space. Speaking of this "Lost Realm", in between the kidnapping of children, those children which Krampus will not be dealing with immediately are often left to roam this dimension, cold and afraid, allowing Krampus to more easily kidnap more children without having to deal with the encumbrance issues of carrying the rest of them around.

Should Krampus sustain damage, he attempts to heal himself first and foremost using the 'Carnivorous Recovery' Demon Trait, by consuming some of the misbehaved children he manages to get his hands on. Should that not be enough to heal his wounds, he utilizes 'Eternal' (Self-Regeneration), but only in an emergency, because most of his energy is reserved for traversal through the "Lost Realm". Being a special entity, Krampus benefits from 2 other Yokai Physical Traits, Thick Fur and Frightening Appearance, the latter which he most definitely takes advantage of when performing 'Punishment', making the Fear effect it contains difficult to overcome.

When Krampus detects a particularly powerful-seeming attack or Technique, he makes sure to activate 'Instant Karma', reflecting all damage sustained back at the aggressor.

Every time Krampus manages to get away, he's difficult to track down due to the 'Trackless' feat, which makes it unclear where his energy is being sensed from exactly, while also giving a -5 penalty to Deduce checks performed to track him physically.

Knowing Krampus' full toolset, especially how evasive he is thanks to the Lost Realm, you can see how the adventure eventually boils down to one thing: investigating which are the "naughty kids" in town, because their homes are the only places one can guarantee to encounter him. And although these kids are not saints, it's nearly guaranteed that Krampus' punishment does not match their crimes. It might be impossible to save them all, but saving a handful might be considered miracle enough.

🍇: What sort of friend are they? Where are they in the group dynamic?

Roi's a bit rusty at friends right now! She's had plenty she's gotten along with, don't get me wrong, and she's handling being the new Pact Commander with a surprising level of grace, but this was hot on the heels of her being trapped alone in the fractals of the mists trying to endlessly save her dead girlfriend for upwards of 40 years. She hasn't exactly...had any normal interactions beyond trying to change fate on repeat. But hey, she's working on it and tries to speak up where she can tell there's room to talk within the team. At the very least she's filling the shoes of what was a pretty stoic Commander in the first place, so by comparison she seems pretty easy going. She's definitely just the new friend still, the one everyone's trying to get to know and feel out so they can find a good dynamic.

Kai is the tough love parent, she's a cantankerous, grumpy old lady. But she's also become pretty damn observant and tries to do right by her team. She won't give you a hug and a shoulder to cry on when you're upset, but she'll sit down with you one on one to just talk it out a bit. She isn't throwing drinks back at parties, but she's keeping an eye on everyone to make sure no one pulls something they'll regret. She's a solid, stable support beam among her friends.

🍉: Does your OC have a particular piece of jewellery that they always wear or refuse to part with?

Roi wears several earrings, always has. Have a few gotten torn out in battle? Sure! But she likes the look and can be a bit stubborn. As I'm sure you can tell, she likes to have control over things in her life.

Kai doesn't wear any jewelry. Gets in the way during battle, and when she was on the run she didn't want to keep anything that would make her easily identifiable in a crowd. Her coat pattern already does that for her plenty, being a golden tiger.

🍪: What is something that's sentimental to you OC?

Roi kept Suko's harp after she died...kept it on her through her years in the fractals, and still does now. She's pretty tone deaf herself, but just plucking a string occasionally...to keep Suko close... it's fortunate that one day she'll be able to reunite the two uvu

Kai doesn't have anything from her old warband life, doesn't want anything. No connection to those years. But she keeps something new now...a petal from caithe, from before she became branded by Aurene. A tiny mark of Caithe's old self. And a crystal flower that fell off her in her new form too. Just...little mementos of the woman she loves, and how she's changed and grown.

🍻: What's your OC's favourite comfort ritual? How do they calm themselves down after a rough day?

Roi has two options, depending on the kind of rough it was. If she's having trouble grounding herself, her mind pulling apart and drifting back to the mists, she goes to be around as many of the team as she can find in one place. Hear some voices that aren't her own echoing in her head, hold herself together and in the world of tyria so she doesn't accidentally fall back through a rift in her own mind. If she's just worn down though and still mentally in one piece? She takes some time alone with Suko's harp. Being as close to her old love as she can, pulling what off-key music she can from the strings. It's not like Suko plays it, but it's something...

Kai will curl up at home with Caithe! For so much of her life, she hasn't had a home, hasn't had someone to really trust and love. Having that reminder when she needs it is so gently comforting and soft. She's not alone and she's not on the run. She can just live a peaceful life if she ever chooses to. This is waiting for her at home any time.
