so i love math as much as the next guy, but i think we can all agree that it is one of the hardest subjects to study for. 

so, without further ado, here are some tips on how to study math!

1. - ̗̀invest in a whiteboard! ̖́- the most helpful tool i used in AP calc was my giant whiteboard. this way you can go through practice problems quickly (and let’s be real- white boards are more fun than paper).

2. - ̗̀watch youtube videos on the topic you’re studying! ̖́- never underestimate the power of a good khan academy video. these will not only give you an explanation of the topic other than what your teacher gave you, they will also give you more practice problems to work on.

3. - ̗̀don’t just learn how to do each topic, learn the theorem! ̖́- if you learn WHY something is rather than HOW something is, it’ll make more sense to you and make working out the problem a little more clear. there are youtube videos explaining this!!

4. - ̗̀create a unit “cheat sheet”! ̖́- i did this throughout high school and it saved my life. at the end of each unit, or as you go along, create a cheat sheet by listing each topic within the unit, the formulas needed for the topics, how to do each problem, the theorem, etc.

5. - ̗̀review old quizzes! ̖́- the mistakes you make on your quizzes you are likely to make on the test. review the quizzes, rework the problems, and fix your mistakes! quizzes also give a good preview of what’ll be on the test.

6. - ̗̀find your notes from old classes! ̖́- are you in calculus, but you’re having trouble remembering the unit circle from trigonometry? go to your old notes. trust me.

7. - ̗̀take your time when practicing problems! ̖́- if you go quickly, you’re more likely to make silly mistakes. take your time, even if you don’t have a lot of it, so you can focus on how to do each problem rather than the small mistakes you make.

8. - ̗̀make a quizlet for your formulas! ̖́- studying for math the night before the test would be a lot easier if you already had the formulas memorized, right? make the quizlet in advance and flip through it while you’re in the car, in line, etc.

9. - ̗̀quality over quanitity! ̖́- while doing practice problems, don’t just do a bunch of basic questions. that’s a huge waste of time. do a couple at each difficulty, so you aren’t wasting your time on doing a bunch of questions you know you can do.

10. - ̗̀make a study plan! ̖́- using the cheat sheet i mentioned in number 4 or just a list of topics on the exam you are studying for, create a study plan that covers a couple of topics each day. this way you can thoroughly delve in to each one without overworking yourself the night before the test.

your alarm was extra loud this morning. but, you noticed that you had gotten a text from taeyong, at 5:09 am this morning.

taeyong: hi hi, wanna go out again tonight? it doesn’t have to be all night, being that it’s tuesday, i can take you back home in time :))

you: yeah, definitely. pick me up at about 6-ish?

taeyong: perfect, we can go out to eat tonight too, maybe go back to my place?

you: yeah! see you at school.

“already on your phone, huh, miss (y/n). what a shame.” johnny says, shaking his head.

“shut up, suh. i have plans again tonight. can you guys hold up by yourselves until like 9 or later maybe?”

“sure, being that there’s still gonna be three adults around. but, you’re their favorite, so it might be hard.” he said, shrugging.

“shut up. they’ll be fine.” you said, getting up to get ready.

as you were walking out, yuta stopped you, letting johnny and jaehyun go outside.

“so, you’re going out with taeyong again tonight?” he asked.

“yeah, he said he was gonna take me to dinner.” you said, getting excited.

“oh, sounds fun, don’t have too much fun, okay?” he cocked his eyebrow at you.

“yes, sir.” you said, saluting him as a joke.

he laughs, “let’s get going, they’ve been waiting long enough.” he spoke, leading you out.

as per usual, when arriving at school, you saw taeyong, this time with firey red hair. it looked fucking godly on him, and you never wanted him to change it. damn it. this man truly was the love of your life. but, that’s a dumb thought. you’re in high school. it’s not like you’re gonna go get married after high school, but, boy, did you want to. especially to lee taeyong.

“hi, (y/n)! you excited for tonight?” taeyong nearly yelled at you.

“why wouldn’t i be excited? who do you think i am?” you sassily replied.

“why do i even bother asking? anyways, how are you?” he asks.

“i’m doing amazing. how are you?”

“i’m doing well. i’m so excited for tonight.” he smirks at you.

“i’m glad. why don’t we walk to class together?” you ask.

“ladies first.” he gestures in front of him. you led the way inside, to your trigonometry class.

fuck trigonometry. triangles can suck your ass for all you care. the only thing that you enjoyed about this class was getting to know taeyong more. today was a half day, so you only had three classes and lunch for the day, and then you could go home. it would give you time to hang out with the youngins more, being that you never really do. you could do some things with them that they might enjoy, and could still go out with taeyong later.

“wait, what’s the formula again?” taeyong asked.

“you’re joking, right?” you cocked your eyebrow at him.

“no, i’m not.”

you wanted to laugh, but you didn’t want to be mean.

“a squared + b squared = c squared. so what you’re gonna do is take the a side and b side and square them and-”

“i’m kidding. i know how to do it. i’ve been in this class for a semester. i just like seeing you talk smartly about things. i love when you do it.” he professed.

this caused you to blush. you just got complimented by your crush. what the fuck.

“wow, didn’t know it would have that much affect you that much.” he said, staring at your cheeks.

you quickly covered your face, not wanting to be seen by him anymore. he had way too much effect on you for comfort.

“don’t cover up that beautiful face of yours, princess” taeyong said, taking your hands off of your face. fuck. in public, taeyong? really?

but, you had forgotten that yuta was also in that class. along with jaehyun. they were seat partners in the class that sat right behind you. they had probably heard the entire conversation. you didn’t want to face them, but they were in your other two classes for the day and at next to you in both. fuck.

the bell rang, and you were so nervous to face the other two, so you walked with taeyong to your next class.

you saw johnny, yuta, and jaehyun all sitting at your table already. it was kinda nice to have them in your math class. they were always super helpful in that class. but, today, you were not having it.

“so, miss (y/n), he is even calling you ‘princess’ in public? fucking weirdo. why do you like him again?” jaehyun asks you.

“shut up. it’s a joke. he doesn’t mean it. don’t call him that.” you said, rolling your eyes.

“jaehyun. don’t.” yuta says.

“thank you, bud.” you said, sitting down.

the bell rang shortly after.

when you walked out of your classroom, you saw taeyong standing there. you walked up to him instead of walking with the other boys to your next class.

“wanna ditch?” he whispers to you.

“hold on- what? like, actually?” you question him.

“yeah, totally. then we can just leave to lunch and go home. you down?”

this was weird coming from him. he has really good grades in his classes, so why in the world would he wanna ditch? but, you agreed anyways.

“sweet, let’s go, quick.” he said, grabbing your hand and leading you to the front doors.

you guys had ended up walking to a local park, since it was such a nice day. there was no one there, which was nice. the other boys were blowing up your phone, but you didn’t really care at the moment.

“hey, is it cool if one of my friends joins us? he isn’t too much to handle, i promise.” he spoke.

“yeah, definitely. what’s his name?” you asked.

“his name is mark. everyone thinks that we’re brothers, since we have the same last name, but we’re not. sound familiar?”

“oh, then, yeah, definitely. he seems cool.” you said, looking at the clouds.

“great, there he is now.” he pointed in front of you guys and waved at ‘mark’.

when he got closer, you could see how alluring he was. he had golden blonde hair, which obviously wasn’t his natural color, but it looked good on him. he had golden skin, and a shy voice.

“this is the famous (y/n)? the one you’re always talking ab-” mark got cut off by taeyong.

“mark, (y/n), (y/n), mark.” taeyong introduced you two.

“nice to meet you, mark.” you said, smiling at him.

“you too.” he smiled back, shyly.

this was gonna be fun.

you three ended up going to mcdonald’s for lunch, and then split after. you got mark’s number in advance, though, so you could talk later. you had to make it back to school, so that you could get a ride home, and have more time to get ready for later. you nearly ran when you saw yuta’s car parked in the parking lot still. relief was all you felt. but, again, facing them would be hard.

“hello, miss (y/n), how was ditching class?” jaehyun smugly asked you.

“it was great. i made a new friend. can we go home now?” you asked, looking directly at yuta.

“yep, the youngins are getting impatient.” yuta said, checking his phone.

“let’s get going then, folks!” johnny said.

you had let johnny, jaehyun, and yuta go out for a bit until you left, so you could hang out with the youngins by yourself. you enjoy hanging out with them, but you never really have time to do so, being that you always have to study.

“let’s watch a movie, and then i have to get ready. then, the other three should be back. sound good?” you asked all six of them. they all nodded, and you put on the classic “train to busan”.

the movie went by so fast, and it was now 5:55. the other three had come back, and you got ready for your date. you didn’t overthink anything this time, though. you just threw on a dress and put your hair up. you two were now practically comfortable with each other, so what did it matter? you heard a ring of the doorbell, and rushed downstairs.

“ready?” taeyong says, after you answer the door.

“duh. bye everyone!” you waved at everyone, them waving back.

in the car, you had found out that taeyong had made fake i.d’s for the both of you. it made it so that you were both to appear 21. sure, it was illegal, but to get into the club he wanted to go into, you needed to be 21. this is the best bar in town. so, of course he was gonna take you.

“alright, y’all are good, head on in.” the bouncer said.

“yes!!” you guys celebrated in unison when walking in.

you guys sat down at the bar, and ordered some shots. you guys didn’t want to get completely wasted, being that it is your first time drinking. so, you only bought about three shots each. there was a hockey game on, which you didn’t really care about, but it kept you occupied.

“did i mention how good you look? red suits you.” taeyong eyed you, biting his lip.

“thank you, mr. button up and dress pants.” you punched his arm.

“don’t be creepy, biting your lip n’ shit.” you said to him.

“sorry, i can’t help it when you look this good.” he blushed.

“that’s STILL creepy.” you punched his arm, yet again.

“it’s my drunk talking.”

“you had one and a half shots.” you rolled your eyes at him.

“whatever, let’s go back to my place, it’s already 7.” he said, checking his phone clock.

“whatever you say, sir.” you said, saluting him.

his house was so small, but, it was so nice. it had the most beautiful wooden floors, white walls, and smooth ceilings. he was the only one living there, you assumed, being that it was so small. his couch and tv were so big, though. everything about his house was so nice.

“i made brownies. would you like one?” taeyong asked, holding a brownie out to you.

“yeah, sure? why not?” you said, taking one from his hand.

you quickly took a bite out of it, and noticed how delicious it was. it had chocolate chips in it, and was super gooey. perfect. 

your shoes were already off, and you were so comfortable at his house, you felt like you  could fall asleep right there.

“do you want me to text them for you, saying you aren’t gonna make it home?” taeyong whispered to you, noticing you were almost asleep.

“please do. thank you so much.” you said.

“no problem.” he said, grabbing your phone and unlocking it with your fingerprint. genius.

“it’s done. sleep well, princess.” he said, kissing your forehead.

that’s when you blacked out completely.

How to Write About Middle School/High Schools

Middle school and high school are key times within a child’s life.

Gone are the days where they only had one teacher to tell them everything; now they have to change classes and have harder content that they have to study.

There’s more friend drama now that they’re all developing their own identities and their sense of who’s a good person and who’s not, and along with that comes astronomical stress compared to their elementary school years.

There’s also puberty, which sucks, and the beginnings of serious extracurricular activities that require a lot of time and dedication.

Middle school = Grades 6-8 (Kids 11 to 13)

High school = Grades 9-12 (Kids 14 to 18)

Since many people have no idea how to write about schools, whether they be homeschooled or have graduated a while ago, here’s a few tips on how to write middle school and high school.

Just a note that I’m going to be describing public schools and not private schools, Also, schools are going to be different across the country; I’m a New Yorker, and my school knowledge and experience can be way different than those of someone who went to school in the south or in the midwest.

**IMPORTANT NOTICE!**

“High school” and “middle school” are not capitalized! Only capitalize it when you’re saying the name of the school. (Example: Eldridge Middle School)

1. Know What Grades Take Which Courses (AKA Know All the Technical Stuff)

Nothing demonstrates complete lack of knowledge about the school system than not knowing the basic technical side of it, such as which grades take which classes. Aside from various exceptions, an eighth grader isn’t going to be taking Physics and a twelfth grader isn’t going to be taking Biology.

This year is the most fun year of high school; although some colleges do still look at the grades, many students are already committed to college and get a case of “Senioritis” which is when they let their grades slip and take it easy because they don’t have to worry about impressing colleges.

2. Know the Types of Classes

Depending on their skill level in the area, kids can take a variety of different versions of these core classes. There’s reagents classes, honors classes, and advanced placement (AP) classes.

At least in New York, reagents classes take state-made reagents at the end of the year as a final exam.

Honors classes are basically advanced versions of reagents classes. They teach at a faster pace and go more in-depth into the topics. They, too, take reagents at the end of the year.

AP classes are the hardest of them all. They’re college-level classes and make students eligible to take the AP test. Depending on what score they get on the AP (1-5), they can skip the 101 classes in college.

(Example: If a girl gets a 4 on the Global History AP, she can skip Global History 101 in college)

Junior year is also the year students take the SAT and ACT, huge tests that are very important for college.

Other schools may have other kinds of classes like IB, but this whole list is JUST ACCORDING TO MY EXPERIENCES.

3. Just Know that School Is Not the Worst Place on Earth

Although there are certain times when school can be the absolute worst thing ever and there are a lot of flaws in the education system, it’s not all downsides!

School is a place where you learn new things, meet new friends, and get to hang out with people you wouldn’t hang out with otherwise.

There are extracurricular activities available for FREE that you can join, and aside from being academic, school sponsors a very nice social climate that is crucial for kids to develop skills in communication and interaction with others.

Of course, high school is also the place where people start getting into serious relationships, which you can research here.

20 Useful Free Apps For High School (+Junior High & College)(Part 1)

I have tried every single app listed here, for at least a short time. Some of which I use on a regular basis, while others I just tried because I wanted to have twenty different apps on this list, or because there are five choices that do the exact same thing so I only use my favorite. Anyways here we go towards the list of 20, and if any of you are interested in singular reviews on any of these apps, just ask, because I have nothing but time and would be happy to help. Also tell me what you want next. I mean it could be the part two (as one would be easy to make with the amount of apps there are, I've not even really touched the tip of the iceburg), or another certain type of post, whether it be studying tips, a website version of this, or a recommended list of classics to read.

Homework/Studying Apps:

1. Quizlet - A studying app/website with flashcards, games, quizzes, and tests. Useful for learning languages, vocab, and terms, but also has other features such as diagrams. It's one of the mobile studying apps of it's type, though it doesn't have all the features the actual website provide.

2. Cram.com Flashcards - Another studying app like Quizlet, though unlike the mobile version of quizlet it has more games than just match, and just different features and set up.

3. Kahoot - A quiz app focused on the younger audience, as it's played like a game more than studying. You have options between playing live games with a host, a challenge between multiple players, or a single player practice.

4. Khan Academy - A learning app that lets you learn anything it offers for free of charge, there are math courses that range from early math to AP Calculus to Linear Algebra, along with Science, Economics, Arts and Humanities, Test Prep, and more.

5. Photomath - A "camera calculator" that brags to be the smartest one on the market, you can take photos of your math equations or type them in and you will receive the answer and step-by-step instructions on how to get that answer.

6. Duolingo - Probably the best app for learning a language die there being so many choices including English, French, German, Italian, Romanian, Greek, Polish, Swahili, and more. You can learn as many of these languages as you want at once, and there are multiple choices for native languages, so you can learn French even if you're just say fluent in Spanish. There are also groups that you can join in-app.

Planner/Checklist Apps:

7. School Planner - There are multiple on the market, though the one being mentioned is by Andrea Dal Cin. It has tabs for a calendar, an agenda, a timetable, grades, subjects, teachers, attendance, and recordings. That and a complete overview for the day and week.

8. School - This exact application is by Flaring App, and it offers tabs for schedules, homework, handbook (It's actually formulas for math, physics, chemistry, and information about countries), time to end (which is a time table), books, people (sorted into teachers and friends contacts), trigonometry, and notes.

9. Egenda - Another planner/organization type app that has two main tabs, what's due and completed, and then customizable class tabs where you're assignments can be sorted by class.

10. Study Planner - As the name suggests this app is a planner and organization app. It includes side tabs for a dashboard, agenda, calendar, class schedule, study time, subjects, and teachers.

Communication Apps:

11. Remind - A school communication platform that allows you to talk to the class, a group, or an individual. Allows you to be in multiple class's and/or club's groups, it translates messages, and you are also able to share photos and flyers.

Learning/Courses Apps:

12. Coursera - An app filled with online courses in programming, math, music, languages, business, and more from some of the top universities. It seems to be the one with the most courses or at least out of the ones I've found. Ever course I've found so far has been free, though certification usually isn't.

13. Stepik - Another online course app, with free courses, though the amount of courses on this app are very limited with less than a dozen available mostly focusing on coding and English.

14. Edex - Another online course app, with courses offered by top universities, and like Coursera it mostly has free courses with paid certification. It has a good amount of high level STEM classes, business classes, law classes, and architect type classes. It also has high school courses such as introduction to algebra and introduction to geometry, which are both actually currently going on.

15. TubeStudy - Just another course app, although this one you learn through videos, most of which seem to be free. Videos cover a large variety of topics all the way from Chess to Geometry to Python to German.

Etc. Apps:

16. Libby - An app I recommend if you have a library card, as it links to your local libraries ebooks and audiobooks, letting you check them out and then leaving automatically when you time runs out.

17. All Formulas - An app that offers a list of math, Physics, and Chemistry formulas though the list is limited and certain formulas are missing such as the equation of a circle.

18. Math Formulas Pack - Another app that offers a list of math formulas, the set up is a little simpler than the appearance of all formulas, but unlike like it, it only has math formulas. It seems to have more math formulas than the other, though I haven't checked. Also like most realistic apps, it is missing formulas.

19. Career Guide - While not exactly a school app, it has it's relations definetely for those who are trying to see just how many jobs are out there. It's probably one of the best apps I've found out there when it comes to selection and information, though I've found, and had to use, websites that offer a lot more information. (Though I have to say certain aspects of the site are based around the careers in India, including the monetary aspect.)

20. Free books and audiobooks - An app that offers free books and audio books, most of the books that they offer are older but many great and well-known classics are there, including works by Jane Austin, Lewis Carroll, and Mark Twain.
