a/n: why did i almost forget how to write hcs

- boyfriend or bodyguard? well… yes

- he is a walking threat btw! a constant reminder to everyone that if they touch you, there will be consequences. walking down the street to wherever, holding your hand in his bigger one.

- he’s got this mean scowl on his face –bonus points if you’re a bubbly smiley person. people kind of look at you both like, how the hell did they get together? because you quite literally look like a sheep holding a wolf’s hand.

- knives is massive btw. like it literally does not matter how big or tall you are, he can and definitely will carry you. on his back, like a koala, bridal style, he can do it all. with ease too, not even breaking a sweat as you cling onto him.

- outside the ring, he’s definitely more composed with you. quieter, calmer, still keen and observant, but never rowdy or loud.

- it’s silly to see him in hoodies. bulging muscles completely covered and he just looks like a cuddly teddy bear, minus the constant scowl on his face.

- nai knows what he’s capable of: knocking someone’s jaw off or breaking bones– he knows how to hurt someone and make it hurt bad. but with you, his hands turn into big warm paws, holding your face while he kisses you. arms putting someone in a choke hold just the night before, now wrapping lovingly around your waist while he grumbles good morning in your ear.

- knives looooves seeing you in the crowd watching him in the ring. now honestly before you got together, he mostly fought to release stress and see people bloody and bruised from his fists. but seeing you in the crowd gives him another reason to fight: cause god he loves showing off to you.

- he likes seeing your eyes sparkle up at him whenever he wins, he likes it when you run up to him and congratulate him with a sweet, satisfactory kiss.

- nai literally only lets you patch him up. he won't even let another nurse get within a three feet radius of him.

- he thinks it’s cute the way you take care of his wounds. gently wrapping gauze around them or holding an ice pack to his head, its adorable to see you bite your lip in concentration.

- knives like the little shit he is, like to pretend to wince just to see your reaction. forcing out a hiss when you check over his wounds, flinching back slightly. and seeing you gasp and scramble trying to apologize while wanting to pull away yet ease his pain is so fucking cute to him.

- but he has to go through with the act or you’ll swat him. so he hides his smile and brushes it off, telling you to continue. and when you look at him with wide, concerned eyes, he fights back the urge to kiss you.

Rem telling Knives as a child that he has to hide his powers, sic, himself from humans, and when he’s grown and Rem is gone he hides his face even when using his powers, even when killing and taking and exacting revenge no one ever sees more than a glimpse of the person beneath the veil? despite not needing to be afraid of anything are you ever still afraid? do you hate your mom but still carry the fear she instilled out of love in you to your dying day? God of War and Vash’s twin brother

Younger brother of Tesla (Goddess of Victory)

Raised by Rem (Goddess of Wisdom)

Based on Ares and partly Demeter

Respected and rather well liked among the other Olympians (except Meryl)

After the death of his sister at the hands of mortal Soldiers during the Trojan war and Vash losing his left arm to the same soldiers, he became fiercely protective/possessive of his twin brother

Some time after the end of the Trojan War he built a giant "cage” under Mt. Olympus and locked Vash inside it for nearly a Millennium.

When any of the other Olympians asked him regarding Vash’s whereabouts he’d tell them his brother was travelling through the mortal realm, which seemed to shut the majority of the other gods up regarding this issue and the Golden Cage beneath their feet remained a secret only he and Vash knew about.

After Vash managed to escape the the golden Cage with the help of Meryl and Roberto, rather than an eternal Winter like Demeter in the Myth of Persephone & Hades, Nai, overcome with rage, created a giant war that would slowly spread across all of ancient Greece.

[More ramblings about Nai’s design under the cut.]

Nai’s Design as you may have gathered is very much based on your typical Greek Hoplite Soldier

He was supposed to also wear a helmet but i was so proud of how the hair had turned out that I did not want to cover it up haha.

Around the time that this story takes place in, classical greece, bronze armours like these had actually fallen out of fashion in favour of iron ones so I just like to think that Nai, being over 1000 years old, is just very traditional or never fully mentally moved on from the Trojan War so he kept his old Bronze Plate Armour all those years while still adopting the newer Hoplite Warfare system (which used spears and Phalanx formations in comparison to the open battle fields and sword fights of the Mycenean Age/the Trojan War)

As for Nai‘s spear, an actual Dory could be up to 4 meters high, especially in the case of Macedonian ones. But making him run around with one of those would be impractical for many reasons as you may assume. The half-moon shaped spikes right underneath the actual Spear‘s spike is the part I stole from ancient greek hunting spears. The point of them was to keep wild animals like boars at a safe distance from you. Because boars, even if you pierce their skull with the actual spear‘s tip would just keep on running towards you even if it meant impaling their own brain on the entire spear Dracula Style. If you look closely you can kind of see it on the Meleager Sarcophagus.

What’s funny is that it is clearly stated that Nai doesnt need to eat or sleep unlike his twin brother but in the bluray and earlyconcept bro have never been more drained and dead inside than an overworked dependent plant like

People have pointed out how triKnives keeping the corpses of his sisters/plants shows how truly dismissive and exploitative of them - and by extension Vash - he is, but I don’t really see it as that. (from one angle yes, the case can certainly be made that him tacking up the dead bodies of his own kin around his piano room shows how fucked in the head he is, but there’s more layers to it) Tristamp Knives is different from other iteration in that he is both more vulnerable and more colder than his counterparts. This is the boy that held his hand out to Rem. The boy who was screaming for someone to save sister plants. The boy who gifted his brother a gun so the brother could kill from a distance. The boy who was screaming “how many times will you steal him?” The boy still desperately pleading while he was burning to death, so on and so forth. But yet, he distances himself from humanity in a way ‘98 and trimax Knives doesn't. And he says he keeps the body of his sister suspended there to remind him, and I think that’s what it actually is. Because, what did he need to remind himself of? He didn’t have the corpses there before he witnessed the Last Run. And sometime after the Last Run, after he cut off Vash’s arm and lost his brother for the second time, is when he puts up the bodies. He could have had doubts, he could have had regrets, even for a person so strong in their convictions. Seeing the plants die all at once changed him, being rejected by Vash changed him, and Knives was still very young then. He could have faltered, could second-guessed himself, could have despaired of ever making the change he wanted, and then became ashamed of his weakness and did something drastic to hold himself to account. Like, yeah, hanging up his dead siblings. Because if there’s one thing Knives does, is do something drastic when confronted with an Issue. And also, there’s something else to consider, maybe it’s a twisted way of honoring his sisters. Of letting them stand free of their glass prisons in death.  Knives must of taken the bodies he displays from the plants after the Last Run, because the bodes are black and burnt, but hundreds of other plants also died, and what happened to their bodies? They aren’t just sick like the red plants still living in their glass tubes, they’re dead. Because, what are the funerary rites for plants? There probably aren't any at all. They’re probably disposed of as bio-organic waste. Did Knives lay the others to rest somehow, or did Knives just dispose of them and just kept those odd four or five back out of all of them, because he managed to keep those at least? Is the one hanging over his piano the one he tries to touch in July? They’re dead, but he can keep them safe in his room. They’re dead, but at least he can give them the company of another plant, himself. They’re dead, but they remind him he’s not to let this happen again. They’re black and burnt and dead, and so will Vash be in every way that matters, but he’ll be safe, and Knives will keep him company. Yeah, maybe displaying bodies in such a way is outwardly extremely exploitative, but one of Knives’ greatest flaws is how he crosses over to the side he despises to ensure he and his are not hurt by that side. His Hannibal Lecter piano room decor is fucked up way of honoring his dead, and as he says, reminding himself that he needs to do what has to be done.
