James Taylor Brings Peanuts to National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Bring popcorn if you must, but James Taylor’s got the Peanuts covered.

Accompanied by a second guitar and upright bass, Taylor sung “Christmastime is Here” from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at the 102nd National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony; a portion of his offering is out to announce the broadcast, scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern, Dec. 20 on CBS.

Other performers include Trombone Shorty, the War and Treaty and Trisha Yearwood among others.

Scoff if you like. But given next year is likely to include Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Travis Tritt and Lee Greenwood singing “White Christmas” and, perhaps, the Russian National Anthem, you best enjoy it.
