200 Followers Gift: 19th-century Men's Lookbook
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, here it is. A gift to you all for getting my follower count up to a whole 200. I know it's not a huge milestone, but I'm excited about it, and I'm glad so many other people are interested in the things I make. As of right now I have 212 followers, and there were only about 190 students at my elementary school. That's weird. That's a lot of people.
This is a more informal lookbook than my usual ones. I haven't really gone all in on the photo editing. It's more of a timeline of fashion than a true lookbook. Note that it's a mix of casual wear (1810, 1820, 1830, 1850), regular daywear (1800, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890) and evening wear (1840).
1800s: hair / glasses (TSR) / suit / boots (Base Game)
1810s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / vest / breeches / boots
1820s: hair / facial hair / vest / pants (Discover University) / boots
1830s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / outfit / boots (Base Game)
1840s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / suit / shoes
1850s: hair / facial hair / outfit / shoes (Base Game)
1860s: hat / hair / facial hair / suit / gloves (Base Game)
1870s: hat / hair / facial hair (Cottage Living) / jacket / pants (Sack Pants) / gloves (Base Game) / boots
1880s: hat / hair / facial hair (Horse Ranch) / suit / boots
1890s: hat / hair / facial hair (Cats & Dogs) / suit (Professor Plum) / shoes (Get Together)
huge thanks to all the cc creators included in this! you rock!

When the front door opened, Rose sat from her needlework to greet her husband, excited to inform him of the news of their son’s engagement. Peter was away visiting other friends from school, but he’d written to his mother and informed her of the happy occasion. Rose was beyond excited at the prospects of her eldest marrying and more importantly, the future grandchildren to come. She assumed that only Peter would ever marry, as her darling David was blind and sickly, a shame for a child who loved the outdoors and company.
Tumblr media
“Edwin, Peter has written me the most joyous news!” She exclaimed, walking into the mud room. “He has proposed to Rebecca Kingsley, and she has accepted him!”
Rose was by surprised how exhausted her husband looked. His eyebags were purple, and his whole body was slumped, like he didn’t have the energy to stand up properly. She faltered and stared.
“Edwin? What is ever the matter? You looked so well when you left for London two days prior.”
He sighed heavily, closing his eyes. “I only began to feel ill upon arriving in London, and it has only grown worse. How is David?”
David had been in bed with a fever when Edwin left. He was still in bed sick, but the doctor had told her it looked to be nothing and to call if the fever did not break in three days.
Tumblr media
“In bed still, but I think for the better. We were chatting all morning I t-” Rose faltered as Edwin suddenly collapsed to his knees. “Oh my lord!” She cried in vain, rushing to his body and feeling his forehead, shocked by how hot it was.
Tumblr media
He then to the ground, head rolling back. Rose screamed and grabbed his body in shock, beginning to yell for help.
Tumblr media
Peter rushed home from vacation in a desperate hurry as news spread of a minor typhoid outbreak in Newcrest. Rose was at her witness end, watching her husband and son grow worse and unable to do a thing, sobbing in relief at her eldest’s arrival.
“How bad is it?” Peter asked, eyes wild.
Rose looked away. “Dr. Ingalls comes as often as he can, but I fear the worse. Your father can barely distinguish dream from reality, and your brother has not woken up in two days.” She broke into fresh tears. “I haven’t slept in three days.”
Peter embraced his mother and rubbed her back gently, just like she used to do to him when he was young.

Trois femmes aux ombrelles
And we're back at the regular 1880's fashion with this set which inludes bustle skirts in 3 lenghts, 2 skirt overlays, 3 flower accessories, a parasol and an umbrella !
More pics and download below
As referenced in the title, this set was inspired by Marie Bracquemont’s painting : Trois femmes aux ombrelles ou Les Trois grâces / Three Ladies with Parasols or Three Graces, 1880.
Thanks to @javitrulovesims for making the perfect pose for this set !
———————————   Skirts  ———————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
Once again, these skirts have a slight bustle shape which would best fit for the natural form era : roughly 1875 - 1883 ; (well actually, the size of the bustle is dependant on the size of the sim’s butt so do with that what you will). They are more ornate than my Cueillette skirts featuring some gathered layers and trims typical of the period, so they would be better suited for higher class people or more dressed up occasions.
And as always I give you 3 versions with each a different lenght to have more teen options and worker friendly options . The short one end mid calf, the medium one is ankle lenght and the long is full lenght.
74 swatches : 22 solids, 10 floral, 6 plaid, 25 striped & 11 polka dot patterns
3 lenghts : S, M & L
————————— Skirt Overlays —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These two overlays will allow to respectively change the gathered layers and the trim swatches in order to channel the trim crazy period that were the 1880's.
Tumblr media
in the middle finger section
74 swatches for the skirt overlay : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
22 solid swatches for the trim overlay
———————— Flower Accessories ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
To properly channel Marie Bracquemond's painting I needed a bunch of flower accessories so you will find 3 accessories in this set : a hair flower, a collar flower and a boutonnière. In my opinion these are pretty timeless and can suit a wide array of looks as portrayed in the pictures below.
These are all edits of @the-melancholy-maiden's Hair Flowers Through the Ages Part 2 thanks to her very open TOU.
Tumblr media
none of these are compatible with hats
51 swatches : the-melancholy-maiden's original 29 colors and my 22 colors
the collar flower and the boutonnière are in the necklace section
the hair flower is in the hat section, available for both female and male frames
the hair flower is hat slider compatible
————————   Parasol & Umbrella  ————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
I made both an umbrella and a lacey parasol (using Javi's texture). These are rather timeless too I think, they are definetely suited for late victorian and edwardian eras.
These are both edits of @javitrulovesims's Meiji Komorebi Accessory Parasol, thank you Javi !
NOT compatible with necklaces, earrings, piercings or anything using the same UVmap (such as kijiko's lashes unfortunatly)
in the right index finger section
45 swatches : 2 colors for the frame and handle, 22 for the canopy and 1 fully black swatch

Meiji Komorebi
A 1885 Japanese inspired Dress
I FINALLY Finished! I started this project back in 2020 a few weeks after TS4 Snowy Escape was released. At the moment it looked like a basic 1880's Bustle Dress, no big deal but once i reached the Weight paint mode it was a NIGHTMARE. You see? this dress have a slight Lobster Tail train and everytime i try to fix it it became harder and clippy. Frustrated and somewhat tired due the pandemic i decided to stash the project on the WIP folder and forget about it until a couple of days ago that resurfaced on my WIP's Folders so i revisited the project. Those damn weights didn't stood a chance and finally finished it.
The Dress is inspired on mid 1880's Japanese wear wore by the high class ladies on the Meiji Period Japan. They used to mix Kimono silks and Western patterns to create unique garments while still following the European fashionable dress.

"I will dip my pen in my own blood if I choose!" (Vendetta; or, the Story of One Forgotten – Marie Corelli, 1886)
i'm not going to lie to you all. this is my least favorite decade of the 1800s... lets get this over with.
also, yes, i know that i used @vintagesimstress's 1799 winter wear, but it reminded me a lot of this tea dress dated from the 1880s, and i wanted to use it! also also, yeah this is the second post today. i haven't burned out on this project yet but lord knows.
so, the 1880s. you see bustles a lot in this decade, as well as a lot of hats over updos. hair was typically pulled into an updo due to the prevalence of high necklines. not fun fact: many bird species became endangered in the 1880s and 1890s due to the demand for feathers for hats. sleeves stayed close to the arms, but would begin to puff as the decade went on. the bustle hit it's peak in the middle of the decade, much like hoops did in the 1860s. as the bustle shrunk, the hemline of the skirt began to widen into the bell shape that is most associated with the late victorian years.

At school, Miss Blanchard was her usual strict self, but Isadora has grown used to her stern demeanor. She tried to make arithmetic interesting with those pesky numbers and calculations, but Isadora just couldn't muster much enthusiasm for it.
She much prefers writing and spelling; there's something delightful about putting pen to paper and watching words form like magic.
Her favorite part of the school day, as always, was lunchtime. She loves to sit outside with my friends, they share their secrets and dreams as they munch under the bright blue sky.

Katja - a Victorian day dress
Tumblr media
Another Victorian dress, by popular demand (not a single soul has asked for this). It comes in four versions: An ankle-length version for adults or older teens, a short version for younger teens, and conversions for both children and toddlers.
It's somewhat based on a dress from 1867, but it ended up looking weirdly 1870s or even 1880s. It bugged me at first, but I've embraced it now. So, in terms of usability ranges: really anytime between 1867 and 1890. Go wild, go crazy! You can use it for whatever era you'd like.

A dress I fell madly in love with! Thanks @javitrulovesims for this wonderful sharing of pure sartorial art! Also thanks to @buzzardly28 for the hairstyle! For those who are curious, this lady has a name and a noble title: Reira Tsuchiya - Hakushaku fujin (countess) (c. 1885) A fictitious character but that I adore infinitely ...

David died in the night, unable to break the fever that had consumed his poor young body. Rose was devastated, weeping by his bedside for hours. It was Peter and poor Rebecca that had to tell the weakening Edwin of his younger son’s death. It seemed to be the final blow for Edwin, whose body had fought so much for life, gave up after hearing his little boy was dead. For three painstaking nights and three pain-staking days, Rose, Peter, and Rebecca watched him wither away, and when Dr. Ingall arrived that morning, he informed them to say their final goodbyes. Mr. Walsh wouldn’t last the day.
Tumblr media
“Edwin, my darling,” Rose whispered, brushing his ear gently.
Weakly, her husband hummed in acknowledgment, too weak to even open his eyes.
“I’m here, Father,” Peter said gently, taking his father’s hand in his.
“Oh, I wish we could have grown old together,” she lamented, tears in her eyes. “I would do anything to have you and David here.” She chuckled, tears spilling off her cheek. “I would even change our bedroom wallpaper and blankets—I know how much you hated the bombardment of roses.” She leaned forward and kissed his forehead gently. “I’m your only Rose, and I shall be for the rest of your life and mine.”
“I love you, Papa,” Peter uttered, his throat closing up. “Will you te-tell David that I am still angry I have lost my favorite chess partner? And how much I miss him?”
He sighed and a strange smile fell upon his face.
Rose leaned forward and kissed his burning lips. “We shall be fine, my dear. Be at peace now.”
And with a final shaky breath, Edwin Bernard Walsh III died.
Tumblr media
~~~
The funeral service was small as Edwin had bequeathed in his will. Rose, Peter, Rebecca, and Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley were the only people who attended the actual service while his wake had been on a much larger scale. Rose felt relieved by the intimacy of the service. To say her final goodbyes to her husband and youngest child was a private affair she did not want many to witness.
She hated how bright and sunny it was that summer afternoon, as if the weather did not understand her pain. Rare for England, to have a sunny day without a cloud in the sky, and a cruel thought on her husband’s and son’s funeral.
Tumblr media
She gently placed the wreath of flowers on David's headstone and sighed, a single tear pouring down her face. “Rest well, my little one,” she uttered quietly before turning to her husband's grave. "I shall love you always. Keep well, my dear."
AN: A very depressing note to end the 1880s :( next post will be the start of the 1890s! Also yes I changed the filters again y'all I just want some reshade-esque stuff for the mac
At the Theater
It's me again ! I won't rest easy until I'm done filling the gaps in my 1880s wardrobe and evening wear sure was a big one. So here, come and look at these 1870's / 1880's evening bodices, 4 of them ! You're welcome, just don't use them for gardening or the historical fashion police will be on your back ❤️
More pics and download below
This set was inspired by 2 of Mary Cassatt's paintings : as referenced in the title, At the Theater, 1880 and Woman in a Loge, 1879.
Tumblr media
——————— Plain and Bow Bodices ———————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
These 2 bodice are the ones that are most inspired by Mary Cassatt's paintings, but it's also a style I've seen a bunch in other impressionist paintings of the time. It's a simple sleek bodice with off the shoulder sleeves and a low rounded collar as was fashionable in the late 1870s and early 1880s.
It is specially made to be worn over my bustle skirts. An overlay is included to change the bow's color.
74 swatches for the bodices : 22 solids, 10 floral, 6 plaid, 25 striped & 11 polka dot patterns
22 solid swatches for the bow overlay
the bow overlay is in the right wrist section
Disclaimer :
1 -be aware there will be some distorsion in the armpit area, I did my best but armpit weights are tricky.
2 - the patterned swatches will not be seamless in that same armpit region as you can see below it's quite cluncky :
Tumblr media
————————— Rococo Bodice —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
This bodice, like the name implies, is inspired by Rococo fashion. The Rococo style dates back to the 18th century and it had a bit of a revival during the victorian era which impacted the fashion as much as the interior decor among other things. This influence, here, results in a squarish neck line and a triangle piece reminiscent of 18th century stomachers.
Like the the plain and bow bodices it has been specially made to be worn over my bustle skirts. An overlay is included to change the trim's color.
74 swatches for the bodice : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
22 solid swatches for the Rococo trim overlay
the Rococo trim overlay is in the right wrist section
————————— Flower Bodice —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
This bodice was mostly inspired by some fashion plates from 1880.
Contrary to the 3 others, I made it so it sits under the skirt, so it'll work with other bottoms than my bustle skirt too should you want to.
74 swatches for the bodice : 22 solids, 10 florals, 6 plaids, 25 stripes & 11 polka dots patterns
62 swatches with various color combinations for the flower overlay
the flower overlay is in the right wrist section
——————————   Boutonnière  —————————
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————
In addition to the flower accessories from my previous set, here is a boutonnière that sits lower on the chest to work with lower neck lines. Contrary to my previous boutonnière, this one is also compatible with necklaces. Like my other flower accessories, this is a pretty timeless accessory as evidence by the picture below.
Once again this is an edit of @the-melancholy-maiden's Hair Flowers Through the Ages Part 2 thanks to her very open TOU.
Tumblr media
not compatible with hats
in the nose piercing section (so that it's compatible with necklace)
51 swatches : the-melancholy-maiden's original 29 colors and my 22 colors
available for female frames
And as a little bonus some of my reference main reference pictures :
A couple of days ago i finally finished the Meiji Komorebi Dress that was on my WIPs for YEARS! after finished that i decided to make a cute Parasol and a Hand Fan to go with the cute outfit. And of course, a pose box (My very first Pose Box YAY!) that also go with the Dress and the accesories hehehe.
Tumblr media
Both Parasols and Hand Fans are no compatible with hats sorry. I run out of UVmap Space and i really wanted to look good so. Hats were sacrificed. Also, i made sure that the parasol and fans were compatible with other creators pose boxs. If they used an accesory with the Stigmata weights they will be fiiine.
