1830s Unmentionables Set
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A recolor of @arethabee's Jasmine dress to add some early 19th-century long stays on top, as well as some accessory drawers to pair with the recolor. I made these a long time ago and will admit they're not my best work, but I think they could be useful for historical gameplay. And the mesh is so cute and fits so well it's worth it!
Both have a few swatches in relatively neutral tones + some basic colors + black. I've never seen any colorful or black stays from this time period, so the color choices are probably a bit historically inaccurate, but some variety can't hurt.
The hair in the above previews is by the amazing @the-melancholy-maiden and can be found here. I recommend combining it with this set to complete the ensemble.
This is a bit of a long post, so I'm putting the rest under the cut.

I say 1830s, but they could work for pretty much the first half of the 19th century, up until the early 1840s

1830s Accessory Drawers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These accessory drawers don't look very good on their own, I'll admit. They're definitely meant to be covered with a skirt of some kind.
The drawers are divided into four different files, which require some explanation. The drawers on the left are V1. They're compatible with most skirt lengths, but are a bit bulky and are at risk of clipping with whatever you put on top, specifically at the thighs and hips. The ones on the right are V2. They've been decapitated to minimize bulkiness, but of course they won't look good with skirts that are too short.
Both V1 and V2 are compatible with the stays in this set. And both V1 and V2 are found in two different categories: Leggings and Socks. Why put something like this in Socks? Well, simply because a lot of good CC stockings are in the Leggings category, including the ones seen in the previews. So there are four files: V1 Leggings, V1 Socks, V2 Leggings, and V2 Socks. Get them all or get just one - it's your choice. Hope this cleared things up.

random history trivia you should know: in the early 1800s people wore these hipster-style glasses. the first pair is indeed blue; lord byron was also fond of blue sunglasses. green on the right was another popular shade as it was thought cooler colors protected sight better from the yellowish warmth of light. i don't know if that's medically true, but i had a beloved pair of purple glasses once and i thought they were much more comfortable than regular black shades. i'm pretty sure the famous composer franz schubert in the middle there is just wearing regular eyeglasses.
Sources: John Wesley Jarvis' Portrait Of A Gentleman, 1807, composer Franz Schubert at age 17, 1814, Nathaniel Olds by Jeptha Homer Wade, 1839.

For once I can actually say I don't think it has any real issues, at least nothing you can't see just from the previews in this post. Like all trains in this game, the train might be underground in some positions and hovering slightly above the ground in others.

so i'm enjoying watching people go through the dracula daily thing but i wanted y'all to know (extremely light spoilers)
that if it was written today, Dracula would 100% be classified as Urban Fantasy and Magical Realism and not just a monster horror story
like bram stoker put a shitton of research into the book, and gave the characters all kinds of brand new advanced tech. the blood transfusion scene, for example, is interesting because blood transfusions had been successfully performed for decades but it still wasn't fully understood why they sometimes failed. by the 1890s--when he was writing--doctors had discovered platelets but hadn't developed anticoagulants. they knew that transfusing blood could kill a patient if a clot wound up in their brain or lungs, but there wasn't a foolproof method of preventing clots. the method used in Dracula was a cutting-edge (sorry) (no im not) experimental procedure that simply didn't allow the blood to meet the air, by directly linking the donor's artery to the recipient's vein. this showed a lot of promise in animal trials but never caught on in human treatments because it's basically impossible to measure how much blood is being transfused, so you could wind up killing both donor (via exsanguination) and recipient (via Too Much Fuckin' Blood) in one fell swoop.
additionally, blood types weren't discovered until a few years after the publication of Dracula, which i imagine really pissed bram stoker off. it would've been SUPER FITTING and ROMANTIC to add the detail that the character who donates their blood HAS to be the one, because they're THE ONLY ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS WITH THE SAME BLOOD TYPE AS THE VICTIM, which proves their love is TRUE and MEANT TO BE and DESTINED BY GOD and all that other late 19th century gothic romance shit

Kaisa - an 1870s dress in two versions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
December is the perfect time to post this gown! It's another 1870s dress, this time a nice and warm one for snowy days. Is it pretty? Yes. Is it practical? Absolutely not. Will the train be covered in filthy snow within minutes of leaving the house? Probably. But at least you'll look nice.

Girls' Accessory Pantalettes - 4 versions
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey! Do you want accessory pantalettes for children? Well, here they are! These were requested by @inlovewithregencyera.
BGC
Found in the leggings category
Come in 4 lengths - V1 is ankle-length and V4 ends a bit below the knees.
Pantalettes taken from Kirsten's Winter Outfit (though I do realize that's not where they're originally from. that's where I got em)
2 swatches - plain white and with a subtle lace texture at the bottom (which, in hindsight, isn't particularly noticeable in-game. But you can see it in CAS!)
Not all socks are compatible with the texture, but one pair I've found to generally work well are the Tea Socks from this pack
I don't recommend combining them with dresses shorter than knee-length or anything with preexisting pantalettes. It doesn't look good.
Some dresses also end up sort of... highjacking the pantalette texture.
Tumblr media
HOWEVER, this can actually end up looking alright! While most pantalettes were white, they did sometimes match the dresses. But then again, the dresses were usually white as well.
Vertices: 289
Polygons: 289
Known issues:
They do a strange exploding thing in certain situations. I've noticed it in CAS, household portraits (the ones seen in the household manager), and the portrait in the bottom left corner in Live Mode. It doesn't seem to be an issue in gameplay though! And it only SOMETIMES occurs in cas. If it's very annoying, switching to another outfit and then back to the one you were editing should get rid of the exploding.

Some compatible dresses (used in the previews):

2: Cecile Nightgown
3: Josefina's School Outfit
4: 1896 CF Dress

a good job for javert would be OSHA inspector
gdsgklsdhg this is so funny and horrible to consider
No railings on your walkways? well we can't go bothering someone who owns a factory over little things like that ! All the fire exits are locked during business hours to keep workers from sneaking out for breaks? Good job, teach them the value of work. Too many orphans getting crushed in the orphan-crushing machine? Worrying! Might cause some inconvenience to the owner if the machine jams! Fine the floor manager /foreman , if you can't find anyone lower down to fine.
He comes into conflict with Valjean bc Mayor Madeleine actually wants to keep his building up to code and Javert doesn't want to bother him
