Have you ever wondered, " WOW MY SIM IS SMOKING HOT, THEY WOULD KILL IT AS A MODEL"? Well lookie lookie, do I have a competition for you baby!

Welcome to "SHINE" an upcoming next top model competition, where every week you'll submit an edit based upon a prompt! You are talented and the world needs to see you...SHINE!

The competition will span from the 15th of May-17th of July.

Each weekly round will feature a theme all contestants will have to follow and complete

Having complex or access to editing software is not necessary but it's a bonus having it of course.

You can expect a fun challenge, with creative prompts to get your creative minds working!

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS THE 8th of May!

You can only submit one sim.

If you drop out of the competition, you will not be allowed to join under any circumstance. This means you can go a week without submitting or however many but you won't receive any points but you are still in the competition. If you decide to drop out, that's final.

Any foul play, bullying, racism, homophobia, ableism or just overall being a dickhead will you GUESSED IT... get you removed immediately from the competition and disqualified.

You are free to be as creative as you want eg: changing hair or their style etc- THE THINGS YOU CAN'T CHANGE IS YOUR SIMS FACIAL STRUCTURE LOL OR SKIN TONE UNLESS WE DO SOMETHING SUPERNATURAL etc: FOR INSTANCE AND YOU MAKE YOUR SIM BLUE FOR IT. That is different obviously. If you are unsure, ASK.

Originality: How original or unique is your idea for the prompt; while being relevant to the week's prompt.

Story: This is where you earn points based on the description of your edit/idea for the week; and how thought-out it is

Execution: The editing/posing and overall feel of the submission [the image itself]

Style: Points related to the outfit/appearance of the sim related to the prompt and how fashionable or fashion-forward it is :)

Hello, everyone! This is my submission for the Shine Modeling Competition.

Babylon Beppu.

Babylon is currently eighteen years old and was born on June 28, making her a Cancerian.

Although she isn't aware, she is a fairy born of two ordinary townies. In my Sims Au, fairies are extinct and have been so for many years.

She was born in Glimmberbrook but was raised in Windenburg.

Her mother had given her up as an infant, and she was in an orphanage for three years before she accidentally wandered out of the orphanage while the caregivers were taking care of an uproar that happened between a few of the kids that were there as well.

The further she wandered, the more she realized she was lost and had no way of returning. As she was about to cry, she happened to bump into a stranger who was returning home from a grocery shopping trip.

Bunny Beppu. a young adult with two children of her own around Babylon's age. She was confused as to why the toddler was alone but watched her until her "parents" arrived. Babylon and Bunny immediately got along and clicked.

As the hours passed, it was the caregivers that arrived to take Babylon. That's when the woman learned that the baby was an orphan.

As Babylon wailed away, stretching her arms to Bunny, at that moment the woman decided she wanted the child to be part of her family, and after many procedures and papers later, she did.

She became part of the "Bunnies Pack" household with her adoptive werewolf father, adoptive human mother, and their set of hybrid twins.

She is the youngest child, and she is overly protected by everyone in the household due to her being the "baby."

Despite not being related by blood, she looks similar to her mother, Bunny Beppu.

At the time she was adopted, Bunny and her husband, Howl, weren't married yet, so she took Bunny's last name.

One thing about Babylon is that she is kindhearted and always wants to help. She is very naive as well, which gets her into awkward situations. That's why her family is so protective. 

When a family member is going through a bad day, she always knows what to do and cheers them up, with simple words or actions. She is the big sun among the stars. 

She is very creative and always has an idea. Whether it's good or not, she always follows through with it.

One thing she never considered was being a model. She always thought she didn't have the proper figure or height despite being told the opposite. 

Despite being told that she should become a model, she always dreamt of becoming a baker and owning her own bakery.

I wanted to do something incorporating other simmers in this community so I decided to do "Next Top Model" show but in sims ! I am looking for 10 sims to compete in modeling challenges! If you wish to participate keep reading

What it's going to be like: I'll be picking a theme and basically posing each sim and posting the pictures, then you guys will be voting for who gets eliminated each week ! I'm still planning out some other details on how to do this...

SHINE Contestant

Charline "Charlie" Morel for @gashface's SHINE: A Sims 4 Modelling Competition

Charline "Charlie" Morel was born as the first of two daughters to an overly strict wealthy family. The Morels were a family of musicians, and every child born to the family was expected to be a musician, and those in the direct line were expected to inherit the family instrument manufacturing business (or whatever it was, Charlie really couldn't care less). Unfortunately, Charlie did not inherit her family's ear for music - she knew she wanted to be a creative soul, but honestly, she wasn't very good at any of it. Her parents forced her to take singing lessons because it was the only thing musical she was any good at, but she always wanted to do something else. She didn't know what that was until she graduated from high school - she wanted to model. She had tried taking pictures once, but quickly she realized she preferred being in front of the camera instead. So she packed up her belongings and moved out - not terribly far away, but out of her parents' clutches. Charlie is a stubborn, self-assured girl who is determined to prove herself and make a name in something other than music. Once she gets an idea in her head, she is determined to see it through to its finish - or crash and burn trying. (Even if her inner perfectionist cries out in terror at the prospect.)

SIG-Sauer Pistols CC Collection

Began in 1975, with an aquisition of a German arms factory of J.P Sauer und Sohn GmbH by the Swiss SIG AG, SIG-Sauer produces many variants of pistols including : 

SIG P220

The very first patent since the joint of these two companies. Launched in 1975 to fill the position of the police issue sidearm. Also this model is a principle of the next SIG-Sauer pistol designs.

SIG P226

Issued in 1985 as a development of P220 with advanced features. Actually participated in US DoD's XM9 program, but instead the Beretta 92F was chosen. Later acquired by the US Navy as M11. One of Original "Wonder 9" Member who Successfully toppled the Revolver's Domination during 1980s inside Law Enforcement and Military alike.

SIG P228/P229

A compact variant of P226 basically some length was chopped from the barrel and slide, as well as from the grip. The P229, was developed especially for the US market and is assembled in the USA using both German and US-made parts. It’s identical to the P228 except for a heavier slide. The P229 slide is made by machining a bar of steel as opposed to stamping and forming from sheet steel. The heavier slide on the P229 is necessary because of the comparatively more powerful calibers used in this pistol.

SIG Pro

Sig Sauer's Attempt on Modernizing their Sig Sauer Series to make it relevant for current Polymer frame Pistol Trend and stay relevant in Military Industries. The SIG Pro is a series of semi-automatic pistols developed by SIG Sauer in Exeter, New Hampshire. It became the first polymer-frame handgun from SIG Sauer and one of the first pistols to feature a built-in universal accessory rail and interchangeable grips. Offerings in the series are chambered in .40 S&W, .357 SIG, or 9×19mm Parabellum. As of March 2020, only the SP 2022 variant is still listed on the SIG Sauer website. The SIG Pro was marketed as a lightweight. and compact alternative to the "legacy" SIG Sauer handguns in an increasingly competitive and budget-oriented law enforcement market. SIG P320 (M17 And M18 )

A further development of previous model SIG P250 which issued by SIG Arms Inc. USA. Released in 2014 as a SIG participation in the US DoD's XM17 next sidearm program. After some evaluation,  this model won the contract and acquired as M17 in the US Army in 2017. US Marine Corps acquired it's compact variant known as M18. The full-sized model was designated the M17, and the shorter length carry model, the M18. The guns have subsequently been adopted by the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Space Force. The pistol replaces the Beretta M9, as well as several other handguns across the services. There are two color variants, coyote brown and black, for both the M17 and M18, though almost all have been produced in brown.

so re: the TS4 Patreon Early Access Folks (TM) and the exorbitant amounts of money some of them are making:

I actually work in the games industry and I'm currently job-hunting. one of the most useful resources I have is this spreadsheet run by an absolute madlad who works in game animation, who goes through all the video game job sites and posts every reasonable job on offer.

As a writer there aren't too many gigs for me out there. but you know what there always are a million job postings for? what every game studio is hunting down like mad?

3D modelers.

you can get a job as a 3D modeler that pays a decent middle-class salary. with things like "insurance" and "dental" and "a 401k". and while it is a competitive field, it's still relatively easy to break in compared to game writing. everyone needs good 3D modelers. sure, a Game Industry Job (TM) has all the disadvantages of working in games- crunch, money-hungry bosses, working out of an office- so I can understand why someone wouldn't want to.

but the fact remains: if you're at all good at 3D modeling, if you have any kind of portfolio, you can get a job at a small-to-mid-tier game studio and make a proper living off it.

the people who are putting out early access patreon content and insisting that IT IS THEIR LIVELIHOOD, HOW DARE YOU TAKE AWAY THEIR LIVELIHOOD... they could get, y'know, an actual job. with salary. and benefits. and the knowledge that they're not breaking EA's TOU and thus putting their entire community at risk of getting shut down.

they are choosing not to get a job in 3D modeling. that is a choice. it is a choice that is reasonable for some people to make- if you're a student or a young mother or you just want to be your own boss, I get why you wouldn't want to try to Get A Game Industry Job (TM). but it's still a choice they are making.

but of course, if you're working a Game Industry Job (TM), you can't steal models from Second Life and lie about it, can you?

Can it be? Even more genuine life sims?

Pixelade came out with this video where he’s reviewing all of their current videos, but you can also just pop on over to their channel directly as well.

So here’s my thoughts.

First, the name gives me a bit of pause. “People of the Newbery.” It’s not grammatically correct, unless the city’s name is “The Newbery.” Or maybe I’m just dumb. But I feel like it would make more sense as “The People of Newbery,” or even just “People of Newbery.” Also, there’s probably not going to be other city options, you’re in Newbery and that’s it. But that might not necessarily be a bad thing.

Ok, so the trailer. It’s very pretty, super vibrant. Some comments pointed out that pretty much everything you see is from the Unreal Store though. To me, it’s a shame because it becomes really hard for a game to form its own personality and stand out when it’s using the same assets as so many other games. But for small dev teams or even single devs, it might be necessary.

I don’t know how I feel about how realistic everything is. The more realistic a game looks, generally the more serious the tone is. Like, if you look at their people as shown in character creation, they look more suited for Fallout. I mean if they’re aiming for a serious, more realistic life sim then great! But look at that dude and try to picture him doing all of the goofy and over-the-top animations from TS4. It’d probably be a bit weird. The more serious the art, the more serious the game.

The UI is a bit amateur-looking, but it might just be temporary. General rule of thumb, align stuff like checkboxes and space everything evenly.

The world editing looks pretty nifty. I like the ability to place things on top of each other like shown with the rocks, as well as the smooth sizing as opposed to incremental sizing like TS4.

The animal models were nice. It’s cool to see a deer, I hope they can be interacted with in some capacity.

The little house shown in the time lapse looks really cool, but it feels like maybe a shell that’s plopped down rather than built. I hope there’s a full build mode.

Ok! On to the Twitter feed.

There’s apparently going to be an online mode. Without going into the full rant as I have with TS5, I hope that single player is fully fleshed and can stand on its own. Gotta have friends for online mode lol.

I like that that there’s going to be a wider variety of animals. Also, Zoos? Please? Yes?

Dunno about the traits they listed for their premade character, Peyton. Only three? All from TS4? Hmm. I mean, sure, they’re fairly standard traits that make up people, but I feel like they absolutely should have gone with something that’s unique for their first mention. You know, make it stand out from the (already well-established) competition.

The house interior is absolutely gorgeous! I like that is has an almost grungy feel. Not everything is going to be spotless in a lived-in house!

All in all, I’m a bit hesitant on this one. Of course, I think I felt the same about Paralives when they first started, too. I’ll keep an eye out for it and watch for their progress. The more life sims, the merrier!
