the sack of Tumbleton will be the Blacks' fault on the show, mark my words.
Of course it will. Hugh Hammer is now a downtrodden father w/a sick child and supposedly this show is all "both sides bad, nobles forget what truly matters, monarchy bad-bad" so somehow it will be Rhaenyra's fault that Hugh "has to" betray her.
Perhaps his daughter will die and his wife either dies or leaves him so he "turns mad" and uses his dragon to fire upon innocents, "converting" into a mad Targ bc "it's in the blood". And Rhaenyra corrupted him bc despite her show attempts at peace, she can only spread destruction bc humans can't be left with such powerful beings and she allowed access to dragons openly. I can see it now....

Lady Sharis Footly, the widow of Tumbleton, achieved a different sort of fame by her efforts to restore that shattered town. Ruling in the name of her infant son (half a year after Second Tumbleton, she had given birth to a lusty dark-haired boy whom she proclaimed her late lord husband鈥檚 trueborn heir, though it was far more likely that the boy had been sired by Bold Jon Roxton), Lady Sharis pulled down the burned shells of shops and houses, rebuilt the town walls, buried the dead, planted wheat and barley and turnips in the fields where the camps had been, and even had the heads of the dragons Seasmoke and Vermithor cleaned and mounted and displayed in the town square, where travelers paid good coin to view them (a penny for a look, a star to touch them).

I was listening to the Blood & Fire Audiobook on YT yesterday and the second battle of Tumbleton always left me with some questions that came up again. Why was there no Nights watch for the camp that could have alerted the great Hightower host about the 4000 men strong Rivermen army. It was night so it's not like Addam could have easily spotted any scouts via Seasmoke in the sky. Also why wasn't Daeron and the other lords set up inside the city and behind the walls, idk maybe he wanted to stay with his camp but staying inside the city was clearly better since Ulf and Hugh did survive Seasmoke's assault. It's objectively smarter to set up camp around and in the city, but the most baffling is for me again that there was no watch to alert the camp and hightower host, 4k man is not a small number of people and in the book it is said that the attackers were already in the camp when most even just registered that they were attacked. Anyways that were just some thoughts I that I had swirling around in my head and I hope to see the dragon brawl in the show.

daeron is a good, gentle and smart boy馃槶
When Lady Caswell appeared on the ramparts of her castle to ask for the same terms Lady Merryweather had received, Hightower let Prince Daeron give the answer: "You shall receive the same terms you gave my nephew Maelor." Her ladyship could only watch as Bitterbridge was sacked. The Hogs Head was the first building put to the torch. Inns, guild halls, storehouses, the homes of the mean and the mighty, dragon flame consumed them all. Even the sept was burned, with hundreds of wounded still within. Only the bridge remained untouched, as it was required to cross the Mander. The people of the town were put to the sword if they tried to fight or flee, or were driven into the river to drown.
btw he was named "the daring" by ormund hightower and then... Tumbleton happend.

Absolutely loving the secrecy around Daeron because apparently he exists in the showverse? I hope they commit to the bit and have him filmed with his head out of frame in every shot like Miss Bellum from the Powerpuff Girls

Alone of the four dragons on the field that day, Seasmoke had a rider. Ser Addam Velaryon had come to prove his loyalty by destroying the Two Betrayers and their dragons, and here was one beneath him, attacking the men who had joined him for this fight. He must have felt duty bound to protect them, though surely he knew in his heart that his Seasmoke could not match the older dragon.
This was no dance, but a fight to the death.
